Inner Mean Girl: What the hell are you doing? You're doing everything all wrong.🤨 Me: Bursts into tears.😭 Lately, my inner mean girl is questioning every move I make. Inner Mean Girl: Look at you. You're a hot mess. I can't believe you went out of the house in an old T-shirt and pair of shorts! Me: But they're so comfortable. 🌄Morning 🔇Solitude 🧘‍♀️Alone with my thoughts Why do our favorite things have to wear out and fall apart? Is that what we do as humans? Wear out and fall apart? Some days I feel like that.🤔 Midlife has me pondering my meaning, my purpose. What is it that I am supposed to do? What contribution am I here to make?👵 There's always been some "role" that I've filled: smart kid, cheerleader, mom, coordinator, the glue that holds everything together, the people pleaser. People think I'm so strong. That I have my shit together. Do you know how hard that is to always be "that" person? I'm human. I can't be strong 100% of the time. Today I just needed to cry it out. I needed to purge all of these ugly thoughts and emotions so that I can press on and discover my new purpose. Sometimes I just need to feel all the feels and notice the thoughts so I can move myself along the emotional scale. It's OK. I'm OK. Feelings and thoughts are part of the human experience. I did not think our Mockingbird stroller was going to put up with our long, gravel driveway, but it did! My toddler is even getting a nap, which never happens. And I'm getting a lot of exercise going back and forth waiting for the mail while my toddler sleeps and the baby nurses in the lillebaby carrier (my alltime favorite carrier!). My daughter asked for a stroller ride, which she also doesn't usually do anymore. I think she's getting to the point of really missing our walks in different places and mixing it up. Women, why do we find it so hard to ask for help? We think we need to do it all, know it all, and be it all... ALL ON OUR OWN. Like we are a failure if we ask for help. Ladies, we are not perfect and we don't have to be perfect.📢 What is important is that we grow, evolve, and learn.🌱 I choose to keep working on being the best me possible. Middle age is a weird stage. 😭 Our identity as mom has shifted. ☹ We may have grown bored of our work. 🤔 We are looking for our purpose again. Sometimes it's hard to do that, find your purpose, all alone. An outside perspective is good.👍 I'm at this stage so I invested in myself by enrolling in a coaching program. I'm on week 3 with the Level Up program with @heidisawyercoaching. Even though I've been working on mindset for years, week 1 with Heidi taught me new techniques and solidified the why behind mindset and breath work. I'm gaining clarity around who I can best serve and what value I offer. 📢 News Flash: Despite what some who know me may think, I and my life are not and have not been perfect. I'm excited about this coming week! I can feel that I'm going to bust through some limiting beliefs that have possibly held me back for far too many years. I'm ready to gain even more clarity on how my struggles and life experiences can help others.🧡 As @JackCanfield says in The Success Principles(TM) - 10th Anniversary Edition, "You have control over only three things in your life—the thoughts you think, the images you visualize, and the actions you take (your behavior). I love being a mom! It is, by far, the best J.O.B. I could have ever asked for.🥰 My son was such a pleasure to raise and continues to be a source of inspiration for me. He always loved being active and still is to this day.👩‍👦 I threw myself into being his mom. I attended every sports practice and game, only ever missed one band performance, and was always up for jumping on the trampoline, playing XBox, or riding bikes. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ When I was looking through pictures to hang up for his high school graduation party, I realized that I wasn't IN any of the pictures with him because I was always the one taking the pictures.😯 I vowed to change that moving forward. (You can see how happy he was to start taking pictures with me in these photos from our road trip after high school graduation.😉) ❣ I wish someone would have told me about direct sales 30 years ago. I could have had more time with my son instead of working fulltime to help make ends meet. ❣ I wish I would have known that a clean house isn't the epitomy of a good mom and wife. I wouldn't have wasted one day each weekend cleaning. Instead, I would have spent them playing and making memories. ❣ I wish I would have known that memories stored in my mind from being present in the moment would be more valuable than a million pictures.
