Roderich feels violated and helpless while his world upturns. Gilbert feels angry and confused as everything slowly crumbles around him.

one of the things that makes pruhun good is that they are actually more similar than it seems, including being hotheaded so they also clash, a lot (oops).

the triangle is often presented as a variation of

pru+hun wanting aus pru+aus wanting hun

but when is the turn of aus+hun wanting pru in the current era, maybe pru freaks out a bit: "i moved on!" he says, the thing is, he did…didn't completely ⬅ both potential takes [+ in-between] are interesting 2 me 😈, the love can be rekindled, or aside platonical affection, the love faded.

Pruhun makes me fucking crazy. Truly. Theres gender going on, theres brothers in arms, sworn enemies, fighting over the same man, probably have Very Similar Traumas all things considered. Whether they hook up permanently or not, no one understands them like they do...

I get it, i like art and fic, but i see them more like actual cousins who hate each other for even being cousins. Id love to see more platonic drama between them but dont get me wrong the size difference and dom+brat compels me.

I don’t have a lot of thoughts on PruHun but I do think it has very funny and tragic potential. I like to think that sometimes Hungary and Austria would try to invite Gil over for an evening together subtley but it completely flies over his head that they’re trying to ask him to a threesome lol - like “Do you want to come over for dinner tonight? ^///^” “No thanks I have food at home >:P”

Gonna be real with you, I think the biggest shock I've had coming back to the fandom was finding out that Hima retconned Prussia and Austria to be cousins. I literally found this out like. 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Hetalia's been out for well over a decade now and PruAus/Frying Pangle have always been relatively popular. Or at least they are to someone who was deep in the trenches 2014-2017/18. I shared this Fun Fact with my friends who also Did Their Time in the fandom at the same time/before I did, and all of them are like. Huh? I can understand why Hima went and made Austria and Prussia related considering (gestures at map, language, and history book), but I don't accept it. I think of all the things to retcon... this one came far too late in the game, especially for long time fans. I get that it could've been assumed prior to 2021, but,,, man that's a whole decade before Hima decided to blatantly state it. From what I heard, he confirmed it in the 10th anniversary collezione? My feelings about Frying Pangle are a little difficult now that I know this, but I really do think that this was something retconned far too late in the game.

I don't see Gil and Rod to be cousins. I never have. I never will.

However, for the newer fans and people accepting of the change, I totally understand if Frying Pangle makes you uncomfortable. If I were a newer fan, I would be in that crowd. It's just,,, I know Hima is constantly retconning things, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse, but I really really believe this one came far too late.

To describe Rod & Gil's relationship...

There is SO much tension here. They are enemies, they are rivals, they are frenemies. I definitely think they have some soft moments, but they are far and few in-between. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say Erzse is the glue holding them together. All three of them are so interwoven with one another that it wouldn't be fair to say one is the leader of the group over the others. Though... Erzse does wear the pants.

I think there's a lot of tension in the group. Gil butts heads with Erzse and Rod a lot, but I think his relationship with both of them individually is stronger than Erzse and Rod's relationship.

Also??? Erzse and Gil are absolute chaos gremlins and Rod is just. There. Someone help him.

I also just have deep attachment to the three of them as a unit, romantic or platonic. The friends I ran my Hetalia Instagram account with and I attached ourselves to a Frying Pangle member each (I was Hungary). For our 800 or 900 follower thank you post, I drew the three of us (badly) as them!

TLDR: The 10yr anniversary is too late to confirm Austria and Prussia to be related in my books. I found out about this literally October 7th 2023. It is October 23 2023. I found Hetalia in early 2014. I don't see them as cousins because I have 9 years of history with them. I don't mind Frying Pangle and still enjoy them due to personal memories and their fun dynamic.

my god i know i should feel sorry for shiori here, but i just can't. had jirou not met akari, he and shiori would be in an endless spiral of mutual pining without character development or actual progress in their rs (like most childhood friend LIs, which is why they always lose to the other LI who MC literally just met but had a major impact on the MC).

B: It’s really cute. They have great chemistry and dynamics, both as friends and lovers! As a polycule, I like it best with all three being mutually in love with each other, whereas as a sort of triangle I like it the most with Hungary being conflicted because she loves both ♥ Though I think I don't mind it with Erzsi and Gil being both into Roderich either ...

• Bad Friends Trio (France, Spain, Prussia)

A: I love it. Platonically, I love it!! Them being best friends is such a tempting idea, and they're sooo versatile too! I love imagining them in all sorts of scenarios as a bunch of idiots who are so different from each other yet they inexplicably click so well together!! I also like them as friends with benefits, but I don't really see it as actual poly ...? I am also not into any ship that includes two of them, so I don't think I'll grade them singularly ... I do like Frain and SpaPru a little better than the other combinations though.

• Austria/Hungary

B: It’s really cute I used to like it more, but as Spaus took more of my heart, it kind of made Aushun reced :S I still really like it though and I will still eat alive anyone who dares saying it was/is a toxic relationship where Austria acts sexist or abusive towards her. I'd give it a B+/A-? It's around there, more than just B but not a full A anymore.

• Prussia/Austria

A: I love it Not necessarily in a romance sense, but damn, the sexual tension between these two!! Enemies to enemies with benefits at its finest and they also truly care about each other a lot deep down. I also really like them as just bromance, not necessarily going further than that. Gakuen!AU fits them so much ... But also, that one anime scene where Prussia picks a beaten Austria up from the ground by his collar?? YES. Gimme more. It does things to me.

• Prussia/Hungary

C: Not a bad ship Not a bad ship, but I feel little for them as lovers unless Austria is somehow involved. I do like the idea of Prussia crushing on her, but I don't think Hungary likes him the same way she likes Austria. I think she sees him more as a best friend or a brother, at least when it comes to canonverse.

thinking of pruhun and its potential when its either one sided or they both mistake intense platonic feelings for romantic ones. the messiness. the tragedy of growing up and growing apart because they no longer know each others mind soul and insides. all encompassing double edged sword type friendship. going from kids running around holding hands to adults sitting at a table struggling to find words that dont sound awkward and distant.

Very soft and cute, mostly Prussia being proud and protective of a tiny little Germany.

One of my favourite fics of all time, I’ve read this more times than I can count. Gilbert finds out he has a brother and goes on a hunt to find him and meet him and when he does he tries his best to become his family. Full of angst and drama with a little fluff too.

Super cute short one-shot, Prussia shows Germany around his new home and gives him the human name Ludwig.
