I finally pulled my finger out and have completed day two of @natashanewtonart #woodlandmarch #patreonartchallenge which was the house through the trees. For some reason my mind went to Hansel and Gretel and the witch's house made of gingerbread and sweets. I googled for some inspiration and loved the composition of a piece by Lyuba Bogan. Fascinating Folklore ~ I reeeeaaaly love folklores! I am fascinated since I was a teenager. That’s why I was so excited of the #scrawlrchallenge prompt. One of my favourites are from Japan or Northern Europe. For this prompt, I wanted to make a daruma. The color red from the #fabercastellpittartistpen gave me the idea. Also, I like to collect them. ( My backaback has some daruma pins so yeah). The #scrawlrbox was good and I really like the new set of the #pittartistpen. I didn’t know, that they are so juicy and blend so well. I was also shocked that the #friskpads hold a lot of ink. I am a person, which does a lot of layers and I was afraid it would happened. But no, I was surprised. OK so THIS was fun—but look at them both and tell me which one you like better! I tried to draw this scene three times, and every time I put the watercolor on, I just killed it. It was really starting to annoy me—did I forget how to paint? What happened? I loved the drawing, but that was as far as I could get. Why? So I drew it for the fourth time, and this time I just added the tiniest bits of color with @fabercastellusa Pitt brush pens in various greys, a light blue, a couple yellow/oranges, and the greens for those trees. Then I liked it A LOT. I think the markers forced me to pick a color scheme—you can literally hold the markers in your hand and decide on a combination you like—and they forced me to be more restrained, because I felt like I was drawing rather than painting. So then I took a picture of it and decided I could maybe add a few swipes of watercolor without totally ruining it. I posted both here—tell me which you like better—I really want to know. And now I might have to go buy some more markers. Because what I definitely need is more are supplies.
