Hello, Whovians — we’re excited to announce the #BringBackTentoo movement!

In July 2008, millions of viewers tuned in to watch ‘Journey’s End’; where the Doctor and Rose were left hand-in-hand on Bad Wolf Bay.

While fandom has remained active, continuing to generate endless works inspired by this iconic pairing, there's sadly been little official content from the people who launched the ship!

Nonetheless, our devotion remains unwavering. We persist, loving the OTP; ceaselessly spreading love and fan-made content worldwide!

The purpose of this movement is to show there is still an audience that is very interested in revisiting these two. One that would love to see the Doctor and Rose together again, on-screen or off, living their best lives in Pete’s World. 

Regardless of whether it’s a spin-off, comics, audio adventures, or — and this, we believe, is crucial — anything at all, we would just love to have them back in some way. We’ve realized that perhaps there hasn’t been enough collective buzz to bring this into reality, which is why we’re looking to rally up as much support as we can.

Why now?

Because there’s never been a more perfect time for it. 

Already, Russell’s return has been bringing former fans back in droves. Everyone’s waiting with bated breath for RTD2 and the sixtieth anniversary; plus Ncuti, David, and Catherine. With so many fans dipping back into the Doctor Who world, why not strike while the iron’s hot? 

At the fifteen-year mark, it might never be this “hot” again!

Plus… nostalgia is a massive market.

A return of Tentoo and Rose after all of these years would be the perfect cherry on top of all of it: closure for so many fans, as well as validation for the only happy ending a Doctor-and-companion pairing ever got in Doctor Who.

And don’t forget — fan campaigns work, especially in the social media age!

A spin-off — too much? 

As much as we’d love to see David and Billie back on-screen together as the proper Meta-Crisis Doctor and Rose, we understand that we already have David coming back in a big way, as well as Ncuti Gatwa — our brand new Doctor. It’s a big, BIG ask, trying to get a spin-off out of this. We recognize that.

However, as famished fans who are living off of little more than canonical crumbs and dreams, we will greedily devour anything we can get.

More Big Finish audio adventures

Big Finish has done incredible work for Doctor Who, including one of the only official ‘glimpses’ we’ve gotten into Pete’s World: A couple of short audios featuring Tentoo and Jackie.

Big Finish understands and respects these characters, their relationships, and the overall source material. They’ve shown time and time again that they’re more than capable of doing justice to Doctor Who! 

Audio adventures with a focus on the Meta-Crisis Doctor and Rose Tyler would be fantastic. Anything from their adventures with Torchwood and/or UNIT, imaginings of their life with a TARDIS, etc — there are endless possibilities! 

Comic book adventures

In 2021, Titan Comics published ‘Empire of the Wolf’, a lovely comic book that gifted us with the best glimpse we’ve ever had into the lives of the Doctor and Rose in Pete’s World:

It was a beautiful, if brief imagining of these two (and includes their daughter), but even so, the vast majority of the story involves Rose being trapped with the Eighth and Eleventh Doctors. We only get a few pages of Tentoo. 

Comics would be an excellent way to dive into the parallel world again!

Novels

There are loads of Doctor Who novels with amazing stories about Rose and the Tenth Doctor (like 'The Stone Rose' by Jacqueline Rayner). But, here's the thing: there's just one official novel that dives into the whole Metacrisis and Rose relationship... And guess what? Fans are really craving content that stays true to RTD and Julie Gardner's original vision for this couple.

The good news is, there are tons of talented writers out there who would jump at the chance to create legit Meta-Crisis stories, and some would even do it for free!

An animated series

We recognize that this would be a tremendous undertaking, but imagine: You can do incredible things with animation that aren’t possible with film. It would appeal to fans of all ages, and Billie and David have more than proven themselves to be excellent voice actors. There are all sorts of stories that could be created in this medium.

But let’s say we went with the first choice…

A spin-off/miniseries

RTD has been very vocal about his plans for spin-offs. Billie and David are willing, and it hasn’t been so long that the pairing has lost relevance… Although, in Doctor Who, does anything ever really lose relevance? The show is known for bringing back old characters. Enemies, companions… Doctors:

It’s obvious that David seems to have no issue with playing the Doctor. Furthermore, even Billie Piper has recently expressed interest in a spin-off!

In 2019, she told Doctor Who magazine: 

“I would like to see a one-off dark comedy about Rose and the Doctor in the parallel universe”. 

Then, even more recently in December 2022, she told Buzzfeed [on returning to Doctor Who]:

“If it was like four episodes all shot in London, then yeah, I’d be like a rat-up-a-drainpipe for that.”

Four episodes of Tentoo and Rose in London? What could be more perfect than that?

Wouldn’t a spin-off overshadow Ncuti Gatwa?

It doesn’t have to! If a spin-off were to happen, it wouldn’t necessarily have to happen immediately — it can happen after Ncuti has been established as the Doctor, and after RTD has re-established himself as showrunner. We’d just like for it to be part of the conversation, and let those in charge know that people are interested.

So… What about the people who didn’t like the ending?

Yes, there are some naysayers out there. People who refuse to acknowledge Tentoo’s legitimacy as the Doctor; others who refuse to believe that Rose could ever be truly happy with him, and vice versa.

This, sadly, is willful ignorance. Not only has Russell T. Davies, the man who wrote Journey’s End — who created Tentoo and Rose — confirmed that they're happy; the Doctor himself, David Tennant, will be the first person to tell you that those two are blissfully shagging their lives away at all times. And god bless him for it.

We’ve come to find that a lot of people who aren’t on board with the ending just didn’t understand it, which is fine — what better way to understand this pairing than by seeing more of them?

Actually love that they called the parallel universe Pete's World :) they could've named it after something related to how it differentiates from their universe. Something related to Lumic or Cybus industries, but no, they named it Pete's World, something that is only relevant to Rose and the Doctor by extension. What separates this universe from their one? The fact that cybermen started on earth by an ailing inventor rather than mondas? No. It's the fact that Rose Tyler's father lived in this one without any world ending paradoxes :) that's what the Doctor decided was relevant to differentiate them :)

Doctor Maisie AU // Role Swap AU

Parallel Reality where The Doctor has a Maisie-like personality (and appearance to match). Sam is the first companion of the ninth regeneration of this universe's Doctor. Martha is a childhood best friend of Sam. John Smith is a regular human who gets dragged along for the ride at some point.

Takes place in the same universe as Pete's World because why the fuck not???

During his first year of uni, Sam helps the Ninth Doctor (who looks like Freddy Carter in this world, if you're curious) close a forming black hole under London. As a thank offers to take Sam on a few adventures.

The two go on quite a few adventures. One of which Sam witnessed The Doctor regenerate for the first time. Sam eventually decides to return to uni and starts adventuring with the Doctor part-time.

Years pass, Sam graduates and starts working at a prodigious London high school, and gets randomly picked up for an adventure every now and again.

Sam reconnects with an old school friend, Martha Jones, and The Doctor develops an interest in her, and she ends up getting invited on adventures too (a universe where the Doctor has a genuine interest and respect for Martha? whattttt? that's crazy /j).

As I said at the start of the post, John Smith is a normal man who works as a teacher at the same school as Sam but is considered senior staff compared to Sam. Sam also has a bit of a crush but doesn't think it will go anywhere because Mr Smith seems to find Sam annoying (or does he really? hehe).

There are a few interactions with the Tyler Family (Rose, Pete, Jackie, Mickey), but The Doctor isn't exactly jazzed about having anomalies in her dimension whose mere presence could destroy the fabric of reality at any random moment.

@cersxisbitch I DO NOT NEED TO BE ASKED TWICE it has taken me a minute to reply bc i have been Thinking lots (also doing schoolwork but who cares about that) and i’m actually no longer as confident as i was but here i go anyway:

(**also i should preface by saying that in my mind the show is canon and everything else is optional. so i am mostly ignoring empire of the wolf)

so immediately after JE i think they are very tense for a bit. rose is just focused on the original doctor; she obviously misses him and feels bad for him but is also pissed bc he left her behind. tentoo tries not to push her too hard. i have this whole storyline planned out where tentoo stays in the guest room for a while passing time by making shit out of paper clips and then eventually rose has to call him in for help on a project that torchwood is stuck on. so they have to spend time together and it's a bit awkward but cute--sort of think that scene (i think it's from the children in need special? right after 9 regenerates into 10) when rose still needs to warm up to him and tries not to smile at his jokes. but slowly they return to normalcy and eventually she has a revelation about something something tentoo is still the doctor and she still cares about his happiness more than anything something something. lots of angsty conversations at night. thennn after another while they have their first kiss (well second. or fourth depending how you count it but anyway--) and it finally establishes them as an actual couple, but i don't think this changes their dynamic loads. maybe i'm just being an aquarius venus but it weirds me out to think of them being super fluffy. they're the same s2 bffs but now they kiss sometimes and stand even closer, if that's possible. so the same just more annoying (affectionate)! also i've always felt that the Angst was such a significant part of the relationship and i think it still sort of is. like, less so than before, but tentoo still has all these complex feelings that he doesn't know what to do with and it hurts so good!! also i think they do become a bit more domestic than they were but they still spend most of their time on spacey adventures. they can't not, they both love it so much. btw as a last note they have a gallifreyan wedding with just the two of them. had to throw that in there.

okay i think that mostly covers everything and i know this isn't especially interesting or well written but people were asking (thanks @dreamcaught & @thirdeyeblue for asking as well)!! i have so much love for tentoorose & i think they r very important to the story. my favorite space spouses.

I keep thinking about the idea of a way between our world and Pete's World opening again, not even for the obvious Doctor/Rose stuff but like... I want to see that world's Torchwood. I want to see Torchwood headed by Peter Tyler, with Rose & TenTwo, and Jake Simmonds, and then alternative reality versions of our team torchwood. I want Jack to get to work with this version of Torchwood, even if just for one adventure. I want Jack & Jake flirting, I want Rose & Jack moments, I want Jack, and maybe our version of Gwen, interacting with alternative reality Lisa Hallett & trying to reconcile her with the Cyberwoman they met. I want Freema Agyeman to play Martha's cousin Adeola Oshodi. I want all of it.

Note: So... this one was tricky for me. Between BTaS and BAU, there are literally so many AU I could possibly choose from. It didn't quite feel fair to pick just one, even if it were an underrepresented one of the bunch.

And then it hit me. Hey, Doctor Who has its own parallel universe in canon. One where things turn out slightly differently than they do in our world, and sometimes have very different results. Anything could happen...

So today's story is set in Pete's World, featuring a Zepheera that never left Orrick. Hope you enjoy!

Every single thing that Zepheera packed into her large knapsack felt heavy in her hands.

Ordinarily, she'd never dream of leaving like this. Leaving her family behind while she struck out completely on her own. They'd gotten her through so many rough times, and she'd done her best to help them in return.

Dreams were what got her to this point, as it happened. For months, she'd been plagued with visions– they had to be, they were too vivid for Zepheera to have just made them all up in her sleep. She was always in them, running in bizarre-looking locations with some human. 

Like any sensible borrower, Zepheera kept her distance from humans. They were huge, strong, and didn’t often take kindly to their belongings getting pinched, even the little things. And yet she didn't feel threatened by him in these dreams. Quite the opposite, in fact; more often than not, the sight of the man with the long coat and wild hair put her at ease.

He kept calling her name in the dreams. Every time, begging for her to answer, but she always found she had no voice before she woke up.

"You're really doing it, aren't you?"

Zepheera jumped, startled out of her thoughts. She turned around to find a young man with dark auburn hair, still dressed in his sleep clothes as he leaned against the threshold of her room. 

Doing all she could to resist withering under his indigo gaze, Zepheera nodded. "I'm sorry, I just… I have to know what it all means."

Marcue gave a slow nod, but she could tell from the look on his face that he still didn’t fully understand. “Gran, are you sure–?”

“Shh!” Zepheera hissed, closing the distance between herself and Marcue. She listened down the hall for a moment, relieved by the silence she found there, then whispered to the young man, “The children could’ve heard you.”

She counted herself incredibly lucky that her family had been understanding of her unique situation. When she’d discovered that she didn’t seem to age at all since she became an adult, her husband stayed by her side til the moment he passed on. Their daughter was as supportive as she could be while remaining her own individual. 

Having a grandchild was a slightly different experience, as Zepheera didn’t feel comfortable explaining to the boy that she was in fact his grandmother until he was a little older. It wasn’t necessarily that she was worried about Marcue accepting that fact, but she didn’t want him confused to meet other kids with normal grandparents that did not look like Zepheera, and to start asking questions that raised alarms. Zepheera wasn’t one to announce to others outside of her family that she was significantly older than she looked.

She took a similar approach with Marcue’s children. They were still quite small, even the oldest. In the meantime, Zepheera was seen as a friendly neighbor to them, a sort of adopted auntie that loved spending time with them when mum and dad needed a little breathing room. She had every intention of explaining the truth to them, but tonight was not the time.

Marcue sighed and insisted under his breath, “They’re asleep. But really, do you need to go this alone?”

Zepheera didn’t have an easy answer. Ever since her dreams started, she had this feeling that they were calling her somewhere far away, and left a lingering feeling when she awoke. Like there was something she needed wherever it was leading her. She couldn’t begin to explain that, and couldn’t bear to drag her family around for the sake of finding answers.

It didn’t make the decision any easier.

Overcome, Zepheera reached up to wrap her arms around Marcue’s shoulders and dragged him down into a tight hug. This startled him, but he soon hugged her back.

“I’ll be back,” she vowed, giving him one more squeeze before pulling away. “Please…tell everyone that in the morning.”

Blinking quickly, Marcue nodded with more confidence than before. “I will. Be safe, Gran.”

It was incredibly lucky that the human beings that Zepheera and her family borrowed from had decided to take a trip to London. That journey would have been exponentially longer for a borrower on her own. Once there, the real hunt would start.

Part of her dreams that stuck with her when she woke up was the image of a massive clock tower, which she later learned was named Big Ben. It was a city landmark, so Zepheera hoped it wouldn’t be overly difficult to find and get to.

More than that, she hoped that all this was worth the risk of proximity to human beings. They were a troublesome lot; recent technological advances made it harder and harder for borrowers to remain hidden like they could in the old days. And if that weren't bad enough, one of them had decided to unleash a horde of mechanical monsters all over the world years back. It was all over the news, even borrowers were aware of the threat of the Cybermen. They were spread out enough that the humans could put up a decent fight against them, but borrowers? No chance in hell against those things. 

Most, like Zepheera and her family, found safety in the country. The chances of cyber-attacks weren't zero, but slim enough that they could hope to live in peace, the traditional borrower way. Zepheera would be mad to try and get to the city, let alone on her own.

And here she was, doing just that.

Thankfully, the borrowers who had chosen to remain in the city had a decent handle on navigating it safely. She got very helpful tips to point her in the right direction, and once she was in the actual building, she could make her own way around the walls.

Zepheera stuck closely to them, as it appeared Big Ben was full of scientific and government types, both of which were up there in the types of humans she did not want to find her. If they did, she might never fulfill her promise to see her family again, lost to experiments or goodness only knew what. Still, she’d come this far, and couldn’t turn back until she could find a way to figure out what these dreams of hers meant.

The sight of a tall, slim, wild-haired man giving the other humans a fair bit of sass sent a jolt through Zepheera that felt like lightning running up and down. That was the man in her dream! He dressed a little differently and didn’t have the coat she saw, but he looked and sounded exactly the same otherwise. Maybe if she caught him alone, she thought, he might be willing to hear her out.

It was a risk, especially since he seemed to be one of the scientific types, but he was her only lead.

Lucky for her, it seemed that he spent quite a lot of time alone in his personal lab. Unlucky for her, that was all the way at the top of the clock tower, a hell of a climb for a borrower.

The lab was cluttered enough that Zepheera could make her way around easily without being detected. This human, referred to by the others only as ‘the Doctor’, seemed a bit of a volatile personality. If that was how he was with humans, she couldn’t help being a bit nervous about how he might react to her. But she steeled her resolve and snuck ever closer to the towering man.

He was hunched over his work, muttering to himself all the while. She took solace in the fact that it mostly seemed to be technological tinkering and not so much to do with anything biological, and she hoped that was a good sign. Biding her time, Zepheera seized the opportunity after someone brought him a cuppa and it seemed he was taking a break.

Zepheera stepped out into the open near the corner of the man’s work table, took a deep breath and cleared her throat. “Excuse me,” she said, doing her best to keep the nerves from putting a tremble in her voice.

Brown eyes turned quickly to lock onto her, going through an incredible range of emotions in a few seconds. At first he looked almost annoyed by the interruption to his day, then surprised by the sight of her, and finally an expression of deeper realization and a hint of awe.

“Zepheera??” he exclaimed, setting his tea aside and leaning in for a closer look at the borrower. 

She took a few steps back from his sudden approach, but stood her ground. There was something to all this, to this man, that she had to understand!

“How do you know my name?” she demanded with a much stronger tone than she thought she had in her. “Who are you?”

“Ohhh, well…” The man leaned an elbow on the work top and rested his chin there as he considered the tiny woman before him. “The answers to those questions are…complicated.”

Not one to put up with such an enigmatic non-answer, she crossed her arms and fixed him with a stern glare. “I’ve got all the time in the world.”

That earned her an actual smile from the man, one that seemed strangely sad to Zepheera. “I know you do.”
