Thank you so much, @petalbrooke! This is awesome! I love how much Sebastian and Abigail love Sam, and I can’t get over those hidden bits of maturity and depth Sam shows.
Three Friends & a Wedding
Petalbrooke
Gus was busy frosting a delicate flower on the top of a three tier cake when Haley burst in. She was carrying a large camera, already dressed in her formal wear, and was running around taking care of a hundred little things – telling Vincent he needed to get in his tux, double checking that the lights were right, inspecting the flowers Gus was piping at that very moment. She smiled, giving it a slight nod of improvement.
“Beautiful, Gus! How are the preparations for dinner coming?”
He waited a beat, making sure that the flower was perfect before stepping back. “Everything that needs to be cooked has been, and there’s a few more dishes that I’ll put in at that last minute. The cake is done,” he said, giving it a little spin on its rotating pedestal. “What about the decorations, Haley? And what’s the camera for?” he asked, giving it a wary look.
“Oh, I finished that this morning,” Haley said, primly brushing some dust off her skirt. “I’m running around town, getting some footage of everybody before the ceremony. I thought it’d be nice to get it on camera for Michele, and it’ll probably be chaotic at the afterparty.
Gus carefully moved the cake from the counter to the shelf in the back to the fridge, where it would sit until it was time to cut it. “Well, tell her she’s an absolute delight, and her Fairy Rose mead is the best I’ve ever had.” Haley nodded, knowing that Gus was too shy to appear on camera.
“I’ll see you later, Gus. I’ll get you on camera somehow!” she sang, waving goodbye.
She found Abigail and Sebastian holed away in the former’s room. To Haley’s delight, they were already dressed, both in nice fitting black suits. She made a mental note to arrange for a change in the Flower Festival uniforms. Sure, the powder blue was traditional, but it wasn’t flattering. “Glad to see you made it up, Sebastian,” Haley teased. He merely glared at her over his cup of coffee, still not completely awake.
“It’s my best friend’s wedding,” Sebastian said, not unkindly. “Of course I’m up.”
“What’s with the camera?” Abigail asked, piling her amethyst hair in a bun as some sort of experiment. Michele hadn’t specified anything; she just wanted everyone to be comfortable. “I know you’re doing photography, but I figured you’d wait until I was with Michele. Do you want me pretend to style Seb’s hair or something?” she said, throwing a laugh over her shoulder. Sebastian snorted over his coffee, though it lacked true amusement.
“I’m doing pre-wedding interviews,” Haley said, already setting up her tripod. “I wanted to get some footage of Michele’s favorite people talking about how much they love her on her best day ever. Hurry up and finish that cup of caffeine so you don’t look like you just woke up.” Sebastian sighed, but downed the rest of the sizeable mug in one gulp.
“Are you going to ask us questions, or is it more of a free range kind of deal?” Abigail asked. “I’m not great on camera.”
Haley rolled her eyes. “Abi, you look stunning on camera and off, with the charisma to boot. Just start talking and don’t worry about flow. I’ll do whatever cuts I need to do. Both of you, sit there,” she said, pointing to the one clear wall in Abigail’s room that didn’t belong to her guinea pig. They complied, slightly squished. It would have to do; she didn’t have time to set up a whole studio.
“Abigail, you start. How are you feeling?”
Abigail squirmed in her seat, her eyes darting from the camera to Haley and back again, unsure of where she wanted to focus her gaze. “Well, nervous probably covers most of it. But also… happy. I’m sorry, I can’t talk the way Elliott does,” she said, scratching the back of her left ear. A nervous tic. Haley gestured vaguely, indicating that no, it was fine, just keep talking. “But you should have seen the look on Sam’s face when he told us Michele had said yes.”
“Oh, you should have been there when he finally decided to commit,” Sebastian added, his eyes brightening now that they’d really turned to the topic of his best friend. “We were playing pool, you know, the usual, and I’d smoked those two in five games already-“
“Three, it was three games.”
“Regardless, I had smoked them in all the games we’d played, and he just got this look on his. I remember poking at him with the stick because he’d gone all slack-jawed.”
“Looked like that time he got shocked trying to fix the sound equipment and fried half his eyebrows off,” Abigail cackled. They went like this for a few minutes, back and forth about the various ways Sam had caused himself bodily injury on stage, in rehearsal, just messing around with their instruments. Haley didn’t interrupt, knowing it was all good footage, now that the two of them had melted into the natural ease of their friendship.
After a few minutes of ribbing, Sebastian seemed to remember that he had originally had a point. “Oh, Abs and I were worried. We thought that maybe he was having a stroke. And finally he came to, and in the most reverent, tender voice, he said ‘I’m going to marry her.’”
“We knew who her had to be. Obviously, he had been smitten with Michele the day they met. But we hadn’t expected the marriage thing so suddenly,” Abigail said, reaching for Sebastian’s coffee, and frowning when she saw there was none left. “And then he just ran off!”
Haley started, genuinely surprise. Everyone had heard the engagement story. She hadn’t realized he hadn’t even planned it.
“You mean to say that Sam caught her at their favorite place in the Valley, while the sky was all shades of pink and gold, and the wind was blowing just right, and he proposed to her then, without any other thought to it?”
“Yup,” Sebastian said, his eyes gleaming with a hint of pride. If Haley didn’t know better, she thought he might cry then. “We helped him pick out a ring the week before, but he said it was just in case. He’d know when the right moment was. The right moment just happened to be after I smoked him in pool.”
“He needed at least one victory that night,” Abigail crowed, and it took some time to get them back under control. Haley glanced at the clock nervously – she had other people to visit, and she wanted to get some footage of Sam as well.
“And what about them together?” Haley blurted out, knowing that if she didn’t interrupt them, they’d go on until sundown.
“They’re perfect,” the pair said in unison. Haley hoped they had somehow rehearsed that answer; otherwise it was rather unnerving.
“Sam is sunshine, and Michele needed that when she took over that old farm. But Sam needed her too.” They glanced at each other again, and Haley motioned for them to go on, please, film wasn’t cheap!
Abigail stood, Sebastian’s coffee cup still in hand, and made her way towards the kitchen while Haley scrambled to gather her camera and follow. “Sam was going through some stuff at the time. He hadn’t heard from his dad in a good while…” she trailed off as she turned the faucet on, letting soapy water fill the mug, not looking at the camera. She didn’t need to say more for Haley to understand. “Sebastian and I supported him as much as we could, of course, but it was a hard situation. He was falling into a depression. We had to call Harvey once,” she added, brushing a stray curl from her face.
She tried to smile, but Haley could see in her eyes that it pained her, even years later, to talk about it. “But then Michele moved here, and they just clicked. Maybe at first it was the novelty of a fresh face in a town of, like, twenty people. It morphed into them hanging out all the time, and he was taking care of himself, and he was just so happy.”
Sam is always happy, Haley thought, but then, she didn’t know Sam. Not like these two did. And even without knowing him so personally, she knew his brand of cheeriness changed when Michele was around. They were two planets whose orbits danced within each other, two brightly shining stars that only served to make the other more brilliant.
Abigail’s smile had warmed as she continued, leaving the earlier sad memories behind. “Michele was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. I don’t know… I don’t know if he’d be the same person now, if she hadn’t come when she did.”
Sebastian nodded solemnly, though that solemnity didn’t last long. “He’s still the same loser when it comes to pool, though.”
Haley glanced at her watch and started at the time, realizing she’d been recording them for at least half an hour, with little time left to talk to Sam. “I’ve gotta go,” she muttered, hastily gathering her equipment, though neither one of them really seemed to notice – they were both too busy still ribbing on Sam. “See you both in a bit!” They both waved, and Haley walked at fast clip to Sam’s house. She was going to get this footage and make Michele a lasting memory if it was the last thing she did, she swore to Yoba.
~
“Sam?” Haley called, not bothering to knock as she entered the home he still shared with his parents and brother. Although that wouldn’t be for long – obviously Michele couldn’t abandon her farm, and wouldn’t five be a bit of a crowd? Vincent was sitting on the front couch, already dressed in a dapper little tuxedo. Haley prayed to Yoba that Jodi was holding on to the rings he would have to bring down the aisle. Kent was beside him, sliding him the occasional fruit gummy to keep him from whining about the suit. Jodi was nowhere to be seen – perhaps she was helping Sam, or maybe already in the square, putting some finishing touches on the decorations.
At the sound of her voice, Sam poked his head out of his room, his wild blonde hair subdued, but only slightly – the most he had done was tuck in the hairs that had flown out of place, which was a lot for him. He was mostly dressed, but still struggling to tie his bowtie.
“Can you help me with this?” he called, and she shoved her way into his room. He hadn’t seemed to have packed anything – sheet music and clothes were strewn across the floor, his bed was unmade, and all his books were still on the shelves. Haley reached up and swiftly tied the bow, patting his chest.
“There. Now you’re ready to meet your bride.” Sam’s grin, already naturally large, only expanded, nearly meeting the tips of his ears. He flushed a bright red and chuckled, fluffing his hair in the back and messing it up even more.
“I bet she looks so beautiful right now. Have you seen her? How is she doing?”
Haley shook her head, setting the camera up for what would hopefully be the last time before the ceremony. “She’s gorgeous, I’m sure, and doing fine, but I haven’t seen her yet. I’ve been running around collecting memories from the townsfolk, and I wanted to get a few words from you before we had to get out there.”
Unlike Abigail, Sam had absolutely no problem being on camera. In fact, he relished it, flashing the camera a cheesy, over the top grin. “I’m not used to being on camera without my guitar,” he said, his fingers drumming an erratic beat on his thighs.
“I’m sure you’ll be a natural. Now tell me about when you first met Michele? Was it love at first sight?” Haley breathed, her fingers shaking as she made sure Sam was in focus. She’d dreamed a love like that, had grown up watching princesses in movies fall for a man who rescued them from unfortunate circumstance. Sam and Michele were nothing like that – they were better, and she didn’t know anything like that could have existed before seeing them.
Sam nodded, the beat picking up as he slammed his palms against his thighs. “Oh, I don’t know if it was love. That takes time, you know? But I was awestruck when I saw her.” His eyes took on a dreamy, far off look as he remembered the day she’d appeared on the train to take over her grandfather’s farm. “She was just stunning, and a little shy. I was afraid to say something stupid, and I’m sure I did… after falling on my face going to shake her hand,” he laughed.
Haley remembered that. She’d been part of the crowd that had gone to greet her, and Sam had tripped on a tree root and falling flat on his face, acquiring multiple scratches and a nosebleed.
“I’m lucky she let me take her out to the saloon later. Though, it’d been weeks at that point, and I’d done enough to kind of fix my image in her eyes.”
“And then?”
“We fell in love,” Sam said, as it were as simple as that. “She challenged me to become a better version of myself. She gave me the confidence and support to get our band off the ground. She gave me…” he scrunched his eyebrows in thought, trying to figure out how to word whatever he was thinking. “I don’t want to say purpose, because a person shouldn’t give you purpose. But she shows me, every day, how beautiful the world is, and how beautiful we can make it, if we work for it.”
It was, perhaps, the most mature thing Haley had ever heard Sam say, and she felts tears beginning to form at the corners of her eyes. She blinked rapidly, trying to suppress them; her eyeliner had taken too long to smudge now. A bell chimed, and she started, knowing she’d only have a few minutes to set up her camera for the ceremony.
“That was great, Sam, she’ll love it, don’t be late!” she called, gathering everything in record time. He followed her out, eventually finding his mother, who smoothed down his hair.
Maybe ten minutes later, everybody was seated, Haley in the prime position to catch Michele walking down the aisle. Jas had already thrown the petals out, and the rings, thank Yoba, were in their proper place. Everyone stood and turned at the sound of a door opening, and rather than focusing on the bride – there would be plenty of time for that – Haley shifted the camera towards Sam’s face.
The expression that dominated his features was the most lovestruck Haley had ever seen on a person. He’d been fidgeting waiting for the ceremony to start, but the sight of Michele in a gown that perfectly accentuated her figure – compliments of Emily – had stilled him. His jaw had slackened, but his smile couldn’t be wider, and his eyes had widened in actual shock. It was as if there was nobody else in the entire Valley.
Haley adjusted the camera as Michele took her place across from him, smiling just as widely. They were so focused on each other, it was a miracle that they could repeat their vows. They had found a home in each other, and as they sealed their union with a passionate, slightly-too-long kiss, Haley knew it was going to be better than any fairy tale.

@gaba-kawa / @petalbrooke WE GOT HEARTS IN THIS HOUSE
LBR she flirts like. A lot. She’s a master wordsmith even if she might not seem like it with her typically casual way of speech, but every time she’s in the Mart Of Joja? She’s gonna say SOMETHING flattering to Morris on the way in, even if she’s just there to get more lemonade and go back to work.
She does get flirted with a whole bunch too, mostly by one of her right-hand men because all he cares about is getting in her pants (until a certain someone comes along wink wonk @sirens-stardewvalley‘s Karmen) but Alex “tried” to flirt with her once but it was just sexist bullshit (the way he talks to female characters at no/low hearts is insane) she so she almost ripped off his legs. Morris is also suave so he fires back but that just starts a back and forth that can last for a while and then nobody gets any work done. I also feel like Emily may find her attractive? So there’d have been a teeny bit of casual mutual flirting there for a little bit too. I feel like Clint would’ve maybe WANTED to flirt @ her as well but we all know he’s got crippling social anxiety and also Anderson is just fucking terrifying so that never would’ve seen the light of day.
Now, aliens? 100% believes in them. There’s no way that aliens aren’t out there SOMEWHERE. It’s just scientific fact. Even if they’re little bacterias, they’d still be aliens. (We’ve already found some on Mars I believe?) PLUS didn’t the dwarves in the valley supposedly also come from space/aren’t they non-native to the planet? I feel like aliens would be something she’d have a couple books and documentaries on to watch when she’s extra bored and needs some extra stimulation. I can totally see her inviting her mining team over for like… astronomy nights and stuff. They all just crowd into her living room and eat snacks and watch documentaries and crappy B horror movies about aliens abducting hot ladies.

Stardeween Day 1
“It all started with Lewis telling me I had to take part in the Spirit’s Eve celebrations, being an integral part of the community and all that. The problem is I’d never actually celebrated this holiday, I didn’t even hear about it until going to school. My mother’s religion absolutely did NOT have it and most of those on the Ferngill islands didn’t celebrate it either. There was such a diverse mixture of cultures from around the world, we all just did our own thing. Many just saw it as a mainland celebration and didn’t pay much attention to it. The only exposure I had to it was after going to college on the mainland and then it just seemed like an excuse to party and get drunk. Joja definitely didn’t have any sort of thing for it, it might show a sign of livelihood and we couldn’t have that. So I needed to decorate the farm and it would be to awkward to have to explain all this to the villagers so I’m going to go to the one person who I know wouldn’t judge me and should know a thing or two about spooky things.”

“As it turns out Krobus knows nothing about carving these pumpkins but I’ll get this figured out!”
Later in the evening...
Tumblr media
So today kicks off the first day of stardeween that @stardewevents is hosting! I’ve decided to do a sort of journal thing of the week leading up to from Kris’ perspective of her first Spirit’s eve.
Bonus pic of my jack o lantern! Everyone thought it was just a pumpkin carved into a pumpkin 😩 but good for keeping Krobus’ identity secret ;)

Au where Mapleshade dies instead of her kits
"Mapleshade dies instead of her kits au"
Well, given how Frecklewish ignored them drowning in canon and Appledusk's/Riverclan's reaction to Mapleshade showing up in camp, I dunno how well received the kits would be.
So there's a few interesting ways I would see this going, first is the kits are welcomed in Riverclan but grow up feeling resentful of the clan and their father (cause even if they didn't remember Mapleshade, I doubt Appledusk would let them forget). I could see Patchkit getting the worst of it for looking like Mapleshade and Petalkit being the most, uh, bothered by her own resemblance to her father. Larchkit isn't too bothered by the clan but still feels out of place, like he would've been better off in Thunderclan (although he probably wouldn't be tbh). For the most part they're just warriors that belong to Riverclan rather than Riverclan warriors, I don't think they would live very happy lives but they'd be alive and well for the most part. (Given mommy dearest doesn't visit them on a nightly basis, but I think Mapleshade would just be happy they're alive)
Another way is that they're adopted by either Windclan or Shadowclan after being rejected by both Riverclan and Thunderclan. I'd like to think Shadowclan would happily take them in (but that's just based on my own 'Shadowclan doesn't care about what your blood is so long as you pull your own weight') but the idea of Windclan also snatching up 3 future powerhouses is really funny. I think they'd be happy in either but Patch and Petal would probably thrive more in Windclan while Larch would be very happy in shadowclan for just like,,,Thunderclan adjacent ness. This is one where I could see Mapleshade, while not having killed anyone and therefore probably not in the dark forest, is more involved in their dreams and wanting them to avenge her as they're not becoming great Riverclan warriors while their half siblings are. After a while I could see her giving up tho, as they are still becoming warriors and due to her dream visits are at least aware of what happened to her and are very hostile towards thunder and river.
Another is that they're adopted by that barn cat Mapleshade ran a few times into during her novella. Myler raises them to be good and kind cats and while he doesn't know what happened to their mother or what the clans are, nor can he quite explain their strange dreams they keep happening, he's a good dad. This one would probably be where Mapleshade is the most like her canon self and wants them to go back to clans and kill all the cats responsible for her banishment and following death. They ignore her for the most part but I could see one of them getting curious over time and straying too close to a border.
And some warrior names for them depending on where they end up!
For Riverclan they're named Patchshade, Petaldusk & Larchtail.
For Windclan they're named Patchcloud, Petalbreeze & Larchflight.
For Shadowclan they're named Patchshine, Petalbrook & Larchswoop.
And for the barn they just go by Patch, Petal and Larch but the twolegs call them Britches (Patch, cause he's got pants in my design), Lofty (Petal, named after a hayloft) & Chip (Larch, cause he's a warm chocolate brown)
And that's that! I hope you like the ideas, I'm not always a big fan of evil Aus so I hope I didn't disappoint you by not having one of them turn evil. Thank you for ask and sorry for the wait!

head in hands thinking abt the way maude's life could've gone depending on whether his family lived or not................. im forcing myself to draw it rn u______u
more details undercut
maude's family tree (names r kind of?? placeholders. some of them at least)
Tumblr media
life as maude the bard, ex-husband of a politician
the maude i'm playing as in bg3 ^_^ he was raised by his half-uncle, oswin. initially he grew up in the guild oswin worked at. later, he grew up in a selûnite church. he would then go on to marry a politician that taught him about music and arts. they divorced, maude thought he escaped the politician but, in the end he died (?) at that man's hands and came back to a time where his family no longer exists (present day bg). his ex-husband stole his life away from him, and the nautiloid gave him a chance to start a new life, though he didn't see it that way initially.
life as maude petalbrook, a cleric of selûne
if his parents lived, he would've been a devoted cleric that never pursued magic or music. he did not grow up in the lower city of bg. as an adult, he provides for children living there. he never meets or marries the politician and is perfectly happy and content with his life. the nautiloid allowed maude to broaden his horizons and become an even better version of himself.
life as maude hargreaves, the bastard heir
maude if his grandfather, wallace hargreaves, found him after the passing of wallace's other potential heirs (oswin, lorelei, and cecil). in this life, he would've been raised by wallace hargreaves and grow up miserable. he showed great potential in magic and was forced to become a wizard/sorcerer against his own will. maude feels deeply trapped and ends up in a political marriage. the nautiloid allowed him to see a glimpse of freedom that he chases after.
