some things from today
it was pouring just when the walk/bioblitz was scheduled to begin so the park naturalist just had us walk around the office building under the awning and look at what was on the wall until the rain cleared. i think that was a fun and interesting little idea rather than just sit around and wait. pretty successful, too!
the little yellow flowers are something in the genus Pectis and smelled incredible. the naturalist said they smelled like turpentine but to me they smelled like oregano. i desperately want to know if theyre safe to eat because i need to know if they taste as good as they smelled

ALKALINE IONIZED WATER | A GAME CHANGER FOR THE HEALTHY LIFE
Tumblr media
Water is essential to each cell, tissue, and organ in your body and probably the easiest way to remain hydrated. But did you know different forms of water has different impact on our body? We mean water with distinct pH values for different forms. alkaline ionized water is more nutritious than anything, there are reports. But is that it?
Let’s look at some of the details and answer some of your main alkaline ionized water questions:
IS ALKALINE IONIZED WATER BETTER THAN NORMAL DRINKING WATER?
In general, people have become more health-conscious over the years. Yet many of them are still not aware of the fact that it is necessary or advantageous or not to drink water everyday. Most households seem to be happy with a simple reverse osmosis (RO) water purifier in their homes, which successively drains water from the many minerals that are essential to the body, reduces its pH and alkalinity and thus produces water that is unfit for drinking. The solution lies in relooking at water purification in its entirety.
CAN WE MAKE ALKALINE WATER WITHOUT IONIZER?
Limestone is rich in pH, so if in a glass of water, you add any drops of liquid limestone, it shows high pH, but that does not mean water has become alkaline. So, the tested and safe technology for making drinking water alkaline is electrolysis by ionisation. This can alter water properties and visibly extract acidic compounds from water, as well as make water micro-clustered, antioxidant and preserve water alkalinity.
HOW SUBCONTINENTS WITH WARMER CLIMATE LIKE INDIA CAN BENEFIT FROM ALKALINE IONIZED WATER?
Alkaline ionized water is fortified by the delivery of important minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and trace elements such as copper, zinc, etc., which are crucial to maintaining the metabolism of the body. Drinking alkalized water improves hydration, improves balance, and improves the efficiency of exercise. Alkaline ionized water drinkers say that it offers greater hydration than normal water. Many of us in India suffer from dehydration, especially in the summers. A good way to keep your body well hydrated is to drink alkaline ionized water. Drinking alkaline ionized water has many other known advantages, including healthier bones and weight loss.
CAN YOU DRINK ALKALINE IONIZED WATER EVERYDAY?
Yes. It is completely safe to drink alkaline ionized water. Ionizer changes the property of water making it safer and beneficial to consume. One of the important as pectis the degree of pH in water which determines how acidic it is and varies between 0 and 14. A pH of seven is known to be neutral. Between acidic and alkaline, the pH level of 7 is called neutral or balanced. If water on the pH scale is below 7, it is “acidic.” If it is above 7, it is “alkaline.” And every pH value has its own advantages. For instance:

Improves digestion (pH 9.5)
Enhances the taste of your food (pH 10.5)
Sanitises your furniture, bathroom, and floor (pH 2.5)
Detoxes foot (pH 10.5)
WHAT IS ALKALINE IONIZED WATER GOOD FOR?
While there’s still a scarcity of proven research project, various proponents of alkaline ionized water claim to believe the subsequent benefits of alkaline ionized water:
Alkaline ionized water has ultra-hydrating properties relative to normal water. For those who do not want to try new things, alkaline ionized water is the best bet.
Scientifically speaking, the molecules are smaller and more readily absorbed in alkaline ionized water by our body cells, which allows our body to readily re-hydrate.
Alkaline ionized water benefits also include boosting immunity.
Alkaline ionized water helps our bodily system to neutralise the acidity that is caused by bad nutrition, stress, and environmental contaminants.
Alkaline ionized water is said to contain different minerals, such as magnesium and calcium, all of which are important for preserving healthy bones.
Alkaline ionized water has many powerful antioxidants that help prevent cell-damaging free radicals from spreading inside the body to slow down the process of ageing.
One of the key advantages of alkaline ionized water is that it neutralises our body’s acidity by reducing the unnecessary acid content in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract.
HOW ALKALINE IONIZED WATER HELPS TO BOOST OUR IMMUNITY?
Alkaline ionized water helps to enhance immunity and increases hydration. When inserted into the body (which minimises our efficiency), the acidic toxins present inside the body are neutralised. Alkaline ionized water inside the body is well absorbed, allowing the contaminants to be flushed out of the body more quickly. Alkaline ionized water is also believed to boost the efficiency of one’s cardiovascular system, suggesting improved blood supply and increased oxygen for vital organs. In addition, drinking alkaline ionized water or washing the face with it decreases the process of ageing. In comparison to normal water, drinking alkaline ionized water after a strenuous workout is extremely beneficial.
HOW ALKALINE IONIZER WORKS?
The machine purifies and then electrolyses normal water. Through this process, the negative electrode generates alkaline ionized water and the positive electrode generates acidic water.

I’m sorry, but I just don’t feel like writing for Uncertain Exerpiences anymore. I’ve moved on to Terrorhouse (which I’m planning on making part of a series called The World Of Awe), and a lot of my ideas weren’t that godo anyway. So I’ll share the spoilers and stuff so you can still know what was in my head.
The first part had this mystery of how and why Yeurn came back to life after a falling out with her ex got her killed. The answer would be revealed to be that she was turned into a Cross (where the heart is replaced with that of a Veira), and then it would be revealed not too long after that to be her brother, Irrit, who did it, thinking that it was unfair that she died that way and wanting to give her another chance. He feels bad about it so he keeps it a secret from her for ages. When she finds out, she doesn’t tell him right away because she’s waiting for him to tell her. Eventually she does, and tells him that she’s fine with it because she didn’t want to die that way either, she now has the really cool ability to control sound, and if he hadn’t done that, the Mirror Brigade wouldn’t have returned (I’ll get onto that next).
So anyway, the Veira are made up of fruits, the hearts are made from the remains of dead Veira after about a hundred years or so. The heart Yeurn was Crossed with just happened to belong to Gloro, but she wasn’t a Veira to begin with, she was a Flyer who was chosen to be in charge of the Very Centre for a while but was unpopular, and another Flyer who wanted to take her place convinced her to escape by having a Veira body created for her to inhabit. But she had to still leave a part of herself behind. Anyway, after meeting the other members of the Mirror brigade, she used that part of herself to enchant the mirrors without their knowledge.
When Gloro died, she knew she would return to the Very Centre, but Pecti had fallen in love with her so much that she knew she couldn’t leave him. So she tries to refuse, but that only made thigns worse. Now she had to wait a long time while her remains were stored away before being made into a Veira heart. Oh, and Pecti had gone to the Very Centre to see if he could see her after learning the truth from the Veracity Mirror and the History Mirror, but the others thought he wanted to change reality to bring her back and they tried to stop her. But the other Flyer trapped them all in their mirrors. From their perspective, only a few minutes went by until they were freed though.
Queseft was freed early because her mirror just happened to end up near the same place that Gloro’s remains were, and Gloro was able to reach her. She ended up working there while also learning mroe about the Veira, and as she grew older she came up with ways that the Veira’s powers could be used in technology. She also ended up creating the first Cross when she brought back someone who had died unfairly. But then people wanted to steal her research to abuse what she’d learned, and they ended up killing the man she loved and her unborn son Anma had to grow up without a father.
She also had another son, Garqerra, when the same people threatened to turn Anma into a Cross several years later. She let herself be Crossed instead and gained water powers. Her heart was used to make a Veira, who was then rejected and sent to her for “not being powerful enough”, but he was eventually discovered to have healing powers that were kept a secret and when the family accidentally revealed it, they came back for him (more on that later).
So anyway, Yeurn has Gloro in her mind without knowing it, and that leads to Liecah being freed from the Varacity Mirror. Then she, Liecah, and Irrit try to steal the Locality Mirror to help find all the others, and it turns out to be owned by the first Cross that I mentioned earlier. Yeurn ends up falling after stealing it and gets badly injured, but is found by Garqerra who heals her. She also discovers the broken Destiny Mirror, where Queseft is looking for the other pieces. Garqerra ends up getting caught because helping Yeurn made him easier to catch. She meets Siyoaka, Queseft’s grandson, who has dreams about the future. Eventually they meet back up with Liecah and Irrit, they free Seurtch, and find that the Rationality Mirror is on Veiru (the Veira planet), where it’s dangerous for Fallers to go, so Yeurn and Siyoaka have to stay on Soeone (the moon). Liecah also can’t go because a long time ago there was a disease that was very dangerous to giant Veira after the Mirror Brigade disappeared, and the other giants froze themselves (because giant Veira can survive any temperature) until it was safe again.
So Irrit and Seurtch go to Veiru, where Irrit learns about how Seurtch and Liecah knew each other, and how they helped Liecah figure out who they wanted to be (Veira usually identify as male or female or both, Liecah didn’t want to be either). While there, Irrit finds out that his Cross power (oh right I forgot to mention that, Irrit gets Crossed early on in the story by someone who will become important later) is to change temperatures. He accidentally unfreezes the giant Veira, but they find the Rationality Mirror and once back on Soeone, they free Uayn and the disease on Veiru goes away (but they don’t know that just yet).
After that is stuff I didn’t really spend time coming up with. All I know is that it lead to Queseft believing that the last piece of the Destiny Mirror that she needs is embedded in Yeurn’s heart, and that it’s Pecti who’s “possessing” her. Yeurn believes it too, but Irrit knows that couldn’t be true but he can’t tell anyone without giving himself away. Eventually she decides that if she takes the piece and releases Pecti from the Destiny Mirror, she can take the mirrors to the Very centre and change reality like he tried to. But the others point out that it makes her no better than him, and then Gloro reveals herself, tells the truth, and then brings out all the pieces of the Destiny Mirror, turns out it was actually Siyoaka who had it in his heart, but Pecti was preventing him from telling anyone because he thought it would kill him (he survives). She frees Pecti and then says that she can stay with Yeurn until she dies, or return to the Very Centre, but the mirrors will lose their power. Yeurn ends up letting Gloro go.
Liecah goes back to Veiru after hearing about the giant Veira, but before they do, Siyoaka tells them that they’re likely to die soon. Irrit also tells them that he was the one who turned Yeurn into a Cross. Yeurn goes to stay with her father for a few days. That’s the end of the first part. This post is getting long, so I’ll reblog it and add more.

Saurian DevLog #66
I want to open this week’s DevLog by welcoming our new programmer Syri to the team. He would have introduced himself but he is, in his words, “good at technical writing, not people writing.” Syri specialises in network programming as well as AI, and we are super happy to have him on the team.

Since we released the last patch, I've finally been free to get back to work on the refactor required for implementing Triceratops' more involved social life. This involves writing a centralized manager for all social groups that allows for easier access for cross-referencing, lookup, etc., while the previous (hastily assembled) system allowed animals to keep their own, private records of group composition. It has also meant expanding on the generic, rule-based settings system for defining group composition and allowing for multiple types of groups within the same species--age-segregated subadult herds vs. adult-child herds in Triceratops, for example. While I haven't finished any of this, it is far enough along that the animals are successfully organizing into groups based on the given constraints, as seen here:
Above, you can see the result of dropping a bunch of Triceratops into the world together: red lines connecting members of an adult-child herd, blue lines connecting members of a subadult herd, and a single, lone, adult male who was unable to fit into either of the other existing groups based on their composition rules. The centralized group approach is going to make it much easier to share information between group members, which is essential to our plans for fleshing out social coordination and group dynamics. While I've been taking my time on this part of the system since it's foundational for much of the remaining parts (and therefore I need to get as much right on the first pass as possible), the next steps will be a bit more exciting -- adding in intra-group communication, group dynamics, and all the behavior that accompanies them. I hope to be showing those off soon. Fingers crossed!
Tom
I have continued working on animations for Triceratops and Pectinodon, the latter of which I will be showing off today as we’re in to the dull nitty-gritty stuff for Trike, like turning animations and various stand-to-sit-to-sleep transitions.
Here is one of several idle animation variants I did for Pectinodon. When I was looking for inspiration for this fella I ended up gravitating towards the shoebill stork. As a large-headed, leggy, predatory bird, this fella really has the vibe I was looking for.
While looking at videos of these guys I found one with a preen (self-grooming) that I really liked and was interested in trying to replicate. This turned out to be quite difficult, as getting the neck to bend that way naturally was a task. I think I managed to make it work though, and I ended up pretty proud of this animation. I also think its only fitting that we have this dinosaur use its teeth in this way as the name Pectinodon does mean “comb tooth.”
I have so far enjoyed coming up with threat displays for the various animals so far. Pectinodon’s has a little backstory though. When doing sketches for the art book (still available here), friend-of-the-project Richard “Pickle” Hein asked me what behaviour he could depict Pectinodon doing. I suggested a threat display, with some pictures of owls for inspiration and he came up with the lovely illustration to the right here.
I thought it was only right to convert this into the full-blown threat display animation for the animal. I couldn’t get the pelvic hackles to stand up as Pickle drew them because Jake didn’t give them any controls but I think it gets the point across. I also made sure it went along with the excellent threat sounds that Xico made for Pectinodon but you’ll have to wait for a later date for those.
Jake
I’ve been doing more animations for Trike and Pecti too. Like Tom said most of the Trike animations have been pretty boring. After the locomotion which I’ve been putting on Twitter, I went ahead and did this drinking animation. I would have done more but Henry gets insecure when I don’t play video games with him when he wants.

Our header screenshot this week is by community member Terraseninian. For our community spotlight I had to shout-out Discord member Andy for this awesome Ankylosaurus war club! He’s planning to paint it Saurian colours too, and we’re super excited to see the finished product!

A hereditary witch is one who is born into a tradition of esoteric origin. These traditions are often not recorded, except maybe in grimoires which are also passed down, but rely primarily on oral and physical tradition.
Hereditary Witches are generational in that their skills in magic are passed down from one generation to another. Most tend to be solitaires with traditional, British, Mexican, Italian, Stegheria, or pecti-witan upbringing. The Hereditary Witch is most common in parts of the world where families live together most of their lives for generations and community services such as education and health services have remained inaccessible over several years such as Africa, the far northern regions of Scotland, remote regions of Ireland and Wales, island provinces such as Bali, etc.
In America, Appalachian "granny witches" also pass down their skills and craft to their daughters. So, in this way, many granny witches are also hereditary witches.

More About The Yule Sabbat
Tumblr media
By shirleytwofeathers
The Winter Solstice or Yule is one of the Lesser Wiccan Sabbats, and it is also the shortest day of the year, and hence – the longest night. This usually takes place on December 20th or 21st, although it does sometimes occur on the 22nd or 23rd (check your calendar as it changes from year to year).
Other than the most common name of Yule, various other names for the Winter Solstice include:
Midwinter
Yuletide (the Teutonic version)
Alban Arthan (Caledonii Tradition, or the Druids)
Feill Fionnain (Pecti-Wita Tradition, which falls on December 22nd).
Yuletide lasts from December 20th through December 31st. It begins on “Mother Night” and ends twelve days later, on “Yule Night”, hence the “Twelve Days of Christmas” tradition. Alban Arthan, unlike all the others, is not considered a fire festival.
Some other names for this Sabbat that are used less commonly are: Sun Return, Pagan New Year, Saturnalia (Roman), Great Day of the Cauldron, and Festival of Sol.
Yule is a time of the Goddess of the Cold Darkness and the birth of the Divine Child, the reborn Sun God. It is a time of renewal and rebirth during Winter, and the turning of the Earth force tides. A time when the waxing Sun overcomes the waning Sun. In some traditions, this is symbolized by the struggle between the Oak King and the Holly King.
The Holly King, represents the Death aspect of the God at this time of year; and the Oak King, represents the opposite aspect of Rebirth (these roles are reversed at Midsummer). This can be likened to the Divine Child’s birth. The myth of the Holly King/Oak King probably originated from the Druids to whom these two trees were highly sacred. The Oak King (God of the Waxing Year) kills the Holly King (God of the Waning Year) at Yule (the Winter Solstice). The Oak King then reigns supreme until Litha (the Summer Solstice) when the two battle again, this time with the Holly King victorious.
Examples of the Holly King’s image can be seen in our modern Santa Claus. He dons a sprig of holly in his hat, wears red clothing, and drives a team of eight (total number of Solar Sabbats) reindeer, an animal sacred to the Celtic Gods (deer). Mistletoe and holly came into modern Christmas celebrations through the memorializing of this battle. The holly with berries are hung in honor of the Holly King and mistletoe in honor of the Oak King. Although the Holly King and Oak King are mortal enemies at the two Solstices – Yule and Litha – it should be remembered that they are actually two sides of one whole, and neither would exist without the other.
Since this is a Solar Festival, it is celebrated by fire and the use of many candles orthe Yule Log. The colors of the season – red and green – are of original Pagan descent. Symbols representing Yule include an eight-spoked wheel symbol, evergreens, wreaths, holly, mistletoe, Yule Trees (very similar to the familiar “Christmas Trees”), or a small potted tree, and Yule Logs.
The act of decorating the Yule Tree, wreaths of holly, and the exchange of gifts are also Pagan derivatives. The Yule Tree can be a living, potted tree which can later be planted in the ground, a cut one, or even an artificial one. The choice is yours.
Appropriate Wiccan decorations range from strings of dried rosebuds, cinnamon sticks, popcorn or cranberries for garlands to bags of fragrant spices hung from boughs. Quartz crystals can be wrapped with shiny wire and suspended from sturdy branches to resemble icicles. Apples, oranges, lemons, nuts of all kinds and cookies hanging from boughs and branches are strikingly beautiful; and can be real or artificial, depending on your taste. These natural decorations were customary in ancient times. The reindeer stag is also a reminder of the Horned God. You will find that many traditional Christmas decorations have some type of Pagan ancestry or significance that can be added to your Yule holiday.
Deities to honor at this time of year include all Newborn Gods and Sun Gods, and all Mother Goddesses and Triple Goddesses. Appropriate Yule Gods include Apollo (Greek), Ra, Osiris, Horus, (all three are Egyptian), Lugh (Irish-Celtic), Odin (Norse), Father Sun (Native American), and Jesus (Christian-Gnostic), to name a few. Goddesses might include the Morrigan, Brigit (both Celtic), Isis (Egyptian), Demeter, Gaea, Pandora, Selene, and Artemis (all five are Greek), Juno and Diana (both Roman), Astarte (Middle Eastern), Spinning Woman (Native American) and the Virgin Mary (Christian-Gnostic).
Ritually, you may want to light fires within the Circle (in the cauldron, for instance), light candles and carry them around the Circle or bring the Yule log into the Circle and include it in your ceremony. Bayberry candles can be burned to ensure prosperity, growth and happiness throughout the following year. These can be inscribed with runes for health and money, or whatever is desired before lighting. They shall be lit at sunset and allowed to burn until they go out by themselves. An old Germanic poem says “A bayberry candle burned to the socket brings food to the larder and gold to the pocket.”
Spellwork for balance, beauty, peace, and harmony are great to perform at this time of the Pagan year. Love spells and spells to increase happiness are also appropriate. Key actions to remember for Yule are introspection and meditation.
The most common colors used at this Sabbat are red and green, but gold and white are also quite appropriate. Stones to be used at this celebration include bloodstones, rubies, and garnets. Animals associated with the Yule Sabbat are stags, squirrels, wrens and robins. Mythical creatures associated with Yule are the Phoenix, and trolls. Herbs and plants that can be used include holly, mistletoe, evergreens, poinsettias, bay, pine, ginger, valerian, and myrrh.
The foods of Yule include nuts, fruits such as apples and pears, cookies and cakes of caraway soaked in cider, and (for non-vegetarians) pork are all traditional fare. Fine drinks for the Yule celebration or meals include Wassail (a hot drink made from wine, beer or cider, spices, sugar, and usually baked apples—served in a large bowl), lamb’s wool (ale mixed with sugar, nutmeg and the pulp of roasted apples), hibiscus or ginger tea, and apple cider.
