Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a condition, not a disease that cannot be cured, although it can be controlled!

Reposted from @blessingmanifesting September is #PCOSAwarenessMonth so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about it. PCOS is a hormonal condition where the body produces too many androgens, or "male hormones". This causes problems like irregular and super painful periods, insulin resistance, and ovarian cysts for many (but not all) of people with PCOS and a lot of other symptoms.⠀ ⠀ My wife has #PCOS and it's we've had so many discussions about how difficult it is not only on a physical level - but an emotional/mental one as well, which has been the hardest for her. ⠀ ⠀ PCOS often comes along with hirsutism, or excessive hair growth. Some people with PCOS can grow facial hair, even full beards (she can, and it's a mighty fine looking one! One of the positives of wearing a mask out in public is less shaving!) But when she was younger she'd shave her face twice a day just so that no one would see.⠀ ⠀ So many of the symptoms have a HUGE impact on your self-esteem and your body image and they aren't often talked about. Infertility is probably the most talked about symptom but there are so many others. Hair growth on arms backs, chest, and stomach. Skin tags, acne, and dark patches of skin are also signs of PCOS, as well as weight gain and difficulty losing weight. Hormonal imbalances often cause mood swings, depression, anxiety, headaches, and insomnia as well.⠀ ⠀ If you're experiencing a significant number of these symptoms talk to your doctor.⠀ ⠀ #pcosaa #pcosproblems #pcoscommunity #polycysticovariansyndrome #polycysticovarysyndrome #pcosresearch #pcosresources #pcossupport #cysterstrong #cysterhood #pcosawarenessmonth #pcosfighter #pcoswarrior #pcoslife #pcoslifestyle #pcossymptoms #pcoshealth #pcosawarenessmonth2020 - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/CE11gUWDeNV/?igshid=1igieqtky991z

🙋‍♀️We have all been in that situation where we say we are going to start eating healthy. . But our perception of eating 'healthy' is often just eating a plain and boring salad made up of the key salad ingredients, tomato, cucumber and lettuce...🤦 . But healthy eating isn't just boring salads. . Healthy eating involves eating balanced and nutrient dense meals containing all 3 macronutrients, protein, fat and carbs. . It's not about avoiding a whole food group and trying to eat the least amount of calories. It's about nourishing your body with whole foods and enough food so that you support your hormones and have energy to thrive. . So next time you think about changing your diet and try to eat healthy, remind yourself that while the plain boring salad is great, it's not enough. Broaden your horizon. Don't be so fixated on healthy eating the dieting way. . . . #pcosoracle #hormomehealth #gethealthywithme #healinghormones #pcoscyster #pcoscysters #hormonebalance #pcosweightloss #nourishnotpunish #holistichealing #womeninspiringwomen #pcossupport #pcoslife #womensupportingwomen #pcos #pcoslifestyle #periodproblems #pcosdiet #pcosawareness #pcoshealth #womenswellness #choosehealthy #pcosnutrition #fashionturms #holistichealth #pcosjourney #periodpositive #pcosweightlossjourney #empoweredwomen #Repost :@pcosoracle https://www.instagram.com/p/B36GuqYl2Ep/?igshid=z8xlq3d1dd3d

Way too much emphasis on #infertility is about the body supposedly being too old or somehow defective. This is a lie. Something has interrupted your fertility. You can clean up your diet and workout and do all the right things and still not conceive. You can go through rounds and rounds of assisted treatments and still not conceive. A healthy body begets a healthy menstrual cycle, yes. But when you've done all of this and still can't conceive, what is left? Two weeks ago I connected the dots between the messages I received growing up about my body, pregnancy, and motherhood. These messages included threats of physical violence, being shamed and shunned for having a baby before it was deemed socially acceptable, and that mothering was a burden. When you develop the body literacy that is menstrual cycle awareness and the physiology of birth, you learn the role hormones play fertility and labor. Understanding the role cortisol plays in inflammation and how inflammation contributes to #PCOS, I realized that I have spent over 25 years in a state of fear of my body and pregnancy. My body literally shut down my fertility because it did not feel safe. I've been sitting with this. Women with uteruses spend so much time learning to fear and resent their bodies. There's so much to unpack and unlearn in a culture that both demands our reproductive ability be put to use and then punishes us for it. Fertility is much more than about making babies. It is a vital sign. If conception isn't happening for you, where else do you need to look? #pcoshealth #pcoshealthcoach #pcosttc (at Flag Poles) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTLxJbgTNn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=o7gv747nzf7f

|| Lindsey’s Story || . . || Least helpful or infuriating thing someone has done while she was struggling || . . "Comparing their body to mine. Or just talking about other people’s bodies or their own body image woes. It kills me. I get we all have body image troubles but when I’m struggling the last thing any of us needs is someone pointing out, “Well, you could look like this or that. Or have this or that.” Don’t COMPARE. It’s the basis of all this cultural crap anyway." . #NEDAawareness Thank you Lindsey, for sharing your story! Research has found that what people eat has a significant effect on PCOS. That said, there is currently no standard diet for PCOS.
However, there is widespread agreement about which foods are beneficial and seem to help people manage their condition, and which foods to avoid.

PCOD Treatment
Tumblr media
PCOS is a very common problem in women. More than a million cases are found per year in India itself.
Many women are not even aware about this problem and take it just as irregularity of periods. Because of this, it becomes even more difficult for them to combat it.
Awareness is the key to treatment. Educate yourself about PCOS and do not delay in seeking medical help.
