as for gojo's route, yeah, to be quite honest i can't in good faith imagine him in any lifetime or in any universe with anyone other than suguru. not even in a sappy stsg otp way, but like, just going off of my own personal notes of his characterization.... to me, pairing him with someone else -- even a self-indulgent MC -- would be egregiously out-of-character LOL. this was actually a point of writer's block for me as i was drafting final girl. like, i knew i wanted to tackle satoru. but i also knew there was no way i could convincingly or ethically produce a route where you were the object of his affections. had to take the cowards way out and have him kill you, lol, but at least we get lore? (more will be revealed in the final updates... i promise...)

Besir for the Fictional Character Ask

Favorite thing about them: That he is seemingly a very minor character and is overlooked by everyone (including the reader) but plays such a vital role at the end. The brief glimpse into his psyche that we get here; it really surprised me when I first read the novel. His name ironically meaning “the one who gives good news”. Him being a sympathetic rendition of the eunuch figure in tales like Tahir and Zühre. His coughs being used as a leitmotif signaling danger and suspense in the third act of the story. I love quite a bit about him despite him really not being that present in the novel. He is a very memorable figure.

Least favorite thing about them: Him being much less developed than most of the other characters while also being the only Black character. I do get it, readers have to overlook him just like the characters do for the ending to have a punch, and Halit Ziya does have more developed Black characters in his short stories, but it is still unfortunate.

He also technically engages in voyeurism, I don’t care that much about that but it is worth pointing out.

Three things i have in common with them:

- I sometimes feel lonely and divorced from my surroundings

- I did feel overlooked by others during my teenage years

- I have dark eyes and hair

Three things i don’t have in common with them:

- I live in the country I was born at

- I am not Black

- I didn’t die of tuberculosis at the age of 17

Random headcanon: Not a headcanon, but it is an implication that many readers might overlook: He really did not care that Adnan Bey was being cheated on and only told the truth when Nihal’s life was in danger.

Unpopular opinion: That his presence in the novel serves to morally implicate all the other characters and serves to make the book much more cynical. The tragedy of all the other characters at the end could have been far more earnestly melodramatic if it weren’t for it being juxtaposed with Beşir dying and none of them caring that much about it.

Song I associate with them: The famous Turkish song Kimseye Etmem Şikayet, since he is tragic but uncomplaining.

Andres lies to Sergio that he is dying and convinces him they need Palermo for the first bc he can’t do it without him bc he’s ill

Oslo wouldn’t have died bc Palermo intervenes.

Moscow wouldn’t die because Oslo intervenes and takes the bullet in some arbitrary place that doesn’t kill him.

Moscow wouldn’t let Berlin sacrifice himself. In the flashbacks we see Berlin promise Moscow that they will both leave or neither would leave the Mint (this is after the ‘I take my shits in the early morning so my poop particles don’t linger in the air long enough for anyone to inhale bc I’m a lady’ argument

Berlin uses Adriana anyway to help boost his lie of being ill and also to make Palermo jealous

Tatiana is a whore

Sergio discovers Andrès lied about having his mother’s illness in order to manipulate Sergio into letting Palermo in the first heist

Berlermo angst for the 2 years

Nairobi wouldn’t die in the second heist because Moscow who is now bff with Berlin has taken a special interest in Palermo (bc he can tell Palermo is in love with Berlin) and is able to convince Palermo to not leave the heist

Palermo doesn’t leave the heist and doesn’t have his moment with Gandía so instead of forming a team and helping him escape his hand cuffs Palermo is able to take over for poor Rio when Gandía slips his cuffs and manages to take him down.

Because Gandía is recaptured, he is unable to kill Nairobi.

Tatianna is a whore

With the extra manpower of Oslo, Moscow, Nairobi, and the early reveal of Manila, the team is able to spot Arturo and stop him from attempting a coup.

They keep the browning and their ammo and Mónica never shoots Arturo

Oslo joins Helsi with the sandbags and is able to get them both to cover in time before Helsinki gets his leg crushed though he sustains a much minor injury

Mónica never shoots up while playing nurse to Helsi bc Nairobi is there helping her. Mónica is able to shout up the dumb waiter much earlier and alert Denver, Tokyo, and Manila

Tokyo, Manila, and Denver split the grenades with Rio who has dug the hole through the ceiling. Tokyo still gets shot but only in her arm and they throw their grenades over. Denver drags Tokyo down the shaft after Manila where they fall on the cushions just as Rio is able to pull the pin on the last grenade, toss it through the widened hole in the ceiling and drop down underneath the desk for cover as the kitchen blows up and all the bad guys die as far as we know.

Tatiana is a whore

The second part of Volume 5 happens and no ones dies because I say so and Benjamin does some terrific things that surprise everyone bc he is small and old and cute and I love him and gives the baby plenty of lgtbq+ teddy bears and blankets and things

Sierra makes Sergio the godfather of her daughter and falls in love with Marseille

Bogota and Nairobi have Ibiza

Denver and Stockholm aren’t stupid anymore and Moscow becomes a grandfather (again twice bc twins!)

Martìn and Andrès continue their angst and pining ways throughout

Martìn falls in love with Helsinki but Helsinki tells him no because he knows Martín and Andrès are OTP

Helsi ends up with Oslo’s cousin (who is the magically perfect man for Helsi in every way)

Oslo buys himself a new motorcycle and adopts a dog

Andrès finally admits Tatiana is a whore and marries Martìn and it’s Berlermo ever after

Valentine's F/O Letter Exchange

First of all, if you're reading this and you're thinking of writing a letter to me, thank you so much for considering to research and write for a character from this kids' show from the 80s! The chance that anyone else in the selfship community has watched The Real Ghostbusters is very slim, so I'm kinda taking a long shot here, but I really hope I receive a letter anyway!

I'm going to leave this post pinned on my blog in hopes that it will make things as easy as possible for you. I'll give some info on Ray and me and our relationship together, along with some specifics on what I am or am not looking for in a letter.

Ray is... Ray is just a sweet happy boy who loves ghosts. He's been called "The Heart of The Ghostbusters". He's kind and enthusiastic and genuine, and he's also brilliant. He took this ambulance/hearse from the 50s that was barely running and he turned it into the perfect vehicle for the work that they do with such incredible precision. He BUILT the particle accelerators they use to bust ghosts!!! And he's the one who keeps them running!!! But he's also just a regular guy who's kind of a geek. He collects comic books and toys and watches horror movies and cartoons. I've giving you way more information than you need, but just... Ray's the kind of scientist who is the exact opposite of how you expect a scientist to act. Sweet and warm and friendly and mine.

So moving on to me, or rather, my self insert. Her name is Violet and she writes horror novels for a living. Specifically, she's writing a successful series about ghosts. She moved to New York City from Boston about five years ago and since then she's been incredibly lonely. She doesn't leave the house much, she's very quiet and shy, she's never really had that many friends. She's a nerd, she loves cartoons and horror movies and comic books and her home is full of toys and stuffed animals. Beyond her quiet demeanor is a sweet girl who loves to be helpful and care for the people around her. And beyond that is the weirdest girl you've ever met in your entire life who loves slime and monsters and gross stuff and gets excited when the ghost gets all scary and growl-y. Even when the ghost is right in front of her, and it's not a movie.

Ray and Violet met at a horror movie convention, where they bonded over their mutual love of obscure black and white horror movies from the 50s. When Violet mentioned she was planning on writing a ghost story, Ray offered up his expertise on ghosts. Violet took up his offer, and started showing up at the firehouse the Ghostbusters operate out of to have long conversations with Ray about his experiences with ghosts. Soon Violet was riding along on missions to experience an encounter with a ghost herself. Ray and Violet were friends for a year before they began dating. They're just cute geeks together, they understand each other in a way no one else ever has, and they accept each other completely. I've written a few fics about their relationship before, and you can find them and some more information about Ray and Violet under the tag otp: apocalypse lovers. I'm just gonna tag this post with that to make this easier.

Oh another!

What i like about them/dislike about them

Now what do I wanna say about yusei..

Tbh i quite like his personality. (atleast where its interesting when shown.) i mean he's not exactly the most emotional. (i don't think I've seen him cry other than brunos death- i can't remember)

I mean also the meaning of his name being in reference to the yusei gear is something i like because (despite saying that the centre gear that keeps everyone turning being duel monsters/speed duels) in a sense to everyone else he's like the center gear that keeps them perusing. He's pretty much the centre gear to team 5ds. Everyone trusts him and he trusts them. And i like to think of it that way (thank ep 80 for the whole gears anonolgy). Tbh what i don't like about him is actually hard to say. If I had to shame anything about him. It'd probably be the fact that he's had only 1 technical loss (via flashback) i personally would've been OK if he lost once or twice more just so people don't consider him a Mary sue bc his almost perfect win loose rate just because having a few losses kind of builds up to the protagonists because they have to find a way to over come them. And it would've been nice to have seen yusei just have a brief period where he goes over where he needs to improve to win but trust me I'm not really someone who tends to moan on that much at all (you can stop your complaining those who do see him as a bit of a Mary sue now. I mean hey Vrains is literally 2 episodes away from ending and yusaku/playmaker has pretty much won all his duels. But don't start shaming him either ok.)

What i like about their appearance

1. The crab hair is good both shape wise and color wise. The black and gold definetly suits him

2. Under the jacket is a tank top and i appreciate tank tops.

3. The WRC outfit 👌🏻

4. Ok yknow that one episode where he bruno and sherry snuk into that place and yusei kinda looked a little like a girl- i appreciate that look too

It's a "yu in first name" protagonist it's exactly the same either way. So there's honestly no change.

Hmm.. Tough choice. Tbh in the anime it's gotta be a tie between stardust dragon and junk berserker or destroyer. But in the manga yknow how yusei wasn't the one with a kuriboh in the anime. Well in the manga he has a kuriboh too. Junkuriboh! I just appreciate him a lot (along with the other manga kuriboh that belonged to the other protagonist who didn't have a kuriboh in the anime)

Im kinda all over the place with how much I've watched of 5ds but i quite like the scene when whilst yusei and bruno were working on making a new engine for the WRC and they talk about the revolutionary that yusei's dad Dr. Fudo set with speed duels and that and how they talk about yusei being named after the yusei particle year and then the whole thing about the center gear being duel monster n that. I just find it an interesting analysis. And kinda cute.

Can we just talk about what the Heck was up with his motorcycle from 71-2 and then bbt bc apparently back in ep 71-2 it could only fit one and so aki had to perch on the back. Meanwhile in bbt there's now room for judai to fit on it as well- I mean it just seems strange that's all I'll say to it

The rings of Saturn glittered around the starship, ice particles and mineral debris suspended in the void of space—a haunting sight to behold as the Asphodel cruised by. The crystalline shards refracted the faint blue glow of the ship’s arc reactor, stretching glossy rays of light out into the velvety expanse of darkness. Rhys reached a hand out, wondering it the lights would stain her skin, leaving a piece of their essence behind on her. 

“—and, of course, a new 270-degree viewport.” Flair and PK-89 strode onto the bridge, the latter babbling on enthusiastically about the recent renovations to the Asphodel. Taking up their positions at the control board, the chief engineers greeted Rhys with a brief salute. 

Flair’s milky-white gaze lingered knowingly on Rhys. “Sad to be leaving, Captain?”

Rhys sighed. “Earth will always be my home, but duty calls us onward.” 

“A penny for your thoughts on the Asphodel’s renovations?” PK-89 asked eagerly. 

Rhys laughed, amused by the android’s effort to pick up Terran slang. “I think the renovations are great. Our fuel efficiency is incredible, and we’re able to carry a lot more cargo than before, which is fantastic. And if you’re happy, I’m happy.”

PK-89 whirred, the lights on his chest blinking animatedly. “As a being of artificial intelligence, I do not experience the emotions of biological life forms. However, if I did, I hypothesize that I would, in fact, be expressing in the emotion you have labeled as ‘happiness.’” 

“As you should,” Enyo, the Asphodel’s chief medic, said, ducking to avoid smashing his massive, curling horns into the doorframe as he entered the room.

Flair lifted a mischievous eyebrow. “Ah, our overpaid healing pod operator has arrived!” 

Enyo rolled his eyes amiably at Flair’s teasing. “The med bay is fully stocked, and we’ve added some pretty impressive state-of-the-art tech as well,” he reported with a salute. 

PK-89 straightened in pride. “Only the best for the first human to captain an expeditionary vessel in the Intergalactic Union.”

“Terrans REPRESENT!” Reuben shouted as he ran onto the bridge, his fists raised in the air. Lara, the Asphodel’s chief security officer, stalked in after him, her mandibles clicking exasperatedly. The two stopped before Rhys, snapping to attention. “You make me so proud to be a human, captain,” Reuben said earnestly, wiping away an imaginary tear. 

Lara shooed the pilot towards his seat. “Not sure that she’d say the same, Rube.”

Reuben gasped dramatically, clutching his chest in mock horror. “You wound me, Lara.”

Rhys glanced around the room, conducting a quick headcount. Two chief engineers, one chief medic, one head pilot, and one chief security officer, which meant they were missing—

“Never fear; Ares is here!”

Rhys sighed. Her old first mate had recently retired, and Ares was her IU-commissioned replacement. “You’re late,” she said, bristling. 

“Fashionably late,” Ares corrected. “And who doesn’t love a fashionable co-captain?”

“First mate,” Lara snapped, narrowing her many eyes. “Don’t get ahead of yourself.”

Ares smiled indulgently. “Actually, if you take a look at my contract, you’ll see that I was commissioned as the co-captain of this ship.” 

Enyo growled—a low, guttural sound—and took a menacing step forward. Flair stopped him with an iridescent hand on his chest, though she too eyed Ares distastefully.

“We’ll discuss this later,” Rhys said levelly. “Now, since you’re all here, I’d like to go over a few things. First of all—”

“Wait!” Ares pointed at the control board. “There’s a distress signal coming in!”

Flair frowned, typing in a few commands. “They’re just scavengers.” 

“Sure, but a distress signal is a distress signal.”

PK-89’s lights flashed red. “This is an Intergalactic Union expeditionary vessel; we are not authorized to engage with scavengers, according to Article 11 of the Interstellar Trade—”

“As a representative of the Intergalactic Union, I authorize engagement!” Ares pointed at Reuben. “You there—ready to drop anchor!” he declared with bravado.

Even Reuben seemed at his wit’s end. “Ares, this is a starship,” he said flatly.

Ares frowned. “Do… starships not have anchors?”

Flair and PK-89 exchanged looks of alarm, and Enyo groaned as Reuben dropped his head into his hands. “What, pray tell, would we have to anchor to in the depths of space?” Lara hissed. 

Ares blinked. “Uhhh…”

Rhys sighed and began to count down the days until Ares’s contract expired.

What was your first experience with 30 Seconds to Mars? A friend had bought their first album and brought it over while hanging out. We listened to a few songs, I immediately fell in love. She asked me “Guess who the lead singer is? It's Jordan Catallano!” I was so stunned. 

Your Favorite Mars song? I could never pick one. There is one for whatever mood I am in. I love Attack, a lot of the old stuff, Buddha for Mary... They have changed so much over the years but I still love all their sounds.

Has anything ever happened to you solely because of being a 30STM fan? There are people that I met only because of Mars, and friends I have made in the fandom I wouldn't have otherwise.

What is your favorite thing about the fandom? Your least favorite? I think this is a very welcoming, supportive, and open fandom for the most part. It does have certain cliques, which is all right, everyone has their things they're into, but it would be nice if they got along a little better.

Is there any advice you would give to someone who is new to the fandom? Don't get too caught up in rumors. There are some people who are crazy obsessive and love to trash talk. It's a strange combo.

How long have you been writing? Since I was in elementary school.

Why did you start writing? (Either in general or for Mars specifically) I went through a catastrophic health event a few years ago. I found myself stuck at home and mostly bed bound, looking at a slow recovery. I started reading more, and also reading more fanfiction. I restarted my Tumblr account and came across some Mars writers. @thepromiseofanend and @fyeahproudglambert were actually among some of the first writers I read here and very much inspired me to keep writing for the fandom.

Do you write for other fandoms? If so, which ones? I have written for other fandoms in the past but right now the only one I am writing for is Mars.

Do you share everything you write? If not, is there a reason why? No. Not everything I write is Mars related, and some of the pieces I am working on only sporadically and I will share when I have more of them written.

Have you written things that aren't fanfic? If so, could you tell us about those works? I have written plays and screenplays, short stories.. I write a lot I am currently working on a paranormal novel that is original fiction.

Of all your works, which is your favorite and why? I think Fangs and Fairytales is probably my favorite, I love horror and vampires and the paranormal, and it's fun to play with an alternate timeline like that.

Is there one that was particularly difficult to write? Why? There is one I am working on currently that is not yet published that I draw from some difficult personal experiences and struggles. I am not entirely sure I will share it when I am done.

What is the ideal writing environment for you? At your desk? Quiet? Music? I work on my laptop and I prefer to have silence. I can't stand having the television or music on when I am writing. The location doesn't matter much but the silence does. If I can't get silence I will put on headphones with ambient sounds, like thunderstorms. When I was writing the first part of Thunderbirds, I had a site that had cafe sounds that I listened to a lot.

What type of fanfic are you most comfortable writing (drama, fluff, angst, drabbles, series, etc.) I absolutely love to write angst. I torture my characters mercilessly. I also tend towards long pieces.

What is your favorite fanfic trope? Enemies to Friends, Ooops there's only one bed, Mutual Pining

Is there any trope or subject that you won't write? There are certain kinks that I don't care for, and extreme stuff is off the table. Don't make me name them all.

Are there any special tools that you use when creating or writing your story? I use either Open Office for short pieces or Scrivener for longer more structured stories. Grammarly is a lifesaver.

Do you write your story in order or do you jump around and then string it together at the end? Mostly in order. I am a very linear thinker.

Do you outline, or do a great deal of prep work or do you 'fly by the seat of your pants'? I have a general outline and a plan for each story. Some are more detailed than others.

How do you usually get your inspiration? Dreams, music, other stories, movies... I get so many ideas, it's the execution that's an issue more than inspiration.

Do you have ideas on the drawing board or in progress currently that you haven't shared yet? Yes. I have two series that I am working on. One I had originally planned to be ready in a few weeks but due to illness I am behind.

If you have an unpublished work in progress, please pick two to three sentences and share them without context.

Jared assured me however that he was fully prepared, gripping me ever tighter as he pressed me into the upholstered bench seating, no sign of shyness in regards to the driver who was currently ferrying us through damp and intimate back streets. The evening's earlier rain had broken and everything was left looking freshly glazed, colors amplified in reflection. It would have been a lovely drive through the Latin Quarter if he had paused from his advances long enough to look out the window.

Do you like requests? Would you like more or less of them? I love requests but I don't always have time. I have several series I am actively working on for myself, several things in the lab, another collaboration as well as original work. But one of my favorite oneshots (Overtime) came from an anon request. You can always ask. I may not be able to fill it but you can always ask.

Is there an upcoming project from you that you are excited about? Why, and what can you share about it? I am excited about all my writing. There is one piece that won't be coming for a while but it's a new Shannon series with a rather different romantic interest.

The best piece of writing advice you've ever received? Eliminate your inner audience. Whenever we write we have a tendency to think of the people who might be reading it and how they will react. It can limit us from being true and fearless with what we are producing. Write for the characters, focus on the story, and don't mentally allow other people to look over your shoulder. Especially when writing smut.

The worst piece of writing advice you've ever received? For overcoming writer's block: Just sit down and write. If I could do that Karen, I wouldn't be complaining about writer's block.

What piece of advice would you give to someone just starting to write fanfic? Don't worry if you don't get a lot of attention to start. Don't worry if your stories aren't as good as others. Just keep writing and try to make each piece a little better than the last one. Compete against yourself. Your writing will grow and develop as you continue to work and as it does you will find your audience.

Three (stories, series, scenes, etc) written by others that you really like or that inspire you? Only three? I think Save Me by @spillinginkwithlove was probably the thing that truly drew me in. Closer to the Edge (@thepromiseofanend) has my OTP of Mia/Jared. @darklydelicousdesires has my favorite piece of Shannon smut, Double Measures

Are any of your characters closer to being “you” than others? Any reason in particular?  All of my characters have tiny pieces of me in them, whether it's a taste in food or future aspiration. In a lot of ways, I think I'm more Jane than anything, a lot of Jane and Roger’s childhood memories come from my own experience growing up in small towns in Illinois and Indiana -- but there are characters in two pieces I am working on that draw deeply from a lot of my life experiences.

Are any of your characters based on someone you know? Roger (from Thunderbirds) is actually very strongly based on an old boyfriend of mine.

Are any of your plots based on something that happened to you? The upcoming pieces Bodies, Rest and Motion and Mirror Ball both draw strongly on my own personal experiences, although the characters are unique as are the circumstances. The stories aren't autobiographical in any way, I have just drawn on things that I have been through and know to create something that conveys those experiences.

Favorite font for writing? Segoe UI ( In 14pt because I'm blind)

Do you consider yourself a reader outside of fanfic?  Yes. I love to read.

Your favorite book? I don't know about any one book, but I love Brandon Mull, Tad Williams, and Charlaine Harris. Also Poppy Z Brite, Terry Pratchett, so much science fiction and horror.....

Your favorite things to do when you're not writing? I love to cook, watch movies, binge Netflix, hang out with my dogs, play video games and just be with my family.

Two truths and a lie? I owned and ran my own catering company, I lived briefly in Italy, I was the drummer for a punk band

Something surprising about you? My original career ambition (and the college program I started in) was for experimental high energy (particle) physics. I still love science. I am a huge nerd.

Favorite food to enjoy while watching Netflix? Popcorn, of course.

Favorite way to spend a Saturday night? The activity doesn't matter to me as much as the company. I just want to be surrounded by good people. I love a good meal and a card or board game with friends and family. (I love tabletop games and have a small collection. Gloom and Betrayal at House on the Hill are two of my favorites.)

Do you have any pets? Would you like to tell us about them? I have two rescued pit bulls that are big love bugs (Twilight and Lokii) and two cats, Coyote and Mayhem. Lokii is the only one that is technically mine (Twilight is my son's dog, and the cats are just household pets) and Lokii never leaves my side. He is very protective and watches over me when I am feeling ill. He is also very goofy and loves to play

Are there any particular battles or struggles in your life you'd like to tell us about? I've been through a lot. I have somehow managed to pick myself up and keep going each time I've been knocked down. You have to keep putting one foot in front of the other, no matter what. There's really no other choice. Just keep going. There's always something good ahead.

Anything you'd like to add? I am horrible at initiation and maintaining friendships. It's mostly an anxiety issue, I feel like I'm annoying people, I think they don't want to talk to me, that they simply tolerate me... I know there are lots of you that can relate to that. Chances are really good that I'd like to talk to you, even if I seem stand-offish or seem to have withdrawn. Please don't ever take it personally. And if we've never talked, well feel free to say hi, or ask me a question. I love to chat, I really do, I'm just bad about keeping things going until I get used to people. I take ridiculously long to get used to people. I guess what I'm saying is I'm a big mess and I have social issues but if you're into that, come chat with me.

OOC: Headcanons: Deefus’ Aliens.

(( So here’s where I probably jump the shark, but strap in, Fonzie, it’s gonna be a bumpy night.

Out there in the universe there was this Extranet TV show that made our boy Ben look like a member of that old WildCATS cartoon or Ultraforce or something. In that instance, Ben was played by Deefus Veeblepister, a Sludge Puppy Lenopan shapeshifter who was basically his own special effect, morphing into a ten-count of aliens that weren’t... exactly... ready for prime time. 

It was this version of Ben 10 that Rooks Blonko and Ben knew and loved before either of them met the true Benjamin Kirby Tennyson. 

Thus, in an ongoing storyline with @rymccrimmon10, when Rook Ben ends up with his own replica Omnitrix with his own remixed set of ten aliens (shout out to the reboot!), Azmuth unlocks Rook Ben a Lenopan form so that he can use that to become the ten fictional aliens from his favorite cartoon. This Lenopan hero form is immediately christened Snotrocket (after Skurd!) in Rook Ben’s childish enthusiasm, but will eventually be renamed Proto-Ten, as in Protoplasmic Ten and a play on Rook Blonko’s beloved Proto-Tech. Presumably, when Ben unlocks his own Lenopan form, he will also use this name in deference to his fellow young Omnitrixter. 

But only two of Deefus’ doofus aliens are named or appear on the show. Unitaur and Slapstrike. So what were the other eight aliens that Rook Ben (or even Ben Tennyson) might become while Snotrocket/Proto-Ten?

Here’s my thinking, and keep in mind I’m trying to make the names intentionally ridiculous to evoke the era of comic bookery that Deefus’ whole oeuvre was playfully poking at: 

Recoil- Essentially a living spring, Recoil can leap at enemies and pinball off of surfaces or launch his compatriots incredible distances. Sometimes tumbles down stairs like a slinky. A parody of Crashhopper.

Sharkstrong- An underwater powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with in the depths, it’s actually difficult to use this form for long because of a Lenopan’s natural weakness against water, requiring effort and focus. A parody of Ripjaws.

Goobleck- A classic case of hiding in plain sight, Goobleck takes full advantage of the Lenopan shapeshifting abilities by just being a polymorphic amorphous blob whose powers are stretching and oozing. Vaguely chlorophyllic, he’s bright green like The Oobleck of Seussian tales. Goobleck is a parody of Goop with dashes of Wildvine.

HyperQ- While Deefus, let’s face it, wasn’t the brightest bulb in the chandelier (and neither were his creative team), a supremely talented shapeshifter conceivably could craft a neurological brain-structure super-efficient and high-powered enough to rival a Cerebrocrustacean or a Galvan. This guy has an exposed brain kind of like Animo or the DC villain Psimon, and speaks in ridiculous Reed Richards hundred-dollar technobabble. Obviously a parody of Brainstorm and Grey Matter.

“Weapon” Smith- An intentional deepening of the parody of snarling crosshatched gun-and-pouch-and-knife-laden 90s antiheroes, as well as TMNT’s Casey Jones and New 52 Arsenal and the Flarrowverse version of Arrow (whom I love), “Weapon” Smith is a heavily armed vigilante. As a shapeshifter, the Lenopan would be able to sprout basically countless edged or melee weapons, swords, sporting goods, caltrops, bows and arrows. While this doesn’t specifically parody any of Ben’s canon heroes, you could take a hard side-eye smirk at my version of Shellhead, who is essentially a ninja turtle and therefore descended from that same dark-90s self-parody spirit.

Devildawg- With no visible eyes amongst his spiky red red fur but extraordinary senses and a predatory, quadrupedal agility and ferocity, Devildawg blatantly mashes up Daredevil with Wildmutt. Sometimes squeals loudly and aggravatingly to echolocate, as you do.

Wunderbat- Leathery-winged and wreathed in darkness, with glowing eyes and a voice like Unicron gone wrong, this is the flight option in this ten-pack. Obviously mashing up Goliath from Gargoyles with that legendary Batman: The Animated Series, Wunderbat (voonderbat) is all about brooding on rooftops and discussing shadowy vengeance. Also, he has a prehensile tongue for that Venom aesthetic. Not specifically a parody of one of Ben’s aliens, unless you count the Omniverse design for Big Chill (of which I am not a fan). The name, of course, is a gleeful shout-out to an old OTP of mine, Wonderbat, which pairs Wonder Woman with Batman.

UniParticle- Taking advantage of a Lenopan’s inherent mass-shifting abilities, UniParticle can both get suuuuuuuper Nanomech small, or surge up in size to... not... quite as big and strong as Way Big but you get the point. Like the (Gi)Ant-Man family from Marvel or LeViathan from The Legion of Superheroes, versatility is key with size-changers. Tends to talk in stilted Power Ranger dialogue to really drive home the Way Big parody. Named for the characters of Universe Man and Particle Man from that one They Might Be Giants song.

And that’s that. As a side note, my dudes’ version of Unitaur doesn’t fire useless special-fx ping-pong balls, he fires condensed sludge-balls colored orange, essentially weaponizing his own mass.

Granted, I may never even use these guys... but it’s nice to kind of have them on my back bench in case I ever need to trot them out.

One question that gets brought up a lot is “did we invent or discover it?” And after thinking about it for a good while I have come up with a way to differentiate the two.

Discoveries are observations about the world that we can use to invent things.

Ex 1: Micheal Farady discovered electromagnetism ( A type of physical interaction that occurs between electrically charged particles) and invented the worlds first electric motor ( which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy via torque).

Ex 2: thermus aquaticus was discovered in Yellowstone national park and biologists discovered that it could make an enzyme called Taq Polymerase which speeds up the DNA replication process. They then used what they had discovered to invent a new and more efficient way to do PCR (plymerase chain reaction) by using the enzyme Tac polymerase found in the Thermos Aquaticus to speed the process up.

I guess it’s the difference between Science/Mathematics and technology/engineering. Though the lines can be debated.

I like to think about the first law of thermodynamics, that no energy in the universe is created and… none is destroyed. That means that every bit of energy inside us, every particle will go on to be a part of something else. Maybe live as a dragonfish, a microbe, maybe burn in a supernova ten billion years from now. And every part of us now was once a part of some other thing - a moon, a storm cloud, a mammoth. Thousands and thousands of other beautiful things that were just as terrified to die as we are. why do you prefer westallen over other flash ships?

lol… idk where this message came from; I’m so new to this site, that I’m surprised I even received an anonymous message, and I’m guessing this is in response to my post about Barry/Iris. In any event, this should not even be a question, because the answer is nothing short of extremely obvious.

What are other ships on The Flash in comparison to Westallen? Barry and Iris are the gold standard of television ships. Barry discovers his powers with Iris’s hand pressed over his heart. He is able to master the super sonic punch, because Iris is in danger, and all he can think about is saving her. Iris believes in the Flash and getting his name out there to the public, because she wants to prove that the impossible is possible for Barry. She discovers he is the Flash, because of a spark generated between their fingertips, a connection Barry does not even realize. Iris is so much a part of Barry that the damn speedforce reaches out to her, generating literal jolts of electricity between their fingers. Her voice is what breaks Barry out of Grodd’s mind control. Notice how the moment Iris finds out Barry is the Flash, she begins proactively utilizing her position as his lightning rod to save him. See: 2.21, when she willingly enters the speedforce to get him out. And 3.01 in Flashpoint; Flashpoint!Iris does not even know the extent of their connection, and yet she knows how to help him regain his memories that are leaving him, by telling him that she believes in him. My personal favorite is 3,21, because I love Iris having her own mini flashpoint, but also because she says that they’ve been in love since they were eleven (which we knew… she canceled dates to go see particle accelerators turn out with Barry). And then she’s able to spark his memories. But also, it's so beautiful and pure that these two children fell in love, because they gravitated to each other's warmth, to each other's hearts. And that love has only grown and intensified as they grew older. There is nothing more beautiful than that. And I cannot forget about 4.01: Iris leverages herself as his lightning rod, giving herself up to the Samuroid without batting an eyelash, to bring him back. And Barry serenades her with Runnin’ Home to You, loves her selflessly and ardently and tenderly, and never gives up the opportunity to tell her that she is home, she is safety, she is unimaginable happiness.

So… there are literally no other ships that compare. Westallen is undoubtedly that ship. And that’s why they’re my OTP. And also why lesser ships need to stop piggy-backing off of them (*eye-roll*). That being said, I do love Barrisco and WestPark. And, I do have soft spots for SuperWest, WestWells, and SuperFlash. Idk any other Barry ship or Iris ship, though.

Top 5 Favorite Mystic arte from the Tales series

(For this ask meme!)

Ooooooh hrmmmmm.  This … is going to be tough.  Because Mystic Artes are like, the awesome of awesome when it comes to Tales games.  And there’s usually at least one or two I love out of every game.  But here goes:

Tales of Zestiria: Aqua Limit (Sorey/Mikleo).  And this surprises precisely nobody.  I love soymilk, and I love that they have a joint mystic, complete with in-unison arte incantation, and I love how pretty it looks in game especially if you have the graphic settings cranked up (seriously, it’s so pretty with all the particle effects my video quality drops like a brick whenever I’m streaming Zestiria - this doesn’t happen with Flamberge for Maotelus’s sake) and it’s my OTP.  Performing a Mystic Arte together.  It’s just … perfect, y’know?  And Link’s version with the chibi Water Armatus Sorey is just equal parts cute and badass!

Tales of Berseria: Indignation (Laphicet).  Indignation is an arte with a long, long, long, long history in Tales.  It’s actually the very first arte you see in Phantasia during the prologue sequence!  And the incantation that’s used by Armatized Heldalf in Zestiria?  It’s the same one!  =D  It’s long been considered the ultimate spell of spells for magic users in Tales games, and depending on the game, it’s either a high level/final spell a caster learns, or it’s a mystic arte for them.  In Rays, Indignation appears as Meredy’s freebie Mirrage Arte.  Laphicet’s, though, is just Very Pretty, and definitely my favorite version of this truly epic arte within Tales.

Tales of Symphonia: Holy Judgment (Colette).  If I love Zestiria’s Aqua Limit for the OTP feels and Berseria’s Indignation for the epic version of the ultimate spell in Tales, then Holy Judgment is because of how well it embodies Colette and her personality.  The way you get her to use it is to get her to Overlimit, then start casting Holy Song.  Listen to her incantation, and when she messes up, well, even the cut in is of her going =P because she know she messed up her incantation, lol.  I just love the Japanese version where she’s saying she messed up, and then she gets both Holy Song and Judgment to cast!  XD

Tales of Graces: Broadside Waltz (Hubert).  First off, Hubert’s my favorite to play as in Graces.  I just, love playing him, and his artes (especially Rolling Thunderbolt!) and running up the hit counter with him, and I wish he’d get more love in the crossover games.  (Read: Hubert for Rays when, Bamco? I want to Rolling Thunderbolt all my enemies down.)  And I do just love how that arte executes, with him going all MOAR DAKKA with his Dualblades and finishing it off with that final hit.  Just … so cool.  But then Instant Balls.

Tales of the Rays: Leviathan’s Edge (Mikleo).  Because they did go all out with Rays to give us new pretty Mystic Mirrage Artes, and I felt like it was worth a mention.  It was a tough choice between Mikleo’s or Leon’s, but in the end, super pretty water mystic wins.  And seriously, Mikleo’s is honestly one of the prettiest ones (graphically speaking) in Rays, and I love using it all the time.

Special mentions (because damn it, I’ve played so many it’s hard for me to choose just 5!): Tales of Vesperia: Savage Wolf Fury (Yuri Lowell - Artorius, the original did it better) and Sacred Penance (Estelle - the background for that is so pretty) and Summon Friends (Patty Fleur - it’s just an entire mystic arte made of success/fail and it just cracks me up every time), Tales of Hearts: Solar Wind (Shing Meteoryte) and Final Fury (Kohaku Hearts - she’s got my favorite version of the arte), Tales of Destiny: Cleansing Inferno and Infernal Suffering (Leon Magnus - as if I could leave him out!), Tales of the Rays: Diablos Tear (Leon Magnus - my other favorite in Rays), Tales of Graces: Punishing Blossom and Trillion Drive (Cheria Barnes - she has such fun zappy mystics) and Sapphiring Squad and Ruby Inferno and Fever Dream (Pascal - honestly that back to back with Undine is just awesome and the punchy-punchy with Ifreet and also just mecha Asbel and Sophie appearing is just lulz) … I’m pretty sure I’m forgetting a few.  There’s just so many awesome mystics in Tales games, choosing 5 is almost impossible!

Favorite fics 2017

Hello! First of all, my English is very bad, lol—so, this gonna be ‘a bit badly written’. I apologize for my awful English but I wanted to do it by this way. And that all, thanks for reading! 

Well, I was just thinking about how much fanfiction I’ve been reading this year, and with that, what were my favorite, so I want to make a list of my 10 favorite fanfictions. Although they are not ordered by number or something, they are all equally great and fantastic.

When Barry and Len discover that they’ve accidentally become neighbors, they learn to navigate their new living situation amongst misunderstandings and a surprising amount of common ground. AKA the fun-as-it-comes Neighbors!AU which turns into a Pretend Relationship!AU filled with tropes, hijinks, and some vague notion of a plot.

This is my first fanfiction about ColdFlash, a friend mine was reading it and I was interested. IT WAS AMAZING. The situations in which Barry and Len put themselves for pretending were so funny. And RedHead’s writing was so exactly, so in character.

I was not really into Soulmates but when I read this, just—well, I love it. JUST THE ANGST, AND THE FREAKING POLT, AND—I can’t. Is too much for my heart. Len and Barry made me angry every time they something stupid, and that was often.

I love this fic so much, really, so much that I wanted to translate it into Spanish and RedHead gave me the permission to do [she deserves love]. So I do it! If you want read it, you can do it here -> Un Copo de Nieve Demasiado Afilado.

When I start read this I was no sure ‘cuz the ‘Slow Burn’ tag and the incomplete fic, they were things that hurt me, but I’m a masochist, hahaha—but now, I’m waiting for the next chapter. Barry makes me want to protect him from everything. HE’S TOO PRECIOUS FOR THE WORLD. Not, but, the fic really is very good, the plot about reapers doing their job is interesting. And fics about Rogues are my jam.

Basically my experiences with Zero Escape can be expressed with a “do it for her” graphic starring Akane Kurashiki. I adore her in all her complex, morally ambiguous, well-intentioned extremist, Machiavellian glory. So here’s my mix tribute to her, complete with the usual obsessively detailed annotations under the cut.

Fairly self-explanatory, this song easily applies to a girl who jumps timelines, changes history and tosses aside moral concerns for the big picture and greater good.

“time comes in particles” someone once said and this is what i remember/this is how my brain works.

Akane will do anything to stave off the apocalypse and every time she reunites with Junpei or other friends, they’re always completely different versions of themselves.

This song struck me as Junpei’s POV in the first game, where Akane is manipulating him like a boss, doing whatever it takes to stay alive and even hitching a ride in his brainspace and hey, he seemed pretty okay with that.

I went around and read some extra material about Akane, and apparently the future version of her in VLR gets so good at projecting herself through the connected timelines she becomes really detached and basically omnipotent in a way. She “loses herself” in all the repeating timelines, and this song expresses those feelings.

GLaDOS/Akane OTP? They kind of have the same ends-justifies-the-means attitudes when it comes to their experiments on people, so this song fits Akane well, especially adding in some vengefulness towards her kidnappers. Amusingly, Junpei indicated (in an assholish way) that Akane is also pretty fond of cake in ZTD, so even that part fits.

You could consider this from Sigma’s POV or basically any of Akane’s accomplices in her apocalypse-erasing plan. She (and Sigma and Phi and co) knew the world was going to end. They prepared for it and now Akane’s going to get everyone working to change the past.
