Karahi takes its name from the karahi (or wok) in which it is cooked. The chicken karahi is usually served with naan bread or rice, and it’s a perfect dish for any occasion.
I noticed that most Karahi traditional Pakistani recipes call for a variety of spices, including cumin, cloves, and cinnamon. This gives the dish a really unique flavor that I absolutely loved. The tomato broth in this traditional Pakistani recipe gives each chicken Karahi a slight sweetness and tang which makes it irresistible.

The meat ingredients used in nihari can also vary from place to place. The consistency of Nihari is oozing with a blend of spices. It is full of ultra-tender meaning floating in desi ghee. 8 Traditional Pakistani Recipes for Dinner
1. Nihari (Pakistani Beef Stew)
Beef stew is a hearty dinner staple in cultures across the world. No doubt in Pakistan, this dish is full of spice and soul. The level of flavor that comes from the aromatics in this stew is next level.
Tender beef is cooked in a spiced broth, then it’s thickened with flour and yogurt. This creamy and thick stew is best served with warm naan or white rice. For the best flavor, let the nihari marinate for hours before enjoying it.
2. Pakistani Seekh Kebab (Ground Beef Skewers)
Beef kebabs are a staple of Pakistani culture. I’ve learned that the key to great kebabs is passion and good spices. The ground beef is amply flavored with herbs, spices, and aromatics before cooking.
Whether they’re grilled, fried, or baked, they are delicious. Complete your kebab meal with naan, rice, and a fresh cucumber raita.
3. Keema Naan (Flatbread)
Cooking authentic Pakistani foods is all for naan if you don’t have delicious naan bread. This traditional Pakistani recipe is more than just flatbread!
Stuff the flatbread with seasoned mincemeat, and bake to perfection. Imagine a kebab inside of naan. Absolutely scrumptious. This is an easy lunch to serve, as it’s a whole meal in one!
4. Pakistani Chicken Karahi
If you’ve ever had Pakistani foods, you know they’re fragrant and flavorful beyond belief. This chicken is no exception to that rule! Chicken Karahi (also known as Kadai Chicken) is a chicken curry from Pakistan and Northern India.
The rich whole chicken is cooked in an acidic tomato masala base. The chicken comes out moist and tender, and mouthwateringly spiced. Because this is a “dry” curry, it’s best served with naan rather than rice. With just a little chopping and some hands off simmering time, you can have a flavorful curry dinner on the table in 30 minutes!
5. Pakistani Chicken Biryani
This chicken biryani is probably my favorite Pakistani dinner to make. It’s simple, savory, and ultra comforting. This traditional Pakistani recipe has loads of creamy spiced sauce, tender chicken, and potatoes on a bed of seasoned rice. If that’s not enough, it’s all cooked in one pan for easy cleanup!
Wait to stir the rice into the gravy until ready to serve. This way, you’ll have perfectly soft rice and loads of flavor! An authentic Chicken Biryani traditional Pakistani recipe with simple, easy-to-follow instructions (no curveballs!) and mouthwatering, traditional Pakistani and Indian flavor. 6. Chicken Tikka
Chicken tikka is one of the most popular foods in Pakistan, both for its taste and its nutritional value—that is if it is not accompanied by “naan.”
It is a sizable portion of chicken slathered in traditional spices and then grilled to perfection. Traditionally speaking, Chicken Tikka is made by preparing Chicken pieces in a spicy marinade and grilling them on top of Red hot coals. For the ultimate experience, dip the pieces of chicken in the accompanying mint dressing.
7. Chapli Kabab
Chapli kabab is Pakistani kebab meat flattened before cooking. Picture juicy, seasoned mincemeat in the shape of a burger patty. Roasting fresh spices before grinding elevates the fragrance and flavor of the kebab.
Allowing the meat to rest with the spices deeply marinates the meat before cooking. Serve your fried kebab patties with warm naan and fresh chutney. Simple savory kebabs are out of this world.
8. Aloo Matar – Vegetarian Curry
If you seek a dinner made from a traditional Pakistani recipe to fill your stomach after a long day, you should not neglect delicious and nutritious Aloo Marta. Moreover, it is a good choice for vegetarians, thanks to its plant-based ingredients.
Potatoes and peas are the main elements in making outstanding food. Its name is taken from the name of two primary ingredients when “Aloo” means “potatoes” and “Matar” means “peas”. Alternatively, it becomes more flavorful with a tomato-based sauce.
Today, you can find packages of Aloo Matar at supermarkets as it becomes a commercial product. You just need to buy them and heat them before eating. In addition, it also appears in the fillings of all kinds of Dosa.

Mango lassi is growing in popularity in western culture. The creamy, tart, and smooth flavors are a delicious finish to any Pakistani meal. There are two mango components in this traditional Pakistani recipe: pulp, and frozen, ripe mango chunks.
The fruit is blended with ice, whole milk, plain yogurt, and sugar. You might like to finish the drink with a sprinkle of cardamom for a sweet, spiced drink.
4 Delicious Traditional Pakistani Recipes for Desserts
17. Masala Chai Ice Cream
This traditional Pakistani recipe is the summer-lovin’, heat-beating companion of the beloved warm bevarage we all know and love, the masala chai. All those warming flavours, the cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, they’re all feel so familiar in this ice cream but at the same time so new when served in ice cream format.
In its flavor profile, this masala chai ice cream is stronger than the flavor of kulfi, since kulfi usually only uses cardamom (and sometimes saffron), but something you will definitely enjoy if you like those masala tea flavors.

There’s different types of semolina halwas in India and Pakistan. But this particular Suji ka halwa is eaten popularly paired with puri and makes a kickass halwa puri combo for breakfast!
Sooji Ka Halwa is a popular Indian/ Pakistani dessert served in breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It tastes great alone too but it is amazing when paired with poori.
19. Kheer – Rice Pudding
Kheer is the most famous traditional dessert in the country. It is a rice pudding made of rice, sugar, and milk. It combines an assortment of nuts, such as almonds, pistachios, and cashews, as well as saffron and cardamom to give it an alluring tinge that melts in your mouth with each bite.
The combination of chilled meethi kheer and hot namkaeen puri is mouth-watering. In Pakistan kheer is served in a pair of ‘kunda’, clay bowls. As clay pots helps evaporating water, kunda or matka kheer is richer and thicker too.

Do you have any faborite dishes you'd like to share with us? I'd love to be able to try Pakistani food and I wanted to know which ones are the best (though I'd love to try them all tbh)
To be Honest, I think you are asking the wrong person X’DBecause I, myself am a very Picky Eater.
So I’ll go ahead and mention the top food and beverages Ipersonally love to gobble up!
1. Biryani
Tumblr media
Is there any surprise? Personally, I like the Biryani mymother makes because she has developed a sort of her own recipe to make a spicyBiryani. Other than that, I think it would be best if you try Sindhi Biryani(Without the Potatoes please, just not the potatoes).
Sindhi Biryani itself has a unique taste, and it looksrather colorful as well. Also if you want to eat Biryani, I’d recommend eatingit with Raita (The kind made of yoghurt and vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers etc)
2. Samosas
Tumblr media
Samosas are a nice choice as well! I prefer eating thesewith ketchup. There is variety in the types of samosas you can try here, likesome are filled with mashed meat and others are filled with mashed potatoes. Both of these taste good but I personally prefer small, crunchy, meat filledsamosas (Basically the branded ones you have to fry).
some fried chicken samosas:
Tumblr media
3. Pakora
Tumblr media
Since it is Ramadan, it’s only fair enough that we mentionPakoras. Like Pakorays are essential in Ramadan. These are basically filledwith Potatoes, and other ingredients like ground flour, green chilies etc. (Idkmom makes these) and you have to fry them, so that they turn out nice andcrispy.
4. Mango Lassi
Tumblr media
Enough said, drink Mango Lassi, it tastes too good. But makesure that the mango you use, to make it, is sweet.
5. Pulao
Tumblr media
So basically these are a type of brown rice with any meat (Iprefer chicken since lamb meat gives me nausea). You can eat it with raita, orany curry you see fit. ADD IN THE SEEKH KEBABS TOO! Seekh Kebabs makeseverything taste magically better :3

Chicken Biryani Method - Famous Indian Rice and Chicken Dish!
This is among the most popular Indian / Pakistani dish which I have had the pleasure to eat whilst I was on a vacation in India.
It is historically kept for special events such as parties, weddings, holidays.
To know more about Biryani we need to go back into the past. An description of Biryani follows...
Mughals great liking for food & the availability of the great choice of Spices in India led to this fusion type preparation.
In the Mughal food traditions, biryani means rice made together with lamb meat but now chicken biryani has also become one of the most popular type of biryani. Even chicken biryani has too several variations and this is the purpose that I am writing the whole article to this delightful dish.
Tumblr media
Biryani is a fragrant rice dish prepared from a mix of Spices, Nuts, Cream, Yogurt, long-grained Basmati rice and Meat. This dish is an example off fine culinary art, hence it is cooked with perfection. The name is derived from the Farsi word Birian, which is frying of the rice in oil before washing. This procedure of rice frying makes the rice slightly nutty and it imparts a pleasant taste. Based on the name, and the cooking style the dish originated in Persia or Arabia. Along with huge number of pasttales, biryani is associated with some legends as well. One has it that Timor 'the Lame' brought it down from Kazakhstan via Afghanistan to north India. According to another fable, Mumtaz Mahal created this dish as a wholesome meal to feed the Mughal emperor's army. Gradually this well-liked dish has started leaving its footprint in almos tall Indian cuisines, such as Awadi, Lucknavi and Bengali cuisines. The popularity of chicken biryani is still dominant in the country as well as in global cuisines and various modern cooking styles are incorporated to make the recipe more palatable
There are 2 fundamental types of Biryanis: Kutchi and Pukki.
Kutchi- This technique makes use of uncooked ingredients. Uncooked chicken and raw rice are layered along with spices and curry and kept on low fire to cook. Dum Pukht or Dum is the most refined form of cooking that has been developed and vastly used in cooking of Biryanis. In Dum style, meat and rice is cooked over low-flame without adding water, in the meats own juices and bone marrow.
Pukki- In this technique cooked meat and rice are used Pukki style incorporates the separate cooking of rice and meat, then layering together.
South Indian biryanis are prepared with Kutchi method while North style biryanis are prepared through Pukki.
Though the procedure of making Chicken biryani is time-consuming but the resultant dish is every time wonderful. The secret of preparing a wonderful chicken biryani is all in the spices. I personally recommend using Basmati rice. It's thin and a fine grain rice which can be used for a variety of purposes.

Reasons Why Pakistani Cuisine is Superior to Others!
Food is the language of love and passion for many. There’s even a debate about whether we are born to eat or eat to live. The very first thing we do we the money we earn is, buy food. Until and unless our food requirements are fulfilled, we cannot think of anything else. Don’t believe me? Okay, imagine you had a long, hard day at work. You haven’t had any food all day. What is is that you will crave when you get back home? Is it some movie, a new book or sleeping? None. All you will be thinking about will be food! Good thing that it is so easy to order food online now, so as you can satisfy your hunger whenever you want to!
Coming back to the debate I mentioned earlier, if you have tasted Pakistani food, there is a high chance you might feel that you are born to eat because of how delicious it tastes! I mean, I can sit in solitarily and happily think about Tikka, karahi, nihari, etc. I should add that not only is Pakistani food delicious, it also looks and smells great too! All in all, I’ve concluded that Pakistani cuisine is superior to any other. To prove my point, I am going to list some of the most mouthwateringly delicious dishes, and then you can decide whether I am right or absolutely right!
Biryani:
Tumblr media
Yes, of course, this traditional, world-wide famous dish deserves the top spot on our list! Biryani is so popular that foreigners from all over the world know it and love it. There are many varieties of biryani and I personally love them all. But if you are choosey, then I assure you, there is at least one kind of biryani that is specific to your taste and you won’t be able to stop your hand from getting seconds and thirds of the dish. The enticing aroma and the beautiful outlook of the dish make it even more appealing!
Chapli Kabab:
Tumblr media
Chapli Kabab, also known as Peshawari Kabab is one of those dishes that is simple yet very tasty. The kebabs are made up of minced meat mixed together with onions, tomatoes and other spices and then fried. Chapli kababs are so flavour some that it is impossible to resist them. You don’t need anything else on the table when you have chapli kabab. Chapli Kabab paired with hot tandoori naan and green/mint chutney is a to-die-for combination!
Haleem:
Tumblr media
Unlike most of our traditional dishes, this dish is a very healthy one! It has pulses, rice, meat and thus, is a great source of carbohydrates and protein. It’s in fact the perfect post-workout snack because it is very helpful in rebuilding muscles and tissues! With the high carbohydrates level, it helps in maintaining a high energy level and aids your mind is staying alert and focused. And of course, it tastes amazing! It should be noted that you need to have fried onions, lemon and green masala to enjoy its taste to the fullest!
Tikka:
Tumblr media
BBQ parties are very common in Pakistan, especially on special occasions like Eid. The reason for it is simple; the recipes used to make these BBQs are just amazing. Be it lamb, chicken or meat, every kind of tikka tastes outstanding if cooked in a desi way! You might cook more than you think, but find the plate empty within minutes because...you guessed it! It is delicious! The marination of tikka is the main thing, and every good recipe recommends at least a 5-hour marination (in case of meat)! So, never compromise on it!
You can easily order all these dishes online if you don’t have time to cook them. Just use foodnerd’s app or website and order them online. You’ll find your delivery in front of your door in minimal time!
