I love origami angel so much because many have dared to ask the question “what if pop punk was also Midwest emo” but few have been brave enough to ask “what if that music was also metalcore and power pop and surf rock and what if it was only two dudes and they also wrote songs about Pokémon”

I genuinely believe, no matter what music comes out in my lifetime that my favourite album will forever be "Somewhere City" by Origami Angel
A weird mix between Midwest Emo and a Broadway musical. It tells a story of a city in your brain that you can escape to and take a break from the world. I usually am not the one for extended guitar solos, but the catchy nature of the songs make it so that every song is a joy to listen to.
Standout Songs (for me)
The Title Track- a catchy upbeat song explaining the main concept of the album, the imaginary "Somewhere City" (weirdly in the middle of the album, not near the start)
Find Your Throne- MY personal favourite of the album. Many do not like the repetition in the first half, however the IMMENSE feeling of joy and inspiration you feel if the second half is worth the build up.
The Air Up Here- The Broadway style finale number. Almost every song is masterfully layered together in a sequence building up to a cathartic belt of the album's iconic phrase "The City Never Lets Me Down"
The City Never Lets Me Down.
There's Just Something In The Air Up Here.
The City's Never Far Away, I'm Telling You. The Secret's That It's In Your Brain.
