Heyo, @nidmightcookies! This is my response to your reply on Atticus' post over here -- I didn't want to take away from the message of that post or the additions from other POC.
Sidenote: I'm extremely white and have no credentials that make me qualified to talk about race (I'm just a person who reads and tries to listen), and my takes are probably going to show that. That's another reason I didn't want to clutter up the original post with my reply.
In response to this
“Why is it racist to depict Ed as uncontrollably violent?  Because he's not actually depicted that way in the show.”
you talk about Ed baiting the crew to murder him and committing other violent acts. The original point is stating that Ed is not depicted as uncontrollably violent in the show, not claiming that he perpetrated no violence full stop. Yes, Ed does violence. No, he is not uncontrollably violent.
What Ed does is purposeful, not uncontrollable. He doesn’t push Lucius off the ship after he gives up all hope because he’s a violent guy who just does stuff like that, and the mutiny situation in S2E2… as allthinky said in a response, “that’s Ed at the end of his rope,” not him being uncontrollably violent. He’d been working towards suicide ever since he started baiting Low. As a backup plan, he’s been working the crew hard, disregarding their well-being, and being an overall awful boss in an attempt to incite a mutiny.
Yes, he was “a serious, immediate threat to his crew” by the time he was out of other ideas to make someone take him out. Ed commits acts of violence -- I don’t think I’ve seen anyone claim he doesn’t -- but he always does so with some amount of reason (not necessarily good reasons) and control.
“Upon reflection, my biggest issue may be with the people who argue that Ed's never been shown to be violent, or that any time he has resorted to violence, he's absolved of blame by the fact that someone was mean to him first. Which... I don't think I've seen you make either of those arguments at any point in the past.”
I’m really glad that you mentioned that OP hadn’t made either of those arguments (that you know of), that was genuinely very cool. As for the rest of it, I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone say that Ed is “never shown to be violent” or that he can always be “absolved of the blame” unless you want to remove all of the nuance from common talking points.
He is never shown to be more violent than the average pirate and, due to his deep-seated trauma relating to his own capacity for violence, he’s actually on the less violent end of the pirate spectrum. He can’t be absolved of all blame for his actions because he’s a grown man who makes his own choices (and saying otherwise robs him of his agency). What I’ve seen said is that Ed’s actions are informed by things like trauma, abuse, and racism. His actions make sense. They’re not spontaneous violence committed because Ed flies into rages and homicidal spirals out of the blue.
“Not saying we shouldn't consider it [that is, are we “assigning more weight to Ed's violent actions than those of other characters or assuming he's worse than he actually is”], but I mean. If a white character on the show had cut off his employee's toes and fed them to him, shot him in the leg, ordered his death, held a gun on his other subordinates, marooned some/tossed one overboard, threatened to drown the ones that remained... because he was pushed into it, with the same combination of abusive childhood/hostile work environment... would he be equally deserving of that consideration? Would it be an overreaction to call him dangerous?”
Probably, but if everything was the same except Ed Is White Now, his baggage and his relationship with Izzy wouldn’t be exactly the same. Ed's race isn’t inconsequential. We can't really remove race from the story and end up with the same character, y'know?
Also: I do think it’s inappropriate to turn this question back on POC. I don’t think that POC are obligated to reconsider biases against a white character.
“Izzy is crew”
Ed’s relationship to Izzy is not comparable to his relationship with the crew. The crew have done nothing wrong and haven’t behaved antagonistically towards Ed. Izzy and Ed have a complicated, toxic, and difficult relationship (regardless of where you stand on whether or not Izzy’s abusive), therefore any harm caused to Izzy has to be considered differently than harm caused to the rest of the crew.
“Even if we say that he doesn't count, Ed still pushed Lucius off the ship.”
Yes, Ed did do that, but I think that Atticus is talking about Ed’s S2 actions in that point, not what happened in S1. Most (I think all?) meta I’ve read does consider Ed pushing Lucius off the ship an act of violence that Lucius himself did nothing to provoke.
This might be controversial, but I’d put Ed pushing Lucius overboard on par with, like, a particularly unjust firing in a workplace that isn’t a pirate vessel. When we watch OFMD, we have to adjust our physical violence meters to account for the fact that we’re dealing with an environment that’s full of physical violence.
“Also, emotional abuse directed at the rest of the crew is still abuse”
I don't consider Ed emotionally abusive. He works the crew hard. He’s a terrible boss who doesn’t give his employees vacation days or paid time off and then throws them a sad pizza party. That sucks, it’s not okay, and his final death spiral in S2E2 is terrible and he never should have involved the crew in that.
Abuse is a pattern of behavior that’s meant to control people. Not all harm is abuse. When I say that Ed isn't abusive, I'm not saying that he didn't hurt people.
“So... I was raised by a physically and psychologically abusive parent. I get that Ed's been hurt, is still hurting, and why. The "why" doesn't matter for the question of "did he or didn't he", though. It may or may not be his fault, he may or may not have done it because he felt unsafe. The point is, his actions did hurt people.”
Same, friend, and I'm sorry you went through that. (That’s actually one of the reasons I’ve always been wary of Izzy. What he says and does in S1 is too familiar to me, sometimes to a point where I can’t watch certain scenes.) I don’t think anyone’s saying that Ed isn’t hurting anyone, or that all of his actions can be attributed to abuse. If that’s not what you’re getting at here, apologies for misunderstanding.
“His boss that he was trying to control was brown.  Was that a factor in his power play though, or was it because Taika wound up being cast as Blackbeard? Any other (white) actor in the role, would Izzy be as bad for trying to control him? Would the scripts have gone a different way?”
Here’s the thing. In the show we have, Blackbeard is played by a Maori/Jewish man, and this fundamentally alters the character. There are things in the show -- whole episodes, if you want to look at S1E5 and the fancy party guests who treat Ed like exotic entertainment and not a peer -- that wouldn’t be the same if Ed was white.
And yeah, Ed being brown changes the dynamic between Ed and Izzy. It would still be bad if a white guy was trying to control another white guy, but it wouldn’t be bad on the same level. Same goes if they were both brown. A white man trying to control the behavior of an indigenous man is worse.
“Izzy got permanently disfigured, crippled, and dead, while Ed came out largely unscathed in a physical sense, due to Muppet logic. Not to say one is more deserving than the other, but for a bunch of fans, there's probably a sense of Izzy getting the short end of the stick, to consider.”
That’s fine if some people feel like Izzy got the short end of the stick. It’s fine that some people feel like Izzy’s arc was kinder to him than it should have been. It’s okay to feel whatever! We connect emotionally to different characters and that biases our opinions and meta. That’s not a crime. We just need to be aware of our biases and why they exist.
The thing with OFMD is that Ed is a main character with more background and a story that, at every turn, asks you to sympathize with him. We’re given a look into Ed’s psyche. We understand at least some of his trauma and hurt and why he acts the way he does. Izzy has virtually no backstory and we’re never offered a glimpse into his mind; we don’t know why he’s like that. You can totally like a secondary character (or even an antagonist!) with no real canonical background or mental groundwork. It’s fun to ask why characters do what they do when canon doesn’t offer us any answers, and who doesn’t love a mystery box?
But with OFMD, it can raise eyebrows when people say their main concern is the suffering of a white man who behaves antagonistically towards a brown man, especially when that brown character is a well-developed lead who also suffers (and suffers at the hands of aforementioned white character). It’s not inherently racist for someone to care more about Izzy than Ed, but it’s also not unreasonable to ask that someone to think about the possibility that subconscious racism could be factoring into their point of view.
“I don't think it's fair discussion to have a rule saying ‘even though you didn't directly call out the brown man, your argument is still racist’... even if it's true in many cases, it effectively means that no criticism of the character can ever be considered valid. If someone wants to argue ‘removing your employee's toes and feeding them to him is abusive behavior’, they can't, because of the unspoken skin colors involved? I don't know what the solution to this is.”
No one is saying that all criticism of a character of color is racist or invalid. As allthinky said in response, we’re saying that “those critiques have to be based on real evidence, and placed in a careful context, so that their actions can be understood as human, and not just the brutality of some brute.”
Criticize, but criticize with evidence and with awareness of the context of the criticized behavior.
With the Izzy example, you have to consider the context of their relationship and Izzy’s actions throughout S1. Izzy isn’t just an employee: he’s a trusted second-in-command who has been insulting, controlling, and disloyal; he endangered not just Stede but also Ed and the rest of the crew; he told Ed that he was better off dead than acting as he was, and that Izzy's loyalty belongs to the violent worksona that Ed wants to shed. Is Ed being abusive when he’s reacting in response to abuse from his abuser?
“[T]he show has layers (like an onion). Sometimes the meaning is not entirely surface-level, and everyone has a different level of comprehension. Sometimes obvious things to us aren't obvious to other fans/vice-versa. There's a whole 'nother discussion of media literacy to be had.”
I think that Atticus said it best here: “This is not a subtle show. That's not to say it's a simple one [...]. It's amazingly layered and emotional responses by characters are often extremely complex. However, when the show is trying to tell you something, it's not subtle and it never tries to hide it.”
There are a lot of things in OFMD that are subjective and open to interpretation, and those things are fun to discuss even when we have different takes. There are also a lot of things that are very clear. When people try to subvert the messages and ideas that OFMD is conveying loudly and openly, other fans get suspicious and wonder if the folks doing the subverting have an agenda, a bias, or just misunderstand what the show is saying.
I hope that reply was sufficient!

Remember Us
Note: I changed the request just a little to make it more authentic to the shows storyline and Gibbs’ character.
“Do you have to go right now?” you groaned, rolling over in bed to hide your face in your fiancés chest. Jethro wrapped his arms around you and placed a kiss on your head.
“Things are moving quicker than anticipated. They want me on the ship asap.”
The thought of Jethro in the middle of a possible terrorist plot made your stomach twist, especially when you knew you still needed to tell him that you two were now expecting, but if you didn’t tell him now and something happened, you’d never forgive yourself.
You decided you would tell him once he was fully awake, waiting until he finished his shower and getting dressed.
“Hey Jet,” you started as he brushed his teeth.
“Hm?”
He rinsed his mouth and walked over to you as you sit on the edge of your shared bed, twiddling your thumbs nervously. He noticed and took your hands in his.
“I’m gonna be fine sweetheart. I’ve done plenty of undercover ops. This one is no different,” he reassured, misplacing the reason for your nerves.
“I know, it’s not that, exactly. I- uh- just don’t know how to say-
“What’s the matter hun?”
“I’m pregnant Jethro.”
It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop as his eyes got a little wider as he blinked bewilderedly.
“You’re what?”
“Pregnant. I’m about 3 weeks along. Just got the results from the doctor yesterday.”
He continued not to say anything and you started getting worried. Worried that he wasn’t ready. You two had talked about having a child but never really planned anything.
“Jet. Can you say something? Please.”
He finally took a deep breath and exhaled, letting your hands go so he could run them through his hair.
“Uh- this is definitely unexpected.”
“I know we’ve been careful but I think it happened that night at the Gala. We were both pretty drunk,” you began rambling but Jethro stopped you.
“Hey, I’m not mad. This is great. We’re gonna be a family.”
You smiled, completely relieved at his reaction and jumped up to give him a hug which he chuckled at.
“I’m gonna have to make room in the basement for my new crib project now. Do you like oak or maple better?”
“You choose babe. It’ll be your present to them,” you said leaned back to give him a kiss.
“Oak it is then.”
————
It was late when you raced through the entrance to the Emergency Department. You would’ve been there sooner if you weren’t literally in the middle of a major surgery and didn’t have anyone to cover for you. Luckily, the hospital that Jethro was brought to was
You spotted the sign in desk and made your way over, pulling out your id.
“I’m here to see Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He should be out of surgery by now.”
The nurse gave you a visitor badge and a quick rundown on how to get to his room. You wasted no time and it took everything in you not to just absolutely sprint down the corridors.
Once you reached the room, you walked in and was not expecting to see the Director of NCIS to be sitting at your fiancés bedside, holding his hand.
“Jenny,” you greeted flatly. She released her grasp and stood up before clearing her throat.
“I was just keeping an eye on him until you arrived. He’s in a stable condition but still in a coma. The doctor said-
“I know. He told me too,” you cut her short. You knew all about Jethro and the Director’s relationship, and for the most part it didn’t bother you because you trusted Jethro but Jenny was another story. You knew she still had some feelings for him and seeing her here with him before you irked you.
“Alright. Well I’ll leave you too then,” she stated before collecting her purse and walking out, your eyes following her all the way. Once the door shut behind her, you stood in the same place she had been in and looked down at his sleeping figure. His head was bandaged and burns adorned parts of his face, pulling at your heartstrings. Your hand found his as you leaned in to place a small kiss on his forehead.
“You said this op was no different Jet. You promised me you were going to be ok,” you whispered, trying not to cry.
For the rest of the night, you sat by his bedside, praying he’d wake up or even just squeeze your hand. The doctor assigned to him had a cot sent up so you could also catch some sleep.
The next morning, you were wakened by the door opening. Picking your head up from the edge of the bed, you winced at the sharp pain in your neck and saw Dr. Mallard standing there.
“Goodness dear, have you been here all night?” he asked, looking over at the untouched cot.
“I couldn’t leave him Ducky. I wanted to be here when he woke up.”
He sighed knowingly and pulled a chair up beside you.
“Well I hope you don’t mind if I join you for a little bit?”
You nodded and he took a seat, putting a comforting hand on your arm.
“We’re expecting Ducky.”
You didn’t mind the doctor knowing about the pregnancy. He was one of Jethro’s closest friends and you came to trust him completely as well.
“That’s wonderful Y/N. You two are going to be great parents.”
Looking at Jethro’s chest rise and fall rhythmically, you spoke lightly. “I can’t do it on my own Duck. He needs to wake up. Who’s going to make all the baby furniture and paint the nursery?”
“He’ll wake up Y/N. Just give him some time.”
You wiped the tears from your eyes and took in a shaky breath.
“I hope so Duck. I really hope so.”
————
You were literally gone for less than 5 minutes to grab something to eat when Jethro decided to wake up. You arrived to his doorway just as he got done telling Ducky he didn’t remember him.
“Jethro?” you called softly, everyone turning to look at you. You made your way over to his bedside, fearing the worst.
“Do you remember me Jethro?”
He focused hard on your face before shaking his head no. Not being able to hold back your emotions, you down in sobs and walked out of the room with Ducky following.
“Just give him some more time Y/N. Retrograde amnesia is very common for coma patients that suffered head trauma.”
He pulled you in for a hug and held him tight, hoping he was right.
————
The next couple of days were terrible as Jethro recovered physically but still couldn’t remember who you were or the life you two shared. Somehow he managed to remember Jenny and their time together which only made you feel worse but there was nothing you could do about it. It hurt so badly and had come to the point where you couldn’t take the constant rejection and decided to stay with your mother until he recovered completely.
You received occasional updates from Jethro’s team about his memory state but they never spoke the words you wanted to hear. So the only thing you could do was compartmentalize and keep your mind busy with long hours at the hospital.
The rain and thunder outside reflected your mood as you unenthusiastically put a sandwich together. You had absolutely no appetite but knew you needed to eat for the baby’s health. A knock at the door startled you as you glanced at the microwave that read 2am.
You walked over and saw Jethro standing out on the porch, soaked from the rain. You opened the door quickly, with a smile on your face but it faded when you saw his furrowed brows. He still didn’t remember you.
“I know we have something together Y/N- I get these small flashbacks, small snippets of us together, but never the full memory. The team tells me all about you and how happy you made me. I want that. I want to remember,” he started. “I need your help. Help me to remember.”
You stepped out onto the cold porch barefoot to stand close to him and did the only logical thing you could think of. You took his face in your hands and pulled him in for a deep kiss. If this didn’t work, then you were all out of ideas.
His hands tentatively placed themselves on your waist, slowly deepening the kiss as the butterflies fluttered in your chest. It happened every time you kissed Jethro, even though you’ve known him for years. When you felt his breath hitch, you pulled away and searched his face for an answer.
“Do you remember now Jet?”
Another faltered breath and he nodded his head slowly.
“You’re pregnant,” were his next words, bringing the smile back to your face.
“Yes.”
Ecstatic, you jumped into his arms and he caught you easily.
“Jethro, I missed you so much,” you breathed into his neck, tears falling.
“I know baby. I’m so sorry I took so long. Please forgive me.”
“You don’t have to apologize Jet, it wasn’t your fault.”
He set you back down and tucked a piece of stray hair behind your ear. Your clothes were damp from hugging him and the thin pajamas you had on did nothing to stop the cold stormy wind from sending a chill through you. You hadn’t realized your mother walking up behind you until Jethro turned his attention towards her.
“Look at you two, kissing and talking in the rain like some cheesy rom-com. It’s like one of Y/N’s dreams,” she teased, making you roll your eyes in slight embarrassment.
“It’s good to see you M/N,” he answered with a smile before giving her a tentative hug, careful not to get her wet.
“You too Jethro. Now both of you get home before you catch a cold.”
You ran inside to grab your purse and shoes before hugging your mom and following your fiancé quickly to his truck. Jethro drove through the streets, one hand on the steering wheel and the other on your tummy.

Obvious Disclaimer that this is not about any specific anon in particular, not about OTNF themself, but that my following rant might *slightly* punch down on people who ARE, well, older than net fics are.
But my honest opinion is that I really don’t like it when us old heads tend to sorta…talk down to? “Adultsplain”, if that’s even a thing? To The Gen Zs, by being like “damn kids! back in my day we never used our real name or posted selfies or posted about our personal life at all!” Don’t get me wrong, I’m one of those people who never posted the real me — but not because I was anonymous and cared about online safety, because I was a liar 😂 That being said, there ARE older people who definitely over-shared or “doxxed” themselves and still do, and there’s younger people who don’t!
I also feel like being “ha, these stupid KIDS who post about their FANDOM LIFE on TIK TOCK under their REAL NAME AND FACE where IRLS CAN SEE THEM, how STUPID” is not doing anyone any favors. Is that, technically, a smart thing for kids to do? No. Has it become normalized? Yes. And does that suck for people who might be bullied or outed or whatever cuz they genuinely are dumb and don’t know better and then someone they don’t like sees their stuff? Yes.
We all talk about how there’s no more kids spaces on the internet and how that’s a shame, but then five seconds later we’ll reblog that one “At any time I’m at risk of seeing a 14 year olds opinion and that’s why I hate it here” post. There’s really so few kid spaces on the net now, that’s true. We should extend empathy and let the teens be obnoxious and pretentious in peace, rather than making it a point to “ratio” or “roast them.” Idk personally I’d be completely unbothered if some 14 year old insulted my fic or my ship or whatever. I’d just block and move on, no need to try to argue with them.
And also, not all kids are even pretentious or obnoxious! I’m not saying we all need to take the kids under our wings, but we should be careful about not hating them just for being in their teens years, you know?
Also… telling a teenager to not post PII or not get into discourse or not have social media or whatever will NOT work the way you want it to 😭 kids are by default a little bit oppositionally defiant so telling some rando teen to Get Off Your Lawn (blog) rather than just blocking them, will encourage said teen to Stay On Your Lawn.
I just hate how it’s become normal for adults to talk down to teens online. I was harassed by adults online as a kid, then years and years and years later i went through my own “Older Than You™️”phase where I myself was a shit to teenagers, and I truly regret that so much. To this day I still need to make an effort to be careful. I saw on Twitter where an adult posted a DM from a 13 year old, mocking them. The DM said “I’m 14 next year, can I follow you? Please don’t groom me.” And the adult OP was laughing at how stupid the dm was. A few years ago, I would’ve been one of the people retweeting that and rolling my eyes at the child. Now im disgusted by the people who WERE laughing at them.
And again I’m obviously not saying we should be “nice” to the teenagers who mock us for our ships or who virtue signal too hard. But we also don’t need to make fun of their CARRDS or call them Puri-teens or rag on them just for being 17 or younger, yk?
--
Teens aren't 'puriteens' just for being young, dude. They have to also be puritanical bullies.
I find the stuff about real names hilarious because, actually, if you're really Internet Old™, then you probably did use your real name... it was right there in your university e-mail address! Or your random early ISP address if your stepdad got it for you and thought the university format was the default. Thanks, stepdad.
I've done every single dumb thing from going to meet my internet pen pal at an Alice Cooper concert to flying to Ireland from Japan to stay with a fandom friend I'd never met without telling anyone where I was going and without a credit card or enough cash to flee if I had to. I remember sitting on the plane thinking "Man, this is such a CSI episode topic".
The really funny part was that despite what she'd said before I visited, we ran into each of her parents at different times and ended up going to a play courtesy of her uncle, and all of them were like "So how do you know each other?" and "But you'd met before, right? RIGHT?!"
The level of panopticon is horrifying now. Teens have my sympathy. That part really is worse, and I think it's driving an entire generation nuts and we're going to see even more shit about people wanting to run away and live in a cabin in the woods with no internet. But in general, I don't think we're so different.

Entanglement (2/2)
PAIRING: Johnny "Soap" MacTavish x Medic F!Reader
WARNINGS: allusions to smut || MDNI
A/N: I promised a sober part 2 for the 141 challenge by @glitterypirateduck || but it's very late because I am physically unable to get my shit together || but I made it softer and sweeter than the first part to make up for it :')
Prompts used: Secluded beach, pursuit (used literally as in one person chasing another), “I need a ride”, “Here, I’ll show you”
Part 1 || Part 2 ||
____
He ships out for a tour that keeps extending for some stupid reason or another and you don’t see him for three months.
You tell yourself that your position as one of the medical personnel on base means that you must be present at the landing pad when the 141 arrive, you must check that they’re all okay and that no one’s injured and that you must search desperately, panic clear on your face, neck craning this way and that until you see him.  Until Johnny’s face comes into view, laughing at something, because of course he is, and then you can start to convince yourself that your finally being able to breathe normally is attributable to none of the boys being injured.
Except…except when Johnny sees you, his brows shoot up to his hairline, and the smile on his face is beautiful, with just the slightest amount of smug.  Such a horrible, annoying, perfect man.
He jogs to cover the last few feet between you, and stands in front of you, eyes just drinking you in—smiling, but pointedly not saying a word.
“I just wanted to make sure you weren’t hurt.  Or anyone else,” you inform him quickly, eyes widening at your slip-up.  “It’s um…it’s why I’m here.”
“‘Course, luv.  No other reason, aye?”  His eyes sparkle in the afternoon sun, and glove-covered fingers lightly brush your cheek.  I can’t believe you’re here, his eyes tell you.
“Of course not!  Just wanted to make sure that no one needed emergency care,” you whisper, leaning into his touch.  Where else would I be?
“Thought about tha’ date yet, lass?” he says, and his attention is briefly drawn to Price rallying everyone to his office for the post-op debrief.
“Johnny,” you whisper, and his head whips around to look at you.  “I…I—”  You close your mouth quickly, too embarrassed to say anything when he stands there in front of you, looking like…well.  That.
His brows are furrowed and concern floods the bright blue of his eyes.  “Wha’ is it?  I was only takin’ the piss, luv, dinna fash, it’s alrate if ye—,”
“I have the next three weeks off.  I’m going to Scotland.  Edinburgh.”
“Edinburgh,” he repeats, his eyes wide and shocked.  And then his expression changes.  It’s subtle at first, but the smile that breaks over his face makes you feel like you’re looking straight at a sunrise, and you almost want to squint at its brilliance.  “Coincidence, lass.  I’m on leave m’self.  Might find myself in Edinburgh too, y’know?”
***
Johnny does finds himself in Edinburgh.
And he finds himself equal parts impressed and happy and captivated when he learns of the hoops you had to jump through to arrange annual leave at the same time as him.  “So ye lied, eh?”
“I—no!  I didn’t lie!  I just withheld information, that’s all.”  You pause and turn to him, gingerly reaching out to hold one of his hands in both of yours and looking down at your intertwined fingers.  “I really wanted to be here with you.”
Lazulite.
When you look up into his eyes, you’re met with pure, warm, melted lazulite.  His eyes hold you captive and you find that you want to drown in them, a prisoner by choice.
When he doesn’t look away and you feel warmed by his gaze, you turn to look at the horizon, taking a couple of steps away from him and towards the water.
It’s cold, so very unbearably cold, the freezing water and the frigid breeze it incites doing their jobs of keeping people out of the outdoors.  You’re alone with him on the beach, the tiny shops in the beach-town in the distance calling your names with the promise of warm food and an ale for your troubles.  But, the time for that will come…just, not yet.
You turn back to Johnny and find that he’s moved closer to you, standing at the edge of the water with you.  “Ah’m glad ye changed yer mind,” he says.  “Ah’ve been…looking forward to this.”
“Oh yeah?” you challenge, grinning.  “What specifically have you been looking forward to?”
He shrugs nonchalantly.  “Pussy from the 141’s medic, obviously.”
Your gasp is dramatic and your eyes bulge at his words, too shocked to respond with anything but a bewildered  “What?  What?!”
But when Johnny doesn’t respond to you, doubled over in laughter, wheezing at your expression, you know exactly how to get him back.  You’ve barely even considered the consequences in your mind before you bend down and use both hands to splash him with the Arctic-temperature water, and he splutters, looking back up at you in shock.
You’re both frozen for a moment, before his expression narrows—“Oh, yer’ in a world of trouble now, lass,” he growls—and you make a run for it.
The only sounds on the beach are the gentle sounds of the water on the shore, your shrieking laughter on the beach and Johnny’s occasional taunts as he chases after you.  You know he only lets you run away from him because it’s fun—the chase, the sound of your laughter, the adrenaline warming you both despite the cold winter air.    The man was a beast in the gym and on the track, could’ve caught you in a second if he wanted to, but this is fun.
Everything about being with him is fun.
When he finally catches you, his large arms go around you and he lifts you, chuckling in your ear while he spins you around.  Your heart is full at that moment, so completely overflowing with your infatuation for him, so completely joyous at his cheesy actions that make you feel like you’re in one of your guilty-pleasure movies.  Being on a date with him is exactly like what you’d imagined—he’s effortlessly charming, naturally funny, attentive to you, and most importantly, he’s enjoying himself too.
You can’t believe you’d been saying no to this for months, denying yourself the pleasure of being with him for months.   The thought boggles your mind a bit and you forget all your reasons for doing it in the first place.
So overwhelmed are you by your inner turmoil that when he finally sets you down, you turn around to face him, promptly put your palms on his cheek and kiss him full on the mouth.  He’s shocked, frozen for a second but seems to snap out of it, and kisses you back.  One arm goes around your waist to pull him flush to you, the other winds around you to rest on the nape of your neck.  There’s no escape from the intensity of his kiss, even if you wanted it.
And you don’t want to leave his embrace anytime soon.
His body shields you from the bitter cold, pulling you into his warmth until you’re left feeling like your bodies have been fused together.  Johnny is just as playful while he’s kissing you as he is at any other time.  He’s all enthusiasm and exploration, sharp little nips on your bottom lip, soothed by gentle licks.  When you hungrily open your mouth for him, you’re rewarded by the taste of what you will come to learn is just Johnny.
He grips you even tighter, not even enough space for air to pass in between you, gets carried away by the way you sigh and moan into his mouth, and when he grinds into you, you freeze because you can feel him.  Hard, against your thigh.
Johnny whines when you stop kissing him back, your lips motionless against his, but releases you in a second when he realises that you’ve frozen against him.  “Bonnie, y’okay?”
“Erm, yeah, I—” you cut yourself off, because your cheeks are starting to warm and you don’t know where to look right now.  Definitely not at him, but you also cannot look down because what if your eyes wander to his crotch, and you cannot and must not be caught looking at his crotch and—
“Hey…y’alright?  What’s wrong, luv?”
Hm, how do you diplomatically and politely tell him that grinding against his hard cock had jarred you for a second and made you flood your panties with your arousal the next?  “N-no nothing’s wrong, I uh.  I was wondering…” you say softly, looking up at him from underneath your lashes.   “Do you want to go back to the hotel?  If it’s alright, I need a ride.”
His pupils contract to pinpricks. “Ah’ll give you a ride, bonnie.”
***
Of all the things you thought would happen between the two of you in your hotel room after the first time you fucked, this wasn’t it.
“Ye wanted to know what I was looking forward to?  Here, I’ll show you.”
He proceeds to demand that you stay in bed while he sneaks into the bathroom and shuts the door quietly behind him.  Ten minutes later, the man emerges, victorious, with pink cheeks and looking mighty proud of himself.  He leads you by the hand into the bathroom, and helps you take off the fluffy, indulgent bathrobe he’d put on you.
The bath’s running, steam swirls around the room, warming it pleasantly, and Johnny’s managed to find a candle, somehow.
“Get in, lass, come on.”
“Only if you come in with me,” you say, smiling.
If you were any kind of artist, you know your masterpiece would be your recreation of Johnny’s face in that moment—blushing, eyes downcast shyly, the perfect contradiction to the man who’d brought you to ruin only a few minutes ago.
You both take turns sinking into the warmth of the water, and when you’re finally settled, your back to his chest, your head leaning on his shoulder, you sigh deeply.  He brings your hand up to his mouth and gives your knuckles a kiss.  In quiet, hushed words you both decide on a strategy for keeping this thing you’ve just discovered private, just for the two of you at the moment.
“And so when you say we’re not telling anyone, that also means you’re not going to tell Gaz?” you ask, sceptically.
“Naw, bonnie, we agreed.  I didnae ken what ye mean.”
“...yeah, okay, Johnny.  How about…three dates?  Three successful dates, and then you can tell your boyfriend about me.”
You hear him sputter behind you and it makes you chuckle.  “We’re gonna ‘ave more than three dates in the next few weeks, bonnie.”
“Oh?”  You turn around slowly, mindful of the water splashing out the sides of the bathtub and shift so you’re straddling him.  His eyes widen slightly at the sight of your wet body against his, and his hands grip the flesh on your hips immediately.  “Is that so?  What makes you so confident you’re going to get a second date?”
“I’m no’ a betting man,” he says, conspiratorially.  “But if ah were…the way you sucked my cock, bonnie?”  He leans back with a contented sigh and a look of overconfidence on his face.  “I’d say ah’m gonna get a second date.”
“Hmm,” you say noncommittally, and he leans forward to kiss you.
“And a third,” he says, smiling against your mouth.  “And a fourth.”
“Maybe you’re right,” you concede.  “You’ll have to work hard for a fifth, though, Johnny.”
And when Johnny’s fingers touch you between your thighs at the words, his expression even and not betraying his intentions whatsoever, you’re convinced he’s going to work hard and get that fifth date.

( 🤎 ) ... UNDERSTANDING THE DYNAMICS IN NCT DREAM ( RENCE VERSION ) !
💬nias notes: jeno’s is next …
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( 🤎 ) SHIP NAME: RENCE
romantic level: 85%
( 🎶 ) … their song: teddy bear ( nct dream )
TOP THREE RENCE PHOTOS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— rence analysis: renjun cares for cece a lot, anyone could see it, he’s very soft and caring around here, he even tends to baby talk to her ( even though he denies it every single time ). cece energetic personality, that contrasts his completely, but with him she seems more level headed and calm.
out of all the relationship in dream — romantic or not, renjun and cece mesh well the most, they bring out different sides of each other that no one else can…
(🤍) … top three rence moments that alter reality :
THE 2021 RENCE KISS !
It was during the 00liner live — she wasn’t even in the live, she accidentally walked in looking for her charger that she previously left. renjun got up to help her and to the camera you couldn’t see anything, but the guys did because they kept look past the camera.
I guess they thought it wouldn’t be easy to hear it, but don’t shit get past czennies, and haechan couldn’t hide his jealous face either, but anyway , you could hear them talking quickly, then a low kiss sound — fans took this and ran, and it didn’t help renjun came back into frame with a red face. she quickly tried to clear it up on bbl, saying it wasn’t a kiss, and to not think anything of it, but fans know what they heard…
RENJUN BEING JEALOUS OUT IN THE OPEN !
during the filming of beautiful, when they were dancing with the dancers behind the scenes , in the back of one of the interviews, you could see cece talking to a group of dancers, you could also see renjun watching her with a stoic face.
all it took was for the male dancer to smile at her, and he walked over to the group, you could tell he wanted to drag her away but he didn’t, he waited for the dancer to get the hint, and excuse himself. she then turned to him, and he smiled, no one paid attention to what johnny was saying, because they were too focused on cece slapping his shoulder in the back.
A FAN SEEING RENCE OUT IN ATLANTA WITH HER MOM !
a fan who lived in atlanta , saw them together in her hometown when they were there for a tour stop at a local target. the fan was shopping there randomly when she walked in with him and her mom.
she didn’t want to approach them and disturb them, but she did say that that the few times they past by her they were linking hands. fans didn’t really care about that since she does that to everyone, but what they found cute was that fan said renjun seemed close with her mom, and he was carrying cece’s purse — she thinks she also heard renjun call her jagi, but it’s confirmed because op wasn’t close enough.

Also for my love of trans guys, can you do trans Johnlaoshi ? If you don't know how to write ot3 just trans Kung Lao with anyone.
I can absolutely do those three and in fact it would b a pleAsure to.
Send me some Mortal Kombat characters or ships for some NSFW headcanons!
(Btw general hcs im operating off of for myself r none of them have bottom op, Kenshi n Johnny have had top, n Kung Lao is no op occasional binding depending on what he’s up for. Words used here include cock, dick, folds, entrance, and chest)
———
In the early days when they’re all at the academy, the dynamic is focused around Kung Lao and Johnny having fun
They fool around with each other, because it’s easy and good and they get the other’s brashness, and then they stumble into Kenshi being in the equation. Maybe through him walking in on them, maybe through a bet or an argument or a charged promise of revenge that leads into hurried touching and curled toes. Either way, it happens
From there it becomes a game, a push and pull of energy between the three of them
Kenshi is in it for the stress relief. It’s good sex, and an outlet to mess around with his friends who he regrettably enjoys fucking (even if they still annoy the shit out of him)
Johnny and Kung Lao are in it for the bit, to see who can goad Kenshi into things, who can get him to bite back first and show his fun side. It’s a challenge to make things more interesting
Plus, it is hot
“Look at that, Johnny.” Kung Lao bites his lip with a smirk as he watches Kenshi enter the room, his eyes running over the two of them as he takes his coat off, the evening already well under way. “We’ve got a visitor.”
They’re in Kenshi and Johnny’s quarters, kneeling upright on the bed as they rub against each, their cocks shiny and flushed as they bulge up from their folds
Kenshi watches quietly as he gets undressed and goes casually through the movements of getting ready himself, his eyes heated as he works on the harness of his strap
“We’re comparing sizes up close, Kendoll,” Johnny says breathlessly.
Kung Lao grinds his hips forward, making Johnny grunt, and smirks at Kenshi again. “Want to referee on who’s bigger?” he asks.
Kenshi makes a low sound, stalking over and tugging Kung Lao off Johnny. He presses him down, and Kung Lao kind of laughs, smirking. “Oh no, it seems I’ve been captured by a swordsman,” he says, and then, dropping his voice all mockingly sweet, “How deep will you impale me, sir?”
Kenshi sinks to his elbows and growls in Kung Lao’s ear, “Until you make a good sheath.”
Kung Lao’s breath hitches. “Shit, Kenshi…”
Kenshi starts to work him open, and Johnny can’t take his eyes off them
Kenshi sinks his fingers in, firm and deep, and Kung Lao makes such nice sounds and—
Johnny watches intently, touching himself while they get into it
Depending on the type of night, it can go several ways from there
On days they’re on good terms, Johnny will eventually migrate to press against Kenshi’s back, feeling him over as he rocks into Kung Lao. He’ll croon over the two of them, telling them how good they look, how nice they sound
On other nights, Johnny gets punishment. If he’s dragged his feet or been too much of an ass, Kenshi won’t let him in. He just has to stay worked up, curling into himself while he’s forced to watch from a distance
The three of them don’t really have defined roles, though. They’re always experimenting and exploring with each other
Sex becomes almost like another competition, something to one up each other on just like in training
Johnny and Kung Lao find (to their delight) that Kenshi is actually up for very stupid and risky things, if they lead him into it enough
Blowjobs behind the washrooms? (Are you chicken, Takahashi?)
Groping under the table at meals? (I’ll give you Sento if you don’t make a sound)
They feed off each other’s energy and antics, sweaty arms slung over shoulders after a hard training session blending into nails scraping down thighs and over leather as Kenshi keeps Johnny in place, Kung Lao buried deep in his throat
There are still genuine tender moments here and there though, especially in the time between Raiden becoming champion and the actual tournament, when Raiden is way more removed as he trains harder and they’re all feeling some of the sting from losing
I think some of Kung Lao’s insecurities seep out a bit here, being second suddenly, and the physical relationship helps a lot
He’s always been gung ho in his masculinity, in himself, but after losing to Raiden and hearing comments that disdain his garishness… some worries sneak in that morph and rot into doubts about himself
He finds days that his confidence stutters, that he worries about how he’s perceived in his manhood. Johnny and Kenshi notice how bothered he is by all of it, and help to reaffirm him a lot in different ways
Sometimes that’s by letting him feel in control and on top by domming them both, his hips snapping into Johnny as Kenshi watches from the sidelines, restrained and still dressed with a sweaty brow, and others it is something subtle in the passive moments of pleasure they swap on rest days
“God, Kenshi, you seein’ this thing?”
Kenshi glances down from where he’s reading at Kung Lao’s side, both of them reclined casually while Johnny lays between Kung Lao’s legs, and whistles
“Nice cock,” he says. “Very handsome.”
Johnny grins in response, and Kung Lao lets out a soft breath as he starts stroking him again. “Great cock,” he emphasizes
Kenshi rolls his eyes, putting his book down and turning onto his side, one hand settling idly on Kung Lao’s stomach where his shirt’s been rucked up. “He’s got ‘Great’ everything, Cage. Told us he takes after his ancestor, didn’t he?”
“Mmm.” Johnny leans down to mouth at Kung Lao’s entrance, running his tongue up and over his dick. “That he did,” he says, kissing the tip. His hands twitch slightly on Kung Lao’s thighs, and Johnny groans, distracted for a moment. “Damn… Takes after a damn tree, too. God these legs…”
Kenshi huffs as Johnny settles down to take Kung Lao in his mouth again, his own hand wandering up to push Kung Lao’s shirt out of the way and begin gently kneading at his chest, squeezing the flesh and rolling it beneath his palm. The mix of sensations makes Kung Lao’s eyes flutter closed.
“You guys suck,” he mumbles.
Kenshi noses against his jaw, moving some of his loose hair out of the way to kiss the skin. His fingers tug pointedly at Kung Lao’s nipple. “That’s Johnny’s job,” he mutters.
That tender piece of their dynamic, that feels different from the friendship and the sex, only grows during their time in Outworld
By the time they’re post Kenshi blinding, there’s a lot more slowness and touch to everything they do, they’re not as rushed and are all more familiar. Whatever relationship this is is… solid.
Johnny gets even more touchy than he already was. Nearly losing Kenshi and learning… concerning things about different fates in previous timelines from slips and interactions in the chaos between realms has made him… clingy. He doesn’t want to lose this, either of them, and feeling both of them under him, around him, inside him, is one of the best ways to feel full and secure that they’re… ok
They feel up each others bodies, the old scars and the new, grounding each other as they grind on each other
Johnny tells Kenshi how he’s got him, how he’s always got his back as he fingers him open while Kenshi’s in his lap, his movements slow, and Kenshi lets himself relax for once, feeling safe even without Sento assisting as Kung Lao kisses all over his chest and stomach
Calloused fingers scarred with small cuts from hat practice run over Kenshi’s top scars and the tattoos that cover and decorate them, and the areas on his ribs that unsafe binding used to bite into the skin
Kung Lao leans up to suck into his neck, carding fingers through his hair only to reach past and tug Johnny a bit closer by his nape, both of them sandwiching Kenshi between them
He can hear their dual smirks as they mutter to each other, about how lovely he looks, about how good he feels. There’s a soft sound as they kiss, a little hum, before Johnny’s chin hooks over Kenshi’s shoulder, his cologne strong
“We’ve been talking, babe, and uh…” He laughs slightly, almost sounding worried, and kisses Kenshi’s neck, crooking his fingers suddenly. Kenshi makes a sharp sound, hands scrabbling up to grip Kung Lao’s arms. “I know you’re up for bein’ in my movies, but uh… would you ever wanna make a private flick?”
Kenshi groans, rocking down into Johnny’s touch hard
“Told you he’d hate it,” Kung Lao prods.
Johnny sputters. “I don’t know if that was hating it, maybe a little disapproving but—”
Kenshi makes a grunt in protest, grip immediately tightening. God they’re both idiots. His idiots, though… maybe he’s not that far behind them with what he’s imagining right now
He tilts his face up with a gasp as Johnny’s palm grinds against his cock, his mouth finding the edge of Kung Lao’s jaw. “I really—” He swallows thickly. “I really don’t hate it,” he breathes.
Kung Lao makes a sound of surprise, but it’s muffled as Kenshi kisses him, swallowing the next grunt of appreciation as Kung Lao melts forward
Johnny laughs from behind him, pushing them both down until Kenshi is laying on Kung Lao’s chest, Johnny still knuckle deep inside him
“That’s great to hear, Kendoll, ‘cause honestly?” His hand runs past Kenshi’s thigh to skirt over Kung Lao’s. “I’ve been wanting to capture this view for a while.”

I love how you’re like like oh I love all of the asoiaf girlies Arya, Sansa Dany but you only ever talk about Sansa and jonsa. Like why are you lying.
Hey anon :)
I’ve actually mentioned in that post that I talk about Jonsa and Sansa a lot more because those are the blogs that I primarily follow (and thus, they come up on my feed a lot more). Sansa is my favourite character, I think that’s pretty clear. But the reason I don’t post about Dany and Arya a whole lot (though I have reblogged about them, which I’m sure you’ve noticed as you seem to have obsessively scrolled) is because I have lots of arya and dany blogs blocked since unfortunately they tend to have sansa/Jonsa hate and I don’t really want to see that. I also mentioned in that post for anyone to recommend me some blogs that don’t foster sansa or jonsa hate, but no one responded with any so I just left it at that.
In any case, you don’t know me so I don’t know why this page bothers you. - I DO love all asoiaf girls - but I prefer to not interact with certain stans since negativity is something I’d very much prefer not to encounter :p I have an asoiaf TikTok where I post equally about characters, so there’s that. In that original pinned post, I had a j*nrya shipper come into my notes and essentially act very condescending towards me for shipping Jonsa. It left quite a bad taste in my mouth and was vitriolic for no reason, (and they actually blocked me when I provided reasoning + evidence which is …funny to say the least). I come onto tumblr to read metas , view beautiful fanart and edits, and converse with my *wonderful* mutuals. I do not come on here to argue, to hate, to bully, to provoke discourse - it’s just not in my nature and I’ll only speak on something if it’s presented to me unabashed or in my actual mentions. Otherwise I don’t venture into anti-tags and even just avoid pro - arya or pro - dany tags since I’ve seen lots of hatred to sansa and Jonsa on there and frankly ? I’m not interested. I’d love to follow some blogs that appreciate or are at the very least respectful about all these characters so if you can point some out to me lovely anon, that would be great :) It’s been a while since I’ve read a good arya or dany meta.
Now, in terms of characters - I believe I’m one of those rare asoiaf fans who are appreciative of all female characters for what they are. I’ve mentioned sansa, dany and arya are my favs - and this is due to complexity, nuance and the unique beauty and meaning to their stories. I enjoy them in different ways, and I appreciate them for different reasons.
To address the crux of your statement, which is relatively hateful, bitter, and condescending - I’m really not sure why you’re here? You seem the only person who has a problem with my page. There are numerous blogs dedicated to arya and/or dany. If you could read properly, my op post states that they are among my favourite characters *but I post primarily about Jonsa and Sansa for the reasons I stated above.*
I urge you to turn your biased glasses off and go back to your side of the fandom , where I’m sure you’ve come from just to …what? Hate? Call me a liar? (And I’m gaging its because I ship Jonsa and love Sansa…as is the pattern with these types of asks) in any case I have 40 followers on this blog, it’s a place for me to come share my thoughts on my most favourite book series of all time. I’m sick of people making assumptions about me when they don’t even know me.
Anyway anon, have a good day/night and perhaps follow blogs that you like and agree with!

Hey OP, has this blog and all the asks and stuff you get influenced any of your perspectives on shipping discourse and general media stuff?
Oh, for sure.
I don’t think my opinions on “problematic” media or whatever itself have changed at all, but my opinions on these communities definitely have. Of course, I can’t talk about every single proshipper/anti and I’m generalizing here and this is entirely just from my experience. If it doesn’t fit you, it doesn't fit you.
I don’t really know how to articulate this very well so I’m sorry if this makes no fucking sense.
The communities everyone has built feel so backwards. Going into this, I assumed the community built around problematic media would be centered around said problematic media, but instead, it’s centered around defending it while also never engaging with it at all. It feels so bizarre to me that you’ve created a community around “live and let live, just enjoy the fiction you want to, it doesn’t matter at all actually” and yet 99% of all posts I see from proship blogs is about being proship and not them actually just enjoying their little fictional guys. In my experience, there seems to be more “fictional incest is okay because it’s fiction” posts than “here’s a drawing of some fictional incest, which is okay because it’s just fiction” posts, if that makes sense.
I don’t know, it just feels bad, man. Running this blog has made me significantly less happy, and I don’t really know why anyone would subject themselves to such a soul-crushing community long-term when they don’t even care all that much. I don’t know why someone would run a proship (or anti) blog where you only post about being morally better than the other “side” about your fiction, while also… Never posting or reblogging anything about the fiction you like. It just feels like nobody is happy or posting about the things that make them happy, ever.
I have the opposite problem with antis and proshippers. Antis have some fucked up opinions and I think they’re awful, but at least they don’t post about other shit. It’s possible to enjoy the things an anti has made without being an anti because they don’t exclusively post about being an anti. The #anti and #antiship tags are overrun with crossposts because nobody fuckin uses those hashtags. Antis don’t post under ship discourse tags or search through ship discourse tags or follow blogs exclusively about ship discourse like proshippers do.
I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but from my experience running this blog, it is exhausting constantly surrounding yourself with a community entirely built off of outrage. Of course harassment and bullying are bad and of course we should be anti-harassment. But I feel like that should be the baseline for the community and not everything the community thinks and does.
The term “ignorance is bliss” comes to mind. You don’t have to post about “wow antis sure do suck haha” all the time when you could post about your fictional blorbos instead. Post your blorbos dammit, even if they’re siblings or what the fuck ever, it’ll make you happier than posting about discourse.
Enjoy whatever fiction you want, but at least post about things you enjoy. You can quit posting about discourse if it makes you feel worse, I promise it doesn’t make you an anti I swear.

I believe I am not speaking only for myself when I say this, but it gets annoying when people from Twitter take screenshots of the OnS posts here and bring the conversations to Twitter where they know they will get more visibility and shared opinions since most of the fandom is over there.
We are like, the same 20 people over here. We don’t bite. We may have different opinions but we are not irrational and unable to hold a civilised conversation. If you see a post you don’t like, you could try to chat with the one who posted it before jumping to conclusions and add fuel to the fire with your Twitter mutuals. You could at the very least be upfront about it instead of doing it behind our backs. Otherwise, we won’t know unless we happen to run into it on Twitter, which btw happens to me a lot because I follow people who in turn follow the kind of people who make these posts, so I get it recommended on my timeline.
Yes, I could just hit the ‘block’ button, but it doesn’t sit well with me to know we are just 20 people and the people over Twitter may be talking about the posts me or my friends made without knowing about it. What kind of defence we could have, being 20 people? On the other hand, there are lots of people who share the same opinions as you on Twitter. It won’t hurt you to hit the ‘block’ button here because at the end of the day, what we really say here won’t have a big effect on you. But what you and your numbers say about us will affect us. Especially if you already did this more than once, doesn’t it mean you are going into Tumblr and actively looking for posts which to rant about in your platform because you know you will find those kind of posts here?
I don’t want to be told by anyone to stop reading the manga I’ve invested 8 years of my life, basically my entire adolescence, just because I lost interest on Mika, Yuu and MikaYuu. Note that it’s “I lost interest on”, not “I am not interested on”. I am not a hater, what I say comes from a place of disappointment, and the disappointment comes from a place of love that used to be here. I loved Mika and Yuu. I even wrote fanfics of them in Wattpad back during my middle school years like the crazy teen super obsessed with these two boys I was, and I haven’t even taken them down because of the nostalgia despite my embarassing writing skills. I am actually jealous of others who despite the direction the story took, they still ship mikayuu hard as the first day, because they are able to enjoy what they get far more than me. But does it mean I am not enjoying the story at all? Of course that’s not the case. I love it a lot. It’s actually the only series where I actively involved myself this much. I may not have the same interest for the mcs’ love story and their antics, but I want to see the rest of the elements of the story and how it ends. “stop reading it” stop using that sentence when you barely know the person you are telling that to, whether it is someone who has been with OnS for 8 years or 1 year. It’s just harmful.
If you check old posts of the people here, you will see more than what meets the eye. If a post here had a sarcastic tone or something, it is probably not serious and you might actually have a nice, sensible chat with the OP. If you don’t get why we don’t like mikayuu, just ask. If you don’t get how we can still read this manga despite not liking mikayuu, just ignore us. I don’t want to start a fight. Just ignore us, please. I don’t want me or anyone in this small Tumblr OnS fandom be criticised every single time one of us displays discontent about an aspect of the story.
And just in case, I am not talking about the mikayuu fandom in general. Just some people.

to sansa stans, take this post as an opinion from the other side, not as character hate or hate towards the OP. also, i didn’t post the name of the OP because i don’t want them to get any backlash in case a lot of people end up seeing this. (long post in coming…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wrong. OP’s opinion of the other side is incorrect and a bit offensive at that. i used to like sansa, now i am indifferent to her because of sansa stans.
to continue on, yes… sansa does develop internally… just like all the other characters ???? (doesn’t everyone develop internally…?) the difference between sansa and other characters is that she is a pawn—meaning she is led around by the big players—develops slowly, and through her POV, grrm tries to give us insight into what these big players—littlefinger and the tyrells—are doing without spoiling anything. this is why sansa has such slow development. grrm couldn’t have her grow because if she started trying to play the game, she would’ve gotten herself killed because she would be a novice or some of the big players political machinations would’ve had to have been revealed by grrm to keep up with sansa’s development. the tyrells and littlefinger need to stay mysterious for the plot.
if anything, sansa’s slow character growth is a testament to how amazing an author grrm is. he also does an amazing job writing quick character growth.
furthermore, the character who actually bores people is bran due to his long and tedious chapters—but people like bran, do they not? is it because he’s a boy and not a girl? is the like for bran, who i’ve established as a male character who bores people, then rooted in misogynistic double standards based on your analysis? i don’t think so. if anything, there are those who are indifferent to him, those who find him sweet but on a dangerous path, or those who come up with headcanons where he’s going to take over hodor and rape meera. there are shitty theories out there for every character because people all have different perspectives on the books. but from what i’ve seen, the dislike of sansa is not rooted in hatred or contempt for her character just because she was annoying once or because people find her boring. now, if i want to get radical, the horrible headcanon where bran uses hodor to rape meera is rooted in ableism. why? because why does bran need to use an able body to rape meera? (this sounds so wrong). why couldn’t meera like bran for bran? why couldn’t they have consensual sex? (WHEN THEY ARE OLDER). is it because the person who came up with this theory is ableist and can’t imagine anyone falling for someone who can’t walk? so then the only way bran and meera could have a sexual relationship is where bran (who’s very innocent) commits a horrible wrong against the girl he has a sweet crush on? let that sink in. horrible theories rooted in discrimination are everywhere.
additionally, a character who really does inspire violent hatred is dany. now, because i’m not trying to make blanket statements, i come with a specific example. the whole dany is going to burn down kings landing thing is rooted in misogyny and contempt for her character—and it also makes no sense whatsoever when you have both cersei and jon con in westeros on a crash course. cersei has sooooo many aerys parallels and jon con is going into that tywin lannister mindset—aka he thinks he should’ve burnt the town to the ground to find robert baratheon. it’s gonna be the sack of kings landing 2.0, but it’s going to be even more devastating this time. when you look at things this way—why are people so sure that dany will be the one to do it? it’s actual misogyny. dany is a woman in power—a young girl at that—who’s much more powerful then the men in the asoiaf universe. she’s taking on a corrupt system, she openly had a lover, and is a she-king. you know what, i bet if dany was a guy then people would absolutely adore her and ship sansa with her. double standards galore right here.
moreover, saying things like, “misogynistic double standards or indifference with which she [sansa] is discussed,” is a blanket statement if i’ve ever heard one. it’s also one that is not true. there are many reasons as to why people criticize sansa without being misogynistic in their posts/discussions—people like the OP are just taking criticisms of sansa out to be something they’re usually not (i’m sure there are misogynistic antis, but saying they represent a whole group is just bs). and dude, it’s perfectly acceptable for people to be indifferent to characters. in the first paragraph OP went off and said that it’s okay for characters [sansa] “not being someone’s cup of tea,” which is something that i agree with, but then OP did a 180 and put indifference and misogynistic in the same sentence, equating them on the same level, like ???? chose an opinion, stop being wishy-washy.
continuing on with my obnoxious nitpicking lol, “people try to justify disliking her at the same level as the true villains of the series or other morally ambiguous leads.” one, she’s not a lead, two, do you know what morally ambiguous actually means in the context of calling some of the actual leads this? the leads may make some morally ambiguous decisions, but this does not make their actual characters morally ambiguous. three, i do not understand why people dislike sansa more than the actual villains, but it may be because her stans are out of control and have some of the worst headcanons i’ve ever seen—an example being queen in the north sansa, something that is not supported by the text (Lady is her direwolf, not Nymeria, and she’s not a she-king like dany). four, sansa is classist and she does have internalized misogyny. she has many prejudices that will likely be worked on in the next book as she’s forced to grow (the winds of winter are blowing, every character will be getting darker in the next book). five, she is a liar at times, but so is every character, and the OP seems to be trying to equate “liar” with “classist” and “internalized misogynist” by putting these three in the same sentence. they’re not the same at all.
and the problem with the final sentence of OP’s response is that sansa has not grown significantly. she just hasn’t. i stated earlier in this post that this is because grrm needed her to stay stagnated, and i stick by my opinion, but this doesn’t change the fact that she’s still thinking classist/misogynistic thoughts about mya stone and other characters.
opposite of this stagnation is significant growth. i also stand by my statement that grrm is good at writing this as well. significant growth is when jon snow realizes that he was being a bully to the other recruits and firstly stops his behavior, and then secondly tries to befriend them and thirdly helps them out with their training. the only trait you listed (classist, liar, internalized misogynist) that can still be applied to jon is that he’s a liar. however, like i stated before, everyone lies in asoiaf. and lying is necessary. but equating lying with classist and internalized misogynist makes it seem like lying is outright bad and that anti-sansa asoiaf fans are criticizing sansa for something as necessary as lying. jon snow quickly got over his classism and realized his mistakes, which is quick character growth. (there are some times that he makes snide remarks or has bad thoughts towards women… but internalized misogyny does not apply to him because… well… he’s not a woman *shrugs.* i also wouldn’t agree with saying he’s a misogynist. he does have prejudice towards women who sit in towers and wait to be saved, but this is likely due to catelyn’s ice eyed glare and septa mordane. also, he never brings these prejudices out in the open, meaning he doesn’t discriminate against these women).
i bet a counter argument some people would try to make is that sansa doesn’t know better and has been raised this way or that and that this is the reason she exhibits these behaviors, just like jon, she can’t help how she was raised and needs someone to explain to her why her prejudices are wrong; this is a very bad argument because it ignores the fact that none of sansa’s other siblings have classist beliefs and arya doesn’t have internalized misogyny. bran and robb do not exhibit any prejudice towards women either, likely because they didn’t have catelyn giving them ice eyes everyday. now, on the thought of sansa’s other siblings, saying that arya was exhibiting “classist” behaviors or “internalized misogynistic” behaviors in the beginning is so wrong that i wanna laugh. does no one remember aryas, “the woman is important too,” quote, or remember aryas nickname? aka arya underfoot? lmao. i need receipts cause this ain’t checking out.
i can’t believe that alicent was compared to sansa under the asoiaf tag. contrary to show alicent, book alicent is not the same. show alicent is totally watered down and this takes away her agency. she was made into a mary sue, and to be honest, this kinda ticks me off. surely this was to make the greens more sympathetic, but it takes away her culpability. she was nasty in the books. truly a “classist,” a “liar,” and an “internalized misogynist” based on her attitude towards rhaenyra. actually… all three of those traits can be applied to show alicent as well now that i think about it but it’s much more subtle and her lessened agency makes it harder to spot at times. (also i haven’t finished HotD).
and really, tyrion hate? really? there’s a double standard for tyrion if there’s a double standard for anything in this fandom. he does some horrible things, i’m not denying this, but why is it so hard for people to understand that right now he is NOT mentally stable, which is in no part his own fault. he’s not a villain in asoiaf. he needs help and hope.
finally, to answer the ask, i also do not agree with those who call sansa a villain. she is not similar to viserys, the hound, or janos slynt in any way. but i also haven’t seen the post saying that about her, so clearly it wasn’t very popular. this further supports my claim that these people do not represent the whole group of antis.
now, who does sansa abuse? well, she’s verbally abusive to arya. but that’s the only thing i can think of. siblings can be horrible. generally horrible. from personal experience i know that sometimes young kids are just nasty because they don’t understand why their behavior is so wrong—and with the societal enforcement of sansa’s beliefs, of course she wouldn’t think that what she’s doing is wrong. taking this to the real world, other people who have maybe experienced this type of abuse by a sibling may not be very understanding of sansa. this type of stuff can trigger people. and it’s also hard to be understanding towards sansa when she thinks stuff like wishing margaery was her sister instead of arya. until she has development, many people will greatly dislike her for her attitude towards her sister who she bullied (an example being horseface remarks). bullying is abuse; we usually just use bullying to identify abuse that takes place in a school between children of a similar age.
regarding the previous passage, a pet peeve of mine is the: “you’ve clearly never had a sibling” argument some fans try to make in order to lessen aryas abuse. it hits too close to home at times and makes me sneer at some people’s ignorance. dany and arya were both abused by their siblings and are finally able to grow as people now that they’re not under viserys thumb and sansa’s shadow. the same applies to jon. he’s no longer under catelyn’s nasty glare so he can finally grow. catelyn and sansa were not nearly as bad as viserys, but the abuse is still there and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
to be honest, i think most sansa-antis are just annoyed that sansa stan’s ruin other characters to fit them into their headcanons, steal other characters themes, or bash the female characters they see as rivals to sansa—aka dany and arya. i truly doubt the whole group actually hates her character and are just annoyed with her stans—i bet once she starts to grow, more of these antis will become indifferent to her. i stated before that she’s very stagnant right now, and many people are not happy with some of the things she’s done and the fact that grrm hasn’t had her learn from her mistakes—lemon cake… her opinion towards mya stone… and the whole sweet sleep debacle. honestly, i may be optimistic in my opinion that grrm will have her grow drastically in the next book. and if she doesn’t end up realizing the wrongness of her prejudices then my opinion of her character will lower significantly.
the point of this post? stop calling whole groups of people misogynistic because they don’t share your opinion.

Lets talk about Swindle
One of the things I appreciate about tf earthspark is how all of the characters have depth, even the ones that aren’t the main focus, and especially the decepticons. However, the one I want to talk about is swindle.
In ep 4, House Rules, swindle is his typical greasy self, manipulating Thrash and Mo by acting like a victim and their friend to get what he wants. When they turn on him, he does what we expect and pulls his gun on them.
But what is interesting about Swindle is his motivations. He wants an energon scanner because he’s trying to find his brother, Hardtop. He says things are much harder with only one person, so its probable that he’s never been on his own before, at least since the war has ended. That means its been him and hardtop against the world, and to my knowledge, this is new to Swindle’s character (i’m not counting the swindle from Armada, that one is totally different).
Of course, we could chalk up Swindle trying to find Hardtop as just him needing someone to help him find energon to survive. Swindle does mention that it is an energon scanner that he’s trying to take, so he could potentially find energon solo after dumping Mo and Thrash. But the first thing he says after finding it’s location is that it will help him find Hardtop. He isn’t even thinking about his survival at the time, his priority is his brother. And what’s more, Hardtop seems protective of Swindle as well. He shoves Swindle out of the way when OP drops a shipping container on him.
Tumblr media
Swindle got an entire episode, while we only got a few small scenes from Hardtop. But just this shot here gives him depth. He throws his brother out of the way, knowing he himself won’t make it out in time.
I don’t remember any other show giving us this much of a sympathetic view of the decepticons, at least not the minor characters. In Decoy, Frenzy mentions that they, the cassettes, are free and don’t have to follow Soundwave anymore, implying that they weren’t happy with him (or at least Frenzy wasn’t). In Age of Evolution, Nova Storm gets fucking pissed and launches herself at Megatron when he clips Skywarp’s wing. These little moments keep adding up, and with the way Megatron is written to be genuinely caring of his former comrades, I feel like this show finally wants to show us that all of the transformers are people. Not just the Autobots and Megatron, ALL of the transformers. This makes me so excited to see more of Soundwave, as hopefully they’ll flesh out his relationship with his cassettes and megatron. As for Starscream, I really hope they will show a more sympathetic side of him, perhaps for his fellow decepticons, or soundwave, or megatron, or literally anyone (I’ll even take agent schloder).
I am so excited for more of this show and it is quickly becoming my favorite because of how loving it is to its characters. I hope all of them, especially the decepticons, will have more depth and grow over the course of the show. And I think we have good reason so far to believe that they will.

thanks for the tag @wolffegirlsunite ! <3
1. ride or die ship (your otp): padme x anakin (ik he is toxic as fuck brother!!), or codywan because cute
2. most annoying ship: ahsoka x rex or anakin x rex, i just don’t see them as anything other than like siblings so it freaks me out, also i just can’t see anakin with anyone other than padme because that boy is OBSESSED (sorry if you like these ships they just aren’t my thing)
3. second favourite ship: tech x phee, i’m not even a tech girly but i just absolutely adore their dynamic
4. favourite platonic relationship: AHSOKA AND REX, i love their sibling like relationship sm, a close second is cody and rex they are the besties of the GAR and i love it, also omega and wrecker bc they are adorable
5. underrated ship: obi x satine, bly x aayla
6. overrated ship: reylo
7. one thing i would change in canon: cody being in the kenobi series 😐 (like he was fucking suppose to be!)
8. something canon did right: the entirety of the clone wars, but specifically showing how mistreated clones are and not just brushing it off as “they love war! they were made for it!😃” like how it is in the prequels, i love how the clone wars shows the process of the clones realizing they are more than what they were programmed to do, the whole shifting from clone troopers to storm troopers in tbb is something i also think canon did right because it is so important in the history of the empire, and i love how they are showing a bit of how the clone troopers are helping each other after all these years of just helping their superiors (they are finally fighting for each other!)
9. a thing i'm proud of creating for the fandom PLEASE BRAG ABOUT YOURSELF I WANT TO SEE/READ YOUR ART: my wallpapers! specifically the cowboy mando set i just uploaded :) i’m really proud of how they came out
10. a character who is perfect to me (wouldn't change a thing): rex, cody, jesse, kix, fives, echo, wolffe, hunter, howzer, gregor, mayday, etc…(LITERALLY ANY CLONE, IM NOT KIDDING) but also ahsoka, din djarrin, and chuchi too
11. the character i relate to the most and why: ahsoka probably, just growing up a certain way and realizing it isn’t right and leaving it behind you\having almost no one from that past family listen (that was kinda deep, my b)
12. character(-s) i hate the most and why: palpatine, tarkin, that mf that didn’t help mayday, PONG KRELL! i feel like the reasons are obvious
13. something i've learned from the fandom: it’s okay to be entirely invested in star wars! i get a lot of shit for being a die hard star wars fan but then i come on here and feel safe about it :)
14. three tags i seek out on ao3: i don’t have ao3 💔 i read all my fics on here because i love you writers <3
15. a song i strongly associate with my op/favourite character:

If you're still looking for asks, what do you think about the implications of Johnny joining the Club?
I'm thinking primarily about the relationship ranking post (https://www.tumblr.com/paranaturalpop/643095896315281408/i-rate-your-pnat-ships-by-how-well-they-work-as?source=share) which talks about how "Firestorm" might be a potent source of antipathy towards Spender in the club.
getting to this one a few days late because i wanted to roll it around in my head for a bit before answering. I’ll sort this response into 3 sections: 1. The Implications, 2. That analysis post and Johnny’s/Isaac’s roles in it, and 3. If Johnny potentially joining the club and teaming up with Isaac could be a potential source of dunking/dethroning Spender.
1. The Implications Of Johnny In The Club
‘What do you think about the implications’ is a little vague, so I’ll try my best here and apologize if it’s not what you’re looking for. If you’re asking ‘do you think Johnny will join the club’, IIIII think that the likelihood of Johnny joining the AC are either A) completely nonexistent, or B) Going to happen but he’s going to be Johnny about it. As someone who is used to getting what he wants by pushing others around without considering the consequences, this is something Johnny would have no choice or control over. And he will hate that. Which could be an anti-establishment/authority thing, but i also think its something johnny ‘roughest toughest buffest kid in school’ jhonny would hate as someone used to giving orders, not taking them. He has a long way to go in that area. honestly? I dont think he’d join. Not willingly. He’s happy with his friends, why would he give that up to hang with the nerd brigade? So I’m hinging his involvement with the club to be either obligation or reliance. A mutually-beneficial understanding. He’s thrust into an entirely unique and terrifying situation very quickly, the club finds and gives him a way to recontextualize and control that situation. Johnny benefits because he gets to train his powers and navigate his new surroundings. The club benefits because johnny doesn’t burn the school down. Its tense but it works. ‘What do you think the consequences of Johnny joining the AC would be’ funny as hell.
2. Referring To The Foils Post
Okay so first thing is that op and I have differing viewpoints on how 8/10 of those dynamics would work and also generally what narrative foils are. Im a literary studies minor studying creative writing and editing so I’m gonna get really pretentious here. Op if u read this no hard feelings this is not 2 dunk on ur post. the concept of ship rankings by how the characters mirror each other is great. mwah.
Ok disclaimer out of the way- almost none of the pairings here are foils by definition. Op makes good points about how the characters work or would work, but a foil is more specific than ‘character whose strengths fill another’s weaknesses and vice versa’, a foil is used as a device to highlight characteristics of your (usually main) character! They give the hero something to react against in a way that highlights their main qualities. Here’s a cool article about it! In Paranatural the biggest (maybe only?) example is Max and Johnny. Throwing away my opinions on the ship for a second to just focus on the writing aspect and their existence as devices- johnnys introduction was like a textbook usage of foiling. Johnny like embodies Mayviews uncouth absurdity and full-throttle weirdness more than anyone else at the time of his introduction. He’s very friend-focused while Max tries harder to appear aloof. When put next to each other, Max’s sarcastic humor seems even more deadpan and Johnny’s eccentricity seems even more outlandish because they contrast so much: the extreme of one gives an opportunity for the extreme of the other to shine through. That is what a foil dynamic is.
Moving on while I don’t share the majority of the writing thoughts here, i do LOVE their “Johnny and Issac have equal and opposite philosophies. Johnny doesn't care about the greater good, he just cares about a small group of people who he loves. Issac cares about the greater good, but can’t connect with individuals and ends up hurting them” bullet point. That’s AWESOME. However I think that would make them NOT get along, rather than picking up each others slack. I think Isaac would find johnny a nuisance at best. Or maybe he would see the new ‘new kid’ and see it as a mentor opportunity, a kind of ‘ill make sure you dont go through what I did’ mentality except SUPER overbearing and with his anime coolguy hero mentality. Which I think Johnny would hate.
3. Spender Dethroning Potential
eeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhh I don’t think so. I think individually they probably both don’t care much for spender, yeah, Isaacs got his whole Deal and Johnny wouldn’t care for him either. But I dont think They would be the key players in the group renouncing whatever faith is left in their teacher. I think that b-plot setup is sitting firmly on Isabels shoulders rn. Isaac and Johnny both having anti-spender spirit partners is a good point, but I don’t think it’d be something the two would particularly bond over. Or would act on just because its what their spirits want.
IMO I think johnny joining the AC is going to shake up a lot of things. I have like 10 different scenarios for how the interpersonal dynamics could turn out and where the differing developments could take the story. But I dont think Johnny is gonna make or break the club though. I think he’s just gonna be on fire (I hope hes gonna be on fire)

https://www.tumblr.com/godmodebeginswithlesbians/732567688496431104/we-need-less-sanitized-queer-stories-youre-the
I can’t believe the amount of notes this post has of people agreeing with it. I have no idea what The Locked Tomb is so I can’t speak on that, but regarding She-Ra, ever since the finale, I’m one of the people who’s been agreeing with the statement that OP is mocking here. To clarify, though, I’m not a puritanical anti at all- in fact, I’m all for less sanitized LGBT stories (yes, LGBT, not q**r), but I want them to still be well written, make actual sense narratively, and deliver a positive message for a target demographic of children, all which She-Ra failed at.
I read some of the notes and aside from the typical nonsense I’m used to seeing toxic She-Ra fans spew, there are people who reblogged this defending She-Ra while simultaneously admitting that they DIDN’T EVEN WATCH THE SHOW. Ofc they’re not gonna understand or interpret any of the criticism in good faith if they haven’t even watched the damn show. That’s the brainless mob mentality that’s to be expected on this site.
Anyway, as a writer who majored in animation, seeing posts and notes like this is so disheartening. I don’t have much hope for the entertainment industry (especially animation) or the LGBT community. Both have proven that their standards are lower than dirt and that they all have piss poor media literacy and critical thinking skills that lead them to harassing and hating on anyone who dares criticize the media that they blindly worship. It’s insulting as a writer and sets a bad precedent that professionals can just produce poorly written fan fiction with a budget that validates childish NPCs who eat it up as long as it caters to their sensibilities and is under the guise of progressivism for kids so it can be praised as “groundbreaking.” It makes me wanna steer clear of this industry entirely tbh.
I’m also familiar with SPOP but not The Locked Tomb, so I can speak on that. And we all know that I really can’t stand SPOP. I personally view it as one of those shows that was fine and even good at times until it self destructed in the last season and especially the finale with just an astonishing lack of self awareness.
The problem with Catradora, especially compared to the other ships in the show for the most part, is that’s it’s dysfunctional and toxic in a show that is targeted to children that otherwise pushes a lot of life lessons subtexually and textually. This also isn’t just a problem of the relationship itself, it extends to their actions towards other characters, such as the fact that there is no real consequence for Catra literally killing Glimmers mother out of complete selfishness. I think the whole show kind of suffers from sudden character amnesia about other characters past crimes. Because it happened with Hordak and Scorpia and Entrapta as well to varying degrees.
And I think the doublethink the show has about being Mature and Complex vs It’s A Children’s Show So You Can’t Criticize It extends to fan attitudes. And let’s be real, the Catradora kiss was not that revolutionary when SU and LOK already had their representation moments years before. In fact it’s weird and dysfunctional asf to have characters who were implied to have grown up as sisters and raised together (the literal reason why Catra was jealous and over dependent on Adora) just kiss and have all of their problems and past just basically vanish so that they can have a few cute shippy moments before the series finale.
All that aside I personally hate being pandered to and baited. I genuinely want to see stories about people who are LGBT and different races and with different belief systems and backgrounds, but just slapping a label onto a character or story doesn’t make it good, you still have to write good characters and story. You still have to work to make things cohesive and you have to understand that as a writer you will always face criticism. Especially when you market your work so hard as the next big thing.
And as an audience member, at the very least as a teen and onwards into adulthood, you should be capable of media literacy to the extent that you can watch a show about a couple toxic codependent weirdos and recognize that they were toxic codependent weirdos even if you mostly just had fun watching them get up to fucked up shenanigans.

Anti-klapollo propaganda ahead- proceed with caution if klapollo is your comfort ship :3
I saw some old anti-klapollo post on twitter that was like “don’t ship klapollo because Apollo essentially ruined klavier’s life by making everything fall apart” which I guess yeah kinda if you think about it- everything did kinda go to shit when Apollo stepped in. But it already was about to fall, Apollo just tipped it over.
Like, imagine if Apollo had NOT done anything for klavier. He probably would still be being abused and manipulated by kristoph well after his arrest, not to mention probably doing very poorly mentally. The way I see it, Apollo pretty much saved klavier from eventual self-destruction- destruction of his character, merit, and sense of joy entirely.
That’s why I love angsty klapollo art and trauma bonding fics, since both of these guys have serious stuff to work through. I can’t find it right now, but I remember finding a post once on here explaining some headcanons that op had about Apollo and klavier both having their individual breakdown moments, and each having the other step in and comfort/take care of them, the breakdowns in question being Klavier post-succession and Apollo post-whenever-clay-dies. And that’s another thing I appreciate about the ship- the mutual confiding in each other because both feel like they don’t really have anyone else (which is a lie, they both have more friends than they realize, but I digress).
