#only now it's not Yahiko?? it's Nagato controlling Yahiko's body

I've just read the Akatsuki Hiden novel and uhhh...does anybody find it kind of weird that Nagato cared about both Yahiko and Konan so much and straight up shipped them to the point of wishing they had kids one day, just to later make Yahiko's body into his main path and sort of become him? 😭

ahhh it felt so nice to write some fic again today! finally back to the Last Act. Here’s a little wip snip from the start of ch7 for anyone curious :D
They were making good time, Konan thought, as they approached the hideout that Nagato would be placed in before the siege of Konoha began.
She was sitting in a large carriage with Nagato, watching him closely, making sure that he wasn’t overly injured by the shifts and bumps in the road. This cart needed to be custom-designed to support his large size — it wasn’t just Nagato who they needed to transport, but the many chakra rods impaled in his back, and the throne-like structure that supported him. Nagato was planning to control all six Paths of Pein simultaneously, which would draw heavily on his chakra sources. He’d thus been reserving his energy by dozing in the cart, wincing occasionally when a bump in the road jarred the rods in an uncomfortable position. She’d tried her best not to wake him, keeping the blinds drawn across the cart and resting a blanket across his lap, keeping in the heat.
She went to see Nagato in person as often as she could, but this was rarely possible with her extensive duties in the Akatsuki. Now, despite the difficult time they would find ahead of them, fighting against a large, rich, hidden village, she was grateful for the chance to see her friend as himself, rather than shrouded by the image of the man they’d both once loved. His red hair hung lank over his Rinnegan eyes and his mouth twisted in a constant source of pain from the shifting rods in his back, but she could tell he was anticipating their progress as much as she was.
The carriage slowed, and then stopped, as they reached the clearing where Nagato would be deposited. Here he would be close enough to Konoha to employ the Rinnegan’s abilities.
She nudged him gently, and he returned to consciousness, tilting his head to let his long hair fall away from his eyes, looking at her blearily.
“It’s time,” she said.
Nagato couldn’t walk, so she carried him in her paper jutsu, spinning the parchment to kept him secure as they travelled out of the carriage and into the clearing. Then, again, she drew deep into her chakra, forming a mammoth, cavernous imitation tree from paper, growing from the ground up around them. She reinforced the paper carefully, making the tree’s walls stronger than that of a building. She would leave with Pein’s Paths, and Nagato would be distracted by seeing through the eyes of his puppets, so it was vital that this hideout was as secure as possible.
Inside the paper tree was dark, only a tiny amount of light filtering through the paper walls. Konan set the throne for Nagato at one wall, his Paths standing to attention behind her, and placed some small artificial lights near his feet so that they could see each-other.
“How is this?” she asked Nagato.
He nodded, fatigued from the journey even with the time he’d spent resting. She was tired too, after so many years and so much loss. It would be good to finally end this. Konan was living to make Nagato’s dream a reality, and today, they would make large strides toward their eventual goal.
“Good,” Nagato said, through Yahiko’s body. “This is sufficient.”
“A bit too dark for me, personally,” said a foreign voice.
Konan twirled to face the origin of the sound, alarm bells sounding in her head.
“It feels like a cave,” the voice continued. “Hasn’t this organisation had enough of caves to last a lifetime?”
Someone was here. Someone had entered their hideout without her noticing.
That was concerning. But whoever it was, they would have no chance against her and the entire contingent of Nagato’s Paths.
The voice came from far back in the tree, outside the small light source under Nagato. It was too dark to see anything at that distance.
“Mah, there’s something to be said for the effectiveness of a well-trod path,” a different voice said, circumspect. Konan’s eyes narrowed, peering through the darkness to try and make out these figures. Two rather than one was still no challenge to defeat. But how had their hideout been discovered? “Though happily, a paper cave-in is unlikely to lead to any injury.”
“When Konan is the one building it? Her paper’s deadly. I wouldn’t take that bet.”
And they knew her, and her abilities.
She stepped in front of Nagato. Nagato’s Paths were now starting to stalk out around the edge of the cave, their many Rinnegan gleaming purple through the darkness.
“Well. I admit I’d be much happier if we could keep you out of any unstable structures, paper or no.”
“Agreed. Then let’s get on with this.”
The figures began to walk forward, coming closer into the light. It was their eyes that she could pick out first, two red pinpricks amongst the darkness.
They didn’t have much time, and Konan knew the value of a quick attack. Without any warning, she drew out a row of paper bombs and cast them into the space ahead of her, letting off an immediate explosion. In tandem, Pein wearing Yahiko’s body stepped forward and held out his hands, warping gravity enough to keep the explosion from coming their way, instead pushing it back to the intruders. The bombs combined with Pein’s gravity-defying jutsu destroyed some of the paper wall of the tree, letting the bright glare of sunlight filter through the gap. The sunlight plus the mist and dust of explosion cast hazy outlines of the two intruders, revealing both of them to be wearing cloaks.
And revealing that they were still standing, and did not appear to be injured by the blast, nor by Pein’s Shinra Tensei attack.
And that they were — holding hands?
One of them waved their free arm wildly through the slowly-clearing dust. “Waah, Konan-san, Leader-san, too mean! We haven’t even had time to say hello, and I do not wanna give my teammate a panic attack with this paper tree thing falling down on me.”
And that voice she knew very well. It was the same voice that made her grit her teeth in irritation; that made her skin crawl, because a monster wearing a coat of ridiculous silliness was still a monster.
Tobi.
And, therefore…
“Madara?” Nagato rasped, using his own voice, not one of his Paths. With his eyes, he peered into the darkness. The Rinnegan could see much better than Konan’s own two eyes, and he was likely able to make out the chakra of the figures.
“Hah. Well, yes and no.” Back to that register that was unfamiliar to Konan; but now with the context of Tobi’s voice, she could locate it. This was Madara using not his ridiculous high voice and not the low register that he used when he wasn’t putting on his character, but a secret third tone.
“’Madara?’” enquired the other voice.
“Er, yeah. He’s like the Shadow Mizukage but even more of a bastard, if you can believe. Don’t ask me to be him around you. I won’t do it.”
They stepped closer, and the mist from the explosion drifted further away, and with the light filtering in from outside, it was now possible to see them both. And…
This was unexpected.
Madara wasn’t wearing his mask. He looked around her own age, the right side of his face mangled with scars, the left side eye closed.
He looked nothing like the Madara that she had seen in pages of the history books.
Though sometimes history misled. Of course, she knew that well, with the way the major villagers had all-but eliminated history of antagonism against the smaller villages from their curriculum. And he had that red eye. A Sharingan. He was most certainly an Uchiha.
Beside him was the S-rank Konoha Shinobi Hatake Kakashi. Like Madara, there wasn’t a single scratch on him from the blast. It wasn’t surprising that Madara’s ability had let the explosion and effect of Nagato’s Rinnegan pass through him, but if Hatake was in the same unhurt state, then Madara must have deliberately protected him.
Ah, that’s why they had been holding hands.
But then, why were they, still. Holding hands.

Never ending pain
Had a hard time sleeping yesterday so I let my mind imagine Suko in the context of the canon timeline:
Yahiko does die, the first Akatsuki people all die for those who went after Yahiko and Nagato, for those who stayed at the hideout they had to go into hiding by fear of being hunted down by Hanzo: this is Suko's situation. Upon hearing the news Naka comes to see him and convince him to get rid of his uniform, and hide into Amegakure as a civilian
Going into hiding Suko jumps from small job to another until settling on a rather night job as a stripper, having friends there who helped him hide, having a little studio provided for him over the establishment. He let his hair grow, and stop taking testosterone. He socially only presents as a woman outside. Mentally he's doing bad. All his friends are dead, presumably. Out of the few people that also went into hiding he never see them again, most having gone to try and kill Hanzo out of retaliation only to be killed.
Naka eventually get killed too, her clinic having been well known to help Akatsuki. Suko, who was asked by her to avoid the clinic out of safety, only learns it long after it's done, finding the clinic deserted. He's terribly sad, but keeps on living. He makes new friends in his new life and manage to live decently. He knows he's not powerful enough or brave enough to attempt any sort of revenge.
Then the coup happens, Hanzo dies, and ame changes leadership. Suko doesn't go out much so he just learns the news and never get to see Pain with his own eyes. He think it's better to not be involved into anything and anxiously wait to see what this brings for Ame. But one day Suko catch a glimpse of Pain, the Deva path. And recognize it as Yahiko. He doesn't understand.
Why does he has Nagato's eyes.
He is sure his friends have been twisted into something bad, something terrifying. And so this doesn't ease his fears. He sees Konan too from afar and is scared to see her from up close too, because she might also have been twisted into something else. And he doesn't want to see what horrors have been done to his friends.
Until one day in the streets Konan catches a glimpse of Suko and stops to see him, face to face. This is shattering for Suko. She's here, and alive, and well. All this time he thought she had died too. They talk a little, both eager to catch up, but knowing the circumstances are more than awkward. Suko eventually accepts to follow Konan. To see Him. Suko is scared but now want to know the truth. Konan explains what happened to Yahiko. Reassuring there's more left than Nagato's eyes. Seeing Nagato plugged to his control device is another heartbreak. It's unfair that after all he's been through, life found a way to get worse for him. Nagato's not exactly glad at first to be seen in his true shape by someone else. But he's glad to see him again. Konan and Nagato tells him about this new Akatsuki. And it's goal. And their own plan to bring peace. It's twisted and cynical, but Suko is already broken enough as it is that he's just glad to have finally two of his friends back. He abandons his job and comes to live at the tower. Begging Nagato to let him take care of him. Making it his only goal in life. That's all he has left, Nagato and Konan.
He's not sure Nagato's plans are a good thing. But he follows. Only caring about these two, making sure they eat, sleep, and giving them company. Suko is not really a member of Akatsuki, being asked to step out to avoid Madara, but he lives for them now.
When Nagato and Konan depart for Konoha, Suko comes with them. But he knows deep in his guts that this isn't good. The village get torn, Amegakure has its revenge at last, but the cost is directly seen on Nagato's body. Suko clenches his fists and wait anxiously, ready to defend him if necessary, wanting it to be over soon. The fight against nine tails digs even deeper into his life-force, Suko can only spectate. One after the other, Pain falls and in the hiding tree made by Konan, there is only anxious waiting now. The jinchuriki is coming, and he will probably attempt to kill them. Suko readies his kunai, standing by Konan's side. Suko is not yet completely mad to attack Naruto on sight when he gets there. Again he can only wait while this plays out, the two Uzumakis talking to each other. Nagato is tired and his resolve got weaker with time. Maybe it's his and Konan's fault for being still there for him, maybe if he was deeper in the darkness he would not have come to turn around on his plans and revenge.
Suko's heart - which was feeling a little more hopeful seeing Nagato abandon his dark plans - suddenly dank when he made the hand seals for the rinne rebirth, planning to revive all the souls killed in his attack. Suko and Konan knows he won't survive this. Konan looks down sadly, knowing there is no way to talk him out of this. Suko is more emotional, and let his despair explode. He begs for Nagato to stop this. Begs for him to not kill himself for this. Whatever his crimes are he doesn't deserve to die for Konoha to live. His anger explodes as well, feeling betrayed that he would not ask for his or Konan's opinion beforehand. He's going to leave them here, leave them alone. And not even say goodbye. Not even a last kiss or hug. This makes Nagato's face twist into a graver expression but he doesn't cancel the seal, and continues to drain his last forces to revive everyone, his hair turn white and life finally escapes him as Suko collapse to the floor in tears.
"He balls his fists up and lets the pathetic flame of despair ignite into a roaring wall of fire in his chest, burning him up just like the tears now stinging at his eyes. Being this bold to someone so dear to him was never in his plans...but letting it slide felt even worse. Suko becomes animated then, in the small space between the four of them, directing all of his conflicting aching feelings at one of the last remaining bastions of the old life that was long gone. "Why are you doing this? Why do you have to die but they get to live? All they've ever done for you...to you...is cause grief!" Every warring emotion fighting for prominence in him crashes together like opposing waves. He feels like a stick of dynamite burning from three ends. His chest hurts, his stomach is sour, and his heart is fractured horribly. Deeply ringed eyes look upon him and understand why he's feeling this way. But it cannot be helped now...Nagato has made up his mind. Suko's nails don't quite dig in to his bare chest, but he's sure that part of him wants to, if it would get his point across effectively. Words are pointless now. Minds are made up, hearts are steeled. But it doesn't sting any less for either of them. "What are we going to do without you?" There is a slight falter in Suko's voice then, but he covers it up quickly. "What will the Rain do? What will we do?" Nagato wishes he had an acceptable answer for that, but anything he could say now felt not good enough. This was goodbye and not on a good note." (- Snippet sent to me by @yamanaka-shin upon cursing it with my sad stuff)
While Konan wraps Yahiko and Nagato's bodies and talk with Naruto, Suko is shut into himself, only following Nagato's body. He refuses to talk to anyone from Konoha. Konan is kinder, more patient. But he knows she must be devastated as well. She might find a way to bounce back in a more hopeful way later but that night when reaching home she collapses as well in Suko's lap.
In Ame she shows him the shrine, where Nagato and Yahiko will be resting now. Suko spends a long time on the ground at their feet, crying. But Konan stands strong and plans to take the control of the city by herself. Suko will be by her side, trying to be strong for her.
Obito's attack is no surprise to Konan as we was waiting for him, but she did not warn Suko about it, to protect him. Everyone in Amegakure hears the explosion at the lake, and Suko goes to try and find her but she's nowhere in the tower. He finds her body floating in the water, life escaping for her and he attempts to heal her but it's too late. She dies in his arms after she says she wants to come back home.
Suko is devastated, again, but he takes her body and goes to the shrine, to rest her where she belongs, next to her best friends. But once he arrives there, Nagato's body is gone. He lays Konan next to Yahiko before letting it all explode again. It's not fair that everything's been taken from him. Not fair that even in death, Nagato can't have peace. He eventually learns about Obito, but cannot find it in himself to fight him. He knows there's an abysmal difference of power so what's the point.
He goes back to his home village, finding only ruins now, to go on his father and brother's grave, lamenting over all his dead loved ones. He wishes to end it but cannot find it in him to harm himself. Back in Ame, he cannot find it in him to step up and lead either, despite the city desperately needing someone. He's too hurt, too broken to do anything with his life, but he has to continue living.

Anonymous: May I please request Pain with a scientist female s/o who is a scientist and half-human, half-robot from a futuristic, dystopian world where everything has advanced technology. The s/o was sent to other planets to explore and discover new life forms and ended up in a whole other galaxy.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessiveness, obsessiveness, manipulation, forceful Yandere, controlling Yandere, stalking, nonhuman s/o
Half-robot s/o from another galaxy
Tumblr media
🌧️Pain is not going to give his darling a very warm welcome as soon as he discovers her for the first time. He's cautious and distrusting as soon as he starts to realize how vastly different you are from the average civilian he has met so far, your body definitely not completely human. That will be at the very latest the moment where he deducts you at first as a potential threat and since he is determined to finish his goals, he has no qualms about erasing every nuisance in his way. Though for now your intentions are still unknown and for that a sharp observation is his initial way to find out whether you're his enemy or someone entirely else.
🌧️You'd think that he would stop his investigation as soon as he has collected enough evidence that you do not plan on standing in his way, wouldn't you? Well, that's not right. Because even if Nagato is at this rate pretty convinced that you won't be a bother, he is still aware that something about you is still off. Not only does it enhance his curiosity, additionally it doesn't quench the last spark of caution inside of him. Because even if you don't even know him and don't know about his existence, having someone as strange like you wandering around his village still latches onto his mind.
🌧️You remind him of his Shurado path the first time he truly discovers who and what you exactly are, the exposure that you are half-robot, half-human managed to catch him the slightest bit off guard, even though he'll never show it. Nagato still is unsure how to deal with you after he has found it out, be that through stalking or because he has forced the answer out of you by now, not able to keep his nagging suspicion at bait anymore. He's encountered some shit in his life, but hearing that you're from a futuristic dimension and ended up accidentally in his world takes this to a whole new level. Konan, even if equally confused, treats you nicer, feeling sympathy after hearing your story. You poor girl must be confused and terribly afraid yourself.
🌧️Won't let you leave after knowing this anymore, you know too much and your origins are highly interesting. If he has his infatuation at this point already, it's only all the more reasons to not let you go. If he isn't obsessed with you yet, it starts very soon after because you and your story fascinate him more than he shows on the outside. Call him an asshole, but he ends up being really glad that you ended up in his galaxy, even if you might not be that happy as he is. Konan kind of scolds him for it, she feels still conflicted because she sees that Nagato seems to be much more joyful and fuller of emotion when he is around you. He's a bit skittish at first how you will feel about his real appearance, you concluded it after all from a very early point on that Yahiko's body isn't really alive anymore, just as much as all the other bodies Nagato uses.
🌧️Be it because you're a scientist yourself or because you are not fully human either, you never felt scared of his nearly destroyed body. Much more on the opposite, being the scientist his darling is, she ended up showing very much interest in the way he is able to control six bodies with different abilities, something that surprised Nagato as much as it made him uncomfortable. In comparison to Pain, he shows more emotions since he is more prone whilst Pain expresses a colder and more emotionless side.
🌧️Something that does bother Nagato is the fact that you are not completely human, though for you it's as normal and daily as the rain in this village. Maybe that is why you have slight problems with interacting completely normal with Konan, him and all the other Pains, maybe it's just the first time that you have lived with persons who are entirely made out of flesh and blood. The s/o is very eccentric, though she still has emotions and feelings of her own, especially her huge interest and curiosity how life works in this world. Nagato and Pain both are well aware of the risk that she might leave one day after she has collected enough data, information and a way to travel so Nagato and the bodies he controls, plus Konan, all try to keep her in this galaxy.
🌧️Konan suggest a less forceful way unlike the imitation Pain would probably want to use at first, feeding you stories and informations to only elict your interest further proves to be a very effective way after all. Nagato is content with this as well, though if he interacts through Pain with you, he still has this threatening aura around himself. He shows with time more and more sympathy as well after you've explained the misery in your own world, how everyone is being controlled and brainwashed by people who have high ranks and want to ensure that no one acts up against the system. Your world is just as much in shards as his own is, though he plans to at least make this world a better place.

A Date with an Angel // Part Three // Sasori and Itachi
Sasori
“Do you like this place? It’s really colorful, isn’t it?” “It’s alright.” “These nachos are delicious. Do you want some?” “No thanks, the cheese would upset my stomach. I’m mildly lactose intolerant.” Konan just sighs to herself and picks her drink back up, slowly sipping as she tries to think of a good topic for conversation. Earlier, when the redheaded house member Sasori had invited her to spend an evening with him, her surprise had been greater than with any of the others so far. When she’d first been introduced to the household back when she moved in, she’d taken one look at Sasori and had been shocked; later on she sat in Nagato’s room and demanded to know why he was employing children to do the type of work that they did. “Children?”, he’d responded, shaking his head. “Sasori is no child; he’s 35 years old. He’s older than me and you, even.” 35?? With his short stature, smooth, unlined face and vibrantly colored hair ... it was simply unbelievable. The more she got to know him, however, the more she realized that he was indeed very mature; maybe too mature. He never smiled, never laughed, and made even less conversation than Kakuzu did. Whenever Konan made meals, he never joined any of the others at the table. “Don’t worry; it don’t have anything to do with you or your cooking,” Deidara had told her one night when she questioned it. “The guy just never eats. Hardly sleeps, either. It’s like he’s not human or something.” Considering his quiet, serious personality, his choice of venue to take Konan to tonight was entirely odd. “A comedy club?”, she’d asked, as he guided her through the doors. “Mm. They’re amateurs but really quite good. I’m sure you’ll laugh a lot.” And laugh Konan did — but not Sasori. His facial expression didn’t change once all evening, and he didn’t so much as crack a smile through even the most hilarious of acts. Now it was the interlude between sets, and Konan was trying to find something, anything to make conversation about. Before she can, the next guy comes on. It’s a man with a small dummy that he sits on his knee, that “tells” the jokes for him. Konan happens to glance at Sasori and is startled; for once, he seems interested. His eyes stay fixated on the little wooden toy throughout the man’s set, and when he’s done, it’s the first time that Sasodi cracks any kind of a smile. “Are you a fan of ventriloquism?” Sasori turns towards her, and unleashes more words than she’s heard him say in the entire time of living at the house. Sasori is gesturing, he’s vivid and animated as he explains the process of creating dummies and puppets, and the finer points of ventriloquism. “I didn’t know this was a hobby of yours.” He raises an eyebrow, and tells her it goes far beyond a hobby. The show is over so he takes her back home, and brings her straight to his room (which she’s never seen the inside of before). She gives a little gasp upon entering; Sasori’s shelves are filled to the rafters with various wooden constructs, some unfinished, some painted, some clothes, some with hair and jewelry and —
Konan goes to pick up a smaller one laying on a bench, gently turning it this way and that. “This is so realistic,” she says, softly. “I wish I had the patience for creating art like this.” “What do you mean? Your art is amazing as well.” She blinks when he says that; surely he’s not referring to — “I’ve been in awe of your origami for quite some time. The things you create are very beautiful. I’d love it if you could teach me your technique sometime.” Konan blushes; nobody except Yahiko had ever complimented her origami hobby before. She sees a piece of paper laying on his desk, and begins slowly folding and teaching him how to make a basic flower. After observing and asking questions, he’s able to replicate the simple lotus. She then asks him if he could walk her through the process for creating one of his pieces, which he does, from sanding to sculpting to painting. “Things like this are better than humans,” he tells her, quietly, at one point. “These you can create, and you can control. But you never really know what a person is thinking, or feeling, or what they’re going to do next.” At the end of it, Konan glances up at the clock on his wall and gasps: 1am?! Where had the time gone?? She gets up and thanks Sasori for (what turned out to be) a lovely evening. He hesitates, then takes her hand and gives it a light kiss. “You are welcome to come back any time you wish,” he says, as he walks her to his door. “I’m a night owl so if I’m not out on a job, I’ll be awake and working.” She nods, smiles, then returns to her own room. Before she falls asleep she thinks of another flower to teach him: the campanula. These bright blossoms offer beauty, and intricacy ... and are a symbol of new friendships.
Itachi
“Oh my Goddd.” “What’s wrong, Konan?” “Nothing; it’s just, I haven’t felt this relaxed in a while. Itachi smiled and took a sip of his lemonade, before answering, in his quiet way, “Me, too.” When Konan had been approached by the dark-haired Itachi earlier in the day and asked if she wished to spend some time with him that afternoon, she’d been excited. Itachi was somebody that mostly kept to himself within the house; always quiet, very soft-spoken but when he DID speak he always said the most profound things Konan had ever heard. He was one of the most calm and mature members of Nagato’s team, an Konan’s shock upon discovering that he was only 21 years old was immense. One night she went into the kitchen to cook everyone a meal, and was pleasantly surprised to find Itachi there ahead of her, doing prep-work for the dish she had said she was going to make. From then on, the two developed a slow, lovely friendship, punctuated mostly by them cooking together and occasionally watching a movie in the living room. Today however was the very first time she went anywhere with him in public, and she was nearly flabbergasted when they pulled up to a well-known luxury spa. “This — Itachi this kinda stuff is expensive. I can’t let you —“ but he just waved her off, took her inside, and told the lady behind the desk that they both wanted “the works”. A slow, soothing full-body massage, manicures and pedicures, eye and hair treatment, mud masks, as many desserts as they wanted (Itachi especially seemed to have a thing for the sweet dumplings), and now, a hot tub. “I wouldn’t have thought a guy would be into stuff like this,” Konan commented, reaching for her sweet tea. “Man or woman, everyone needs the chance to relax, don’t they?” Konan nods, and then says “Well I’m sure that all of you that work for Nagato do. But me? What am I doing that I deserve something like this? MY job isn’t nearly as stressful, and —“ “You take care of all of us. You’re there for us. That may sound simplistic, but that’s no small feat, my dear.” The two are quiet for a while, listening to the relaxing nature-esque background music of the spa, before Itachi says, quietly, “If — if you ever feel like talking about HIM, you can talk to me. I don’t know if you’re ready but I want you to know I’ve experienced loss, too.” Konan closes her eyes; while she appreciates Itachi’s kindness, she’s NOT ready to talk about Yahiko. So she asks instead, “You lost someone close to you?” He nods, faces her, and tells her the story about losing his parents in a car accident when he was 12. His voice wavers when he tells her that they were coming home from a parent-teacher conference for HIM, and how, for the longest time, he blamed himself for their deaths. “Me and my younger brother Sasuke were taken in by my older cousin Shisui,” he explained, now smiling. “Nice guy but definitely not father material. I guess it’s just the Uchiha curse; you lose someone and have to go to someone else. It happened to me, to Obito —“ Konan stops him, and is REALLY surprised to learn that Itachi and Obito are distant cousins. “But anyway, I just want you to know I get it. If the day ever comes when you want to talk, I can be there for you.” She scoots over in the water and hugs him; she blushes when she realizes her towel has slipped, and for a brief few moments their bare chests are touching. “S-sorry about that,” she says, backing away and covering up. “Don’t worry about it,” he replies; but he’s blushing quite hard as well. The drive home is quiet, each feeling comfortably invigorated and relaxed. When they get to the front door, Konan leans up and kisses Itachi’s cheek, thanking him for a lovely day. He tells her that she made the day even lovelier. They go inside and all of the boys make it a point to go up to Konan and tell her how great she looks after her day of pampering, which she appreciates. She goes into the kitchen to start dinner, and once again finds Itachi there ahead of her. She smiles and ties on her apron, and the two create another delicious meal together.

first time headcanon -- pain
@slutforakatsuki:  Can I order Pain's first time? *winks* I want to see what your thoughts tell you about such a scenario. *winks*
a/n: don’t mind me when i add elements of tsubaki into this *ahem* and oops, this turned into a little fic too
NSFW below the cut!
Tumblr media
okay, so, we all know that pain is a very busy man
so, sex really is not something that was anywhere near a priority until you came into his life
with pain actually being nagato, he feels reluctant at first to take on any of his horny instincts because it would be using his friend’s body (yahiko)
you lay there in bed and are wearing a seductive red piece of lingerie
pain stops in his tracks when he enters the room and just stares
like, he’s literally looking at you like “😬”
you’re confused and slightly insulted, so, you push yourself up from the bed and attempt to leave
but pain puts his hand on your waist in order to stop you
his rinnegan eyes study you and before you know it -- you’re laying flat on your back on the bed
nagato on the other end is literally having a panic attack
does he indulge in his fantasies while using yahiko’s body? it isn’t like he can do it himself physically
but his human desires take over and he decides he wants some fuck
pain is soft at first because he is a virgin
he kisses you like he has before but you want more
“i’ll show you,” you whisper as you slip your tongue into his mouth
it doesn’t take long for pain to catch on and his tongue is literally discovering every square millimeter of your mouth
when he finally sticks his dick in you, you’re shocked at the feeling/sight of his piercings because yeah, he’s got em
they decorate the underside of his entire shaft
he starts off slow because he feels a connection with you even deeper now
pain/nagato has only known pain and ruined relationships
so, being in an intimate moment like this is something big and important to him
but this soon subsides and his god complex takes over him
and soon he shows you just how dominant he is
he thought that missionary was his favorite until he discovered that putting you on your hands and knees for doggy style was his favorite
he could control you in different ways and lived for the sound of his pounding against your hips
expect dick appointments to be a thing now, especially when he’s feeling overworked
despite being the villain that we all know pain to be, he was pretty nervous to have sex for the first time. nagato/pain was happy (that’s an understatement) to have someone to hold dear for him and you were another reason for him to enact his goals for peace. being in control of yahiko’s body was something that really made him hesitant to have sex. also, nagato is a virgin and had little experience about knowing anything to do with sex. he is a man with a mission but still a man.
so, the precious orange and red boi starts off soft. like asking if you feel good and if he’s hurting you. he pretty much is cockwarming and you’re like, “uhhh, pain?” but he’s confused because he really thinks that sex is something that is only meant to be romantic and stuff like that. but you explain it to him that despite being in love, you want something a little more, “interesting”
“interesting?” he asks. you explain to him that you want to be dicked down and just flat out say, “have your way with me,” and this just bloats his ego. so -- he has his way.
pain also doesn’t pull out when he’s finished.

Naruto AU
Aight so I’ve got this idea in my head about a Sannin-centric Naruto AU where all the Sannin still leave the village but like in the same situation of like Jiraiya’s departure. Meaning that they’re still kind of loyal (yes, even Orochimaru) and they still help the village in little ways but they just don’t live there. So anyway, in this AU the shinobi population of Konoha are kind of sick and tired of the third hokage and all his fuckery. Since he’d been reinstated after the Kyuubi attack, he made lots of decisions (Hyuuga affair, segregation of Uchiha clan, etc.) that just really frayed his relationship with the shinobi. Basically, at this point everyone’s like “we need to get that old man out of that fucking chair” and Hiruzen agrees! He thinks he’s way too old to still be doing this shit. He already retired once for a reason. But of course there’s no one in the village who can really replace him. No one really has both the strength as a shinobi and political clout necessary to becoming a Kage and the only people that do are kind of fucked in the head (coughcoughdanzocoughcough). So everyone’s thinking it over and then someone’s like “hey. why don’t we drag the Sannin back to Konoha” and Hiruzen’s like “yes I think we should do that.
Now the Sannin, during this time (I imagine they all left pre Kyuubi attack), have been wandering around the elemental nations collecting kids. Jiraiya went to Ame and fully adopted Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato and now the four of them are a part of Konoha’s spy network (fuck the akatsuki and fuck making ame a better place). The kids gained Konoha jounin status by working with Jiraiya and shit.
Tsunade, of course, is running around with Shizune and Tenzo, still an alcoholic but not as anti-Konoha as she is in canon before Naruto drags her ass back. Shizune is also a Konoha jounin who is a medic-nin and poison specialist. Tenzo, in my head, is the biological child of Dan and Tsunade and was born with Mokuton which isn’t as powerful as his great-grandfather’s but is strong nonetheless. So Tenzo and Shizune are cousins.
Now Orochimaru. I absolutely adore Orochimaru in this AU. Loyal/good Orochimaru is my shit but add motherhen Orochimaru to the mix and I’m properly dead (i mostly thought of this AU by having constant intrusive thoughts of Orochimaru being the best parent/teacher anyone could ever ask for) When Orochimaru left the village, he left with little Anko right on his heels. They traveled and shit doing their mad scientists thing and pick up a couple gremlins along the way. First, they get Kabuto, who is living with Yakushi Nonou. Nonou lets Orochimaru leave with Kabuto with the promise that he’ll make Kabuto a fucking great leaf shinobi (and with the promise to visit lots :) ). Next, they rescue Karin from being a slave for those shinobi (and they help Karin with burning down the village for killing her mother or whatever) Then, with the help of Karin’s sensor abilities, they find Kimimaro locked in the tiny ass dirty ass cage the Kaguya clan locked him in while they weren’t using him as a dog to sic on whoever they’re fighting and Orochimaru’s just like “the Kaguya clan is too distracted getting massacred to notice me taking this malnourished and unloved child to take care of” And then, once again with the help of Karin’s sensor abilities, they find Juugo hiding in a tree near his burning village and its just like “oh no a lonely child who’s entire life was just destroyed time to adopt” Juugo mostly agrees because with the despair of losing everything he’s ever known he loses control of his powers and he just goes all monster when he gets mad like he does in canon and Kimimaro’s kekkei genkai is the only thing that can control him when he gets like that. Finally, they complete their crew with the addition of baby Mitsuki who is not a test tube baby but as an abandoned baby who was weirdly left in a dense chakra zone (think a body of land that seems to be so imbued with chakra that it feels like the land is alive (kind of like how Uzushio is often depicted in fanon)).
So the Sannin are all walking around with their kids and sometimes they interact with each other occasionally. Like when Kimimaro begins showing signs of sickness Orochi immediately bum-rushes Tsunade and is like “my kid’s dying fic him.” Or like sometimes they all just get together and chill with each other. Sometimes Jiraiya and Orochi meet up so Karin and Nagato can spend some cousin time together. Maybe they even take them to the ruins of Uzushiogakure to find some of their clan’s fuuinjutsu so they can learn it.
And boy do I have an idea for the Uzumaki Clan archives !! I’ll get into later since I’m getting so far off track.
So anyway the Sannin are training their kids and making super powerful shinobi and all of the kids become leaf shinobi with the permission of Hiruzen because he knows what his students have been getting up to. But like the rest of the Konoha doesn’t know about them. So when the Sannin are called back to Konoha to discuss the future of the village everyone’s kind of like, “why the fuck is there so much people we only asked for like three” Introductions and new friendships ensue.
-
I’m totally gonna flesh out this idea later and I might even make a whole AU tag. This will become my magnum opus.

Akatsuki Littlespace Headcanons
I could and probably will write more, but I don’t feel like it right now, so here’s this.
Disclaimer 1: Littlespace, in the AU and in real life, is a coping mechanism for everything from everyday stressors to psychological disorders like PTSD. If you sexualize littlespace do not interact with this AU or me, I will block you.
Disclaimer 2: Littlespace in this post is slightly different from in real life, magic-ed up in a similar way to how ninjas are magic-ed up in the Naruto universe. Chakra-using littles actually revert to the size they were when they were their little ages, although they retain any bodily changes since then (little Kakuzu still has stitches, little Deidara would have hand mouths.) The exception of course is Sasori, whose body is manmade and doesn’t change. People also do not necessarily remember their big lives when they slip into littlespace, sometimes becoming confused about where they are and who they’re with. They will sometimes be confused about what time period they’re in as well, believing things to have happened that hadn’t happened yet in their little age but were far in the past in their adult age.
This isn’t how I’m going to treat littlespace w/ Naruto characters all the time on this account btw, it’s just an idea I’ve been playing around with, like the psychological defense of reverting to a childlike state inadvertently triggers a transformation jutsu to match.
Nagato:
Little age pre Yahiko’s death was 6-7, post is 2-4
Started regressing shortly after the formation of the original Akatsuki. She and Yahiko had to do research to figure out why their teenage friend had suddenly turned into a child, but after they learned they took care of him: treated him like a child, bought him kids books from the local thrift shop, tucked him into bed. He called them uncle and auntie.
He would stay in littlespace for a surprisingly long amount of time, for 4-6 hours on days between missions.
After Yahiko’s death he spent many days in a row regressed to age two. Konan scrambled to take care of him and handle her own grieving. After that was over he promised her she wouldn’t have to take care of him again.
Nowadays of course she still takes care of him when he regresses, but he tries to force himself out of it if he begins to.
He still has board books and stuffies, so if he does fully regress he’ll have one of his pein bodies bring them to him.
Being ~3 he doesn’t have the mental capacity to control all the Peins, so they just kind of idle for awhile.
Konan:
Little age is 3-5
Pre modern Akatsuki she didn’t like regressing at all and only did it involuntarily. She would handle it by either walking it off or reading Nagato’s board books by herself.
This continued pretty much until she started becoming friends with Kakuzu, who openly admitted he was a little (he thought she should know, in case it ended up delaying his missions--it was mostly so she would stick up for him to Pein. No, he wasn’t hunting bounties, there’s a perfectly logical explanation--)
So she had a bad day while she and Kakuzu were at the same base and went ‘can you please deal with me for a couple of minutes’ and he was like ‘ofc’ so she sat down in front of him and shrank down to a little girl and started crying. He picked her up and bounced her on his knee until she calmed down. She ended up staying little for a couple of hours because Kakuzu took her out of the office and telling her stories about his childhood while they prepared dinner.
Kisame becomes her caretaker too when the three of them start dating.
Sometimes she starts crying inconsolably about something she won’t talk about other than someone leaving her and something being unfair. Pein showed up during this one time and said he knew what she was talking about and it was none of her cgs’ concern which ofc made them concerned but they haven’t gotten the chance to talk to her about it.
Itachi:
Little age is 2-4 but since her chakra is often very low so she doesn’t always physically become that tiny.
She didn’t regress until after she joined the Akatsuki, but when she did Kisame wasn’t surprised. He reintroduced himself as her babysitter, slipped her a lollipop and took her to a library to pick out some kids books.
Loves to be pampered. Oh god it’s the only time she can relax at all
Wears reading glasses because they can’t get her in to an eye doctor appointment
She’s trans in this au because I say so
Likes playing with weasel and crow toys, esp when her caretaker (usually Kisame, Konan and Kakuzu as well when they’re around) plays the weasel and she’s the crow. She’ll tell stories where they go out to the woods to train or just hang out.
She loves to sit in laps <3
She eats a lot more in littlespace than out so whoever’s feeding her makes lots of food. For her to grow big and strong u know
Kisame:
Little age 0. He is just baby
Being reminded of the bloody mist triggers his littlespace, though he has to be in a bad headspace in the first place. It really does not happen often.
Post Akatsuki the first time he slipped was after he, Kakuzu and Konan started dating. Kakuzu woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of crying and woke Konan up immediately afterwards because holy sh*t there’s a baby in our bed!!
It was Kisame. Kakuzu picked him up and rocked him back to sleep. Konan asked how he was so good with kids and he was like ‘oh I had a baby once.’ She does not ask him to elaborate. Kisame wakes up as an adult the next morning.
They keep a container of powder formula for him if he regresses but won’t get him a pacifier because they’re afraid he’d bite off and choke on the teat. They have bottles but Kakuzu makes the nipples for them out of one of his threads on the spot bc he’d bite through literally everything else with his tiny demon teeth.
Sasori:
Little age is unclear (unlike some of the others, he’s never said it.)
Signs he’s in littlespace: stops talking, stops walking if he can afford it, walks unsteadily and a little bowlegged if he can’t. Stops using ninjutsu and if he’s near a kitchen he might try to eat despite not having a digestive system anymore. Has been known to ask where Granny Chiyo is. The answer is ‘back home.’
Deidara got him a pacifier and a coloring book. He does use them but not when anyone else is watching, not even Deidara.
He is a bit upset when he’s reminded that his body is wooden. He would like to feel things please. But he learns to just enjoy the sensation of squishing a stuffie and his jaw chewing on a paci.
Deidara:
Not actually a little. He just hasn’t gone through sh*t like the rest of the Akatsuki have, and has coping mechanisms for when he is having a bad time.
He caretakes for Konan when her boys aren’t around and for Sasori if he’ll let him.
Hidan told him about littles after Kakuzu regressed in front of him and thought Deidara might need to know because of how much baggage Sasori has (he doesn’t know what it is but he can smell drama)
So he looked out for Sasori becoming a kid and learned instead to look for him not acting like an adult. He walked out of Hiruko and tried to eat in front of him and Deidara had to tell him he couldn’t have a strawberry because it was bad for his health and not because it would probably make his insides mold. It’s weird but Deidara is also weird and he makes it work.
Kakuzu:
Little age is 9-10
Post Akatsuki the first time he regressed was in front of Hidan in the middle of the woods. He didn’t recognize him and immediately tried to run and then beat him up when he chased him. Hidan had to think fast and tell him he was his new neighbor and pretend to be taking him home. The next time he was babysitting.
Sometimes asks where his husband is. The first time Hidan heard this his response was ‘what the f*ck’ and Kakuzu told him that was a bad word.
Enjoyed activities include reading, sparring, and to the surprise of some, hunting. He’s not bad w/ a bow and arrow.
The best way to keep him in/make him feel comfy in littlespace is to make him a meal. U can let him help to the extent that he sets the table or pours the drinks or smth (because he will ask) but take care of the food for him, because he hasn’t had someone else handle that for him in a long time.
Regressing isn’t necessarily a common thing for him to do but he’s one of the only ones whose regression can be triggered by physical pain as well as emotional. He can usually harden his skin to block attacks but if he doesn’t in time he may turn into a ten year old. It actually can surprise an opponent enough for Hidan to be able to take them out.
Hidan:
Not a little either.
Knew about littles bc there was an old man in his village who had ptsd from some long forgotten war and sometimes turned into a six year old.
Caretakes for Kakuzu pretty exclusively, unless Kakuzu is big and taking care of someone else, in which case he’ll help out if he’s feeling nice at the time. Itachi is actually his favorite to take care of because Itachi is a very manageable child.
Obito:
Little age varies wildly from about 1-11. He blocks his physical regression because he regresses Often and doesn’t want to blow his Madara cover.
He has been regressing since p much immediately after he got crushed. Madara was really having none of it and went from patiently waiting for him to become ‘big’ again to pretending it wasn’t happening, forcing Obito back into a uh. ‘’Normal’’’’ headspace
The Tobi act is actually covering his littlespace though when he’s an adult he has no idea how to realistically act like a kid so when he’s actually a kid it’s kind of jarring for all involved
When he’s a baby he just screams. Not really crying in distress but screaming because he can
He’s so eager for attention. Please talk to him! Play toys with him!!! Read a book, eat dango, run around outside, catch bugs, train!!!
Never mentions Kakashi or Rin but sometimes will mention his grandma or Lord Fourth as if he is the current Hokage

Headcanon #03
The exact method of how he killed both the shinobi who killed his parents as well as the shinobi who attempted to harm and or kill Yahiko were never shown. And he certainly never wished to talk about it, especially the one that Yahiko was there to see. When the shinobi who killed his parents were killed, that was a truth lost even to him to this day, though he can make his guesses based on his memories and the powers he now knows he holds. Yahiko however, did see them in action against the shinobi who attacked them. This one in particular, was killed through the usage of Shinra Tensei. It was certainly no clean kill, by looks of the man’s body in a splattered pool of blood. What transpired in particular was a long and hard drop.
Flinging the man in utter rage into the air with Shinra Tensei, and smashing him down, and repeat that a few more times till he was dead with a horrible look on his face and blood pooled underneath him from the force. And this is why this same method could not have been used on the shinobi of Konoha who killed his parents. They looked rather cleanly killed in comparison. While Nagato may not recall, nor were there any witnesses to the killing, it was likely the removal of their very souls. Of the abilities the Rinnegan holds that is one of the cleanest ways to kill someone leaving not a drop of blood and the bodies to look the same as though they were simply knocked out.
Ironically, they received a kinder death than the man who tried to kill Yahiko. Likely due to the fact that Nagato had already experienced loss once before with his parents, and the idea of losing anyone else made the hatred and rage build up in him on a new level. A desperate level that led to that particular shinobi’s painful and rather slow death. One that Yahiko experienced and was something only known between the two of them. Though Nagato would have preferred to have never known the details back then. His hatred for that man made his lose control, but it was also the desperation for Yahiko to live and to protect where he could not before, even if everything from then was. Rather unfortunate for the man who went after seemingly helpless children.

A New Dream
It’s early morning as Konan stands on the outskirts of her home village. She’s been thinking lately about this village and about the message which Akatsuki is meant to send to the world. When Yahiko, Nagato and herself created this organization they were meant to be a symbol of hope for the people. Their presence was supposed to be a sign of peace and evoke feelings of comfort from all. They were meant to be symbol of hope.
That had been her childhood romance’s biggest dream; a dream which Konan had swore on her life to keep alive. Both her Nagato had sworn to do so, but had they really done so? The Paper Angel of Death stared up at the dark clouds that filled the morning sky. Rain poured down on her snow white skin as the smell of this rain filled her nostrils mixed with wet mud and leaves. Her eyes of amber closed for a moment and her mind went back to the days when Yahiko was still alive.
She could so clearly remember everything detail about him. His laugh when he made his carefree jokes. How that laugh had been one of the few things that to truly uplift her heart and inspire her on a spiritual level. She could recall his strong leadership and his gentle love for her. Konan also remembered the look of determination in his eyes when he spoke of not only their future, but the future the world. He had been so sure that he would stop this rain; that he would be the one to end his people’s suffering. And Konan in her young foolishness had believed his every word. When Yahiko knew that would not be the case he had entrusted the future to Nagato and Konan.
She would never forget how he had giving his life for this dream and ultimately for her survival. Konan would forever be in debit to the man she once loved with all heart. The man she still loved so dearly even so, she had to wonder what had their group really done? The tears of suffering still flowed and the proof of this covered her small frame now. She was becoming lost in thought when a voice screeched out her name.
“KONAN! DAMN IT! THERE YOU ARE! I CAN’T WORK WITH HIM A FUCKING SECOND LONGER!”
Hidan, the most difficult and easily loudest member was approaching her fast. He was in yet another of his moods. The Jashinist is the completely opposite of everything Konan is. He’s loud, impulsive and wear’s his emotions on the sleeve of his shirt for all to see. In many ways the female is jealous of Hidan. The others claim him to be an idiot, but he’s an idiot who is free of the cage social restrictions which most are bound to. He says and does what he wants, when he wants and damn the rest. Although she despises his disrespect towards Nagato and his often disgusting habits as well words she had to respect somebody who was so authentic in who they are. Now, she would never tell Hidan this. The man didn’t need his ego getting any lager than it already was and he would take it all the wrong way as was his habit. A faint smile came to Konan’s face for only a second before she became her usual emotionless self.
“YOU NEED TO TALK TO KAKUZU ABOUT HIS DISRESPECT BEFORE I KILL HIM! LIKE SERIOUSLY KILL HIM AND DO NOT GIVE ME THAT SHIT ABOUT HIM IMMORTAL! I WILL FIND A WAY AROUND IT! I SWEAR TO JASHIN SAMA I WILL!”
The silver haired male now stood only a few feet from the so called Paper Angel of Death. His eyes filled with a rage that was not uncommon for him and his pale body was shaking with emotion. Konan met this fearsome glare with without a hint of fear. At only five feet five she held herself with the confidence of ten foot women ready to rule the world.
“What has happened?”
Konan asked in a monotone voice already knowing Hidan was going to go off on another one of his pointless hour long rants. As much as she hated his almost daily rants she was very near thankful for the current one. It kept her from thinking too much more on the past. Doing that is a dangerous thing. It’s what often makes people become self destructive. Still, one thing was certain. This was far from the way Yahiko had envisioned their future and this wasn’t his idea of how the organization should look. But standing there listening to Hidan, Konan became reassured of one thing. She would create Yahiko’s future and she would do so by any means necessary. She would make the rain stop. The world would know peace even if she had to use men with dark intentions such as the one who stood before now.
For almost a half hour Konan stood in silence listening to every word the Jashinist shouted out though most happened to be some form of profanity. It’s almost impressive how he doesn’t stop to so much as take a breath as the rain starts to come down harder. Hidan finally stops talking for a second. Konan says nothing. She can see it in his face. He isn’t done yet and sure enough shouting more comes.
“AND THIS FUCKING RAIN! WHAT. THE. FUCK? CAN WE NOT MOVE OUT OF IT!?”
This part of his complaint is almost laughable. Absolutely nobody was forcing him to stand out here with her. She had come out here to be alone and think for awhile. Hidan could easily have stayed in the hideout out of the rain.
“Nobody told you to come out here, Hidan.”
Silver brows came together as a scowl formed on his face. His usual gelled back hair is currently stuck to the sides of his face weighed down by the rain. She’s right and he knows it. He shoves his hands into the cloak pockets with an unnecessary amount of force. Hidan can feel some of the pocket stitching tear. Good. He hopes it rips wide open. He hates the damn thing anyways. The Jashinist snorts and finally looked away from Konan. His own eyes now went to the sky.
“Oh fuck off. I came here because our oh so fearless leader isn’t around and I need somebody to step up to handle shit around here. You’re the only who ever does......”
Hidan muttered the last part under his breath even so Konan heard it perfectly. She would be lying to herself if she said this wasn’t a little shocking. Normally Hidan didn’t have much of anything positive to say about people. Occasionally he would say something sarcastically nice about Kakuzu, but everyone in the organization knew that was only done to push buttons. It was difficult to tell sometimes if Hidan and Kakuzu hated each other or if the things they said and did to one another was just the way teo psychopaths flirt. Konan and everyone else in the organization tried their best not to think too much on it. Sometimes it’s better not to know things. Besides, Konans was fairly certain at this point the two men didn’t even know the answer to it.
“I’ll speak with Kakuzu when I return to base. Was that all?”
Hidan let out a sigh that was a mix of annoyed and being out of energy. He ran his pale long fingers through his hair trying to slick it back again only to have it fall right back in his face. He really hated this damn rain.
“Not a damn thing.”
Finally Hidan turned and left. Konan could hear immortal muttering cuss words as he headed back to base or at least she assumed that was where he must be heading. With Hidan you never could be too sure. He was rather impulsive and it was all too possible if he wasn’t on a mission he would wander off to do one of his rituals instead of heading directly back to base. That was a troubling thought. His rituals always caused a scene. She should have warned him to head back to base, but then again if she had he might go off on his own just to prove a point about her not being the one who controls him.
She let out a soft sigh that was drowned out by the sound of rain. This wasn’t Yahiko’s vision of how peace was to be achieved. It wasn’t any of their childhood visions, but it was the hand they been dealt. Konan would find a way to use the cards of life to build the future she once dreamed of. The organization was still key to this and now it was time for to head back to base. It was time for her to nurse the organization and help it grow from something dark and sinister into something beautiful. She looked up at the sky and smiled softly. His....No, their dream would be realized. Closing her eyes Konan’s body became millions of pieces paper which quickly vanished from sight. It was as if she had never been there at all and one day the same would become of the tears of this village. Gone without a trace.

Note
what's your onion on the other akatsuki duos?
- konan and pein are very tragic with how they founded the akatsuki because of being orphans from a country destroyed in the crossfires of war wanting peace and that idea of peace became completely twisted and peins whole deal of being yahiko controlling nagatos body is completely fuckin wild. i really love konan shes one of my favorite characters in naruto in general and i wish kishimoto actually did his girl characters justice because she shouldnt have fucking died and deserved better. her whole moment of raising her arms up and the rainbow and the quote about being a pillar in the bridge of hope?? it kills me i love her
- hidan and kakuzu are so wild. to be fair all of the akatsuki are wild but these two are literally unkillable and kakuzu is a 90 yr old grandpa having to work with this 20 something year old who stabs himself for funsies. that entire dynamic is so fucking funny a grumpy grandpa and a deity of chaos on a non stop evil roadtrip
- kisame and itachi are very good because theyre the only actual team (not counting pein and konan bc theyre like the fuckin bosses and knew each other from childhood) that actually get along?????? kisame is just like well itachi its another day of going out into the world to capture tailed beasts and makes some joke about sharks and itachi sollemly nods and says some very vague short statement that somehow both relates to his tragic past and also the mission at hand. and then they just go get tea and dangos in konoha without even trying to conceal who they are. theyre just chill dudes who also sometimes are capable of absolute destruction
- zetsu kills me. i never truly appreciated zetsu as a naruto loving 14 year old. im studying plants now in college and i know better now. if i could be a plant man and just photosynthesize every day and have a venus flytrap for a head you bet your ass i would
- sasori and deidara...... are my favorites.. and i wont go into an essay long rant about them altho i could but their dynamic is so fucking funny deidara is this 19 year old living purely on adrenaline and chaos waxing poetry about the fleeting beauty of an explosion and sasori is the crankiest 5 foot 4 inches motherfucker sitting inside a huge puppet that looks like a turtle man while he himself is a 35 year old that looks like a teen. in the akatsuki novel sasori canonically responds to deidara running off from him to talk to someone by saying "you made me wait im going to kill you now". sasori sees lee wearing an akatsuki cloak and goes "obviously this is a new recruit to our organization and not anything shady going on im a genius" i love these dumbasses
- tobi and deidara are so fucking bizarre. tobi is actually obito, a 30 year old man who is putting on this facade of being some happy go lucky weirdo who somehow got into the akatsuki and is literally just doing all of his antics to fuck with deidara. and deidara has just shifted from being in the lower rank of his coworker group to being in charge of tobi after having sasori the ultimate grumpy bastard as a coworker since he was 17. why did this 30 year old decide that he was just gonna mess with this 19 year old non stop until he literally and actually exploded. deidara is so tired of this man non stop and is also just like What The Fuck Is Your Deal Who The Fuck Are You Really Bye Im Done at all times
anyway. thanks for coming to my akatsuki ted talk

I have a Naruto Fix-It(is that the term?) type thing I wanna work on, but I have no artistic talent, and I’m not super good at being articulate on the level that it is needed(even though I can write(like shit)). So, I’mma just put it here so I don’t eventually forget it like everything else. It’s quite long, so beware.
The premise is that there’s these two actual immortals that are brothers named Akiara and Akuma that have been around before Kaguya but after the beings that started the world. Akiara refers to Kaguya as a crazy woman that became obsessed with energy(chakra) and life, but decided energy was worth more.
Akiara and Akuma were tasked with basically documenting life forever and always by creatures that began the world. All Lands and main villages, unknowingly, set up where these creatures rule or lay dormant. Land of Fire has a creature that lives in Nara Forest and is a giant deer/tree creature, for example.
The brothers were also told to interfere with life as little as possible, but if things happened, they happened.
All was well before Akuma started to lose himself because everyone they knew, would die and they would just have to move on. He started to hate being immortal and went off, leaving Akiara to search for answers.
Akuma eventually came back after years(into the 100s) when he found out only an immortal can kill an immortal. His intent was to kill both him and his brother to ease their pain. Akiara was left with a scar on the left side of his face, neck and shoulder. And Akuma was trapped underground.
After their fight, Akiara kept away from the place he left his brother and continued to document the world, which included maps and the changes they had every 100 years or so.
Akiara saw the creation of the Tailed Beast. He treated them like they were pets and loved on them a lot. Especially Kurama(and he hasn’t forget the face squishing Akiara gave him). Though he’s devastated at how they were used, he just had to move on.
He saw all the wars. And the Fourth Great Ninja War, he spent napping in a cave because he assumed it would be handled and he really hates Kaguya. He actually woke up after the war had ended, Kakashi was Hokage, Naruto had his new arm and decided it was time to check on the Nara Creature . He then goes on an adventure around the world with the original nine genin and Sai on orders of Kakashi and agreements of Akiara.
Powers of Akiara and Akuma:
Both are basically made of chakra(energy), so when they are hurt, it heals almost instantly. A severed hand, will go back on. Blood will go back in.
They both can solidify chakra in their hands, or really anywhere. Akiara has a hilt of a sword that has a spike with holes in it so he can put it into his hand. The energy(chakra) from his body goes through the spike and he can form whatever weapon he wants, it’s usually just a sword with a small spike as a pommel.
Akuma doesn’t have to patience for the sword, so he lashes out with waves of either solidified chakra or the energy of it and messes up other people’s chakra.
Akiara has mastered energy(chakra) sensing, mainly as a way to keep track of Akuma, but also to find the Creatures around the world. He uses it sparingly though because when using it, it always grabs attention of strong ninja and they don’t like the amount of chakra he emits and attack. Both he and Akuma use the energy(chakra) they have to manipulate the elements, so they don’t have a limited Nature Transformation.
Akuma has become a very powerful genjutsu user. Akuma kills innocent people to ‘stop them from the pain of living and knowing’ and his genjutsu is powerful enough to erase the person’s existence. Even written documentation or photo evidence. He does this to protect the people he hasn’t killed(in his mind, saved) from knowing their friend or family has died.
Both of them are unaffected by genjutsus of any kind. Including Sharingan induced ones.
They both have this ability, Akuma stopped using it, but Akiara has scrolls and scrolls of maps of the world. He seals the scrolls with his blood(that’s mixed with chakra/energy) and it tracks what he sees and it’s created from the sight.
Not a power or ability, but Akiara sleeps for years at a time because of boredom or not wanting to be involved with things. Akuma will do the same if his insanity because too much for him.
The Creatures of the World:
The Creatures or Beings are the ones that created the world. The land, water, life, air, all of it. They reside in every country and usually a main village or near it. The reason people flock to those places is because of the subconsciousness of The Creatures pulling them close.
When Akiara seeks them out, he lets them see what has happened in the world. Anyone that has set foot on the land of that Creature, Akiara lets them see their entire life. Akiara(and Akuma) are the things that tie the Creatures to each other and humans, that’s the reason they need them.
While sharing the information and memories of everyone, a dome forms over a wide area around them. Anyone caught in the dome will also see the lives of everyone Akiara is sharing. But time flows weird in the dome and it’s not visible from the outside.
The time flow in the dome is, everything stops existing for a short time as the memories and information is shared. While everything outside continues, but extremely slowly, though it goes unnoticed. When the dome is down, time and life continues as it should.
Land of Fire’s Creature is a giant deer/tree like being that lives in the Nara Clan Forest. When Akiara is searching for them, they like messing with him by jumping through trees(not exactly physically, but they’ll move trees). Basically playing hide and seek with Akiara.
Land of Wind’s Creature is a giant sea turtle that swims through the sands. The Land of Winds started out with plenty of rain and water, but humans had caused it to dry up. The Creature couldn’t follow the water, so they now swim in the sands. They live in the Demon Desert primarily, but they’ll swim where they wants. They try to out swim Akiara when he comes looking for them. Basically playing tag.
Land of Lighting’s Creature is a giant albino tiger that jumps through the lighting storms that plague the country. Though he lazes about in the Valley of Clouds and Lighting at the tops of the mountains a lot. His stripes look similar to lighting strikes. When Akiara comes looking for him, he creates very harsh thunderstorms for Akiara to travel through for fun. It’s up to Akiara to figure out the pattern of the lighting strikes to get through. Basically a harsh game of hopscotch.
Land of Sound’s Creature is a giant glasswing butterfly that blends in with the paddy fields that is all over the land. The glasswings of the Creature looks like paddy fields, so it’s not that hard for them to blend in. Their wings when revealed glow with energy(chakra). While Orochimaru had their evil control of the land The Creature actually felt for them since Orochimaru was always changing who they were, as a butterfly does. And the Creature believed Orochimaru would eventually become beautiful(or good). Akiara works the paddy fields for the Creature to show itself. The Creature wants Akiara to feel normal for just a little while.
Land of Earth’s Creature is a giant gorilla/stone that lives in the rocky mountain range that borders the country. The Creature doesn’t mind being seen, though not many people can manage the mountains to find her. When Akiara comes to find her, she makes him fight her. They can’t do much damage to each other and she says it’s a test. But the Creature just misses people and wants the moment to last as long as possible.
Land of Iron’s Creature is actually a giant lion/ice being that wanders around the land. He’s pretty solitary, but when shinobi do enter the land, he’ll go move closer to the samurai’s to protect them. He doesn’t trust shinobi, the same as the samurai. The snow masks his presences even if he’s standing over the samurai. When Akiara comes looking for him, he’ll meet him close to the edge. Even though Akiara is necessary and apart(and made by) the Creature, he still doesn’t trust Akiara not to attack the samurai.
Land of Snow’s Creature is a giant polar bear that keeps life flowing through the land through it’s heat. It fire and heat in it’s core and it’s the reason people are still alive in the cold temperature. It lives in the mountains, close to Yukigakure, to make sure they stay warm enough and alive. It stays in the mountain cave when Akiara is looking for it because it wants to make sure the people will stay warm.
Land of Water’s Creature is a giant sea serpent that swims around the islands that make up the country. She becomes extreme agitated when there’s war going on in her land, which happens often in the Land of Water. She’s the only Creature to actively influence the people that live in the land. If her people were going to war, they will war. She caused the people to commit the purges of those with kekkei genkai. Her anger wasn’t aimed at them, but the people reacted to her anger that way. She makes Akiara through each island and help her people in anyway until she’ll appear before him.
Amegakure’s Creature is a giant three-eyed cat that lives at the bottom of the lake surrounding the village. They sleep often, as cats do, but their third eye is always open to keep watch. The wars that tore their country apart and the civil war is the reason they live at the bottom of the lake. The Creature’s people wouldn’t stop fighting, and neither would the people around them, so they hid. They had interest in Yahiko, Konan and Nagato until Yahiko’s death. They don’t like to see Akiara because he shares the knowledge of the world being terrible, but the small amount of good memories share is the reason they’ll go to Akiara when he’s nearby.
Takigakure’s Creature is a giant snake that lives in the branches of the tree that Takigakure is build around. The Creature accidentally involves itself with the people with it’s venom. Their venom is mixed into the tree, making the air of the village tainted, but nonlethal. Instead, the venom infects the people with immense power and chakra(energy), which causes the village to have very strong shinobi. The Creature is one of the hardest to get to for Akiara because of Takigakure’s volatile nature, so the Creature often reaches out as a branch to help Akiara to get to them.
Yugakure’s Creature is a giant poison dart frog that swims through the hot springs that is all around the country. They were actually the cause of the Chinoike Clan existence. The eyes and the ability to affect blood(actually iron) are from them. This Creature is also accidentally involved with their land. Causing Chinoike Clan directly because of The Valley of Hell(it’s poison) and the creation of Hidan’s immortality. The poison from the Creature caused random bouts of anger and instability of the people of Yugakure(again, Chinoike Clan) that led them to rituals, experiments and sacrifice when Yugakure was still military led. The Creature’s poison no longer affects the people after The Valley of Hell was forbidden, so the country is safe for tourist and villagers. Akiara gets to relax in the hot springs when looking for The Creature, much to the Creature’s enjoyment.
The Adventure and the Original Nine(&Sai):
Naruto, Sasuke, Kiba, Shikamaru, Sakura, Sai and Hinata all sense Akiara when he uses his energy(chakra) sense to find The Creature in Nara Clan Forest. They all go to him because of the extremely high levels of the chakra, led by Hinata who can see a trail that was somehow left behind.
They all get caught in the dome after Akiara explained as best he could at what’s happening. It helped he didn’t try to attack, even with being attacked. They all saw everyone’s lives, including secrets that they kept close to themselves.
After a few minutes of shouting and fighting between everyone except Akiara and The Creature, The Creature thanks Shikamaru and his family for protecting their forest and gives him a power as a even more of a thanks. It leaves a mark of antlers on Shikamaru’s forehead, that fades away. It’s up to Shikamaru to figure out what it is. The Creature tells them that Kakuzu was brought back to life and Hidan was put back together, because they had something to do.
But after this, they go see Kakashi to explain, or try to explain what’s happening. This is the first time this level of care has been given to Akiara while being questioned, so he just goes with it.
After a clearer explanation, Kakashi asks if it’s okay if he sends people with Akiara to watch over and also try to keep more secrets to the people themselves. After seeing the list of people Kakashi approves of going, Akiara wants to take them all, for them, and for the possibility that The Creature wouldn’t mind seeing more people. And possibly their human counterparts.
They meet Yamato along the way and he travels with them to see the Creatures.
The Creatures and the Human Counterparts(No explanation being told for now):
Land of Fire’s Creature and Shikamaru Nara. Land of Wind’s Creature and Choji Akimichi. Land of Lightning’s Creature and Naruto Uzumaki. Land of Sound’s Creature and Shino Aburame. Land of Earth’s Creature and Sakura Haruno. Land of Iron’s Creature and Sasuke Uchiha. Land of Snow’s Creature and Kiba Inuzuka. Land of Water’s Creature and Ino Yamanaka Amegakure’s Creature and Hinata Hyuga. Takigakure’s Creature and Sai. Yugakure’s Creature and Yamato.

Under the Mistletoe with the Akatsuki // Part Nine // Pein (Nagato)
Leader. Never in a million years did Nagato Uzumaki believe he had it in him for be a leader, and especially not one of a group of S-ranked criminals like the ones that comprised his Akatsuki. But perhaps he really wasn’t; after all, save for Konan, none of them had even met him before. All they knew about him was Pein, the body that he animated and controlled through his chakra. Yet despite all he and his group have accomplished, the nagging feeling never leaves him ... that Yahiko would have done a much better job than Nagato. It’s one of the main reasons that Nagato fashioned his main Pein-body after his old friend; to try and infuse some of Yahiko’s wisdom and charisma into his own leadership style. One of the things Yahiko often stressed was the importance of having people around you that you could trust, and depend on. In short - friends. Aside from Konan, Nagato doesn’t truly consider anyone in this organization to be his ‘friend’ ... rather, he’s come to think of the group as a whole of being his family. And apparently families played games with each other, hence why he (as Pein) agrees to this mistletoe game now.
Kisame
“Good evening, Leader.” Kisame was by far one of the more desirable members that Nagato had strived to bring into his group. Mature, experienced with battle and ninjutsu, and one of the fabled Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. In any given situation, in any conflict between members of the group, Kisame will most often be the voice of reason. Nagato chose to pair him with the young but mature beyond his years Itachi, believing they’d have much to learn from one another, and he was correct. Out of all the duos, theirs was probably the most stable (and certainly the least problematic). Despite being both tall and intimidating, the half-shark had a surprisingly gentle, almost shy nature to him when one caught him in a one on one situation, as was the case now. Kisame walks up to Pein but seems unable to take the initiative, so Pein does so himself. He puts one hand on Kisame’s shoulder, leans up slightly, and kisses his cheek. Kisame blushes and grins, before going back to his room for the evening.
Sasori
Unbeknownst to the others, aside from Konan, Sasori is the only member of the Akatsuki that knows that Pein isn’t who (or what) he presents himself to be. After all, spending years hidden inside a puppet body gave one a little leeway into seeing into (or perhaps seeing past) others’ true selves. But Sasori understands Nagato’s need to conceal his real body; in fact, he’s even helped him a few times. He’s travelled with Konan before to meet the actual Nagato, when the latter came down with an illness that Konan wasn’t sure how to treat. Sasori used his extensive knowledge of medical procedures to help Nagato, and since then, the two had become good friends. He also gave him valuable advice (again from his own experience of using chakra to control multiple puppets at once) to Nagato in how to more effectively maneuver his Six Paths of Pein bodies during battle, even helping Nagato to tweak them to better control their movements. Sasori shows Nagato (and ultimately, Pein) the same respect that he would a fellow master puppeteer. He approaches Pein now, in his own body. Pein leans down and kisses his cheek, and the two nod at each other before Sasori returns to his own room.
Itachi
“He murdered his entire clan in one evening.” “Are you sure?” “Well, all but his younger brother. But I’m sure if he ever got the chance —“ Nagato still remembers the conversation he had with Konan, the day before they brought Itachi into the Akatsuki. Nagato had been against it at first, believing that one who could commit such callous atrocities against his own clan and family would no doubt have trouble turning against a group of people that were strangers to him. But Itachi pleasantly surprised Nagato, with how calm, and quiet, and kind he was. He often forgets how young Itachi is, considering he speaks and acts like a man decades older. But still ... there was a sadness that could be felt whenever Itachi was in the room, tangible even to someone who’s “real” body was quite far away, like Nagato’s was. When Itachi comes to him, the Pein body reaches out and pulls the boy into a hug. Itachi seems surprised, but whether out of respect to the leader or because he truly needed it, he lets the embrace happen. The two stand there for longer than seems feasible, until Pein breaks it by gently kissing Itachi’s forehead. Itachi steps back, gives Pein a smile (which turns back the clock even more and makes Itachi seem like a child) and goes back to his room.
Deidara
Nagato felt real, valid concern when bringing the 15 year old Deidara into his group. Besides being the youngest, besides having that volatile temper and wanton pleasure in causing chaos and destruction ... the kid was beautiful. An odd word for a male, perhaps, but it was the most fitting term for him. In the Akatsuki it was more or less made clear that Konan was off-limits in terms of things like that, but Deidara ... with his long silky hair, big blue eyes, soft skin ... what was to stop one (or possibly ALL) of these older (and likely stronger) members from attempting to — but Nagato was lucky, in that everyone exhibited more self-control than he gave them credit for. And pairing him first with the older Sasori and then with the wily Tobi had seemed to be good choices, as well. One taught him maturity, and the other, patience. Although sometimes — “Oi, Leader ... can you talk to Kakuzu for me?” “For what?” “He won’t let me have an advance on my pay, because he says I’m just going to waste it on ‘my stupid clay’, hm!” “I do not interfere with the financial decisions of my treasurer, Deidara.” “But —“ Pein kisses his forehead and says, quietly, “Learn to exercise restraint when it comes to your artistic endeavors, Deidara.” Deidara grumbles as he walks away, and Pein smiles and shakes his head as he watches him go.
Kakuzu
“Pein. No matter what Deidara said to you, you won’t convince me to give him an advance on his pay. That boy is already three weeks into his money, and our budget simply won’t allow —“ “Do not fear, Kakuzu. I don’t intend to step on your toes regarding our finances.” Never in Nagato’s life has he met anybody quite so concerned with money as Kakuzu. He was strict not only with his own money, but every other member’s, as well. While Nagato found this to be a character flaw at first, now, he saw Kakuzu’s thriftiness and frugal tendencies as being a God-send. It was only because of him that they were able to move from hideout to hideout, to put food on the table, to buy clothes and weapons and any number of things that the group needed to survive. But his finance-savvy ways weren’t even the most impressive thing about him; it was the fact that he dealt with Hidan, day in and day out, and had not been driven to madness. The older man walks up to Pein now, lowers his mask, and delivers a light kiss to the cheek. Pein nods and watches as he leaves, noting, as he often did, his cold Kakuzu’s skin is. Nagato can feel it through Pein’s sensors; standing close to Kakuzu is much like standing in front of an open grave. He often felt that he should suggest redesigning Kakuzu’s Akatsuki robe to make it warmer, but Nagato knows that this suggestion would be rapidly rejected.
Zetsu
On the day that it is Pein’s turn under the mistletoe, Zetsu is nowhere to be found. Nagato knows where he is, of course; traveling through the earth at the speed of sound, going to scout out an enemy territory before the Akatsuki makes a move on it. Zetsu and his infiltration skills have helped Nagato countless times in the past, providing valuable intel on targets and mapping out the most problem-free routes for the rest of the group to take on missions. Still, though; there’s something about the plant-man that gave Nagato the slighter touch of unease. Being near Zetsu, even through the barrier of Pein, gave Nagato the feeling of being inches away from a wild animal. Hearing him speak was like listening to a dog that suddenly begins speaking in a human tongue. Nagato is very glad that Pein does not have to kiss this individual, and in fact hopes that his turn will end before Zetsu makes his inevitable return.
Tobi
Tobi, Tobi, Tobi ... such a confusing young man. Such a surprising young man. Many months ago, the Pein-body walked into Tobi’s room to retrieve him for something, and happened to catch him sleeping. Nagato was curious and made his artificial body approach the side of the bed that Tobi’s face was on ... but all Nagato was met with was darkness. A solid, blurred-out black where the boy’s face should have been. Nagato thought that perhaps something was malfunctioning in the Pein body’s ocular region ... but everything else was clear as a bell. Did Tobi have some kind of exterior defense mechanism set into place that would bar Pein, specifically Pein, from seeing his actual face? And if that was the case, then WHY? What exactly was he hiding?? It made Nagato nervous, but he never let this on to Tobi. “Pein-sama, Pein-sama! Is it Tobi’s turn for a kissy?!” Pein nods and Tobi approaches him, slides his mask halfway off ... and again all Pein can make out is blackness. He can feel his cheek being kissed, but his vision doesn’t return to 100% until Tobi’s mask is fully back in place. “Thanks, Pein-sama!”, Tobi says; and is it Nagato’s imagination or is there a touch of smugness to his voice? Well, regardless, the kid is leaving, and a Nagato can put him out of his mind once more.
Hidan
“I’ve had to kiss every single one of you fucks, including the old geezer and the orange idiot. Now I’ve gotta slobber with the boss too?? What’s next; are we are jumping into bed and having a group fuck?!” Nagato hadn’t rolled his eyes in many years (and rolling Pein’s eyes would have been an unbecoming gesture for a leader), but hearing Hidan speak always made Nagato want to break this self-imposed rule. With his additional bodies, his Rinnegan, his seemingly unlimited chakra and his fabled Uzumaki clan endurance, Nagato considers himself to be an earthbound God. But then this kid, this foul-mouthed violent crusader, comes into the group speaking about HIS God, Lord Jashin, and flaunting his (admittedly enviable) gift of immortality. From the very beginning, Hidan made it clear that offering sacrifices to his God was his main priority; and the kid wasn’t lying. It’s always been Pein’s (Nagato’s) mandate that as long as one completed their assigned mission, then they would be free to do as the my liked in their spare time. But Hidan’s preferred “hobby” left even someone as war-weary and hardened as Nagato feeling a bit queasy, in the pit of his stomach. “Come, Hidan.” Hidan visibly balks at being given an order; but he’s never love hesitated to obey the Leader. He goes to Pein and, after Pein studies his face, receives a kiss on the nose. The gesture is so light and whimsical that it leaves Hidan blushing and flustered, as evidenced by his leaving without uttering a single swear word.
Konan
The kiss between Konan and Pein is ... disappointingly short. Surprising, considering how close the two of them are, and how much Pein seems to care about her. But it’s a very quick forehead peck, and then both Pein and Konan retire to their rooms. The Pein-body shuts down in his own room, but Konan is getting dressed. It’s a somewhat lengthy journey, especially for this time of night, but one Konan is very familiar with. She comes every single day, after all, after everyone else is asleep or preoccupied for the evening. The old cave is so far into the woods, and from the outside seems abandoned, but ... “Nagato? I’m here.” Nagato turns his head and, although he’s happy to see her, can’t help but sigh. “You’re soaking wet.” Konan uses her cloak to wipe her face, telling him it’s not a big deal, just a little drizzle outside... but it is to Nagato. Trapped like this, a prisoner of his body and his hatred and pain ... anybody else would have walked out and left him years ago. But Konan, no matter what, she stayed by his side, and showed him more caring and comfort than Nagato felt he deserved. “I brought you some beef and curry rice tonight,” Konan said, now uncovering a small bowl. “It’s still warm.” She moves into position to feed him, and as she does, she quietly tells him little tidbits about her day. It’s solely through Konan that Nagato has any sense of the outside world at all, or any REAL idea about what the members of the Akatsuki are actually like. And he’s grateful to her. He’s grateful to her for so many — “Konan?” She looks up from where she’d been tidying up. “Yes?” “I’m so sorry.” She stops and looks at him, head tilted. “Sorry? What are you sorry about?” “I’m sorry that you’re not married, I’m sorry that you don’t have children, or a family, I’m sorry that you go from hideout to hideout and village to village and all you see is the same pain we saw when we were kids. And I’m sorry that things are only this way because of me. I couldn’t save Yahiko, and I’m destroying you, and any chance at happiness you could have had. I never meant for things to be this way. I’m —“ but Konan’s arms are around him before he can finish his sentence. “You’re a goddamn idiot,” she mumbles, her voice slightly shaky. “Yahiko dying wasn’t your fault, and my life — my life is full, and despite what you may believe, I’m happy, Nagato. This Akatsuki you’ve created; you’ve done two things. You’re fulfilling Yahiko’s dream, and you’ve given me, US, a family. So stop with this nonsense, okay?” “But I —“, and Konan interrupts him again, this time with a soft kiss on the cheek. Her lips breathe warmth and comfort into his chilled skin. “You’re the most important person on this earth to me, and I love you,” she murmurs as she pulls away, a smile on her face. “But I swear if you don’t cheer up, you’re not getting any of this dessert I made.” A pause, and then, with a smirk reminiscent of the shy boy he once was, “I’ll only cheer up if it’s something I like.” “Strawberry pie.” Nagato gives Konan an even bigger smile, to which she replies “That’s better”; and the two laugh. He feels like a weight has been lifted off of his heart. After dessert, he tries to mentally prepare himself for her leaving again ...but to his surprise she pulls a blanket from her satchel spreading it out neatly along the ground. “You’re staying tonight?” “I’m staying.” “Good. I love you, too, by the way.” “I know.” Before bed she spends a good deal of time gently brushing out his hair, telling him jokes and stories, the same that she used to do with him and Yahiko when they were all children, during those many long, cold nights when hunger or anxiety kept them awake. Neither is present now, but the goodness of the feeling remains the same. After awhile they both fall asleep, and for once their dreams are calm and peaceful.

We shall now discuss the time where the show began at its climax. With the reveal of the Akatsuki’s leader, Pain, people were naturally super hyped and enjoyed his appearance in the anime. Pain is seen as a male with orange fiery hair with piercings all over his face and body. The most distinguishable feature of this character's appearance is the purple ripple pattern in his eyes. It was later explained during his fight with Jiraiya, that those eyes are known as the legendary Rinnegan, a visual prowess that was originally owned by the Sage of six paths. He rules over the Village Hidden in the Rain as its ruler after defeating the original leader, Hanzo the Salamander. Jiraiya was sent to gain any valuable intel on Pain but was in awe to see that the village he saw in rubble during the third great ninja war, remained the same. He was later spotted by Pain when around the village because he controls the rain that falls, sensing everyone's whereabouts and actions using the rain. As Jiraiya was walking around, many people referred to him as” Lord Pain”. This made him curious and infiltrated the largest tower in the village, where it is said Pain resides. As he meets both Pain and Konan, he realizes they use to be students of his that have lost their way and believe that peace can only be managed by the fear of losing others or war. He was attacked by Pain as Konan kept watch over the village. It was revealed that the body structure and hair of pain resembled one of his students that trained alongside Pain and Konan. Pain's real name was revealed to be Nagato and the body and hair resembling a student was Yahiko. Pain said that Yahiko died and that he's using his body to continue his dream of world peace. A peace required by the destruction of the world and sharing the pain of losing those you love. A battle between Pain and Jiraiya erupts. Pain reveals that there are 6 Pains, each using a specialty Jutsu. And also that Pain's real name is Nagato, a friend, and comrade of both Yahiko and Konan. There are a total of 6 Pains, as he refers them to, The Six Paths of Pain. They immediately begin to gang up on Jiraiya and the fight is on. For the sake of the Hidden Leaf and the Hidden Rain.

Portal to the Afterlife
Hidan looked at himself in the mirror, making sure everything was the same. He had been feeling different lately, and he had no clue why. Everyday at the same exact time, he found himself looking into the mirror. Fear always tried to overwhelm him as he tried to notice slight differences. Nothing was ever out of place, until now.
The mirror seemed to be a little off with where everything was. Hidan put his hand to the cold glass, noticing how the reflection was a few centimeters to the right. How strange. He felt fear course through his veins as the reflection started to move and fade. Soon, the mirror was no longer a mirror reflecting the bathroom around him. Instead, it showed a warm colored and cloudy place with a blue creature staring back at him. Hidan took note of how the creature seemed to be lynx-like and made of chakra.
"I've been watching you, Hidan." The chakra monster spoke, "You're a follower of Jashin, and I believe you'll be able to help me."
"Help you, haha why would I help you?" Hidan laughed out a laugh coated in fear.
"Hidan, Hidan, Hidan..." The monster tsked, "I could relay a message to a good friend of mine if you get me out."
"I don't need a message relayed to anyone from a creature like you."
"Oh? Even if that good friend of mine is your dear god?" Hidan froze, staring blankly at the monster in the mirror.
"H-how..." He choked on his words, the monster giving a terrifying grin.
"Well, Jashin is more of a father than friend, just like other gods. If the message comes from me, then he'd have to fully believe it."
Hidan stood in thought, growing anxious as he realized Kakuzu will be looking for him soon. Do I help this weird chakra beast? If I do, what will they tell Lord Jashin? What if helping them means betraying Lord Jashin? I don't even know this thing's name if it even has one.
Hidan sighed, defeated by his thoughts. He mumbled to himself before looking the monster in its eyes.
"I've decided that I will help you."
"How delightful. I'll give you a plan and you will follow it exactly."
"Tell me the plan, you strange monster."
The chakra monster told Hidan the plan in such detail that Hidan could physically see what would happen. It felt as if the plan was burned into his brain and nervous system.
"Hidan, just one thing before I fade away." The monster spoke softly, "To show the village leader you're trustworthy, tell her Kamishi sent you. She'll put all the trust she has into you after that."
"So, you're name is--" Kamishi cut Hidan off.
"Never say the name until you're permitted."
Hidan nodded, and Kamishi faded away. The mirror's reflection returned, and Hidan left the bathroom. Kakuzu was leaning on the wall across from the door. Hidan sent him a smile, receiving only a glare.
"Took you long enough, what were you doing, touching yourself?"
"Why, want to go a round?" Hidan flirted, only to make Kakuzu forget the question.
"Keep flirting like that and you'll end up tied to a bed and left there to starve"
"You're no fun."
"Shut up already, Yahiko and Nagato are sending us to get more fire wood."
------
Today's the day, I'm stopping a vault from closing. I just need to wait for my body to move itself. Hidan had followed Kamishi's plan perfectly so far, having already collected the villagers he was told to get. What Kamishi had said weeks ago was that the vault kept him trapped inside. Hidan closed his eyes to remember what Kamishi called it exactly.
"Where I am is locked in a vault. This vault is no regular vault, however. It's the portal to the Afterlife. I didn't die, instead that Kumoko fool sealed me with her Star Seal Jutsu. I was sealed inside Taurus, which when the constellation is over the vault is when this plan takes place."
Reopening his eyes, Hidan looked at the slowly opening vault. In the dark sky, the taurus constellation took shape. A bull formed around the stars, moving gracefully as the vault locked open. A lady in a mask stood on top a tall needle-like tower, hair blowing in the calm breeze.
The nerves in Hidan's body began tingling. The time was now, Kamishi was on the move in the Afterlife, running at the speed of sound in order to escape. Hidan placed his hands together as if he were praying, but instead he was focusing his chakra to them.
The vault began to close, faster than it opened. One of the villagers Hidan was told to bring sprung into action. She weaved signs so fast, springing from a tree she stood in. Placing her hand on the ground as soon as she hit, the ground vigorously shook. The ones closing the vault fell to the ground, chakra draining from the tubes on the doors. Just as Kamishi planned.
The battle to prevent the vault from closing began, though Hidan had a bigger job to do rather than fight. He had to make sure Kamishi could find the small group.
The battle raged on for three minutes before the familiar blue chakra monster emerged. Kamishi bolted to Hidan, sliding to a stop next to him.
"I'd relay the message now, but we have more to do!" Kamishi connected Hidan's chakra to their own, "Now, we must run to the village!"
It's as if Hidan's body was that of one of Sasori's puppets. He was being controlled by Kamishi, but there were no threads of chakra attached to him. The group followed swiftly behind them, as if they were also controlled. The movements of the group were much different than Hidan's, like they struggled to keep up. They ran through a thick forest until they lost those who were tracking them. As if it had happened before, Kamishi and the group used nearby trees to turn in the direction of the village.
Hidan wasn't going to lie, what he just witnessed impressed him. He wondered how they all knew what to do and which way to turn. It was obvious they weren't being controlled, so he wondered how they perfectly timed the turn to match Kamishi's speed.
An abrupt stop confused Hidan. They were a few kilometers from the village, the leader's tower stood just above the small hill. Kamishi looked at the group of villagers and gave a slight nod.
"You know what to do, each of you find me a good one from each village, I will choose which I like next time." Nodding, the villagers continued to the village.
"I thought you said we'd head to the village and separate from there." Hidan said, trying to hide the annoyance in his voice.
"I changed my mind, I will relay your message here. However, you are to take me back to your home with you. You have a potential that would help me a lot."
Hidan thought for a moment then agreed to the new end of the plan. He started thinking of what he thought was important to tell Jashin, he didn't want to seem like a nuisance after all.
-------
Hidan returned to the house with his new "pet". On the way, he and Kamishi arranged that Kamishi would be his new pet chakra parasite. It worked well, since in the past chakra parasites, like Kamishi, were kept as pets by medical ninja.
Kamishi scratched up every door to each bedroom. He, Kamishi, wanted to remember who had what door. He would ask Hidan which person slept in which room, then would carve out their name in a language foreign to them all--cat. A strange creature he was, keeping track of everyone's bedroom.
Hidan was sitting on his bed with Kamishi next to him. He was covered in scratches after wanting to know what they felt like. A fast knock was heard against the door, but before Hidan could do anything, the door had already opened. It was Kakuzu, shooting a glare at the parasite on the bed.
"You have three seconds to explain why there is a creature in this house before I rip your heart out."
"Well," Hidan started, "this is Kamishi, he's a chakra parasite and my new pet."
"Chakra parasites are extinct, the last one died out years ago."
"Close the door and sit beside me, I'm going to tell you a story."
Kakuzu complied and Hidan began retelling what had happened since the first feeling of Kamishi's presence.

TBH I think Orochimaru's obsession with developing and discovering new jutsu is just a byproduct of his desire for immortality at any cost, and that his views of self-serving immortality was a gradual logical conclusion for him than an innate one.
Early Years
He was orphaned as a child and showed a desire to see his parents again. Hiruzen commented that the shed snake skin on his parents' graves is a symbol of rebirth and rejuvenation, and so Orochimaru naturally took that to heart and it became a motif of his fighting style and abilities. He grew up to see Jiraiya, despite being a fool, as a comrade, and he greatly respected Tsunade's chakra control and spirited nature (Orochimaru is far from a misogynist in any respect) as well as her ability to put Jiraiya in his place when he got too goofy. Orochimaru took Tsunade's little brother Nawaki under his wing, or at least doted on him as a friend of the Senju family or like an uncle. He was his sensei, so at least in an official capacity he had responsibilities toward him, responsibilities that were not inherently self-serving. And so he had at least four people (Hiruzen included) upon which he could say he was close to.
Nawaki's Death
While Orochimaru was a quietly confident, reserved, and cagey individual in his early years, Nawaki's horrible death shook him as much as it did Tsunade. For the first time since the death of his parents, he felt an emptiness and sorrow that he was unable to properly fix the source of. He was powerless to reverse death then as a child as he was in that moment while watching Tsunade sob uncontrollably over her little brother's body. He was not one for tears, he was not one to feel despair in the capacity that everyone around him seemed freely able to do, but in his own way he felt it. The fragility of life, the ease in which people can pass away, and the finality of mortality -- pointless, it was pointless. And so his heart hardened more that day.
Dan's Death and Tsunade
Upon Tsunade's second tragedy with the death of her lover Dan (during the Second Shinobi World War), I feel like Orochimaru had by then developed his views to the point that love was not enough to shield people from their ultimate expendability in life. Tsunade loved Nawaki fiercely, and he died. Tsunade loved Dan fiercely, and he died. Orochimaru was orphaned at a very young age but he doesn't recall hating his parents, and they were dead.
He admired Tsunade's concurrent crusade to train medical nin and place them in team cells so as to significantly lower the mortality rate during missions--now pushed even more fiercely after Dan's death, but deep down inside he knew it was staving off the inevitable. Still, he did not find her contemptible for such efforts because they were driven by logic and strategy as well as passion.
Ame Orphans
Another thought: Before the Sannin split up to do their own thing (Jiraiya to travel; Tsunade to train medic nin, at least initially; Orochimaru to work with Danzo, I guess), the Sannin met Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato in the Rain village, again during the Second War. Orochimaru's first instinct was to kill them, but the line delivery of his suggestion was not one of malice or sadism but pity, and not even a mocking pity. The war with Hanzo and the destruction that they the Sannin had caused was not unknown to Orochimaru since he had a huge part in it, nor did he feel guilt about it, per se. He was realistic about it, just as he was realistic in claiming that the trio of kids would likely suffer from starvation and disease before dying cold and alone in some burned-down house. This was a very accurate assessment of the situation before Jiraiya intervened and decided to train them for a spell. This was perhaps one of the final times that Orochimaru displayed genuine sentiment at the thought of death as a form of personal loss and suffering rather than the individual as a unit/pawn that can be cultivated, manipulated, and ultimately broken or discarded when it can no longer be used.
Sakumo Hatake and Disaffection with the Leaf
While Tsunade has clearly shown that tragedy and death do not necessarily break an individual, shinobi are successful partly because that is one of their most enduring rules -- no emotion, get the mission done. This is just conjecture, but it is unlikely that Orochimaru had not at least had a passing conversation with Sakumo Hatake, given how much renown he accumulated as the “White Fang of Konoha” during the Second War, and the news of his suicide after being branded a disgrace for choosing to put the lives of his team over the success of the mission may have further solidified Orochimaru’s growing conviction that people fear death so much that they are willing to act irrationally and forego what is logically most beneficial for the group because death’s severing of peoples’ close bonds is more detrimental and dangerous than the potential for failure.
And even though Sakumo succeeded in preventing the deaths of his comrades, his very human decision--a decision he was able to pull off because he was strong enough and capable enough to do so, an ability that Orochimaru did not possess in the moment when Nawaki died, an ability Tsunade did not possess when Dan died in her arms--still led to his death by his own hand. Tragic irony by this point was only becoming somewhat comical to Orochimaru, something that you can't help but laugh at because it is so ridiculous and yet the people around him are so blind. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch that this scandal, if Orochimaru had paid attention to it at all, wouldn’t have furthered his graudal dissatisfaction and contempt of the Leaf for their circumstantial and hypocritical war time politics. Orochimaru always operated in shades of gray, but the Leaf's inability to reconcile the psychological anchors of their soldiers with the requirements of a shinobi must have read to him as being foolish and wasteful and a futile attempt at denying human beings' true nature, a nature that he himself had begun to gradually shed over the years.
Little Side Note of Orochimaru's Ability to Connect with Others
To say "camaraderie" and "friendship" would sound too Shonen, because Orochimaru did not grow up without enjoying the company of his sensei and teammates, but he was someone who either had the willpower to cut those ties and find satisfaction in his own company (like how some people just prefer to be alone and never report feeling 'lonely'), and thus psychically fulfilled with his own person (arguably, like Sasori, or Kakuzu to a certain extent) or he was born with something that allowed him to form bonds with others but those bonds were separate from his Self. He could live and thrive without them, sever them if he had to when he pleased if they furthered his own goals. Opportunistic and self-sufficient, independent but not the point of being incapable of working in tandem with others. Mentally, he was more than versatile and can not be be placed squarely in either the "Does Not Play Nice With Others" or "A True Team Player" boxes. Whatever is best for the situation and the long run is good enough for him, and he is not someone who does not clutch his chest in pain when his actions unintentionally benefit another, unless that benefit interferes with his own net gain.
Tanzaku Town and the Offer of Resurrection
When Orochimaru and Tsunade finally met again in Tanzaku, I honestly don't think that Orochimaru was kidding when he said he would resurrect Tsunade's loved ones in exchange for her healing his arms. He had been working on this technique for a long-ass time, upgrading it from Tobirama's original jutsu, and he was more than willing to show it off and give her a taste of it in return for her services. This here is where Orochimaru's demented way of thinking seems to reveal itself most clearly, though: For Orochimaru, the most powerful driving force that can encourage or break someone is grief and love. He saw how Dan and Nawaki's deaths ruined Tsunade for a time and changed her to the point that she developed a severe phobia of blood after the former died of blood loss (something he used to shake her up to compel her to agree, what an asshole). Playing with her head aside, I think that in that moment, him offering her her loved ones back seemed logical to him. She had been pining for them for so long beneath all that brassy exterior and gambling and medical ninjutsu, so why would she not jump at the chance to see them again?
But he underestimated Tsunade's grudge factor and her own maturity. She was able to throw away the ability to see them because of what he had done to the Leaf Village, the place that all three Sannin had grown disillusioned with in their own way, and that surprised him big time because on top of him having been one of her closest companions for a long time and seeing how their deaths wrecked her he had also become a master at manipulation and human psychology to Hannibal Lecter-like levels.
Aaaand that's all I got. At what point he went all Dr. Machiavellian Mengele, I have no clue, but he wasn't a completely heartless bastard in the beginning.
Edit: Added a few more ideas cuz my thoughts were running in every direction when I first wrote this and I wanted to get them down as soon as possible. P.S. If you have any more insights or want to debate with me on any of the characters or backstories I have mentioned, please do. I am not an Orochimaru, Tsunade, Jiraiya, or Sakumo stan, so any of your insights would be coolio. Also, apologies for long-winded sentences. I don't breathe sometimes when I'm trying to make a thought and it reflects in how I write :O
