Part 1

'Four men in uniform'

It was dark and rainy day. Four marines carried a small coffin on their shoulders, the coffin was light a little too light. Everyone in the funeral was wearing black with a few colors popping out mostly from a poppy flower

'To carry home...'

Few Marines had tears in their eyes with home down right crying and sobbing not caring who saw or heard. Why does it have to happen to an innocent child? Everyone thought of it but they have no answer

'My little soldier...'

As the four Marines comes closer the three Admirals could help but be filled with despair. Kizaru an admiral known from his bright yellow suit is now adorned with a black suit and a bright red poppy on his breast pocket

Kizaru never felt this way; atleast not in a long time. He never thought a sweet innocent girl who's always baking cookies and giving poppy flowers to everyone would die in such a cruel way

Aokiji never felt this angry in his life. Yes he experience anger before but not like this. He was angry at everyone. Angry at Marines. Angry at akainu. And angry at himself for not saving a charming and sweet girl who always gives and never except returns

Aokiji grips the frosted poppy flower at his hand, he remembers the first day he met her she was so so sweet, Full of love and life. But not anymore. Aokiji bitter said in his head while glaring at akainu

'What could she do? Should have been a rockstar'

The little girl was giggling was the tutor panic trying to find the girl. The said girl was hiding behind a bush in her small little garden filled with flowers and little insect and animals who keep her company besides the maids, Butler's, and other workers in the mansion

'What could she do? Should've been a mother'

It was late in the night the little girl was wondering inside the big mansion trying to find confront. The girl sigh as she wipes a few tears, the girl was visibly upset because her father is away for months. The girl huffed as she goes up and up towards the attic

The girl was banned from the attic from unknown reason by her father. The little girl curiousity got the better of her and opening the attic door. As soon as she opens the door she let out a cough as the attic was filled with dust and cobwebs but it didn't stop her

The girl looks around the room as she noticed a huge painting that was covered by a huge black piece of cloth making her interested. The girl walks towards the painting and grabbing the cloth before pulling it down gently revealing a woman with a huge smile

The girls eyes widen as she notice her father smiling then it clicks to her. It was her mother and father. She examines the painting, the woman was sitting down wearing a beautiful white dress with her hair tied in a bun with a veil behind her. Her father was surprisingly smiling wearing a white and red wedding suit and his arm around the woman shoulder

The girl couldn't help but feel saddened. Saddened that she never saw her mother. Saddened that her father never smiles. Saddened that she killed her mother

'But she never even made it to her twenties'

The four Marines reach the front of the funeral where a small hole was dug. One of the Marines bit his lip, it was koby trying not to cry but couldn't stop himself which made his friend helmeppo who just stayed unusually quiet as tears run down his long face

'What a waste'

A few Marines took off their hats and putting it to there chest and bowing there head out of respect, including akainu and Sengoku.

'Army dreamers'

"Any last words?" Sengoku ask his voice loud and clear but no one cares to speak; most Marines were glancing at akainu.

'Oh what a waste of'

Sengoku just sigh as he signals the four Marines to lower down the small coffin. The Marines then slowly lowers the coffin as a lot of people throws poppy flowers as they back away

The coffin was now officially lowered down and the Marines starts shoveling the dirt back as people more and more disaapear.

An hour pass as akainu was the only one left. He was staring down at the headstone

'[Name]

In golden fields, a child's laughter rang,

Life's vibrant song, forever she sang.

But fate's cruel twist took her away,

Leaving memories that forever stay.

A beloved friend and daughter'

Tears run down akainu- no sakazuki face as he falls to his knees and gripping the soft grass. The headstone staring back, the headstone as fillwed with Plushies, toys, sweets, candles, flowers and cards

'Army dreamers'

As sakazuki starts speaking saying all the things he wants to do and experience with her and never able to do. Telling her all his flaws and what he failed to do and what he should have done.

A few hours pass as sakazuki reluctantly left as it was getting dark, promising his daughter to return the very next day. He gave the headstone a Pat almost like he's patting his daughter head

As he left, a shadow appear with a mischievous and evil grin with a plan

I'm gonna write headcanon pasts for the One Piece admirals! They're just so damn interesting and I love their mobster/rebel/yakuza theme! Kinda reminds me of the games lol.

BEWARE OF ANGST!: MENTIONS OF CHILD ABUSE, VIOLENT CRIME, UNDERAGE DRINKING, AND SELF-HARM

So, I looked at the childhood images of Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru and made what I could make out of what I can see in the images. No kid photos of Fujitora and Greenbull yet, do I used canon events as refs.

Akainu (Sakazuki) 🐶:

He had a turbulent childhood in a crime-riddled place. His father was a crime boss who abused him for seeing Marines as his hero, because his dad knew more that the Marines and WG were corrupt and shit. After all, the dad was a criminal, while Akainu genuinely wanted to serve in the marines and stand for his "justice".

A Marine he idolized gave him the tattered cap shortly before he killed his father because that Marine brainwashed and gaslit him into believing in his twisted justice during his stay in that area while searching for pirates. Akainu saw the battle and was instantly INSPIRED. He would become like his hero and blow up his shithole hometown.

Akainu has seen crimes, vices, violence, and all sorts of moral decadence in his place, so it's not surprising his views on justice got fucked up. He learned street smarts and how to fight due to his environment. He met Aokiji after killing his dad (it's anime logic where the young kid can kill an adult with fighting experience) and both had a rocky, love-hate (yes, I used to ship these two) relationship while wandering and doing odd jobs before being taken in by the Marines.

Since both grew up in turbulent, violent environments, they had the physical and mental strength (and fuckedup-ness) to fight in the Marines, and it'd be a waste to just let them toil while doing household chores, right?

So, they were taken in and trained. All the time, even until they were admirals, Akainu and Aokiji were arguing, always. Their opposing views, personalities, and justices didn't help either. Sometimes, they'd even be petty, like, Aokiji just moves Akainu's bonsai vase a little and Akainu is in a real foul mood and then shit hits the fan. It's very hilarious to see, especially when they were kids, they always had to be disciplined because they were always fighting 😂.

Akainu always had to deal with Aokiji's apathy and laziness. Akainu was the kid always angry and serious, so he was a rather amazing student - always "upright" in the Marines' eyes. Aokiji was the lazy but smart one, as in, super lazy. During teamwork training, Aokiji was kind of a slacker at first and Akainu would fight him always. It kinda died down over time as they became adults, but Akainu is still pissed about it, as always 😂.

Soon, Akainu burned down his pirate and criminal infested hometown. Fuck the innocents and everything. There are criminals there and he will send them to hell. And he succeeded.

Akainu also had a rather romanticized view of the Marines as a child due to his circumstances. Anything about spreading justice, order, and punishing criminals, and he'll be pumped up. This is the shit for him, and he's quick to plan and act when it comes to these. Despite his angry, wild nature, ever since he was young, he was ever so PASSIONATE about being a ROUGH, STRONG Marine man. Hence, the rose of the fuckin' lady killer sheesh 🥵. Something here's burning hot and it's not just the lava!

Yah, yah, I just spent over half the year creating yakuza/boryokudan OCs and well, I guess the dashing underworld outlaw prince swept me off my feet 🤩🤩🤩...

Aokiji (Kuzan) 🐦: Aokiji had deadbeat parents who always let him get beat up. He lived in the same area as Akainu. Due to his family being deadbeat, he picked up vices and began to drink at an early age. He decided to wander away, doing odd jobs. Despite his apathy towards most of the world and anger towards criminals, helping people with chores kind of softened his heart. This has helped him develop a sense of compassion, unlike Akainu, who did these chores as a way to work towards being accepted by the Marines. Sometimes, Aokiji would be dog tired and sleep a lot in his free time.

Soon, he met Akainu and they accompanied each other. Being alone was boring, and besides, they were kids. They'd argue a lot, even while working, AND especially when sharing a sleeping space. Oh boy, they'd get violent when one starts pressing agains the other.

And that's the definition of true love according to what my shipper brain said

The Marines soon took them in and they began to train. Aokiji was rather apathetic to this at first, but then actually began to warm up a bit to his job. Sometimes, it was even entertaining, especially arguing with Akainu or simply bullshitting his fiery frienemy. But, as Aokiji became an adult, cracks began to show.

Aokiji began to see all the misery and corruption. The causes of poverty and crime, a lot caused by the WG. He saw innocent people hurt due to the WG. Soon, he fell back to his apathetic ways. But, despite being so jaded and weary, he still had that kind-hearted side for those with benevolent intentions, regardless of them being pirates or otherwise. Soon, he wanted to be free to do this and resign from the Marines. Deep down, he had a heart like the snow, cold, and yet beautiful.

Dagnabbit, I'm crying why the fuck do I do this to myself 😭😭😭?

Kizaru (Borsalino) 🙈: Kizaru's family was the type that placed all their hopes on him to achieve their broken dreams for them, so they encouraged him to learn and study. He was rather pressured sometimes, but he did truly enjoy his studies and reading. He'd happily skip to the library sometimes and told them his stories. A light to their world, if I must say. Aaaand the feels are back 🥲.

Kizaru then decided to join the Marines, a decision his parents supported, seeing he could finally give them an ego boost, like "HOLY SHIT MY SON IS A MARINE, NOW, CLAP, GUYS". Not really his dream or what he wanted, but he just went with the flow. He was an easygoing, cool, chill dude anyway.

Soon, he met Akainu and Aokiji in training. He ALWAYS had to be there to calm these two down if they started arguing. One mean look from Akainu to Aokiji or vice versa, "woah there, now stop my dudes" Kizaru was the pacifier between them. He was also the quiet, cool, but very smart kid who always was in the topnotchers. However, he was the type to suck up to the government's ideals and decisions of the majority of the top brass and whatever view a certain faction of theirs chooses as right. He was like a ship bobbing on the waves without someone to steer it.

Soon, he got to meet Vegapunk due to his knowledge on some certain machines thanks to his childhood of reading. He would keep a VERY CLOSE EYE ON THE SCIENTIST. That's what he was tasked to do. He had no problem with that anyway. Then, he met Sentomaru, Kuma, and Bonney, and maybe, just maybe, his nonchalant, neutral personality slipped away, having seen the innocence of a kid who viewed him as an uncle and the sweetness of a father and his daughter. He found himself having fun for the first time, but maybe, he just didn't know it. But the memory stuck.

To thisbday, Kizaru is still nonchalant as ever, but maybe, I hope, something might happen in Egghead arc now with him. Could be good development for someone so dull, yet so bright.

Dammit. Them 2D cartoon seamen making me cry.

Fujitora (Issho) 🐯: Oh God, this is a dark one. Fujitora was a very unfortunate lad. He had an, abusive, overpopulated family who hated him and beat him to near death. They saw he was durable when he fought back and decided to sell him to the Marines. It wasn't fair. But the world's not fair. Always, Fujitora saw poverty and very VILE bastards in his place. It was not surprising to him. But, his hell was just going to begin.

Fujitora had a strong moral compass (besides his gambling) and trained hard to spread justice in the Marines. But, as his rank got higher, the more horrible things he saw in the WG. Corruption, slavery, hatred, and all things unpleasant. Ugh, he wanted to leave. Why? Justice is for everyone, right? So, why can't he bring it to those above him, who abuse their power? That's right, it was the world being unfair.

All the shit he has witnessed made him sick to the stomach. Are these the people he was working with and working for? Yuck. He decided to resign last minute before a promotion.

But, before he left, Fujitora reflected on his life before being sold to the Marines and after being sold to the Marines. Just the same. It was just the same back there. It was just unfair, so unfair. Wherever he went, there were always bad people oppressing the lass fortunate like he once was. Fujitora was unable to take the gravity in that moment and cut his eyes. He decided to cancel his resignation and return to the Marines. That way, at least, he can rise up to a position where he can stand for fairness. But if any sign of humanity comes before him, Fujitora will be unable to see it clearly again, despite his kind heart. He may feel it, but never see it, so he can only partially feel it. A prize to pay for justice.

This one was sad. And when kindness did come to his heart genuinely in the form of Luffy, he couldn't see those kind eyes 😭.

Ryokugyu (Aramaki) 🐂: This dude seems to have sucked according to the fandom, but screw that.

So, since he's quite the simp for the WG, Aramakiwas bought as a baby by the Marines, so all he knew was the WG's ideals.

Though unruly and wild, he was valued because he was loyal, even when he did things outside anything approved, like not asking permission to deal with certain peeps. He was also very destructive as a child, so he needed lots of discipline, too. In fact, this wild boy has been chided more than anyone could count they stopped scolding him altogether 😂!

Garp, Fascism, and Parental Failure

Garp is truly one of the most interesting One Piece characters for me because of the extent to which his dogged, relentless devotion to a fascist system–and the supposed "order" it promises to uphold in the face of anarchy or rebellion–perseveres no matter how many times it fails him and his son and his grandsons. He's fully aware of the deep-seated corruption and atrocity, and feels some kind of moral obligation to bend its rules to protect the innocent (as we can see with his attempts to protect Rouge and Ace), but when faced with widespread femicide and infanticide, genocide, slavery and endless examples of egregious cruelty, he is unable to comprehend the notion that the system is indefensible, or that the only moral choice he can possibly make when faced with that level of atrocity is to leave and resist it. His son recognizing the inherent, inexcusable failures of the World Government and its armed enforcers–literally quitting the force to start a revolution– changes nothing. The order to slaughter pregnant people and infants at Baterilla can't convince him otherwise. The countless instances of bribery, the tolerance of atrocity from state-sanctioned privateers, everything about the history of the Valley of the Gods are all things he's aware of, and takes issue with, but never comes to the conclusion that he cannot affect positive change within a system designed for oppression. The public execution of his grandson–a prime example of the marine's fundamentally irrational, arrogant, vindictive cruelty clearly bound to blow up in all of their faces even before their Pyrrhic victory at the summit war–makes him waver, but even when confronted with this obvious, indefensible injustice against a child he raised and rescued by people seeking to murder him on live TV and desecrate his corpse as a show of power, he cannot bring himself to act against it in any meaningful way no matter how much it hurts him to leave his grandson to die. If he can't veto it, he'll stay Vice Admiral and suffer through Ace being sacrificed on the altar of fascist state control, and functionally leave Luffy for dead in the process while he's at it. He fails every single person he wanted to love–Ace, Luffy, and almost certainly Dragon–and allows himself to be reluctantly complicit in countless crimes against humanity again and again and again because he's so deeply steeped in this notion of preservation of order through state control that he convinces himself that even this disgusting, atrocious, fundamentally flawed and untenable excuse for a government is better than abolition, better than revolution, or just the act of expecting accountability or literally anything better from the systems that issue false promises to protect you. Dadan beating the living shit out of him and calling him a failure as a grandfather, as a self proclaimed defender of the people, is one of the most important scenes in the Postwar Arc because a lesser series might frame Garp as a tragic, helpless figure suffering more than anyone else due to conflict of love and duty, but One Piece refuses to whitewash his actions/inaction or allow the grief and suffering caused by systems he's complicit in to take precedence over its real victims: the D brothers.

There's so much I could say about statism and anarchism and the ways people have internalized the supposed necessity of state violence to the extent they can't oppose that violence even when it ruins them or their loved ones, but that horrible indoctrination and its devastating consequences for both him and his family are what makes Garp so fascinating to watch and so thematically/politically important to One Piece as a whole.

Admirals as dads

Borsalino

he would spoil his child 100 %, and he would buy the best clothes too...like you see his suit and glasses? that man loves show off his wealth, and he would shows off through his child too. I think he would buy them mostly classy clothes, nothing casual or sportive.

he is a man who is very polite, so i guess he would teach his child to be polite too. i don't think he would be stern like sakazuki, but he would teach them through corrections of their speach, like:

he would fear that his child could become a pirate, even if he never tells anyone. He fears this scenario because he already knows that it would put him in an umfortable position

i don't think he would really attack\hurt them, but he would be really struggle at the beginning since he always have followed the orders.

still, he won't push to become a marine.

Sakazuki

oh boy, i think he would be a very stern dad, he wouldn't take care of his child he would TRAIN them, like he would be more a sergent than an actual dad. He would still spend time with his child playing, but he would mostly teaching them to be a marine since birth.

he can't allow his child become an enemy of the law like happened to garp, he would lose respect of himself (we know that sakazuki doesn't like garp much because his child and grandson are both enemy of world government).

probabily he would have a stroke if his child would become a pirate lmao.

he is stil smart enough to know that being too strict would led them to resent them, so he learns to be more lenient with them, letting them getting away with few things, playing with any game the want ( as long as the game isn't too stupid).

i feel like he would be a bit controlling, expecially about friendship that his child has.

he would take his child at work too, to show them the importance of working as marine. He would take them to the training camp, then he would take them to his office; he would take them to a mission too ( not extremly dangerous, he just wants let them know how marine operate)

Kuzan

the most chill dad 100%, he would let and would spur his child to become an indipendent person. He won't teach like sakazuki the importance to be a marine, he would let his child choose his way. Even if they would choose to be a pirate, he would accept them, even if he would be worried about them

he would still protect them even if it's from a far

he won't spoil their child too much, more like he would teach them to be humble, and expecially to be kind towards others. When he see them to act compassionate, even towards an animal, he would be so proud and warm <3

more than pay for very expensive clothes, he spends time with them. He would play whatever game his child wanna play, even if he have to act a bit silly, he would do it. And he would loove nap with them.

he would sleep with his child in a bed full of cushions under a warm blanket cuddling

i know he is a very aloof but i feel like with his child would be really warm and tender, liike i know he would use pet names like "honey, sweety, sweetheart etc"

he won't take them to marineford, he thinks his job is too ruthless for your innocence, but he would take to garp, letting him see you and letting you see how he trained.

he would let you see even smoker, since he's a kind guy even if he looks intimidating.

he won't let you see akainu 100% , even if you asked the answer will be always no.

Guys. I just realized one thing now.

Among the admirals, Kizaru's real name, Borsalino, is the only Western name among the other admirals' real names (Sakazuki, Kuzan, Issho, Aramaki).

The admirals are all based on Japanese actors in Japanese mob films, but Kizaru's real name is a Western mob film.

Borsalino / Kizaru

I have a feeling that your height doesn’t matter to him…. You’re taller? He’s delighted (and a bit amazed). You’re shorter? He’s delighted. You’re around the same height? He’s delighted. But! He can’t deny that he finds your short height adorable.

He’s overall a gentle lover, but… Sometimes he tends to forget that you are much more fragile than him. He would never hurt you on purpose, but sometimes he gets a bit carried away.

He will apologize with lots of affection, like hugs and kisses though!

This man loooves to pick you up in his arms a lot as well. Your weight doesn’t matter either, he just loves to hold you close to him like you’re his bride...

..and he might not say this to you directly, but he absolutely loves to hear when you compliment his strength while he holds you. Then he'll just act all smug about it-

Borsalino being how he is, he would definitely tease you a bit about your height. He’d occasionally just comment on it out of nowhere or do something to get your attention. Like he’d take your hand and place it on his and point out the size difference.

Sakazuki / Akainu

He isn’t the biggest fan of the huge height difference. He does prefer someone more close to his height. He had some concerns, but all the pros and you as a person made him forget the height difference. With time, he learned to “accept” it as he claims, but honestly…

In all truth, he loves how your small size makes him feel. Next to you, he feels more masculine and better about himself. He feels large and muscular. It just makes him so damn proud and boosts his ego and this man is all for it.

Actually, call him your knight or something. He’d claim it’s childish for you to call him that but he secretly likes it a lot.

He likes having you sit on his lap. He enjoys the closeness and it’s great you fit onto his lap so easily due to your size so it can be done almost everywhere. There’s also something he especially loves and it’s when you sit on his thigh. But that’s mostly on a more private setting.

It goes without saying that he’s there to help you reach places, but he likes to watch you get creative when trying to reach the high-up cabinets and such. He adores seeing your dedication to the task.

Kuzan / Aokiji

I think he has a preference for shorter women, so your height isn’t a problem at all. Like Borsalino, he isn’t too worried about anything, but he’s a bit more aware and actively worries more about accidentally hurting you. Eventually he relaxes though.

He adores you and thinks you’re sooo cute when you look up to his face from your height. Or do pretty much anything, he can’t help it.

He is a very caring man, but sometimes it might get a little annoying when he finds almost everything you do cute. He’s too lazy to fight or argue, so he’ll just be there and silently think how you’re pretty cute when you’re angry.

And there’s something that he loves to no limits. When he sees you wearing his shirts or other clothes. The way you look in his clothes, how oversized they are, there’s just… something in that sight, that gets to him. And he loves the way his shirts smell like you after you've wore them.

He loves to keep his hands on your head, stroke your hair and all that stuff when you’re near him. He might even rest his arm on you as you’re so short, but only to get a reaction out of you and then smile at you afterwards and apologize.

Issho / Fujitora

He wouldn’t necessarily mind the big height difference and you being smaller, but he would almost freak out about hurting you by accident. He’d make extra effort to be super gentle with you.

He would be the most protective out of all of these 4 and he would literally help you with anything you ever ask for. He doesn’t tease you about your height, but he might worry sometimes a little bit too much.

He was very cautious the first time you cuddled for example. He was afraid to hug you tightly, because he wasn’t sure if he'd be able to control all his strength.

Once he is comfortable though, you can expect lots of hugs from him. By the way, he gives such excellent, comforting hugs!

Eventually he calms down with his concerns, but he will never NOT put effort to treat you gently like a flower in his hands.

I know for sure he loves to just gently caress your face with his fingers and appreciate you. He also loves to just cup your face with his hands and hold it. It makes his heart melt every time he does this.

Admirals with an easy to anger S\O

Sakazuki

let me tell you this man has almost as much anger issues as you if not more. I don't think you can go a week without arguing. He would be angry at you for something silly and you double down because you are mad at him for being mad. It's a vicious circle, in short.

in fact your first meeting with him had ended with a screaming match. You didn't care if he was your superior but you still called him an 'asshole' (and who can blame you, Akainu isn't exactly the nicest)

every marine makes the same comment every time you see you guys together (obviously under their breath, because no one wants to make you or akainu mad, expecially the latter because he is also a very powerful man): "how those two haven't killed each other yet? "

and it's true, it's a miracle that neither of you tried to kill the other. But the truth is that even if you both are so similar that it doesn't seem like a good match, you both understand each other, precisely because of your anger issues.

you understand how much people and their incompetence make you angry, how difficult it is to manage that anger, and that desire to vent it in any way.

marines don't exactly appreciate when you guys are together because sometime both of you starts screaming at the poor marine in front of you, especially if he has shown himself to be cowardly or incompetent during his job

Borsalino

oh boy, he makes you really mad, expecially with that slow talk and how he takes life so calmly. Sometimes he makes you so angry that he starts shaking and your eye starts twitching. This is the sign that you are about to explode into a fit of rage.

Kizaru has learned to interpret your signals very well so when he watches you tremble he simply smirks and says "Seems that I am in trouble ~".

he is a bit of a tease (read: a dick) and therefore many times he tries to make you angry on purpose, for example by walking very slowly or fumbling when pronouncing a sentence, only to see you try and fail to contain that anger.

he just finds you so cute when you get angry, he can't help it! Especially because you are a dwarf in comparison with him: it's like seeing an angry chihuaha.He has to fight the urge to pet your hair every time, probably if he did it at a time when you were about to explode with anger you would cut off his hand.

when you get angry with a marine or other people, he simply observes you amused, however he is ready to intervene if the other represents a threat to you (but he knows that you can handle yourself very well on your own). He especially likes seeing you argue with Akainu, but he intervenes anyway to calm the situation because he knows what his fellow admiral is like and wouldn't forgive himself if you got hurt.

Kuzan

okay he too makes you mad, his lazy attitude makes you mad, when he was still an admiral and you saw him sleeping on the job instead of working or entrusting his work to others (let's specify: you)….You wanted to kill him immediately. instant.

and when he fought sakazuki and left you alone, simply leaving you a letter, you looked for him, found him and gave him a good beating for leaving you. In that moment, he let you do it, accepting your anger.

he doesn't enjoy seeing you angry as Borsalino and he can't understand you like Sakazuki, every time you explode into a fit of anger he always tries to calm you down.

at the beginning he did nothing but get you angry by saying phrases like "relax, it's a small thing, no need to work yourself up", fortunately Aokiji is an intelligent man and understood that this strategy was a failure quite quickly.

then he learned to know how to take you correctly (it doesn't always work but it's already something). Obviously, being a tease (again read: dick) like Borsalino , he can sometimes make jokes about your angry state, but quickly apologize fearing you might strike him.

when you get angry at other people, he always tries to stop you before you do something stupid, especially if that other person is Sakazuki or pirates like Blackbeard.
