fic writer meme
ty lore @megafaunatic for tagging meee :3c
How many works do you have on Ao3?
fifty three as of today. tomorrow? who knows.... (probably still fifty three)
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
518,435 words .... wrow.....
3. What fandoms do you write for?
historically its been all over the place but theres so much stuff rotting and dying in my gdrive that has never been posted so i feel like i have a broader actual ouvre than is represented on ao3. which is mdzs heavy at least in the past couple years
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
5. beyond all limit (wangxian i wrote for lore right after i first read the book) 4. if the story's over (moshang post-divorce get-together fic) 3. someone as good for me as you (written in 2016 for holster and ransom when i was reading check, please. LMAO) 2. at least as deep as the pacific ocean (written in 2015 in the clearest example of 'person distraught by the tragic ending of a tragedy misses the fucking point and writes a coffee shop au of achilles and patroclus after she read tsoa' ever, even bigger LMAO) 1. your name safe in their mouth (lsz gets his dad back, and other emotional adventures)
5. Do you respond to comments?
i used to try to reply to every comment i got but i stopped doing that around the same time i went to college and got more depressed. but i love reading comments and i sometimes reply if someone says something that moves me or like. asks me a question about the fic that i want to elaborate on? because i love to yap
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i'm not really good at writing straight angst i feel like it's normally like. angst with catharsis. but i wrote some explorations on grief in the past couple years that i feel like have the angst factor (what i have of you about nhs after nmj dies, and then when your beard fell out about my sweetie pie kageyama tobio in middle school after his grandpa dies)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
i have a lot of silly fluffy fics... idk i try to toe the line mostly of like. the joys and sadnesses of human experience but sometimes you just gotta fluff it up. i'll set the table, you can make the fire, which is book verse aziraphale/crowley living in a cottage and being in love, comes to mind....i love that one
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i don't think i've ever really gotten hate on a fic? i have been extremely lucky in that regard. especially since my whole ouvre from like 2014 onward is on that damn site and much of it is very cringeworthy.
9. Do you write smut?
not well!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written?
i often will do like kind of a quasi-crossover kind of thing rather than a True Crossover wherein i take characters i like from one medium and plop them into the roles and places of characters i like from another medium. i did a dragon age wangxian fic where lwj was the inquisitor from da:i called we held together the fragile sky that kind of exemplifies this dynamic
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of or that anyone has ever notified me of, but i also don't look that hard. if this has ever happened, it would hurt my feelings, so please don't do it ? lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!!!! and i was honored
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
not as such but i have one not-intended-for-posting fic which is basically just a transcription of jokes i have with my roommate about haikyuu characters LOL which i think counts as co-writing. she's my co-writer in spirit even if i'm the one at the keyboard
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
my answer to this changes with every new fixation i have. like right now it's kagehina. if you asked me four years ago i would have said wangxian. You Know?
15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
SO MANY...i think probably my fullmetal alchemist nie brothers au....i try not to post things until they are done and fully edited now, but that one was a whim-based fic that i lost all strength for as soon as i started thinking too hard about kagehina. i also had a fem nielan sci fi au that was vaguely based off beauty and the beast but nmj was like stuck in a ship and she thought she was its computer and that she was a program but she was actually a person....which i never posted any of except snippets on twitter and i think it was just too sprawling for my current skill level...i just was never able to wrangle it. but i am fond of it nonetheless
16. What are your writing strengths?
based on what other people have told me i would say the way i write sibling / family relationships, and while my prose is not always pretty i do think it can be pretty at times ...
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i feel like it's often too self-indulgent even if that's what fic is for lol, and i tend to look back on fics and think, i wrote that because i had feelings about it and wanted to say it, but i'm not necessarily sure that This Character would say/do that at this point in time....idk like i fear that when i don't think about it hard enough my characterization can be weak or guided by what eye personally would do vs. what The Character would do. but some of that is because the majority of my fics on ao3 are from years and years ago and i (hopefully) have continued to improve
18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?
i'm picky about it but when it's done well i think it's really fun and builds so much of the world/character. i think when it's bad it's really bad. when i go about it i try to think about like, a) do i know this language myself/do i know someone who does. if the answer is no i try to keep it really minimal. b) how do people who know multiple languages approach speaking those multiple languages naturally in real life. like (IN MY EXPERIENCE) ppl don't tend to switch languages for random words mid-sentence unless those words are like, mom, dad, uncle, aunt, ect...maybe swearing if they're less familiar with one of the languages and don't know slang/swearing in it...but again when it's done well it's really good and i'm not an expert. i just can kinda tell when it feels off when i read it, if that makes sense...(it's the same way i feel about grammar lol. sometimes i can just tell it's a little Off)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
probably either fma or soul eater or the sister's grimm book series when i was in middle school. or maybe doctor who? idk i had a lot of fanfic notebooks that i have since destroyed and then regretted destroying
20. Favorite fic you have written?
at the present moment it's in these coming years my kagehina love letter but again i feel like it changes constantly. like the more i write the better i get and the more the newest/most polished thing i've written sort of Becomes my favorite just by default of my satisfaction level with it. sorry if that's a bad answer
tagging @yuebings @dcyiyou @burins @cairoscene @cafecliche @perilously sorry if you've been tagged already also if you want to do this and i didn't tag you just say i did. I'll shut up now

one of my favorite lines from TSOA
I could barely watch these girls as they stumbled into camp to be parceled off. I sent Achilles out to ask for them, to seek as many as he could, and the men teased him about his voraciousness, his endless priapism. "Didn't even know you liked girls," Diomedes joked.

what's wrong with the song of achilles? I feel like people just started hating on it because it became a tiktok trend. madeline miller can write she doesn't deserve this 😭
i've personally not been a fan since a few years now. tiktok doesn't have anything to do with me, i don't even use that app. but if you want a real answer:
patroclus is a very interesting and comment warrior and counselor in the Iliad but one of the most empty narrators ive ever seen in TSOA–does patroclus even have a character in TSOA outside calling achilles beautiful every 2 pages? it feels like miller stripped him out of all the things that made him patroclus to become just achiller's lover. there is also a clear modernisation of their relationship that i didn't like, it felt so much like reading fanfiction: it's almost like the author took two complex interesting characters in their own culture and society, and tried to smooth over all the edges and ugly bits to make them appealing for our current society.
i am pretty vocal about it, but hector and odysseus are both my favorite homer's characters, which I think suffer almost as much of a butchery in this book. thetis, too, is almost cartoonish evil, like some sort of homophobic mom. briseis i don't even remember her, which tells me as much.
however, i do agree that miller's prose can be beautiful. there are some lines that even five years later i still remember very fondly. i sometimes do think about that scene between hector's father's & achilles. i read circe too to give miller another chance. i would probably still read a new work of her if it were to come out mostly out of curiosity.
but i must say that i am rather tired of how she appears to make very nuanced & complex characters into helpless characters, already a pattern for her in all her works.
so no, it's not a tiktok trend for me. tiktok hates on wrong books & loves the shitty ones almost always. but i think tsoa falls on this very weird spectrum where both things can happen. is the book worth reading? well, if you have time yes. did i like it? well. hard to answer. do i think it made every aspect that made achilles & patroclus complex warriors just simply and awfully boring characters? absolutely. would i recommend the book? only to someone who hasn't read homer first

sahar hi!! this might be a little random but you seem like you read books judging by your writing style (which i so so adore) and i was wondering if you have any recommendations? if u have any angst reccs too even better <33 thank you sm in advance and have a really nice day!
hiii yes i do :')) here are my favorites hehe
elif shafak - the island of missing trees. this is such a beautifully heart wrenching read about love and generational traumas and war and immigration and nature. it's so so well thought and intelligently woven that it comes full circle in the end and i was left with a gaping hole in my chest when i ended it :') so so beautiful
madeline miller - the song of achilles & circe. i preferred TSOA but both reads were so beautiful. I've never been a big fan of mythology but i loveeee madeline's writing style and her prose and imagery and attention to detail. both books profoundly impacted me in various ways, ultimately reminding me of the beauty of our humanity.
khaled hosseini- a thousand splendid suns. this is such a thought provoking and emotional read. i remember reading the final line and getting GOOSEBUMPS all over my skin. it's really moving and hosseini is such a talented storyteller. 100% recommend
i also love love all of dan brown's works. i read all of them minus one book and I'd recommend starting with the story which summary intrigues you the most. they're all very description and action heavy but i love how i can never put down a book written by him. he's a mastermind when it comes to intrigue and having you like :o WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT (personal favorite is angel and demons)
if you want a book that's more on the self development spectrum, I'd recommend The Gods always travel incognito by Laurent Gounelle. it has lots and lots of amazing messages that personally helped me in my life, but laurent doesn't scream them in your face, you understand them through the protagonist's actions and life.
i hope you enjoy these reads <333 and thank you for the compliment :'))) anyone feel free to add to this i wanna know ur recs toooo

Fic Writer Self Rec
Fic authors self-rec! ✨ When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers ❤️
Oooh, a chance to ramble about my fics, I see, well let's do this! Thank you, @sliebman10!
Let's tag... @mikaharuka , @alpaca-clouds , @thememoryofthatday , @sapphosewrites , @axolotlsupremacyowo , @0nelittlebirdtoldme , @kayedium-writes and @tsunderewatermelon !
Ok, ok, so... as usual, I'm going to be jumping around, because you guys know how my attention span can be xD
1. Life is a Rollercoaster; or Tao Xu's Fight Against the Big Butterfly of Doom (Heartstopper | 11.1k | Fluff, Humor, Time Travel)
Tao got the chance to go back in time and undo his worst mistake. Tao prevented Charlie from being outed or bullied. Tao changed things enough that, the second time around, Charlie didn't get assigned the seat next to Nick Nelson in form.
…Fuck.
Or: the Butterfly Effect sucks, and if Tao has to take desperate measures to ensure his friend's happiness, he will. He draws the line at Iron Man 2 though, someone has to keep some standards around here.
I binged the show and immediately got the urge to write something for it, but I didn't expect it to blow up as it did! I had fun with this one, and the readers were super nice and encouraging, plus sharing this one is what led me to eventually meet @mikaharuka as we rambled over our fics, so for that alone it's always going to have a special significance for me 😁
2. Neither Grief Nor Glory (TSOA/Hades | 7.6k | Angst, Smut)
Dying had been a relief, but death is turning into its own kind of torment.
Dying was just the beginning. Achilles' journey back to Patroclus is a long and twisted one. Along the way he'll have to confront his unaddressed grief, face his many regrets and learn to truly become a man worthy of Patroclus' unconditional love.
But like all journeys, eventually he'll reach his safe harbor.
My first yuletide! This one took months and a couple of minor breakdowns, but the end result is something I am very proud of, both in terms of the prose and the worldbuilding. And my giftee left the loveliest comment ☺️
3. All That Matters (Asterix the Gaul | 2.6k | Character Study, Queerplatonic Relationships)
Asterix has always felt different, but he has Obelix, and that is usually enough. Everybody else has questions, however, and he grows tired of answering.
"He wants to shout, even if he still doesn't know what he wants to say, even if he knows that if he lets his frustration take hold of his tongue, he will regret the harm he will cause."
This was... very, very cathartic to write. I remember rewriting sections of this so often, and I am humbled by the response it had. It was a very validating experience.
4. Life is a Flower, Love is the Honey (Deep Space Nine | 9.5k | Romance and Fluff)
“I don’t think Julian would like that,” Leeta said, without pausing to think about it, but… “We could ask him,” Rom had replied. And wasn’t that an interesting idea?
(A self-indulgent, mostly Rom-centric, Julian/Leeta/Rom fic because I was re-watching ‘Bar Association’ and this happened. I have no regrets.)
The one that brought me back into writing, after several years of hiatus... and the one that gave me confidence to push on, even if I nearly backed out due to it featuring a strange rarepair. This story is always going to be special for me <3
4. When You Speak, I Hear Silence (Deep Space Nine | 1.8k | Friendship)
Terok Nor is no more, and strange new aliens are coming to the newly named Deep Space Nine. Nog doesn't expect life to change; but then he finds a friend, who gives him the greatest gift he will ever receive.
If there's a fic where I wouldn't change a single word or a moment of the writing process, it has to be this one. I'm so glad I didn't go with my initial idea, because this version with Jake&Nog just made things click for me ^_^

I just finished Ultimate Weapon Alice. Hands down one of the best dramas I've watched action wise and romance wise all year. Actually in the past 5 years. I rank this show that highly. I know when it finally gets popular in the mainstream like Squid Game or something like some other popular top 10 Netflix show, people will definitely ask themselves how did they miss this gem.
Totally reminds me of when I first read The Song of Achilles the year it came out in 2011. I was like this book is wonderful and has so many layers like an onion, that one day it will be on something like OH THIS BOOK IS THE BEST EVER AND LET'S TALK ABOUT IT! It's 2022 and I just now see TSOA at my local Target on the popular books and I don't have to go searching for it like it's some diamond in the rough anymore. It's hilarious watching certain media become popular LATER. So many get so mad and start gatekeeping and I'm like, bro, it's not about that. Sometimes things become popular at different times. We're all not on the same schedule. Loving media is like that. That's the joy of libraries and finding your favorite song at random times. We're not all gonna get that at the SAME time. But when you do come across something and you feel alone, a lot of the time you will be able to see years later the RESURGANCE. The OH WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS MEDIA NOW. IT MISSED IT WHEN IT AIRED BUT LET'S DISCUSS IT NOW.
Ultimate Weapon Alice will in my opinion have that moment. I can feel that in my soul just like TSOA in 2011. It's amazing in ways that I'm like, productions with 10x the budget and "star power" wish they had 10% of the sheer performances in this show.
Dark humor. Complex story line. Cliché tropes being poked fun of and yet in the end, you realize it's all completely realistic anyways. Sometimes life IS like that. It feels like a trope. Trauma is like that. It's not this little neat little box with oh I fell in love and it fixed me. No. The trauma talked about in this show is refreshing in a way that I'm like, I wish this was in a TED talk by itself. If this was watched maybe just MAYBE we could get the ball rolling on so many mental health points in a way others will NOT feel ashamed or be immediately demonized for saying they are suicidal due to severe trauma etc etc. The writers did their homework. So much work BEHIND the scenes show in this show. Closest mega production I can think of that tackled this and is openly talked about is the first Deadpool movie.
It might not be on a top 10 most watched list this year in 2022 for many, but I know years later it's going to be, oh what was I doing in 2022 when this show came out? How did I miss it? It's gonna have that later.
It's absolutely perfection in a way of, it made me go, I've had the worst year of my life this year in 2022, but this 8 episode show I found yesterday and binged in 2 days, when I've not done that in months due to severe depression myself, I'm like, oh. I feel seen and heard and I have a little more hope too. I know I'm not alone. I'm not new to severe depression. Had it also since I was a kid. I'm 31. But wow, seeing a show tackle it the way Ultimate Weapon Alice did? *chef's kiss* I wish the entire cast and crew nothing but success and happiness and many more projects.
10/10 must watch.
Sorry for writing an essay in your inbox. <3
I love a good essay about an underrated drama!
I feel the same way - is it the best K-Drama ever? No BUT. For the low budget, the NOT a-list actors (though hopefully now they'll all get leading roles!) and the concept I just loved it! And it WAS weird how no one watched it and I honestly just stumbled upon it. LUCKY MEEEEE :)
Heads up y'all it's very bloody.

Thanks for the ask, friend!! <3
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
Probably two shadows, reaching. I wrote it at the perfect intersection of time when I was still reeling from finishing TSOA and also had just reunited Pat and Achilles in Hades. It also was one of those works that kind of just, flowed out of me? Like, I think I wrote it (it's not very long) all in one sitting and the rest was editing. Would love to tap into that kind of energy again sometime soon, but alas, I do not control it.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
Accordingly, let's do one from there:
His feet do not so much pound off the earth as it propels him forward. He sees his full lips first, trembling but upturned, then the curve of his bronze cheek – the one he has stroked, and kissed, and brushed his own cheek against a thousand times. His hair remains long and dark and unruly, his shoulders strong and full as they were in life, or even in death.
And his eyes – grief and joy twinned, piercing through to Achilles’ heart, though he no longer has one, the heart that has always been Patroclus’ in life, in death, in afterlife.
“Patroclus,” Achilles says, and it is not enough, but his throat has closed to other words, so instead, he steps forward.
It is as if the world has opened up around them, when Patroclus takes Achilles in his arms, and they are up on that mountaintop once again, the wounds of their shared fate far away in both time and place. He cradles the back of Patroclus’ head, fingers tangling in the spot behind his ear where his hair never lies flat, tracing the shoulders that he has loved since they were thin and narrow, the muscles of his beautiful chest.
Something had broken within him that day when Patroclus’ body was dragged off the battlefield, divested of the armour that caused his death. He has had an eternity to dwell on the guilt that has eaten him from the inside, with only his duties in service to Lord Hades to distract him. But the wound seems small, in light of the gift that Zagreus has given him now. Whatever words there are to be said between them can now be spoken, and though he may never earn his forgiveness, he has an eternity to keep trying, and it is enough.
“Philtatos, my Patroclus,” he whispers again, and his lips meet his cheek, the conch of his ear, the pride of his brow, and finally his mouth. He tastes of the ambrosia that Zagreus has pressed into his hands, of figs so ripe the juice runs down his fingers, of his greatest dream and greatest regret, and of him. He who stood by him, and challenged him, and cherished him until his dying breath. His Patroclus, the best of the Myrmidons and of all people.
“Achilles,” his beloved pulls away to breathe in his ear, and he is made whole once again.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
I'd seen a lot before playing about Hades and Thanzag specifically, but I hadn't expected to be so into a romance from a game that doesn't seem like it would have good romances? Like, the top-down graphics and the difficulty of the combat suggests that they'd neglect other aspects, and abstain from romance altogether, and yet Thanatos especially has captured my heart, and his dynamic with Zagreus is incredible (they're both so STUPID). Anyway Hades is a great game and for a Bioware romance aficionado, the quality of the romances was a surprise that then turned into a writing interest, lol.

Hello! Greek anon back again! I’m in a book club currently reading The Song of Achilles and I was curious if you’ve read it and if you did, what’s your opinion on it? As someone who has actually read the Iliad
I have read tsoa!! Bought it and finished it in thr same day. It's been like 2 years since I read it though, so if some of this is inaccurate, my apologies.
I liked it a lot. I enjoyed that it focused on Patroclus, considering his role in the iliad is so small. I wasn't really a fan of how his story was handled, though. It didn't often feel like he had a lot of his own agency and he was kind of just dragged around, which I suppose is fitting considering Achilles - and by extension Patroclus - is fated to die.
I also wasnt sure about the choice to make him a healer rather than a soldier. In the Iliad, Partroclus is referred to as the best of the myrmidons. His confrontation with Hector, when he fights and dies, is one of the beat scenes in the iliad imo, and in TSOA it didn't really carry the same weight? It felt very frantic. Rather than skill, Patroclus defeats his enemies by luck. Again, makes sense for the characterization Pat has in TSOA, but deviates from how I always interpreted him in the Iliad.
His speech to Hector where he says "it was fate and Leto's son who killed me, of men Euphorbus. You came in third at best" is just so!! There's so much power in that speech. "I see death standing at your shoulder" STUNNING LINE. And in TSOA it iust didnt have the same vibe.
I guess the TL:DR is that I really like tsoa! It's very tender and romantic, and gives a lot of context to their relationship that just isn't given in the iliad. It's an idealized romance in a lot of ways. Madeline Miller has some gorgeous prose that feels poetic and fitting for a retelling of the Iliad.
Her writing style isnt necessarily my favorite, but it worked for the story she was telling. I didnt particularly care for the way Patroclus seemed to take a backseat in his own story and was very passive, although again, this is just due to different readings. I always thought that by calling him the "best of thr myrmidons" had him nearly on par with Achilles himself, rather than a metaphorical "he was the best of us because he was a good guy I guess".

did i miss something? i feel like i must have because i really don't understand this seemingly sudden influx of people who don't like madeline miller &/or her writing. granted i've only read tsoa, & it was a couple years back too, but idk. i thought the prose in that book was very beautiful, & it very much made me want to read circe as well, although i still haven't gotten around to it. like do people just think she's overrated, or what?

I love your post that has lines from different media pieces that fit Itafushi really well and I was wondering if you’ve read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Because I cannot stop comparing Achilles and Patroclus with Megumi and Itadori.
“The never-ending ache of love and sorrow. Perhaps in some other life I could have refused. But not in this one. He would sail to Troy and I would follow, even into death.”
“A surety rose in me, lodged in my throat. I will never leave him. It will be this, always, for as long as he will let me.”
And my favorite: “Name one hero who was happy…You can’t” “I can’t” “I know. They never let you be famous and happy. I’ll tell you a secret.” “Tell me.” “I’m going to be the first. Swear it.” “Why me?” “Because you’re the reason. Swear it.” “I swear it.” “I feel like I could eat the world raw.”
Also how Patroclus and Achilles are compared to the moon and sun by fans and so are Megumi and Itadori. Achilles death being prophesy and Itadori basically a dead man walking.
HI!!
thank u for thinking / appreciating so! i love pretty words and i just love doing itfs parallels to it, bc whats better than putting / imagining ur otp in those kinds of settings am i right!
yes! i do read tsoa!! makes me insane just thinking about it. listen. where should i even begin. at first, i was thinking megumi as achilles, simply bc he’s from a renowned clan, simply bc he was the one who said to patroclus when they heard about possibly joining the trojan war, “if you have to go, you know i will go with you.” and the fact that achilles only ever looks at patroclus, he does not care about anyone else. when patroclus died, red is all he sees. with patroclus gone, he does not care about the war anymore. it is only hector that he seeks. and that kind of violent rage, i can see that it can(?) stem out of megumi. and how he tried to fight sukuna to bring yuuji back in ep 5.
but after contemplating it much further, ur right as well. yuuji is achilles, and megumi patroclus. the violent devotion patroclus has for achilles mirrors what megumi has for yuuji. and the fact that yuuji, the boy that megumi loves, is on borrowed time too. when patroclus heard about the prophecy, about how achilles would die by the end, he was so grief-stricken and tried to stop him from danger etc and it reminds me, of how yuuji swallowed the first finger and megumi was all, “pls save him. its my personal feelings.” and on the first meeting too. like how big of an impact that was. its crazy to even think about it.
you have the big quotes that i equate with them as per the book! but also here’s my other favorites:
1) “[...] and i thought of how many nights i had lain awake in this room loving him in silence.”
2) “when he died, all things swift and beautiful and bright would be buried with him.”
3) “how much longer will he live?” “why? would u prepare urself for it? try to stop it?” “yes, if i can. please. please tell me.”
4) “in the huge hall, his beauty shone like a flame, vital and bright, drawing my eyes against my will.”
5) “and perhaps, it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another one is gone.”
6) “i would not care. whatever u became. it would not matter to me. we would be together.”
7) “do not let it be so. do not leave me here without him.”
the one theme i absolutely adore about itafushi is: the act of choosing. and how again, it mirrors achilles and patroclus. if patroclus cowers against thetis, he would leave achilles be. but he is afraid still, and he loves achilles fiercely, still. and how megumi knows now that sukuna might do sth to him, might harm him, but he still wants to stay beside yuuji, knowing any possible implications that it will bring. despite the catastrophe happened in shibuya, he chose to stay with yuuji, still. he chose yuuji, still. megumi knows and megumi trusts that yuuji himself wont ever hurt him. and can you even love someone u dont trust? megumi, megumi doesnt have to be a healer like shoko to heal / soothe yuuji’s heart, he does it anyway. i was so glad that after their reunion (chap 143 onwards), yuuji was himself again. megumi has a big impact on yuuji as much as yuuji on megumi. and thats just so lovely, isnt it?

Hi! So I did read philatos, most beloved the other night and lemme just say it was a trip. And my thoughts, as requested (I probably would have come shrieking into your inbox had you not been so kind to ask for feedback so now I am obliged to share coherent thoughts)
This was very eloquent. I could tell you were waxing poetical but it wasn’t in an annoying way, it was more a “you could tell how much the author loves this” way.
When Atsumu was initially looking through Kiyoomi’s old essays i was CACKLING. “Omi, what the fuck.” Had me close out of ao3 to take a moment to collect myself.
Okay i love the dialogue. 11/10
AHDHKSKALLD “I’d think Bokkun sent ya a copy of his design for his and Akaashi”s conjoined tombstone again.” HONEY WHERE DO YOU COME UP WITH THIS STUFF.
Ok um I almost cried at the exchange where Atsumu says “Omi, I’d set fire to the world for one last kiss goodbye.” 😭😭😭
Noooo when I got to the excerpt from your post that advertised the fic “And yet when Atsumu brushes a knuckle against his jaw and whispers, “Can I touch?” Kiyoomi falls apart at the seams.” (which I had completely forgotten about and then it hit me like a truck and wow it was so good)
So my final thoughts and overall impression:
Whoa.
That was so good.
SBDHEKOWAKAJJSBDIEIWBSISIS I gotta take a breather
Okay, oh god, this fills my heart in an unimaginable way. I’m shaking a bit ngl
I felt like the poetic narrative was a bit necessary?? Hahaha, it pretty much set the mood for the topic at hand, right? Talking about love, devotion, Greek mythology and the aspect of beauty.... well, I’m overjoyed it delivered well. Truly.
I really did love this hahaha. I’m happy you could tell ^^
Oh gosh, I made ya click out?! That’s hilarious, hun, and the fact that it was one of my favorite lines to write is ✨✨✨✨👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼✨✨✨✨ We are two of a kind hahahaha
Ahhh dialogue (especially banter) is my favorite thing to write, so the fact that you say that makes my whole world. Thank you. I’ll continue to work hard to deliver better dialogue in the future 💛
sndndejeksnnsjwkw I have no clue, but I figured the conjoined tombstone would 100% be something Bokuto would do (i mean, I would pffff) so why not? 😂
Ah yeah. “Omi, id set fire to the world for one last kiss goodbye.” was the first sentence written on the story. Also one of my favorites. It came to me as I still read TSOA and thought “yeah, Atsumu would” so I’m glad it moved you as it did me.
hahaha the fact that you were this immersed in the story to forget about the expert has me on the floor. that’s high praise hun bun. high praise.
Thank you for liking it 🥺🥺 this ask made my day and I legitimately (I’m not kidding) just woke up. You’re a sweetheart for taking some of your time to tell me all this. I’m forever grateful.
Stay tuned for more stuff on the way! 💛 Thanks again.

Fic Writer Interview
thank you @hoko-onchi-writes and @theaudity (i think you tagged me??? lmao) a couple people did
Name: Evelyn/fishydwarrows
Fandoms: currently The Magicians! but i’ve also written for good omens, DBH, MCU, voltron, the adventure zone, yuri on ice, carry on, TSOA, LOTR and the hobbit
Where I Post: ao3, Tumblr (sometimes???)
Most Popular One-Shot: just gonna go by current fandoms soooo my most popular magicians one shot is per verum which is a semi serious crack fic about quentin turning into a frog lmao
Most Popular Multi-Chap: my most popular mult-chap is my youth, our youth which is a coming of age childhood friends to lovers queliot story where both quentin and eliot are trans - i’ve been kinda on an unintentional hiatus with it but my classes just ended which means writing time babey!!!
Favorite Story I’ve Written: it’s definitely the time and the place which is one chapter away from being done lol the other one is a fic called “court of strangers” which i’m still writing :>
Favorite OC: technically not an OC but Hama, he’s a minor character from LOTR and he has a bigger role in I Tadui Hanar because he’s my favorite
AND GUYS I SWEAR I’M STILL WRITING IT THERE’S WORDS IN THE DOC I SWEAR
Fic I Was Nervous to Post: haven’t posted it yet but “court of strangers” !! it’s probably going to be the longest one shot i’ve even written so... yeah auhghgh also the time and the place because it’s my very first book fic and i’m very nervous about getting everyone’s book voice right
How Do I Choose My Titles: honestly it depends on the fic, sometimes i pull quotes from poetry or music and sometimes it’s lines i want to show up in the fic and sometimes it’s just words i can use as definition summaries lmaoo
Do You Outine: not really!! i’ve only outlined three fics in my life ever and coincidentally those are the ones i’m taking forever to write,, i’m very freeform bulletpointy
Complete: i have 47 completed fics on ao3! :> (and 7 abandoned.................)
Upcoming Work I’m Excited About: “court of strangers” !! it’s kinda my most ambitious because i never ever write........like....smut....and yeah lmao of course my youth, our youth because i’m determined to tell that whole story, it’s very important to me, also! i’ve got a couple other plot bunnies bouncing around in my brain i’m hoping to approach when i have more free time lmao
Worlds I’d Love to Write for in the Future:
i never know what i’m going to write about lmao but maybe something for magicians new class?? i’m enamored of the idea of audrey/sophie and definitely more femslash because i tend to do that for my serious writing instead of fic
i tag @ofshadowsandstars @faeymouse and anyone who wants to do this! these things are fun :)

Note
So Annie, I lied earlier about 5 fandoms, because I just remembered a sixth one lol
I mean, you *have* to tell me about Achilles and Patroclus from The Song of Achilles, after all!
Achilles and Patroclus
1: sexuality headcanon
Need you ask? They're gay, your Honor (and European!)😂
2: otp
With each other <3
... though, to be fair, I'm not opposed to a good Achilles/Patroclus/Briseis story at all, that polycule has so much potential.
3: brotp
With Briseis (especially Patroclus) because she's OP and I love her and she deserved SO much better.
4: notp
Not thrilled about any other pairing but, um Agamemnon or Thetis, I suppose, those would be a hard pass for me.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
I'm very much in the "TSOA happens before the main Hades storyline" camp now.
On a more humorous note: Chiron had to take each of them aside and give them The Talk. No one had a fun time that week, least of all the centaur.
6: favorite line from this character
"Name one hero who was happy. You can't."
"We were like gods at the dawning of the world."
7: one way in which I relate to this character
I mean yes, sometimes all you want to do is get under a blanket and stay in bed instead of having to deal with your entitled, annoying co-worker making a mess of things xD
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Once more, with feeling: My girl Briseis deserved better, Achilles you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Patroclus is a cinammon roll who puts up with so much. Achilles is more of a problematic fave due to all the anger, pride and being such an ass towards Briseis (no, I'm not letting that go).
