Chapter 231 analysis

So you know I went back cause I was curious... persephone only has two actually spoken lines in this whole chapter. One way when she said yes, and the other was her telling hades to continue talking after Demeter was basically begging hades to stop.

In a chapter that supposed to be about hades and persephone mutual love, persephone has two lines.. 6 words. One is when she's crying clearly scared of her mother, the is saying yes to basically what she may see as the only way to get out of the situation.

Well then lets actually talk about hades whole speech, line by line because I hate myself.

So first off, yeah no this is just shitty story telling. Just because persephone is vaguely blessed by her magic womb powers doesn't mean she is actually a good queen. hey rs maybe actually like.. fucking show us this shit?? like show us persephone actually ruling and helping people.. just do anything to prove and back up this statement.. stop telling us this shit and start showing us.

Plus like.. hades just going up to persephone and saying "your fit to rule and I'm not going to let anyone question that" is just boring... there is so little actual reassurance. plus.. hey.. people are allowed to question their leaders, given this line I'm worried for how they'll treat nymphs who aren't like 100% okay with persephone as queen.

The next part is just more hades being a creep, like yes we get it hades. You saw persephone once and started to get a hard-on, it doesn't actually speak to anything about persephone besides that she's attractive. This is a common theme through the whole speech.

The main points in which hades brings up is how like, persephone is beautiful and make him happy. Again it starts with how him staring at her through a window made him horny.

Another thing is just in this whole thing.. hades is just very dismissive of the serious situations and trauma that persephone had to go through. This next line is about how 'by chance' persephone was drugged and put into his car... that was a serious and incredibly vulnerable situation and all that he has to mention about it.. wasn't how she handled it, or even something smaller and more personal like persephone connection to Cerberus.

it's just how hey you where at my house and where just like nice to me. Also the whole reoccurring this of like hades accepting that 'that's enough' just.. doesn't track. Yeah he was avoiding persephone cause he was in a relationship with another person! and you still immediately offered to have sex with her and went as far as emotionally cheating on minthe!

So like.. town meeting? that makes no sense from what we've seen before, but hey despite them being rulers we see basically jackshit in relation to the goverment and how it works. Again there is just more and more about how like hades like to admire persephone.. nothing about her actual beauty or anything to do with their actual relationship.

It's just weird phrasing.. why doesn't he say "but now I get it be with you every day" why is there such a focus on him just.. seeing persephone. Nothing to do with their emotions or personal connection, it's just so distant and bland. Also like, there is just so much focus on the connection to hades. It's not we can rule together, it's that persephone is now hades queen.. it's not about to their life together.. it's about how persephone has effected hades life.

This next part again is focused on solely on hades, through this whole speech he only really mentions her feels and needs at the beginnning.. when comforting about her being queen. This stuff about his life and how much of a sad boi he is while persephone is in a moment of personal struggle is just.. such a shitty thing to do. He doesn't talk about how he wants to care for and make her happy.. he talks about how good she makes him.

It's a similar thing he pulled during the whole thanatos thing.. where thanatos mentioned his struggled and hades talked about how terrible his abandonment was for him. Hades is just.. really self centered.

Now when I first read this.. I just thought it was very fucked up cause it's just.. weird phrasing. Then I remembered why this is here... so you remember after persephone was fucking RAPED she immediately called hades. Then hades started to talk about how he considered her mother a someone he would be willing to have sex with?

Yeah so like hades made persephone make a 'deal' to have to ask a personal question. which.. it's still so weird how it's phrased. Persephone must answer this question, even ignoring the whole problem with proposing to persephone in an emotionally vulnerable state.. saying that persephone has to answer this question.. it's just fucked up. A proposal should never be some big surprised and confrontation, persephone should never have to answer this question... especially with how she mentioned she wants to go slow.. persephone should be allowed to say no.. or even say she doesn't want to answer it right now.

Also demeter look like a badass and fuck hades-

Hades using the name kore always just.. gave me an ick, though.. I do think that's more with my personal experience with names. Though through a whole speech hades has been incredibly self-centered especially during very vulnerable situation for her.. and he finished with probably the best lines to just sum the whole thing up.

my (focus on persephone relation to him and not to each other) beautiful (focus on persephone beauty above all else). kore (ignore of persephone past discomfort with the name)

- OBEY ME SHALL WE DATE? GUIDE -

Right away-this guide is resource-heavy. You'll need tons of glow sticks, Grimm and preferably Devil Points, but it'll be far faster than raising all your cards to level 150

I'll link this back to itself for those of you that would like to reblog can check for updates every once in a while (last updated: September 25th 2023)

card building

- CARD BUILDING -

try to get at least one UR(+) demon card of each sin to level 90 minimum. I’d recommend two tho you should first focus on building one strong card per sin;

getting them to 150 would be ideal but that’s insanely pricey + finishing the game with level 90 cards is still doable as long as you use glow sticks

if you don't have any UR(+)s yet, SSRs on level 80 can also help out a lot

SRs also work for early game, just make sure to swap them out for something better as soon as you get the chance to

check your cards' secondary and third sins. The following Satan card has pride as its secondary and lust as its third sin, meaning it'll act like a SSR card for stages that favor those sins

The above also goes for memory cards

get your memory cards to level 50 minimum and have at least one per sin

only build SSR or UR memory cards

again, SRs and even Rs are perfectly fine for early game as long as you swap them out as soon as possible

focus on demon cards first and memory cards second

max out your cards’ Devil's Tree

if you try to put the same character in your team twice, the message below will pop up, so make sure to level the cards of multiple characters (especially if you're only building once card per sin!)

if you have the following memory card, level it up. It’s a lot stronger than other memory cards on the same level with the favored attribute

if you need Grimm, only grind in hard lesson 14 and upwards. You'll get about 1k Grimm per sweep from a 3-star stage there; normal ones only give you up to 575 Grimm. Later lessons won't give you more Grimm than that

- LEVELING VS DEVIL'S TREE -

DISCLAIMER: I'm probably not 100% correct on this but from how I understand it, this is the main difference between the two:

Leveling raises a card's strenght for ALL sins, which is more helpful for using that card in stages boosting a different sin than its own and is generally more useful in the long-run

Maxing out a card's Devil's Tree does also help in raising the card's strenght for all sins, but since it focuses mainly on the main and secondary sins, it's more useful for stages that correspond with their sin

Whichever one you decide to focus on first is up to you. Personally, I alaways level my card up to the level cap, max out the entire Devil's Tree and then max out the level. However, especially for newer players, it's probably best to to raise all cards you're planning on using to level 10, then unlock the first level lock in the Devil's Tree, raise all levels to level 20 and so on

- GLOW STICKS -

if possible, have a card of each brother (or side-character that corresponds to their sin) so you can use all of your sin-specific glow sticks

Lucifer, Diavolo -> pride

Mammon, Barbatos -> greed

Levi, Luke -> envy

Satan, Simeon -> wrath

Asmo, Solomon -> lust

Beel -> gluttony

Belphie -> sloth

save your resources; don’t use two rainbow glow sticks if you can win with a rainbow and regular one

buy the defeat flash sales if you need more glow sticks! You'll be able to buy them almost daily if you do your daily missions + it’s the cheapest option for rainbow glow sticks

alternatively, you can exchange 8 ravens for a rainbow glow stick. Additionally to the surprise guest rewards, you have a chance to get 4 ravens after finishing a shift at Ristorante Six. Make sure to choose two preferred workers since that increases the item drop rate

- DANCE BATTLES -

you can still win battles if your team's strength is below your opponent's. It varies a bit from stage to stage but generally speaking winning with a 60k difference is doable, it just might take a few tries

if you want a (more or less) easy win, opt for 50k

if your opponent’s skill is either paralyze, curse of the zombie, curse of the frog, scarecrow, confusion, stun or sleep, go for a 50k difference, I’d recommend being 40k weaker at most tho

getting hit with berserker is actually a good thing bc it doesn't disable your skill and increases your charm; it's only mildly annoying when you try to time all your skills but other than that it plays into your hands

prioritize being able to use each one of your skills twice per battle (four times in boss battles) over countering your opponent

if you lost a battle but were close to winning, fully close the game during the battle and open it back up again. You’ll get the option to restart the battle and won’t lose used glow sticks. Just make sure to do so before the loading symbol shows up, otherwise the game saves your defeat. The ‘TIME’S UP’ is your very last chance to close the game before it saves. If you did it in time, you'll get this screen once you tap the start button:

you also can sometimes get fever time if you restart battles with the above method, so it's worth a few tries

- OTHER -

I binge-watched this into the dark hours of the night and I had a lot of points I wanted to make but I'll just vent (a bit spoilery)

this show is funnyyy, it had me laughing at points I wasn't supposed to (like when dome would appear standing in the distance out of nowhere like a horror movie character but sweet music played on top) and it also does endearing very, very well.

the main characters' dynamic is interesting. they're a very lowkey couple in a way, domestic and sweet but when the conflict is conflicting the tension is palpable. thorn can be very sassy and petty (kind of despite himself) and fah tends to need direct guidance - their fights remained consistent in nature and the conflict though frustrating made a lot of sense. these are young men with a lot of doubts about their future, their goals and relationships. theyre put in kind of impossible situations and acting out, saying the wrong thing, having trouble with controlling emotions are normal - it's difficult to watch but not because it's nonsense as is the case with a lot of forced conflict in media.

ai and saen had the best only one bed scene I've seen in A WHILE like I couldn't think of a better one, it had beautiful sound design, enough time dedicated to setting the scene and building the tension AND some lovely acting that made the switch in their dynamic so romantic and natural. they also had a cute development, even when softened up ai maintained that sharp tongue and saen kept looking at him with the same adoration and handling his comments with patience (the graduation gift reaction wouldve hurt me but not saen, that man is so used to it 😂)

dome and vee had me going crazy in the first episodes, I really enjoyed the tension but I was rooting for pan the whole time. i was yelling about girls in bls lmao like these dudes had me stressed for a girl I was so sure was gonna be sweet about it AND SHE WAS. at one point I was like "if you grab that empty beer bottle and take revenge I wouldn't be mad tbh", that girl was GRACIOUS. also "I told him that if he found someone he could leave anytime" girlll ��💗

honestly vee didn't seem too remorseful at the beginning so his guilt really taking over in the second half felt a bit out of nowhere but also right. I think hes usually a playful guy and the consequences didn't really dawn on him at first, not to mention he didn't expect to actually fall in love. dome is a cutie but that man pissed me off, I think the reason he struggled his much being hes now into a guy made the conflict compelling and understandable but it still was so unfair towards his girlfriend, I was screaming BREAK UP on like ep.2 not because I cared about his rs with vee but because he clearly doesn't want to be with her and he should set he free (and ironically it turned out she was the one who tried to give him that type of freedom)

also the hyperventilating scene..I felt that, it was so good.

the colours, cinematography, music choices, humour and drama are really engaging. I started the show a while ago (quite a bit after i had decided to watch it due to good recommendations), stopped for a bit, got to the end of ep.3 and put it on hold for a while because tbh the first episodes weren't too much fun, they had this one single flashback happen like five times in an episode like they were making sure those kids got their exposure 😂 but it really picked up from there, i binged 9 episodes at once, i didn't skip scenes, used the speed up button only once and didn't feel the need to check my phone which is a lot lol

it's fun, it's sweet, there wasn't much basketball after all (which was good for me cause I wasn't in it for the sport, I thought it was a volleyball show 😁) but there was plenty of tenderness, the way characters display affection is so nice and thought out. there's a nice squad, the friendships are not really a main focus? but you can feel the support (glad we got an aii/thorn moment, I was sure those two would get along)

I recommend it even if the first few episodes are a bit on the dull side, what it does well it does really well and it's a worthy watch 💖

I honestly do believe RS and her staff can draw gorgeous women when they want to, I mean, look at some of Demeter chapters and how beautiful she looks without having her wearing revealing outfits or doing poses. So I don't know why they feel the need to constantly sexualize Persephone as a way to show how pretty she is. With Demeter, you can tell right away she's beautiful. Hey, I wanted to comment on your post about speech. Please disregard if this is not useful to you. It sounds to me like the muscular mechanics of speech require a extra focus for you to execute. This is the case for me and the result is as a I tire I tense my tongue and force my mouth to “wrap around” the words more and more; the increasing cognitive demand of this focus pulling bandwidth away from language processing itself as my day continues.

If this applies to you I’d recommend

-yawning (stretches jaw muscle)

-rolling Rs if you can (relaxes tongue; i can’t but for me practicing helps)

-diagramming sentences to make them easier to process and articulate

-sign language (this is helps me so much! I always sign “thank you” and “excuse me” when I’m out and about and it saves me a lot of “little words” that “add up”) (people appear to get it)

-not feeling like you owe speech to anyone unless you made some kind of commitment maybe 🤔

Once again, this is a very subjective theory based on my experience; please only regard it if it is useful to you.

I'll keep these in mind and see if they help... I do have an issue with tenseness, which may in part be anxiety and my dental issues. Tangentially, I also speak quite softly, and I hate having to talk louder when people can't hear me.

But I feel a little silly talking about my issues with speaking because I don't think people really notice I have a problem with it. People call me eloquent and such. I guess they're not wrong. It just takes effort to turn my thoughts into spoken word. I don't necessarily feel like I owe people speech, but that I don't need alternatives enough. I can talk, people can understand me. If I used a TTS thing, I'd be able to communicate more efficiently, but I feel like people judging me for it or not being patient would make me even more anxious. I dunno.

The moment you take all of this as a personal issue, you need to step back for good. // i think what people forget to acknowledge is that there are a lot of people who use fandoms as a way to get away from the things going on in their lives (not saying it’s the most healthy or helpful solution) but that has been the case since the beginning of fandoms. So when things are disrupted in the fandom such as this weird rs that goes against everything you thought or think you knew it does disrupt your life. Because the fandom was your safe space and now it isn’t.

Exactly for that people should step back. You join a fandom to find comfort outside of your crazy real life. Once your "comfort life" stresses you out more than your real life, with problems that shouldn't be causing stress, you should leave for a while or find something else to focus your energy on.

Oh, actually, quite a few! So I'll share a few. For When The Sunset Turns To Gold, And The Universe Decrees, The Red Spider, and most of all In Another Universe (Maybe We Were Happy.) (Can't forget my Ginny Time Travels AU, but that's more than four, so, sad sigh. ;) ) As to why; FWSTG - Narnia books/movies make me sad. Exercise in worldbuilding a universe where the Pevensies get to be happy. AUD - funky little alternate sorting AU where i don't just focus on Hogwarts but also get to dabble in writing the WW's adult population for death and politics having times. They are, uh. Having A Time Of It, for sure. RS - A total conversion au where Ron is spodermans. Very funky. going to be incredibly angsty >:). IAUMWWH - Literally like six whole-ass AUs in one fic. It's a 5 + 1 style of fic but the 5 + 1 took 44k words. What was i thinking. Each chapter is basically standalone, my favourites are all of them but in order in terms of worldbuilding, 3 would take no. 1. Total AU except not really ;). A twist on a coffeeshop AU because I can't help myself and always need to insert murder. Ah well. It worked out - people seemed to like that one :D. But yeah. All told, worldbuilding is my favourite thing like In General To Do When Writing, so that affects this answer quite a bit, I would say. I mean, there's loads more total aus and other things I've written really in depth that I really care about, but I didn't want to bog down this answer with my inability to make decisions.

Ohhhhh man so okay so I recently used Kneel and Disconnect by Porcupine Tree to title a new fic of mine, and I was like, listening to The Incident again because it's such a fucking good album, and my guy, their songs are so much fodder, oh god. Could do so much with any Porcupine Tree song, fr. Time Flies, Trains, just... so much.

As for one specific song I think would make a good fic.... hm. I'll be honest I don't do much of that songfic stuff. But, having said that, I make AMVs, and those are a kind of fic, no? So. I've got a whole playlist of songs I'd use for AMVs, to tell a story.

Lol. Anything to get out of actually picking a song :D. I did use Broken Strings in a fic, once, though! So there's that!!
