sweet child
octavinelle x reader (i guess? not really romantic the tweels are just trying to get prefect to make a contract with azul but their feelings toward yuu can be interpreted however...)
note: this is sortaaaa based off the song from the musical because i love it haha... a little bit of grim slander, i love him but i wasn't quite sure who else to make the problem. thank u all btw for the support, i'm glad people enjoy my works!
you honestly wanted to bash your head against the wall until a higher being decided to give you mercy. grim had flunked yet another exam, bringing your joint grade down... quite badly. you always gave every assignment, test, quiz, and even homework assignments everything you had. but how much is your hard work worth when grim doesn't even bat an eyelash at your sinking grade?
you sighed, sitting on a bench in the courtyard. you decided you needed space from grim currently, as you didn't want to blow up on him over this.
unfortunately, this caught the eye of two eels...
it gave you quite the scare once they began to speak, as you hadn't even seen nor heard them come up behind you.
"my my..." spoke jade. "what is it that ails you so, prefect?"
floyd made a mocking pouty face, "it's so sad to see you like this shrimpy!"
you shook your head, knowing that the two were likely up to no good. "it's nothing."
jade gave floyd a knowing look, "well it can't be nothing. something is clearly the matter with you, my dear prefect. don't you agree floyd?"
his twin nodded, "cmon shrimpy, you can trust us!"
the way they closed in on you made you feel like a lamb who knew it was going to be sent to slaughter. you could feel your nerves getting worse and worse but still managed to mutter something in reply.
"trust you to tell your employer, sure."
they both smirked at your response, but jade was the first to speak.
"you two may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but azul can help you." his smile sent shivers down your spine. "in fact, he's been quite desperate to see you in his office again. all he wants is to make amends. come now prefect, i'm sure he'll make you a bargain you'll be unable to refuse." with that he sweeps you off the bench.
his twin grinned, "yeah! besides, he can fix whatever has you feeling this way, shrimpy!"
despite your protests, the two nearly drag you to the mirror hall commenting on how excited azul will be to see you. great sevens, just what have you gotten yourself into?

ough this was a good one. love the potential drama and angst with these two <3
@dadrunkwriting
865 words
notes: arlathan era, spoilers for trespasser
cws: mentions of slavery, adultery sortaaaa (re: marriage of convenience/sociocultural standards allowing for this, but could be read as adultery and might make some ppl uncomfortable)
“Solas,” her voice was colder by far than he was used to and he tensed as he turned to face her, noting the clear wrath upon her face. He wanted to shrink away from that heat, that fury, but forced himself to hold his ground.
So. He was discovered.
It was inevitable.
“Mythal,” he replied simply, without the usual obeisance. Her fury seemed to falter for a brief moment before it was restored in full, searching his face. His bare face.
“Dread Wolf,” she snarled and he nodded once, short and sharp. “You have been lying to me—to all of us!—this whole time!” He nodded again. There was no defense. “You lied in our court. Lied about who you were—about what you were. Then you lied to me!” Her rage shifted briefly to grief before she smothered the weakness.
“I had to.”
Her laugh was cold, sharp, and mirthless. But she didn’t close the distance—didn’t attack him. She could, but she didn’t. “You had to? Had to do what, Dread Wolf? Warm my bed under false pretenses? Worm your way into our court so you could betray us effectively?”
“I tried to reach you!” He snapped, surprising himself with the surge of his anger. “I tried to talk! You all decried me a naive fool, would never bend your almighty ears to listen to sense, so mired in your petty greed—”
“How dare you—”
“—slaughtering innocents to make your grand showpieces—”
“—you will be silent—”
“—and courting war!”
They were both breathing hard by the time he yelled the last, some of the distance closed between them. He did not know which of them had moved forward. Perhaps both.
He was the first to bend. Not to break, but he did not want her as an enemy. And he did not know what she wanted. “Mythal,” he forced his voice to soften, forced his rage aside. She narrowed her eyes at him but did not interrupt. “You can join me. You can be on the right side of history. You have listened to me for years—do you think I am a fool? Do you think I am wrong?”
“This is our reality, Solas.” Her rage had fled her, sorrow replacing it. “What am I to do? Slaughter my husband, my children? They will not join. They will not listen.”
“You can change their minds—” She raised a hand and this time he obeyed, falling silent.
“I cannot.” She said it with a deep assurance. “They are already suspicious,” she admitted and he frowned, surprised. “They think you are corrupting me. They were willing to look away when I took a slave to my bedchambers, but they see in me a new weakness they can exploit.”
“They seek to usurp you?” He asked quietly and she nodded.
“Andruil has become... strange. Her journeys are poisoning her. Dirthamen and Falon’din care for none but each other. Ghilan’nain is Andruil’s pet. Sylaise and June are obsessed with their crafts and care nothing for politics, not to usurp nor to defend.”
“Elgar’nan?”
“Elgar’nan... will not tolerate any sign of weakness.” She folded her arms across her chest, meeting his eyes. “I cannot join you.”
“I understand,” he said, and he meant it. There was a deep grief that lay between them, a boundary that could not be crossed, but... “I must ask one thing.” She nodded almost imperceptibly, but it was still permission. “All else aside, would you join me? Would you fight for a better world? One without war, without slaves, without the deaths?”
“How am I to answer that, Solas?” She replied, sounding the closest to helpless he’d ever heard her. “If the world was different, if I was different, what would I do? Think of what you are asking me.”
“I just—” he bit his tongue and shook his head. “You are right. It does not matter.”
“It changes nothing.”
“Indeed.”
“So... this is it.”
“So it seems.”
“Solas.” He met her eyes, allowed her to close the distance between them. There was a chance that she would strike him, but he did not believe she would—although magic crackled just under his skin regardless. She felt it, of course, and smiled wanly. “Wise,” she murmured, almost to herself, “and cautious. You always were. Tell me one thing.” He nodded—he would, if he could. “What is your name?”
He smiled—a good question.
“I am Wisdom,” he answered her, “and I am the Dread Wolf, and I am Solas, all.”
“Wisdom,” she mused aloud, reaching up to stroke his cheek. “I see.” She bent forward and kissed him, and although he did not release the magic he kissed her back. When she pulled away she looked at him as if trying to commit him to memory. “I will do what I can to stall them,” she told him softly, “but they will come to slaughter you. Be on your guard, my little pride.” With that she stepped away and he remained, watching as she walked back towards Arlathan, the distance growing between them with each step. Becoming something permanent.
At last he turned away and went to his people.

VERTIGO STEP—Suimuki Lumine x Reko Damershera—
Notes: Highschool!Suimuki, Highschool!Reko, Both of them are in band, drama kids too, not cannon gfs, they’re best friends, Reko sortaaaa likes Suimuki/??, Suimuki is head of the student council, people like Suimuki, she has a harem, slight hints to a abusive mother figure, suimuki is scared of her mother.
Suimuki sighed as she cracked her hands. She was currently in her room, working on filling out forms for the student council. It was nine in the afternoon, and the stars were out tonight. She wished she could just lay outside on the grass and admire them but her mother would scold her.
She was interupted by the familar ring tone of her phone and she reached to pick it up.
“Yes? Suimuki here.” The said girl introduced.
“Heyyyyyyy Suimuki!! What are you doin’ right now?” A familar informal toned accent greeted. It had a cockeny accent to it.
“Oh, Reko, what’s up?” Suimuki smiled slightly at the voice and held the phone up with her shoulder as she flipped through another packet.
“Ah..um..nothin’ really, I just wanted to here your voice again..” Reko slowly responded, hesatient.
“Families out again?” The black-nette council member guessed as she heard silence over the other side of the phone.
“If you just want a voice to hear, why not watch TV or a movie??” The older asked Reko.
“Ok, ok!! Jeez, I just…wanted to talk to you..is it a crime to talk to my beloved best friend?!” The pink-nette asked.
Suimuki laughed softly before shaking her head and replying.
“Of course it isn’t, it’s just that i’m sorting through papers right now.” The girl clarified.
“For the council, I assume? That must suck.” The youngest Damershera sighed before drawling in what seemed to be pity for Suimuki.
“Oh Really? Aren’t you a certifed deliquent?” Suimuki asked, siging another paper.
“No way!! You know I’m a perfect A Star student!” Reko replied, voice laced in sarcasm.
Suimuki laughed before quieting down. The black-nette didn’t want her mom to here her.
“What’s up?? You stopped your cute laughing.” Reko whined when Suimuki was suddenly quiet.
“Ah..um..it’s nothing, I should go now. I’ll talk to you at school tommorow.” The golden eyed girl rushily explained before hanging up.
“Wai-!” Before Reko could respond, Suimuki hanged up the phone as her mother entered the room.
Suimuki’s mother looked around the formers room before her blue eyes landed on Suimuki. Suimuki’s mother looked nothing like her, she had brown hair while the other had black with white stripes. Suimuki’s mother and father were Korean, probably the only simialarities the mother had with the second eldest child.
“Were you calling someone?” The brunette asked, fegining innocence.
“Yes…just a friend..” The golden eyed girl looked away for a second before looking back.
“And this..said friend..did they distract you from your work??” Another question.
“No mother..they didn’t.” Suimuki answered more frimly.
Both were silent for a while. Suimuki’s mother seemed hesatient to believe her own child, but sighed and backed off untheless.
“Alright, fine. Just keep it down, it’s almost ten in the night. Go to bed soon.” Her mother said in a order like tone before brushing Suimuki off with her hand and leaving.
Once her mother left, Suimuki checked her phone and saw that Reko had blown it up with messages.
‘Suimuki what the hell???’
‘are you ok??’
‘Lumine??’
‘did something happen??’
‘did i..do something?..’
‘Suimuki!!’
‘..’
‘….’
‘please respond..when you can..’
‘i’m sorry.’
Suimuki frowned at the messages before typing back a response.
‘Hello Reko.’
‘Suimuki!! there you are! did something happen??’
‘my phone died lol’
Suimuki grimnaced at the lousy excuse but Reko replied.
‘oh..well, then it’s ok i guess..’
Suimuki sighed before replying,
‘my mom told me to go to sleep, which i probably should do..😰’
What? Emoji’s add context.
‘yea you should, don’t think that i don’t see the eyebags under your eyes lately!’ Reko scolded.
The golden eyed girl laughed quietly before shaking her head.
‘ok, i’ll go to bed..goodnight, Reko.’
‘goodnight, my love.’
The council members face turned slightly red at that message before shaking her head once more and shutting her phone off.
Suimuki yawned and streched her back while she walked to school with a group of friends, Reko wasn’t along.
“Tired, Lumine?” A males voice asked, this was Killian.
Killian and Suimuki were practically praised together as the prince and princesses of the school. Thusly, almost everyone thought they were together or at least liked each other. Suimuki talked to him a lot, and developed a tiny crush on him, but nothing she could build a relationship on. Killian, on the other hand, had a crush on her. He was good at hiding his emotions though, but he tried to drop hints here and there.
“Ah yeah, Council work.” Suimuki simply replied.
“You can have some of my coffee, if you want?” The blonde handed her a warm cup of coffee and Suimuki thanked him.
The black-nette took a few sips of the hazelnut coffee, handing it back to him.
The golden eyed girl noticed the school finally come into view as a taller white-nette girl with black stripes spoke.
“Sooooo, Reko and you??” They asked, looking at Killian and their younger sister.
“..What?..” Both Killian and Suimuki asked, sending a look towards one another before looking at Jin.
“Oh good god..you don’t know..” Jin turned away and whispered something before coughing to turning back towards the two.
“Again, what??” The shorter raised a eyebrow and shook her head.
“Nothing, nothing!” Jin whistled and falled back with the others while she started talking again.
“Reko?? Isn’t that your band friend??” Killian tilted his head as he looked at her.
“Yeah, pink haired, has vitiligo colored skin, cockeny accent, pretty..” Suimuki gave the heterocromedia boy a quick summery of what Reko looked like.
“Huh…don’t think I’ve ever met her.” He mummbled once they all reached the school campus.
Suimuki nodded in understanding before sighing.
“Well, I promised her that I would met up with her and talk soooo….” Suimuki smiled aplogetically.
Killian blinked a few times before staying quiet and merly nodding.
“Ok, bye everyone!” Suimuki waved goodbye to the people she walked with and headed off to find her friend.
“My god, you are in love with Lumine.” Reki pointed out the obvious, hovering over Reko who was already in her seat.
“Yeah, ya think’?” The former rolled her eyes before scrolling on her phone absentmindly.
“Does she know??” The other pink-nette questioned, rather curious.
“I dunno’, she seems…busy..a..and I don’t think she want’s a relationship right now..sooo..” Reko explained, sweat-dropped slightly.
“Damn..I’m sorry, Ko.” Reki pityed the vertigo.
Both of them startled when the girl they were talking about shoved open the classroom door. Her black hair was curlier then usual and her golden eyes landed on Reko’s own amber ones.
“Hey, Suimuki!!” Reko smiled widly at the apporaching latter.
“Hey Reko, sorry about not being able to call you again last night.” The black-nette aplogized.
The other pink-nette in the room, Reki whipped around and quickly looked at the two back and forth.
“Ah! And you must be Reki, Reko’s twin, yes?” Suimuki smiled and held out her left hand.
“Suimuki, Suimuki Lumine.” She introduced herself.
Reki was silent for a bit, squinting at the short haired girl infront of her.
“Reki. Your very pretty, by the way. I can see why Reko has a huge cru-!” Reko stood up and slammed her hand on Reki’s mouth.
“A what on me??” Suimuki asked, curiousty outweighing confusion.
“Nothing!!” Reko smiled, nudging the taller pink-nette out of frame.
“Um, anyways..” Reko turned red a little while Reki sighed and shook her head.
“Your coming to band today, right?? Misery will have your head if you don’t show up again.” Suimuki sighed, shaking her head in the process.
“Ah, yes, Misery can be scary when your late or piss her off…” Reko sweat-dropped, thinking of the time where Misery scolded and got mad at her for being a hour late.
“Good. Band’s not as fun when your not there, I supose.” Suimuki smiled before replying.
Reki made a face of surprise and whipped around and side-eyed Reko.
“Really..? You think so??” Reko blushed slightly while her eyes lit up slightly.
Suimuki closed her eyes and her smile got even more perfect, if that was even possible.
“Of course, I like being around you.” The black-nette sweetly replied.
Reko’s face was red before she shook her head and her flirty attuitude came into play.
“Aww, really? You sure your not in love with me or somethin’?” Reko grinned, leaning towards the wide eyed girl now.
Suimuki’s expression was one of surprise before she turned red and got embrassed.
“O..Oh come on!! Y..You know I don’t mean it like that!!” Her golden eyes shook when she made eye contact with the amberd latter.
“Hm, yeah ok.” Reko didn’t seemed convinced on purpose, to tease the flustered older more.
Suimuki huffed before flinching when the bell rang. This meant Suimuki had to go.
“Ah well, that’s my cue, I’ll see you later, bye dear!” The council president turned around and waved behind her before rushing out into the hall.
“Oh my fucking god.” “Yeah.”
Suimuki cracked her pale hands as the final bell of the day rang, telling everyone to leave the school or go to clubs.
“Ughhhh..” A blonde haired guy groaned, pulling at his bright blue eyes before squinting at Suimuki.
“Hm? What is it, Aether?” The violinist asked, streatching.
“How do you still look so perfect when that was the most tiring day of my fucking life??” She complained, whining.
“Oh please, I’m still tired too, but Killian let me have the rest of his coffee half way throughout the day soo..” Suimuki grinned, sheepishly.
Aether scoffed before leering at the shorter girl.
“Soooooo???” She drawled out, waiting for her to catch onto something.
“…?” Suimuki tilted her head while cracking her hip.
“Oh c’mon!! Are you and that Killian guy a thing or not?!” Aether scoffed before gesturing towards the black-nette with his hands.
“Like, are we dating??” The violinist asked.
“Yes!!, Obviously!!” The younger teenager let out a deep sigh when he was done with that sentence.
“No….?” Suimuki said but it sounded more like a question then a actual answer.
“So you aren’t???” Aether seemed geniuley surprised at this.
“No..at least I don’t think so???” Suimuki said back in the same tone.
“Ughhhhhh…” Aether groaned, turning away from Suimuki and grabbing her bag and starting to walk out of the classroom but said one more thing.
“Good, I like you and that Reko chick better.” Aether said before leaving the other.
“…” The president of the student council was left in silence for a few more seconds before she grabbed her stuff and headed to the band room.
“Hey Misery.” Suimuki smiled and greeted the eletric gutarist, who was also on the way to the band room.
“Oh, Suimuki. There you are.” The brunette and red striped haired girl greeted.
“I need to ask you something, about Reko.” Misery seemed actually hesitent or nervous for once.
“Oh? Go ahead!” Suimuki waved her hand, encourging the older to continue.
“Do you..know??” The eye patch wearing girl turned her face away and flushed slightly.
“Know what?? I’ve been asked that multiple times?” The golden eyed girl asked back in utter confusion.
“..Nothing..it’s nothing..” Misery mummbled pulling on the doors handle and opening the band club door.
Reko, Reki, Astro, and Hiraeith were already there.
“Ah! Hey Sui-??” Reko was about to let out a huge smile and greet the former but stopped when she noticed Misery with her.
“Chill out, Rey’s not gonna still your precious girlfriend away from you.~” Astro smiled teasingly with their eyes closed.
“Shut it! She’s right here, you know?!!” Reko hissed towards the band’s lead singer.
“Oh? She STILL doesn’t know??” Astro’s face became confused before astoinshed.
“Nope.” Almost everyone besides, Misery, Reko, and Suimuki replied.
Suimuki became slightly annyoed. What weren’t they telling her???!
“Ok, seriously, am I missing something here??” Suimuki gestured towards everyone who ‘knew.’
“Ah! No!!” Again, everyone who ‘knew.’ replied.
The black-nette shook her head before smiling and taking her place beside Reko.
“You know what everyone’s going on about, Cielo?” The violinist asked, pulling her own instrument out of it’s case.
“No…” Reko denied, looking towards everyone else who adverted their eyes, like they weren’t watching the two interact.
“Ok then.” Suimuki smiled and watched as the drum player began playing the opening to the first song.
You see,
What everyone knew was that
Reko liked Suimuki, no, loved her.
Everyone knew but the said crush.
And that’s what made it so hopeless.
