┌── ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ••✎•• ──────────
characters: tsumugi tsukioka | tasuku takato | hisoka mikage | homare arisugawa | azuma yukishiro | guy summary: the details of your first meeting with your future mate. warnings: pretty much what you'd expect with the winter troupe. rating: sfw a/n: i have no words for how difficult the winter troupe is, not really in terms of coming up with ideas but in terms of not making everything incredibly sad. they're all babies and i want to hug them. so i made most of the alphas want to do that too.

≿━━━━༺❀ tsumugi tsukioka ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were an aspiring musical director, still looking for your permanent place in the industry. but for the time being, you were doing gigs at random theaters who wanted to try out musicals, and lots and lots of schools.
✿ you were 22, the same age as tsumugi. you'd graduated as a director a year prior, though you'd not had much luck finding actual work, much like tsumugi.
✿ you'd been at a performance of a local theatre group that you'd been helping with their first musical. it was the very first one, and you couldn't have been more proud of the kids. one of them had invited their tutor, tsumugi, to come see the performance. you happened to spot him in the audience, looking enraptured by the acting, and decided to go up to him to chat.
✿ tsumugi didn't initially realize that you were the director (you looked like a substitute teacher to him), so he felt pretty free to gush about the performance as much as possible. so when you invited him to see the next one you were directing, he almost had a heart attack.
✿ tsumugi, even before meeting you, could tell how passionate you were about your craft, just by how passionate the kids were about it. so, meeting you, actually meeting you, he felt some spark light up in him. he's always loved passionate people. tsumugi was just so cute, like a little flower who looked so lost in the midst of all those people. it all just made you want to nurture him, even if you didn't know in what way yet. but you truly felt that he was special, he was important.
≿━━━━༺❀ tasuku takato ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were an ambitious little theatre armorer, who'd just gotten your big break in the industry. you'd been completely sword crazy most of your life so when you were as a teenager informed that you could just make them professionally, you were all in.
✿ you were 23, a year older than tasuku. you'd been working as a theatre armorer for two years, but you'd not really been successful prior to getting your break at god-za.
✿ you'd just been hired at god-za, for their next play that involved a medieval setting, and thus they needed swords. you were extremely excited to make them some. and the first one you needed to take measurements for happened to be tasuku, who got a faceful of measuring tape the moment he stepped into your office.
✿ you became a rather familiar face to tasuku, as the main lead in most plays he needed to see you often. and while he wasn't the chattiest person, you loved to gush to him about his performances and the way he looked with a sword in his hand.
✿ tasuku did not take long to realize that you had a bit of a crush on him (and his arms), which initially made him a bit uncomfortable. but getting to know you, and your passion for theatre, he might've grown a crush on you too. not that he'd ever admit it. you fell in love with tasuku at first sight, he was your ideal omega. strong, excellent looking with a sword in his hand, what more could you want? and then you saw him on stage, and it was over for you, completely.
≿━━━━༺❀ hisoka mikage ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were a wellness counselor, you'd pretty much just started your practice. well, start was a strong word. you were still looking for a place to open up properly, but you were advertising to clients already for home appointments.
✿ you were 25. you'd just graduated as a counselor not even six months ago. hisoka was 25 too (?), having just arrived at the mankai company.
✿ you got a sudden call from someone by the name of izumi tachibana, who hired you to come by her company to help with a sudden emergency. though you didn't expect the emergency to be a homeless man with amnesia and a serious case of the sleeps. frankly, hisoka was barely awake when you arrived and introduced yourself.
✿ you ended up staying with the mankai company (and eventually became one of the winter troupe's actors), mostly just so you could keep an eye on hisoka. but also because you grew increasingly worried about everyone else in the house.
✿ hisoka did not think much about you at first. obviously, he was half-asleep when he first met you. but once he began to live with you (izumi put you as roommates once you joined the company) he started to like, a lot. you bought him marshmallows. you were mostly worried. hisoka was... a lot, and also nothing at the same time. it took three days until you managed to get a proper sentence out of him. and he also kept stealing your marshmallows, which you forgave once you looked at his cute face.
≿━━━━༺❀ homare arisugawa ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were a composer, working with the mankai company. while originally you'd joined just to compose music for their plays, you'd recently become interested in acting and wanted to join their new troupe.
✿ you were 30 years old, a whole three years older than homare. you'd been a composer for almost 15 years, though you'd been one professionally for ten of those.
✿ you actually met during one of your violin performances, one of the rare ones you were still doing independently. he'd been in the audience, and afterwards came to you to gush about your performance and the inspiration it gave him. and then he recited one of his... poems to you.
✿ you ended up seeing homare around a lot (he claimed you were his new muse) and when the company started looking for members you immediately dragged homare to the audition. he was perfect (and the only possible roommate who wouldn't mind your late night jam sessions).
✿ seeing you on stage, focused on your instrument and playing the most beautiful music ever, struck something very deep inside of homare. he'd never had so much inspiration before. he didn't know the word for the feeling, but would later realize that it was love. to you... well, homare was eccentric, but in a good way. you rather liked his weird habits, and his appreciation for your craft. it'd been a long time since anyone felt that way about your music. he made you feel warm again.
≿━━━━༺❀ azuma yukishiro ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were a bartender, you'd just started working at a local bar after... well, let's just say you'd led a very interesting life and hadn't had an actual job in forever. you'd just recently moved to japan to get away from that life.
✿ you were... you didn't remember how old you were actually. you'd lost a couple of years, so to speak, but that's a whole another story. and nobody knows how old azuma is, ever.
✿ how you met is simple really, azuma was a customer of yours. you'd literally just started working, and he was the first customer you ever had. he sat down in front of you, and asked you to make him your signature drink. obviously, you didn't have one, so you improvised. and that's how 'winter camellia'-cocktail was born.
✿ azuma became a regular of yours, showing up at least once a week to more or less flirt with you. you both became an essential part of each other's lives, even though you both lead completely separate lives outside of the bar.
✿ as most of your customers did, azuma found you calming, someone he could talk to about anything. not that he did, but he felt like he could. you were just what he needed in life after a hard day, just a smile from you could make his day. azuma was the prettiest person you'd ever met, and his flirting didn't help your immediate crush in anyway. but your... life choices kept you from ever thinking of yourself as proper mate material for someone like him.
≿━━━━༺❀ guy ❀༻━━━━≾
✿ you were a florist, you'd been one for as long as you could remember. you'd inherited the shop from your oma and appa, though you'd recently been recruited for the winter troupe as you'd been providing the company with flower arrangements previously and became interested in acting as well.
✿ you were somewhere in your thirties, at least as far as you were aware. but everyone really got the feeling that you and guy were around the same age, but neither of you really knew.
✿ you were delivering flowers to the company when guy arrived, and as the only member who could proficiently speak english and zahran you were forced to greet him. the only problem was that you were carrying several pots of flowers, which made for a bit of a situation. thankfully, guy helped you before you dropped the delicate ranunculus'.
✿ guy was assigned to room in your dorm, which you didn't mind as long as he didn't mind the numerous flowers in there. though to your surprised, he seemed to love them, even if it was hard to tell. and he was excellent help with all your plants.
✿ guy technically didn't think much of you. all your passions seemed to be towards plants, and nothing else. but he quickly came to realize that you were actually the one in the troupe who could pick up on his emotions the best and actually put words to them. guy was... difficult. not as a roommate, or as a person, just to communicate with. he was very different from the only other person you spoke zahran with, but you found him refreshing. and his love of plants made you love him just a bit.

Win's BF: Don't worry... My dad is rather a forgiving man. Win: I hope he accepts me.
Me: *thunder rumbling* *menacing look* Where have you been? Win's BF: Dad... I'm a grown ass adult. I don't need you protecting me. Plus I am a demigod. So don't worry. Me: *menacing mood goes away* I know. But... Win: Hi. Me: You. Hurt him in anyway and you are going to die. Win: Yes sir... Win's BF: OMG, Dad. You're so embarrassing. The only thing you need to worry about are my 21 younger siblings.
Me: And why have you brought him here? Win's BF: A traditional thing that's practice by most people. To see if the man is worthy of being with his significant other. Me: Oh. *observes Win* Rough child? Passionate about one's career? Win: No and Yes. I was born into money but I chose my own path. Me: Okay. Win's BF: Soo... Me: Alright. I want to see how this goes and he'll receive the blessing. Don't forget he's an omega. Win's BF: *sighs* Me: Don't forget Win... You're dating the President of the Theme Cafes he owns. If all goes well.. You will see everything change. So... have fun you two. Better use rubber if you guys aren't planning to have one*Leaves* Win's BF: OMG. Me:*leaves*
Win: Wow. Win's BF: Overprotective and overbearing at times but he's just fearful for us. I think too much fearful. Still... he's a good man. Win: I see... Win's BF: If you marry me and is accepted by the family. He'll probably jumpstart your entire music career. Win: SOLD! Let's continue our relationship until we tell him I'm going to marry you.
Much later.
Win: And that's how my music career took off and have 4 kids.
GeatsCast Reaction?
Uh... wow, this is a new one, actually...
Ace: ...Isn't Buffa one of your dad's consorts? Isn't it weird dating someone that your dad's consort is acquainted with?
Azuma: *grumpy cow noises* Tell me about it... Not looking forward to the wedding
Keiwa: "It's one of these things, huh..." *sighs* "Just leave me out of this, please... too much horniness from you people..."
Neon: *is trying to work out how everyone will be related and drives herself mad doing so*

The Thunderbird’s Call - Chapter 2
“The Nagano realm and its capital, the city of Akagi, have been under the reign of the Sawamura dynasty for what is said to have been centuries by now. However, due to an unfortunate attack involving the next head of the family as well as the only heir to the throne, this period is likely to come to an end with the current king, Sawamura Eitoku…”
Out of nowhere, a flash of pain thunders through Eijun’s mind, his head feeling as if being split in two. Gritting his teeth, he can barely suppress a pained gasp from escaping him at the unexpected sensation; what the hell?
«chapter 1 || chapter 3» || read on AO3
Chris
He doesn’t know how much time passes as he drifts in and out of consciousness. Colours, voices, everything is a blur to him, dampened by the throbbing ache in his shoulder and head. Sometimes he imagines he hears his name, urgent calls of “Takigawa-san!”, but he can’t be sure. And even if he was, he might not have responded to being addressed, still too caught up in the horrific pictures replaying over and over in his mind; images of brutal murder and his comrades falling right before his very eyes one after another, struck down by arrows and cut open by gleaming swords. He swears he can still smell the metal-like tang of blood in the air as their dying screams echo in his ears. This time, when the darkness catches up to him once again, he welcomes it readily.
When he comes to at last, his body feels heavy and worn down although it is nothing compared to the excruciating white-hot pain from before. As his senses return to him slowly, he recognises a cool touch to his forehead and the pungent smell of herbs tickles his nose. The healing wing then, if the otherwise silent surroundings and the soft bedding underneath him are any indication. Immediately, his prior automatic tension evaporates completely.
“He is awake, Your Highness,” a hushed female voice lets him know that he isn’t alone in the room and he strains to open his eyes, though they wouldn’t cooperate just yet. The statement is succeeded by more murmuring that is too low for him to make out clearly before quiet steps seem to veer away from his spot. The sound of the door being slid shut is followed by another bout of silence. Willing his body under control, his eyelids blink open slowly to get used to the dim lighting in the room.
“Finally decided to wake up, Chris-senpai?”
Even though he should have known that it would not take long for the owner of that calm voice to seek him out, it still surprises him when he turns his head slightly and finds the young alpha sitting at his bedside.
“I believe I told you in the past to drop the honorific speech, Your Highness,” he replies softly and although his response wrenches a slight grin from his counterpart, it does nothing to hide his overall sombre expression. The tension that is clear on the prince’s features makes him appear a lot older than his actual age and the pallor of his skin as well as the slump in his shoulders betrays his exhausted state. Still, given the circumstances he has to commend his former disciple for his efforts to keep his composure upright.
“Still as adamant about the formalities as ever, I see.” If they both know that it is a rather weak attempt at his usual teasing, neither Chris nor Miyuki decide to bring it up. Almost instantly, his face turns serious once more. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I have been run over by our whole cavalry,” Chris admits with a rueful smile and just then starts to take stock of his body, especially the shoulder he knows might as well have been sliced off cleanly. The limb feels stiff and even with what he guesses are pain-dulling potions every effort to move it has him suppressing a pained groan. At the very least, considering the graveness of the wound, he should be grateful that he hasn’t lost his arm completely. However, some time needs to have passed since the incident for his injury to be treated this properly, and somehow he dreads the answer to his next question. “How long have I been asleep for?”
“Two weeks, give or take.” Miyuki’s thoughtful gaze lingers on the bandaged shoulder before returning to his. “You suffered from a bad inflammation and a fever, we weren’t sure if you would make it.” For those who know him closely, the solicitous shine in his eyes is all too evident. As bad as the situation is, some kind of gratefulness wells up in him at the thought.
“I apologize for making you worry about me. That being said,” he breaks off for a moment, contemplating on how to word his subsequent inquiry, while letting his eyes sweep over the rest of the room carefully. Several more futons were laid out but none of them occupied. “What about the rest of the party? To be honest, I cannot remember much after we were attacked.” At the way the other’s face falls, a feeling of dread overtakes him.
“Including General Kataoka, seven of our men were killed in the assault, we also lost two more to their injuries while they were being treated. Overall, only Miyauchi, Kusunoki and Azuma made it out completely unscathed, everyone else sustained minor injuries at the least.”
He has to close his eyes at the sudden wave of regret that crashes down him upon the brief report of their losses. Once more, he can see them all too clearly, scenes of the attack forever etched into his memories. Kadota Masaaki, who fell with three arrows in his chest. Endou Naoki, his throat sliced open like a bloody smile. Tanaka Shin, ran through over and over by an enemy’s sword. Yamaguchi Ken, who was the first to go, barely able to yell out a warning before he took an arrow to the head. The general– Why, he can’t help asking himself, even though he knows it’s pointless. Why was he the one to survive while so many others had to give their lives in such a cruel manner? Why–
“Chris.” The unusually soft tone of Miyuki’s voice rips him out of his self-deprecating musings, his expression sad and full of empathy. “What happened?”
Taking a deep breath, the alpha pulls himself together – now is not the time to be overly emotional. “We were just passing through Inashiro territory after completing the last part of our mission in Yura Sougou…”
The rain hadn’t stopped falling ever since they had crossed the border three days ago. Even though it didn’t slow them down by much seeing as their whole party was undertaking the journey on horseback, it was a pain to travel in cold and wet clothes, weighed down by their additional armour. However, even the weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of some of their members.
“Ah, as soon as we’re outta this shit rain an’ back in town I’mma find me someone to warm me up plenty!” It came as no big surprise that the loudest and crassest among them would be one Azuma Kiyokuni.
“Oi, Azuma, shouldn’t you maybe focus on losing a few pounds before talking like that? Are you sure there’s anyone willing to bed someone whose horse looks just about ready to keel over from exhaustion?” Bellowing laughter followed the comment from the back of their party while the alpha in question turned in his saddle to look for the perpetrator.
“Who said tha’?! Nobody makes fun of my charm point!”
“It’s true though, Azuma-san. Did you grow even larger compared to when we left?”
“Shut yer trap, Isashiki!”
“Remember when that omega kid challenged him and then managed to knock him flat on his ass? Man, that was great.”
“Ugah.”
“See? Even Masuko agrees!”
More laughter, barely interrupted by Azuma’s yells of “Damn brat jus’ got one lucky hit in!”.
Near the front of the party, Chris took the whole ruckus in stride with an indulgent smile.
“It is good to see them this lively, even after several weeks on the road,” he mentioned and turned to the man riding next to him, who registered his comment with a curt nod but nothing else.
The reaction caused a slight frown to cross his own features; not that it was too out of the ordinary for the general to appear as a man of few words, but ever since they had left their last destination he seemed to be even more brooding than usual. The whole thing was even more peculiar given that the last stop had been Yura Sougou, where Kataoka had had a private conversation with his former teacher and mentor, Sakaki Eijirou, the content of which he hadn’t disclosed to anyone, not even to Chris himself. Seeing as they had discussed everything regarding this mission between them up until now, the issue left him thoroughly confused. Steeling himself for either the silent treatment or a gruff rejection, he finally decides to approach what had his thoughts busy for the past few days.
“I trust that your talk with Sakaki-san went well?” His question is voiced in a low tone, barely audible among the noise created by those around them; as much as he would trust these men with his life, some topics could cause terrible results if picked up by the wrong ears.
Although his inquiry was met with silence, he decided to wait a little longer before throwing in the towel; after all, he was nothing but patient. And finally, when even he himself wouldn’t have expected an answer anymore, the general turned towards him, his eyes blazing with an unexpected intensity.
“As soon as we get back, I will call for a meeting with the King,” he began gravely, “Some delicate matters have been brought to my attention that need immediate action.” It was clear that he wouldn’t say any more on the issue in that moment, still Chris couldn’t help but wonder; what had the general so alarmed as to keep him from mentioning it anywhere else but the safety of the palace walls?
Mulling over the matter silently, he barely noted that they were exiting the treeline and starting their trek along the riverside, a stretch of steep cliffs to their left the only thing between them and the thundering stream far down below the ravine. It was one of the only parts of their route where they were this out in the open, since they tended to stick to woodland and less travelled paths so as to draw as little attention to them as was possible with an entourage of around twenty people.
A little ahead of them, Yamaguchi decided to brave the rocky trail first, his dappled charger prancing nervously while trying not to lose its footing. The sturdy soldier had his eyes set on the nearby woods, seemingly searching for something in the dense covert. Suddenly, Chris’ senses were tingling, and not in particularly good way.
“What is it, Yamaguchi?”
“I’m not sure, I thought– Somethin’s not right,” came the reply and not a moment later, an iron-tipped arrow embedded itself in the guard’s forehead with a sickening noise.
Within a split second, all hell broke loose.
More arrows came raining down upon them, and through the sound of horses neighing in panic and pain, he could just make out a bunch of men clad in dark garments and nondescript armour leaping at them with resolute war cries. Unsheathing his own sword, he readied himself for battle while the soldiers behind him dashed forward as quickly as the difficult terrain allowed to meet the oncoming enemies with yells of their own.
One of their opponents seemed to have set their sights on him, as he just barely evaded another missile aimed directly at his head before his horse buckled from underneath him with a pained cry and sent him sprawling on the ground. As soon as he had straightened up again, it was only thanks to his exceptional reflexes that he wasn’t cleaved in two right away. He parried the next blow aimed for his heart and thrust his sword into his adversary’s chest, taking no time to pull the now bloodied weapon out of the dying corpse in front of him. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the general fighting his way through the enemy lines, bellowing out encouragements to his men all the while. He didn’t have much time to ponder on the others’ fate, though, when he was faced with his next opponent soon enough. Skewering the man before him within seconds, he realised that they were still severely overpowered, the other side having the advantage of surprise and momentum on their side completely.
Feeling a familiar presence next to him, he only had a moment to turn and acknowledge Tanaka before a blood-red blade stuck out right from the other’s gut, vanishing before reappearing once, twice, thrice in different locations. His eyes wide open, his gaze was still fixated on Chris, while a bloody trickle made its way from his lips. With an enraged yell so uncharacteristic of himself, he made short work of the perpetrator and only when he had made sure that there was no imminent threat in his near vicinity did he take another look around.
Bodies were lining the ground, both friend and foe alike, and he felt positively sick when his view fell upon some of his comrades’ corpses. At last, his gaze met the backside of who he recognised as Miyauchi, who was too distracted with his own opponent to notice the two sneaking up on him from behind. Resolutely, he jumped into the breach and decapitated the first one before countering the other’s strike and averting what might have been a fatal hit. However, his balance was lost in the action and the next thing he knew, his adversary’s sword came sailing down at him again. In that moment, he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to evade the blow completely, so he grabbed at the other’s arm with the hand not grasping his own weapon, thus at least trying to slow the force of the hit.
White-hot pain travelled down the right side of his body and had he been able to think clearly, he would have bet everything on his arm having been severed right off. A dull scream reached his ears and only belatedly did he realise that it came from himself. As if in slow-motion, he fell backwards with the enemy right on top of him and even in his affected state of mind, he managed to push his sword into the other’s side. When he met the ground, he must have hit his head on a rock of some kind, because suddenly everything went black for a few moments. When he came to, it was with a heavy weight on his chest and he could only barely make out the grey sky through all the blurriness.
For a minute, all he could do was lie there, and only then did he feel the rain pouring onto his skin again and seemingly numbing everything in the process. Screams, weapons clashing and men dying; in that moment, everything felt incredibly far away to him. He had to blink his eyes into focus several times before realising what he was looking at. Right at the very edge of his vision, the general was battling three opponents at once, and even laced with wounds of his own he held himself upright and looked solid as a rock. Parrying one strike, slashing down one mercenary, then another, but in the next blink of an eye, the remaining two, grappling with each other just a moment before, were gone. No matter how hard he tried to concentrate, his brain just couldn’t make any sense of the situation, nor of the fact that all of a sudden, the enemy seemed to retreat.
What was left were a handful of their soldiers in various states of health, either staring after the fleeing forces helplessly or already tending to the wounded. However, before he could ponder the situation any longer, his body gave out at last and everything went black.
“So they waited for you to pass through that stretch before attacking,” Miyuki sums up the information he has just received. “That conforms to what the others could tell us so far. What bothers me is that they retreated right after General Kataoka fell. As if their main goal was to make sure that he was taken care of.”
“I had the same thought,” Chris admits while trying to get a little more comfortable. His head aches something fierce after retelling the details of the incident. “Did you find him?”
Something in the prince’s face hardens at that. “We did. Or rather, what was left of him.”
Whatever promise he had for his superior’s survival vanished in that instance. Although he hasn’t had much time to think about what happened yet, considering the other’s sheer indestructible nature and bullish character he has hoped–
“Are you certain it was him?” He just has to make sure.
“We found a corpse down in the ravine. Even though it was unrecognisable due to the fall, it had his statue and wore parts of his armour.” Miyuki shakes his head regretfully. “No one could have survived a tumble off that cliff, not with those crags awaiting them.”
He can’t say he has expected anything else, really. Deep down, in that moment on the battlefield when he had lost sight of the imposing figure, he knew. Still…
“We held the funeral four days ago.” For a moment, the other’s features turn indiscernibly soft. “I’m sorry you couldn’t attend it.”
“Thanks to the healers, I will have time to mourn,” Chris objects, shutting that part of him away for now. “But we have other things to worry about right now.”
The prince nods his head, his face again a blank mask of determination. “Father has called for a War Council to be held, but he wanted to await what more you could tell us. If the General did indeed learn something of such importance that it would get him killed, we might be in even bigger trouble than we thought. It doesn’t help that we couldn’t figure out who sent the attackers and that it happened on Inashiro territory.”
“What do you have in mind?” he inquires, seeing as his counterpart has that air around him, like he is deep in thought and just about to figure something out.
However, before either of them can resume their conversation, they are interrupted by yelling outside, something akin to “You can’t go in there!” right as the door is thrown open and a person barrels their way towards him. Immediately, he is on high alert and ready to defend himself in case of another attack, but that urge disappears as quickly as it came when at the next second he finds himself enveloped by a crushing hug.
“Chris-senpai!”
Ah, that answers that question; there is only one person who would, one, be stupid enough to enter the healing wing with the attendants’ explicit prohibition, and two, wail his name in that high-pitched voice caught somewhere between exhilaration and worship. Despite the ache in his shoulder at the contact, he can’t help smiling affectionately. Miyuki doesn’t seem to share the sentiment, since the perpetrator is pulled away from him after another second.
“Stupid, you’re aggravating his injury!”
It is almost comical how quickly those joyful features turn remorseful almost instantly. Still in the alpha’s grasp, he bows down deeply.
“This lowly omega apologises for hurting you, Chris-senpai!” When he straightens back up, he already wears his puppy-like expression once more. “But I had to visit as soon as I got the news that you’re going to be okay!”
“It is quite alright, Eijun,” Chris placates him and if the other had a tail, it might as well have been wagging ecstatically. “My wounds will take a little longer to heal, but I will be fine again in no time.” Before the younger can start to rant anew or pester his role model with questions, Miyuki decides to intervene, though not without a soft expression of his own.
“Baka, you’re disturbing his sleep. And I bet you’re ditching your lessons right now.”
A guilty look tells them that his assumption is spot-on, though not surprising to any of them. And despite his usually tenacious attitude once he has set his sight on something, the previous warning seems to have done the trick. Wiggling out of the prince’s hold, he bows in a right angle once again.
“I didn’t mean to disturb you, Chris-senpai! I hope you recover soon and shall resume my duties now!” And out of the door like a whirlwind he goes again. In his wake, Miyuki heaves a deep sigh.
“That idiot, always causing trouble,” he muses, but no insult could lessen the affection Chris can see in his eyes clear as day; honestly, who were those two even fooling. “That being said, you really should rest now, you’ve only just woken up.” As he stands and makes to leave, Chris calls him back one more time.
“Send a messenger to Yura Sougou, maybe Sakaki-san can shed more light on what this is all about.”
“Will do, thanks Chris-senpai.”
He foregoes admonishing the other again and after his exit, even in the henceforth silence of the room, he knows that sleep won’t come easily.
-------------
Eijun
To say that Eijun is in a bad mood would be a huge understatement. The funeral of the general and the other soldiers, some of whom he knew personally, has been a bleak affair and the mood throughout the palace dark and serious ever since. Accordingly, it comes as no surprise that barely anyone is up for training these days or does so only half-heartedly. After the first time he crashed into Chris-senpai’s room in the healing wing, he hasn’t been allowed to visit the other either; something about him disturbing the patient’s rest with his attitude and overall demeanour. Additionally, his dreams have been acting up yet again, shaking him up almost every night without making any more sense than before.
The greatest loss, however much he would deny it, is Kazuya; as it is, he barely sees him at mealtimes, the other too caught up in whatever is going on behind closed doors, meetings, official talks and the likes and even when he passes him in the corridors, he seems broody and less inclined for their usual banter. Gosh, he never thought he would see the day he misses Miyuki Kazuya snarking at and teasing him.
The only upside is that his best friend has just finished his heat and thus has time to spare again; although his understanding of spending time together does not necessarily include this.
“Harucchi, can’t we just–“
“Eijun-kun, no.”
“You didn’t even know what I was going to say!”
“Let me guess, you would propose that we bail on our lessons and instead sneak out into the city.”
“So you do understand me!”
Haruichi heaves an exasperated sigh at that and shoots him a stern glance. Damn, ever since he cut his bangs, his glare is downright terrifying.
“You know Mine-san isn’t going to let you down easily if you cut classes again,” he admonishes and Eijun feels himself getting just that tiny bit smaller.
It’s true, in the past he didn’t exactly earn himself the reputation of being overly diligent with his studies, but he can’t help it; with their teacher droning on and on about the history of Seidou, the Western and Eastern forces, trade alliances and peace agreements, he just doesn’t get why he has to know all this stuff. It’s not like he is ever going to be someone important, like a prince for example, so there’s no need for him to learn the name of every village and settlement under their and their allies’ protection, is there? Therefore, his time would be much better spent doing some exploring, out there where real life was happening. Talking to the people of the kingdom, seeing how and where they lived; why couldn’t anyone else see the fascination in these normal day-to-day matters instead of sitting in an ivory tower and learning about times long past?
However, Haruichi isn’t one to be deterred easily, and so he lets himself be dragged towards their usual study chamber, where their teacher is already waiting for them. Mine Fujio is someone Eijun could come to admire if it wasn’t for his – in his eyes – boring lectures; having travelled all over the country in his youth, he has dedicated himself to recording his findings and by now is a well-known scholar with many a book published under his name. He has been teaching at the palace for about ten years now and during this time has become well accustomed to Eijun’s quirks and excuses. Sometimes, he would let him off rather easily, as he seemed to be fond of the young omega in his own way, but on other occasions the compensatory workload is positively brutal. Thus, if he can help it, he really doesn’t want to add even more tasks on top of his daily regimen.
“Today I would like to start off with some political basics,” he begins and Eijun can’t quite keep a low groan to himself, which gains him a definitely unimpressed sideways glance.
“But Mine-san, we’ve talked about the Eastern realm like a thousand times already!”
The Eastern realm denominates a confederation of several autonomous kingdoms, in a way similar to their own league with the houses of Inashiro, Ichidaisan and Yakushi. The majority of its forces is made up of the realms of Teito, Seikou, Oya and Ugumori as well as smaller villages. Seeing as their territories are located right next to their own Eastern border, tensions have tended to arise more often than not in the past. As of late, there have been efforts towards a joint economical and military pact between the Western and Eastern countries; however, negotiations have turned out to be arduous due to partly large differences in opinion and requirements. Due to the strategic nature of the two realms’ relations, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their lessons have covered this particular topic in abundance.
“If you could actually keep the things I teach you in mind, we would not have to repeat them this often, Eijun-kun. And if you had let me finish, you would have known that that is not what we are going to talk about this time,” he admonishes patiently while opening a map showing a whole other stretch of lands than expected. “Today’s topic is the Northern Alliance.”
At that, he perks up instantly; despite the common assumption that he is lazy and at times plain dumb when it comes to studying, he actually likes learning about new territories and cultures, he just isn’t overly fond of memorising year dates and names of ‘important’ people. Honestly, who even has the brain capacity to remember all that stuff? Besides Haruichi, that is. The only question remaining would be why their lecturer seems so keen on talking about the North now when he has always left out that particular topic before. Of course, it may have something to do with the current political situation, but as omegas of the court, sadly they weren’t privy to much information in that regard.
“The main forces behind the Northern Alliance are the realms of Gunma and Nagano,” Mine explains while pointing out the location of the two kingdoms on the map. “Little is known about life there, as the people tend to be very conservative and reclusive, at least in the face of the Western and Eastern realms. In fact, there have been several attempts to strike up an agreement with the Alliance’s leaders, but so far they have decided to refrain from having anything to do with whom they perceive as outsiders.”
“Have you ever visited the northern territories, Mine-san?” Haruichi raises his soft voice in an unusual bout of active participation. The beta nods at his question.
“I have, back during a time when the leaders were not as distrustful as they appear to be now. The only ally they seem to be in close contact with nowadays is the kingdom of Hokkaidou, an island all the way up in the countryside.”
“That’s where Furuya moved to!” Eijun interjects immediately, recognising the province’s name at once. A familiar feeling of joy fills him when thinking of one of his best friends growing up, whom he hasn’t seen in about two years now. After the death of his grandfather, the only relative he had around these parts, the young beta had had to move back up north to where his remaining family members lived. Hearing about the strained relationship between the northern realms and theirs shoots a small pang through his heart; as inseparable as the three of them – him, Haruichi and Satoru – were during their childhood and youth days, as unlikely does the possibility to one day see each other again sound now.
“Now, do not look so glum, Eijun-kun,” Mine seems to have read this thoughts correctly, “There are groups of merchants and envoys passing through our lands every now and then, though the distance is admittedly a large one.” He clears his throat curtly. “Back to the actual topic.”
What follows is a rough recollection of general customs and beliefs Northeners seem to hold, from how their convictions are more in tune with nature than their own, to a more pronounced equality between the dynamics in terms of positions and duties. As opposed to the usual lessons, Eijun soaks it all in greedily; there’s this unexplainable feeling in him that all of this is somehow crucial information he should gain as much knowledge of as is possible. At last, after another hour, the lecture turns towards the political leaders.
Although he still attempts to listen, he can hardly pay attention to Mine going an about Gunma’s principal city Hakuryuu and the relatively newly established Mima family’s lineage. The more he tries, the more it seems like his head wants to implode from some part deep within, and he has to rest his forehead in his palm for a while in order not to throw up.
“Are you alright, Eijun-kun?” Of course Haruichi, ever the observant one, would notice that something is amiss. However, he doesn’t want to worry his friend, so he forces a slight grin to come forward.
“I’m fine, just a headache.”
Though the other doesn’t seem to believe him completely, Eijun is thankful that he lets it go for the time being. And for the rest of the lesson, as their teacher continues to talk about military pacts and strategies, he can only ponder one thought;
What is going on?

Caviar Market Dynamics (including market size, share, trends, forecast, growth, forecast, and industry analysis)
Key Drivers
Exclusive restaurants and affluent hotel chains are spreading throughout the world to serve the customer's demand and inclination towards original cuisines. Also, contemporary retail chains such as hypermarkets and supermarkets are augmenting with the acquisition of rapid urbanization of the city, which has manifested to be a prominent driver for engendering the availability of exotic goods to consumers. This is attributed to the USD 800 million adoptions of souq by Amazon in 2017 and affiliation between Noon and eBay in 2018, which supplement the market size and lead to more demand for the caviar. Furthermore, it is rich in selenium, B12 vitamin, omega-3 fatty acids and is applied to restrict incompetency. Moreover, the accelerating demand of caviar and its different product extracts by pharmaceutical sectors to prepare capsules, tablets, and liquid forms of medicines for consumers to overpower their weakness. These factors together promote market growth. However, their high price, led by the requirement of a better quality of sturgeon roes which are very rare, will hamper the caviar market growth.
Product Segment Drivers
Based on the product, sevruga is projected to dominate the market over the forecast period. This is primarily attributed to their remarkable flavor and texture compared to osetra. Furthermore, they are more economical than oestra, which is further paving the way for raising caviar market share.
Regional Drivers
Based on the regional coverage, Asia-Pacific is predicted to witness a higher CAGR over the forecast period. This is mainly due to the prevalence of leading players. For instance, Xiamen Qilei Industrial Co., Ltd., Jiamusi Import, and Export Corp. China and Azuma Trading Co., Ltd. are some of the major producers of this product with robust existence in the market. Furthermore, health benefits associated with the product, increasing spending capabilities of the consumers, and expansion of distribution channel has driven the growth of caviar industry.

Natto Market  Key Drivers & On-going Trends 2018 – 2028
A traditional Japanese dish prepared by fermenting soybeans with Bacillus subtilis, Natto forms a healthy breakfast food. It satisfies the demand of customers for the healthy product at lower cost, especially in Japan. Other countries such as U.S., U.K., Germany imports Natto from Japan. According to various reports, Japanese population alone consume about 7.5 billion packets of natto each year while enjoying long lives—85 years for women and 78 for men. On the contrary, American lifespans average 79.1 years for women and 74.1 for men. Natto appears to be uncanny and has an absurd smell, but it’s highly nutritious. Natto offers several health benefits, including preventing strokes and heart attacks, increasing bone density, promoting weight loss, aiding digestion, and decreasing risks of cancer. Natto is gaining popularity among the consumers who long for food safety. Also, senior citizens living alone find it convenient to consume natto as it can be bought & eaten with ready-to-eat food at supermarkets. Many studies state that younger population doesn’t contribute to the Natto market due to the sticky texture & strong odor it carries. They prefer other soy products over Natto.
Japan is the biggest market for Natto (consuming 125,000 MT Natto daily), which is prepared by importing soybeans from countries such as United States. Natto is also gaining market in the U.S. as American Soybean Association along with U.S. Soybean Export Council created an award given to the Natto which is made with U.S. soy. The idea behind is to promote the use of U.S. Soy in the Natto industry.

Reasons for covering this title
The demand for Natto is high with increased production & export of soybean to Japan in return for creating a market opportunity for developed countries in Natto industry. The population in developed nations are focused towards consumption of healthy products. Growing awareness & knowledge about the health benefits of soybean is creating a market opportunity for Natto resulting in increased imports of the product from Japan. The developed economies are also moving a step ahead & manufacturing the product domestically as they are already rich in production of soybean. Soybean imports have been constant in Japan from last 2 years (1650 thousand MT) (Source: USDA), hence supporting the fact that developed nations are heading towards manufacturing in-house Natto.
Another reason behind covering the title is the growing applications of Natto. Previously Natto used to be available at supermarkets in packaged form, however, now it is also available in the form of supplements called Nattokinase. Nattokinase is an enzyme which is extracted from Natto and is available in the form of supplements. It helps in preventing & treating hypertension, seasonal allergies like sinus, and blood clots.

Natto is also available in the form of cosmetic products. The companies sell natto skin moisturizers which help in capturing & storing moisture in the skin.
Global Natto Market – Key Players
Some of the key players operating in the global Natto market are – Captek, CP Kelco, Japan Traditional Foods Inc., MegummiNatto, Azuma Shokuhin Co., World Food Processing
In March 2017, Mizkan in Aichi Prefecture released a product called "Kume natto," made up of large-size domestic soybeans. Because of which sales increased between March and August 2017 by nearly 10 percent
In June 2012 CP Kelco entered into functional skincare with AquaMAX™ product line manufactured by fermented soybeans such as Natto.
Market Opportunities –
The aging population is creating a market opportunity for the Natto market.  In 2010, an estimate of 534 Million people grew older than 65 which is 8% of the world’s population. It is expected that the number will be tripled by 2050 to 1.5 billion creating opportunities for our target market.
Also, there is an untapped opportunity for the younger population who do not contribute to the overall market because of the basic features of Natto. The Natto federations are launching natto-themed competitions in schools & colleges in order to enhance its consumption among the younger generation.

September 10th, 16:00 from Azuma Sports Park, Fukushima
The first of three Destruction shows sees Minoru Suzuki defend his NEVER title against Michael Elgin in a lumberjack match, with the six-man and heavyweight tag titles also on the line. Let’s get to it.
And we’re back! It’s been three weeks since the G1 final and I don’t know about you, but for me it was a welcome break. There’s only so much good wrestling I can take. But seriously, the downtime is smart for wrestlers and viewers alike, and I’m looking forward to these shows over the coming weeks.
With October’s King of Pro-Wrestling already shaping up, it would fair to describe the trio of Destructions as B Shows. They’re effectively one excellent card split into three. That’s not to say they won’t be decent and, in fact, the benefit of this method is that we get to see the likes of Michael Elgin, Zack Sabre Jr. and Juice Robinson in main event spots, titles (every one of which is being defended at least once) are given a brighter spotlight, and young talent is more heavily featured. That said, there is unquestionable some filler here, and with that in mind…
Here we go…
Hirai Kawato & Yuji Nagata vs. Shota Umino & Manabu Nakanishi
Umino looks noticeably bigger than he did during the G1 tour. Perhaps he’s been at Kitamura’s protein shakes. In any case, the veterans briefly went at it before tagging in their young partners, with the slightly more senior Kawato maintaining control while Nagata kept the referee occupied.  A dropkick from Umino enabled the return of a surly Nakanishi, who blocked an Exploder to slap legal man Nagata to the mat. A clothesline earned two, but Kawato flattened him with a springboard dropkick, then Umino returned only to be hit with an Exploder. Nagata cinched in the Nagata Lock II and Umino tapped straight away. Nakanishi can barely move, but Nagata winding him up raised a smile. *1/2
Monster Rage (Katsuya Kitamura & Tomoyuki Oka) vs. CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto)
I’m very pleased that Kitamura’s fanged gumshield has been retained. He started well against Yoshi, flooring him with a shoulder block and hitting a deadlift gutwrench suplex for two, but the CHAOS boys were soon in control, tagging back-and-forth, with Yoshi’s rope-hung dropkick and a double shoulder block getting two-counts. Kitamura powered Goto into a suplex, however, and Oka was tagged in, with a run of offence culminating in Kitamura’s spear and Oka’s elbow drop. Goto hit back with a clothesline, then applied a Boston Crab, but Oka was able to crawl to the ropes. Goto nailed his praying chest kick immediately after, though, and that was plenty for the three-count. Honestly, if this was your first time watching you’d think Kitamura and Oka were the established stars. **
CHAOS (Beretta & Jado) vs. Bullet Club (Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi)
Jado and Owens had an amusing little sequence before Jado landed the chops. He caught a boot to the face from a middle-rope whatever, and a much-delayed Flair Flop was followed by some mocking chops from Owens. A rebound clothesline allowed tags to be made, with Beretta brushing off both opponents before landing a tope con hilo to the floor! Back in, Yujiro crotched him on top and faceplanted him for a two-count, but a desperation tornado DDT brought Jado back in, and a bunch of kicks and a clothesline got two. Yujiro avoided the rope-hung DDT, took care of Beretta, then a fisherman buster followed by the Pimp Juice DDT earned the win. In this week’s Korakuen Hall shows, Yujiro had taken exception to Beretta’s heavyweight ambitions, but you wouldn’t have known it from this match. Another match than simply existed. **
David Finlay & Juice Robinson vs. Bullet Club (Leo Tonga & Bad Luck Fale)
Kenny Omega was supposed to appear here, but he’s taken a few weeks off to let a knee injury heal. He’s still due to defend his US title against Juice in two weeks’ time. In his place is Leo Tonga, the huge son of Haku and brother of the Guerrillas of Destiny. He debuted in Korakuen Hall this past Thursday.
Juice and Fale started off, but the former was caught by his dreads, allowing the big boys of Bullet Club to pummel him and Finlay, and it was quite sweet to watch Fale mentor his monster protege. Juice punched his way free of Tonga, then Fale took an accidental boot to the face and Juice and Finlay clotheslined him to the floor, where Finlay nailed him with a plancha. In the ring, Juice was rescued from Tonga’s chokeslam and Pulp Friction landed to put the giant youngster down for the three-count. You guessed it, this was: just a match. *1/2
Taguchi Japan (Ricochet, Ryusuke Taguchi, KUSHIDA, Togi Makabe & Hiroshi Tanahashi) vs. Suzuki-gun (Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado, TAKA Michinoku & Takashi Iizuka)
Tanahashi’s short hair is still weird, but Taguchi Japan is a stable that accepts any and all perversions. Suzuki-gun attacked as Taguchi was giving a team talk, but Iizuka was isolated and hit with a continuous train of offence from everyone apart from Taguchi himself, who kept getting kicked in the face. Iizuka then bit Taguchi’s derrière to enable his teammates’ return, and Kushida soon faced-off with El Desperado (next week’s challenger to his title) only to be locked in the Stretch Muffler. Kushida was able to make the tag to Ricochet, who ran wild on everyone with crisp offence, nailing Taka with a standing SSP and Taichi with a 619 and springboard clothesline. Tanahashi was in next, but he was tripped on the apron, and a distraction allowed Taichi to nail him with the ringbell hammer. Iizuka ripped off the taping on his arm and bit his still-injured bicep (psychology!), but Tanahashi hit back with a middle-rope crossbody and made the hot tag to Makabe. A powerslam to Kanemaru was followed by mounted punches to Iizuka, and a clothesline earned two. Taguchi was tagged, and he hit one hip attack before missing a protracted second, then the match broke down, but Taguchi used Taka’s finger poke against him and rolled him up for the win! This was fun, heated and a significant step up from the previous four matches (thankfully). ***
***INTERMISSION***
IWGP Tag Team Championship
War Machine (Hanson & Raymond Rowe) (c) vs. Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) vs. Killer Elite Squad (Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer)
Killer Elite Squad (part of Suzuki-gun) returned at the G1 final show, with Archer now recovered from back surgery and sporting some horrible cornrows. Tanga Loa is also wearing some horrible gear today, but presumably he’s just returned from his Sunday cycling club.
War Machine and KES traded shoulder blocks and slams in the opening exchange, then GOD interjected only for Loa to be hit with the Hart Attack and the fight spilled to the floor. Back in, Hanson was able to score some running clotheslines, but KES double-teamed him to take control and Davey Jr. nailed some kicks, a big boot and a leg drop for two. Hanson eventually fired back with a handspring elbow and seated senton out of the corner and the hot tag was made to Rowe, who exchanged Exploder suplexes with Loa. The Guerrillas took control with some sloppy offence and a double-team Tongan Twist set up the Guerrilla Warfare, but Davey Jr. interrupted and KES hit their Killer Bomb on Loa. Hanson then took them out with a rolling senton from the top-rope and War Machine planted Loa with Fallout to retain the titles.
Six foreigners just doing stuff with little purpose and no flow. At least previous examples of this match type had native teams for the crowd to get invested in. This was rubbish – irritatingly so. *
CHAOS (Will Ospreay & Tomohiro Ishii) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japón (Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito)
Naito and Ishii will face each other at King of Pro-Wrestling with Naito’s Wrestle Kingdom title shot on the line. On Twitter, Hiromu said Ospreay was a cat, which the latter initially denied, but like yesterday’s Korakuen Hall show he is wearing rudimentary cat facepaint. Curious.
Ospreay and Hiromu went at it with vigour, with the former taking out both opponents with a springboard dropkick. Ishii was tagged and went straight for Naito, whipping him into the guardrail outside before returning to the ring to take care Hiromu. He became distracted, however, and Hiromu and Naito took advantage by targeting his taped-up right leg. They brushed off strikes and scored a double-team seated dropkick, but the Stone Pitbull scored a delayed vertical suplex to enable the hot tag. Ospreay ran wild, nailing a corner dropkick and standing SSP to Hiromu, but was caught with a belly-to-belly into the turnbuckle and more tags were made. A pissed off Ishii fired away with chops and a powerslam, but Naito hit back with the slingshot corner dropkick and returned to the right leg. A low dropkick and spitwad further pissed off Ishii, and he turned Naito inside-out with a lariat, but the follow-up powerbomb was blocked by Hiromu. Ospreay flew in with a springboard clothesline to Naito and the rebound C4 for a two-count, then the OsCutter missed and Hiromu was back in for a super kick. Ospreay initially blocked Destino, but Hiromu distracted the referee and a low blow from Naito allowed it to connect at the second time of asking for the three-count.
A lively match and a good effort from all four men. The Naito/Ishii and Hiromu/Ospreay interactions were most enjoyable. ***
NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship
Los Ingobernables de Japón (SANADA, EVIL & BUSHI) (c) vs. CHAOS (Rocky Romero, Toru Yano & Kazuchika Okada)
The main issue here is between Okada and Evil, who face off at King of Pro-Wrestling for the IWGP title – a shot earned by Evil’s surprise win in the G1, but Okada also has the opportunity here to win his first-ever non-IWGP title.
CHAOS attacked before the bell, but Romero soon found himself in trouble after LIJ turned the tide effectively. Bushi choked Romero with his t-shirt and Evil’s senton earned a two-count, then Romero managed a jumping knee and flipped out of Evil’s fisherman buster to make the tag to Okada. The champ nailed Evil with a flapjack and locked in Red Ink, but Bushi broke it up and Evil utilised Sanada’s distraction to hit a sidewalk slam. A discus lariat and fisherman buster got two, Sanada was tagged, and Okada blocked his springboard dropkick and countered to a reverse neckbreaker. In came Yano, but Sanada caught him in a rolling cradle! One, two, no. Yano avoided the Paradise Lock, then they exchanged hairpulls before Sanada flattened him with a dropkick. Bushi followed with a missile dropkick, but Yano freed himself to bring in Romero. Bushi pushed him outside and nailed a suicide dive, but back in, Romero connected with Forever Clotheslines and, after the match momentarily broke down, hit Slice Bread #2 for a near-fall. LIJ swarmed and Bushi scored a Codebreaker and the MX only for Okada to break up the count, then Bushi was crotched on the top-rope by Yano, who in turn was tied him up in the ropes with the Paradise Lock. Evil ducked the Rainmaker and hit the STO, then Sanada used the Dragon Sleeper on Romero to set up Bushi’s top-rope MX! One, two, three and the champions retain.
Post-match, Gedo was brought into the ring and put in the Paradise Lock next to the prone Okada. Another good tag match here with plenty of intensity and chemistry between the teams. ***1/4
NEVER Openweight Championship Lumberjack Match
Minoru Suzuki (c) vs. Michael Elgin
This became a lumberjack match on Thursday, because Suzuki said it was and I’m guessing no-one wanted to disagree. And, as Nagata said on commentary, Suzuki-gun would’ve run-in anyway, but now it’s been made official. Suzuki was backed by Kanemaru, Taka, El Desperado and Taichi. Elgin was backed by Tanahashi, Ricochet, Taguchi and Kushida.
Surprisingly, both men decided to wrestling to get us started, with Elgin’s shoulder block sending Suzuki outside and his seconds sending Suzuki straight back in. Suzuki then gave us a demonstration of his own team’s seconding skills, and I think we’re all now familiar with the rules. They exchanged chops, then Elgin’s elbow strikes set up a slingshot splash for two. Elgin delivered a delayed vertical suplex, giving Suzuki-gun the middle finger as he did so, so Suzuki retreated to the floor and the lumberjacks faced off. Back in then back out again, and Suzuki took Elgin into the crowd while the lumberjacks brawled, then cracked him with elbows when they returned to the ring. Elgin was caught in the tarantula armbar, then sent to the floor, where Suzuki’s crew pounced.
Back in, Elgin and Suzuki traded elbow strikes, with Elgin demanding more until he was floored for a two-count. Suzuki smacked Elgin with a chair while the referee was distracted, but Elgin fired up and refused to use the chair, instead making the comeback with a running elbow and slingshot neckbreaker to a rope-hung Suzuki. Deadlift German suplex – two-count only. Front-and-back clotheslines from Elgin connected, but Suzuki blocked a lariat and nailed slaps and a Penalty Kick for two. They slapped and elbowed each other then, and once again a referee distraction brought in the lumberjacks. This time Elgin took care of them, then he planted Suzuki with a Falcon Arrow for a near-fall. Suzuki shielded himself with the referee to bring in Suzuki-gun again, but this time Elgin’s boys actually helped him out, culminating in Elgin tossing Taka onto everyone outside and Ricochet scoring a Sasuke Special. In the ring, Elgin hit a buckle bomb and the Elgin Bomb, but Taichi dragged out the referee and here were Killer Elite Squad followed by War Machine. Once they’d dealt with each other, Iizuka was in to stab Elgin in the throat with his metal mitten and Suzuki spiked Elgin with the Gotch-Style Piledriver! One, two, three.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen so many run-ins and shenanigans in a match, even with the lumberjack stipulations. The crowd seemed to be into so there’s that. It was a decent enough brawl otherwise, though far from great. I guess I’ll go: ***
Post-match promo from Suzuki and we’re out.
Final thoughts: The weakest New Japan show of the year. The main event was fine (YMMV) and there were three other pretty good matches, but frankly this was a slog and the tag title match was as poor a title match as I can recall seeing. There’s nothing here you need to go out of your way to see. Thankfully, next weekend’s show looks much, much better on paper, so let’s hope this was an aberration.
I’ll be back next Saturday for the unfortunately named Destruction in Hiroshima, which is headlined by Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and KUSHIDA vs. El Desperado. See you then.
