i dont watch a lot of shows, but its been a while since i saw such an emotionally charged confrontation in a bl show. i believe great acting can elevate any confrontation scene (even if the conflict was contrived) but uh here, we knew this all along. we knew the pain was coming, i did, it was delicious, and braced for impact but i still am in shambles. wei lili packing random packets of food from the house for yuan, unable to focus on eating when yuan sits with that face, getting him to pass stuff just to talk to him. a resounding 'tell me, what's wrong?'. never have siblings been so real lol. also, i deeply appreciate the character of Sanpang, cause i think he's supposed to be the reflection of society, but in a far more gentler, loving way for he actually does care for both of them. lol he himself doesn't know 'what's wrong' exactly, just that something should be cause yk it's Wei Qian. also, he's far more nicer than in the novel i've heard. and not homophobic at the very least.

So, he canonically does Ballet. I like to indulge myself in the idea that it was an idea Splinter had to help little Mikey with coordination and Balance. But I specifically like to think that Splinter got the idea from clicking through TV Channels and stumbling upon a Rerunn of Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses-

That Mikey just happened to see and be totally fascinated by. And Splinter just went: Lots of benefits, a fun Hobby and Mikey is happy? Why not, let me pull up tutorials on YouTube.

And then Raph got curious when he saw Mikey practicing foot positions in full concentration, asked what he's doing and got an earful of Mikey rambling how he's trying to learn ball-et, to become just like Genevieve.

And that's how they both got a hardcore Barbie Fanphase of five years, that kickstarted ballet sessions (where Mikey like really wanted to perfect everything and Raph basically just went along, because it's fun and different) and a deeper fascination of classical ballet. They did that up until they stopped being Best friends and started doing their own thing more (this a reference to a planned but scratched episode that was supposed to happen in season two).

(Sometimes Donnie and Leo joined their sessions as well, but they couldn't get as into it as Mikey and Raph could. It was mostly to mess around and to spend some more time with their brothers)

Growing up with ppl telling u how lucky u are to be a twin and how cute and unique twins are and “I wish I had twins” or “I wish I was a twin”. Meanwhile ur twin is beating ur lights out every other day (as siblings do) and u hate her guts so so much. And all u want is for ppl to see you bcus u just want to be seen as an individual and not like a doll in a set, but everyone only sees u and ur sister, twins. So ur mom dresses u in matching outfits and ppl call u ur sister’s name (ur not identical ur just so strongly associated with ur sister that even ur friends and teachers who u like to believe care about u and value u don’t even see u as a separate person). And meanwhile ur suffering with some bad gender dysphoria which u keep trying to voice but no one’s listening—and being treated like a cute girly accessory is not helping.
