Bumbleby Big Bang Post #2
...okay, so full disclosure: this isn't an official second BBB post from me. Clickbait-y title is clickbait, and I do apologise.
We are only supposed to have 1 story entry per person per year, understandably to not overload one's self with too many projects, and not only have I already uploaded on 13th December, but the last post was yesterday, Christmas Eve 2023, by the incredible pugoata.
Even then, this subject was discussed rather at length within the BBB Discord Server little over a month ago, even as a silly little idea a few people threw around. As per the rules of the Big Bang:
"Do not discuss your BBB ideas in the server, or in public, at all"
As this was indeed a BBB idea discussed within the server, it cannot be entered officially as a story.
But from the simple question posed "What would it look like to write a Bees Story from a perspective other than the Bees?", that stupid idea was in my head. And then due to a mental health nosedive, I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands, and a crazy idea in my head to follow through with after that brief talk.
And thus, 3 weeks later, this. Despite waiting until Christmas Day itself to post, it is not itself a festive story. Just wanted to put that out there before expectations were formed.
I held off posting so that everyone could enjoy the fruits of everyone who worked on their BBBs' labour, but now with that buffer out of the way, I'd give you something for the next couple of days worth of binging. I thought I'd also offer out to anyone who wanted to give it a shot:
Any artists who want to draw part of this story - so long as you credit this story as the inspiration, you have my full permission to do so!
So behold, my second (albeit unofficial) story written for this year's BBB:
The Diary of The Bumbleby

All images were made by me using the website Hero Forge for custom D&D Miniatures, as I cannot really art properly but I wanted there to be something for people to look at that could be thrown together fairly speedily.
There are the rest of images below the cut that should appear in the story (hopefully 🤞), but it does contain minor spoilers within, so proceed with that knowledge at your own discretion.

June 16 1999
The next morning I wake up to find Dad in the kitchen and on the phone with brands offering sponsorship for my training.
They say once you turn eighteen, you can have all the freedom you want because you are officially an adult—but not me. I’m stuck with my parents forcing me to live their dream.
To be honest, mom and dad weren’t this ‘strict’ before Kirra passed away, well at least that’s what I can remember when I was six. . . but we don’t talk about that. They don’t want to remember and it makes me sad because it feels as if he didn’t even exist. I still secretly keep Kirra’s photos in my wallet though, I like to believe he keeps me safe. My older brother who’s stuck at the age of thirteen.
June 20 1999
"Not again!"
You tossed the pen onto the desk and stood as the roar of a motorcycle filtered upward through the floors of your room. Your eyes narrowed and your hands clenched.
Stephen was being a jerk next door, that guy somehow suddenly decided it was a great idea to 'check' his engines everyday—was down there making way too much noise and thoroughly crushing your concentration.
Irritated by the racket, you stalked to the door and then went out then down the stairs.
You took the shortcut toward the garage to get to his house quicker. You emerged from the sliding doors mad as a hornet. How dare he crank and throttle those chrome and steel machines like that? His household could die of carbon monoxide poisoning or something for all he knew!
As soon as you stepped out onto the pavement, the heat hit you like a tonne of bricks, which not only made your mood even more miserable but also caused your carefully arranged wavy hair to become unruly. You were even more irritated as a result of the unruliness of your hair, you repeatedly slammed the table in the garage to get Stephen's attention, you were prepared to fight.
You noticed that Stephen had the exhaust of the motorcycle facing away from the house. There went your carbon monoxide death argument, you thought as you stormed farther in, to come closer to Stephen who was bent over his motorcycle.
Your footsteps slowed.
Jesus. The jeans he wore were, as usual, slightly clinging to his skin. The faded denim clung to his well-rounded ass, highlighting just how high and firm it was. In addition, the jeans cut down on the length of his legs and accentuated the narrowness of his hips. Furthermore, the waistband of the jeans was tucked around a tight waist, which further contributed to this effect.
The unbidden heat that surged through you distracted you from checking this man out behind his back— the heat irritating you even more. You took one more step forwards, your fists clenching into tight balls as your nails scraped across the palms of your hands.
You yelled, "Hey! Hey!"
Stephen stood up and turned with a grin on his handsome face. His bright blue eyes, a striking contrast to the messy black hair that swept over his high forehead—latched right onto your face then swept downward in a cocky and arrogant way that not only ticked off the last box that held your anger in check but made you suddenly and painfully aware that your stomach was producing its butterflies again.
He purred, "Can I help you, neighbour?"
Your lips went flat. His eyes landed right on your lips when he said that too.
Fuming now you said, "You know that I'm trying so hard to make art. I need you to stop being an a-hole right now."
He cut the bike off. Silence echoed through the large garage. He leaned against the bike and his sweaty tee shirt clung to the washboard abs and broad shoulders below it.
He lifted an eyebrow. "How am I being an 'a-hole?'" Stephen quotes with his fingers.
"I can't hear myself think up there!"
"I see."
Your teeth ground together so hard you heard her molars squeaking, "I am sure that you do. Now how about you keep it quiet for a little while?"
Stephen laughed, "You do know that I have to run my motorcycle in order to make sure that they run?"
You grunted as your eyes narrowed to slits, "You do know that I'm trying to get a scholarship and my future is at actual stake here?"
Stephen pushed away from the bike in one long and lither motion that sent your heart crashing around your chest. Your tongue quickly crosses your lips. Your legs went liquid as he walked toward you, his body moving with a feline grace that made you wonder if he moved like that in—STOP IT (Y/N). HE'S DONNA'S BROTHER.
Goddammit! The man had been the bane of your existence since he had moved in next door and now here you were, dealing with him all over again when you damn sure had too much to handle as it was that day. Not just that, now your concentration would be shot for at least an hour even if you did get the stubborn jerk to stop making all that racket.
"I'll make you a deal."
You gaped at him, "A deal?'
"Yes, a deal. Surely you understand the art of making a deal."
The man was infuriating! Sexy, and totally infuriating!
"I absolutely understand deals," you said stiffly, "I try to never make them because someone always ends up on the losing end of something."
He chuckled. That chuckle was low and rumbling, it sent little streaks of fire running along your skin.
Stephen pushed a lock of his dark hair off his forehead. His blue eyes swept over you again. He said, in that throaty growl of his, "Oh I doubt either of us would lose anything at all in this deal."
Your foot tapped into the concrete of the floor. Your eyes narrowed. The last thing you wanted to do was make a deal with him. Hell, just coming down there and even bothering with him was a huge waste of your time and you knew it.
"What is it?" The sharpness in your voice didn't make his stupid grin diminish a single bit. He tucked a thumb into a belt loop. His finger pointed downward, and naturally your eyes had to follow that pointing finger to the front of his jeans.
You jerked your eyes back up and glared at him. Stephen's smile not only got wider, it held a mischievous edge that made your pulse careen upward into a hard and fast rhythm.
He said, "I'll keep it down if you agree to go to St. Claire Mountain."
Was he nuts? He had to be!
No way was you were going to agree to go hiking alone with him. Your father will ground you until the day you get married.
Your arms came up and crossed over your chest, "Alone with you in the middle of nowhere? No."
"I didn't say anything about being alone—but you seem to always jump into that conclusion"—Stephen narrows his eyes—"suit yourself but I have to warn you, I really need to get this bike finished and I'm going to need a damn good reason not to."
"You're blackmailing me?" The incredulity in your voice was real.
"I call it bargaining."
Your cheeks went scarlet as anger and a thrill you did not want to admit to feeling coursed through you. "I call it illegal."
Stephen roared laughter, "I'll keep that in mind, so are you in or out?'
"You're serious? I mean, you're really serious! You honestly think I am going to agree to go hiking with you just because you promised to do the right thing, the thing you should be doing anyway?"
Stephen dusted his long slender hands off. "Yup."
"Ugh! You're so annoying!" You grunted and stormed out and back to your house, muttering the whole way.
The nerve of that guy! To think you would go out with him just because he would keep down the level of noise, which he should be doing anyway?
Your shoulders tensed as you got back into your room and right when you sat back down at your desk, Stephen began his racket again.
"Ah! Seriously! I'm going to lose it!" You covered your ears and flailed around on your chair.

June 21 1999
You were grounded from driving your car for a while even though it wasn’t your fault the stupid fuel line dislodged—your father used the reason ‘it’s because of the treacherous terrains.’ What treacherous terrains? The campsite wasn’t even in the mountains.
You had no choice but to use your sky blue cruiser bicycle, of course with a cute basket at the front to put Figaro in whenever you take him out with you for errands. You just finished your shift at LYLY’s and in your basket an assorted bouquet of flowers, consisting of pastel pink peonies, hydrangeas, magnolias and baby’s breath.
You parked your bike in the opened garage, carefully carrying the bouquet in your hand as you passed through the laundry room and into the kitchen, “I’m home.”
“Hey honey! Welcome home.” Vanessa greeted you back and instantly noticed the bouquet in your hand, "Oh my, what beautiful flowers you got there. Who gave them to you?"
"Mom! No one, it's from LYLY's I thought I could bring some home to liven up the place." You went around the counter and gave your mom a kiss on the cheek.
"Have you had afternoon tea?" Vanessa asked when suddenly the doorbells rang, "I'll get it."
"Okay." You crouch down to find a vase for your flowers. You then separated the hydrangeas from the rest and soaked its petals in cool water.
"Donna's here, love," Vanessa announced as she walked back into the kitchen with your friend, "Do you want any drinks, love?" She asked Donna.
"Oh no, I'm fine. Thank you Mrs. (L/N), I'm just here to pick up (Y/N)."
You whirled around, "Huh? For what?"
"Did you forget? I booked us both for an art workshop this afternoon." She says very casually which causes you to question your own thoughts.
What workshop?
Donna could notice the confusion on your face and when Vanessa turns her back on Donna, she mouths, "You-me-hike," she points at you, then herself and makes her fingers walk in thin air. Vanessa turns back around and Donna flawlessly acts innocent in front of your mother.
“Oh! Riiiiight, the workshop! Yeah, It totally slipped my mind because of work.” You clapped your hands and nodded exaggeratedly, causing Donna to thin her lips and widen her eyes at you for being so obvious.
“Will you be back before dinner or will you be eating outside with Donna?” Vanessa asks and turns to you.
“I don’t know, we’ll see. Well I better get ready, Donna, do you want to come with me?” You asked as you dried your hands on the kitchen towel.
“Sure!” Donna beams, “Don’t worry Mrs (L/N), I’ll return (Y/N) before curfew!”
“Alright, be careful both you and enjoy!”
You dragged Donna up the stairs and into your room, only addressing your friend after you closed the door, “Hiking?!”
“Yeah! You, me and Stephen to be more specific,” Donna curiously goes around your room before dropping down to sit at the edge of your bed.
“I don’t think I’m even built for that.”
“Sure you are, you’re an athlete, aren’t you?” Donna raised her eyebrows and pointed at your trophy case and medals that hung on the wall, “Don’t worry, it’s not going to be pure hiking, they’ve built trails for us to walk on, you don’t need to get changed. You look cute in that dress.”
“It’s not going to be cold?”
“We’ll be walking, you’ll get hot.” Donna stands up, and grabs the backpack that was leaning against the foot of your desk, “Grab your stuff and draw—You can steal Stephen’s jacket if you get cold.”
“Hey!” Stephen’s muffled voice filtered through your window, “Are both of you ready?”
“Speaking of the devil.” Donna chuckles and turns around to see her brother putting on his dark sage waterproof jacket, “YEAH! Hurry up and pick us up! It takes one hour to drive from our house to (Y/N)’s place, you know!”
Stephen chuckles and spins his keys around his finger before waving at you from his room, as if he was teasing you, “Meet you there in five.”
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
The peaks of St. Claire Mountain are visible from Devonport on a clear day, and after looking at them through the window of Stephen's car for so long, you could no longer resist the fascination of the lush green cathedrals that St. Claire Mountain is known for. You put your hand out the window to get a feel for the wind as the vehicle started to make its way slowly through the winding roads leading out of the Devonport Valley. At the back of the car was filled with art supplies, probably for you and Donna.
The walk begins in a parking lot that is located. There is just one dirt route, and that's it. There are no other options. This is the point at which you will first become aware of the presence of nature. At first nature has to adjust to your presence. The squirrels scatter away as you walk towards them, and scurry up atop the trees. The birds silence their chirping simultaneously. Nature is hiding and watching, as an outsider is near, but it isn’t long before Nature continues what it was doing.
As you go down the trail, you will see that a group of birds have gathered together and are chirping in a variety of pitches and tones. The sound of the streams flowing slowly and steadily is soothing to the ears. You may experience a wide range of scents thanks to the abundance of plants and trees in the area. The aromas seem to be mingling with one another, producing a clean atmosphere that makes it appear as if it is simpler to take a breath.
It is when you get to the larger boulders that you know you are getting closer and closer to the top—but before you could follow the trail, the siblings prompted you to stop as they told you to follow them through the uncharted looking woodland.
You both gave them a look of reluctance.
“C’mon (Y/N), me and Stephen’s been here lots of times—We’ll take care of you.” Donna smiles and urges you to come, “The view this way is much prettier than the lookout, I just know you’ll love it.”
“It’s not that—it’s just. . .”
Stephen could see that you were struggling to find the words, “If it’s personal then don’t pressure yourself to say it if you’re not ready—Trust us, you’ll feel inspired when you see it.”
You look at Donna who smiled at you encouragingly, and reached her hand out for you, “Oh what the hell?” You shrugged and took her hand.
“Did you just say a bad word? That’s the spirit.” Stephen chuckles as Donna pulls you past him.
With Donna leading the way, she never let go of your wrist to make sure you don’t go astray even though Stephen was right behind you.
As the terrains get a bit rockier, Stephen both helps you and Donna walk through uneven terrains. Climbing up the small cliffs gives a bit of an exercise, but not an excruciating one. While Donna effortlessly jumps through a shallow rocky creek, you on the other hand need Stephen to assist you. You regretted wearing your converse instead of your runners since the soles didn’t have the best grip.
“Whoa!” The slightest misstep caused you to lose your balance and fall off a rock, but Stephen's quick reactions and strong hold ensured that you didn't even have the opportunity to fall to the ground. With Stephen's hand pressed firmly around your waist, you were sure that your heart will combust in any minute.
“Whoa. Have I got you trippin’ now?” Stephen asks teasingly while he pulls you up to your feet.
“Oh please, don’t flatter yourself—but thanks for catching me."
"Anytime."
“Alright you two, we’re almost there.” Donna chuckles, helping you get to her side of the creek and when you weren’t looking, Donna gave Stephen a suspicious gaze for his endless teasing of you.
"What?"
"I'm watching you." Donna squints her eyes and points two fingers at her brother, "Alright (Y/N)! It's just over here." Donna skips towards you and hangs her arms over your shoulder.
Once you get to the end of the tree line you know all of you have arrived there, but you don’t want to rush because you want to experience every bit of Nature possible.
The moment you and Donna stepped out of the forest, your eyesight was met by a meadow that looked as if it had stepped from the pages of a storybook. The grass was Eden-green and thigh-high to a thrush. The mountains in the distance had twin peaks that looked like Figaro's ears. It completes the view, as if the meadow and the rocky mountain in the background was a match made in heaven. It was paradise.
The aesthetics were not the only thing that appealed to the senses. Even the noises, scents, and tastes were completely out of this world. The sky that hung above the field was a beautiful sight to see. It was as far as the eye could reach, covered in a cocktail-blue dome that was punctuated with fluffy clouds. Squeaking swallows engaged in a game of life and death by chasing after whirling dragonflies. A lake the colour of neon blue was located somewhat off the centre of the meadow, and in it was a family of egg-yolk yellow ducklings who were swimming about after their mother.
The music of the meadow came to your ears above the sound of the water: the dawn chorus, buzzing midges and the whispering of the wind. You could smell the sweetness of wisteria and the caramel soft scent of wild flowers in the air. Your breath was stolen as well as the words you wanted to express.
"What do you think?" Donna asks, looking proudly at the scenery in front of you.
As soon as you took in the breathtaking scenery in front of you, Stephen couldn't help but crack a faint smile since he could see a gleam of delight in your eyes. When compared to the times when he sees you upset in your room, crumpling paper after paper on your overflowing trash can, it is almost as if he saw you become filled with life.
You cover your mouth, "I. . .I love it—saying it's beautiful is an understatement. I want to see this every day."
Stephen, who carried your backpack, pulled your sketchbook and stationery out and offered it to you, "Draw it then."
"Let's go to university together and be roomies." Donna locks her arms into yours and leans her head on your shoulders.
Donna brought a large quilt which she spread over a flattened grass area where all the two of you can sit and draw while Stephen enjoys the solace and takes a nap.
"What’s the name of this place again?" You asked while your focus still remains in sketching.
"I believe it's called Florentine Valley." Donna replies. She was setting up her new polaroid camera and she did the honours of snapping a photo of you candidly.
You gape at her, "Thanks for the warning."
Donna laughs softly and fans the film to quicken its development, "Don't worry, I never take any bad photos."
"Liar, you can't even take a photo of me properly." Stephen mumbled with his eyes closed.
"It's not the photographer, Stephen, it's all in the model. Unfortunately, you look like a hammer-head shark." Donna says through a giggle.
You burst out into a boisterous laugh as you leaned forward and back clutching your stomach, "A hammer-head shark!" You look at Stephen who looks nothing but amused and bursts out laughing again as you can sort of see the resemblance until tears are running down your cheeks.
Donna lightly hits your arm as she finds your laughter very contagious, "S-stop!"
"I-I can't—I," You look at Stephen again and fall on your back, "I can't breathe!"
"Glad my face brings joy into your souls." Stephen says sarcastically.
Donna calms down and wipes the side of her eyes, "Oh look!" She hands you the square film for you to look at. If you were being completely honest, Donna has shot a great candid photo of you.
"See, I told you." Donna utters as she leans close to you after noticing the softly smile on your face.
You looked at the image more closely, and then you discovered that Stephen was included in the picture as well. He seemed to be having a restful sleep with his hands folded behind his head, giving him a very handsome appearance.
"You can keep it if you want."
"Really? Thanks!"
"Hey sharkboy! Can you take a photo of us please?" Donna asks Stephen but gets ignored, "Stephen!"
"Hm, were you asking me?"
"Duh, who else?"
"I don't know. No one here's called sharkboy so. . ."
"Oh stop being a sulk and just take a photo of us." Donna shoves her camera onto Stephen’s chest and scoots beside you, putting on a wide toothy grin.
Stephen obliges to his sister's requests and peaks through the lens until he notices you with nothing but a tight-lipped smile, "(Y/N), smile. Look at Donna, she's smiling like a horse."
"HA-HA, shut up and take the photo." Donna threw some grass towards her brother.
Stephen chuckles and peaks once more before counting down, "(Y/N) big smile! 5. . . 4. . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1. . ."
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
A polaroid slipped out from the pages of the diary and onto Sasha’s chest as she flipped onto the next page. It was you and Donna, sitting at a beautiful meadow with a big smile on your faces, just as you described in your diary.
"Oh so that's Donna." Sasha tells herself, after seeing Donna in most of your photos. Sasha flips the diary in search of the candid photo Donna took but nothing else falls out.
June 24 1999
Donna and Stephen took me home right on time that evening. Mom just finished cooking dinner and Dad. . . Well he was home late again. It's kind of a bummer though, I seemed to have lost the photo Donna took of me. It probably slipped out of my pocket when we were making our way back down. Such a shame.
I really owe those two a lot. They were right, after spending time out of this room and this house, I felt much more inspired and with a rough sketch, I can finally start painting. Ever since I came to St. Claire Mountain with them, Stephen never made that annoying racket again. . . and it makes me wonder. . .
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
As Stephen enjoys his late breakfast, Victor ambles into the kitchen while he is still only half awake and plops down on a chair.
"Morning Vic. Are you sleepwalking or are you awake?" Stephen asks Victor who lazily pours froot loops in his bowl.
"I'm awake."
"I have a question and I think I need expert advice on this one."
Victor rubs his eyes before opening them with a big yawn, "Go on."
"My friend wants to help out this girl but the girl is a bit hesitant to go out, he wants to ask her again but she always stays at home. So what can he do?"
"Just knock on her window again and ask her."
Stephen scoffs, "Knock on the window, who are they? Romeo and Juliet?"
Victor blinks and looks at his brother dead in the eyes, "I'm not stupid Stephen, I heard you and (Y/N) talking when I got a drink in the kitchen last night."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Just."
"Ugh," Victor threw his head back, "Then annoy her into coming down to see you, that's what I do to all of you." He shrugs.
"Annoy her? Hm. . ." Stephen thinks while Victor takes a few spoonfuls of his cereal, glancing at his older brother from time to time. A cunning smile grew on Stephen’s lips, "I know just what to do. . ."
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪
Stephen and Victor are the only ones who aregoing to be at home for the next four days while the rest of them are at work, so Stephen decided to only purchase one pair of earmuffsto muffle the noise that he will be making forVictor's benefit.
For the past four days in a row, at the same hour, he has gone to his garage and revved the engines of his motorcycle in the hope that you will come down and show yourself so that he could ask you whether you have made up your mind.
And it worked.
Soaked in his own sweat because of the heat, he ignored you when he heard you slamming on the table behind him. 5. . . 4. . .3 . . .2—
"Hey! HEY!" You yelled at him, so he turned around with a victorious grin on his face which, to you, came off as cocky and arrogant at that time.
"Can I help you, neighbour?" Stephen asked innocently while his eyes raked over your irritated features and noticed your lips twitch as well.
"You know that I'm trying so hard to make art. I need you to stop being an a-hole right now."
He chuckles and reaches for the key to cut off the engines which was rewarded with complete silence in return while he leans against the motorcycle, hands pressed down on the seat, veins protruding against his skin because of the heat.
"How am I being an 'a-hole?'" Stephen raised his brow quizzically while quoting with his fingers.
"I can't hear myself think up there!"
That's the point. Stephen thought to himself.
"I see." He shrugs nonchalantly which seemed to have ticked you off some more.
"I am sure that you do. Now how about you keep it quiet for a little while?"
He laughed as if it was the most ridiculous thing you've asked him to do, "You do know that I have to run my motorcycle in order to make sure that they run?"
You grunted as your eyes narrowed to slits, "You do know that I'm trying to get a scholarship and my future is at actual stake here?"
I know. Stephen lets out a chuckle as he pulls himself up from the seat of his bike. He was able to tell that you were suddenly nervous just by observing the way that you batted your eyelashes. All because he approached you without breaking the connection between your gaze as he moved closer and closer to you till the very moment that he halted a half metre away from you.
Why did he feel such a strong desire to help you? Even he was at a loss for an answer to that question. It's possible that he was doing this because he wanted Donna to have a close friend when she goes to college, but it's also possible that he didn't want anyone else to be forced to do something they don't want, just like he had been forced to study medicine.
"I'll make you a deal."
You gaped at him, "A deal?'
"Yes, a deal. Surely you understand the art of making a deal."
"I absolutely understand deals," you said stiffly, "I try to never make them because someone always ends up on the losing end of something."
Stephen chuckles as he smoothes a strand of his dark hair away from his forehead. Once more, his icy blue eyes wandered over you. He said, in that throaty growl of his, "Oh I doubt either of us would lose anything at all in this deal."
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
Present Day — 2013
Stephen went through his closet looking for the stethoscope that his father had given him when he graduated from medical school. He had misplaced the stethoscope that he had purchased for himself, and he refused to use the one that was provided by the hospital. When he opened the next box, the contents appeared to be things that had been hidden away ever since he had moved into his lavish apartment. The stethoscope had been placed inside of that container.
When he opened it, he was surprised to find some memorabilia inside, as well as a polaroid photo adhered to the side of the box. Stephen took it out with great care and examined it. As a wave of relief washed over him, he slumped to the floor; he never imagined that he'd see this photo ever again.
While you were drawing a view of the valley, he traced his hand over the candid photo Donna had taken. It's been fourteen years since this picture was taken, and since he decided to keep it after you left it in his car after he and Donna dropped you back off at your home.
His reminiscent thoughts were interrupted by his phone ringing, "Hello, Doctor Strange speaking."
"Good morning Doctor, this is Luke from Hastings Real Estate, is this a right time to speak with you?"
"Yes, yes definitely."
"Awesome. My assistant received your inquiry about a house in Devonport and I'd love to let you know that the property is for sale—"
"How much?"
"Er— It’s for sale via auction, Doctor. The auction will be held in a weeks time–"
"Do you have a date?"
"23rd of July, Doctor. Would you like me to put you down as one of the buyers?"
"Give me one second. I'm just going to check my schedule." Stephen gets up, keeping the polaroid snapshot he was holding in his hand as he makes his way into his study to check his journal. As he turns the page, he notices that he is scheduled to have dinner with his colleague Christine, "Yeah, put me down as one of the buyers please. What's the time of the auction?"
"4PM, Doctor. I've listed you down. We'll see you on the 23rd of July, 4PM. Do you need the address?"
"No need. I know how to get there. Thank you."
"Alright, Doctor. Thank you for your time."
"Thank you. Bye, bye." Stephen hung up the phone and instantly dialled his colleague's number, "Hi Christine, listen, something very important came up,"—Stephen looks at the image of you in his hand—"and I'm going to have to cancel next week—I don’t know when I'll be available next. I will let you know. Bye."
He lets out a sigh and continues to look at your photograph for a little while longer before placing it on his desk. When he caught a glimpse of the time, he realised that he was going to be running behind schedule for a medical meeting, "Shit!"

I’m kinda new to the fandom, what’s the tea on the girl that wrote a diary about her relationship with Justin in hs? She apparently wanted to expose him for being a fake nice guy but eventually chickened out? Does anyone here know her @ or if any of that stuff is true at all? I also saw something about a verified acc of Justin that appeared to be on a dating site then he deleted it after he matched with a girl on there. That doesn’t sound like something Justin would do, but then again, what do I know? I’m just sipping tea ☕️
Welcome! Sorry for not answering this ask sooner - I've been traveling for work the last week and wasn't able to draft a complete response.
Firstly about the gf exposé rumours - those are unsubstantiated. His high school gf hasn't said anything publicly to insinuate that she was ever going to "expose" Justin.
IIRC the story was first published on some really dodgy gossip website (can't remember which one unfortunately) where it moved to twitter and then was submitted to DeuxMoi. DeuxMoi pretty much shot down the rumours as being bullshit and even said that she thought it was some weird smear campaign against Justin. It was uncovered on twitter that some Raiders fans were peddling the rumour so, again, nothing from the gf.
I personally believe the rumour was unfortunately started by people here on tumblr - primarily due to an old WordPress blog that the gf wrote as a teenager. People made a big fuss about the blog but honestly, having read it for myself, it's a whole lot of nothing - at least in regard to anything negative about Justin.
She says some stuff about how Justin didn't understand or love her right but this is all from her perspective. The blog delves into some seriously personal stuff about her family life so her complaints about Justin questioning where she's going at night and who with (from her words) isn't necessarily controlling behaviour; it could've been genuine concern for her.
I think people just focused too heavily on that one line and forgot how this is essentially a very dramatically written teen diary and only from her point of view. Other blog entries also kind of indicate that she was still relatively hung up on him after the breakup (despite having a new bf very soon after) and Justin is still friends with some of her friends so there doesn't seem to be bad blood between them.
She does have social media but has gone private on them, most likely to maintain her privacy after these rumours surfaced. She's not said anything in the years since these rumours first appeared and I doubt she will (bc they're probably bullshit) .
As for the dating app profile, I believe that to be crap also - not that the person matched with Justin Herbert, just that it was the Justin Herbert.
Apparently Justin does date via social media but not on your average dating apps like tinder or bumble as I've been told. I can't be 100% sure but I believe this situation was just someone making a fake profile using Justin's name which was subsequently deleted.
The fact that the profile was linked to his official IG (not that the profile was a verified acc) would also explain the quick deletion - makes it easier to locate and report the profile as a fake. There's a plethora of fake Justin profiles on Facebook, Twitter, and on dating apps but they aren't him - some get deleted and many don't.
Again, I'm in no way able to answer these questions definitively - I definitely could be wrong - but there are other explanations for these rumours/stories which make it difficult to know the truth unfortunately.
This ask is super long lmao so I'm sorry about that. I just hope I was able to fully explain the situation surrounding these rumours and the reasons for my sceptical stance on them.

Hi, sorry to bother you, but I know you know a lot about Restoration England, and I was wondering if you had any resources about theatre life and especially the history of Crossdressing in Theatre at that time? IIRC around that time women were finally allowed to be actresses?
Hello there! Sorry this took a while for me to answer. Got a lot of heavy stuff going on.
Yes, re: England, the Restoration was the first time that women were officially allowed to act. Obviously, there had been women "unofficially" acting before that, but now they were allowed to very genuinely pursue a career in the theatre, and many became celebrities.
I would say that the best book on actresses in this period, a very comprehensive look at everything to do with them and their experience of the theatre, is The First English Actresses: Women and Drama 1660-1700 by Elizabeth Howe. It's sort of all-encompassing and it means you can pick out specific actresses that you may want to research further (biographies are a brilliant resource). Considering you want to look at crossdressing on the stage specifically, you could really look at any actress (since crossdressing was a big part of the Restoration actress's life) but you should definitely specifically look at Nell Gwynn (she actually had a male persona and went out in men's clothes outside of the theatre to learn masculine mannerisms etc.), Anne Marshall, and Susanna Verbruggen.
Definitely worth looking at contemporary sources, especially if you want eyewitness accounts. Samuel Pepys was a creep BUT his diary is such a valuable resource for the time period. You can read every diary entry he made here. That website is great because you can search for specific names and phrases, and also use the encyclopaedia to pinpoint specific figures or themes in the diary (he talks about the theatre A LOT - almost in every entry.)
Other things I recommend:
This thesis about the actress, Anne Bracegirdle - one of the most interesting things I've read about Restoration theatre.
This website has some really good interactive stuff, including a map of the inside of a theatre in this period. Only downside is it's on the Web Archive so it's a little bit tricky to navigate but worth persevering with.
For undergrad, we had to do a podcast episode for a course I did on this and I did one on actresses and the theatre in this period. It's not perfect, it was made nearly 7 years ago now, but I think it has some interesting stuff in there! A good summation of the topic, anyway.

ok now if they had tumblrs...what would they mainly post about/reblog?
Spongebob - regular life blogging talking about everything he did and everything he loves. Every day is like a diary entry where he talks about everything wonderful that happened in his day. He also reblogs his friends posts to tell them how much he loves their posts! He's the type to flood your inbox or your dms. He just wants to talk <3
Patrick - weird disoriented posts of his day. Random picture of his pillow. Questions to the obvious "why does salt water taste salty?" And very poorly taken pictures of SB since he loves spongebob. Reblogs SB's posts. Everything he posts his littered with spelling errors. You will not get a response to your dms or asks until a year later. He forgets.
Squidward - two blogs. Art blog. He posts art. Aesthetic blog. He posts/reblogs his aesthetic posts of his favorite things. Breaks aesthetic occasionally to make call out posts about SB. Also occasionally lurks on Squilliam's blog and sends him hate anons.
Mr krabs - promotional blog for his restaurant. Also posts about the navy and the bi curious relationships he had with his navy buddies (but he doesn't view it as such, he thinks its a wholesome just being bros thing)
Karen - cat blog! Mom blog! She'd be mom blogging about her bby chip. She'd also be posting cats. She loves both. Also posts about spot. When their IP address gets banned because of plankton, she just goes to the local internet cafe to keep posting.
Doodlebob - art blog. Posts his drawings. Also posts his trips to the doodle dimension
Sandy - science blog! Also science side of tumblr! Post about any cool science news or hee inventions. Also is readily available to answer any science questions or clear up any misconceptions.
Pearl - regular girl blogging. Posts about her friends and school and outfits. Just regular girly teen girl stuff. I think her and her friends might've actually bullied girly-teen-girl from far away ville off the website. She also maintains the krusty krab blog. You remember how the Wendy's social media was? That's her with the krusty krab official.
Plankton - he tries to bully people off the site. His account got termed 3-4 times. He posts about his inventions and stuff and blogs about his prison time. Usual stuff. Sends hate anons to the krusty krab official but everyone knows its him. I think his IP address is completely banned now so he can't recreate his account so now he just tumblr posts from the library computers. Spends his days hating krabs while making weirdly thirsty hate posts for krabs.
Slappy - cryptic posting. Him vague posting about his day but they're incomprehensible. Too vague to understand what he's really talking about. Occasional picture uploads that are in the darkness with occasional blurry figures in the shadows (possibly sleep paralysis demons). You can see him posing in the background too but the pictures are too blurry to make out. He's not very good at photography. He's usually posting about his regular day. He also posts his poetry aaaand some weird nosferatu worship posting. Occasionally reblogs other peoples post to comment some weird cryptic shit. It looks like a compliment but it feels weird enough that you can't be sure. Oh and dont forget bad death puns.
I think he's also got in trouble once for "brain stealing" drama. He said his brains are 100% ethically sourced! He'd never steal! Smh

I don't really know who I am yet.
Ever since I learnt to string together coherent sentences, I've always liked writing like these little introduction entries. Whether it be in a new notebook, online, or even in my stories, I love being able to talk about myself. I used to think I was egotistical, so I just kept these entries to myself, but I've grown to realise it's less of a "I love myself to bits" thing, and more of a "catching up with myself every once in a while" thing. I think it's important to check in on yourself every once in a while. You know, to keep yourself from totally losing your mind and ending up in a psych ward. I mean, I'll end up in a psych ward regardless. What I'm trying to get at is hi, welcome to my little online diary. Fair word of warning, I have a lot of issues and I've seen literal porn on this website, so I'm not exactly worried about my posts being taken down if I talk about actively cvtting myself (I'll like censor my words just to be safe). Trigger warning for every single trigger under the sun: svicide, self h4rm, eating "this order", mommy and daddy issues, substance abuse, just to name a fun few. Obviously, my whole life doesn't revolve around that stuff (it absolutely does, I'm just gaslighting myself), so it's not like all my entries will be suicide letter after suicide letter.. or something. I might post it in the future though, so look forward to that!
ANYWAY, hi. I'm Amelia (people also call me Jemma if they're feeling funky), I'm 16 as of the 31st of March, and I'll be treating this as my diary. Basically decided on making this on a whim, so I have no clue whether I'll be writing here every day, or just once in a blue moon, time will tell. Honestly, I made this account to commemorate me surviving this long. I never imagied I'd make it to 16, and yet here we are. I didn't plan on making it this far, and I really don't have any plans on what to do with myself. I'm kinda at a loss. Before, it's just been a countdown to the day my candle goes out. Now, I wake up confused. What am I doing here? What is there for me? Is there anything for me out there? Everyday is a question. A question to which the answer is unclear, but I can make an educated guess that it's either drugs, money or death. Maybe all of the above.
I guess theres a few things I like to do. I'll get into detail in a later entry if I feel like it. It's getting pretty late.
I draw sometimes. I used to only do digital art, but I lost my apple pencil and have been too embarrased to tell my mam, so i just switched to permenant pencil drawings. I actually prefer it. I used to hate it because I was really bad at anatomy and using a digital drawing program let me rearrange the limbs as I so pleased. I can't do that on paper, it forces me to practice and get better. And I'd like to think that I have. I understand muscle structure a lot better. Perspective, and all that jazz. I also bought a watercolour set recently, so I've been messing around with that. It's pretty fun!
I also write stories. A lot of them. I'm actually in the process of writing the pilot episode for one of my projects; It's called "All-in". Its about this snobby rich girl who is running an illegal underground gambling ring who meets this depressed traumatised orphan boy who's part of a gang that is trying to take down the mafia and is constantly on someone’s kill list, he accidentally drags her into his business after his brother is kidnapped and the mafia thinks shes affiliated with him and she is now on the kill list as well. He is under the impression that she doesn’t want anything to do with any of this, not knowing she has a criminal record of her own. It's a whole thing, I won't bore myself by explaining all the small details. This is my diary! It exists for my leisure and to let out everything on my mind! I'll leave the work to work hours.
Another major hobby of mine is volleyball. Officially, I'm a setter. In reality, I'm a bench warmer. I haven't been playing very long. Maybe a year and a half. So naturally, I suck at it. I still have a lot of fun with it. Maybe i shoud become a professional volleyball player if I don't end up killing myself?
What else is there about me.... I listen to a lot of rock and metal. All sorts of varients of the two. Really, I like all genres of music, these are just my personal favourites. I also listen to a ton of vocaloid. It's been a staple of my personality since 2016. If youve been here since before i repurposed this account (which, I doubt you did), then you'd have seen my entire page was FILLED with Hatsune Miku stuff. Big fan.
I watch a lot of anime. My favourites are FMA, Soul Eater and Assassination Classroom. I also have a manga collection that is worth over 450 quid. Some might say thats a waste, since I'm poor and could use that money to feed myself for a month, but food is temporary, wasted female lead potentional is forever.
I'm gonna gp to sleep now. I'll add on whatever I can think of when I'm back from school tomorrow.
...
School sucks dick.

Emily has made significant contributions to the world of animation through her thought-provoking and visually captivating films.
"She's been making short films that are boldly idiosyncratic and diary entry Intimate for over 30 years. In 2009. She premiered her first feature-length theatrical release, The Toe Tactic, which combines her signature animation style with live action."

After several attempts to find relevant information on Emily Hubley, I had given up and was about to change my pick for the project - But I had a final trick up my sleeve. Well, it's not really a trick but an email that I found on her official website [emilyhubley.com]
So I thought why not give it a try and I managed to come up with an email to send to her, asking her if she was willing to answer a few questions, I had little to no faith she would reply so I had a few animators in the back of my mind to move to asap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few hours went by and to my gasping shock, I had received an email back. I couldn't believe my eyes for the next 10 mins as i went through the very sweet email she had sent me back, acknowledging and agreeing to help me with my project!
Tumblr media
I was just DUMBFOUNDED, to say the least, I called up all my friends and my family just to scream the news to them! I quickly took it upon myself to reply as fast as possible and get the ship sailing. Hopefully, this works out, one of the best things that could've happened this semester!
If or not she's reading this, I want to personally thank Ms Emily Hubley for replying to my email and saving me the trouble of strained eyes and soar fingers from all the research! Thanks!

Nature Interpretation Through History
"There is no peculiar merit in ancient things, but there is merit in integrity, and integrity entails the keeping together of the parts of any whole, and if these parts are scattered throughout time, then the maintenance of integrity entails a knowledge, a memory, of ancient things. …. To think, feel or act as though the past is done with, is equivalent to believing that a railway station through which our train has just passed, only existed for as long as our train was in it."
(Edward Hyams, Chapter 7, The Gifts of Interpretation)
There are three parts of Hyams's quote that reach out to me; the first is that the nature of our present reality is a product of the several events and happenings within our history which are ‘scattered throughout time’. Indeed, the remnants of such past events, whether physical or psychological, would be perceived as invaluable if we did not collectively recognise the importance of understanding the past to comprehend our present and future existence. Beck et al., (2018) reinforce the vital role that historical interpreters play in enabling individuals to make connections between educational and enriching narratives of history and their own lives.
This brings me to the second aspect of Hyams's quote that I want to expand upon, that the ‘maintenance of integrity entails a knowledge, a memory, of ancient things’. Beck et al., (2018) highlight the importance of preserving memories and communicating them through interpretation activities, since both positive and more tragic stories of historical occurrences, including human conflict and discrimination, can otherwise become lost over the course of new generations. As interpreters, we must keep these memories alive, for they can shape and alter audiences' perspectives and worldviews and inspire social action within our present day. One ‘place of memory’ (Beck et al., 2018: 327) that I have had the opportunity to visit myself is Anne Frank’s House in Amsterdam. This museum provided an incredibly moving way of experiencing the story of Anne Frank, a German-born Jewish girl who was a victim of the Holocaust. When exploring the house, we were surrounded by videos, photos, quotes from her well-known diary entries and physical items that helped to convey her experiences of hiding from Nazi persecution. I personally found the experience incredibly moving and emotional, and it enabled me to reflect upon the fact that we are still seeing similar acts of discrimination and persecution around the world today. This museum, therefore, serves as a vital means of ensuring Anne’s story and voice continue to be heard by current generations, and that light continues to be shed upon such historic and contemporary human rights issues within human civilisation.
However, arguably the most powerful part of Hyam’s statement is the part where he states ‘To think, feel or act as though the past is done with, is equivalent to believing that a railway station through which our train has just passed, only existed for as long as our train was in it.’. This train metaphor is extremely powerful in demonstrating how our current lives are shaped by the historical journey and experiences of the generations of humans who have come before us. As Beck et al., (2018) write, interpreters are responsible for illuminating these stories; this includes interpreting native and indigenous cultures and their experiences. Not only that, just like a train track, the action and direction we take now will influence and shape our future path. Indeed, the illumination and sharing of the stories of those who experience oppression and hardship by museums and historical sites can become a means of facilitating advocacy, education and civility in the present day (Rose, 2016).
Bringing this back to nature interpretation, history is essential for ensuring a more environmentally sustainable and just future for humankind and this planet. Indeed, global environmental issues such as climate change require us to reflect on our past actions, recognise where we went wrong, and utilise this to envision solutions. A documentary that reinforces the importance of delving into the past in order to understand the lack of progress towards addressing climate change that we see today is ‘Merchants of Doubt’ by Robert Kenner. This documentary explores how inaction on climate change has been fuelled by historical challenges in science communication and the efforts of the fossil fuel industry and various political figures to cast doubt over the scientific consensus on climate change. It then draws comparisons between the global warming controversy and that of the earlier controversy surrounding the tobacco industry and the health effects of smoking. Similar tactics were adopted by sceptics and members of the tobacco and fossil fuel industry; history has repeated itself. The film concludes by highlighting that it took fifty years for science to prevail concerning the dangers of smoking. We are running out of time to address climate change, so we must reflect and learn from these destructive patterns of ignorance and denialism and prioritise action on this climate crisis within our present and future.
Here is the trailer for the film if you would like to take a look:
youtube
You only have to watch the news today to see how the continued degradation of our planet in the past and into our present is currently impacting both human and non-human populations; history must be learnt from to ensure a more sustainable and environmentally just future for us all.

This morning, after my praise and worship and morning prayers, I scanned through online newspapers. As usual, I read both the local and the international news headlines. Apart from the election in Kenya, the other headline that caught my attention was the New York Times' story about how General Mark Milley, President Trump's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, almost resigned. According to the newspaper, he wrote a resignation letter that was biting. It made me have a flashback. I remembered my resignation letter, which, just like General Milley, I did not submit. General Milley wrote his resignation letter days following the killing of George Floyd and the protest that followed. What triggered him was the event of June 1, 2020, when Trump took him and other top government officials, like the Secretary of Defence Mark Esper and Attorney General William Barr and others, on a walk from the White House to St. John's Church in Washington DC. As part of the walk, SSS deployed security personnel to clear people protesting the death of George Floyd along the path. In his letter, General Milley told Trump that he ruined the international order and caused damage to America abroad. He reminded Trump that the Greatest Generation fought a war against tyrannies, dictatorships, fascism, and Nazism, that killed over 150 million people to put in place that order. From the extract the paper published, it was a fascinating letter of resignation. CNN said that General Milley was set to excoriate Trump. My resignation letter had gone a step more than denouncing Buhari and blaming him for destroying what remained of Nigeria's unity, for which millions died in the war to keep Nigeria one. I laid bare how Buhari weaponized religion, ethnicity and nepotism to blow up the remaining guardrails that separated the veins of the nation from hordes of people drunk in ignorance and wallowing in poverty of the minds. I made predictions, or if you like, prophecies, too. And so far, some of my prophesies in that letter have already started to manifest. Only now, when I release the letter with my memoir, some of you would think I wrote it in hindsight. Thank God I mailed two copies of the letter to two of my most trusted confidants. I may even show the different drafts and editing my letter went through in the memoir. Here is General Milley in his own words in that resignation letter. "It's now obvious to me that you don't understand that world. You don't understand what the war was all about. In fact, you subscribe to many of the principles that we fought against. And I cannot be a party to that. It is with deep regret that I hereby submit my letter of resignation." I had to pause reading General Milley's letter to attend to the love of my life. She came into my study to show me the viral clip of Peter Obi's visit to Dunamis Church. "This could have been you," she said. I wanted to say, "Even you." But I swallowed the words. She apparently did not know how many people had sent that same clip to me in the last few days. I asked Laolu if he thought this could have been me. He was coy, as usual. He shrugged and said, "God knows best." I looked at him suspiciously. He recovered and rephrased his sentence, saying, "God's time is always the best." I will get to all that in this first entry into my Secret Diary. But first, let me finish the story of Milley's resignation letter because it is connected to my letter and why I have decided to keep this secret diary. I am writing this on a password-protected diary website. Even the love of my life does not know the password. Suppose the next president of Nigeria sends the EFCC to search my home and break into my safe in search of documents connecting me to Tunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Internal Revenue Service that Buhari fired in 2019, they won't see this secret diary. And I know
one of the current presidential candidates that won't wait to do to me what the FBI did to former U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday. So, General Milley did not submit his resignation letter after consulting prominent military leaders like Gen. James Dubik and former secretary of defence and CIA chief Robert Gates. I was shocked at the similarities of Milley's predicament to mine. I wrote my resignation letter after the uproar that followed my firing of the Department of State Services director-general in August of 2018. Nigerians have forgotten the DSS siege of the National Assembly that prompted me to fire the man. As acting president, I ensured that we maintained law and order in Nigeria under my watch. I was not going to compromise such an essential part of my job. Also, it was one thing to sideline and even insult me when I was only the Vice President, but such behavior was unacceptable to me as acting president. I had to make that very clear. To have that decision to fire Mr. Lawal Daura questioned, to have it considered for possible reversal, to have some people who think they own the country use it as a basis to question my loyalty to the president, to have them instigate my isolation and emasculation, was all that I needed to pen my resignation. In my letter, which you will read in my memoir, I pointed out incredible ways I had been loyal to the president. For example, when he was sick in London, again and again, against every fabric of my being, I lied to the Nigerian people that the president was "hale and hearty." It was loyalty. But the reward I got was to be disrespected and ostracized more than ever. After broad consultation, I did not submit the resignation letter that I wrote. Though now, I wonder if those people who advised me were honest. I wonder if they were not moles of the people who did not want me to be president. I was leaning on leaving. If I had done that, I believe I would have been in Peter Obi's position today. Unlike Milley, I had another incident down the road that compelled me to update the letter. And I did. But once again, I failed to submit it. You will read all about that and the updated letter in my memoir. A part of me now wished that I did tender the letter. It would have made all the difference if I had done so, either the first or second time. It was not that some people did not advise me to do so. Many prominent people did. Even knuckleheads like Dr. Damages, I saw him running his mouth everywhere. They were talking about how I needed to separate myself from Buhari's government if I wanted to show that I disapproved of what was happening within the administration. But I firmly believed that the dividend of loyalty superseded all other contingencies. I underestimated the power of vengeful older men who strode Nigeria's corridors of power. I trusted God, who took me this far to finish the job that I believed he had handpicked me to accomplish for the country. Unfortunately, God had a different idea in the end. I say so because I have prayed hard and fasted to reach this mild conclusion. I had resisted the temptation to say that God failed me. I was sure that God would turn the mocked mere commissioner into the president of Nigeria. Maybe, what I missed was God's signal to resign. Maybe. I remember all this because I had received over a dozen times the clip of what transpired when Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, visited Dunamis church in Abuja. When I saw him with Pastor Paul Enenche, I felt it could have been me if only I had resigned. It could have been me if I had read the handwriting on the wall. It could have been me if only I had been bold. It could have been me if only I had not confused loyalty to a man with loyalty to my country and God. It could have been me if only I had understood all these years of being a pastor and following in the footsteps of my Daddy GO that God had not stopped treating us like his sheep.
He would take us to the pond but would not force us to drink. These are the two things that have prompted me to start this diary. In the days to come, as I recuperate from leg surgery done in Nigeria by excellent Nigerian doctors, I will have enough time to reflect on the events of the last few months. In my remaining months as the Vice President, I will be putting my thoughts on paper. I will use some of these reflections in my memoir when this is over. I already have a title for it: "God is not mocked” with the sub-title, “Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s years as Buhari’s Vice." While going through my squashed presidential dream grieving process, I considered some controversial titles. At one point, I blasphemously thought of calling it "Why I am disappointed in God." Because I prayed hard... and my people also prayed. There was a time when I wanted to incinerate everything. Then, the title running around in my head was "No brotherhood in a zoo." But thank God, cool heads have prevailed. But I can assure you that I will not bite my tongue when I finally put pen to paper. I have had enough of sitting in this office and crushing my testicles. Watching Kenyans vote and the president's candidate Raila Odinga on the road to victory even though he is from the opposition party, I got angry again. Undoubtedly, if Buhari had supported me, I would have been the presidential candidate of the APC. But he didn't. And because of that, a grossly infirmed man is leading our party. Lurking behind him is a hyena, waiting to take over. When he does take over from our man with a fake name, fake age, fake state of origin, or fake school, he would be lenient to our Igbo brothers and sisters but not to my Christian family. For those who accused me of betrayal, I will address you all, too. Real betrayal would have if I had revealed what I knew about Alpha Beta and some under-the-radar, never disclosed deals that happened while I was in Lagos. There is a reason why people like Babatunde Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode, Rauf Aregbeshola, and I purse our lips, skin our smiles, and wrap our winks when you see us around the man. Even though I still feel disappointed in myself, my advisers, and others that I will name in my memoir, I sincerely believe my Father in the Lord when he said to me days after the APC's primary, "God is not done with you." Looking at this election season, I can see a possible outcome and permutation that will have the whole country begging me to come and take over in 2027. Forget Peter Obi and his dance in the market square. The big moment has not eluded me. It has only been postponed. Alright now, I have to stop here. The love of my life is coming over for us to take our evening walk. I can hear her ever-soft footsteps that serenade my soul. To be continued... …. WarioWare Character Analysis: Mona
Tumblr media
It took a little longer than expected, but here we are at the second part of this series, all about Wario's perfect co-star: Mona!
More than any other character, Mona sparks a lot of discussion on how she is portrayed and I have some things to say about that discussion, which we'll get to soon.
Mega Microgames:
We are introduced to Mona in this game and it's still a portrayel people heavily latch onto, myself included.
In her own story, Mona is late for work and get's in trouble with the police due to driving over the speed limit. She ends up evading the cops thanks to her pet monkey and makes it to work just in time. She later stands out as the only one during the ending who chases after Wario, when he tries to make off with everyone's earnings.
Her microgames are centered around strange things or everyday things with a strange twist. On top of that the official diaries on the japanese website further go into how she loves noses (especially Wario's) and considers moth larvaes her favorite animals.
Right off the bat, Mona is established as adventerous, spunky, being willing to call Wario out despite her admiration for him and having both a love for the strange and a bit of a rebellious streak.
Mona being in high-school is also established as early as the diaries. I have choice words on why I think it undermines Mona's character, but it is part of a point I will get into later.
Both manuals and the official diary also establish her own love for money and that Wario has taken her on some treasure hunts before. She is also shown to very much be a cool big sis for Kat, Ana and 9-Volt in the diary entries.
In addition, her intermission involves her showing off different outfits and the diaries establish her mother as a super model. Keep that in mind for later.
More than anyone else introduced in this game, I feel Mona is pretty well established early on, lots of little and bigger things to note, which we will come back to later.
Mega Party Games:
While Mona is largely not part of the story, she does appear during the Cast Roll, seemingly working as a waitress now, establishing her job hopping tendencies. This is also the first game where Mona takes over manual narration for Wario for a while, a trend that would continue into the next three games.
Twisted:
Mona is first seen coming to Crygor's lab with 9-Volt and later, along with 9-Volt, 18-Volt, Kat and Ana, joins Orbulon on a cruise with his ship. It's subtle, but seeing her hang out with the kid characters so much is a first in-game indicator of her sisterly relationship with them.
In her own story, Mona now works as a pizza delivery girl and get's into a fight on the streets with Pizza Dinosaur, which she manages to come out on top of, thanks to her pets and Joe.
Not too much to add. Another new job, another road rage adventure. Classic Mona.
Touched:
This time, Mona works as a rock-star and get's into conflict on the streets with Vanessa and her mooks, which she manages to come out on top of. She does bail during her concert though, since she still has pizzas to deliver.
In many ways a repeat of Twisted, but the ending does show off nicely just how many jobs she juggles.
Also, her intermission is her showing off outfits again. Keep that in mind.
Smooth Moves:
Mona cheers on a football player in her high-school team. That's it, she's not even really the focus of her own story. We do get to see her at another new job though, in Young Cricket's story, which is also the final time we'll see her bandmates and the last apperance of her pets for quite some time.
More notably is the japanese Smooth Moves website, where a in-character blog entry by Mona has her voice how she empathizes with Ashley's loneliness due to her own parents being busy. Big Sis Mona back at it.
This is also the first game to give Mona new voice lines and while it still seems to be Leslie Swan voicing her, she is voiced in a distinctly younger, higher pitched fashion, in contrast to her very mature sounding original clips. Keep that in mind.
Snapped:
The only thing to really talk about is the intro. Mona helps out Wario and clearly admires him. Nothing new.
DIY:
Mona is among the WarioWare Inc. employees to have left the company for this game, to work for Diamond Software, which is implied to be run by Joe.
In her own story, Mona is now treasure hunting on her own with Joe as a cameraman, exploring ancient temples and selling the treasure for profit. This is very in-line with what we heard before.
Additionally, with themes being back, her microgames are back to the original Strange theme.
Game & Wario:
Mona is now working as a photojournalist, taking photos of criminals at the scene of crime and getting them arrested. She also hosts the Mona Superscoop extra, a series of her talking about Diamond City residents, linked to the different games available in G&W.
Mona also recieves the most notable redesign of the cast, a move that also marks a trend of her design being made to look more distinctly youthful. Some of that may also be a result of the Rhythm Heaven artstyle, but with the later games in mind, it feels deliberate.
WarioWare Gold:
In this game, Mona is introduced during the intro, asking Wario what her doing something for him will pay. A nice little reminder of her own love for money and willingness to push Wario for her due payment.
In her own story, she goes to Joe's new clothing shop, to get herself a new dress for a party and all her animations during the stage are her showing off outfits (sound familiar?). She also get's a chance to gush over Wario again.
She also shows up for the first remix stage, helping to make Joe's club a success and wishing Wario was there.
In her character cards, we learn she admires Wario for his treasure hunting skills and is an aspiring adventurer herself, something DIY and past statements very much support.
Mona has been redesigned again for the new style, now looking a lot like her original look, but with a more modest one-piece dress and without her helmet. Once more, she looks more youthful than before.
In addition, she has a new VA Stephanie Sheh, who makes her sound youthful, but more mature than Leslie's 2006-2013 performance, as I see it.
WarioWare Get It Together:
Mona's own story revolves around her pets making a mess in her room. She gives them a very savage order to clean up (boomerang toss and a VERY angry face), only to have the same thing happen again next day.
If anything, GiT really brings back Mona's temper, we also see it when Wario says he is starting to find the corrupted game world not that bad or when everyone get's mad at Wario when it turns out he created the bugs by accident.
Her prezzie preferences pretty much play into everything we know about Mona. Weird things, fashion, Wario and anything that relates to her past jobs. We also see that she has a plush of the Rhythm Tweezers veggie in her room, on top of photos of Wario, Kat, Ana, 9-Volt and 18-Volt, once more affirming her affection for Wario and her younger friends.
This is also the first time we see her home, which not only is styled after her past jobs and love for the strange, but also the first time the games have ever shown her being wealthy. Past supplementary materials alluded to it, but as with here, it's not made a big deal of. Given how it's styled after her, the house also seems to belong to her, meaning she likely lives on her own.
So. The question is: Has Mona Changed?
One thing that has indeed changed a bit is her job hopping being downplayed, it's certainly still referenced, but neither Gold nor GiT give her a new occupation.
Beyond that though, to be honest, Mona has stayed largely the same.
A big argument I tend to hear is that GiT and Gold girly-fy and cuti-fy her too much, but I gotta be real, all of that was always there.
Even prior to Gold, her appearance and voice have been made to be more youthful and while I could write an entire essay on why the angle of her being in high-school sucks, it was always there and blatantly there to appeal to popular cute girl tropes in Japan.
You got that, her being in a maid outfit in Mega Party Games' cast roll, her being a cheerleader in Smooth Moves, her sparkly anime girl eyes in Snapped, WARIO HIMSELF calling her cute in his final Mega Microgames intermission and the list goes on and on. Being cute was always a aspect of her character that was strongly emphasized.
The focus on fashion in her Gold story get's heat from people unhappy with current Mona, but bluntly put, this was always a trait of her's, there is a reason I asked anyone reading to keep her Mega Microgames and Touched intermissions in mind. I'll also add that one of her intermission outfits in the first game is a school girl uniform:
Tumblr media
Her cuteness and girlyness was always there.
As far as everything else is concerned, Mona has remained the same. She is still very active, nice, but has her limits, is good with the kids, likes money, Wario and weird things. GiT even emphasizes her temper more than any other game, even the original.
The way some traits have been portrayed may have shifted a tad and I have my own preferences, but on the whole I really don't agree that Mona has changed much or been watered down.

Star Dikui
This show currently has 2 seasons and is full of references, memes, clever jokes, and the occasional 4th wall break and it's practically tailored for anyone who likes tumblr's brand of shitposting. One full episode is around 14 minutes and each episode after the first starts with an individualised diary entry of one of the characters detailing the events of the previous episode.
You can watch some of the episodes on bilibili's YouTube channel "哗哩哗哩动画Anime Made By Bilibili" (I'll put a link in the notes later) or you can watch it on their official website.
It's the kind of thing that you can binge watch for fun so give it a try :D
And lastly, here's some random references on the show:
