sometimes youre like "hey, remember that lawsuit from years ago where warner brothers would have had to prove ghosts were real, i wonder how that whole thing ended. i should look that up."
and turns out you shouldnt look it up. or at least not when youre gonna be going to sleep within the next hour.
because turns out the legally proving ghosts are real thing is one of the easier things to digest in that clusterfuck of copyright claims.
the warrens are/were bad people who seem to have given away exclusive rights for their lifestory at least twice, maybe thrice, and its all downhill from there

look, I know I've talked about this essay (?) before but like,
If you ever needed a good demonstration of the quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", have I got an exercise for you.
Somebody made a small article explaining the basics of atomic theory but it's written in Anglish. Anglish is basically a made-up version of English where they remove any elements (words, prefixes, etc) that were originally borrowed from romance languages like french and latin, as well as greek and other foreign loanwords, keeping only those of germanic origin.
What happens is an english which is for the most part intelligible, but since a lot everyday english, and especially the scientific vocabulary, has has heavy latin and greek influence, they have to make up new words from the existing germanic-english vocabulary. For me it kind of reads super viking-ey.
Anyway when you read this article on atomic theory, in Anglish called Uncleftish Beholding, you get this text which kind of reads like a fantasy novel. Like in my mind it feels like it recontextualizes advanced scientific concepts to explain it to a viking audience from ancient times.
Even though you're familiar with the scientific ideas, because it bypasses the normal language we use for these concepts, you get a chance to examine these ideas as if you were a visitor from another civilization - and guess what, it does feel like it's about magic. It has a mythical quality to it, like it feels like a book about magic written during viking times. For me this has the same vibe as reading deep magic lore from a Robert Jordan book.

You’re placed in a room with an animal. The door is closed and you cannot leave. The animal is completely calm and has no intent of harming you. You are in no danger unless you provoke the animal in some way.

I keep seeing ads for cotton candy flavored vape pods on tumblr and it made me wonder…
Why/Why not in the tags?
I’m interested because I feel like when I was in high school/college in the mid-10s, almost nobody smoked - even if you otherwise had some pretty hard vices. I think it was considered not really worth it for something with such a small buzz. But now, idk. Maybe the advertisers are right to target people here because it’s just that popular again??
(Reblog for a bigger sample size etc etc.)

So I think I forgot to post about it here but I'm knitting my own wedding dress.
Edit to add materials: I'm using suri silk alpaca (apparently I'm slightly allergic to mohair?), and glass beads for the silvery and pearl beads.

Amazon resorting to deleting negative reviews of Rings of Power on IMDB just cause they own it is super fucking humiliating for them but also demonstrates the problem that if like 4 companies own most of the internet that means they own both the media and all the sites that critique said media and you can say goodbye to any reliable consumer reviews of products on the internet

things mr d does for his own entertainment:
convince percy he's his dad (he isn't), then asks him to get him alcohol (he's not allowed to drink alcohol)
telling percy zeus is very likely mad at him for stealing the thunderbolt (which he didn't steal)

Off-topic poll (I'm curious)
*This is not about genuinely problematic media, just stuff you personally don't like (a show you thought was overrated but everyone around you loves, an anime you think is way too comedic/silly for your taste etc.)
