Lost Mine & Abyss Session 1 - Bread Heals All Wounds

-Deep below the surface of Toril, demons have been unleashed into the Underdark by a spell gone wrong. The tunnels twist and change, corruption seeping into the heart of the world, as Toril prepares for its impending destruction.

-Unaware of any of this, five spirited adventurers make their way to a Neverwinter tavern for an escort job. There the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker explains that they are to carry his supplies to the nearby town of Phandalin for 10 gold each, and accompany him as bodyguards to find a lost magical artifact in the mountains for an additional 10 gold. Him and his human knight friend Sildar Hallwinter set out that night on horses, and has hired oxen and a wagon for the party the next day.

-The party gets to know each other, consisting of Sid the tough Red Dragonborn Forge Cleric, Camila the silent and sneaky Goliath Rogue, Zoream the endearing (and bald) Orc Wizard, Sheara the girlboss (and bald-hating) Tiefling Paladin, and Dakwert the small Gnome Warlock. Three of them absolutely towering, one averaged sized but with tall horns, and one little dude. 

-Sheara begins conversation right away by asking why Zoream is bald. She then prays to her god for him to grow hair

-Camila stealths away as Zoream searches for her. We learn that Zoream cannot read as the mute Camila attempts to communicate to him with notes. The exasperated Sheara becomes Zoream’s designated translator. 

-The party sets out on their wagon the next day. As they pass from the well-maintained main road to pothole-infested back roads as they head toward the small town of Phandalin, they come across the two dead horses of their employers. As they approach to investigate, four goblins attack!

-The first combat commences, and things are looking dire with that good ol’ level one single digit hit points- until Sid deletes one on sight and Zoream knocks out two more with a Ray of Sickness.

-Sheara had been awkwardly holding one after a critical miss who falls unconscious into her arms from Zoream's spell. She decides to carry him for the rest of the session. +1 Boblin

-The remainder, Roblin the Goblin, pleads for his life, telling the party that his boss, the bugbear Klark, made him do it. He’s new at his job of jumping adventurers and really just doesn’t want to be here. He explains that he was ordered to capture the dwarf and anyone traveling with him. 

-The party demands Roblin take them to his boss. He is afraid of this, and says his boss wouldn't like that, that he’s not very nice. Zoream tells him that they will simply fire his boss. The party informs him of unionization and workers rights. Roblin gains the spark of revolution.

-Zoream and Sid pick up the other two unconscious goblins to carry with them, Sid holding one in his tail and Zoream dragging another by the foot. Roblin leads them around the traps, very nervous to be here. Zoream offers Roblin some bread to make up for it. "Bread heals all wounds." Roblin agrees, all grudges forgotten.

-They arrive at the goblins' cave, Roblin telling them to go around Klark's snarling wolves chained to the ground. The party ignores this and decides to make some friends- by Sid running up to one with a mace and slamming it down to cut the chain. the wolf leaps to attack him, but misses and instead is just held immobilized in the dragonborn's arms like a large dog, growling but very confused.

-Zoream offers it some jerky, calming it. The other two wolves now sit and look at them expectantly. The wolves are fed and let free, and run off into the wild to terrorize some other adventuring party.

-The party continues deeper into the cave. A goblin from above readies an arrow, but at Roblin's joyous cry of the incoming revolution, leaves to shout the good news instead.

-The party enters the break room cave to collect the human, with five goblins sitting around the fire. They look up confused to the nervous Roblin and the party carrying the unconscious bodies of their friends.

-Sheara: “I explain to them workers’ rights”

-The goblins excitedly agree and ask if they want to join them by the fire and in their game of kicking the human.

-Zoream: “That’s my friend.” Goblin: “Oh. Do you want to throw things at your friend?”

-they head toward the raised cliff to the side of the cave, where Sildar is tied to the wall and unconscious. Another tired goblin looks down on them and asks what they're doing.

-Zoream: “UNIONIZATION!” Goblin: “...What the hell is that” Sheara: “I explain to him workers’ rights. So it all started with Karl Marx...”

-The goblin is still confused by all this. “FREE MEAT” Zoream exclaims. “Also we’re going to fire Klarg” “Oo. That I can get behind.” The goblin replies.

 They ask where the dwarf is. Yeemik says he has already been handed over to Klark’s boss. The managers you have to go through to get anything done, smh.

-Yeemik agrees to give them Sildar after Klark is dead. He is very on board with this plan, saying he would be a much better leader and has been wanting to get rid of him for months. INSIGHT CHECK. This goblin is shady as hell. 

-Zoream tells him he doesn’t seem like a good leader. He gives Roblin a motivational speech to stand up for himself and lead the goblins. “Remember. Bread heals all wounds”

-While this is happening, Sid frees Sildar from his ropes. He falls against the floor at one hit point.

-The party asks them to give their campaign pitches. Yeemik says he will get Klark killed, prove his worth to Klark’s bosses and get the goblins assigned to somewhere better away from these terrible empty back roads. “Oh. Um. I’ll... get us bread?” Roblin says. The party suggests a joint government. 

-The party tell Yeemik to lead them to Klark if he wants the credit for it. He agrees and tells the goblins to watch the human (still faceplanted on the floor of the cave) and tells them to stop kicking him because they have to give him back. The goblins are disappointed. Sheara gently sets Boblin down by the fire before she leaves. Roblin stays behind to win the hearts of the people.

-They make their way through the rest of the cave's tunnels on their mission to Speak To The Manager. They hear Klark yelling at someone, and as they climb the steps, Yeemik waves and yells out, "Hey, Klark! We're here to kill ya!"

And there our first session ends! My return to the world of Dungeon Mastering with a reboot of my old campaign. A new journey begins!

i spent yesterday cleaning and i dyed a sweater that i hated and now i hate it less. i think i might try and dye it again to get it darker at some point but for now it’s fine

i showed my mom some of the dishes and house things i’ve bought over facetime. just a smattering of things. she helped me find some move ivy pattern dishes on etsy and i haven’t decided if i’m going to buy them yet or not

this morning i made a shit ton of potatoes and bacon for breakfast while i work the next three nights. the potatoes were about to go bad so i just finished off the bag and now i can eat them when i get home from work. i played some of spiritfarer too and now i’m either gonna read or watch owl house before i sleep for the day

i got new clothes at walmart and it’s all so cute and fall colors i need to clean out my dressers lol i’m almost tempted to post some of my outfits…just cause i’m excited about them
