Busy making a clean sweep at the “best baby daddy of the year” awards time and time again

Keegan is the reigning "best daddy" for at least 3 years before Price has his kid, and then the race gets real tight. Even when Keegan isn't actively in his child's life he's the best dad. Sneaking into the house to change diapers and feed the little monster in the middle of the night so you can sleep, swiping extra formula off store shelves and depositing it in your car, same with diapers when you're tight on money. He sits in the baby's room in the dead hours of the morning and conjures the forests trees, the light of the moon and twinkling of stars, to keep them calm.

"This is where your momma met me," he whispers, and it echoes over the baby monitor. You sit up in bed, and go to check the baby's room, sure you've heard something. It's empty, Keegan hidden in the shadows to watch the way you pick up his child and cradle them to your chest. You kiss their little head and go to sit in your rocking chair, singing your usual lullaby. It almost makes Keegan want to curl up and sleep as well.

He stocks your pantry, carefully coaxes your produce to stay fresh longer, watches to make sure you're eating right, then gently eases you to sleep. He never needs to do more, content that you're exactly who he thought you were when he gave you his child. You're an angel, one he's already eager to spend his life with.

I wonder if Angel ever gets imsecure about her relationship with Keegan? In the sense of "oh, what if he just wants me for my baby." Like, I imagine when the truth comes out, their heart is beating really fast, thinking oh, he's gonna ditch her and just take the baby. Cut himself off and just snatch Monster and never come back. Does that feeling still linger, even after Keegan expresses his desire to stay?

I imagine not, since, y'know. Both of them seem secure in their relationship but its fun to think about

It's hard not to get insecure even when the relationship is strong and the people in it communicate well. Doubt is part of being human, and you are painfully human. You remember it often when you see Keegan playing with your child. There's a solid week after he tells you that he's the monster you made a deal with where your heart races every time he picks up the little monster. "He's going to take them," you think, and have to stop yourself from grabbing them from his arms. You have to settle into a new normal, a new understanding.

Some part of you always knew, of course. You were drawn to Keegan immediately, suckered in by those starry blue eyes and his gentle touches. You'd swooned over how well he handled the baby, how easily he stepped into the role of father, never bothering to question how much your child resembled him. There's no good way to ask if he's sure he won't take them. Not without sounding as desperate as you feel.

Settling in is easy though. Easier than you would have thought. You find that Keegan becomes more eager to hold both of you, rather than just one. He reaches for you when your child lays their head against his shoulder, reaches for the baby when you cuddle next to him on the couch. "My everything," He whispers when he kisses your temple. "I'll never let you go," He promises when he holds your hand.

"You're all I ever wanted," He assures you when you sweep your fingers over your child's sleeping face, stroking the soft hairs of their brows and down their nose.

"A family," You mumble to yourself, the only thing you ever wanted as well.

"I've been thinking," He hums, wrapping his arms around your waist and settling against your back, "they could use a sibling." And you know without a shadow of doubt, that Keegan isn't planning on running off anytime soon.
