Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: A cult-favorite setting powder that provides a matte finish and minimizes the appearance of pores.
Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Lengthening Mascara: A mascara known for its lengthening and volumizing effects.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade: A waterproof, smudge-proof eyebrow pomade for defined brows.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation: A matte foundation with a wide shade range to suit various skin tones.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter: A highly pigmented highlighter known for its intense glow.
MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation: A versatile powder foundation that can be used for light to full coverage.
Remember that the "best" makeup products can vary depending on your skin tone, skin type, and personal preferences. It's often a good idea to try out samples or consult with makeup professionals to find the products that work best for you.

Primers- Studio Perfect Primer by Nyx Cosmetics and Primer Potion in Original Formula by Urban Decay on the eyelids, Poreless Putty Primer by Elf Cosmetics on the whole face.
Eyeshadow- Kahina from the Warrior 3 Palette by Juvia’s Place above the crease and on the whole eyelids. Drippin’ Diamonds from the Chocolate Gold Palette by Too Faced was applied along the brow bone. Lastly Lydia from the Waiting Room Palette by Melt Cosmetics (no longer sold, part of their Beetlejuice Collection) was applied to the kids and just above the crease.
Mascara- Lash Alert by Eyeko and On The Rise by Nyx Cosmetics.
Eyeliner- Multi Chrome Eyeliner Crayon in Flame by Sugar Drizzle Polish along the top and bottom lashlines, and Creme Gel Liner in Kicker by Colourpop applied as a lower wing.
Setting Spray- Oil Control by Skindinavia.
Powder- HD Studio Finishing Powder by Nyx Cosmetics.
Highlighter- none today.
Foundation- CCC cream in Warm Medium Light by Cle Cosmetics.
Concealer- Conceal and Define in C3 by Makeup Revolution and Pretty Fresh in Fair15 by Colourpop.
Lipstick- Melted Matte-tallic Lipstick in B*tch I’m Too Faced (no longer sold) by Too Faced.
This CCC cream is a combination of BB and CC cream, it’s a micro capsule technology that applies white and oxidizes to match your skin tone. Yes I accidentally chose too dark of a color, it happens sometimes and it was a sample, so no worries and I have some lighter options to try next. I like that it has SPF in it, and it doesn’t have an overpowering scent (likely due to the essential oils). This was another complimentary item from BeautyTap, you can read my review here.

Hey everyone,
Recently I’ve been looking for products to try that I haven’t used before so I’ve been watching a lot of drugstore hauls on YouTube and these were a couple products that were mentioned and easy to get my hands on.
So let’s start with NYX, originally NYX was only available in Boots or through their own website but now it’s available in Superdrug which is so much easier for me to get my hands on. So the first product I got was the MATTE FINISH FINI MAT Setting Spray which cost £7.00. The reviews for this product were 4.5/5 and many people compared it to the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray as they both have a matte finish, obviously the Urban Decay one is £24.00 so this is a great bargain. After using this spray a few times now I really love it, it holds your makeup perfectly and takes away the shine from your makeup effortlessly. If you’re a fan on the Urban Decay Spray but want a cheaper alternative this is the perfect option.
Next in the NYX Collection we have the Matte Liquid Liner, this Eyeliner isn’t a pen like my normal liners but a brush and pot which I haven’t used in years in all honesty. I remember using the original version of this product which was the satin finish a few years ago but really wanted to try this version. This eyeliner cost £7.00 and has such a gorgeous matte finish but what I love most about this liner is the brush is so flexible and easy to work this. Since the brush it so slim it’s so much easier to to sutble Liner on the eyes or build it up to do a thicker wing. I’ve been using this liner on my lid to subtly line my eyeshadow looks without a wing and I adore the finish on it.
Lastly we have a brand I’ve never used before which is P.S My Perfect Colour by Primark ....l that’s right they don’t just do clothing anymore they have a full cosmetics range. I wanted to try out the concealer from this collection after a lot of reviewers were saying how similar this concealer is the famous Nars Creamy Concealer. This concealer only cost £2.00 which in itself is so affordable. The concealer itself is described as medium coverage with a semi matte finish. It’s really easy to use as the brush is flat so you can really cover both under eyes in one go. I have to admit I was really surprised that it worked so great with my other foundations because for £2.00 I was a little cynical even though the blogger reviews were quiet high but I’m happy I tried it out and I got proven wrong.
It’s been so nice to play around with new products and brands I haven’t used for a long time, sometimes I think I get so lost in new makeup I let the old favourites go to the bottom of the makeup bag for a while. But I’m getting better at mixing my makeup up and not only using old and new but drugstore and highend together.
Lots of love

Test Drives: Tatcha, CTZN & Face Atelier
Tumblr media
It’s a new month and that means it’s time for some more Test Drives! Since it’s ridiculously hot out and the 4th of July, I decided to do a very simple makeup look that is ultra sheer so that my face doesn’t melt off before the fireworks begin! In my previous Test Drives post, I mentioned how there were a few items that I played with for that look which were pretty cool and deserved their own review article. And those are going to be items that I’m reviewing today. I’ll be covering Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, CTZN’s Nudiversal Lip Duos and Face Atelier’s Face Finish setting spray. As usual, I’ll outline which items were gifted to me by the brand and which I purchased. Full details on my makeup look will be at the end of this post.
Tumblr media
Tatcha The Silk Canvas (purchased)
Okay so in a previous Test Drives post, I reviewed E.L.F. Cosmetics’ Poreless Putty Primer. And while I liked it, I wasn’t able to address whether it was a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas because I didn’t have that product to compare it to. But, I ended up going out and buying the travel size version of The Silk Canvas last month. Now that I’ve used both, I can honestly say that there is no comparison between The Silk Canvas and Poreless Putty Primer.
While E.L.F.’s dupe is a faithful attempt to capture the essence of what Tatcha’s product promises on and delivers, E.L.F.’s is definitely different and the experience between the two is noticeable. First off, E.L.F.’s primer applies wet/damp and then dries down. And if you’re heavy handed, it’s hard to properly buff it in as you’re left with weird beads of product all over your face. Plus while it is a faithful primer that offers a solid base for makeup applications, it did feel a little heavy as opposed to a traditional silicone primer like Smashbox or even E.L.F.’s other bottle-based primers.
In contrast, The Silk Canvas is really lightweight and breathable. Yes, a little goes a long way so you still shouldn’t be caking it on, but it buffs out easier. And most importantly, it doesn’t go on wet. It’s a true velvet-like balm. If I was going to recommend a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, it would be Veil Cosmetics’ Automatte because of the texture, application and finish.
My only complaint about The SIlk Canvas is exactly the same as what I had with E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer. Considering the extreme price difference between Tatcha and E.L.F., would it have killed the brand to include an applicator sponge?!
CTZN Nudiversal Lip Duo in Mexico City & Maldives (gifted)
Everyone knows that “nude” is subjective. So, often enough when a brand claims to make a nude lip, that “nude” can be pretty narrowly applied to one specific segment of the population—fair skinned people. But CTZN is turning that around with a ridiculous number of shades that actually are nude for a variety of skin tones. With 25 shades to choose from, there’s truly a nude out there for you within their collection. I ended up picking both Mexico City and Maldives. For today’s look, I wore Mexico City as a base and added a small swipe of Maldives to add a bit of warmer color. And as you can see from the pic, this is truly my nude.
I love that these nudes are dual ended. So, if you prefer a more matte effect, you can go with the lipstick. However, it’s a very hydrating matte—so no dry etched out lip lines! And then if you prefer more of a sheen, choose the lip gloss end. I opted for the matte side because I’m still stuck on mattes for the most part these days.
Another thing that I love is that, while it is an online brand, they took the time to photograph models of various skin tones wearing each of the 25 shades so you could clearly see how each shade will look on the tone closest to yours. And for the curious, the reason I ended up picking the two hues I did is because for a true nude effect, my skin tone fell between both of these shades and I couldn’t choose between the two.
Face Atelier Face Finish (gifted)
It’s summer and that means that you need to be properly prepping and finishing your face if you’re trying to wear a full look in hot weather. Face Finish from Face Atelier is meant to serve as a prep, setting, and refresh spray—giving you more bang for your buck. If you’re going to use it as a prep, spray it onto your face before you begin to apply makeup. And for setting or refreshing, simply spritz over your face after you finish your makeup or throughout the day so that your look lasts as long as you do.
I think this is a pretty great product with almost no scent (there is a bit of a cucumber smell in there so if you’re scent sensitive beware). My only complaint is that the spray isn’t a soft mist but rather a forceful stream. So, try not to spray it too close to your face otherwise you can end up wet rather than dewy as it dries down.
Final Thoughts
This is one of those Test Drives where I genuinely loved everything I tested. I definitely think the comparison between E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer and Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas are greatly exaggerated—and I wanted to believe the hype. There’s just no comparison between the two, so I’m not sure who started that rumor but they need to stop spreading it. CTZN is an awesome brand for focusing on true inclusivity with a beauty niche that can be really complicated. And Face Atelier’s Face Finish is a great way to set your look. And the small size means you can easily take it with you when you’re out for the day or if you’re traveling.

10 FAVORITE MAKEUP PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR: DRUGSTORE + HIGH-END
In 2017, I came to the realization that I had way too much makeup. This was overwhelming for me because I disliked seeing a majority of my makeup sitting in a drawer and not being used. Some of my followers may have noticed that I’ve taken a long hiatus from my blog (I think January was the last time I was genuinely active). This was in part due to my no-buy attitude. I felt like I couldn’t talk to you guys about makeup if I wasn’t buying anything or trying new products.
Throughout the year, I have been de-cluttering my collection. I’ve disposed of expired products, given makeup to members of my family, and reevaluated the types of makeup I will buy in the future. This year has been full of lessons for me. As I’m taking marketing classes for my degree, I’ve come to realize just how much consumerism has effected my life and how it was unnecessary for me to live with so much stuff that was going to waste.
When I did have to find new makeup or repurchase products that I’d finished, I had to make some cutthroat decisions. I refused to spend the amount of money that I previously did on cosmetics. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills, but NYX has a fantastic brow pomade that works and looks just as great.
Now let’s get into my favorites of the year.
MORPHE X JACLYN HILL BLING BOSS EYESHADOW PALETTE
This palette surprised me. I’m a fan of both Morphe and Jaclyn Hill. I’ve had fantastic experiences with Morphe products, but with recent drama online I was having second thoughts. I was watching so many reviews on Youtube from influencers that didn’t enjoy the Vault collection. I bought this palette months after the craze died down when I saw the Morphe display in Ulta. I bought the palette on a whim because I fell in love with the colors. I was immediately inspired by this palette! I’d spent all of 2018 wearing the same warm toned reds, browns, and orange toned shadows. I was ready for a change and this palette gave me the opportunity to experiment with new colors. The mattes preformed like a dream. I haven’t had one issue with blending these shades. The shimmers are stunning! Absolutely gorgeous! They apply well with a finger or a wet brush. They really pop on my lids. I have created so many different looks with this palette. I love that all the shades compliment each other, but you can mix them in different ways and get a bomb-ass look every time. I’ve really enjoyed this palette and it’s easily become a favorite.
NYX TAME & FRAME TINTED BROW POMADE
Honestly, I was skeptical about this product. I haven’t tried very many NYX products, but the ones I have tried have been hit-and-miss. I didn’t like their translucent powder, their lipsticks can be nice (depending on the formula), and their highlighter was a chunky mess. But, I needed a brow pomade very last minute and I didn’t have many choices. This product was highly rated on all sites (Target, Ulta, Walgreens). I’m so glad that I gave this product a chance because it’s actually a really nice alternative to my favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade. I bought a $2 Morphe brush to use with this product and they work very well together. This pomade doesn’t go on as harshly as the Anastasia one. It’s a much softer product, but you can build it up to get some intensity. As someone who has been using a brow pencil for years, I really appreciated that this product was easy for me to use. The only downside... I had some trouble choosing a color. The boxes don’t have a clear indication of the pomade’s color. The brown shades looked almost identical on the packaging. I was lucky that I picked the right color for me, but I definitely stood in the NYX aisle at Ulta for ten minutes going back-and-forth between shades.
MAYBELLINE DREAM CUSHION FOUNDATION
I bought this product specifically to wear to work. I wanted something that would take minimal effort in the mornings and would give me just enough coverage so that I wouldn’t look so dead to customers. This product was exactly what I was looking for! It was easy to use so I didn’t dread putting on foundation at 6 A.M. I applied the foundation with a beauty sponge from Real Techniques. The finish was great! I have dry skin, so this gave me a pretty glow. This product is marketed as luminous for all skin types, but I would have to disagree. I can sometimes look oily if I wear this foundation for too long. Thankfully, I only work 4 hour shifts so I don’t wear it for long periods of time. In the few instances that I did wear it for more than 4 hours, my skin was textured and overly dewy. I would not recommend this product for people with oily skin. This is a great product for me because it fits my needs and works with my schedule (plus it’s cheap and since I wear it every day to work it’s easy to restock when I need it).
MAYBELLINE FIT ME MATTE+PORELESS TRANSLUCENT POWDER
Again, another product that I love using on days when I want something lowkey. As someone with dry skin, this powder looks great and doesn’t crease. I normally have issues with powder because using a little too much can cause some serious texture and creasing. I have never had this problem when using the Fit Me powder. I use a fluffy brush to apply this powder on my face. This is a nice, solid product and I have no complaints! It looks great, feels great, and it doesn’t have a cheap cosmetic scent. It’s my favorite drugstore powder!
MILANI MAKE IT DEWY SETTING SPRAY (DEWY)
I ran out of my favorite setting spray: Mac Fix+. So I was in the market to try something new (and cheaper). I had seen many beauty influencers use this product on Youtube, so I definitely wanted to try it. I use this product as a setting spray and as an agent to wet shadow on a brush. Sometimes I spritz just a little bit onto a makeup sponge to blend concealer (if my face is extra day one day and I need added moisture). I’ve noticed that my mascara stays on much longer when I use this spray (which is amazing because normally my mascara bleeds). That alone sold me on this product! I also like the fine mist that comes from this bottle.
KAT VON D LOCK-IT SETTING POWDER
If you have dry skin you need this powder! I can bake my contour with this highlight without looking cakey. I put a lot of this powder on my nose where my glasses sit to really set my foundation so that when I take my glasses off for a picture I don’t get that red indentation. This also does a fantastic job of setting my undereye concealer. I love love love this product! As I mentioned before, if I use too much powder on my dry skin my texture becomes really prominent and my foundation will crease. I’ve never had that problem with this foundation!
BURT’S BEES LIP BALM
I’ve never been the girl that uses lip balm. The texture has always bothered me and the fruity flavors weren’t my thing. Honestly, lip balm was something I avoided at all costs. Until I found Burt’s Bees. I am obsessed with the products! This lip balm is so soft. I forget it’s on my lips sometimes and that’s the way I like my lip balm to feel. I use this every time I do my makeup. I put it on my lips while doing the rest of my makeup so that when I put on lipstick my lips will be hydrated.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS LIP GLOSS IN “METALLIC ROSE”
This is my go-to lip product. My ride or die. If you see me in real life, chances are that I’m wearing this product. It’s so gorgeous. Anastasia Beverly Hills makes amazing lip glosses. They’re shiny without feeling thick and goopy on the lips. They’re extremely comfortable and wearable. I have so many great selfies with this lipstick and the shimmer just pops in the photo. Favorite lip gloss of all time!
COLOURPOP HIGHLIGHTER IN “FLEXITERIAN”
This highlight is what I live for. If I were to customize my own highlighter, this would be it. The tone is perfect! I love champagne highlights. The best thing about this product is that it is buildable. I can swipe this over my cheeks with a brush and then dab over it with a beauty sponge to get a more natural glow-from-within look. Or I can pile on this bitch with my finger, blend it out, and then top it with a Becca highlighter for a blinding highlight. I use this highlighter every day. I cannot live without it!
LOREAL INFALLIBLE PRO-GLOW CONCEALER
I have a hard time finding concealers that I like at the drugstore. This has become a new favorite of mine this year because it looks great on my dry skin. The coverage is nice and I will use it to spot-conceal. It’s helped me cover many blemishes this year. It doesn’t break out my skin, which is another issue that I have with drugstore concealers. If you have sensitive skin then I recommend this concealer!

Setting Spray
Setting spray!
Hey guys and gals , today I’m going to give you my review of what I find is a good setting spray to allow you get an insight which would be best for you so let’s get on to it.....
First up is an obvious one for me as its on every YouTube and beauty blog that I see and that would be Urban Decay all nighter setting spray, I have only started using this spray this year only surprisingly but I don’t know why it took me that long because it is one of the best I have every used I ALWAYS! With out a doubt use this spray on a night out as it does what it says it stays all night it is quick drying doesn’t leak your mascara and does not make you get creases it just sits flawlessly in the skin and allows your make up last for the night it is not harsh on the skin and does not have a bad smell I highly recommend this if you love a good setting spray!
Tumblr media
Next up would be the nyx bare with me setting spray its similar to the urban decay but I do find this better for the summer as it is not a very matt setting spray and gives the skin a dewy look and this would be a go to for me in the summer months, it is almost like a mist when you spray it and sets to this skin quick enough leaving a lovely dewy finish its not harsh on the skin at all the formula has an oil in it allowing for it to be softer on the skin and for the price I think its amazing!
Tumblr media
That’s all for this week, you can find both these products on boot.ie
Until next week!

Everyone does this blog once, right? If you have an interest in makeup, that is. I thought I’d go through my current favourite products that I use on an everyday basis! (considering I’m wearing it that day…).
Foundation: Revolution Conceal & Define in ‘F4’
I’m currently loving the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation! It has a doe foot applicator, which I know is a no-go for some people out there, but for me, I find it helps me to apply the foundation precisely where I need it more conveniently. This foundation is the best everyday one that I own, due to, simply how quickly I can get it on my face. You can read my review on this foundation here.
Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection in ‘Extra Fair’
Tumblr media
A cult favourite and a staple in any person’s go-to products, I’m sure. I’ve used this concealer for as long as I can remember now. I flit between this and the Revolution Conceal & Define in ‘C1’, but I find that due to having more product in this one, I use this one slightly more often. I used to use the shade ‘Fair’, but I find that this new, lighter shade is perfect for brightening my under eyes (which is much needed, trust me). I still use ‘fair’ for blemishes if I feel like I need extra coverage!
Powder: Revolution Baking Powder in ‘Lace’
Tumblr media
This is a recent discovery for me, and I’ve been loving it. Before this, I was using Rimmel’s Stay Matte in ‘Translucent’, and I still love that for days where I need a little less. But this little guy is perfect at smoothing everything out, and I find that it helps with my oily skin. I bake my under eyes using my Real Techniques sponge, then use whatever’s left in the lid to dust over the rest of my face with a fluffy brush.
  Contour: Seventeen Define & Conquer
For some reason, this kit doesn’t have a shade name on it, and I can’t for the life of me remember what it was but I’m gonna’ say either ‘light’ or ‘fair’? I probably wouldn’t have bought it in anything darker! I love this little nifty set, it’s such a shame that Seventeen doesn’t exist as a brand anymore! I was a latecomer to this and it’s the perfect colour to use as a bronzer/contour combo, which I love on days where I can’t be bothered to do both (which, let’s be honest, is every day). Inside there are a setting/highlight-y powder thing and a darker shade, and I just adore using it to create definition. I use the paler shade less often, to be honest, as it’s a little too powdery and can emphasise dry patches, but I occasionally dabble.
Brows: Revolution brow pomade in ‘Dark Brown’
Tumblr media
You’re probably sensing a theme here with my favourite products… I can’t deny it, I just swear by and genuinely do use this Revolution stuff every day! This pomade is smooth, pigmented, and the perfect colour to fill in my brows. My only complaint is that because it lasts me so long, it tends to dry up! I once tried adding a drop of baby oil (after a desperate google search) and that seemed to work a treat, but the perfect product would be one where I didn’t have to do this, and I am open to suggestions, so make sure to comment below.
Blush: MUA Pixel Perfect Multi-Blush in ‘Coral Spice’
This little guy is so cute! I love the packaging, for a start, it’s so pretty to look at. This blush is perfect for me as it is not very pigmented. You might be thinking, Chlo, isn’t that a bad thing? But it builds up so nicely so you can apply as much or as little as you like without looking like a pot doll. I’ve never been a bright coloured blush fan, therefore this is ideal for little old me. MUA is such an affordable brand too! Shoutout to their Undress Your Skin highlighters, that stuff is BLINDING.
  Highlight: W7 Glowcomotion
I’ve repurchased this highlighter twice because I hit pan so quickly on it. I absolutely adore this highlighter and I have not yet found one as affordable that compares. It’s the perfect, champagne gold that just gives your skin that perfect glow on your high points. Also, a bonus, it’s a complete dupe for The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer, for a fraction of the price!
  Eyeshadow: Revolution X Soph palette
I adore SophDoesNails’ YouTube channel, so when she announced she was collaborating on a palette for my favourite drugstore brand, I immediately put it in my basket! This shade range has a little bit of everything; cool tones, warm tones, pops of colour, neutrals, shimmers, mattes… the list goes on. I have a few palettes now and I find that I just reach for this one all the time. I’m yet to try her Extra Spice palette, which also looks amazing, so maybe that will be a future favourite?…
  Liner: NYX Epic Ink Liner
Tumblr media
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this liner if I’m honest. When I first bought it, I wore it every single day and adored it. It’s also meant to be a dupe of Kat Von D’s tattoo liner, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. I went through a phase of this liner bleeding like crazy on me, and I wasn’t really sure why and still don’t know to this day. It’s stopped doing it now, therefore I guess it will remain a mystery. It glides on like a dream; super pigmented and precise for wings that could cut you into pieces.
  Mascara: Collection Lash Surge
Tumblr media
I bought this after seeing many a beauty guru swear by it, and I was not in any way disappointed. I’ve been asked a few times if I’m wearing false lashes when I wear this, so that’s good enough for me! It builds volume, length, and looks bomb. One complaint, if I go a bit overboard it can look slightly clumpy, but that’s completely my own fault. Ride or die product.
Lips: Revolution X Soph in ‘Fudge’
This lipstick! The formula, the colour pay off, everything! I just adore it. It’s the perfect brown/orange toned nude. It’s got a slight shine to it, so if you prefer matte finishes I’d suggest blotting it with some powder. One day maybe I’ll branch out from Revolution products… but if they’re so good, why should I?
  Setting Spray: Revolution Sport Fix
Tumblr media
For keeping my make up in place, I have to admit that my ride or die is Urban Decay’s de-slick. But let’s be real, that stuff is so pricey! Therefore, I go to this one for everyday use. It’s not quite as good, but at only £5 a bottle I’ll take it.
There we have it! My everyday products all listed. I hope you enjoyed snooping into what I like to use, and maybe got some inspiration. What are your go-to makeup products? Comment below!

Finally, the hauls I’ve been wanting to post about and review! Had to wait for the last bit to come in to make sure one of the earlier products wasn’t going to get dinged for a sharpening problem, but now it’s all in. The time between receipt and post is actually helpful in another way: it gave me time to use them and give more than a first impressions review for most of them.
So the hauls included my picks from the Sephora VIB sale: the Urban Decay Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette and First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser; Sephora walk in purchases: Milk Makeup Holographic Highlighting Powder in Supernova and a couple Urban Decay eyeshadow singles; and a load of Nyx things: Custom 9- and 4-Shadow Pro Palettes, Prismatic Shadow singles, Hot Singles Pro Shadow singles, Studio Liquid Liner (freebie), Tea Tree Balance Skin Elixir (freebie), Jumbo Lip Pencil in Maroon, #NoFilter Finishing Powder in Medium Olive, A double-ended brush (in the beautiful box; freebie), HD Concealer Wand in Nude Beige (was looking for a lighter concealer/highlighter), a sharpener for the jumbo lip pencil, Simply Vamp Lip Cream in Bewitching, Turn It Up Lipstick Set 1 (with the colors Hollywood, Dahlia, and Wine & Dine), and Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red.
Not reviewing the concealer wand since I’ve reviewed it before and like it. I’m just looking for that right shade that will brighten under my eyes and hide the shadows better...and still looking. lol
Now for the reviews!
Urban Decay Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette ::  I'm loving this palette already. I had purchased the  Urban Decay Moondust Palette and returned it because it was horribly disappointing. I almost skipped on this one because I was concerned the formula for it would be similar, but everyone said it was better, so I risked it during the VIB sale. And everyone was right. These apply wet or dry with no work and without needing glitter glue or anything else to keep them on the lid. Most colors I've tried are beautifully pigmented and glittery, and they're as gorgeous on the eyes as they are in the pan, though one or two of the lighter shades are more difficult to work with (still, the silver and gold ARE silver and gold on the lid; not muddy gray and brown like the Moondust palette's). As people have noted on YouTube, the hardest one to work with is Angelfire. Ways I've worked with it that seem to help: use a stiffer brush, use setting spray or water, or use your finger to apply it. None of these will give you the same coverage as the other shadows, but when patted over another shadow in the collection, it gives a bit more "light" to the color. The other colors apply beautifully. The shadows are soft and almost creamy and can be used alone or over the top of another shadow (which is my current favorite way of using them). The purples in particular aren’t as shiny or glittery when used alone. A number of YouTubers have complained about the set up, but I like it: the slide out tray locks inside and can only be pushed out one way (which is important when considering my makeup storage set up), and I've used the mirror while putting on the make up. It reminds me a bit of an artist's palette. It’s become my favorite holiday palette.
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ::  I've been using fresh Soy Cleanser, which is more expensive, but have been so impressed with the other FAB products I've tried that I had to give this one a shot too. I'm so glad I did! This cleanser is amazing. The consistency of the cleanser itself was surprising: it's very thick; and it has little to no fragrance. A little goes a long way, so the smaller size I purchased will last awhile, making it an even better deal than I originally thought, and it lathers up nicely. It's a very gentle cleanser while doing the job, and leaves my skin soft and smooth. Highly recommend it. The entire line has been pretty impressive.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Singles :: I now own four: Polyester Bride (which is in my 9 palette), Relish (also in my 9 palette now), Rockstar, and Desperation. These shadows are soft and pigmented and gorgeous. Even Desperation, which wasn’t the color I was looking for (Rockstar is closer to what I wanted), is smooth and pigmented. I love them and would love to pick up more some day.
Milk Makeup Holographic Highlighting Powder ::  This highlight is GORGEOUS (the photo seriously does not do it justice). I have the NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette which has a lavender that I resisted trying for awhile, but when I finally did, I was astonished at how good it looked on me. As it turns out, few companies have a lavender solo highlight out, and Milk's was the only one I could actually swatch in Sephora (I believe the other is Becca, but it wasn’t available in the store and is more expensive). It is beautifully shimmery, highly pigmented, smooth and creamy, and can be used set or dry. I just wish there were more of it in the package! I actually initially picked up an Urban Decay liquid lipstick that was a total fail, and exchanged it to get this, and am so happy I did. Had to pay a little more, but I’m loving it.
Custom 9- and 4-Shadow Pro Palettes ::  I picked up the 9 for my custom Christmas colors palette and the 4 for my UD singles (and one Nyx single). I was disappointed that the palettes are cardboard, really good cardboard, but cardboard and don’t have any kind of closure that will keep them from opening in my purse. For the price ($10), I'd have liked a mirror or a decent plastic (I also wish they had a 10 slot palette; they currently only have 4 and 9 slot). That said, they are pretty sturdy and magnetized. They’re also pretty compact—there’s not excess packaging to bulk them up. Overall, they’ll do what I need them to, but I think they could have been better, and as portable as they are, I don’t think they’re travel friendly. (And, yes, you can see that I had some issues depotting a few of my shadows to put in the palettes. *grumps*)
Prismatic Shadow Singles/Refills ::  My first prismatic was free sample for an order last year, and I just tried it. The color is gorgeous and shimmery and the shadow is very pigmented. It even worked over shadows that had issues with blending and smoothness. And the packaging is adorable (can't see it in the photo, but the lid has a little bow at the clasp). Based on that, I picked up more for a custom palette. The Gilded is beautiful, but appears to be a bit more glitter than color (but that could be my skin tone's problem with yellows from almost EVERY company I've tried), and the Frostbite has a bit of lavender and blue in it. Are these Urban Decay level? No. But they still rock, are more affordability, and I eventually want more.
Hot Singles Pro Shadow Singles/Refills ::  I picked up some of these to create a Christmas colors themed palette based on the performance of the prismatic singles. Thing is, with almost any brand, mattes are more difficult to get right than shimmers, and lighter, brighter colors are harder to get pigmented across the board than deeper colors. Sadly, these have the same issues: the diamond dust and spruce barely show up on my skin (even with primer), while the greens and blues were wonderfully pigmented. There were also some color surprises: Bad Seed comes across more pink than red (perhaps because of the gold glitter?) and galactic has a grayish undertone. That said, the darker colors (even the mattes) are pigmented, smooth, and apply and blend well.
Studio Liquid Liner :: I have long since decided I’m not a liquid liner girl. I really want to try gel liner, but liquid and me are a no, so this went into the ProjectBeautyShare.org box that will be going out later this week.
Tea Tree Balance Skin Elixir ::  I really don't see much point in extra elixirs and serums—they just seem like another way for companies to part people from their money.  Then I tried it. I can't speak on the long term effects (yet), but this absorbed quickly and left my skin soft and smooth (unlike the serums that I've tried that have left my skin sightly tacky). I did use a primer over it before my makeup, but I think it helped both with application of my makeup and the feel of my skin after it was on (smooth and soft). And my skin felt smooth and soft after I removed the makeup as well, which was really nice!  I'll be watching to see if it helps with my pimples and texture over time.
Jumbo Lip Pencil ::  I picked this up as an inexpensive way to save $1 (without it, the shipping would have made my total cost $1 more, lol), but wow am I impressed. It's much like a standard lipstick in that it transfers, fades, and needs reapplication (it does dry down a bit, but not as much as liquid lip creams), but it is smooth, creamy, pigmented, and gives (for me) more control over application. And it reapplies without making my lips feel heavy or cakey. The only downside I've found is that they're too big for my benefit sharpener, so I had to order Nyx's sharpener (but it's only $4.50, so not that big of a deal; and the pencil fit the Nyx sharpener and the sharpener did sharpen it nicely, so I’m happy). I've been moving gradually away from the clunkier standard tubes to liquid lip creams and narrower/longer tube lipsticks, and now will be adding these jumbo pencils into the mix as well. I want more colors, so many more colors.
#NoFilter Finishing Powder ::  The color is a match for my skin/foundation, but not sure it would matter if it wasn't because it just disappears on my skin: none of the "dots" I see when using other powders. It sets my makeup without being obvious and cakey and leaves a beautiful finish that's soft to the touch. The texture of the powder is smooth and soft. If it were more matte and blurring, it'd be perfect. Still, after trying nearly a dozen different powders, I've finally found one I like enough to repurchase.
Double-ended Eyeshadow Brush :: Both ends of this brush are soft with longer bristles. They pick up and apply shadow pretty well with a few exceptions (and those they have trouble with any other soft bristled brush would have the same issues). I wouldn’t normally pick up/keep a double ended brush because of storage issues, but they put this in a special box that’s sturdy. the only thing is the size, but while I don’t have a lot of space, I do manage to find room for this. I’ve been using the brush fairly consistently and really like it. And let’s be honest, the box is cute.
Simply Vamp Lip Cream ::  Lordy, I'm loving Nyx lippies! The packaging is a bit on the cheap side with this one, but I do like that it's a twist up rather than a sharpen type—I feel like I waste product when I have to sharpen a pencil, and I'm a bit on the stingy side. This lip cream pencil is creamy, smooth, and pigmented and buildable. There can be a little patchiness when initially applying it, but that's smoothed out during application. And Bewitching is an amazing color: it has become my favorite in all my lipsticks.
Turn It Up Lipstick Set 1 :: I haven’t had a chance to try these fully yet. I did start to put on Dahlia, but it was more purple than I wanted so took it off. I’m hoping when I do use it, it will be less sheer than what I saw in this initial quick swatch. Hollywood is a red, but it’s the wrong red for me, so it’s going into a NEW ProjectBeautyShare.org box (which will go out end of March, I think).
Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red :: I’ve taken a look at the color and think I’ll like it, but haven’t tried it yet.
Whew! domy tried so much! But is so happy with almost all of it!  After this and my last old BH haul, future reviews will be on my subscriptions for awhile. My subs currently are still Ipsy, Sephora Play, and Glossybox, but I’ve given up on waiting for Boxycharm and am giving Lola Beauty Box a try (I’ll have to decide between Glossy and Lola by the end of January). I have some free samples I’ve signed up for across the net that I’ll probably eventually put all in one review post, but they may take a few weeks to get here. Once I have/tested all or most of them, I’ll get a review for those up as well.
I do have a couple palettes I want, but the next buy will have to be skincare refills, we have a major care checkup coming up, and we have to purchase stuff for Christmas dinner for the family (and that will cost a fortune all on its own), so anything else has to wait until next year if kiddos don’t buy it for me. On my wish list? The Sephora Pro palette, the UD Distortion palette, and the HUDA Beauty Obsessions Palette in Electric.I have all my neutrals and glitters, now I just want some strongly pigmented brights (my Nyx palette is great, but I know there are others that have even better pigmentation, and the HUDA has a wonderful yellow that shows up beautifully on my skin).
What are you still wishing for?

Hey doll hey. Sorry for the late start my day has been a series of misadventures. I didn’t sleep well last night, spilled coffee all over my bedroom floor, my hair wont cooperate, my makeup wont cooperate, I couldn’t get good pictures for today’s post, and I’m just in an all around bad mood. Ever have one of those days where everything that could go wrong does?? Yup that’s today. Today I have a full face of Physicians Formula makeup to try out. As a side note there was 1 product of this purchase that I did not use and I’ll explain more in my full face review in the next post. I will not have a final thoughts section in this post so that I can dedicate a post to the full on review…. well let’s jump into it.
Tumblr media
Base: I used the Physicians Formula Softlight Blurring Primer ($14.95 on their website). My foundation today is the Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation ($15.99 on their website) in the color LN4 Light Neutral. I concealed my under eyes using the Physicians Formula Conceal RX ($10.49 on their website) in the color Natural Light. I set my under eyes using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website). I set the rest of my face using the Physicians Formula Natural Defense Setting the Tone Finishing Powder ($14.99 on their website) in the color medium. This color was way too dark for me so I ended up having to bake my jaw line, center of my forehead, and my nose. I warmed up the face using the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($14.95 on their website) in the color Bronzer.
Tumblr media
Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey. Today I am using the Physicians Formula Butter Eyeshadow Palette ($17.99 on their website) in the color way Tropical Days. I set my Shape Tape using the color Barefoot in Brazil (medium cream matte). As my first transition shade I used the color Coastal Chic (a dusty light coral matte). For my second transition shade I chose the color Sand Dunes (a medium yellow toned brown matte). I used the color Heat Wave (a deep terra cotta orange matte) on the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid and into the out v. I deepened the outer v and out 1/3 of my mobile lid using the color Coco Loco (a deep true brown matte). I took more of Heat Wave to my lower lash line and created a drop shadow buffing a bit of Coastal Chic to blend the drop shadow out. I highlighted the inner corners with Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on their website) in the color Honey Dew (a pale pink shimmer). I did my eye brows using the Benefit Precisley My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the color 4.5 and set the brows using NYX Tinted Brow Mascara ($7.50 at Ulta) in the color Espresso. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and set that down using the color White Sands (a cream toned white matte). I lined my waterlines using the Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eyeliner ($5 on their website) in the color Nude. For mascara I am using the Physicians Formula Eye Booster Lash Contortionist Mascara ($11.49 on their website) in the color Ultra Black.
Tumblr media
Cheeks and Lips: For my blush today I used the Physicians Formula Butter Blush ($12.95 on their website) in the color Beachy Peach (a peach with coral shift satin). I highlighted the tops of my cheek bones, center of my forehead, nose, and Cupid’s Bow using the Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter ($11.49 on their website) in the color Champagne (a medium toned gold).I lined my lips using Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($22 on the Beautylish Website) in the color Pillow Talk and then filled in my lips using the Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick ($8.49 on their website) in the color All Natural Nude (a mid-toned true nude) and then topped the center of the lips off with the Physicians Formula Murmuru Butter Lip Cream ($8.49 on their website) in the color Guava Mama (a coral peach).
I then set my face using the Milani Make It Last 16-HR wear Setting Spray ($9.99 on their website).
Well that’s all for this post dolls… stay tuned for my full face review of the products I used from Physicians Formula.   Remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
Full Face of Physicians Formula Face of the Day Hey doll hey. Sorry for the late start my day has been a series of misadventures. Hii my beauties 💋  !!
The most awaited beauty event of Maputo and Mozambique happened this past weekend, where it gathered all Mozambican beauty junkies, national and international makeup artists, beauty related services providers and a lots more.
I was honored to be invited by the lovely Candice (The Makeup Company) to be a part of this epicness. I, myself, got to chat with so many creators, exhibitors and people that love my work, so it was definitely an especial and unique experience for me.
And here is a little video that I created, with bits of the event that I captured.
youtube
Now let me explain in details what presentations and exhibitions took place, this was a two day even with the following SCHEDULE:
Day 1 27.September.2019, 14h-19h
Day 2 29.September.2019, 09h-18h
·         Introductory words by the infamous Mozambique Stylist, Taibo Bacar;
·         Masterclass by The Makeup Company (Candice);
·         Drag Performance;
·         Exhibitions viewing.
  ·         DMK Skincare Presentation by Innova Skincare;
·         Beauty Blogger Presentation;
·         Drag makeup tutorial;
·         Dr. Matheo presentation;
·         Kohl Makeup Academy presentation;
·         Local Makeup Artists Competition;

·         Mish Lee Presentation.
With every Trade Show, this one also had GOODIE BAGS, and we got them on the first day, the day of the Masterclass, it had:
A Lip Gloss by Inglot;
A Blush by Boticário;
And lots of Coupons for every single exhibitor that was present there (WHICH IS SO COOL! I CANNOT WAIT TO TRY OUT ALL THOSE SERVICES).
Tumblr media
The who’s who of Mozambican Beauty community was there and here the full list of EXHIBITORS and PARTNERS:
Tumblr media
Candice, on her MASTERCLASS created a wearable smoky eye on her Masterclass that is right about my alley, I absolutely love looks like these, so I couldn’t help myself and recreated this look, by using the products already existing in my collection.

Mascara: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black
I have to acknowledge what The Makeup Company (TMC) did here, this was a major thing to pull off, and I applaud her for that, gathering all beauty community was definitely not an easy task, believe me, and it was an EXPERIENCE that the ones who participated know how special and important it was, just like Taibo Bacar said ‘we will be honored  to say that we were in the 1st ever TMC Trade Show’, it was a monumental moment in the Mozambican beauty community, for sure.
Now, because it was the first event of this nature, I will not talk about numbers, it was the first one so it was expected that people would be skeptical and would want to sit it out just to understand what it is about.
Tumblr media
With this event she managed to bring international makeup artists, brands, influencers and even drag queens (which I am kinda obsessed with), I learned a lot from each and every one of them, and I think that everyone that was present at this event also did.
Overall I would say that this was a very important and necessary event for the Mozambican beauty community, and this is not a bias review, I just want to show the bigger picture and help everyone understand how important this event was and is to pave its path for the beauty community in Mozambique.
I absolutely loved this Trade Show and with this post I would like to thank Candice in behalf of the beauty community for making this happen for us, and I cannot wait for the second edition!

How The Ordinary by Deciem changed my life (or why I will never return to that hack dermatologist ever again).
I've been meaning to write this review for a while, because I have been beyond impressed by my skin care routine based in The Ordinary products by Deciem for months, but it wasn't until I switched to their foundation recently that I decided to actually sit down and pen this.
Firstly, I need to tell you, MY SKIN IS AN ANGERY BEAST. I have HORRIBLE hormonal cystic acne on my chin – 1-2 big swollen red beasts at a time, that are not only unsightly but painful, lasting sometimes upwards of months, leaving horrible scars behind.
Side story time: I was referred to a dermatologist by my doctor, and it took months to get into my appointment. I sat with him, and while he was gentle and helped me understand some other skin concerns, he proceeded to TOUCH MY FACE with a gloveless hand, and cause several huge problems to form on my face the next few days. He also didn't actually address any of my issues regarding the cysts, as all he did was suggest topical Retinol and to stop eating gluten (because as a chronic pain sufferer, yknow, like I haven't tried all those elimination diets before this).
The makeupless photos at the top of this post were taken the morning of my appointment, after about one month of switching my routine to The Ordinary products. While I clearly still have some problems, and I still have issues that pop up, my healing time has been taken from 2-3 months to 1-2 WEEKS.
The thing I love about these products are that everything is a 1-2 ingredient treatment. It makes for extra steps, sure, but also allows you to tailor the treatments to your specific needs, without any extra ingredients or irritants. For me, it was finding the ingredients to help dry out the worst of the blemishes, and then help to heal the wounds and scars left behind, as well as help retain moisture.
I spoke to the employees at Deciem and they helped me select items to start my journey.
My skincare routine is a mix of a few brands still, with the majority of products being from Deciem’s Ordinary line.
I start with a cleanser, depending on my skin’s condition for that day, I either use the Mario Badescu Orange Cleansing Soap with AHA for gentle exfoliation ($15CAD on obsessedcanada.com), or if my spots are extra dry, I use an Yves Rocher aloe exfoliating cleanser with salicylic acid (which is apparently no longer available on their site!! Oh no!!).
Tumblr media
After cleansing, in the morning, I use The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + ZInc 1% ($5.90CAD) all over my face to help prevent blemishes and reduce the scarring from previous break outs.
Tumblr media
Every second night, instead of the N+Z treatment, I do a full face of Advanced Retinoid 2% ($9.80CAD) to help with aging skin because HELLO I AM NO LONGER 20 YEARS OLD.
Tumblr media
For my problem spots, I treat the area with a Salicylic Acid 2% spot treatment ($4.90CAD), which also contains Witch Hazel for soothing properties, as the acid itself is very drying (which is the point, duh, but it can make especially horrible spots dry, flaky and itchy sometimes).
Tumblr media
For moisture, I again turn to Yves Rocher as I found the Deciem moisturizers a little to heavy for my skin, and I reach for the Anti-Redness Moisturizer Sensitive Vegetale ($28.00CAD), which is a gel based moisturizer with anti-redness properties.
Tumblr media
And for extra dry days, and overnight treatments, I use The Ordinary 100% Squalane Oil ($7.90CAD) which is plant derived, and makes my skin look plump and full.
Tumblr media
SUPER AWESOME RIGHT? So now that skin care is covered, let’s talk about the amazingness that is Deciem’s The Ordinary primer and foundation, okay?
So the third picture of me is an un-retouched makeup photo using The Ordinary Coverage Foundation. As you can see, there’s still problem areas, and my skin is still pitted from previous breakouts, but overall, it looks 1000000000x better than it did a year ago, and it’s only been a few months with these products.
I start with the High Adherence Silicone Primer - I’ve had so many issues with primer in the past just not doing it’s job. I’ve tried literally every type of primer available and probably spent hundreds of dollars in the process. Who knew all I needed was a basic silicone primer that cost less than a tube of anti chaffing gel (4.90CAD).
Tumblr media
Okay, this post has gone on long enough, but I want to finish out with a comprehensive review of The Ordinary Coverage Foundation which is the new love of my life. At $6.90CAD a bottle, I will gladly replace every $50+ bottle of not-quite-good-enough foundation with this bad boy. It tends to sell out quickly, so if you can get your shade, I would recommend ordering a few at a time (although, a 30ML bottle will last you quite some time, which I will cover in my review).
Tumblr media
Comparatively speaking, I will use my previous foundation, the Cover FX Natural Finish Foundation in shade N10 as the basis for my review. I’d been wearing that particular foundation for about 1 year, and while the colour match was fantastic, there was so many problems with this foundation honestly. The unfinished texture was slightly sticky to the touch, and required a LOT of powder to be set. Even after being set with powder and spray, I found that any time anything touched my face, the amount of transfer was ridiculous. Not only that, but as I mentioned earlier, I’m no longer a spring chicken and I have fine lines, and this foundation - even after priming - would sink into all my little lines! Not cool Cover FX. Not. Cool.
So, let’s get on to the actual review. Now, of course, not every product is perfect. This one is *nearly* there, but they need to extend the shade selection in the darker end of the range. While they do have many more shades than your average white brand, there’s still not as many shades for people of colour as there is for us pale folks. I’m hoping that they will extend the line, and they definitely listen to customer feedback, so if you don’t see a shade that matches your tones, I highly suggest writing or tweeting the lovely team.
The texture of this product is amazing. A velvety smooth matte finish makes skin looks natural and glowy. However, as this does not have the same “stickiness” as my previous foundation, I find that I have to layer on my blusher a little extra to give it the same pigmentation I had previously. However, the coverage is absolutely amazing, and it only takes a VERY small amount (1 pump) to do a whole face, including my trouble spots which are often very deep red. Considering my last 30ML tube of CoverFX foundation lasted about 5 months, and required a much larger amount for a full coverage, I see this bottle lasting me quite some time, and will update this review when the bottle has run out with an official timestamp. Also - NO TRANSFER. I set with an ELF HD Powder, and NYX Mattifying setting spray, and I spent all day today trying on clothes, and didn’t leave makeup on anything!
Honestly, I need to gush about this so hard. I want to share my experience with the world because a) their products are a broke person’s godsend, and b) they’ve 100% changed my skin for the better. If anyone from Deciem is reading this and wanna hook me up, HOLLER!!!! No, seriously, love y’all so much.

Test Drives: Tatcha, IT Cosmetics & Sephora Collection
Tumblr media
It’s been a bit since I’ve written a Test Drives article! So, let’s kick off March with a few great finds that I made in the last few weeks. I’m always on the hunt for great dupes, must have moisturizers and effective foundations, and that’s exactly what I’m covering in today’s post. I’ll be reviewing Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, IT Cosmetics’ newest release Confidence in a Foundation, and Sephora Collection’s Golden Hour highlight. As usual, I’ll outline whether an item was purchased or gifted. So let’s get to it!
Tumblr media
Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist (purchased)
I picked up this travel friendly version at Sephora while I was in San Francisco because I felt like my skin was getting dry while I was out one day. The premise is that this can help to instantly infuse the skin with moisture thanks to the mist’s natural botanical ingredients. To use, simply shake the bottle, hold it two to three inches from your face and mist. This can be used under makeup or as a refresh throughout the day.
What I liked
This is a truly hydrating spray which evaporates fairly quickly. That’s not to say that you don’t get the moisturizing benefits. It’s more like saying it doesn’t take forever for the mist to absorb into the skin. While this mist has a more natural/essential oil style scent, it’s not offensive. Of course, the small size makes this ideal for traveling.
What could be better
This isn’t so much a complaint as an honest observation. Most people who review this product rave about how it instantly improves the condition of their skin. While I like this product and definitely use it fairly regularly, I can’t say that I get better results using this either as a refresh or pre-makeup step as opposed to some of my other facial mists or even oils that I typically use.
Sephora Collection Golden Hour Highlight in Twilight (purchased)
Tumblr media
This is yet another item I picked up while I was in SF. I can honestly say it was an impulse buy because I saw the purple pan on the gondola and instantly thought it could be a dupe for my personal favorite highlighter, Kevyn Aucoin’s Neo-Limelight in Ibiza.
What I liked
I was right, this is most definitely a dupe for Kevyn Aucoin. In the pic above, you can see that I have two swatches on my wrist. The top swipe is from the upper half of Kevyn Aucoin’s Ibiza pan on the left, and the bottom swipe is from Sephora’s pan on the right. If you say that you can tell a difference on my arm (not in the pan because clearly they look different in the pan), you’re full of it! I’ve always been a fan of Sephora’s powders, and this is no different. This particular highlight is finely milled which means you get minimal fallout. More importantly, you have great color pigmentation with this and don’t need to use a lot of product to get strong color payoff.
And something in particular that I actually prefer with Sephora’s Golden Hour is that the shimmer is uniform rather than an obvious gradient. As much as I love Kevyn Aucoin’s Ibiza, as you see in the pic above, I clearly don’t use the paler half of the pan, mainly because that paler portion can end up making me look frosty. So, technically speaking, half of the pan is wasted on me. In contrast, since Sephora’s version is more uniform, I can use the entire pan—making this a very cost effective product.
What could be better:
Nothing, I really like this product and didn’t find any issues with it.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Foundation in Rich Warm (gifted)
Tumblr media
If you followed my IG stories or checked out my IG Beauty Events Highlight, you know that last week I attended IT Cosmetics’ Spring product launch. Those of us who came out went home with a goodie bag full of skincare products and more importantly, a 10-bottle sampling of their newest color cosmetics launch, Confidence in a Foundation, as well as an additional bottle that we received at their shade match station during the event. These 10 shades are considered their most popular hues that testers gravitated towards during the R&D stage.  This particular foundation comes in 48 hues, with plenty of options for darker skin tones. Confidence in a Foundation is meant to be full coverage with a velvet matte finish.
If you notice that I have 12 rather than 11 bottles (10 + 1 for my shade) in this pic, that’s because when I was at the event, the lighting wasn’t the best and I felt like I was falling between shades. So the MUA who helped me test colors sent me home with two shades.
What I like:
I’m really glad that IT has finally come out with a foundation that’s truly accessible for all skin tones. As much as I’ve appreciated some of their other CC creams, their color options were usually fairly limited with only two or three options for the #teambrownskin or #teamdarkskin crowd. Their previous brown hues would always have a bit too much orange or red in them, meaning that I’d have to limit their wear until the summer when I’m tan and can better match the shades. But this time, I have a shade that matches my “late Fall to Spring” shade.
That aside, I also like that even though this is a full coverage it didn’t feel heavy. Full disclosure, I typically avoid full coverage foundations because I don’t need that level of coverage. Normally I find this coverage level to be too intense, like I’m wearing a mask. That definitely wasn’t the case with Confidence in a Foundation. However to make sure that it didn’t feel or look too heavy, I applied the foundation sparingly and blended with a damp brush.
Today wasn’t my first time trying this product as I’ve probably rocked it a time or two before. I’ve currently been wearing it for just about six hours and it’s still wearing fairly well. More importantly, it plays well with other products too. So, if you’re layering via contour or highlight, it doesn’t slide around or fade away throughout the day.
What could be better:
So, as much as I think this product is great, there is one thing that is somewhat questionable to me. IT Cosmetics claims that Confidence in a Foundation offers a velvet matte finish. No. As compared to their Matte CC+ Cream which is a favorite of mine in warmer weather, this is not matte. Even during the time it took for me to apply my makeup (about 15 - 20 min), this foundation never “dried down” to a soft matte finish like the CC cream did. And I applied my foundation first since I wasn’t doing eye shadow today. At 6 hours out right now, I definitely have shine and would need to touch up with my setting powder to mute that sheen. Mind you, I wasn’t doing anything intense today unless you consider driving to LaGuardia to pick up the hubby and going to dinner afterwards a hefty day of activities.
My Verdict:
Honestly, everything was a winner for me this time. While I did question a few of the claims of Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and IT Cosmetics’ Confidence in a Foundation, they’re both still great products that I would use.
