I'm Back!

Saying that he missed her would be an understatement. After all, he made sure to phone her up every evening when in Florence, even if he woke her up in the middle of the night.

“Wahaha~! Hello Miss Ghost~! How was your day!?” He would always begin the conversation somehow, his voice awfully loud.

“Huh? L… Leo… It's 2 am… Sleepy…” She said, sounding beyond drowsy.

“Sleepy? Ah, you were sleeping! How unusual. Aren't you usually awake at that time?”

“Not when morning shifts…”

“Huh, really? Even now?”

“It's work…” She had sighed at the time, then it got followed up by a yawn. “Anyway, what? You in need? Uh… Urgent?”

Her speech sounded choppy and it could mean anything. But Leo has talked to Ann several times before. By now he was able to make out what she was trying to tell him no problem whatsoever! It's easy for him to understand by now! Easy peasy! “Oh, nothing really. I just wanted to check up on you and hear your voice.”

“Eh?” A moment of silence had kicked in. How was she reacting? It was hard to tell when he couldn't see her face but her not saying anything actually had said it all, ironically enough. Not a peep, only silence. Was this ghost turning into all shades of red? She was very easy to fluster and it's adorable. But at the same time he had not been teasing, far from it. He was just being completely honest with her, and why shouldn't he be? “My voice!? L… Leo! Not the time! I mean–”

“But I wanna! If I don't, I might not be able to fall asleep myself!”

“Uhm…Voice messa–”

“No! It has to be live! I want to talk to you directly, y'know!” He was not going to take ‘no’ for an answer at least. Oh how he was itching to tell her everything which had been going on today! But Leo actually knew that this was probably not going to happen. He will have to wait for that. But he could at least make room to hear her melody for a little bit, right?

“Uh… Not returning in… Days? A few? I thi–”

“It doesn't have to be long! Please Ann–Chan! Five minutes! Pretty please!?“

“Ah– Ok ok! But only five…”

It was not uncommon for the conversation to take that turn. Five minutes was just barely enough for Leo but it had to do. Otherwise he'd just see himself missing her more which results in spacing out and having Sena's usual scolding in his ears! Well… That or Leo would just clutter the place with compositions to distract himself here and there which also resulted in Sena being angry when he returned home. Wait, the latter was going to happen either way, wasn’t it?

But that’s how things worked when the two were on a distance. Honestly, at a point Leo had suggested to just drag Miss Ghost along. He wanted to do just that. The response he got for such a suggestion?

“Are you insane!? I’m not letting that inside at any point! ” Sena said, almost yelling. “ Also, are you stupid!? You can’t just drag someone with a job away from there when you feel like it! ”

Even though he sometimes did the same… Boo. But fair point, one Leo had not considered at first. She couldn’t just leave for a while and come back. So it was much to his own dismay as well. Having to be separated like this for a while… It was more about him not wanting to yet he had no choice in the end.

But one had to see a different side as well to all of this. Because this meant one thing when coming back home, right back to Japan. In fact, it was one of the first things Leo wanted to do when landing. He didn’t even wait and had just dashed off the moment he had managed to get out of the airport and directly into the main building at Ensemble Square. In fact, he seemed in a rush probably but he did not care. A quick walk up the stairs and heading to one of the doors, the destination more than clear. And when he found the right door he—

Wait no, wrong door. Several times actually. He was interrupting meetings and quiet work flows, he had to apologize and excuse himself. Looks like all the time spent in Florence Leo had forgotten where the office was. But he was going to pull through, even if he had to do it trial on error.

So, let a few minutes pass and finally he had opened the right door. So yelling “I’m back~!” was more than appropriate in this case, right? Yeah!

And even then, he was met with the sight of Miss Ghost falling over out of shock in her own seat, lifting herself up slowly to come face–to–face with him.

“Ah!? L… Leo!? When—” She was about to say yet he interrupted her by stepping closer, unable to hide his grin.

“Just now!” He said. “I couldn’t wait y’know!” He even walked behind the desk, only to assault her with a sudden hug, a quick hum escaping his lips. He was overwhelmed with joy, and even then that was an understatement. Then again, the tune he was humming should have made it obvious to her, just how happy he was. After all, he missed her a great deal!

“Ah… R… Right, of course but… Work…” She wanted to say yet the stuttering said it all. He didn’t even need to look up to get the hint, how flustered she was. And even yet, he looked up at her, probably having the widest possible grin on his face at that point.

“Say say, there’s a lot I have to tell you!” He said, not even getting into the topic of work. He didn’t really want to at that point. “Oh, and a few new songs I composed! I should play them to you!”

“Eh!? I am… up for it but… Now?”

“It’ll be fine. Besides, you probably forgot your break anyway~” Something he meant more as a joke yet when spotting Ann’s embarrassed face while looking away…That had said it all. “Alright,that settles it then! I’ll play them to you right now Ann–Chan!”

“Right now!? Bu—”

“No buts~” Maybe he was just being a little selfish here however. After all, he wanted to take this chance to spend time with her. It’s been far too long so he may as well go on ahead. Not as if she was going to get into trouble for it anyway. And if she did… Well, that’s to worry about if they ever get there!

Romi & Juliet Plot Synopsis

The plot of this classic retelling has been kept under lock and key and faced many-a plot change, but now that auditions have happened and our writer/director has seen her potential cast’s skill sets, she has decided that before cast lists are posted, the secret will be revealed. After toying with a few different ideas, Romi has decided to go with a more classic and less personal interpretation of the original.

Romi & Juliet is an original jukebox musical filled with hit pop songs and an original script written by Romi Anja Arendelle.

Taking place in modern Walt day, we set the scene with our Montagues and Cauplets, engaging in a brawl in the street. (”Gives You Hell” -- The All-American Rejects) After this is broken up by the Prince, we then meet Paris, who asks Lord Capulet about courting his daughter, Juliet. Lord Capulet then invites Paris to the ball they are throwing that evening. Outside of the Capulet cottage we meet Romi, confiding in her cousin Benvolio, about her lost love, Rosaline. (”Somebody That I Used to Know” -- Gotye) Benvolio suggests they attend the Capulet ball where they may see her.

That night, Romi and the Montagues sneak into the Capulet ball, where Romi meets Juliet. (”Glad You Came” -- The Wanted) They are in love, and it shows. Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, catches Romi at the ball and nearly kills her but Lord Capulet spares her. That night, on the back porch of Juliet’s cottage, Romi sneaks to profess her love for her. (”Earned It” -- The Weeknd). They agree to get married, and are married by Friar Laurence in secret the next day.

Though our newlyweds’ bliss is not for long, when Tybalt challenges Romi to a duel. She refuses, but Mercutio steps in. Mercutio is killed, and Romi kills Tybalt to avenge him. (”Fighter” -- Christina Aguilera) The Prince sees the whole thing and exiles Romi. But rather than get on the Walt Express, Romi hides in Juliet’s cottage. (”Girlfriend” -- Icona Pop)

Juliet then visits Friar Laurence to get a fix for their plight. And he presents her with a magic potion that he has snuck into Walt and past its magic block that will knock her out for an appropriate amount of time so her parents will think she’s dead long enough for her to run away with her love. Juliet takes the potion and falls into a dreamy sleep. (”R.E.M.” -- Ariana Grande) She passes out near a legendary grave. The message, however, doesn’t reach Romi and, after buying an actual death potion, comes to the grave to find Juliet to be what she believes is dead. (”R.E.M.” -- Reprise) Paris meets her there to grieve, and confronts Romi about being an outlaw. Romi then slays Paris in a climactic confrontation. (”Fighter/Gives You Hell” (Reprise).

Romi then drinks her potion, and dies. Juliet awakens from her slumber and finds Romi dead. She grieves, and kills herself with Romi’s dagger. But our heroines are not dead! They rise from their eternal sleeps, and the graveyard fades away to reveal a sea of stars. They are in the middle of a galaxy, and their world is about to be reborn. (”Cosmic Love” -- Florence + the Machine)

Current Music Obsessions: May 1 - 16, 2017

I know I’m a bit late on this, but I was so busy throughout the week, but here are my obsessions for the first half of May! I’ve fallen behind on videos again, so there are gonna be quite of few of everything. ANYWAYS, let’s get into it! Here are the honorable mentions.

Here come the obsessions, and a little heads up, several are from Eurovision.

1) Node - The Plot Survives

This song is rather simple, being mainly an instrumental song. The only singing is brought by guest singer, Lisy Stefanoni of Evenoire (which I discovered this song through her), but even then it's just vocalizing. But that and her flute solo are what makes this song so wonderful. The simplicity of it and the atmospheric metal vibe that it gives off is wonderful.

2) The Great Discord - Darkest Day

This is the first single off of their upcoming album and I am so hyped for it! I discovered this band last year and immediately became obsessed with them. They're a progressive metal band with djenty moments (even though they call themselves progressive death pop, which oddly suits them) and lyrical themes that are similar to Ghost. So if you're like me and can't get into Ghost, but want something similar, check them out. ANYWAYS, this song is absolutely epic and Fia looks AMAZING in the video!

3) Elantris - Ellie

Elantris is a symphonic metal band from the US that is actually really great! I came across these guys after finding out they're one of the openers for Epica's Universal Principle tour in the States later this year and decided to give them a listen and I am hooked. This band is a force to reckon with and I can't wait to hear more from them and I HOPE I can go to the Universal Principle tour!

4) Ethereal Dawn - In Your Theocracy

This song is absolutely epic. I love it so much when bands bring in middle eastern musical influences into their music. I don’t know why, I just do, and this song does just that. It’s such an amazing and bombastic power metal track with such strong middle eastern influences and I absolutely love it.

5) Florence + the Machine - Cosmic Love

I came across this song through a friend sharing it on Facebook. It's so lovely. I haven't heard a bad song from Florence + the Machine yet and I don't think I ever will. Their music is just so pleasant and wonderful, and this song is all of those things.

6) Scenario II - Rapture

I discovered these guys a few months ago and I am loving them. This song is so pretty and so aggressive. So good. It's also rather simple, but the execution of it is absolutely amazing.

7) Oracles - Dawn of the Sycophant

THIS. IS. EPIC. This song is very different compared to their debut album, yet very much still on brand for them. It has a bit of a symphonic black metal feel to it and it is awesome. I cannot wait to see what else they bring and if they're going to continue is this blackened symphonic direction.

8) Helion Prime - Remnants of Stars

This is their first single featuring their new front woman, Kayla, and it is amazing. It's so good! I was a bit worried that Kayla wouldn't be able to match up to Heather, but she does and has a similar sounding voice and has a bit more power than her. I'm so excited to see what else they bring with her. Also this song has a huge sci-fi/space theme to the lyrics which I truly adore.

9) The Anix - Hollow

This song is so wonderful and a great song to veg out to. It has a slight new wave feel to it and the whole vibe of it just makes you feel so relaxed. I'm definitely am going to check out more from these guys, for this song has definitely grabbed my attention.

10) DOOL - Oweynagat

I discovered this band through Charlotte Wessels of Delain, for she made a post on Facebook giving them a shoutout, so I figured I'd give them a listen. I'm so glad I did, because this is something unlike anything I've ever heard. It has a classic rock feel, but is also rather doomy. I am definitely am going check out more from them.

11) Lucie Jones - Never Give Up On You

This was the UK's entry for Eurovision this year. This was the first year that I TRIED to keep up with the competition, but since I live in the US, that is near impossible since I don't think they air it on TV here and most of the videos on ESC YT channel are blocked here. ANYWAYS, this song is absolutely gorgeous and I loved it.

12) Kasia Mos - Flashlight

This was Poland's entry for Eurovision and it's definitely one of the more different songs that made it on there this year, being that it's a more experimental track. This was my personal third favorite entry this year. So good and so lovely.

13) Anja - Where I Am

Denmark's entry was so good! Such a fun and upbeat song compared to all the ballads and slower songs that happened this year. Her voice is absolutely wonderful and she looked so gorgeous in this video. This was my second favorite this year. So good.

14) Slavko Kalezic - Space

This was Montenegro's entry and it was the gayest one on this year and I fucking love it. I knew they wouldn't win, but the fact that it's such a fun song and the video just screams the gay club scene made me fall in love with it. Also can we talk about that fierce ass ponytail? YAS BITCH!

15) Tamara Gachechiladze - Keep the Faith

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE THIS YEAR. The drama, the power, the message; it's so fucking good! I can understand why it didn't make it far, but it's my number one favorite entry. You all should know this by now: the more dramatic a track is, the more I'm going to love it. And Tamara looks absolutely STUNNING in this video.

16) Elyose - Rédemption

I've known of this song for a while now, but I saw it pop up and decided to listen to it and started obsessing over it. It's such a great song. It's like a blend of prog, industrial metal and a little bit of symphonic metal. It just throws me off that the singer looks so adorable and tiny, yet she has such a strong and powerful voice. So good. So good. HIGHLY recommend it!

That’s it for the first half of May. The second is probably gonna be just as long or possibly longer, sooo yeah.
