Doctor Who rant, feel free to ignore lol

Doctor Who always gets real bad when it tries to do “plot” stuff. I like it better as a weekly adventure show, that seems to be its strong suit. I just don’t understand how anyone could have liked the past few seasons. Jodie Whittaker deserved so much better than to be part of probably what is the worst written part of DW.

It’s like they literally went out of their way to ruin anything that made DW interesting and compelling by trying to add weird, stupid, kind of “chosen one” story. The best part of The Doctor is that they’re just a person - and also an almost immortal alien lol, but just a person, it could be anyone with that box, The Doctor isn’t supposed to be super important and stuff. That kinda feels like where DW fails the most, is trying to make The Doctor to be some kind of incredible superhero or something as opposed to a person who just gets into adventures with their friends.

That’s why these last few seasons were just so much worse. And it sucks even more because so many chuds and idiots are going to blame it on The Doctor being a woman or something like that, as opposed to a complete destruction of the character and their backstory. I wonder how in the world they’ll fix it, I don’t know if they even can.

My friend and I were talking about bigeneration and I had a thought— what if the Curator is in 14’s line, not 15’s? And what if 14’s line can ONLY use old faces now. AND, what if he has to go in backwards order??

So when he regenerates, it’s back to 13’s face. She spends that whole lifetime with Yaz. And with each new life he gets a new career, and when it’s 4’s face he knows it’s time to be the Curator.

#I hated The Giggle a lot less the second time. I’m still processing stuff but those rough moments were less rough #when I watched with an overall lore lens rather than a meta lens #remove the rtd choices and let it be the doctor’s story #I have another post I need to make about the fact that he cut the toymaker off when he was talking about the flux #maybe to save himself from having to talk about Yaz because it still hurts #and 14 and 15 didn’t need to mention Yaz to each other. they mention Sarah Jane and Rose because Donna met them #(did he mention River? Aaa I really loved Wild Blue Yonder! Doctor Who episodes that are heavy on the horror are just soooo *chef’s kiss* especially episodes where the Doctor has no information and they do that thing where they have fear and curiosity in equal parts <3

I mean, the way The Doctor looked out into the nothingness, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a millisecond after realising he had not-Donna in the TARDIS where The Doctor considered giving her a quick scan before throwing her out.

personlly i found the not-things fucking hilarious

slapped. love me an episode with The Horrors

Lalna: Human, fell into the Demon Realm as a teenager(15ish). Invented his own working staff (Belos Style) and studied on the Potions track in school. Thinks the Coven system is rubbish but because he’s human and can’t do “real” magic his bounty isn’t as high as other Wild Witches. Is good friends with(and secretly aided by) Nano. Has a frequent conflicts with Rythian which he believes is a friendly rivalry(Rythian would heavily disagree). His cat Tiddles(not pictured here) followed him into the Demon Realm and gets into and out of incredibly dangerous situations daily(how Lalna hasn’t had a heart attack yet, he’s not sure).

Rythian: Oracle Witch, Dragon Palisman named Bane. Met Lalna in his first day at school, loathing at first sight. Calls Lalna’s staff a “crime against magic”. Fully believes in the Coven system, but is slowly coming to see the faults in it with the help of Zoeya and Teep(and Lalna, begrudgingly). Writes books about rare magic beasts for a living. (Honestly could have been a really good Beast Keeper if he’d wanted too, or so Zoeya keeps telling him). On track to becoming the Oracle Coven head, but he actually doesn’t really want that. He’s not a fan of the attention being a Coven head could bring. He collects difficult bountys on the side.

Nano: Abomination Witch, Penguin Palisman named Billy. Treats Billy more like a pet than anything and is always worried about him getting hurt(living with Lalna’s destructively clumsy ass doesn’t help). Found Lalna in the woods after he fell into the Demon Realm and helped him adjust to the world(kinda inverse of canon lmao). Is one of the few Witches fully capable of kicking your ass without the use of magic. Despite being in a Coven, she’s fully sus of the Emperor’s Coven and the whole system. She only really joined one at the behest of her Mother. Also because Lalna needed someone he could rely on who wouldn’t be on the radar of the Emperor. She hides him in her basement.

Sometime in the future, Lalna accidentally gets Nano and himself cursed with something between Flux and the Owl Beast Curse

Zoeya is a Plant Witch(duh) and Teep is a Beast Keeping Demon

Zoeya knows Nano is hiding Lalna, but hides this from Rythian

She is also a bit disillusioned with the Coven system and study’s other types of magic in her free time despite not being able to do them

Honeydew comes from a line of prodigious Construction Witches, but chose to join the Beast Keeping Coven because it made him happier

He works at an animal shelter(Xephos volunteers there in his free time)

Xephos is a scientist in the Emperor’s Coven working on top secret projects(coughcoughGrimwalkerscough)

Xephos is friends with Lalna despite his high standing in the Emperor’s Coven. No matter his beliefs nor the Emperor’s rules, he can make an exception for his friend

(Besides, he’s never gotten to study a human before, and specimens are hard to study after they’ve been petrified)

So I promised to write more about what makes Optimus Prime snapping so scary, and why I fucking love it. We put so much trust into this character, in g1 he was specifically made to be the character to trust. Optimus is this strong but kind character, with the power of a literal god in some cases. The less trustworthy of us see this and go "Oh that guy is a ticking timebomb that I want nowhere near." Also, I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this, but there's propaganda in the early continuities that rubs the wrong way. I need to dig up an old post about it to sufficiently explain it, but now in the 21st century, it makes the autobots somewhat uncanny.

Another part of why I love this version of Optimus is because I've damn been there. I understand what it's like to have to be the bigger person all the time, to be so damn careful and everything constantly goes wrong anyways. I understand the want to just go apeshit. Not to quote doctor who, but I believe The Doctor stated it very well: "Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many." The protagonist isn't always the good guy, and that's what's so fucking amazing about these kinds of depictions of Optimus Prime.
