As you all know by now

Metatron is sus af. And if you haven't noticed, or you live under a rock (no judgement here) I'm here to add some interesting things I have noticed as someone so obsessed with this show I can only see in the colors and outlines of Good Omens at any given moment.

Fair warning, the only theories or analysies I see are sent to me by my sister, or appear on my dash (and I don't follow many Good Omens blogs that theorize.) So if any of this has been stated or pointed out before, apologies. I'm trapped in tunnel vision mixed with an aching brain.

This one's a doozy and a conglomeration of stuff that I have noticed that I'm not sure actually hold any significance so hang in there, it's worth it.

SO. Let's dive in.

First things first, lots of different theories going around, not sure I believe a lot of them but am fully willing to indulge, and admire the effort people put it. I'm not a huge fan of the 'Metatron poisoned Aziraphale theory' but I have a feeling this post might possibly give those girlies a little 'W.' We'll see, I have various points to touch on.

Something fucked is going on with Metatron. For starters it's very uncomfortable to me, and hits very strangely that no one recognizes him (except Crowley.) Which is so strange because we previously see Michael, Uriel, Gabriel, and Saraqael all in a meeting with the Metratron about....oh maybe ten minutes prior, not to mention Muriel and Crowley were there witnessing it also??? Hello? Why does only Crowley recognize this person that this group of people have seen (Saraqael and Muriel only moments before at the same time as Crowley.)

So how come Crowley is the only one who recognized him??? Sus to me. Any thoughts as to why cause I have none....

But then things to me seem to get a little weirder. I enjoy playing with audio, cutting out background audio and emphasizing little things that might sounds strange to me. And I went through checking all of episode 6 for any weirdly placed miracle noises or waving of hands, and I came up with three things (one of them was actually from episode 5 though).

1.) There's a miracle noise after Aziraphale asks Metatron what they'll be doing in heaven and Metatron responds with 'It's something we call the Second Coming.' This one, with a lot of back tracking and examining other scenes, I've come to the conclusion is simply the elevator being summoned, though I do find it strange to hear the noise yet not see that miracle happen.

2.) In episode 5, during The Ball ™️, Maggie walks up to Nina who is sitting in a chair and offers a hand to dance. Aziraphale, my beloved, is watching so happily and excitedly from the side while holding a tray of hors d'oeuvres. Right when Nina grabs Maggie's hand there's a miracle noise. I'm not sure if it's part of the overall thing Aziraphale has cast over the bookshop, or if it's him from the side and we once again don't see it...(which feels weird) but it's there. And if it is because of the overall miracle cast over the shop then why don't we hear that sound every time something happens that is effected by said miracle. Something is weird about that one to me, but that's not Metatron related sorry. (Here's a screenshot from the exact moment if anyone is wanting to go looking for it.)

And 3.) My big one. This noise is...so unsettling to me. The first time I heard it I flinched. I still cannot figure out if it's part of the soundtrack or if it is a separate noise that segues into the soundtrack or not. But this one. So when Metatron originally enters the bookshop there is obviously a commotion and then once he gets everyone to leave, he looks at Aziraphale and tells him he wants to speak with him or have 'a chinwag' (weirdly Earth term if you ask me) and then offers Aziraphale a coffee who then takes it and sips it blah blah blah we all know that part. But then Metatron says something...weirder. He mentions that he's also consumed things before...which...makes something about him feel all the weirder. He then again asks Aziraphale to chat with him. Aziraphale hesitates and looks to Crowley who is lounging behind him who tells him to go ahead because the 'day can't get any weirder.'

Immediately following that is where I am horribly sus. Aziraphale looks at Metatron who gives him this kind smile and ushers him forward, and once Aziraphale can't see them anymore, Metatron turns a glare onto Crowley, who I'm not sure if we see him acknowledge this sudden cold change.

But that's not the sus part. In my opinion the sus part is the audio. THE MOMENT his demeanor changes to glare at Crowley. We get this little....noise that sounds like a deep kinda dark little twinkle of some sort (and holy shit I'm screaming over this noise because upon checking the official soundtrack the noise is not there) that sounds like magic is happening. And it just. I have listened to the dark way the soundtrack picks up and listened to it through over and over searching for any more signs of that out of place noise and I CAN'T FIND IT. So because I care deeply and am not going to make you people go hunting for this one, I have a screen recording of the audio clip. I kinda took the audio of an actual miracle noise first (I was using it as my reference) and then all the audio surrounding that noise and reduced it, but kept that noise kinda emphasized by not touching it at all. (My apologies now because my editing audio isn't the greatest, I'm no professional, and I did get the first notes of the soundtrack starting in there too.)

HOLY SHIT????? HELLO???? What was that dark little sound there??? I don't know if anyone else has pointed it out but if you have you're amazing and I love you.

BUT WHAT THE FUCK???? I'm sitting here trying to figure out what that strange little audio blip is right there because if I'm correct and when Metatron tells Aziraphale 'the Second Coming' followed by the miracle noise I believe to be summoning the elevator???? Then what is that sinister little???? Almost miracle sounding noise there???? My goodness.

That being said, I did check through the audio in other places, trying to listen real close (and if anyone else is good with audio and can actually find it, then please share I wanna know) and I heard no miracle noises during their kiss scene or when Crowley gets in the Bentley and the Nightingale starts playing. (Disclaimer that could just be because of my hearing loss, so if it is there and you can isolate it, I'd love to hear.) I tried, I searched endlessly to try and help you guys with your theories but I found nothing. I will say though, a bell tolls very frequently in the show when something significant happens and there's a bell toll right as our beloved angelic beings pull away from their kiss.

Now that I've pointed out the strange little audio things I personally have noticed, I want to move on to more colloquial audio and less background noises.

I wanna talk more along the lines of this post by @meatballlady (sorry for tagging you I wanted to give you credit where it's due.)

After seeing this post and doing a rewatch of the show, I have been working more at trying not to make assumptions and trying to think of the ways different things can be taken.

Well the Metatron says something that I think maybe we should focus more on the different things if could mean???

This thing is said (i believe during Aziraphale's retelling of what the Metatron said to him) but also right after another one of those moments of misinterpreting the meaning of what someone's being said. This happens after Muriel interprets Crowley's 'Us time' to include them.

The line I'm thinking of here is

"I've been idling back on a number of your...previous exploits, and I've seen that in quite a few of them you've formed a de facto partnership with the Demon Crowley. Now if you wanted to work with him again, that might be considered irregular, but it would certainly be within your jurisdiction to restore your friend...Crowley...to full angelic status."

Holy shit there's a lot to unpack in that, both for Aziraphale and us. this whole thing could be interpreted multiple ways, I think, and that's why I've included this whole quote rather than just the specific line. It's a lot said in one go with multiple things that are....worded interesting. For a start.

Exploits -

Several different meanings both in the words form as a verb and a noun, and Metatron puts an emphasis on 'previous exploits.' So how is he using the word? Noun meaning bold and daring? Probably not a software tool. What about a verb? 'derive benefit from' is an interesting way to put it. 'Use a situation or person in an unfair or selfish way.' There's plenty of options here. And to say that he is using one specific meaning of the word would be assuming that you know for sure what he's saying. And when it comes down to it, we don't. After all doesn't this season play a lot with the misinterpreting of what someone is saying?

Let's continue.

de facto partnership - is technically an informal arrangement generally for business, formed by two or more parties.

Which is cool, but that's not the emphasized word here. The word Metatron seems to hang on is 'partnership.'

Partnership -

At this point it feels like an almost sterile way to talk about their very clear relationship together. But strange that he hesitates on the word.

The thing I really wanna talk about is

"...restore your friend...Crowley...to full angelic status."

Restore -

Now everyone, Aziraphale included seemed to interpret this as 'reinstate' your friend Crowley. And again it would be very presumptuous to think that it could ONLY mean giving Crowley a position in Heaven next to Aziraphale.

One of those meanings in there says something along the lines of 'to return it to its original condition.' And we all immediately go 'well that would be an angel of course.' But we forget to take the time to realize that...as an angel, Crowley wasn't a demon. He didn't have all the memories and experiences as such. In fact, it feels hinted at throughout this season that Crowley doesn't have all his memory from his time as an angel. And who's to say that if he was restored to angelic status that wouldn't mean wiping him of his memory of his time on Earth? Who's to say that the Metatron isn't implying here that this is another way to make Aziraphale compliant while also keeping him separated from Crowley.

We all know as a team those two will 'raise Earth' for lack of a better term against Heaven and Hell to prevent Armageddon. They are their own side. And I think Metatron knows he has no chance of the Second Coming if those two are still working together.

Who's to say that Metatron wouldn't put limitations or a status quo on the allowances of Crowley returning to Heaven. He can't ensure that Crowley wouldn't cause problems, he can't ensure his trust.

Sorry if all of this has already been said and pointed out, but I personally haven't seen any of it and needed to get it off my chest before I exploded.

Hi there! Arcana brainrot has had me in a chokehold recently, so I wanted to ask: How do you think the m6 would react to the reader's family being racist and/or misogynistic? I've been getting into conflict with my parents on stuff like that a lot recently (especially the misogyny bc even tho I'm a guy, I'm trans, so comments like that are directed towards me a lot) and the idea of my blorbos putting them in their place makes me happy. I completely understand if your not comfortable with it tho

First off, I am so sorry you're going through this. The society we live in right now is utter insanity and it's extremely unfair especially when those who are meant to love and care for us most not only refuse but do the exact opposite. Sincerely, I just want to talk to them at a waffle house. I.. just wanna talk. I completely understand what you're going through and I am here for you, Anon!!! (This is one of those ones where there is bleed-through. All of the M6 have trouble understanding how your family can be so different from you and desperately want to take care of you. I just worded it a bit differently for each and may have left that out a bit for a few, but I assure you it is a given. Your comfort characters love you very much and want what's best for you!!)

They freeze and there's a brief silence before their eyes narrow as they ask for clarification. Did they.. really just say that?

Depending on the response they may have the patience to attempt to put the family in their place with respect for you but they have no qualms about just grabbing your hand and walking away.

They're confused and hurt but know that it's not your fault in the slightest. They are their own people and adults at that who unfortunately made awful choices outside of having you as a child. Even so, how far the golden apple fell from such a rotten tree is astonishing in the best possible way and they are truly grateful.

They will try not to let it get to them but will still confide in you with reassurance that it's not your fault and they don't see you any differently.

Instantly their hand is holding yours firmly, jaw clenched and eyes narrowed.

Through gritted teeth they let the family know that it is time they leave. Any protest from them is met with a glow of purple irises as Asra readies a spell, though they're not sure exactly what.

As soon as they're able, they get you as far away from your family as they can and somewhere comfortable. Immediately they check in on you and get anything you might need, even if it's just a big long hug.

They can't begin to imagine what it was like living in the household but they know it was difficult for you and they want to be there for you as much as possible.

Her shock lasts milliseconds before morphing into her signature scowl. "I beg your pardon." It is not a question or a suggestion.

If they have the gaul to continue, she allows herself to interrupt and cut them off. In no uncertain terms she all but tells them to go to hell in a hand-basket in the most eloquent way that one may even look forward to the journey.

She will attempt to continue the meeting for your sake but if they refuse to play nice or have made you uncomfortable they are asked to take their leave, even if it's not at the palace. Surely the display in public would send them off, tails between their legs.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time she's dealt with something like this and she suspects it will be far from the last. It doesn't affect her as much as it used to, the worst of it being from your family and them embarrassing you in the process. She will also confide in you but make sure you do not worry about her as you are her main concern.

The air shifts instantly with palpable tension. For a brief moment, Nadia composes herself to address you directly, placing a tender kiss on your hand. "My dear, would you mind if I spoke to your.. family.. alone?"

Once she's certain you are safe and out of the room, the doors are shut. Her glare is enough to turn them to stone where they stand as she rips into them. Her words are far from pretty but she couldn't care less.

She makes it well known your place in her life and how she would spare nothing to keep you safe and happy.. even if that be exile, among other things.

After their departure, she finds you immediately and does whatever you require whether that's a hug, a good cry in her arms, talking, or ignoring the whole thing for now. She reassures you of your safety and makes sure you smile once more.

It takes a moment for what they said to hit him. He blinks owlishly at them as he tries to wrap his mind around it and the complete contrast to you. He might ask for clarification out of.. respect.

When they continue his shock turns to a stern, calm anger. "..I see." He enlightens them with the fact that he owes them nothing nor anyone else for that matter, something you taught him. If they have a problem, that is awful for them plain and simple.

If they continue he will excuse you both curtly before escorting you away from them. He's still calm but silent. He's hurt because it's your family but what he said is true. What you and his own friends/family think of him matters more than anything else.

Even so he may need some reassurance. He might know all of that but he still struggles with his insecurities. He wants to make sure he did right by you in case you want your family in your life still.

His eyes narrow as he pulls you behind him, putting himself between you and your family. With his jaw clenched, his words flow with venom and purpose.

He's not above berating anyone no matter the time or place for hurting you but he'd rather not have a physical fight with them if he doesn't have to.

As soon as he's finished lashing out at them he turns on his heel and guides you away, holding you in his coat so they don't see you and vice versa.

As soon as you are somewhere safe, he frets over you and makes sure you are okay. He will try to distract you first to take your mind off it unless you want to talk immediately. If there is anything he can do for you, it will be done.

Muriel 💚

(Directed at him by the family)

While he's been used to harsh words, it is different for him coming from your family. He knows that you don't reflect their words and vice versa in the moment. Even so, he doesn't feel the need to respond with words.

Instead his initial shock melts into an intense glare, allowing the heavy silence.. and his intimidating presence.. to do the work for him. Needless to say, they do not continue.

In any case, they've said enough so he gently takes your hand and walks away from them. He will remain silent for a while before he feels comfortable saying anything.

It's weird that you could be so different from them but he's very glad of it. In another aspect, you make him feel safe, secure and loved. He couldn't be more grateful, even if he has trouble showing that sometimes.

He has already taken a few steps forward into their space before they finish their sentence, eyes boring down into them. With all his rage, he can only think of one thing to say. "Leave."

They likely do as he says without a second thought. Scaring people off isn't something he's too keen on now but it needed to be done for your sake.

He'll collect himself as quickly as he can so he's able to tend to you, taking you elsewhere if needed.

It might be difficult for him to articulate the care he wants to convey to you, his bear hugs say plenty.

Portia 🧡

She physically takes a step back at first before she squares her shoulders and looks them dead in the eye, letting them have it. Unfortunately, she knows a thing or two about belittling and bullying but lucky for her they aren't Nadia's guests. Even if they were she knows there's no way she'd get into any trouble for her actions.

She's not afraid to walk closer into their space and point/poke at them as she verbally lays into them. Her language is a bit less colorful than her brother's but she's not going to play nice unless she has to. They've certainly lost her respect currently and are undeserving of it.

If they try to continue she will talk over them, continuing to roast them until she's finished. She'll tell them off one last time with a huff before taking your hand in hers and leaving them.

She might vent about it more but she knows it's not your fault and makes sure you don't worry about it. They're their own people and they just so happen to suck but clearly, that has nothing on you.

Before they can finish their sentence, she's cut them off, marching forward to get in their face. She readies a punch but stops herself short.

She's not afraid to throw one or hurt them but she is afraid of hurting you further. Even though their flinch was satisfying, she takes in a breath before taking a step back. "You're not even worth it."

Returning to you, she wraps an arm around your shoulder protectively before turning to them over her shoulder to tell them how awful they are in comparison to you. It's shameful of them.

She takes you to a safe space all the while asking if you're alright and if there's anything she can do right now to help. She feels guilty about being so intense but she just can't stand anyone speaking to or about you that way, especially those who should love you.

His first instinct is to scoff at them. Clearly, they don't know him or anything about him to have that kind of blatant audacity.

He quickly lets them know as such, insulting them verbally each time they attempt to cut him off. All the while he takes slow deliberate steps toward them, putting himself between you.

The rant is ended with the fact that even if they had the decency to apologize he couldn't bring himself to accept it. They should, however, apologize to you because a slight on his honor is a slight on yours but he's sure they've already said enough.

He escorts you away, having said his peace, and takes you somewhere with a nicer atmosphere. Sure he is a bit hurt that your family could say such things but he himself knows a thing or two about rough families. He knows you don't think that way and that's all that really matters to him.

"Excuse me?" before they can respond he has closed the difference between them, hand on the hilt of his sword.

When he speaks, his voice is barely above a whisper but judging by their faces.. it wasn't the most pleasant. They back away from each other and his eyes pierce through them as he grins.

When he makes his way back to you, his gaze softens as he guides you away to safety. He holds your hand, explaining later that he was fighting every urge to not turn back around and start a fight to defend you. But.. if you did want that later, he absolutely would.

As much as he's still livid, he's able to put it aside, for now, to take care of you. Anything you need, anything he can do for you; name it and it is yours.

💀DEMON FORMS: SATAN🔥

AN: for some reason I am incapable of seeing Satan in a romantic light so I hope all the Satan kissers are at least a little satisfied. I tried my best. TWs: Body horror, mild injury, DEATHLY SKINNY, skeletal body, demons looking demonic, SIR THOSE R UR BONES, skeletons, burn mention.

First, in general, Satan had the hardest time learning to control his form. He's really good at it now, though!! He's right up there with Mammon and Lucifer in terms of self control.

● 1.5 Satan is weirdly hot to the touch. It feels like touching a hot stove. Ouch. His teeth are actually pretty tame compared to, say, Levi. Four fangs in his upper jaw, two on each side. The rest of his teeth are like. Uncomfortably straight. A dentist would cry tears of joy. One might say they are…. Like a military cemetery (ref) Overall, 1.5 Satan isn't really that wacky. His bones are a lot more prominent, though. And being around him is enough to make you irritable. You will stub your toe and suddenly want to fight God.

Satan, completely engrossed in his book, had no sweet clue he was about to trip down a flight of stairs. You, being an upstanding citizen, grab his arm to pull the demon back. Bad idea. Hissing in pain, you pull your hand back, bewildered because you didn't expect to be burned of all things! Satan apologizes for unintentionally scalding your hand, but.. it technically is your own fault. Protip: Don't do good deeds in hell.

● Level 2. In-game demon form plus add some snazzy hooves, and also His Bones Glow. Could be mistaken for a radium girl because of the eerie green light emitting from his body at all times. It's worse in the dark. This man is a GLOWSTICK. His teeth get sharper, and his nails grow into long curved claws. Also, his tail is made of vertebrae. He has a habit of dragging it slowly along the floor when he's deep in thought. Makes a very creepy clack-clack-clack sound.

The power had gone out while you were in your room. When you tiptoe out into the dark, the last thing you thought you would see was Satan, standing there looking like he is being lit up from within. Startled, you jump what feels like ten feet in the air, but in reality, it is only a few inches. Satan lets out a combination of a death rattle and a laugh.

● Level 3. His skin is extremely sunken in. You can see each and every bone and joint. His arms and legs are disproportionately long, and he has to hunch over to get through doorways. If you touch his skin in this form, you will need medical attention for the severe burns. His eyes are black, sunken-in pits. Though sometimes in the dark, you can see a faint green light. Every movement he makes causes his bones to make the aforementioned clacking sound. When Satan is especially pissed off, green smoke and fire billows out of his mouth, nose, and eye sockets.

A strange noise can be heard throughout the house as you struggle to breathe through the smoke. Satan had gotten mad because a prank against Lucifer failed miserably, causing the curse to backfire onto himself. Now, there is a tall, skeletal blonde who can not stop hiccuping. Each spasm of his demonic diaphragm sends fire spewing from every orifice. It's not until you manage to make it into the room, coughing profusely, and remind him of your cat cafe date that he begins to calm down.

● Level 4. He grows taller the more angry he is. 40 foot home depot skeleton who?! All his bones are black, blending seamlessly with his horns. The skin has a grayish tint and is stretched so thin in some places that it's translucent. His bones glow brighter based on how angry he is. Basically, he's a giant glowing skeleton. His body temperature is so high that if he touches anything flammable…. Grab some marshmallows. Satan is real reason the library of Alexandria burnt down. Someone bumped into him and... the rest is history. I don't have much else to say about it. Big grumpy skeleton.

The second the fire alarms go off, everyone panics. The fire alarms at RAD are enchanted, so only real emergencies can set it off. You barely have time to push your way through the door when a giant skeletal hand breaks through the window. Wait a damn minute... you know that eerie green glow... you somehow manage to fight your way through the crowd of screaming demons and succubi. Carefully, you step over the broken glass, peeking your head out the window. "Satan?" You call out softly. "Wanna talk about it?" A giant obsidian skeleton that towers over the school looks down at you, the flames dancing in the empty eye sockets dim ever so slightly. You count that as a win. The air is suffocating its so hot, and anyone in their right mind would be running for their lives. Good thing you aren't in your right mind. You sit on a desk as the Avatar of Wrath shrinks about a foot in size. He still has to crouch to be eye level with the window. But you can tell he appreciates the offer from the way Satan is paying extra attention to make sure his breathing doesn't roast you alive. How sweet.

coz i've never known like when ppl talk about mpreg do you imagine one of the people as trans or just Somehow being a cis man w a uterus of a Secret third thing like????!!

hi anon!!!!! ty for asking me this i LOVE to yell about mpreg. the thing about this is that literally every person you ask would have a different answer. and i personally am fascinated by how many different ways there are of conceptualizing and writing about mpreg so i'm willing to read most things?

on my own blog when i'm riffing about phan mpreg i would say i'm picturing neither of the options you mentioned in your first paragraph?

in general¹ i am at best disinterested, at worst squicked by mpreg or omegaverse (or even transmasc fics) where the character who can get pregnant's body is referred to with exclusively "female" terms/has a body like a cis woman's/that is pointedly emasculated or feminized.

nothing inherently wrong with that being someone's cup of tea but it just makes me personally uncomfortable bc of how i and the lovers i've had have experienced transness! & i know that's maybe not 1:1 what you were asking with your phrasing but it's something i see pretty commonly so i figured it was worth mentioning.

i also don't necessarily picture them as cis men who magically got pregnant either? that's way closer, but it's less interesting to me on a personal gender and potential worldbuilding level. a lot of the time fics that do this are also going for mpreg being more medically traumatic/dangerous rather than a normal occurence and i'm overall pretty ehhhh on the execution of that. it can end up pretty intersexist & transphobic at times.

oooh no men ever get pregnant but the protagonist of this fic is an exception and it could kill him and there's relationship problems now about this being a surprise AND whether to keep the baby. have we mentioned yet that no men ever get pregnant and that there's something seriously weird about someone having atypical sex characteristics²?

you get the picture.

overall my posting is essentially playing in an unspecified/vague (and impossible) realm where both dan and phil are their usual selves—so overall still have the primary and secondary sex characteristics cis men do—but they ALSO have uteruses etc & maybe an associated extra hole. and the base assumption is that that mix of traits isn't atypical for the universe i'm playing in when i explore concepts?

overall the way think about phan mpreg is much closer to omegaverse biology than our own, but without the more wolfy aspects of omegaverse? it's not realistic or possible biologically. clearly defining that aspect would make it fall apart. and that's fine!

figuring out the nitty gritty of how birth & biology works isn't the fun part for me? the fun part is "how would dan and phil react to an unplanned pregnancy in a world where they are the same besides that being possible for them". i do usually imagine it being possible for both of them to become pregnant and cause a pregnancy? but the details on how it's possible are adaptable moment to moment depending on what suits my fancy.

for full transparency, this is all just in regards to phan mpreg. i think that people could teach college courses on destiel mpreg. there's SO many different interesting ways i've seen that go that are completely incompatable with the way i enjoy being silly about dan and phil. and that's just one example?

my ideal mpreg universes when crafting aus for fave existing characters are very much so in line with "trans man but no need for top surgery and he gets to have a built in functioning dick & balls, no surgery required there either"³. but that inherently takes things more seriously than i take phan mpreg posting.

or i just go with a character being a trans man? one of my OCs is a trans man as well, and in happier AUs⁴ of my original story he gets to have a family with his lover.

¹i have read exactly one omegaverse mpreg that falls in this category that has an execution i actually enjoy, and i think it's because it's self aware and intentional about what it's doing.

Which character do you think had the most potential in the Harry Potter series and do you plan on implementing any of your ideas into them?

If DSMSG Draco was locked in a room with Umbridge, Lockhart, and Voldemort and had a gun with two bullets, who would he choose to shoot?(totally not stolen from The Office)

I think you may or may have not mentioned this earlier and feel free to ignore this question if it’s a spoiler, but when does Harry begin having feelings for Draco/act on them?

In terms of potential, I'm not quite sure. My first thought was Draco (Duh) mostly because I wish so badly that they kept the scene in the final movie where he threw his wand to Harry. That alone would probably do so much for his character, and I am very likely going to do something with it in the fic. Plus the whole really weird hug with Voldy thing, kinda seems like Voldy is trying to have a relationship with him that parallels Harry and Dumbledore's. Anyway, Draco's SO uncomfortable all the time in 7th, it makes me very excited to get to it :) I also think Narcissa is pretty interesting since she kinda parallels Lily, and the fact she lied to the Dark Lord TO HIS FACE and protected Harry...I know I make Narcissa out to be just a very overbearing mother (and bad cook) but I hope to make Draco see the other sides to her later on, when he gets his head out of his ass. For now, she's sort of just comic relief, but there are some things set up in the very first years that will come back in the later years.

(also i REALLY need to add neville in some more--thematically he's super important, but he just doesn't get that much screen time yet. I'll have to think more about how to integrate him, but definitely he will appear more in 3rd w/ other characters. Other characters I plan to include are Cedric, Luna, maybe Cho? Marietta, probably, for the whole traitor thing in the 5th book, and ofc Pansy and Zabini, though those two are the flattest in the books so I'm gonna have to make up a lot of stuff lol. gotta add in sirius obvs [he's actually my favorite, which was why he was not-malfoy's fave in the old version], and remus [also we gotta discuss the werewolf in the room, with the whole snape prank thing...])

Draco would probably blackmail Lockhart into taking the gun and shooting Umbridge twice. He isn't stupid enough to try to kill Voldemort with a gun (are the horcruxes around in this hypothetical?also Voldy lived in like. WWII? Although he's ignorant of love magic stuff, he is probably deeply aware of the dangers of Muggle weapons, which maybe relates to his desire to conquer them) but Draco would love Umbridge dead, and he'd want more blackmail on Lockhart lol. The man's main fear is losing his reputation so that's probably a better punishment than death. If it's sixth year Draco he might just shoot himself though

I have mentioned that Draco doesn't want to date as a minor or date minors even if physically the same age due to the weird age gap/time question thing (a really big issue in isekai/transmigration imo, and the bit of this fic that makes me want to just make it platonic--seriously. I read one where this grown man DATED A SEVEN YEAR OLD B/C HE WAS IN A CHILD'S BODY??) but Harry will obviously not be thinking about that since for all he knows, they're both normal kids. You can probably safely assume he starts thinking of romance at the same time as in the books, though obviously his friendship w/ Draco and the whole "it's the nineties and I think I'm gay?!" thing would make him not as proactive about it for a while

im an affection junkie - physical touch is my thing ! and hes so big! so im always pouncing on him for bear hugs and he acts so unimpressed and cocky abt it like "oh you missed me? im not goin anywhere relax" but he acc melts bcus when was the last time someone gave him affection?? he prob thinks im a figment of his imagination lolol

being with toji is not always as seamless or easy as you make it look. He's gruff and protective and difficult and incredibly stubborn. like that time you two fought because he was ignoring what you were saying and he flat-out refused to acknowledge your demand when you called him out on it. to be fair, he'd come home after an eight-hour shift and you'd started talking his head off, but it wouldn't kill him to listen. he wasn't paying attention when you were talking about that new hello kitty cafe with the fun milkshakes and the mini donuts that you wanted to try. hell, he ended up falling asleep on your shoulder after brushing off your argument and as much as you wanted to remain angry at him, you'd softened immediately upon seeing his tired face, all eyebags and troubled frown. and he did make it up to you later by taking you to said cafe and proving that he had been listening, though when you brought it up to him, he pretended not to know what you were talking about. but deep down he cares for you and he's trying — you know he's trying and you don't want to make him feel bad for things he can't control. a lot of the concerns you should bring up to him, you don't — you want this relationship to be easy and safe. you want him to feel comfortable with you the same way that you feel comfortable with him. even if sometimes he comes home with a busted lip and bloody knuckles and sends your heart skidding against your ribcage. but what matters is that he comes to you first and he comes home to you. so you know that no matter what, no matter how he's feeling, if he thinks he can talk to you or not, he'll always come home to you. and even if you doubt his commitment sometimes, he knows that you're home to him and he'll do anything to keep it that way.

Hello! Not a request but a question. I hope I won’t make you uncomfortable, sorry— but you could please explain to me what systems are? Or sending some links explaining? I have saw it sometimes but never could understand it well… I just want to get informed since some of my moots are and I want to support and learn more about them.

No worries, this doesn't make me uncomfortable at all, and I'm glad you asked!

First things first, every system or person with DID is different with different experiences. I'll be describing some of my own here, but just know it could always be different for others. The best way to support someone is to ask them questions, see what their experiences are like, and try and educate yourself outside of that as well!

Anyone feel free to correct me on anything I got wrong! DID is still seen in a horrible light where I live, which is hard for me, but I've been trying my best to learn

DID/dissociative identity disorder is usually caused by traumatic events in childhood, where the child proceeds to try and distance themselves from this trauma by dissociating, or pushing the events and memories onto another self, thus creating a fragmented sense of identity. This usually causes amnesia as well, due to repressing memories

A system is a body that has dissociative identity disorder/other specified dissociative disorder. There's usually a "host", the core of the body, and "alters", other personalities who diverge from the host

"Fronting" is a term usually used to describe which alter is in control of the body's actions at the time, or most present in the moment. Not all people with DID have such distinct compartilzations, though. Sometimes multiple alters might be fronting, sometimes you might not know at all. Remember that DID is a dissociate disorder!

Alters have a wide range depending on person to person- sometimes they have different interests, names, genders, ages and the like, and sometimes they're a lot more foggy and unspecific than that. People can have even up to 100 alters, or just the one. For me, it's only me and my alter Blaze! He's only chosen a name for himself pretty recently, though.

Remember to ask, if they're comfortable with it, more about alters and their differences. And, again if they're comfortable with it, who's fronting right now so you can differentiate between them. It's a nice way to show you respect their identities and that you care!

While I am not medically diagnosed with DID, I've had 3 therapists say I have a dissociative disorder and it's highly likely to be DID/OSDD, but since a medical diagnosis like that would literally wreck my life in this backwards ass country lol I don't want it on any of my records [same thing with autism! I was asked to get a formal diagnosis but my mother literally refused]

I formed my alter Blaze due to repeated sexual abuse at school from a teacher, and grooming from an older woman. Blaze was there to help me manage my emotions, and take over when I was too overwhelmed to even speak let alone move or function properly. I know I speak about it in a fairly casual and friendly manner on here, but DID has heavily affected my life. There's things neither me or Blaze can remember, and it scares us. There's days where I feel so far away from my body and I shut down completely because I don't feel like I really exist in the physical world. There's days where I or Blaze look in the mirror and we can't see ourselves, and it's very distressing.

I've been getting much more comfortable talking about it online! The community is very loving and open, and it's helped me and Blaze feel more comfortable. Nobody irl knows this part of me, despite the fact our mom notices the changes in behaviour sometimes, so it's nice having somewhere to talk about it

Me and Blaze been trying to manage our symptoms and relationship better! Things are much much better than they were in the past, especially now that we're far away from our past sexual harassors.

Ok so same person here. I totally get being uncomfortable about people knowing certain things about you and deleting it hence me staying on anon myself too lol. I was curious why it was gone so suddenly and wanted to know why you deleted/additional thoughts or whatever else bc it is a very interesting loaded thing. I didn’t really need to copy the whole post’s text bc like I said I don’t think what you were saying matches all of that obviously but just a couple certain sentiments. It was never that your assertion about the history of it was wrong, I think it was more the sort of enlightened slightly superior attitude about it all in critiquing the original “cringe uwu bdsm” post and afterwards. Not even that it’s anything I would necessarily say myself, but I think the level of harm/cringiness/negativity attached to it was kinda disproportionate and I think that’s mostly what reminded me of the other post I saw later on. To say you don’t pass judgement seems a bit removed from the rest of your argument. It seems like maybe there’s a slight projection going on about not getting something that other queer folks do get and feeling left out bc of that. Which is fair bc that is frustrating and difficult and it’s okay to not enjoy things and voice that. I think for me the biggest thing is that since puritanical values are so incredibly rampant if someone (especially someone of a historically oppressed group hence mentioning it before) feels love, respect, and tenderness in kink it’s pretty much always okay to leave that alone! Not to say it’s an inherently revolutionary act, but I just don’t think the amount of “cringe” (therefore shame/embarrassment) assigned to it was necessary. Is acknowledging the history and psychoanalysis of it all more important than whatever love suffering people feel? Because joy (in this matter and others) is hard to find and maintain coupled with such intensive psychoanalysis, history, etc. I feel like in leftist spheres we are often so obsessed with the type of language, arguments, and perspectives you use. And I worry because of it we don’t leave enough room for love and it’s active practice for ourselves and others. You sound very smart and I appreciate your perspective and I follow you for a reason because I am always interested in your commentary in posts so thanks for responding to my first hastily sent half baked msg lol mostly just wanted to hear/know more about ur opinion and why it disappeared

that post sucked, its so corny, i dont think im being disproportionally negative to make one post about something being annoying on my blog. but youre right there is something about “not getting something other queer folks get” because my experiences with my sexuality are completely different than what you described about respect and tenderness and so on. i am also from a “historically oppressed” group btw and i dont really get the significance of mentioning this repeatedly. if bdsm is something that serves that purpose for someone, thats cool, for many other people sadomasochism is more pathological and detrimental to their lives, and i dont think that manifestation is something totally separate from healthier practices. human sexuality is dark and complex when i talk about it i dont want to have to frame it in such positive terms that flatten out all its contradictions and complexity. again this is something relevant to my life so theres a reason why im in interested in a psychoanalytic approach to it. i could easily say theres something you dont get about an entire dimension to this. and why do people assume by talking about history youre making someone pass a moral judgement, saying the history is more important than the thing itself. im a marxist and i like history including the history of sexuality. i want to talk about it because i find it interesting and related to a lot of things ive studied and relevant to understanding human relations. thank you for messaging me back, i appreciate it & if you wanna talk more dm me.

🕯 Being vulnerable and it's good; I don't feel I have anything to protect anymore. The older you get the less you are concerned with protecting yourself from what people may think, and it's freeing.

I mentioned 2 weeks ago I had a date with someone and there was no chemistry. He wanted to see me again and we did a hike yesterday. He talked 75% of the time. He is very nice and loves the Lord. I am just not interested, at all. I kept on looking at him when we took a break to sit down and watch the remnants of the sun setting and I just couldn't feel anything as I watched him speak.

I found myself thinking of my time with M in March 2021 when I was with this man yesterday. When W and I dated late last year I didn't think of M. I really did feel so strongly towards W, we really did have something special and sweet and he was in many ways a knight in shining armor kind of man. I didn't feel anything towards M for those few months (although it was around Christmas hoping he was okay, but not out of romantic feeling), my heart wasn't quite W's (it wasn't anyone's I don't think), but it's propensity was to W. I treasured him, I was just never sure of him. I knew I wasn't sure, and sure enough, it didn't stand the test of time or of what should have been a simply worked-out situation where we saw things differently. It didn't stand, and it's okay. After W my heart went back to M though.

The truth is, I don't like M. I don't respect him, I don't think he's a very good man. In some ways he is great, but in a lot of ways he has not shown himself to be worthy of respect and to be thought of as a Christian man seeking Christ and loving/serving others. He serves himself primarily and for this I do not respect him. He serves at times, but just to get what he wants (to be thought well of, to be charming).

The only man I trust is Jesus. I see other men in the world, but no one has my heart. I don't know if my heart is scalable these days - meaning walls that can be scaled, can be climbed up and the open window climbed into. As an older woman than most of my followers I imagine: don't lower yourself to be relatable/desired by men. Being desired by them is short-lived, and they won't actually respect you long term. Better to be by oneself than needing to lower yourself to get onto a level you know you are uncomfortable at. As women we often think we'll lower things down and bring the man up to where we are; no, we lower ourselves and the men do not rise. He has to stand up on his own, not because of a woman. If he is not rising to meet you where you are at, he's not who the Lord has for you. Men are to lead their wives and how can they do that if a woman doesn't even respect him now, but feel she has to in some ways "lead" him? I have respected some of the men I've been with in the sense of their standings in the world, their careers, their sharp minds, their humor, their relationships with others, and so on. Yet I have not respected their fortitude (or lack thereof), their honor (or lack thereof), and not setting aside their appetites and the old-man nature for newness in Christ and denying themselves in order to honor God and honor the other (the woman).

These days I am happiest when I am walking/hiking in nature. I do so about 4-5 times a week now at least, Autumn outdoors and just walking with my thoughts, the Lord, perhaps a theological podcast.

I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice—my appeal for mercy. Psalm 116:1

at the start of the journey when they didn't know each other super well but were friends, it was much harder to comfort each other. wars' go-to when comforting others is touch—that's just how he does things and it's what he's most confident and versed in—but legend, back then, had a weird relationship w that w the whole touch-starved, touch-adverse thing. at the beginning, it kinda seemed like they were just very different people and weren't super compatible

they're very different in terms of how they like to receive/give affection and reassurance. but i think the important thing w them is that Both of them were willing to compromise and adapt to each other. without crossing boundaries, they have a system in place where they Communicate and Ask Permission for shit.

^ wars never touches ledge without asking either verbally or w a silent raised arm and a questioning look that says hug? and he never makes a face or gets upset when ledge says no. conversely, ledge never pushes and prods too hard when wars shuts down on him and won't talk about anything, instead sitting w him and simply keeping him company

i think one of the biggest problems that ledge faces w this stuff is that he's so emotionally constipated that he genuinely has no idea where to even begin, both with speaking about his own trauma, and reassuring wars w his

he never knows what to say, how to say it, what movements to make, whether physical touch is even appropriate here,, he doesn't know. he often finds himself completely out of his depth. he usually gets by w the things he does know how to do, but sometimes he ends up in hard situations where he has no idea what path to take or how to make somebody feel better

during nights where the vibes r quiet and everybody is asleep but him and wars, they talk and laugh and giggle, and sometimes it strays into deeper territory where they share stories from their adventures to get them off their chests. wars usually doesn't like talking about the more gruesome memories too much, but it sometimes even gets too heavy for him and he needs to let it out when he feels comfortable enough. and ledge?

ledge wants to. he never used to want to, but now he feels safe enough and loved enough to share these vulnerable things w wars and yet when he opens his mouth everything's just,,, stuck. like there's a physical barrier he cannot get past, to let these words out. he barely knows how to form such complicated emotions into words in his mind, much less mold it all into a coherent sentence

and wars is good at People, like i've mentioned. somewhere along the line, he realizes that ledge isn't uncomfortable w sharing (not,, fully anyway). no, it's that ledge doesn't know how. either he was simply never taught adequately (given his young age when his uncle died, it's possible), had trouble grasping it from the start, or it's trauma making him fear vulnerability to the point of being nonverbal, wars doesn't know; what he Does know is that he can see legend wants to get past it

so during one of those sleepover-vibe nights where they spill their guts to each other, wars decides to lead the conversation instead of going quiet and letting legend have the floor, like he'd been doing before. he asks questions instead, guides legend through it with subtle little nudges, and watches in delight as legend responds much better to that than just,,, silence and the expectations of him to make his emotions make sense to others

questions give him a template. they give him a sentence structure to mimic, an underlying logic to follow, and even when legend feels too overwhelmed to answer those, wars switches to simple yes-or-no ones (legend loves him. he loves him with all of his heart). eventually he's able to roll around the usual questions warriors asks in his head and sorta reverse engineer them to come up w ways to say things for himself; picks out the patterns in them, says them to himself next time they share things and he answers them aloud, like a script he's memorized

it's probably not how most people usually do it, and sometimes ledge feels a bit silly abt it, but it does a rly good job of teaching him how to say things in ways other people might understand—it allows him to hear these things in a way he can understand. it finally gives him an outlet to let it all out, and even though sometimes it's exhausting, he always feels lighter afterward

i do wanna talk abt the dynamic of legend having a lot of trauma abt knights and his best friend also being a knight. when they first met, legend didn't trust him one fucking bit. legend was afraid of him. he always avoided him wherever he could, let the others talk instead of risking getting stuck in a conversation w the guy—it was bad.

and sure, that was unfair to wars bc he'd rly done absolutely nothing wrong to ledge. but all legend could ever see when he looked at him was the shiny armor and the sharp blade on his back; the bow over his shoulders; the perfect stance; and the death-like, mindless stare of every other brainwashed soldier he'd ever met. legend would hear his armor clink and he'd flinch. wars would unsheath his sword to sharpen it and legend's hand would dart to his own, ready to fight

but eventually they started talking. legend stopped trying to outright avoid him and instead sorta,,, let himself exist in the same space vaguely uneasily. that turned into goofing off together, that turned into smiles and laughter and Uh Oh he realizes this guy is pretty fuckin sick. Uh Oh He's Becoming My Acquaintance,,, Uh Oh He's Becoming My Friend,, Uh Oh He's Becoming My Bes—

and i think it's just . rly rly nice that ledge eventually got over that hurdle. he's not scared of wars, not even a little anymore. and the strength behind each and every thing wars does for him ?? hugs him and kisses his knuckles and rings, says he loves him like several times a day, sleeps wrapped around him in a protective little hold, kisses the scars that were caused by other knights. that's just ,, ougoh /pos

in a way it sorta,,, softens the blows from his past i suppose. it doesn't completely reverse his trauma from other knights, of Course not, but it most certainly does help in a way i can't rly explain, and in a way that legend most definitely never will be able to either

beyond the war and the trauma that comes w that, wars also struggles w some self-doubt. i mentioned it before, but he's not super confident like common depictions of him, and due to :sparkle: circumstances :sparkle: of things in his past, he often feels like he's only kept around because he's useful, not because he's loved. couldn't be further from the truth, but sometimes he gets in these awful mindsets where he feels he has to justify the space he takes up

legend helps him a lot in that regard simply w time (the,, concept, not the man). it takes time for wars to believe it when ledge says he loves him—near the beginning when ledge didn't say it back bc it felt like Too Much to him at the time, that unknowingly set wars' belief in stone that maybe ledge doesn't return the sentiment. they figure it out in the end, and they Know they love each other very much now, but wars' fragile self-worth mixed w that,, didn't go over so well

but the little things legend does for him constantly pile up into this big heap of I Love You, Idiot, and eventually it even gets through wars' thick, self-doubt filled skull. little things like going out of his way to sit next to him and collapse in his lap, bringing him drinks when he's noticed wars hasn't had a break in a while, coming up to him all excited and feeling comfortable enough to infodump abt shit to him. eventually, the point reaches through

a bigger thing is that sometimes wars will end up,, shutting down. if he's too stressed or too overwhelmed, and then one little extra thing sets him off, he'll kinda dissociate i guess?? a bit similar to wild's memories deal. he'll be,, Somewhere Else in his head—often times reliving memories/emotions he doesn't want to—and he'll go on auto-pilot and just kinda go through the motions until he gets to a point where he can take a break

sometimes it happens after a battle, sometimes it happens seemingly randomly even if everything's calm. there's been times when wars isn't even totally sure what set it off, and there's been times where wars slowly blinks out of the trance and ends up not even remembering most of it. he'll hear a fire crackle in just the right way and suddenly be back on the field w flames burning his troops; he'll see a certain type of flower and remember being dragged across a clearing of them by enemy forces

it's hard to see him like that, staring off into space w a haunted look in his gaze, so it always worries legend to death. he'll usually sit w him and try to talk to him, tell him whatever he's seeing is not happening again and that he's safe. he doesn't touch him unless wars is aware enough to approve of it, but when he falls out of the trance and starts coming back to himself, legend will usually hug him and hold him, do his best to keep him calm. they usually sit there for a good while afterward, just listening to each other breathe

legend is terrified of lightning storms and wars always stays up late into the night w him just to keep him company, holds him until he falls asleep. when they're in wars' era, he's fully aware that ledge is afraid of the other knights that Cover castle town, so he holds legend's hand the entire way to let him know he's Safe

wars has a huge phobia of any fire that's not contained in a pit and rly any enemy that is able to shoot fire at Him; if legend notices he's dealing w one on the field they'll quickly trade places and let wars handle whatever ledge was fighting. wars is also terribly claustrophobic—it is hard to get wars inside a cave of any kind—and legend typically walks him through the panic he feels after a trigger, gentle as all hell. when wars gets injured, legend Knows he sometimes jumps to conclusions that the chain might leave him, so an i've got you, i'm not leaving you comes out to calm him

legend has chronic pain from a,,, multitude of things, but some of the worst stuff is usually joint pain. heat often helps w it; if it's bad enough, wars will set the fire rod by him so he can warm his hands up, but if that's not needed, wars will simply hold his hands and massage the knots out and he's so so incredibly gentle abt it

legend also loves physical pressure on him, and a Lot of the time the chain can find wars just,, lying on top of him. ledge always looks so content when he does that

they both have these, but wars gets some pretty bad phantom pains from the burns along his face and shoulder—half of his right ear is straight up burnt off, and it causes some Problems sometimes

occasionally it'll feel like he has an infection there, in lots of pain and really nauseated, and the ringing that's usually there gets much worse. he's usually MIA on those days, too dizzy to do much of anything but lie still, and legend will always keep him company, playing w his hair and talking abt random stuff to keep wars occupied

nightmares....................dear god VGEAIYG ledge has a lot of nightmares abt koholint. usually they're pretty tame, thankfully—just little snippets that jerk him awake and, while he usually stays up the rest of the night, they don't make him panic too much

but sometimes they are Bad and he wakes up sobbing, gets back into that horrible box of it was my fault, is This real, is the chain even real, and wars holds him so gently and repeatedly tells him it's all real and does his best to ground him w every single technique wars knows. sometimes he brings him back to the present pretty quickly, sometimes it takes all night, but either way, wars is there the entire time, never leaving him once

wars has a lot of nightmares from the war, but he also tends to have a lot about losing legend and the others, and those affect him terribly. he wakes up screaming sometimes, hyperventilating and whipping around to count heads around camp to make sure they're all there and alright

legend is always there to hold him—tells him that it wasn't real, that they're all safe and okay, hugs him so so tight, and when wars' sobbing has dwindled to little hiccups, they'll lie back down in the blankets and wars will cling to him like both of their lives depend on it. legend will let him rest his head over his chest, ear right up against his heart so that he can hear it beating, alive and well. sometimes it even calms him enough for him to drift back to sleep

and lastly, sometimes u just,, feel off and don't know why. sometimes they know Something is wrong, but everything seems to be in its place in their heads and there's only smth slightly to the left that's teetering everything off the edge. sometimes one of them has an off day where they act differently, they're stuck in their head, they're sensitive, they're unusually quiet,,

and the other is always there to ask if they want company, or if they wanna be alone. no matter what they chose, the other will respect it. if they wanna be alone, if they wanna talk, if they wanna sit w the other in silence, they're always willing. they're always so understanding w each other and always so Willing to help each other, even when the solution isn't obvious and even when it seems rly hard to get there

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 1x02 SPOILERS

WHAT A BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT EPISODE

I think that the show is doing a phenomenal job at expanding upon the characters without changing what I felt was their essence AND on bringing the politics on screen.

Some highlights:

-The Viserys x Alicent x Rhaenyra triangle: It’s explored in its complexity. Each relationship has several layers. Viserys and Alicent are essentially courting, but they’re also king and subject AND a father with his daughter’s best friend. Alicent and Rhaenyra are friends, but there’s the complexity of Alicent being pushed to approach Rhanyra’s father/the king.

In fact, I adore Alicent and seeing her trying to obey her father and not fail him despite her obviously uncomfortable feelings In fact, knowing what happens later, seeing her handling the situation with such grace and seeing her empathy and good councel to both Rhanerys and Viserys and her attempt to restore between them the genuine communication she doesn’t have with her own father is heartbreaking. And of course, right when Rhaenyra and Viserys have finally managed to start talking, the marriage between Alicent and Viserys is announced and Rhaenyra’s initial reaction is to feel betrayed. We KNOW that initially she was supportive when they wed, so I can’t wait to see how they’ll approach the transition from this initial reaction and what kind of understanding Rhaenyra has of Alicent’s position.

As for Viserys and Rhaenyra, these people love each other deeply. Viserys genuinely believes in her abilities and in terms of her succession, it’s the stability that he fears for. This rightfully pushes Rhaenyra to feel that she has to step up and prove herself but, because of the complexity of court politics, her assertiveness sometimes looks as if she is speaking over him and disregarding him, which he can’t have as the king. In turn, he reacts and his response ends up in Rhaenyra’s gaslighting and in making her look infatilized. Neither is trying to hurt they other, but the complexity of politics slips into their familial relationship.

-Otto: The thing I love about Otto is that he is power-hungry, but he is also a good hand until the point that the circumstances that may elevate his house rise. Some fans reduced him to a backstabber already from the first episode, but he is actually a good politician and he regards the well-being of the realm. For example, I firmly believe that (other than the fact that Daemon hates Otto too and envies the trust Viserys has in him, so of course Otto would fear Daemon gaining too much power) he genuinely believes that the rogue prince would destabilize the throne and would be a plague to the realm. Rhys Ifans is absolutely brilliant in the role. He is creating a figure with gravitas. Someone who is not smirking or who pretends that he bows. He correctly portrays Otto as a person who knows his worth and has a sense of superiority that comes through, but he is mostly collected and has very watchful eyes. I LOVED how you could see Otto’s consideration of Rhaenyra evolving throughout the episode as she tried to take initiative. As a father, I am very interested to see more of how he sees Alicent. He is clearly abusive and uncommunicative, but the thing is that fathers sending their daughters to approach influencial men or even marrying actual children to old men was very common practice during the time Martin’s politics are inspired from. From his point of view he could be doing this for his own sake, but he could also be someone who believes that this is his way to give his daughter power and influence in a way her sex would not easily allow.

For a second time in this episode he chastises over bleeding the area close to her fingernails by asking why he is doing this to herself when she is so commly. Alicent’s specific mention of Otto’s hardship to communicate with her makes me wonder whether he was simply asking because of her use her perfect appearence has, or if this was his TERRIBLE way of asking why she is hurting herself when other girls would envy her. I want to see more, not to mention that I ADORE this subtle way of showing Alicent’s sense of lack of control and her pent up anger, which she shallows and only turns on herself in a subtle way.

-Rhaenyra: Milly is lovely in the role. She brings the right emotion to every single scene. This episode demonstrated that Rhaenyra has a good head on her shoulders. She is smart and perceptive, watchful, willing to learn more, but also constantly afraid that she is not enough. I loved her desperation in asserting herself. I loved her discussion with Rhaenys and that Rhaenyra is driven by KNOWING the truth of Rhaenys’ words, but at the same time she is in denial because getting declared as the heir was a first step towards her desire and she does not want to taint this small victory by acknowledging how precarious her position will always be.

-Daemon: Daemon’s tragedy is that he’s all heart. Daemon loves deeply, he is committed, he is passionate... but he also craves freedom and recognition. His desire for freedom makes him react impulsively and violently to anything that is enforced upon him. His need to be recognized and accepted by his brother is absolutely tragic, because, while he has Viserys’ love, to have his respect he’d need to live up to expectations that are confining to him, and which by extent he is bound to react against. This creates an interesting difference between him and Otto. Otto is far better for the realm and he only furthers his goals when the opportunities open, but once he has set the course to serve himself he WILL do what it takes. On the other hand, Daemon WILL almost go to war, he WILL turn against his own family on impulse, he WILL make messes, he even IS against Rhaenyra’s claim to an extent and WOULD try to further his own interests over hers, but ultimately, when he fully realizes the repercussions, he does not want to hurt the people he loves and he LOVES his brother and niece. His scene with Rhaenyra was stunning and I have to make an honorable mention of Mysaria’s scene, when she tells him she wanted to be free of fear.

-Corlys: I always loved his character. Frankly, I DO think that Corlys was willing to backstab in the sense of subverting clams and disregarding those that ultimately did not help him further his goals, but I love how he earned his influence and I understand him wanting to defend it. For all the backlash the actor got before the show, he is actually spot on.

-Laena: This is a very small mention, but I couldn’t not talk about my brave little girl. She was absolutely charming, Moreover, her being sent to Viserys by Corlys is an interesting parallel of Alicent having been sent by Otto and it adds to the general picture of women’s position in this world
