Morning
an Easter poem
He steps into the garden’s early gray,
feels dew beneath his feet - wind stirs his hair,
and deep he breathes in scents of earth and herb
and casts off reek of myrrh and bloodied cloth.
How good it is to be alive! The world
is sleeping, unaware it is reborn.
His friends are sleeping too, worn out with grief
and hope, believing both are useless now.
The cross. He glances down at hands and feet,
flexes his wrists, peers down at ragged holes,
laughs softly to himself - a victory shout.
Night bleeds away above the olive trees.
So soon his friends will come and see the tomb;
so soon the world will know that all is well!
But now he is content - a nightingale
sings overhead the coming of the dawn,
and there are flowers to be tended here.
It must begin again with gardening.
He pulls a thorny root, loosens the soil
with long brown fingers, and he starts to dig.

Respectfully, anyone who believes that Roxas shouldn't have come back in kh3 is wrong and also doesn't know how to make a satisfying end to a characters narrative.
I could maybe forgive thinking Naminé or Xion shouldn't have returned, as they at least got to make the informed decision to return to their counterparts themselves. It would still be wrong but I can at least forgive it.
But Roxas? His entire story is about being allowed to be yourself regardless of what anyone else around you says you should be. It doesn't/shouldn't matter if he comes from Sora, because he is someone else entirely. It's his life, not Sora or anyone elses. Having a story like that end with him being violently forced to return to Sora when he doesn't even know anything about what's going on is flat out bad writing.
Did he accept that he had to die for Sora? Well, sure, but only after getting to beat him within an inch of his life. Only reason he accepts it is because he literally has no other choice but to. He can't keep clinging to the anger and misery at his circumstances forever.
And, you know, it probably helps that the person this was all for also fucking hates it. In no way is Sora happy about what happened to Roxas. Of course he'd bring him back, it's Sora. The situation is so unfair and tragic that having it end with him just staying in Sora forever would literally go against the essence of the entire series.
Kingdom Hearts is, at it's core, a series about bonds. Roxas was established basically immediately as having very important bonds! His best friend literally died for him! He has friends that don't even know it because it was another version of them, but they still feel that bond to him anyway! You really think they should've just thrown away a character whose bonds transcended the boundaries between data and reality just like that? Get real.

The Fourteen Hidden or "Bug" Audios In Order, With Reasoning
(i think! I'm fairly confident in this! I'm willing to Debate!)
12-14 / Howdy & Barnaby
[we know that Barnaby and Wally go to Howdy's every morning]
8-14 / Eddie & Frank
[the post office is right across from Howdy's]
6-14 / Julie & Frank
[Wally isn't scared of bugs, so he could be recruited to help with Frank's gardening problem]
1-14 / Howdy & Poppy
[Howdy mentions that he has a shipment waiting for his signature]
3-14 / Howdy & Sally
[it's possible that Wally went to Howdy's to get something for the beetles]
13-14 / Howdy & Eddie
[it looks like Wally just bought a box of apples, or something similar. Howdy signs for the shipment]
4-14 / Barnaby & Frank
[behind the pins, it looks like there's an apple or two on the ground. the shape and color is wrong for it to be tomatoes. an offering for the beetles?]
9-14 / Frank & Poppy
[the table is clear of yarn, and Frank references the damage done to his garden]
2-14 / Sally & Poppy
[there are cookies - Poppy mentioned to Frank that she might have a non-seed recipe for his butterflies]
10-14 / Julie & Sally
[Wally could have gone with Sally to help with the script reading]
5-14 / Barnaby & Eddie
[Eddie mentions that it's late in the day, and he already delivered the bowling balls]
7-14 / Eddie & Julie
[Barnaby calls, asking after Wally]
11-14 / Julie & Barnaby
[the lighting through the trees looks like afternoon/evening]
14-14 / Barnaby & Home
[the end deterioration is very final, and Barnaby references things that happened throughout his other audios]

Some people build incredibly extravagant altars and shrines for the various holy days and rites.
I've fallen into the much less comfortable trap of hand-painting the entire floor of my detached ritual space with a complicated circle diagram that I wash completely away the next morning so no one sees it.
I don't have knees anymore, I have pain collectors.

I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A PHYSICAL REACTION TO THE ENDING OF A BOOK BEFORE I WAS LITERALLY GAGGING. I couldn't stop saying UGH in increasing volume i was SHOUTING by the end of it I had to put my tablet down I !!!!!!
the way it all ends with one massive disgusting violating blow, how dare he! HOW DARE HE. YOU DO NOT GET TO USE HIS NAME NOT NOW NOT- HOW COULD YOU FUCKING. I'm not over exaggerating i just gagged again writing this.
THAT WAS THE MOST VISCERALLY AND EMOTIONALLY REPULSIVE THING IVE EVER READ and it wasn't even GRAPHIC oh my GOD. Head over heels for this i'm gonna check out the others other work. FUCK.
sidenote: the narrator of the audiobook did a really fantastic job expressing Nortons hightened emotions at that point but jesus christ. fucking hell man.

What I think everyone needs to understand is that EVERYONE has red flags because not all red flags point to danger.
A red flag means a symptom that is being displayed could potentially be caused by something dangerous. BUT it could also be caused by something benign. It is a warning to keep an eye on things, not a death sentence.
But some of y’all acting like people should never raise a red flag in their life are entirely unrealistic.
HOWEVER, in media, a red flag is a Chekhov’s Gun. If you point out that there is a gun in a piece of media, and you don’t fire it, why the fuck did you put the gun there in the first place. So if I see a fictional character who is given a red flag, but then the narrative never fires it or even acknowledge it, why the fuck was it there.
… anyways this post got away from me.

okay. i need to rewatch the episode probably but i think my current feeling is that i like most of it a lot (rome, ken, the siblings not getting ceo, etc), think the tom ceo makes sense from a logical/character perspective but not sure how i feel about it from a broader more thematic lens (altho i'm leaning towards fine with it), and am very mixed on shiv's ending because i think it's well-conceived and meaningful from a broader thematic lens (shiv becomes her mother, the cycle always repeats, etc) but doesn't quite make sense to me from a logical/character one -- it could've worked, it could've worked brilliantly, but it was far too rushed and forced. it makes sense as an ending for shiv, but not her next step. i'm largely talking about her decision to return to tom, not her decision to vote against kendall (which i think should've been executed better and given more space but can understand given her character, mostly). i'm fine with it as an ending for shiv, but what i'm struggling to stomach is the way it played out -- it didn't feel like a choice the shiv we know would've made. it's an ending that makes sense thematically and for her character arc, but not a decision that makes sense for her character at present. that's kinda where i'm at right now
