As the fireworks explode in the night sky above, you stand outside with a jacket wrapped around you. The colors look beautiful as they shoot from the base of the firework and burst into a bright frenzy of light. Though, it’s not long until you feel something wrapping around your waist, a pair of arms pulling you back. As your pressed up against the front of this stranger, you turn your head and, to your delight, your F/O stands behind you.

“You’re back. You almost missed the fireworks.” You say, a sweet smile tugging at the corners of your lips.

“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I know how much you like them.” They respond, leaning forward to pepper your cheek and ear with kisses. You start to lean away, giggling at the ticking sensation before they come to stand beside you.

As they look up at the fireworks, your eyes are only glued on them. Their face is just as beautiful as ever, the bright lights reflecting off of their eyes. The small, relaxed smile on their face only makes it better. You don’t even register the fact that you’re staring until their eyes meet yours, a slight smirk creeping on their face.

“What? Is something wrong?” They asked. It took you a second to respond, uncontrollably staring at them until your smile reappears.

“No, nothing’s wrong.” You responded, glancing down to take their warm hand into yours. “As long as you’re here with me next year too, everything will be okay.” As you lean your head onto their shoulder, a quiet sigh comes from them before kissing the crown of your head.

“I feel the same way.” They whispered, their hand tightening their grip on yours. You start to feel at peace, knowing you ended off the year well. “Happy new years, my love.”
