Any tips for a new DND player?

Heyo! I'm joining my first campaign in two days and I want to know if there is anything I should know beforehand. I already have a set of dice on the way and I've made my character in DND Beyond. Is there anything I should know before my first session?

I just realized I've been working on my new DnD charecter sheet for hours on end and it's currently 00:21... I have class at 8:00... Weeeelll ¯⁠\⁠(⁠°⁠_⁠o⁠)⁠/⁠¯

Here's a lil picture of the current state of my desk and a lil look at what I have written down. Side note though, I have done small and short sessions with my friends and siblings. But I haven't been a part of a proper campaign and I'm not the most confident when filling in a charecter sheet.

I do have some of the books (Players handbook, Dungeon master's guide, Monsters of the multiverse and Xanathar's guide to Everything). And the information I've managed to understand has been useful but I struggle to understand everything at times (⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)

But anyway I should try to go to sleep now less I want to be a walking corpse around my campus.

listen I expected literally Nothing from the D&D movie okay, like I can't make it clear enough that I expected the most soulless money grab with a good cgi budget imaginable, I went in having already gone through every stage of grief and landed on acceptance and LISTEN

I fucking CRIED during this dumb RPG movie. it wasn't just "not terrible" it was objectively good with a clever plot and compelling characters and sincere emotional beats. this movie loves D&D so fucking much and it NAILS the "a bunch of goobers try to be cool and accidentally discover The Power Of Friendship And Also Great Violence" classic D&D party vibe. their barbarian's last name is fucking Kilgore and my entire family cried in the theater.

I hope they make twelve of these motherfuckers.
