G-Clone Project: Neo Godzilla
SUBJECT # 3: Godzillasaurus evolved/Neo Godzilla
Tumblr media
HEIGHT: 65 Meters
LENGTH: 110 Meters
MASS: 30,0000 Metric Tons
From the personal journal of Philippe Roaché:
"Since the emergence of the first damned atomic lizard, our world had entered an Age of Monsters. Gojira, or as the West named him 'Godzilla', is a natural disaster, a force of nature. Also, his DNA is practically madman candy. G-Cells, Godzilla's DNA, is a rare and dangerous commodity. The fools didn't learn a damn thing from Biolante, nor the 'Zilla' creature I helped the Americans kill in '98. I have regretfully aged to the point where I can't prevent the fools from bringing more of these damned things into the world."
-This entry was discovered a few years after his passing
I swore to never repeat Shirigami's unfortunate attempt to memorialize his daughter in the form of Biolante or the French's meddling that led to Zilla. But, as a dog for the government, which lives in fear of the King of The Monsters, even though this Godzilla (III) isn't as hostile as his late father. But, I have sworn to protect my country and serve the UNGCC under oath. We took precautions after the disaster of 2016, 'Shin' had an incredible evolutionary trait but, the creature was too docile for my superiors' liking, and the destruction left in its wake made it difficult to retrieve the frozen body. To prevent incidents such as 'Shin' but not having our subjects underperform as 'Zilla', we were precise in mixing the G-Cells in the bioengineering process, resulting in Subject # 3: Neo.
Tumblr media
Since Godzilla is considered the most powerful animal on Earth, the 1954 monster laid waste to Tokyo, the Lagos Island saurian that terrorized Japan became potent to the point of reaching meltdown, the third and current Godzilla having decimated the 'Gigan Invasion' and the 'Titanus Gojira', the ancestor to the Godzillas, being a wildcard, it was logical to learn our mistakes from Zilla and Shin, giving the subject the best of two. Given Zilla's agility and speed, remembering Shin's durability and potent Atomic Breath, I am in awe and fear of the beast we have created. The incidents with Zilla and Shin have already placed us under G-Force's eyes, the more observant of Monarch, and Yaguchi's people still investigating the origins of 'Shin' from our Maki's notes. If we aren't put in prison, I genuinely fear our creation would most likely kill us. If Neo or any of the Gojiran were to be aware of one another, I shudder to think of the gruesome conflict.

Kamen Rider's notion of justice has changed through the eras and it's really noticeable.
Showa era: I have been turned to a machine by an evil organization that are literal national socialists and i will use what they gave me to stop their plans,i may not be human anymore but I will protect everyone.
Heisei: An other worldly race of monsters is invading our world and only I can stop them,i might have to fight someone i considered a friend but i can't let those dear to me get hurt,so i will do so in the shadows.
Neo Heisei: someone is exploiting people i know and i need to save them! I don't have time to hold back,I will show people my feelings and intentions.
Reiwa: We as a society need to do better or else we will get run over by our paat mistakes. We got to acknowledge it to push forward so we can all be proud of ourselves and heritage.

ok so the results for best neo-heisei rider were about what I predicted. however I'm curious about another metric which those numbers didn't actually indicate especially well
I was in the majority in the previous poll. curious to see how this one shakes out

Ngl, Gotchard so far just might potentially be the first Reiwa rider season to have it's potential secondary rider make it's first debut the latest, surpass Revice to a lesser extent. (Daiji became Live later than Evil but even then Evil debut earlier on) Considering in most recent times the secondary rider often makes his debut pretty early like the second episode or so.
The last time we have a secondary rider debut pretty late (as in like the mid-late teens or so) like the earlier Neo-Heisei seasons and some later early Heisei seasons was Kamen Rider Beast from Kamen Rider Wizard...approximately like 10-11 years ago!
Or maybe they're trying to break the status quo of the rider classifications? (like how they don't outright call Neon/Naago a tertiary rider) Hmm...then again, that's just speculation. But even if we pretend that speculation turns out to be true, (it probably won't because maybe marketing reasons and then again the show is still going and again, the secondary rider can still make their debut in the mid-late teens like we got a decade ago) I would sort of respect them for trying to make new changes for this new era of Kamen Rider... (whether it's for better or for worse is an entirely different matter) At the same time, I have to admit it won't exactly feel the same not exactly having an official secondary rider again as that's pretty much been a staple since Agito... (Then again, it's highly highly unlikely we get a show like Kuuga again where the main rider is the only rider in the show. It's theoretical possible and manageable, don't get me wrong but I can't deny it's still improbable by this point in this)
So yeah, my speculations for potential possibilities for why the secondary rider is making it's debut later than we expected...is either: - One, they try to replicate the secondary debut element that we have gotten back in later Phase 1 Heisei seasons to early Neo-Heisei seasons - Two, they're trying to, at least partially break the status quo of rider classifications and trying something new or replace with a new status quo of classifications Which one of the two is more likely than the other, who knows? But hey, maybe there's a third possibility/theory or more I might be missing... now let's hear your two cents in all this, Ms. Kari.
Daiji debuted as Live in ep 10, so yeah, Gotchard already holds the record for the latest debut of an official secondary Rider as far as Reiwa is concerned. Kagerou debuted in ep 5. Everyone else (Isamu, Rintaro and Keiwa) debuted in ep 2.
If I’d hazard a guess, the writers of Gotchard are taking a lot of cues from the W-OOO-Fourze era of Kamen Rider, with the (relatively) lighter tone, more episodic plots, etc. This may include scaling back on the number of Riders in the series and spacing out their debuts more. Honestly, I kinda prefer this setup more, because sometimes it does feel like half the cast is just there to be fodder in fights or something.
As far as Rider classifications go, I don’t think they’ll push so far as to be rid of the secondary rider altogether. I can see them discarding the other designations but the secondary rider has been around way too long and and is too important from a narrative perspective (e.g. a rival or foil for the main rider). I mean, some Showa Riders are technically secondaries despite being part of the “main rider” roster because they’re not even the title rider of their series (e.g. Nigou, Riderman).
Yeah, they’re not getting rid of the secondary I think.

What's your favorite Heisei and Neo-Heisei Secondary Final Form? I'm tempted to assume IXA Rising and Deep Specter but I don't want to pigeonhole you too much.

so i've just been mulling over this, do you feel that all of the sequels & spinoffs toei loves doing for sentai and rider are acting as a deterrent to writers putting in lasting consequences in their shows, like killing off characters? of course i don't think killing off characters is automatically good or makes a story more "mature", but i don't love how extra rangers and even villains that died in their respective shows get flimsy revivals in crossover events and sequels for the sake of wider audience reach
well... neo heisei and reiwas connectivity has definitely dissuaded some amount of storytelling consequences i imagine. though i think even if spinoffs and crossovers stopped being a thing important heroic characters still wouldn't be perma killed off anymore, simply due to different standards of appropriateness for kids shows than how things used to be.
and maybe i need some examples of what youre referring to re flimsy revivals? honestly i feel like recent Extra Content has been more likely to kill characters than revive them. they killed fuwa, killed eiji, killed sonoi... but since those were in supplemental material it's easy to sweep them under the rug and pretend they never happened later if need be.
