*by this I mean like using one name for work/business and using the other in your/their personal life or in private
**meaning if your names are AA and BB you'd change them to AB and BA
I'd appreciate it if you'd reblog to get further teach and more results!! 🙏

You can change your name, it doesn't matter how often you change it, it doesn't matter however many names you go by, if you want to, you can change it, you could change it every week, every month, every year, it doesn't matter, you can change your name, don't feel bad about it

If anyone wants to send in how they picked their new name or why you decided not to change it, I would love to share!
This applies to anyone, not just nonbinary people!

OC NAMING TIPS!!
Tumblr media
quick tips for naming when your super confuzzled
-Find an adjective or attribute that desccribes your character well, and search up "names that mean xxx" (Example: Mustafa=Chosen, Amaris=child of the moon, Circe=magic. etc!)
-Open a random letter generator (i know, i know) and go until you find a good name, feel free to modify ofc
-Imagine the character's general personality: what would they want their name to be? if given the choice what would they choose?
-be cryptic and make secrets. rearrange words important to the character or reverse them. is it cringe? cringe culture is dead. be fucking spooky.
-stare at their design until a random fucking name pops into your head (works I swear)
-set in a normal, realistic IRL environment? look through baby name lists online or ask ur guardians if your in casual contact with them
-https://www.name-generator.org.uk/character/ this link, super fuckin good
RB with other tips for this if u know em bc apparently ppl need this really badly </3
RB to show more people who need this!!

Once more with feeling.
I mentioned in a previous post that I was thinking about changing my name and I’ve finally come to a decision on one I like. I’ve been using it for a few weeks with family and friends and I’m happy with it I think. Before I reveal it here though I wanted to play a little game.
I’ll reveal it once the poll is over. For now though I’m interested to see what people think! :3

I’ve been considering names. I go by Tobias/Toby here, I can’t tell to what extent it feels like “me” tbh but it’s at least enough to make my birth name feel unusual. Not bad, but like if someone referred to you by a username on a site you haven’t used in a while.
I like Tobias because it sounds like a strong, sturdy stone column like my birth name, and Toby is a fun, approachable diminutive with a hint of edge (iykyk 😉). It’s also familiar at this point. A safe haven in the search for myself. Perhaps it won’t be here forever, but I appreciate its security now.
I also was recommended the name Pidge by a friend somewhat recently. It’s more a neutral name, but I like it all the same. I do adore pigeons, and the name evokes the same air of curiosity, tenderness, and beauty that I so appreciate them for. It’s the ideal pet name, I think, like in Lady and the Tramp (pun not intended). How I love delicate and warm pet names.
I have others that I like, and at times feel particularly connected with, but none have stuck quite the same way. Mattias, Todd, Ripley, Hadrian, Jack, Schneider, Hatchet, Eddy, among others. Lovely names, but are they me? I’m not entirely sure.
I’m not too concerned about whether Tobias sticks or not. If it does, that’s wonderful! But if another name feels better, then so it is. My cousin rarely went by his birth name around family and my ex changed his twice. Some names are permanent and some are temporary, and both kinds are perfect.

New oc I’m working on! He’s an old-timey horse coach driver. He was blessed by a nixie when he was born. His face says Jacob, but his secretive personality says otherwise. What should I name him?

Thoughts on names:
- I realized I really like my current dnd character’s name. Honestly if I had thought of it earlier on, I probably would have chosen it as my name. Damn. Oh well.
- My chosen name makes me feel like a fantasy character, so that’s a win. Really fits with my Cottagecore librarian thing I have going on.
- I should have chosen a bird related middle name. For someone really in love with birds, I really missed an opportunity. Covey. Wren. Lark. All adorable.
- Dead name had a bird meaning, and it and my chosen name share a root word, so close enough I guess.
- I really like old lady names like Agnes, Beatrice, Briar, and Imogen. What does this say about me? I mean, I do love old people candy. But who doesn’t like butterscotch and black licorice.
- In middle school I started a name list for any potential future children. I think I know why the list of girls names was far longer than the boys.

Gonna be drawing some 2/jamie and 3/Jo soon-ish for a very kind person, but until then, I think since my name is not legal yet, I’m going to try out the first name Aro.
Aro Ace Addison

So I currently have a name that’s pretty stereotypically masculine? And up until now I’ve been kind of like “fuck you it’s my name it’s gender neutral if I want it to be.” That attitude is an energy that I like, but it also means that people just assume I’m a guy before they’ve met me?
Anyways, currently workshopping new names with family and friends. Stay tuned for announcements.
