100回箱根駅伝✨🎽🏃‍♂️

The kazetsuyo fandom-adjacent fandom that is the Hakone Ekiden has peaked for me because Otemachi I AM IN YOU for your 100th run!! I've been wanting to attend one since 2019 but had to delay that because of the c virus, so this has been a thought that took four years to finally manifest! I secured a really good spot to watch the runners take off from behind and while I'm underdressed for the occasion I've thoroughly enjoyed the moment. Morning and flag off happens in a flash, but the moment will be one to hold on to for the memories.

I want. Four to get appreciation. Because

Four gave a ton of unnoticed help when Twilight was injured

The fight with Wild was difficult, and I know we're all concerned about his negative view of the shadow crystal

But Four did something that no one else really thought of to help- He took care of Twi's stuff

From the beginning he told Twilight to not worry about them

So Four took care of pretty much everything but the others (that Sky and Wars handled)

He took care of Epona

Which is so very important- he took care of Twilight's horse. After her arrival at the stable Four followed up on her

And for Epona, a horse so attached to her human, having some company can help so much for reassurance

He took care of Twilight's stuff

He got Twi's shield- his bags and equipment, and organized it into one place

And he was worried. He obviously found the shadow crystal while handling Twi's stuff, but his negative reactions to it were out of concern.

Also- because of his placement in this scene

I'm fairly convinced Four was ready to start cooking before Wild showed up (since he's beside the counter with food supplies). At the very least he had the basket of fruit out for everyone -but he was literally standing with food behind him- he thought of everything

And he did housekeeping!

Wars payed for the inn, so Four took care of the inn

Realistically these boys were probably not too concerned with tidyness. Four got all of Twi's things on one table, and took care of the room they stayed in

Organizing tables and Twi's things, having food supplies ready, and opening the curtains- overall he was the one tidying up the inn

Four helped in a huge way! He took care of Twi's horse (Epona is so important), his equipment and shield and bag, as well as the other rooms in the inn

Four filled in all the little tasks that others didn't think of. He helped in ways that were needed, but not obvious

There's a lot of problems with the shadow crystal and with Wild, and I don't know what's gonna happen in the future

But don't forget this- don't forget that Four was one who stepped up in an almost unnoticeable way

Don't forget that when everyone was barely holding it together, Four visited Twilight's horse and took care of his things

No matter what develops in the future- this amount of care shown is important ya know?

Not to be overly sensitive on main but knowing I watched the bucktommy kiss live makes me so emotional ?? bc I’ve been part of so many fandoms and I’ve shipped so many gay (gn) couples and I’ve always felt like having them in my heart and in written word was enough but this feeling of being seen and being part of a community that celebrates with me and cries with me and see myself and my people reflected on a big screen not just as a concept but as a reality is so validating and idk im just so happy to have experienced that with you all

i was hoping to make a post like this under happier circumstances, but here goes.

as some of you know, everything with the cancellation and renewal campaign has happened right on top of the worst part of my mom's cancer treatment (plus the show was cancelled on my actual birthday 💀). i won't go into details, but it's been tough. lots of ups and downs, mostly downs, luckily ending (for now) on as much of an up as circumstances allow. the whole thing has been weirdly tied to the cancellation for me, kind of amplifying every feeling. the grief got mixed up, and there was so much of it - mourning the loss of the kind of future i thought i'd have with my mother and the time we might not get, mourning the end of a show that means so much to me and is such a big part of my life. different types of grief, sure, and of different magnitudes, but in one big ugly swirl. i sort of had a breakdown right at the start of february, and it was because of news about my mom, but it morphed into my brain telling me everything i'd ever written was shit and wanting to delete it all. stuff like that, spilling over.

anyway. i was holding off on writing this post to see if the show got picked up by someone else. but i still want to say it. because what also spilled over was the support and community from this fandom, and being in this space (despite the rough times and high emotions) helped me through it, because of all of you here. whether we talk regularly, or you left a comforting reply or simply a like on one of my posts about having a hard time (i tried to keep them few), or wrote a nice comment on a fic, or said something funny or nice or insightful in the tags of a gifset, or was active here (or on twt) in any way, talking/sharing/creating stuff about the show - THANK YOU.

you all helped me through all the ups and downs, and i am so grateful. thank you for being here, listening, distracting, helping me feel some joy despite the horrors. i love you and i love this incredible show and all it has brought and will continue to bring and inspire, and although it should go without saying, i'm not going anywhere. just do me a favor and give yourself a big ol' hug from me, and know that you made a difference for some random guy on the internet (but in reality for many more, and for this fandom as a whole, just by being here and being you) 💕

#🐭📓#oh wow this got long #i grieved so much in january and never truly got my hopes up even though i of course wished something would happen #that the second “cancellation” message did not hit me as hard as it did for others - like i'd already absorbed that reality #but no matter what. all the effort was worth it - even for just the slightest chance of renewal and showing the cast and crew all the love #and seeing the fandom rally and all the fun moments we found along the way in a shitty situation none of us wished to be in #and for the record - i don't think this means there is no possibility of anything happening in the future #i just think the current/immediate negotiations fell through due to the current streaming landscape #you never know what can happen even if nothing happens for years #it's just that it's not happening right now and we shouldn't be at the edge of our seats. but instead settle into long term fandom mode #instead of constant campaign mode. keep showing all our love for the show and letting it inspire us and move us #and keep supporting the cast and crew in their next works #there is so much more to come from the same creative minds #and i for one am looking forward to experiencing it with you all 💗#ok i will stop rambling now skdjfhdjks

Can I bitch for a second? Like, I just want to understand why, in the past few years, comments and reblogs on fics have gone the fuck down. Like why? What fucking changed?

In 2020 and 2021, I used to get comments all the time on almost all my fics and now it's like...I'm lucky to get any. I also know that I write for small fandoms so like, that's a contributing factor, but still. Even with my latest multichapter fic, there are no subscriptions. Like, everything has just gone down.

And while I realize that the pandemic happened in 2020-2021, the decline has been happening for a while, especially here on tumblr. Comments and reblogs and asks about fics are just...not really a thing anymore.

And people wonder why writers don't wanna continue. Yeah, yeah, that whole thing of write for yourself, we all write for ourselves, lets be honest. We do. But we also want to share our creations with you because that's the whole fucking point of art. You want to share it with others and have them appreciate the work and time you put into it. And we'd like to hear feedback! It's literally not a bad thing to want comments. And people need to stop making writers feel bad for saying they want comments. And reblogs. Likes and kudos are great but they don't do anything. They just tell us that you liked the fic/work. But they don't tell us what you thought, what moved you, what rewired your brain, what made your heart thump or flutter or clench. That's what comments tell us. That's why we want comments. We want to see our fics through your eyes.

Writers shouldn't have to beg for interactions, so please. Reblog and leave comments on fics. Please. It's really the least you could do

Aegon bear hugs Daeron, damn near crushing him, every time he comes to visit from Oldtown, and announces very loudly (and typically very drunkly) to his siblings (who are right next to him and can very plainly see that there brother is standing right there and might have already said their greetings) that their brother is home and quickly calls for wine so they can celebrate.

they share hugs and stories before sitting somewhere they won't be bothered until they run out of wine. it almost always ends with Aegon lovingly draped across his siblings and either Aemond or later Daeron (once he's big enough for it) dragging him to his chambers where he will vice grip around their waist and they end up giving in to an afternoon in his bed (the other two will shortly follow with books and other entertainment and Helaena will bring the babes).

aegon missed his littlest brother and wants a day to be a soft and squishy mess. none of them, not even Aemond, will complain about cuddles.

welp. it’s yo-kai over for all of us who enjoyed the dubbed… time to start looking around for who’s hosting it on their website.

and for the love of everybody, don’t post any of the sites you find on here, we don’t want them getting taken down too.

we’re as equally desperate for the yo-kai watch dubbed anime to resurface as you are. however, find a different way in messaging each other about the site, just not publicly though like a post, gotta make sure the big men up there doesn’t play the “I’M TELLING MOM ON YOU GUYS!!” card on us.

Also, as a safety measure, I, @lesbianjibanyan/Whis, will find whatever website is hosting all of the dubbed episodes, screen record them or even download them, and upload all of them onto a Google Drive for everyone to use!! WHICH, funny enough, isn’t the first time I had to do something for a show I deeply cared about, worrying that it would become lost media. (*cough cough* robot and monster *cough* foster’s home for imaginary friends… *cough* the latter half DID get removed off of its respective streaming services, funny enough, hulu being one of them, and only being able to buy on any streaming services that allows you to buy shows or movies *BIG COUGH*)

soooo yeah! looks like that’ll give me something busy to do as I’m making time for myself! (since I’m posting this while I’m on break from tumblr, which has been really helping! ^_^) and, of course, I’ll make sure not to overwork myself as well too!

my biggest hot take is that in a show with a wide variety of characters, if you only actually enjoy or feel invested in 2-3 of them, you're probably not a very good basis for understanding or appreciating how the show works

So, for some context, this person was arguing that the Gerudo were stealing Hylian men, or forcing themselves on Hylian men for the sake of reproduction, even though in OoT one of the Gossip Stones clearly says that the Gerudo search for boyfriends outside of their territory. A "boyfriend" generally does not involve coercion the last time I checked.

(That is only the tip of the iceberg I am not willing to expand on all the other....drivel) Regardless, that is not my point. My point is how this person laments that Nintendo won't commit to the "dark grittiness" because they fear backlash from certain communities, of course referring to the "Middle Eastern" community which they go on to characterize as cultures that have problems such as "engaging in slavery". Ah, woe is us that Nintendo won't expose exactly *how* barbaric the Ara-I mean the Gerudo are! In any case, the point is that, fictional races based in Orientalism actually continue to reinforce the way people view those races in real life. Considering current events and the disgusting comments people leave under pictures and videos rife with human suffering, it is literally a societal ill. It is completely fine and normal to ask of a game to depict a fictional race as they *really* are, yup.

Anyways posts like this serve to show how normalized Orientalism is in current society that it is seen as completely fine and rational to just say things like this. And, if we want to talk about the LoZ community in general, while they may not say it so directly, it is definitely the way they think. People will write about the Gerudo being ruthless thieves because they *have* to be in order to survive without asking the question "well, why do they have to be thieves in the first place". People will talk about Ganondorf having unbridled hatred for Hylians which is seen as almost canon at this point when canon has shown us that it is Hyrule at large that bore hatred and had overt racist attitudes for the Gerudo and Ganondorf (as he is often characterized as vile, evil, scary). Meanwhile, Ganondorf has never expressed actual hatred for any race in particular, the target of his ire being that he is deprived of the resources others are granted freely. The Gerudo are characterized as women who will steal and force themselves on men for the sake of survival to the point that people think this is canon, that they have prison cells to keep their baby-producing men in there. Meanwhile canon has been clear that the Gerudo are wary of men because outsider men like to be creeps and snoop around, and that the Gerudo punish those men that dare to trespass and violate their laws by imprisoning them as anyone should when an unwanted stranger comes into your house. Canon has also been clear, since the OoT days, that the Gerudo want loving CONSENSUAL relationships because, you know, they want their daughters to have loving parents. Of course Ganondorf is a rapist because he is the villain and that is what villains do BUT ALSO being a man surrounded by beautiful sexy ladies he just takes sexual availability for granted. Meanwhile in canon he hardly shows any interest towards his own people, let alone anyone else. He loves and worships power.

It is just fascinating to me that the Gerudo in popular fanon are always handled with this edge of barbarism and exoticism as if it's just normal, and then they get mad when they're told it's the orientalism that is baked into their brains that's why.

#part of why i talk a lot about this topic #is because a lot of people in fandom care a lot more about their blorbos than they care about the actual people that are being hurt #I have seen people who have learned to empathize with marginalized communities #because they learned how to empathize with the gerudo #which you know for me its a little concerning #BUT if seeing fictional people as people #will let you empathize with the actual people they are based on?#well be my guest I will do that #but the point of this post is to show that people do actually relate fictional people to the real people they're based on #its not just fiction here #ganonthots

okay i don't want to be THAT bitch but if El calls out Mike on his bullshit in s5 how the love confession was shit and untrue i do kinda want Mike to turn around and be like "okay well what do you love me for?" because let's be real girl would not have an answer for that 💀

and maybe it would be good to be the last thing that would make her go oh i've never loved him that way either

like yes she totally should throw everything in Mike's face cause she deserves so much better but let's not pretend like she's a good girlfriend to him and it's just Mike being the problem

this fucker has been depressed and struggling for months and like did she ever even ask how is he doing? not her fault but the fact that Mike has been struggling and never once thought about talking to El because he doesn't feel like he can be vulnerable with her? the fact that he pretends he's someone he's not because he feels like she wouldn't want him for who he is? seriously no hate to El i love her to bits and yes Mike is bigger asshole in this but we really need to stop acting like El is perfect and can do no wrong

and that one time in s4 when Mike actually tried to be vulnerable with her and let her know that he understands because he's been bullied his whole life and she just invalidates his feelings and completely dismisses him? i do understand her pov and what she meant but as someone who's also been bullied and have so many people invalidate my feelings and how it affected me and still affects me to this day all the time it really hurt to hear it. the way Mike's feelings are constantly being invalidated and dismissed by both the characters in the show and this fandom just because "others have it worse" really disgusts me

anyways i really just want to point out that this is a relationship. there are two people in this relationship and it all goes both ways. it's not just Mike being an asshole friend and a shitty boyfriend. El isn't really a great girlfriend either and when they were just hanging out together the whole summer it is on El too. they're both just kids trying to do their best and making mistakes we can acknowledge that both of them make some really questionable things so they both can grow and learn
