Just a quick thought about these 1899 flashbacks.

The more I think about these apparent flashbacks in 1899 the more I feel like it's factually wrong to consider them a remembrance, because I don't think they happened in the past. I think these events are happening simultaneously to the events in 1899.

Tove for examples stumbles through a door into this farmland scenario full of traumatic experiences, which at first appears to be a past event or memory.

However, what happens in these situations manifests physically, therefore can't be a dream or a memory. Physically, as in Tove has blood in her face when she returns to the Kerberos scenery.
