Hello! I was wanting to apply with a pitch for series 5, but I haven't written any gallifrey fic yet (as I'm still very fresh) but my best friend Ouidamforeman encouraged me to apply! But before I do I wanted to ask if it is ok and if i'll still be considered even if none of the fic I can provide is gallifrey or doctor who. If that's an automatic no, that's perfectly fine! I've ran zines in another fandom so i completely understand. Thank you for your time! -Buckie

We appreciate your interest! Unfortunately, we can’t consider writers without a Gallifrey writing sample; we need to see how each applicant writes Gallifrey characters.

We will consider non-Gallifrey fics as part of the application, as an indicator of overall writing quality. So if you wrote a Gallifrey fic (of any length, but something that demonstrates your characterization) in the next few days, we would look at both that sample and other examples of your writing you submit.

It’s a short time frame, I know, but I want to give you options! You wouldn’t have to publish the Gallifrey fic either; writer applicants can upload unpublished fics too.

(And you mentioned series 5, but as a reminder, all writer applicants should pitch for at least three seasons.)

But given the whims of his host, Aziraphale was starting to think that any slight wrong move would be quite a big cause for concern. Long spindly fingers closed over his shoulder, a soft hiss in his ear. He jumped, nicking the side of his neck in the process, blood trailing down and staining his white shirt. --- Or, the boys indulge in some roleplay.

A03 meme time, except I've been writing and posting fanfic to the internet since before A03. And before fanfiction.net. And before Geocities. And before the World Wide Web. There's fic of mine with ASCII doodle illustrations somewhere out there where the wild BBSes once roamed…I was tagged by @moveslikebucky; thanks Buckie, here goes. <3

how many works do you have on Ao3? 54. (and yes if we added in all the fanfic outside of A03 it'd be a larger number but I can't be bothered to consolidate it all)

what’s your total Ao3 word count? 341,744, which is better than I was expecting, yay.

what fandoms do you write for? At the moment it's just Good Omens, but there's been a lot of Dragon Age, some Lord of the Rings, and way back in the day there was Harry Potter and a lot of anime. I am toying with dipping my toe back in LotR, there's a thing I wrote ages ago that's entirely finished and just needs editing and I've been meaning to get it out there for ages. It's long though, so that'd be a commitment.

what are your top five fics by kudos? What Custom Strictly Divided (507) Like an Echo Far Away (415) (this one wasn't in the top five last week when I first started writing this post! So I think @mielpetite gets all the credit for boosting it with amazing fanart) What Comes From Your Hand (402) Give Me Your Illusions (346) Nightswimming (307)

do you respond to comments? Yep! Sometimes just with "Thanks!" or hearts but I try to. Though they get away from me sometimes and then I do a bunch all at once.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Definitely Warmaiden, which is my "What if Éowyn got the One Ring?" fic, from an idea that occurred to me one day and wouldn't leave. Clearly that doesn't end well for her, or anyone. From GO fandom it's probably Silent Night, which I still want to expand into a larger fic to be a set with Give Me Your Illusions. Someday, someday.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of them! But for the happiest I'd say Swan Lake Revised, cowritten with @mostlyjustgoose. And if we ever get part three up it'll be even more happy. And smutty. Very smutty.

Do you get hate on fics? Very rarely. I've been lucky there.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh here's the irony. I used to do a lot a lot a LOT of online roleplaying and mygod I wrote smut. So much. So. Much. I don't do as much rp these days but even so the threads I have going are still frequently pure filth. But in fic, much less so, even though I want to. Why it all gets channeled into rp and not as much into my fanfic I do not know. Honestly I want to write a lot more of it. Smut forever!!

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Sometimes, when I have a good idea. But the craziest one I ever wrote, ages ago, was a pure crackfic for my 21st birthday, where I imagined a bizarre party for myself in which LOADS of fictional characters (mostly from anime) showed up so I could make them interact in wacky ways. It was utterly ridiculous but amused me. Making all the characters voiced by Megumi "She's Everywhere!!" Hayashabara meet up and wonder why they all sound alike, for example. Also I wish I'd written an Artemis Fowl breaks into Gringotts to rob it fic before I became so disillusioned with both Artemis Fowl and Harry Potter. Heigh ho.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yep. It was impressive how lazy the person was about it too, they stole all the html as well. Someone brought it to my attention pretty quickly.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Twice, yes. Into Portuguese, as I remember.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Hi @mostlyjustgoose, I adore you, please co-write things with me forever. <3 Our baby is Unusual Strings, a reverse omens AU love story, and it's SO. CLOSE. to being done. So close. Aughhhh. I love our angel!Crowley and demon!Aziraphale so, so much.

What’s your all time favorite ship? Aziraphale and Crowley, Faramir and Éowyn, Hiccup and Astrid. Don't make me choose between those three, my head will explode.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Shut up shut up I will finish all of them ALL OF THEM I SAY…sigh. Beauty and the Battousai. Though I should probably mention A Demon in the Dreaming and The Queen Bee. (they're plotted and outlined and parts are written aaahhh come on ADHD meds help me out here)

What are your writing strengths? Dialogue, definitely. I'm good at putting humour into things. Got compared to Patricia Wrede once and honestly, life goal achieved there. I can do memorable phrases and descriptions and edit well.

What are your writing weaknesses? What is plot. Why does it hate me. Why are my original characters one-dimensional cardboard. What is worldbuilding and how do I do it without getting stalled into paralysis. Baaaah. This is why my original novel will never be finished and I keep running back to fanfic instead.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Hoo boy contentious subject! I love reading it so long as it's translated somewhere in the footnotes, I'd be happy to write it if I knew other languages, the question of whether it should be italicized or not has apparently Officially been settled by The Publishing Industry on the side of Not.

First fandom you wrote for? Oh gosh I think it was the Dragonlance books by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The first that ever got shown to other people was Ranma 1/2 though.

Favorite fic you’ve written? It's still What Custom Strictly Divided. Though Unusual Strings comes very close.

Hello tumblr friends! Me and @ouidasart are so happy to bring you another collab today! This time taking place in the crusades, where Aziraphale is a reluctant participant, and Crowley decides to show up in what might be the worst form he could've possibly picked.

Aziraphale rushed through the encampment, arms held close to his chest.  He made his way to his tent, linen canvas shielding him from the world as he sank to his knees.  The small serpent in his arms tumbled out onto the furs that comprised Aziraphale’s makeshift bed.  It was bleeding and its breathing was labored and heavy, struggling to suck in air through its small snout. Of all the stupid things Crowley had done in their lifetimes, this might have been one of the stupidest.  Slithering through the camp amongst these young knights was just asking for trouble.  The journey to the Holy Land was taking longer than anticipated, and the knights were spoiling for anything to shove their swords at.  It wasn’t surprising that they would turn them on a small creature. Crowley was lucky Aziraphale had found him when he did, before one young man could land the killing blow and chop off his head. Aziraphale removed his tabard, tossing it to the side. His chain mail followed after, hefted over his head with a groan as he took it off.  He wiped his sweaty brow with the back of his hand; there would be no way for him to focus with the metal weighing him down.  Crowley wriggled and squirmed, snake instincts taking over as he tried to burrow into the furs. “No you don’t, get back here,” Aziraphale said, catching Crowley by the tail as he hissed.  He bit into Aziraphale’s hand, and the angel winced.  But he would allow Crowley this.  He was hurt and disoriented, but the worst would be over soon.

What's a book you'd recommend at the moment, and why?

Read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer! It's very kind and intelligent and enriching so far. Also I am working through All Good Things: A Treasury of Images to Uplift the Spirit and Reawaken Wonder by Stephen Ellcock, which is part of my collection of strange and interesting picture books. I think anyone could get something out of a book like this, just looking at the pictures and their sources. I've been reading The Complete Book of Erotic Art by Drs. Phyllis and Eberhard Kronhausen as well, which I found in a university thrift store and have been enjoying and thinking about a lot, especially the sections on censorship and freedom and how interesting hearing perspectives from the 70s sexual revolution is while we're having our own modern censorship crisis lol

Also all of my followers read the Good Omens novel if u haven't yet have u read the Good Omens novel it's my favorite book :)

What's a hobby that you really enjoy, that you don't talk about much?

I've been learning embroidery lately and am really enjoying it! I also make jewelry (mostly earrings) quite often. Working with little trinkets has been one of my favorite things for a long time. A non creative non fandom hobby I'm also really passionate about is collecting vintage illustrations and prints, and strange picture books!

Have you seen a really good movie or tv show lately?

I watched the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians show with my mom and I liked it a lot! We read the books to each other with my brother when I was a kid :)

What's a podcast that you think everyone should listen to?

I literally don't listen to podcasts lol

But I have been enjoying Mythillogical on YouTube which I just realized is actually a podcast lol

I need to finish the Eighth Doctor Adventures books. I only have 9 left ouggggg

For the 40th list, a special couple - Madame Tracy and Sergeant Shadwell! It should have been number 38, after the week that was dedicated to Anathema and Newt, but Tumblr ate the draft so here we are.

Four fingers. One thumb. And a bouquet. by @be-kind-to-each-otter   - rated G, 398 words. Summary: "Oh, Mister Shadwell… You remembered?" He hadn't. ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~ In which Tracy catches Shadwell in the entryway to their flats with a bouquet of flowers in hand.

Christmas Spirits by Argyle - rated G, 445 words. Summary: Captain Ffolkes was dead, to begin with.

The Arrangement by ngk_is_cool (me!) - rated G, 8.3K. Summary: Marjorie Potts always knew she was different. Not only because she preferred dyeing her hair over gushing over a pretty flower, but also because she can speak with ghosts. Armed with the armour of righteousness, a secret, freshly dyed red hair and a heavy wallet (a goodbye gift from Ms. Anning, who was kind enough to show her a treasure that was hidden in the wall of her former house), she left her village in favour of the big city, to seek new adventures and change the world.

Friends and Comrades by HopeCoppice - rated G, 500 words. Summary: The day before Madame Tracy moves in next door, Shadwell has a completely normal day with his friends and comrades - with no idea how his life is about to change.

A Little Bungalow, Somewhere Outside London by bethagain - rated G, 557 words. Summary: Shadwell's not much for conversation. Tracy finds that she's just fine with that.

Old Witchfinders Never Die by PeniG - rated G, 5.6K. Also Aziraphale, Crowley, The Them and Death. CW - secondary character death. Summary: Even someone who doesn't take any better care of himself than Sgt. Shadwell can last a long, long time with the help of an angel, a demon, and the Hoor of Babylon. But that doesn't mean he's any readier to go when Death comes for him.

Witchfinding for Beginners  by @unproblematicme - rated T, 420 words. Summary: Communication is key. Sometimes it doesn’t quite fit.

A Year In The Life of Marjorie Potts by @moveslikebucky - rated T, 1.8K. Summary: Marjorie Potts moves to London in August of 1966. This is her first year there.

Never Too Old by tikli - rated T, 403 words. Summary: A missing scene set immediately after Sergeant Shadwell had "popped the question".

Professional Services by @fenrislorsrai - rated T, 499 words. CW - implied Sexual Content, food mentioned Summary: Shadwell's new neighbor needs his professional services... as a lockpicker. This customer is FIRED as soon as they get the handcuffs off him.

Hellooo, do you have any well written vanilla fic recs? No AUs or other characters other than just OG Crowley and Aziraphale? One of my favorite fic authors is chaoticlivi on AO3 and I've read her works a hundred times over, I'm lookin for more fics like hers. It doesn't have to be NSFW though, I just love her writing style so much, she brings them to life so vividly, its amazing. Thanks!

Everything but Crowley had stopped.  Birds hovered in the air, the wind stayed in place, the whole nine.  Even Aziraphale had been frozen in place, smile beaming on his face mid-turn towards Crowley.

It had taken a fair bit of effort to start it back up again; then they continued on like nothing happened.  Aziraphale was smiling and talking animatedly with no idea of what had transpired, and their fingers stayed intertwined all the way to the restaurant.  It was nice, this affection thing.  He thought he might be able to get used to it.

So uh, helps if I actually post stuff doesn’t it?

Here’s my D&D PC, I joined an ongoing session run by a coworker of mine and @moveslikebucky’s, it’s been ongoing for about a quarter of a year and they joined a couple sessions before I got over getting in my own head. Saffi’s a Fighter/Ranger, pretty blatantly inspired by pulpy adventure archaeologists/treasure hunters. And yes I used one of HF’s weird scifi guns to stand in for a hand crossbow cuz I wanted something a bit more like the OSS’s Little John crossbow than the actual hand crossbows, it makes sense in the context of the setting given that it’s, like, a homebrew dieselpunkish take on Forgotten Realms instead of Forgotten Realms proper.

I have some more dicking around on HF designs to post, about half of which are actually a year and a half old but never got added to my long reblog chain so I’m slapping those on a separate post.
