“Villain?” Hero called, as they stood in the crumbling ruins of the building.

They heard a very faint sound, spinning on their heel Hero looked down. There in the middle of the smouldering crater lay Villain.

“VILLAIN!!” Hero screamed, their voice crackled through the mask.

Hero scrambled down the crater, falling to their knees at Villain’s side. “No no no no no no”

Villain’s hair was freshly singed and sparks danced across their suit. Blood trickled from their lips

Hero took a hold of their face “Villain? Villain please wake up! You’re ok! You have to be okay!”

Villain groaned, eyes fluttering open looking up at Hero

Hero gasped in relief “Hey,”

A small smile formed on Villain’s lips “Hey, did we-did we win?”

Hero chuckled “Of course we did! We beat Supervillain, you saved the day!”

“You’re damn right I did!” Villain said triumphantly punching the air, their face instantly filled with regret as they curled in on themselves groaning in pain.

“Shit! Villain! Hang on, don’t try to move! I’m going to grab the medic!” Hero went to stand up, but Villain gabbed a hold of their hand.

“No, there’s no use. I’m on the enemy team, they won’t heal me.” They said sadly

“Do you think I give a shit that we’re on the opposite team?! You are the reason we’re still alive! And if my team still thinks of you as the enemy, well then they can go fuck themselves!!” Hero snapped

Villain gave a pained laugh “I love you”

Hero paused, taking their time to brush some of the grime from Villain’s face.

“I love you too” Hero said squeezing Villain’s hand as the got up

“Don’t move, I’ll be back as soon as I can!” Hero called as they climbed out of the crater.

“It’s not like I can!” Villain called back, then again to themselves “It’s not like I can” as they laid their head back into the rubble slipping unconscious.
