Okay maybe I shouldn’t have expected a complete rewrite, but the ending was satisfying enough. Instead we make him our friend and we’re actually sad that he’s leaving.

Is he still locked up? Sure! As he should be! He kidnapped and almost enslaved an entire town, that should come with some form of retribution. However, this ending comes with a path to redemption for him. With that, I’m satisfied

Character Bio: Father Matthew

Father Matthew is a priest that was sent to the carnival to investigate demon sightings. The Church thought it was a useless mission and dismissed it as people being scared of clowns, but sent Matthew anyway to give him something to do.

After a terrible interaction with Ringmaster and Carmine, he was punished by Ringmaster and became a vessel for a creature that claims to be God. The creature doesn't cause chaos to anyone but Matthew, as it likes the carnival since its dear friend (Ringmaster) runs it. Matthew can see visions and grow many eyes at will (or the creature's will). He is considered part of the "freakshow act".

He has neurotic prey animal behavior. He's jumpy and nervous, with the creature now inhabiting him not helping.
