Minecraft Update 1.20

Releasing in 2023

They aren't showing all features for this update today, only those close to finish. They'll show new features overtime

Hanging signs! 3 ways to place, made of chains and stripped logs.

New Bamboo woodset! New block unique to this set: Bamboo mosaic. No Bamboo boat; a bamboo RAFT instead, but has the same functions

Chiseled bookshelves! You can interact with them, put up to six books in them. Enchanted, regular, book and quill can all go on these shelves. Has redstone capabilities (yes, for secret doorways). Completely different texture than regular bookshelves.

Camels! Rideable - can hold two players. Taller than the player, near Iron Golem size. Dash ability to clear ravines/rivers. Slower than horses.

Betas, previews, snapshots for these features will be available in a few days or a week

I've got the notes on what they announced for the next update:

-Trial chambers

corridor that leads to different rooms w/ supply chests

new structure

lots of variation

each chambers feels different

new decorative blocks - new type of chiselled brick?

new copper bulbs - lighting sources.

when oxidized it gets dimmer

copper grates - semi transparent block - ages w/ copper?

includes spawners, blocks around spawner indicates what mob s spawning

new type of spawner - Trial Spawner

adapts based on amount of players in fight

only a limited amount of spawns

has a cooldown - once it spawns all the mobs it it has a cooldown before it can spawn them again

New Mob: The Breeze

Uses wind to fight

Wind charge: burst of energy, doesn't deal damage when blasting things away, but does damage when colliding, interacts w/ buttons & trapdoors

AUTOMATED CRAFTING

bonemeal on sugar cane? <- not confirmed but hinted at? "wish this sugarcane could grow taller than me quickly!" "wait and see"

About Copper Doors

I feel like copper doors and trapdoors should be Redstone activated, no? A copper door fells like it should be heavier than a normal wood door. At least for me a metal door makes sense to be opened by more power.

and we only have one Redstone activated door which is the iron door, and the iron door is just a white blank slate and in some builds it just stands out like a sore thump.

However the copper blocks always come in four colors which would give us more options for the more secure door.

and we could even give it a fun twist like the copper bulb has! the more oxidized the door the more power it needs to be opened, for example.

i just feel like there is a bit more potential with them that isn't used. and i wanted to put my thoughts out into the void of the internet haha

If one more god damned person mentions adding the Aether to Minecraft i'll scream. the Aether is something i personally never wanna see, bc like the 3 dimensions we have can get so much more, why add another one that basically just acts as The End 2? also, this is just me but how can we find a 3rd shape for a portal? the nether is vertical and the end is horizontal, we can't have a diagonal portal can we? idk, it just annoys me especially considering most people who complain about no Aether also complain that Mojang isn't focusing on fixing the overworld.
