13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

rule of thumb, i do listen to music while writing! the only times i don’t are when it’s late at night and i have to be quiet so i can’t play it from my laptop and my ears hurt from my headphones lol -- for the second part,, it’s just a lot of indie playlists mostly, like the “00s Indie Folk” and the “Front Porch” playlists on spotify my beloved, really specifically though, when i was getting to crunch time on the first chapter of my danielfest fic i was listening to “just asking” by aquilo (the title song of the fic) on repeat

20. Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics?

so, this one is a little complicated because technically i’ve only ever written canon fics BUT i love coming up with aus! i don’t know if you’ve seen the 1982 australian western CLASSIC man from snowy river but daniel is jim and max is jessica and cowboy daniel should rescue max after he falls down a mountain!! audrey hepburn shot funny face and charade because she knew that they’re simply ideal au fodder!! i think about the maxiel vineyard au (and their three children joey emmy and vito) every single day!! if i don’t write caterer daniel falling in love with his overly dedicated postie max that is the only postie working for the australian government who delivers daniel’s weird kitchen gadgets and bizarre ingredients out to daniel’s farm then what am i even doing with my life??

so, i love to put people in Situations but i’ve never actually written any of it (unless you count the tumblr fic royalty abo)

36. What fic are you proudest of?

this is probably a curve ball but To Experience You At All Times which is a spring awakening melchritz fic, it’s the first fic i ever published on ao3 (bc there is at least one fic lost to ff dot net from when i was like 12? 13? that i got a mean comment on and it still makes me cringe/bums me out to think about it to this day); but this sa fic was the first time i ever shared my writing with a group of my friends and the first time i ever received positive feedback from strangers on my writing; it’s also the first time i ever did a lot of research for a fic (two little german boys in 1890s germany could have used olive oil as lube but they would have only had a very limited supply of olive oil in the house bc it would have been relatively expensive to import at the time); and i think the sex is hot and the emotional beats hit, and i don’t know i just think it’s more substantive than a lot of what i’ve written since is and honestly kind of think i’ve gotten worse as a writer over time lol
