DREAMS ARE MY REALITY.
what would happen if your favourite fictional character appeared in your bed..?
Part 2
A/N: finally came back! Exams period is almost done, so I can mainly focus on writing fan fics and replying to your comments. Thanks to everyone who never stopped giving me support during these months.~ For this story I was heavily inspired by the "Reality" song by Richard Sanderson. Last night I watched "La Boum" and something clicked in my mind the moment the movie titles came by. I highly recommend that movie (and its main song!).
Tumblr media
Fantastic. Another day gone bad. Not only I lost my notes taken at university with great effort (who knows where they flew thanks to the wind...), but it had rained until the end of the afternoon and a careless car passed by at great speed, soiling me with rain and migo mixed together.
«Ugh! You fucker!» My feet stomped hard on the dirt, realizing that what had just happened was just the beginning of a long evening. I'll just open the front door, walk into the kitchen, and throw my comfort on the sofa that I look forward to.
It seemed like an eternity would pass on the way back, and my body barely even managed to walk, almost like a dead weight. Don't walk on the ground. That would have been the last straw.
«Shit,» I thought aloud, the moment my eyes saw my house from afar, «Finally home». Taking the keys out of the backpack was also, a real pain in the ass: a real tangle of wires and metal had formed there since my headphones had not been folded properly. A sigh escaped from my lips the moment I walked through the front door, searching with difficulty for the light switch. I didn't waste any more time removing the ruined clothes (and placing them in a water bath) and letting a hot shower melt my nerves. It was just what I needed.
I knew I had a smile as I lathered my body thoroughly. Now the scent of lavender was something calming.
``I should make some tea too``.
~
«Oh, now that's what I am talking about! ». My smile didn't leave my face, as I excitedly opened the book I had left hanging a few days ago, due to my exam period. Being under stress didn't help me find the concertation and desire to identify myself with the main character of the book. ``That's enough``. This thought flooded my mind. ``Now you can rest, because you deserve it, so enjoy your reading``.
``Thanks, other me, maybe you're right`` I replied to the little inner voice that I assumed had a satisfied grin on her face.
Yet my eyes fell on the mega poster that took up most of my bedroom wall: Miguel O'Hara. This man was going to be the death of me one of these days. I remembered the day when my heart wanted him only for me: in the new Spiderman, starring Miles Morales, many would have said that he was the perfect villain, even if I kept countering, claiming the opposite. Of course, his anger issues didn't help get people on his side. He was perfect in every aspect: tall, muscular, intelligent, thoughtful. My god, where do I have to sign to have him next to me?
«Too good to be true». I sighed aloud again as I pulled my attention away from the poster and back into my book. I think it wasn't long after I started reading and my eyes started to get heavy. I might have let go of the book, and fallen asleep with it on my chest. It had been a bad day in every way. Perhaps that is the reason I imagined hugging Miguel more than once. Maybe that's why I also felt my mattress getting heavier under my back.
~
I was awakened by the sun's rays penetrating through the curtains of my room. I loudly grunted at the thought of getting up early to do my daily cleaning chores around the house. But what harm would it have been to stay in my warm bed for at least an hour longer? Turning over, I had the feeling that my bed had gotten much heavier. Or was I still dreaming of hugging Miguel?
Slowly my eyes opened and focused on an unfamiliar figure lying next to me. I had a moment of confusion. Why...was there a person in my bed?
Only when I fully focused on who was in front of me I almost fainted on the spot.
"AAAAHH!" I grabbed the first pillow nearby, slapping the stranger hard several times, and leapt out of bed, the pillow still in my hands. The man, taken aback, tripped on the ground, and a great thud resounded in the bedroom. I hugged the pillow tightly to my chest. Oh, holy god. What was happening at that moment? I was so confused I could have sworn my face was as just as confused.
The man grunted aloud and scrambled to his feet, throwing his hands in surrender.
«What the fuck did I do?!» he yelled, in sheer confusion too. Maybe at that moment, I could have passed out, I swear to whoever you want! Because whoever I had in front of me was a real dream.
«Holy shit...»
«What?!»
I swallowed hard. «You are Miguel O'Hara. Miguel O'Hara was in my room, in my bed!»

Okay so this is prob a baldur's gate 3 spoiler so if you haven't # out that tag, then uh? Yes.
This is also obviously a rant.
So I'm on my 4th playthrough, and my take on the guardian/ emperor changed. Very. Fast. And not in a very nice way.
So the first time I was in love with my guardian, I was in a romance with Astarion, but holy shit I would give the world to my guardian, so yes u can imagine my fucking heartbreak of the moment I saw him, like I had to stop gaming cuz I felt so betrayed.
And then I obviously were just hurt and whatever but nice about it to him.
Then I decided I would actually romance him as my second character, mage dude, and well....
Things happened, and I got the same story he had like "Nobody knew who I was, I had so many friends" bleh bleh, and I remember feeling pretty like 🤨 when bone daddy- I mean Withers, said that mindflayers don't have souls like? Excuse you what about the emperor??
And I ofc slept with him, which u can do, and I obviously don't kink shame if you're into it, but i was not
I was hiding my face, peeking through my fingers, and then just regret everything ever.
And like? Romance was fine, and I didnt turn into a mindflayer at the end, cuz I was also dating Karlach and well... can't be a mindflayer then.
And the whole thing that HE was the founder of Baldur's gate? That HE IS him??? Honestly?
At that point I felt even more upset, and disgusted. Not only cuz of what he did, but just... him. And ugh. (I didn't do that quest the first time, cuz I didn't know)
Then come me as durge...
First of all... I've never loved a character more, maybe Gage from fallout 4, than my durge, a queen like wow💅🏻
And with her I was just done with the emperor, like... I expected him to be the same, ya know?
But no.
No.
He was NOT!!!! the same.
And this game have sent me on so many rollercoasters I wanna lie down and never get up
I feel so betrayed? So... stupid I feel so fucking stupid, cuz Withers SAYS mindflayers don't have souls?? And I????? Believe this tentacle monster????? Like wtf
And then only to learn that his "friends" were actually NOT???? But basically possessed to "hang out" with him?
And yeah he claims that he ate "only criminals" but how do we know??? If he lied about that? He probably ate other people too, he probably didn't even spiderman/batman himself around like he said/showed us he did.
As I played more and more durge I just felt disgusted and a fool, like?? I do talk, rant, to friends and yes even family, when I'm either yay obsessed about the game/character or to upset rant, and everybody knows about the beginning and end and on actually how much this hurt and I know its so stupid
But o m g I am so??? UGH
I hate him, like I fr fr fr hate him.
I'm playing as a Githyanki now, and I'll find out how that works out, but bruh.
Istg if I find out more shocking things, I will just nap for 3 days...
And I'm trying to stay as much gith as I can, but also how mellow my dude is, but yeah...
I fucking hope I don't have more to add to this, cuz that's gonna be in all capital letters istg

An Enemy? A Friend? No, just your friendly neighborhood Spiderman.
Chapter 3: Of Food Preferences and Rooftop Meetings
Chapter Summary: While regretting several life choices, Sam has to deal with Clint Barton as his partner on the search for a spider-themed vigilante. Meanwhile, Spiderman strolls through Queens, looking out for the citizens of his hometown.
Read on Ao3.
"For someone claiming he hates Barnes, you two share an uncanny similar constipated expression."
Barton is unbothered by the glare sent his way for the comment.
The archer doesn't break eye contact with Sam as he bends over, too lazy to pull the glass closer to drink, the corner of his lips turned upwards.
A bypassing waitress shoots the pair a strange look, caught off guard by the blond man who forces the last bits of his caramel-toffee shake through the purple plastic straw, creating an obnoxious noise.
Clint does not let his eyes stray, staring straight ahead at Sam, their knees uncomfortably bumping against each other under the too-small, sloppily cleaned dinner table.
Sam's left eyelid twitches.
Being the bigger person, not only by height, he swallows back the remark sitting on the tip of his tongue and gives a small sigh instead, allowing himself a moment to wallow in self-pity.
What good did saving the world do if you end up forced to sit at a diner in the middle of Queens on a Monday afternoon with an arrow-shooting idiot, waiting for the AI of an eccentric billionaire to hopefully inform you of an unknown vigilante in spandex to pull up?
Speaking of said AI, Sam glances down at the Stark Phone its inventor had thrust into his hand before throwing him out of the building.
"I'll let Friday know you're not allowed back in until you bought useful intel on the Spiderling." Sam hadn't made the mistake of questioning if Stark was joking.
He most likely wouldn't like the answer.
Sam eyes Barton, scrolling on his mobile phone, having done nothing the last forty minutes than share unuseful information about Spiderman, the archer found on the web. Does Barton believe the people wouldn't lie for clout, sporting anything about the vigilante without proof? Sam had looked the vigilante up, too. It wasn't hard to notice a pattern. Anything with Spiderman in the title got unrivaled attention, positive and negative. Although most news articles and posts about "your friendly neighborhood Spiderman"- Barton had let out an amused snort when Sam read out the name - were praising him, there are exceptions, sharing a near identical standing as SHIELD and the higher authorities about the person behind the mask. To them, Spiderman is another vigilante who pulls through his take on justice, neither caring about hindering the NYPD from doing their work nor abiding by the law. Those articles don't stunt the citizens of New York to adore the web-slinger. Especially Queens seem to love their new-won vigilante. Every day, new posts about an encounter with the mysterious spider-themed man appear on the internet or even make it into the news headlines, talking about another act of sometimes reckless heroism.
Sam lets out a tired sigh, ignoring the minuscule rise of Clint's eyebrow at the sound. They have been waiting there, receiving stares and sometimes cautious questions for an autograph despite trying to blend in for two hours without a hint of Spiderman. Sam pressed his thumbs against his temples as he felt the tale-telling sign of a headache coming. He reloads the search engine in the hope that maybe there had been a sighting of Spiderman that Stark's AI somehow had missed, only to find out that not even a Stark Phone was immune to getting caught in a filter bubble. He blankly stares at the headline of a new post, "Do you share the same ice cream taste as Spiderman? Check out now!". Shaking his head, Sam turns the device off. Watching the rain pour down outside, he was ready to write off their chances for today in getting a hold of the vigilante. Sam's involuntary partner for this mission continues scrolling, unbothered by Sam's internal struggle on his own Stark Phone. A knee bumps against Sam's leg, causing him to glance at the archer.
"According to this fan blog, Spidey has a thing for churros, pizza Hawaii, and Delmar's sandwiches," says Barton as he points at the phone, a hint of bewilderment on his face. "That's weirdly specific. Do they know our food preferences, too?"
Sam deliberately ignores the question, frowning at the information. Fury did say that the vigilante was famous around Queens, but now people even post what the vigilante eats? He couldn't decide on what he found weirder, Spiderman's food preferences, that people make blog posts about them, or that Clint found more information about the spider through random stories the citizens of New York decided to share on the internet than from SHIELD within two hours. Sam throws Clint an unimpressed look.
"With that specific type of information, we will find and convince him to come to the tower in a second."
Sam finds a spark of satisfaction as he catches Barton rolling his eyes. The feeling does not last long as Clint pulls out the straw after finishing his drink, pointing at Sam. Sam eyes the beige-colored milkshake droplets flying all over the table at the action, eyebrows drawing together in suppressed annoyance at the mess. The archer smirks at him.
"If we get Spidey to talk to us through offering him Churros, the joke's on you."
Sam chucks a napkin at him.
__________________________________________
The subway grows louder as it comes to a halt, electric doors opening a second after it stands still, letting out a flood of people who quickly make their way across the station. Peter skillfully avoids getting hit in the back of his knee by masses of language trolleys as he steps out of the metro, walking past a large group of tourists blocking half of the station with their presence. His head bops slightly to the beat of the music playing from his navy-colored earphones. It wasn't his color of choice, but when Ned told him he got new ones for his birthday and was about to throw them out, Peter took the chance and asked if he could have them instead. Ned had asked if he was sure. His earphones were pretty old, but Peter insisted he didn't mind.
"I don't get where you take the patience to mess around with broken-down electronics. It's impressive, man."
"It's fun, I guess."
Peter shrugged his shoulders with a lopsided grin as he held his newly obtained earphones, his hands itching to modify them. Messing with the noise canceling feature was a well-thought-out choice as the teen walks unbothered by loud chatter and the incoming and bypassing subway cars towards the stairs. Concentrating on the rhythm of the bass drumming in his ears makes the noise of the subway station more endurable. He does an excellent job at focusing his senses compared to after the bite but using the modified earphones did help, especially if he was tired after a turbulent school day. Peter doesn't bother waiting for the people on the stairs to move. He slips past the businessmen and women in a zigzag motion, the adults not bothering to glance at the mob of brown curls brushing past. Peter presses himself along his worn-out schoolbag through the masses of commuters, finally reaching the top of the stairs. His pupils draw together as the sun hits his face, a few rays of sunshine breaking through a dark blanket of clouds, causing him to squint.
He takes a deep breath. The scent of summer rain lies in the air.
By the time the teen arrives at the apartment, the shallow rain has colored his shirt a dark blue. Stepping inside, his hand reaches for the light switch while pulling one arm out of the soaked clothing. Passing the mirror in the hall on his way to the bathroom, he notices in relief how the bruise on his lower back had vanished, and that just in time for tomorrow's gym class. It had stayed surprisingly long, but maybe that's just a thing when a rusty fire escape comes crashing down and threatens to hit the nice man around the corner selling hot dogs. No hot dogs or people got harmed, thanks to Spiderman being at the right time at the right place, and the vigilante even got a free snack out of it. While his back had taken a nasty hit, Peter is glad no one got seriously hurt.
Stepping into the kitchen, Peter finds a note on the dinner table telling him May won't be home until ten. He checks where his aunt left her purse, estimating with a glance how much they had before taking a bill and shoving it inside his pant pocket. The sleeves of the raincoat are a tick too short, and Peter shoves his hands into his pockets while walking through the growing downpour, heading to the grocery store down the street. It's a little warm under the raincoat, but getting bitten by a radioactive spider and gaining enhanced abilities doesn't give one immunity to sickness. Not even Spiderman can escape the hold of a mean summer cold. He greets the cashier with a nod, the blond teenage girl behind the counter giving him a bored look before she's back on her mobile phone, paying her new customer no further attention. Peter wanders down the aisles, stopping as he squints at the price of the protein bars.
"Could have been nice," mutters the teen but walks further, collecting what he knew was essential. He takes his items and goes up to the register. The cashier doesn't acknowledge the teen awkwardly hovering in front of the counter, busy retieying her hair into a semi-neat ponytail. He watches her until their eyes meet, and she raises an eyebrow at him. Peter's ears burn as he hastily places the items onto the countertop. The girl pushes her mobile phone to the side, not bothering to shut the device off as she begins scanning the groceries. In his hurry, Peter knocks over a soda. The canned drink slowly rolls forward, threatening to fall over the edge. Peter catches it swiftly, a smile of relief crossing his face. The girl holds out a hand, and it takes Peter five incredibly long seconds to register that she wants him to hand over the soda.
"That's 9,56$. Do you have a card?"
"Uhm,"
She sighed, cutting off anything he was about to answer before pulling a card from under the counter. "Buy something above ten dollars five times, and you can get a protein bar for free."
Peter's ears grew red as she fumbled for the money. Had he been that obvious? The girl doesn't spare him a further look as he hurries and stuffed the groceries into his backpack. When he reaches out for the card, something catches his attention. His eyes wander up from the two stamps on the paper. The girl wasn't looking at him, back on her phone already, but he smiled at her anyway.
"Thank you. Have a nice day."
"Yeah, whatever."
Pushing the card into his back pocket, Peter leaves the grocery store in a good mood. The rain was still pouring down from above. The boy tries to bypass several large puddles that have begun collecting on the sidewalks.
"Help! Someone, please, help me!"
The hairs on his neck stand up as a well-known shiver runs down his back. Peter pulls the hood off his head to get a better listen. He closes his eyes, focusing on the panicked voice. It is faint, but after getting past the all-surrounding patter of the rain, filtering out the noise of cars passing by, he can hear it more clearly. The teen takes off into the nearest alley. Changing into the suit doesn't take more than a moment. With practiced movements, Peter pulls the mask over his head and attaches his backpack under the bottom of an aircon, preventing it from getting taken. Alternating between running and leaping from rooftop to rooftop, swinging over wider gaps between the buildings, Spiderman makes his way toward the call for help in a hurry.
An all too familiar sight awaits him. A young woman is getting cornered by two large men, the latter hovering over her as she presses her back against the wall in an attempt to put as much space as possible between them. One of the men has her wrist in a tight hold, promising to leave a bruise. The woman looks terrified as the other man grabs her jeans jacket, forcing it off her shoulders. She tries batting his hands away, opening her mouth to scream for help again when the man holding her wrist lifts his free hand.
"Shut up, or not even your mother will recognize your pretty face if I get angry, you understand? Just keep quiet and do what we tell you."
While he speaks, the man steps forward, his hand settling down onto the woman's shoulder, thumb slipping under the loose strap of her top.
"Who knows, maybe you even like it, hm?" he asks, with a suggestive voice, grinning at her, his hand traveling further while not only rain starts dripping down the woman's face. The woman shuts her eyes, trying to avoid the man's gaze, standing like turned into stone in front of them. A small panicked scream escapes her as the hand around her wrists suddenly pulls her forward, sending her stumbling. She tears her eyes open, hands reaching out to stop her fall, when she feels the hold growing slack. The woman blinks in stunned silence, taking in the red filling her vision. In front of her stands a person with their back to her. The red belongs to their suit, if you can call it a suit. It is a strange get-up of mismatches of red and blue textiles, but even if she had never seen them in person, she, as a citizen of Queens, knew at an instant who had come to her rescue.
"You freak will regret this as soon as I get my hands on yo-ompf!"
"Tell that someone who cares. Or better, don't say anything at all," with those words, Spiderman shoots another web at the guy's head, leaving the criminal completely immobile. The vigilante turns around, his eyes hidden behind some goggles directed at the shivering woman.
"Hey, are you alright?"
The sound of a voice filled with genuine worry and care coaxes a sob out of the woman, her knees bucking as the tension leaves her body.
"Woah, careful!"
Spiderman steps closer, arms hovering an inch from her shoulders before he glances around. He lets out a hum of triumph as he bends to collect her jacket and carefully drops it over the woman's shoulders, asking her again if she's alright.
"I'm okay, thank you." She stutters a bit as her breath hitches from a sob. Spiderman stares at her with his emotionless eyes, tilting his head.
"Do you mind calling the police? Or hand me your phone. I contact them for you."
She wordlessly hands over her mobile phone and listens silently as the vigilante calmly explains the situation to the person on the other line. She feels numb at the ease the man talks to the police, his answer sounding almost practiced as if he had done this hundreds of times already, causing a sick drop to settle in her stomach. How many girls and women did Spiderman have to save from this? She draws the wet jacket closer around her body as a shiver runs down her back.
"Do you want to come wait outside?"
Spiderman nods towards the entrance of the alley leading towards the main street. Catching her glance at the webbed-up men, the vigilante steps between her and them in a protective manner.
"They cannot hurt you anymore. The webs won't dissolve within the next two hours, and the police are on their way. Would you like me to wait with you until they arrive?"
"Yes, please."
Spiderman nods and gently guides her out, not touching her but standing near in case she stumbles. She leans against the wall next to the alley, sniffling a bit and absentmindedly rubbing at her eyes. Spiderman waits next to her on the other side of the corner, eyes on the criminals and keeping himself out of the limelight.
"Are you going to be good by yourself? The police will be here in a minute."
"Do you think they will be upset with you? You saved me. I'll talk to them to not bother you."
"Thank you, but that isn't necessary. I don't want to keep the police up longer than I need to. I'll be up on the roof."
"Wait a moment!"
The woman's eyes widen as she looks around the corner to see the vigilante hanging with only one hand and one foot set against the wall, on his way to crawl to the top when he stopped after she called for him.
"I want to thank you. You saved me. I don't know if- what these men-, what would have done if you wouldn't come. Thank you."
The vigilante stays silent for a moment before sending her a small salute.
"I'm happy I could help, ma'am. Stay safe."
True to his words, the vigilante stays on the roof until the sound of police sirens draws near. He listens to an officer asking the woman if she needs to be brought to a hospital while another group goes into the alley to deal with the men. He paces on the roof until the police car with the woman drives off, taking her home safely before he quickly swings back to collect his stuff. Peter grimaces as he pulls off the wet suit. He changes into his dry clothes, not risking swinging home and climbing into the apartment in his suit during the daytime. This little excursus outside his regular patrol time had been risky enough and only possible because he is paranoid and takes his suit everywhere.
The next time Peter steps out as Spiderman is several hours after his aunt comes home from work. May looked ready to fall asleep on her feet when he peered out of the kitchen to greet her. At the sight of dinner already prepared, the woman pulled her nephew close to place a soft kiss on the side of his head.
"That's very nice of you. It looks good, sweetie."
He smiles at her, not bothered he has to cook for them. He liked preparing meals if he got the time, and that's not only because of an ulterior motive like not wanting to eat May's cooking. Not at all. He doesn't mind slightly burnt and bland food. It goes well with orange juice.
Peter tilts his head to the side, observing four men clad in black surrounding the wall next to a bank, a suspicious jeep parked right next to a stopping prohibited sign. When the men begin to attach something to the wall next to the automat, the vigilante decides it is the right time to show himself.
"Uhm, excuse me. Are you seriously trying to break that ATM out of the wall? You know that's about 1557 lbs. If that falls on you, you end up a pancake."
"Shit, it's the spider guy!"
"Didn't I tell you to watch out?"
"You said watch out for the police!"
"That spider freak and the police are equally bad, you moron!"
The vigilante winces in sympathy as one of the men slaps the other against the back of the head before he stands up.
He had been crouching on top of a lamppost, watching what the group was up to, wanting to get an overview of the situation. The vigilante takes a step back. Spinning midair, Peter swiftly lands on his feet before casually walking up to the four men. One of them steps forward, holding something that looks like a taser.
"Stop right there, spider freak!"
The vigilante stops in his tracks, head tilted to the side.
"It's Spiderman to you, Sir."
He gives a short cough into his fist before straightening up, trying to make himself look taller. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against- hey! Watch out where you are throwing that thing!"
It doesn't take a genius to recognize the object thrown his way to be explosive. Spiderman flicks his wrist forward and shoots a web at the bomb. He tightens his hold on the web in his hand and rotates his body, spinning twice to build up more strength. Using the momentum, Peter cuts the web at the right time and sends the bomb flying soaring into the air. Two seconds later, the bomb goes off with a loud explosion, the sound ringing painfully in Peter's ears. The alarm of several cars starts going off.
"You idiot, we needed that!"
"With him here, we couldn't get the money anyway. We have to get going!"
"You can't leave the party without cleaning up afterward, guys," Peter pauses for a moment, "does that make sense? Anyway, I cannot let you go like this."
"Does he always talk that much?" asks one of them, looking at the man standing closest to the ATM and whom Peter gathered is their leader.
"How is that important now?" asks the leader, fury lacing his voice as he shoves the other harshly towards the vehicle.
"Move, you idiot!"
The vigilante raises an eyebrow under the mask as the men hurry towards the car while the one with the weapon takes a hesitant step in his direction, holding the device with a shaking arm in front of himself.
"You should get some new friends, dude. They just abandoned you. I don't know if it makes you feel better that sacrificing you won't help them, but maybe you guys should talk it out in your holding cell."
Provoked by the words, the man charges at him, but Peter side-steps swiftly, avoiding the stun gun aimed at his side. A sudden ringing in the back of his head has Peter leaning back, just in time as a knife stabs into the air where his chest just had been. "Not cool, dude. That could go into someone's eye."
He leans back, contorting and performing a bridge before pulling his legs up and kicking the knife out of the man's hand. With his feet back onto the ground, Peter crouches down and swiftly kicks the man's legs from under him, sending him to the ground. He forces the stun gun out of the man's other hand and webs his arm against his chest, leaving the man on the ground for now. He looks down at the man.
"Don't take it personally. I'm just not a fan of pointy things."
Spiderman's eyes squint together at the sight of the other criminals trying to flee with the jeep. A web hits the man, about to climb into the driver's seat, pinning his hand against the door handle. Peter turns around and shoots another web against the man's back, whom he had sent to the floor, and tugs again, a little harsher than before. It sends the man flying against the car, the impact bending the side of the vehicle. His partner, who got hit in the process, lets out a pained grunt.
"Oops. Sorry," calls Spiderman, not sounding that sorry, before quickly shooting two more webs, covering the whole side of the car and the two men attached to it in the sticky threads. The leader pulls out a gun, but before he can aim at the vigilante, the weapon is shot out of his hand and safely discarded by sticking high up against the side of the building.
"Explosives, tasers, knives, guns, where do you guys even keep all that stuff?" mutters the vigilante under his breath as he webs the man against the wall of the bank. Turning his back to the cursing man, Peter reaches for the side door where the last criminal had climbed in during the chaos unfolding. Peter's spidey sense sets his body on alert as he opens the door. Something soars in the direction of his head, aiming for the place between his eyes. His hand shoots up instinctively, catching the object with ease. He glances at it, eyebrows raising in surprise before facing the man, who stares at him angrily.
"Did you just  throw  brass knuckles at me? Do you even know how to use these? I'm pretty sure throwing doesn't fall into that category", questions the teen, sounding dumbfounded. The criminal uses the short moment of bafflement to shut the door in Peter's face, the lock clicking in. Peter narrows his eyes, grabbing the handle a second time. He opens the door again, this time with a little more force than strictly necessary, a crack indicating the lock and probably something else, too, has broken under his power. The throwing of brass knuckles should have been a hint of the criminals growing desperate in their attempt to flee, but Spiderman couldn't help yelping in surprise at the new weapon flying at his head as soon as the door broke open.
"A baseball bat? You serious?"
Peter grabs the bat and merely rips it out of the man's hold, throwing it over his shoulder and barely missing the leader stuck to the wall.
"Let's finish this, alright."
The man's eyes grow comically wide as a red gloves-covered hand grabs him by the collar. He gets dragged out of the vehicle and pushed against the slanting car door, where he gets stuck with a layer of webs. Spiderman walks over to the discarded baseball bat and shakes his head at the sound of protests from his attacker.
"Don't worry,  I  don't use stuff like that," Peter says, breaking the bat in half like a stick before he collects the taser, brass knuckles, and lastly, the gun, which he easily tears out of the webbing. He throws the weapons into a pile on the ground before webbing them into a ball that he sticks onto the car seats. He then walks up to the leader and pulls the man with one hand from the wall before attaching him to the jeep.
"So," draws Peter out, sitting crosslegged on top of the jeep while waiting for the police to arrive, criminals all sticking in various angles against the car, "I kinda  bombed  your party, huh?"
"For the love of god, if you don't shut up.-" he cuts the man off with a web shot against his mouth, muffling the rest of his protest.
"Well, at least I had a  blast  catching you guys."
"I swear if he makes one more pun about this-"
"Hey hey hey, cool down." Peter jumps down from the jeep to stand in front of the leader, who, despite pinned against the car, holds a good two heads of height on him.
"It's not my fault this thing  blew up  on you."
"You annoying little-"
"Hey, look! It's your ride," interrupts the teen with a cheerful voice, gesturing towards the police cars arriving under the sound of sirens. He is about to turn back to the man, another quip on his lips as the hairs of his neck raise, his spidey sense buzzing in the back of his mind.
"Where is your last accomplice?"
The man throws him an annoyed look. "There is none, and even if there is, I wouldn't tell you piece of-"
"Yeah, yeah," Peter rolls his eyes, shutting the man off with a web to his mouth. That starts to become a habit. Despite the man's words, the young vigilante jumps back onto the jeep, glancing around the street, searching for anything that could have sent his sixth sense off. His eyes dart around, foot tapping a little restless on top of the roof as the buzzing doesn't stop, but he cannot pinpoint where the supposed threat is coming from.
"Spiderman, care to explain what happened?"
Peter glances down at the officer who had stepped out of the police car while two additional cars came driving around the corner of the street.
"They tried to break open the ATM, Sir," answers Peter, gesturing towards the man stuck to the car. "I collected their weapons, but they still could have some on them or in the car," he explains further without stepping down from the vehicle. While the police officer seems not fazed or apprehensive of Spiderman being on the scene, Peter had enough experience through his short time as a vigilante to be aware that not all of NYPD liked him. The officer nods at his words and surprises Peter by thanking him for catching the criminals and, additionally, keeping the damage while restraining them to a minimum. That has always been something Peter worked on while patrolling. Maybe it is ingrained in his brain to create as little of a mess as he can, but whenever he sees something break or someone getting seriously hurt, he feels like he could have avoided that. To have someone acknowledge his efforts causes a little grin to spread under the mask. Peter gives the officer a small salute before jumping out of the car.
"Always happy to help, Sir," he says before breaking into a run and swinging into the night. The rest of his patrol would have been relatively uneventful if there wasn't the buzzing reminding him steadily that he should watch out. The unease from before wouldn't lessen, and although Peter is proud to have avoided two muggings, he couldn't feel much joy as the constant sense of  something  being wrong sits in the back of his subconsciousness. Flicking his pupils around but still not sensing anything suspicious, Peter climbs to the roof of an office building. In two, of the fifty bureaus under him, there is still light burning. Peter wonders which poor soul is up at two a.m. doing office work. That couldn't be fun. He stifles a yawn.
"You're hard to find, Spiderman."
Peter freezes, nearly choking on his spit. He suppresses a cough that tickles the back of his throat.
He knew that voice.
He had heard that voice more than once, had seen the press conferences, had watched the interviews, had sat together in Ned's room, his best friend and him listening in awe.
The teen slowly stands up, ears picking up on the electric whir that's drawing closer. A moment later, he can feel the presence of a second person behind him. The sound of metal clicking together accompanies the vigilante as he turns around, wishing he could clear his throat but not wanting to embarrass himself. His Adam's apple bops as he gulps involuntarily, and Peter has to force his fingers open, not wanting to show how uneasy he is but failing miserably. He stands stiff as a board, staring at the two men standing at the other end of the roof.
Once again, Spiderman's mask saves the day. Neither of the men could depict any information from the vigilante, and Peter couldn't be more thankful for it as he could take a vague guess that he probably looked like a deer caught in headlights. Hyperaware of his surroundings, Peter's heads shift towards Falcon. Falcon moves from one foot to the other, and Peter almost guesses that the man is nervous. Staring at the hero he worshipped since elementary school without making a single noise, emotionless masked eyes directed at him, Peter couldn't think of a reason for the man to be uncomfortable. He should be the one who could sink into the ground with awkwardness and tension surrounding them as neither of the three says a word. Peter silently stares at Hawkeye and Falcon, standing eerily still, simply observing them, and - Oh. Okay, maybe he had found the reason why Falcon feels uncomfortable.
"Come on, Parker, say something. But don't make it embarrassing,"  thinks Peter.  "Those are your childhood heroes, and they want something from you. Just say hi like a normal person."
"Good evening, Mr. Barton, Sir. Mr. Wilson, Sir."
"How do you know our names," asks Clint, sounding genuinely curious, used to people addressing them by their hero names.
"You have a Wikipedia page!" blurts Peter out before wincing inwardly at the eyebrows raised at his words. There goes his plan for a non-embarrassing first impression.
"You've read our Wikipedia pages?" asks Sam slowly, as if saying the words slowly would let them make more sense.
"Twice, actually."
Peter wants to yeet himself over the roof. Mr. Wilson doesn't try to conceal his weirded-out expression while Mr. Barton seems a little amused, but Peter isn't sure if he can trust the expression of a trained spy slash hero after telling them he read their Wikipedia page not once but twice like a creep. With his face burning behind the mask, Peter takes a small breath before gathering himself.
"Ehm, you have been searching for me?"
Barton nods in confirmation before pointing his thumb over his shoulder towards the exit. "We need you to come with us."
The vigilante tilts his head at Hawkeye's words.
"And you need me for?" Peter draws the last word out as he eyes the two men, feeling the tension sink back tenfold. Two of the Avengers come out in the middle of the night to ask him to come with them? He shifts slightly, feeling the edge digging into his feet. Peter blames his nerves for the need to flee but suppresses the instinct to bolt even though he undoubtedly feels like it. These are the Avengers. Whatever they want, it couldn't be harmful. He shoves the thoughts of them wanting to know who he is in the back of his mind. He is a part-time vigilante, barely worth mentioning. There is no way the Avengers needed him for something that led to him revealing his identity or something.
But what do the Avengers need a small-fry vigilante like him for?
"Tomorrow at 09:30 p.m., the second conference room on level 64, Avengers Tower. We will await you." Peter blinks at the words, completely thrown off by Falcon's commanding tone. He breaks out of his stupor when the two men nearly reach the roof's exit.
"Wait! I can't at 09:30."
Falcon raises an eyebrow.
"You are declining a meeting with the Avengers?"
"No," Peter clears his throat, ears flushing at the crack of his voice. "No, I don't want to decline. I can't make it then, I have cl-, uhm, I mean, I can only the evening. If that's possible?"
Peter draws his shoulders together at the sound of Mr. Wilson sighing.
"Tomorrow noon at seven, same location."
"I'll be there, Mr, Wilson, Falcon, Sir!"
"I hope so," mutters the man under his breath, not going unnoticed by Peter, who picks the words up effortlessly with his enhanced hearing.
"Yeah, well. See you then. Bye, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Barton, I have to leave now." The spider-themed vigilante leans back, letting himself fall from the roof, shocking both heroes, who run up to look over the edge. Clint tilts his head as his eyes follow the small figure, skilfully swinging through the air by shooting webs from building to building.
Sam frowns before glancing at the archer. "Didn't Spiderman act weird just now?"
The blond shrugs his shoulder. "We found him, that's all that matters. I'm going to sleep now. Tomorrow is going to be fun."
Sam glares at the archer, who clamps a hand on his shoulder, a shit-eating grin plastered on his face. Of course, Barton gets amused by the weird spider guy.
Sam heaves a sigh. Something about the vigilante was off, and although he could care less to find out what it was, it still irked him not to know. He can only hope the others knew what they signed up for.
Working with Spiderman was going to be a pain.
Sam was sure of it.

Just watched MSM Spiderman
The disney+ one that so many people hated and thought was the worst spiderman. Well I liked it, it had lots of potential and sorry I tried Ultimate y'know the [BEST] one ever but I just...physically can't. but yeah I could write some reviews so heres a quickie.
Overall when I watched some episodes thought it was over hated and some plots made me go "Le Gasp PLOT TWIST!" And ended up enjoying the writing.
But then there were parts that were cringe the "It's obviously its made for kids hence why it's agony to watch part." Or when it went hard at some points like peter not telling Harry he's Spiderman because his dad has a vendetta and didn't want to be put in the position of having Harry use Spiderman only to capture him because he'll have to choose between his best friend or his dad and Peter thought Harry would never choose him.
As I'm limited with the spidey content I watched with only the raimi/andrew Peter/osborn stories this cartoon actualy conceputilsed harry and Peters friendship because other versions just never hit that close and their issues etc.
But I understand why some people dislike it. Sure I like it, but yeah first season as it kept going I thought "Ah...I get it now."
They introduced Miles Morales near the beggining. Then he ghosted.
Oh no something explosed they need spiderman! Miles was RIGHT there!
And then the story was like Miles is missing!
What a surprise, it's as if the writers just remembered they have a SPIDERMAN v2 in there!
And I got bored becuase most of it was just filler like yeah thats what the guy in charge wanted. [I had the same idea with Ben 10 Omniverse, I liked that show too and didn' understand the hate and when a friend said should he watched it I was like "Oh sure here a ten episodes and thats pretty much it." him: Isn't there a hundred episodes? Me: Ah...I see the problem now]
But GOD the potential, I mean sure the Superior Spiderman ep 1 maybe I'm not giving it a chance and should skip a few and try again [I probably won't those noses? ugly I can't just it looks like a toenail]
Tumblr media
Like no I can't believe I live in a world where TOENAIL face is called superior over...
Tumblr media
This face at least it looks like they HAVE a nose! jeez
Anyway moving on, I admit it got to the point where spiderman only started feeling like spider-man in the last two episodes when his quips were actually funny and I thought. Yeah I'll end it at Season one. Given that they brought in black cat, dropped. Miles Morales spiderman? Dropped until convinient, Gwen Stacy turned her into a bug. Sandman "I did this for my daughter angst." Her daughter : I'm a sand person too! No thanks to you, deadbeat dad! Le gasp plot twist Daughter KILLS sandman! Oh my god did they just do that holy cow and THEN The sysbiote jumps in holy shit-
Daughter/sandman episode gets dropped. Symbiote episode: Spider-Man: The symbiote is awesome strong powerful amazing! People: No spider-man its making you evil. Spider-man: Your right! I need help getting it off!
And this happens twice, like again could've pushed it a lot harder, it's like introducing a cool concept and then just tripping on their feet at the finish line. Like c'mon. And Otto octavious voice felt so cartoonishly evil it was hard to take seriously since it sounded like robin from teen titans go. [I know it's the same voice actor I'm just saying I hate western cartoons currently coz I'm like wow I grew up with darker and harder villians like SLADE from teen titans meanwhile current villains are as scary as kittens its physically painful]
Anyway, say what you will about MSM but I actually loved how Norman Osborn was almost using cancel culture to claim that Spider-man was part of a spider army and things would happen like the jackal confirming it and if Norman actually manipulated events to make public opinion and his own son hate Spider-man and have it spiralling out of control?
I thought that was cool, and actually intersting of Norman instead of being goblin first, or a two bit villain used image/lack of context and painted him in a bad light. I just thought it was cool and wished more versions did that.
__________________________________________________________
And the other things, love this episode with iron man [shut up I like the potential kay!]
This scene was cute like iron man is dealing with a threat is so used to lethal/suspicious/more dangerous foes. So seeing this nerdy fanboy just happy to see him? And then scans him to realise he's a kid? How he was first attacking then became impressed then even figured out his obvious identity [Peter can't lie for shit] and had some obvious interest that even Black Widow mentioned it? How they had a team up, and stark almost died because of his arc reactor - like ugh the angst and I wish there was more. Just more episodes like this...
Tumblr media
But then the symbiote scene wish again, cool since it was anti-tech but then the whole song and dance AGAIN of, symbiote good no you're right get it off!
Like idk I think they could've yknow what forget it. I'm a 90's kid who is so used to DARKER stuff that when this series just shaves the tip of the iceberg I'm like OOHHH the potential!
Such a shame...anyway thats what fanfictions are for.

Feel free to ignore this if the request is too uncomfortable/mean-spirited for you. This can either be a one-shot or headcanons, but how would Peter Parker feel about his partner heavily disliking MJ but absolutely loving Ned? They just don't like MJ for her attitude so they avoid her whenever they can but will go a mile go hang out with Ned. And no matter what Peter does he cannot change their mind about MJ? Sorry if this is stupid, I just came up with this on a whim^^'
Tumblr media
(EDIT: Just realized how long this is. 😳😳😳 Got to excited. Finally my first Marvel request!!! Please send me more!!! I am a huge Marvel fan.🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️)
Peter just doesn't understand it!
Why do you hate MJ so much? (I almost put Zendaya lol. 😂🤣😂)
You claimed it was because of her attitude.
Maybe that might be true, but he felt there was more to it then that.
He really thinks that if you give her a chance you'd get along.
At first, he noticed how MJ did try to get along with you, but then one day he saw her scowl at you then turned in the other direction.
He assumed you two got into a fight or something.
He had tried on multiple occasions to bring you to together with no avail.
Even Ned tries to help out.
You've always gotten along great with Ned.
There are moments where you two will hang out without him if he's busy.
You two even hand your own handshake!
He loved that you got along with his best friend and was hoping you'd like his new friend too. He thought you'd be gal pals.
Boy was he wrong.
When you found out he told MJ that he was Spiderman, you nearly lost it.
You didn't trust her at all.
Eventually, he just gave up. He didn't know what else he could do.
When he asked Mr. Stark about his dilemma, Tony replied with a-
"Maybe she's jealous. Chicks are brutal, man. And very territorial. You should see Pepper's face if I even glance at another woman. Hoo! It's a bad day for there let me tell you."
Jealous? Why would be be jealous of MJ?
She's just a friend.
He doesn't get jealous when you hang out with Ned. He loves that you get along.
He decided to confront you about it.
Maaaybe... It was a bad idea...
You were livid.
You ending up saying things he know you didn't mean and saw the hurt on your face.
You probably didn't remember what you said.
But he did.
Yeah...
You were mad jealous.
And apparently MJ had feelings for him.
That's what the fight was about..
He didn't believe MJ had feelings for him so he went to talk to her.
A-also, really bad idea.
She ended up kissing him, but then immediately regretted it.
It wasn't deel it was just a quick peck.
She didn't mean to kiss him. Honest.
It just happened.
Then she looked behind Peter and went pale
There you were watching with tears in your eyes.
Hoo boy...This situation was getting worse by the second...
You avoided them like the plague.
Even in his Spiderman get up, he couldn't reach you.
MJ was avoiding him too.
He noticed a bruise on her cheek. You two had gotten into a fight and you both were pretty beat up.
He ranted to Ned about what he was going to do.
Ned she he had a choice. "Look, Peter. These two really pretty girls like you. You're going to have to choose one or the other. That's what this come down to."
Choose? As in romantically?
Obviously, it was you.
Yeah sure, maybe before you were dated he would've considered it.
But he was dating you, not MJ.
He cared about his friend, but loved you.
It had been a few weeks, but he had enough of giving you space.
Imagine his suprise, when he watched you and MJ swinging together on the tire swing laughing and smiling.
You were both covered in bruises and your lip was bust open, but you seemed relaxed.
When he approached you (very apprehensively) he thought he was seeing a hallucination or something.
You both stopped and looked up at him.
MJ nodded at you and stood up.
She put a hand on his shoulder and said, "Sorry about this whole thing. Take care of her? Okay. I'll see you at school."
And she was gone.
You finally opened up to him and told him everything both you and MJ said and did.
He finally understood.
MJ had felt so guilty that two days after your fight she knocked on your door apologizing and frantic.
It took a few hours, but eventually you reached an understanding of each other.
So for Peter's sake as well as yours, you two hung out for a few days to get to know each other.
Now you got along great and were finally, "Gal Pals" as Peter put it.
You and MJ asked him to stop saying that because it was weird.
You each had trust in each other and now you were a complete quartet of teenage idiots.
It was nice.

A NEW YEAR
A poor excuse to write something fluffy and not something heavily angsty as is usual when we are talking about Lucien.
1st time writing something about MLQC too, so please bare with me 🤣
I was planning this to be a drabble but I think I exceeded the words count... Anyway 👀
Couple: Lucien x MC
Words: 1552
Genre: this is an attempt of something fluffy.... Kind of...
I think I failed. English is not my main language so, I'm sorry if I have some inaccuracies or is grammatically weird
Tumblr media
The great hall was beautifully decorated with thousands of lights and Christmas ornaments. The enormous chandeliers offered golden reflections throughout the room offering a magical and celebratory atmosphere and the hundreds of people were happily chatting in small groups, drinking champagne and eating tiny and elaborate snacks offered by the waiters dressed in black.
The women in their beautiful long dresses and the men impeccably dressed in tuxedos. The scientific society in Lianyun had decided to organize a New Year's Eve benefit in favor of organizations against child trafficking and to sponsor some orphanages that were in a difficult economic position.
It certainly wasn't the way MC had planned to spend the new year, but Lucien was one of the guests of honor and it wasn't as if the two of them could simply pass it on and celebrate the arrival of the new year at home, plus it was a very noble cause and Lucien had agreed to it from the beginning.
From the other end of the beautiful room, MC, wrapped in a beautiful red dress that left her shoulders uncovered and that Lucien had given her just for the occasion, drank casually from her glass of Champagne while nodding slightly at what the group of women she was with were saying, while looking at Lucien, elegantly dressed in his tuxedo, who was exchanging a few words with some colleagues who seemed to be congratulating him on the latest achievements at his research center while he kept his characteristic expression of placidity.
He really looked handsome, thought MC, with his elegant but relaxed posture and his hair combed to the right side. He seemed to embody that classic elegance of classic movie stars that they both loved to watch so much.  Her cheeks were quickly colored, she sighed again and took a sip from her glass
"So you're a TV producer, right?" asked a woman in a green dress , giving her a condescending look.
To tell the truth, she didn't care about what the people said, they always judged her for her youth, they thought she was not capable of running a company like Miracle Entertainment.  However, she smiled gently at the woman, nodding sweetly
"That's right, I'm the president of Miracle Entertainment" the woman exchanged a meaningful look with the lady next to her.
How MC hated all that
"the producer of Miracle Finder, isn't it? That's where you met the young Professor Lucien," asked a young, friendly woman standing in front of her.
MC nodded slightly, crossing one of her arms over the other in a clear sign of her discomfort, even holding the glass of Champagne. The conversation was taking a turn towards her personal life, she did not like people she barely knew to know so much about her intimacy.
"So you're both very serious... when will the wedding take place?"
MC stared at the woman in green who was watching with great interest, the hand in which she was holding the glass. She had obviously noticed the stunning diamond ring on her left ring finger.
Doesn't this woman have anything else to do?  the young woman wondered.
"we want the wedding to be in the spring, something very small and private..." the woman in green, who MC knew was the wife of one of Lucien's colleagues, kept talking
"My daughter is a fervent admirer of his work and he has always been so polite and diligent with her we thought he would ask her to be his girlfriend..." the woman sighed "they would have made a wonderful couple" two of the women there looked at her in shock.
"Your daughter is a brilliant student, Mrs. Song, but her grades got much worse last semester, has she told you that she is no longer part of the research group?   Maybe if she had spent her time studying more and not flirting with her colleagues we would have a better concept of her". Lucien's soft, cadenced and deep voice was heard behind her, looking back in surprise and feeling relief for the first time in the middle of the night.
Mrs. Song blushed violently as Lucien smiled at her in a gesture that might seem like kindness but which MC knew perfectly, she knew he was enjoying the situation.
Lucien took her hand and apologized kindly to the ladies gathered there. They walked to the other end of the room which was not so crowded and the view of the gardens, beautifully lit with thousands of little lights and combined with the snow, was like coming out of a dream.
"I left you alone for a couple of minutes and that woman was already claiming me as her daughter's property" the young professor took her little hand to his lips and deposited a chaste kiss on the soft skin of the back of her hand.
"She is a tenacious woman" the pout on MC's lips made her look very adorable, despite her stunning dress and red lips "I felt it was better to let her talk"
She took the opportunity to lean against the wall, bringing her glass to her lips again as she looked into his eyes and drank the last of the Champagne she had left. His other hand, which was not occupied with hers, soon went to her cheek, caressing it lightly with the back of his fingers.
"at the expense of my good name in front of those women? " laughed the young man "it is unfortunate that my honor is not defended by my wife" he said while he had a funny glow in his eyes
MC blushed violently and looked down.  She still was not used to call herself his wife; they were not married yet, it was true that the wedding of both would be in spring but they were living together and sleeping in the same bed, so in very practical terms, she was his wife.
"stop teasing me!" Lucien laughed softly as he placed his hand on her head, stroking her chestnut hair and trying not to mess it up too much.
"you were too busy talking to your colleagues And I didn't want to make you look bad"
Lucien warmly squeezed her hand that he was holding. As if he wanted to tell her not to worry
"You could never make me look bad, in that case, maybe I'll be the one to make MC look bad if I do something wrong" the young woman frowned slightly while playing with the lapels of Lucien's tuxedo after having left her empty glass aside
"I doubt it... Professor Lucien knows a lot of things" MC looked at him with curiosity in his eyes "and speaking of knowing things, how did you know I needed help? You arrived just at the right time"
"You could say it's a sixth sense I have when it comes to MC?"
Lucien brought his hand back to her cheek, bringing his body dangerously close as he looked into her eyes, both of them could feel each other's rapid heartbeat
"something like Spiderman's spidey sense?"
Lucien's honest laugh made her smile placidly, she thought about how beautiful he was just smiling and how much she loved that man, how intense and overflowing that feeling was for him.
"You could say.  However, I want to think that I am a little more romantic so I could say that I knew because we are soulmates".
Soulmates, certainly romantic
His eyes were two beautiful galaxies in which she reflected herself; mysterious, deep and unfathomable.  It is as if they possessed all the love of the universe, all the love that was for her.
His face approached hers, stopping a few millimeters from her lips, both of them inebriated with desire for each other.  However, at this point, it mattered little to them to find themselves in a public place and surrounded by people.
The lips of both of them joined as if they were magnetically attracted, with the own urgency of two persons who desire each other passionately and with the tenderness of those who love intensely, he with one hand on her waist and other on her cheek, and she with her hands firmly leaned on his chest.
The movement of the people around them followed by the unmistakable sound of the fireworks made them slowly separate their lips and look through the glass of the huge French style window next to them.  Hundreds of fireworks covered the sky, turning it magenta, green and blue, purple and yellow.
MC watched with a big smile the beautiful spectacle outside, still hugging her fiancé.  The people around them laughed and took pictures while the music continued to play in the background.  Lucien surrounded her shoulders and kissed her head with love. He had just seen his watch, which shows that it was just midnight.
MC raised his head and smiled broadly at him.
"Happy New Year, Lucien"
Lucien smiled back at her, noticing how the colors of the fireworks outside reflected on her beautiful face.
"Happy New Year, my sweet butterfly.  May this year that begins by your side be filled with the brightest colors".

Mistaken Identity
Tumblr media
This is an entry from my eldest for my writing Bingo.
Mistaken Identity - ‘Parksborn’ + Peter x Eddie
“You’ve got to be kidding me!”
This was not what he wanted to see on the front page of the paper. Yes, at least it wasn’t his pictures of Spiderman being used to bash his image but Peter witnessing him and his best friend on the first page described as ‘lovers’ wasn’t any better. His images were still used on the 3rd page to ruin Spiderman’s reputation anyway. The two of them weren’t a thing, of course they weren’t. They were just friend’s that happened to be roommates. Peter had a girlfriend god dammit… that being in the past tense of course since they’d broken up the evening before. Peter had been away for too many evenings and MJ felt things wouldn’t work so they ended things on mutual terms. So how could he and Harry be dating? Oh, but what caught him even more off guard was the apparent anonymous witnesses. This was ridiculous. Who apparently saw the two guys kissing? They’d never kissed, not even in private!
There was another sense of panic that came to Peter with thoughts about this. No, it was not the fact people might start thinking Peter may be gay, he could deal with that. He wasn’t of course, he definitely preferred girls over guys, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t like men in that way at all. But it was the fact people might think Harry was gay. Including his father. Both boys didn’t think Norman Osborn would be the accepting type for something like that so if he found out then they were probably screwed. And not just getting their rent being paid cancelled. As the last line says, what could a scandal like this do?
The name beneath the image was of course recognisable to Pete. Edward Brock, or Eddie as he was better known, was basically his photographer rival at The Bugle. Of course he was going to find a way to ruin Peter and apparently taking Harry down too wasn’t an issue. That’s what pissed him off the most, the fact Eddie didn’t seem to care that this could destroy Harry’s life in a way just for an opportunity to get at Peter. Try to steal his job? Sure, he could go ahead, but this? This was too far. He had to do something about this and he was about to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey Eddie!” Peter seemed to call out almost instantly as he entered the room to see the rest of the workers at The Bugle looking over their own copies of the paper. Guess not everyone was aware of what would hit the front page either. Ted, Robbie and Betty were among these workers, the latter of the trio looking up from the page when noticing Peter's appearance at the workplace. “You wouldn’t mind explaining a few things to me?”
“Ah, Parker, I just wanted to congratulate you on coming out!” The amount of sarcasm in Eddie’s voice could be sensed from a mile away and the smirk plastered on his face just showed what he thought of the situation. He thought he won, destroyed Peter's esteem maybe and got him to back down. Boy was he wrong though. “Pulling Osborn is really impressive too, don’t mind me asking how for my own resea---”
Soon enough Eddie was pinned against the wall as Peter held him up. “He’s not my boyfriend Eds. He doesn't even swing that way. Do you know what this could do for him?” He wasn’t shouting at this time like he had been before but instead there was a growl in his voice. Eddie, on the other hand, actually looked confused. The anger? Somewhat expected. But it was more either something like ‘oh, you’ve ruined my relationship’ or rantings along that line. But apparently not. “This isn’t about me anymore, oh no, we’re way past that…”
“Pete, maybe you should calm down a bit,” Betty tried her best to intervene as she watched the boys, standing up from her desk and looking between the two. “It might be good if you could explain what’s going on from your point of view… especially since this is about you and your apparent boyfriend.”
“He isn’t… he isn’t my boyfriend…” Peter still held Ed up to the wall but eventually lowered him and let go as he thought about things. Of course he’d have to think of what to say, there was so much… or at least it felt like so much.
“We’ve been friends for years and are planning on starting something together once we finish college, that’s why we live together. Everything else though is a lie. We’re not dating, we’ve never kissed, and hell as I claimed he wouldn’t even swing my way. If it’s coming out now though, yes I'm bI but honestly I like women way better. But the whole of New York doesn't need to know my preference in a partner, nor Harry’s preference. Especially when framed like this! How much fake news do you have to put out there? First the whole spiderman being a menace and now this alleged ‘scandal’ happening according to you… Jesus, how many people do you have to put down before you’re satisfied?” Peter of course had to let things out about this as his glances occasionally went to Eddie but something he did notice was a few more confused looks back off of Peter. “What is it now Brock? Going to contradict me with something?”
“Well duh, I wouldn’t have claimed that you guys were dating without a bit of evidence… literally I was only taking the photo and giving the story idea because I was going to out you...” Eddie claimed which definitely caught Peter by surprise. There was a voice telling Pete that the other photographer was lying, how could he be telling the truth? “Like, congrats seriously this time on the actual coming out though, as a fellow bI I have to give you that… prefer men though so guess that makes us slightly different… but seriously, from hearing about people claiming to witness that Osborn guy kissing some other dude I just assumed it was you…?”
“What’s going on there, I don’t pay you lot to stand around doing nothing!” It appeared before Peter had another chance to question Brock that the head man himself, J. J. Jamison, had left the comforts of his office to go off at his workers. This of course got people back to work whilst Jamison laid his eyes upon the two photographers. “Ah, Parker, Brock, the two men I need to see. My office, now!” Seemed to be the simple words that left the man’s mouth, quick and sharp like usual as he returned to his office whilst expecting the boys to follow soon after to which they did. You don’t just piss off Jamison, he’d fire you in an instant… then probably rehire you unless you'd royally screwed yourself. An example for this could be the stunt Eddie pulled for the front page news. If he found out, his head was on the chopping block.
“Parker, I wanted to discuss this newest story about you and Osborn. At first I was going to fire you but then I thought it could be useful to get some information from the source itself of this relationship. Things like how long it’s been going, the father’s opinion, all of that. We’d be the best newspaper in New York with a scoop like this!” The part of Pete almost getting fired definitely concerned him for many reasons, even after it was glossed over and he didn’t end up fired. “Now though Parker, we can have Brock here take all your pictures as a happy couple… better yet, an unhappy couple! It’s more relatable and celebrity drama always attracts the masses”
“Well Sir, actually---” Peter had begun to speak, about to come out to the head in terms of the truth about how he and Harry weren’t a thing and how this was all a rumour created by Eddie to bring him down a notch… But then he noticed some pleading in Eddie’s eyes. This wasn’t acting, and he could tell. He dated an actor. This was Eddie actually begging him to not tell and even considering what something like this front page could do to Harry and himself, he also knew that if he told then not only would Ed get fired but there was a chance he’d never get a job again. So he decided on a compromise that may either ruin both of them or save both of them. “Brock was miss informed by his sources, his research was all correct but the man allegedly said to be kissing Mr Osborn and myself are not one in the same. Harry and I are just roommates but since there’s been numerous sources as proven by Brock, I could attempt to get the inside scoop on who this man is?”
The next few seconds were spent with Eddie and Peter just waiting to get thrashed at by Jamison but to their relief something else happened as a blessing it appeared. “Well why didn’t you say something sooner!?!? Parker, I want you to find out as much as you can about your roommate’s relationship. Brock, try to get a better description of this mystery man so we may be able to find him and print a follow up. In fact, I'll pay extra than usual for whoever can get me a perfect shot of these two men kissing. Extra pay and a small cheese basket for christmas as a bonus. Now what are you doing I said go!” Jamieson seemed to go one as he gestured for the two photographers to get out of his sight, which both gladly and swiftly moved to do.
Soon enough from this exchange, Eddie and Peter found themselves outside of The Bugle together and sighing as an awkward silence formed only broken with the city life roaring around them. Can’t really have silence in the streets of New York. The silence between the men though happened to be broken by Eddie’s voice as he took a quick glance to Peter before gazing back at the floor with a quiet “Thanks Parker… You’re a real lifesaver…”
“This is a one time thing Eddie…” Peter reasoned, stilled sounding a little ticked off at the whole incident. There was of course something he had to figure out. Who is this person who’s apparently kissing his best friend? Or even better, who are these two people that people think are him and Harry? It can’t actually be Harry right? Of course it can’t be, he would know if it is. “Especially if you pull another stunt like that again…”
“Don’t worry man, I went too far, I get it… was just.. Jealous, you know?” Eddie raised his hands in defence as he took a step away from Peter. The confession had Peter raising an eyebrow in this moment though, ever expecting a guy like Edward Brock to apologize for anything. Especially this. “It’s just you seem so popular, you know? Everyone at The Bugle loves you, I bet even Jamison though he doesn't say it. Then apparently you’re best mates with Spiderman or something where he’ll just pose for you without any argument whilst he avoids me all the time… and then… Well I heard the rumours and saw you with that Harry guy so I just assumed I shouldn’t have. It was kind of like the final point you know? I thought you had this perfect relationship and I wish I had something like that but like… obviously I don’t so maybe if I outed both of you it would do something and i’d feel better…”
“I'm guessing you feel like a lemon or something now?” Peter added on in a slight joking tone only to see the look on Eddie's face. He actually looked kind of hurt. He really did think Peter and Harry had this perfect thing and he just felt jealous over everything Peter had. Guilt filled the brunette slightly as he thought about the circumstances. He had been the one to come off as cold to Eddie first, not vice versa. This was both as spiderman and as himself. “I forgive you Eds… This is all stupid anyway, we’re supposed to be working together at The Bugle, not competing. Jesus, to be honest I'm sorry for acting so arrogant. I understand wanting some perfect relationship, it was me all the way through school until I got with MJ. Even then things don’t work out though… she dumped my ass yesterday…” With that sentence it seemed it may be cheering Eddie up a bit because a genuine laugh escaped the taller man. This put a small smile on Pete’s face as he thought of a few more words for the other guy. “Some point you’ll find the perfect girl… or guy. Us bisexuals gotta stick together or something right?”
“Couldn’t have said things any better myself Pete…” Eddie seemed to turn his eyes to look at the shorter brunette in front of him as he ran a hand through his dirty blonde locks. A small smile tugged his lips as he ended up wrapping his arms around Pete, just really needing a hug at the present moment. It may have taken a few seconds but eventually Peter was also hugging the taller man back. “If we’re going to have a rivalry then it’s going to be a healthy one. The only destroying of each other being by playful banter… how about it?”
“That would be perfect Eds.” Peter couldn’t help but chuckle a bit himself as the two soon separated from the hug. As silence took over them again, leaving only the city life, Pete came up with something else he needed. “I was just thinking since you’re seeing those witnesses again about the guy kissing Harry, maybe we could have a talk about it over a coffee some time?”
Eddie actually didn’t expect the offer but soon enough his smile turned to a playful smirk as he got his phone out. “Wouldn’t mind me getting your number first parker? I know we just made up but you don’t have to start coming onto me like that…” Of course he was going to start making jokes about this but to hell were the two got going to have some fun with this new found ‘friendship’ between them.
Peter gave an eye roll but kept coming out with a few laughs at the teasing, getting his own phone out to exchange numbers. “Better not accidentally butt dial me a bunch of times now that you have my number because I will block you if it happens at least three times…”
“For you it’s probably a Booty call love.” Eddie cemented his win with a wink at the brunette, slipping his phone into his pocket once the exchange was done. And from Peter’s now red face, it was definitely a win for Mr Edward Brock Jr. Soon enough though he passed Pete and began to walk away, parting with just a few more words. “Will message you any details I get later… but I'll only send mine if you send yours. Later Parker.”
Peter was still taking in a few of the other words from before but of course watched Eddie walk away, a small shake of his head at the dirty blonde’s parting words. “Talk later then Brock… talk later…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If he thought that heading back to the apartment to question Harry couldn’t get any worse than Peter was definitely wrong. When noticing the amount of looks he was getting off people as he walked the streets there was a temptation to duck into an alley and change into spiderman just to go the rest of the way home. Hell, he looked around to see if there was anywhere he could sneak into so he could quickly get changed but of course with not looking where you’re going there is the chance you’d bump right into someone, especially if you’re the clumsy Peter Parker. Thus, just as the brunette turned to face the front, he’d ended up knocked down by another man. Just his luck to get decked in one way or another.
“So sorry about that man,” The guy appeared to say whilst the girls he happened to be with stopped walking, one of the blondes offering a hand to help pull Peter off the floor. When Pete stood up again he could of course recognise the group. The man who had knocked him down happened to bet his boss’s son, one John Jamison or as his father seemed to call him more as if to brag ‘My son, the astronaut.’ One of the two blondes in the group being the one to have helped him to his feet was a girl known as Ursual Ditkovich, knowing the girl from when he and Harry were looking for apartments before Norman offered to pay for their living space. She was nice enough to bake and offer out cookies for the boy’s but her father seemed to be too focused on getting the rent any occasion he could. The apartment really wasn’t worth as much as he was pricing it, especially with a broken door. Eyes moving to the lighter haired blonde was a girl from his class with Dr Connor’s, Gwen Stacy, who'd worked on a few projects with him or he would help her sometimes when it came to the harder work. That and he’d saved her a few occasions as Spiderman of course. Then was the final girl in the group and obviously Pete would recognise those fiery red locks in an instant. It was MJ.
“Oh Pete! Didn’t recognise you for a moment!” Ursula was of course the first to say anything when noticning who’d they’d take out, a small smile forming on her face. The only other person with a smile on their face at this moment seemed to be John but his was a slight more awkward as he looked at Peter. “I heard what people were saying then saw the paper. Is it really true what’s happening between you and Harry? My father is going on about how he called it from the start so it’s mostly he wants it confirmed… sorry if I'm coming off as a bit intrusive on things…”
“No… Intrusive is good…” MJ cutted in at the end as she crossed her arms and looked Peter dead in the eyes. Yes, they’d both ended on good terms the other evening but with this newfound information she was reasonably pissed at him. She’d spend many nights alone when he’d agreed to come over, wanted for him to show up to many dates only to have him late or blow her off completely and then you had him miss out on seeing a few of her shows. Pieced together with this morning’s main headline then it was obvious what had been happening for months now. “You want to explain everything now after the fact?”
“MJ, it’s not what you think. Honestly…” Peter let go of Ursual’s hand as he brushed it through his hair, his teeth clutching to his bottom lip slightly as he thought of the best way to explain things. It was definitely easier to disprove and go off about this stuff to a bunch of people at work but your ex and friends? That’s a different story. “Me and Harry haven’t done anything together. The whole thing’s a massive misunderstandi---”
“Then where were you last week on Tuesday when you’d apparently promised to take her out on a date?” Gwen happened to come into thing’s as she backed up MJ’s court. Ever since Peter had introduced the two of them it appeared as if they’d instantly become besties and now was proving it. “Apparently you told her that you had to go to a surprise lecture by Dr Connors but both of us know he was ill sunday till thursday the other week so how would that work?” Shoot, he did tell her that, didn’t he? The honest answer was that he’d been stopping a robbery and hostage situation as Spiderman downtown and was there instead but could he tell MJ that? Of course he couldn’t. He couldn’t tell anyone of his identity.
“Don’t worry, we’re not trying to come at you because of who you like and stuff dude, it’s not my thing really but I support it, love who you love, you know?” John ended up adding in incase things were taken the wrong way on Peter's behalf, honestly being really understanding on how Peter was most likely relieved with the break up because he didn’t swing MJ’s way anymore. “But it’s just a little bit of an asshole move to juggle around two people like that, especially if you’re close friends. Why didn’t you just say something sooner?”
“Because, geez, I'm not gay. Guess I'm having to come out to a lot of people today about this but I bi, I still like women way more though MJ. I wasn’t not there because I didn’t love you and I wasn't cheating!” Peter tried his best to explain once again, messing himself up there with a double negative to twist his tongue. He was trying his best in all honesty but it felt like MJ wasn’t taking it as she moved her eyes away from the brunette, turning as she prepared to leave.
“Well at least you’ve been honest about something… and I hope you and Harry enjoy being together… tell him I said hi…” Mary Jane ended up finishing as she took a few steps away, the others turning to follow. This was swiftly stopped by Peter’s words sounding out to them though.
“MJ… I'm not the best, and you deserve way better than me. Someone who can be there for you… and I can’t be there for you. Yes, i’ve been lying about where i’ve been but I'm not lying when I tell you there’s nothing between me and Harry…” Peter didn’t want to come out about being spiderman, especially not in a public place like this. Now would be the worst time… but he had to, didn’t he? Maybe not… “The reason I've not been there and haven’t been truthful is because… because I've taken pictures of spiderman. And I know you know I do this but I just haven’t wanted to tell you every time because I knew you’d get worried about me. I can’t stay away from the dangoure every time when trying to get a good shot and if you don’t believe I'm there then just compare the dates and times said in the newspaper for spiderman with my photo… or sometimes eddie’s… last Tuesday at 3:50pm spiderman stopped a bank robbery. What’s on the front page? A picture taken by me… so yes i’ve been lying but I swear that’s the only thing i’ve been lying about. I don’t want things to be strained between us so know that I loved you MJ and would have never cheated like that. Especially with someone we’re both close to…”
As before, there was silence between the group or as silent as you could get in the open like this. MJ was the first to stop walking as she stopped still in her tacks, taking in what her ex had to tell her. Even before they’d broken up she’d felt Peter might have been cheating but the sound in Peter's voice right now just hit her. She could trust it. She could trust he was being completely honest with her and even if he didn’t specify that he was spiderman, none of what he said was a lie. Everytime he wasn’t there he was taking a picture of himself as he was close to danger and didn’t tell her because she’d worry. It was honesty. Her turn back to him was slow and still it hadn’t been whole as she looked to the brunette man. “...I trust you… but… I wished you’d told me sooner.” She’d turned away once more, about to step away before ending with “Just at least call me up later though… I need to take it all in and maybe having you run through things would be easier… promise me…?”
“I promise…” Pete’s voice was quiet but could still be heard as MJ finally let a small yet weak smile form on her face, nodding whilst she began to walk again. This was followed by a small wave from Gwen, still being suspicious of the circumstances, a thumbs up from John as he walked behind the girls and some parting words from Ursual.
“I'm sure things will be alright between you and Mary Jane but… Well done for coming out like that. I'm sorry it was over stressful circumstances but… just know you’re valid no matter Pete. Hopefully see you around some tim---” Midway through her words it appeared Peter’s phone began to go off, startling the girl a bit as she stopped talking and looked at the man’s pocket. “You should probably take that… but good luck with hopefully sorting things out with the paper if you’re going to try to fix it.”
Peter let himself give off a weak smile at the girl whilst he waved, his other hand moving to his pocket to fetch his phone as he turned to head off to the apartment again. Upon seeing who was calling he noticed it was Eddie. Did he really sort things so soon? He answered as he decided he’d continue the rest of the way on foot. It wasn’t that far and if he was going to be on call with Eddie then it might be better to do it as just Peter and not Spiderman. “Hey Eds, what’s up?”
“Well Parker, guess I got you some good news and some bad news. Or at least the bad news being news to prove you wrong on that Osborn guy you hang around.” Eddie went right into the news then, or at least stayed on topic as he messed around on what he may or may not have discovered on his end with this mystery. “So which you want first Petey?”
“Don’t call me that please…” Peter shook his head as he took a short cut down an alley he’d finally found, keeping the phone close to his ear before thinking a bit about what the other photographer had to say. “What do you mean it’s going to prove me wrong about Harry? We’ve known each other for years, he’s my best friend and we know everything about each other…” That was definitely a lie, Harry had no idea about Peter being spiderman. Of course it wasn’t farfetch for Pete to not know everything about Harry.
“Well Petey,” If they were talking in person Peter could just see the smirk creeping onto Ed's face in this moment. He wasn’t going to stop with the new nickname. “It seems that you want the bad news first. Sorry to burst your bubble but your best mate isn’t the completely heterosexal dude you think he is. Definitely was the main guy everyone saw in this sheared kiss, happened in a coffee shop downtown in the light of day. You can blame me on assuming the other guy was you again since I never asked for a description until now. Fair play though you are strong and your hair looks black in certain lighting, but to hell with looking like you could lift weights… definitely not you. Not to say I wouldn’t appreciate you giving me a few piggyback rides, then you might not need any flagpoles to get picks of your guy spiderman.”
Peter stayed silent as he stopped still just outside the alley. “but… no… people were thinking it was me so obviously they just assumed the other guy was Harry right? It’s not actually him, you’re kidding me Ed… seriously?”
“As I said, I was the only one who thought it was you cause I wasn't there but the place let me look over some security footage and that’s definitely your best mate… mate.” Eddie began to reason with the brunette over the phone, just wanting to help him out with this mystery. Somehow even with the drama to come from it between the two, they were definitely getting along better than usual. He could see it now, forget Sherlock and John Watson, it’s Eddie Brock and his side man Petey Parker. “Oh, but i’ve also got the name of the other guy, don’t know if you might know him or not…”
“You have to tell me who it i---” Peter was invested now but couldn’t help being betrayed slightly. If it really was Harry, as in definitely his best friend Harry Osborn then why didn’t he tell him he had a boyfriend or something? He was interrupted in his line of questioning though when he was almost hit by a familiar looking car, having to jump out the way quickly. Thank god for his spider sense. “Sorry!” Pete called to the driver as the vehicle continued before he managed to recognise it and realised exactly where it was heading. “Oh no… might have to call you back Eddie…”
“What do you mean? You need back up on something cause I'm your man for the job.” Eddie claimed on the other line as he started to sound concerned for the other guy, that or concerned about the fact he might be missing out on getting some great shots of spiderman. Maybe a mix of the two.
“No, just know that the daddy issues have dropped by and we might be in for a few problems…” Peter was slightly quieter as he spoke about to hang up.
“Awww, we?”
“As in me and Harry… I'll update you once things have gone down.”
“Ah okay then Parker. Love you.”
“Love you t--- wait a second”
“Caught you out there didn’t I? But seriously, s---”
With that small exchange Peter hung up, slightly red in the face, using one hand to massaurse in between his eyes and continuing back to his apartment just awaiting the screaming match that could go down, all for different reasons. But there was still one thing on his mind. Who was this guy and why wouldn’t Harry say anything?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaching the apartment complex, Peter saw the car finally park up outside. He didn’t have time to sneak into the place without Norman noticing so either he was going to get stopped by the older man or walk in on Harry getting absolutely chewed up. Even with feeling betrayed by Harry in this moment though, he didn’t think he deserved to get completely bashed. As his Uncle Ben would say ‘With great power comes great responsibility’ which is why just before Mr Osborn himself could leave the vehicle, Pete stepped forward and started to move towards the door. Just like he’d thought though, he was stopped before he could enter as he heard the voice of man call out for him. “Ah, Peter, just the guy I wanted to see.” The voice seemed extremely smooth and relaxed, putting the young Parker off slightly. Of course he was going to start off all nice and fatherly or something, they were still outside and people would automatically bash the older gentleman if he started going at the guy right here and now. Once Peter had slowly turned around to face the man though he was slightly surprised at things. Norman appeared to be dressed a bit more casual than he usually would be for something like a routine apartment inspection that he’d usually do. Had he not been to work that day? Peter didn’t really know the man to take days off… like… ever. The guy appeared like a complete workaholic so things continued to put him more off, feeling for the worst of the man in the black button up. Then came an item in his hands… Was that a bottle of wine? That threw a spanner in the works as he continued to look Norman up and down in silence. Of course this was quickly noticed as Norman spoke up again. “I doubted it would be too much to drop by like this unexpectedly.”
“Um… yeah, no, it’s fine. I just got back from work anyway and...um…?” Peter was making a fool of himself right down as he stayed put, looking for any words he could use. Apparently they didn’t feel like forming. Inevitably he had to ask the dreaded question so he thought he’d get things out of the way as soon as he could then maybe turn the man away before things got out of hand. “You didn’t… happen to read the paper this morning?”
“Parker, it was impossible to avoid it when I'm having different members of the board calling me up to question it.” The answer happened to be a yes then, he’d definitely seen it. Guess he was going to have to explain this as quickly as he could with more lying than before. Just tell him Harry hasn’t kissed anyone, they’re both straight, then get him to leave. Pete didn’t even get a chance to open his mouth before Norman continued though. “That’s why I took the day off, it just gets unbearable having others question your son’s sexuality every second and just uncivilised for this age. We’re supposed to be more mature than this but apparently it has to be everyone’s business on who someone is dating. I’m mostly disappointed in your place of work. I have to admit. They can slander me all they want though I may not take kindly to that of course, but dragging Harry into this? That’s too far for me.”
Peter had to pause for a second to listen to part of the ranting of the older gentleman, expecting him to go off about how it was wrong what he and Harry were doing - said to be doing. Rather he was more pissed at the media but managing to keep up a calm facade. Inside, of course, he was probably going to do something to the editors who approved of publishing this and especially Jamison. Maybe even that Eddie guy who took the main image to apparently support the claims. That was going to be a problem Spiderman will have to deal with some other time. “Wait, so you’re not pissed with us?”
“Why would I have a problem with you two? Harry’s my son and even if I seem distant I love him… And Harry loves you, it’s obvious. Of course it’s obvious to you, you’re dating!” Norman was definerty averting Peter’s expectations, hell, when Harry finds out about this he was probably going to flip. Just like how Peter was internally flipping about everything he’s learning about a guy he’s seen as a brother for years and a man he sees as a father. “I’m honestly happy the two of you realised things early unlike myself, which is another reason I've taken the day off to visit. A time for us to all come out and maybe make a celebration of it. As you’ve noticed I've brought a bottle as a present for the occasion.”
There wasn’t anything he could really say, nothing at all. Peter was still wrapping things around his brain. Norman was acting as if Harry and Peter being in a relationship was an obvious thing to people even though for the fiftieth time they weren’t a thing. That was only the start of course. If the brunette’s ears were working properly, did the older man just say ‘all come out’ or was it just him? Was he seriously suggesting what he was suggesting? Wow… Peter felt like he himself was coming off as more prejudiced than Norman in this moment but that’s because he couldn’t see any of this. They didn’t act like they could really b--- no Peter, that’s assuming based on stereotypes. The whole thing is supposed to be verbatim. If you like the same gender then you’re homo, if you like the oppisit then you’re hetero, it’s not hard to understand and there’s not any specific criteria you have to meet. Thanks to his dumbass explaining this to himself now and standing around like an idiot though, it had definitely concerned Norman slightly.
“Right then Parker, are you going to show me in or do you need a moment?” Norman seemed to chuckle a bit as he looked to the younger boy standing by his side. Peter did end up coming to the situation a few seconds after and gave a few quick nods as he started to open the door for the two of them to go in. He knew he should have just explained the situation then and there but maybe with Norman in the room he could get Harry to explain what’s actually going on to him. To both of them. Thus, once getting out of the elevator and reaching the door of the apartment, there was a few seconds of hesitation on Peter’s behalf to open the door. Soon enough of course, he’d reached for the handle and held out the door to allow the other man through first.
Upon entering the apartment it could be seen that Harry hadn’t been able to get anything done. Yes, some of his collage work was strewn across the table but it was barely touched as the newspaper lay out on top of it. Harry himself could be seen sitting on the staircase as he talked into the phone, his last few words having been “Shit, call you up later, don’t worry though.” before hanging up, definitely somewhat whispered into the phone in his best attempts to keep his father and roommate hearing. Too bad the two have amazing hearing because on both ends the suspicions went up. Nevertheless Harry stood from his place on the stairs and moved around to see exactly who’d arrived, freezing a bit at the sight of his dad and having a similar reaction to Peter outside. The young Osborn, on the other hand, was quicker than Peter when it came to the denial as instead of greeting the two back he’d gone straight into “Whatever you heard it’s completely wrong, a hoax even. Me and Peter are both completely into women, just women, and that’s in. Peter has a girlfriend too as proof if you don’t believe me…”
Norman had to take a few seconds to just look at his son as he placed the bottle of wine on the kitchen table, then looking back to Pete before glancing between the two. “You don’t sound sure at all of that Harry.” He openly observed as he could easily tell from the pace his son talked that there was definitely something bothering him. And from how Peter was acting before, it of course wasn’t hard for the older man to place two and two together. “I completely approve of things if that’s what you’re worrying about, I could see when you may think I wouldn’t be. I haven’t always been there for you… I know that. Not the type of father you could really come to for something like this. But just know i’m here now and i accept things, okay? Opposed to what the paper say, who you date will not affect the company in any way. I’ll make sure of that. So if it’s anything like that you can relax yourself, both of you, and maybe get changed. I took the day off and I'm going to make the most out of that by taking the two of you out for dinner, just the three of us. Have a gay evening in both of the terms.”
Once more like Peter before, Harry fell into complete silence at his father’s words and tried to take in the whole meaning of this. Of course you had the fact he was still assuming the two of them were dating which would need to be corrected again, but he approved? He was actually accepting of the prospect that his son liked men? The processing period seemed to take a while on his behalf, so much so that Peter was the first to speak up again with a small “Never say that again… please…” in reference to the small ending sentence. It wasn’t the best. “And you really don’t need to do that…”
“Of course I do. I will agree it’s the worst thing to be outed by the media which of course I can’t relate to since I myself haven’t had my love life displayed to the public in such a way, but I’m at least proud to see the two of you haven’t taken things too hard… assuming Harry hasn’t been locked in the apartment the whole day of course?” Norman raised an eyebrow at his son as he crossed his arms a bit, hoping the outcome wasn’t going to be a yes but easily telling it most likely would end that way.
“What Pete’s trying to say,” Harry seemed to avoid the question, something he always seemed to be great at doing, but rather coming back to the main issue Peter and himself were having. “Is that we’re not dating. I understand where they get the idea from but the two of us have never done anything together. And I wasn't lying that Peter has a girlfriend either, MJ. Is she doing okay with the news?”
“We broke up last night for different reasons actually, don’t worry about it… though I’m pretty sure her and Gwen almost killed me over the paper… managed to explain well enough but will need to phone her up later…” Pete added with a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his head as he looked to Harry for a moment or two then toward Norman. “But yeah, the media took a couple of things out of context and… well… now it seems the whole of New York assumes we’re dating?”
“Wait… so neither of you are actually homosexual?” Norman raised an eyebrow at the boys whilst he lay the bottle of wine down on the kitchen side, appearing somewhat disappointed but accepting of this fact. “Well i’m sorry for assuming, guess the media can also get to an old man like myself. Can’t blame me though, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I felt a strong connection between the two of you. Guess it is just as brothers then. At least we can celebrate for one of us coming out, still take you boys out for dinner as a present to myself.”
“Mr Osborn… um… I actually don’t think you’re off about a few things…” Peter beginned to continue as Harry looked somewhat unsure of the situation. He didn’t know right? Peter probably assumed the kissing thing was all a rumour… didn’t he? “I, myself, am a bisexual… first it was only Aunt May knowing and i’d thought she’d be the easiest to come out to but as today appares to keep proving, guess i’ve been wrong… and guess i’ve been wrong about Harry.” The smaller of the brunettes didn;t look at the other but kept his eyes on the older Osborns. “You want to come clean about who you were snogging or are we just going to leave it at some mystery man?”
“Peter, you don’t actually think i’ve gone out kissing different men right?” Harry let a nervous laugh out as he tensed a bit on getting caught out. As for leaning on his best friend’s and even his father’s own views, he wasn’t avoiding things to stop himself from coming out. No… it was to stop on coming out about who he was seeing since he felt that may cause more problems. So the best way to avoid this question? Avoid coming out all together.
“Harry, they have witnesses. Actual witnesses. That part wasn’t a lie. And apparently none of them had claimed it was me specifically you were with, that was assumed by Eds…” Peter sighed whilst Norman looked between the boys, invested in these discoveries. It was a mystery that would hopefully be revealed soon… but not without a few more misunderstandings.
“I’d like to quickly clarify that this Eds refers to Edward Brock, or is he perhaps a partner of yours? Not to say they aren’t mutually exclusive.” Norman began to point out as he leaned back against the counter, causing Peter to go slightly red as he avoided Norman’s gase by moving his own to Harry.
“First, as i said earlier i’d only broke up with MJ last evening… second is the fact we’re, being me and Eddie, rivals…” Peter did end up clarifying but only got a smirk and nod from Norman as if he knew something the younger men didn’t. To be honest he probably did know a lot the two didn’t. “But Harry… It’s completely fine if you like guys, i mean i feel we’ve been discussing that side of things ever since we got inside… and i even understand the whole you not coming out thing.. But why won’t you tell us who this guy i--” Before Pete could finish his sentence his phone seemed to vibrate in his pocket. He was not going to check the message at first but eventually decided to take a peak before he continued. And did the reasoning for Harry avoiding discussing this in front of Pete make sense as he read the short message from Eddie.
‘Hey Petey ~ Forgot to tell you before you hung up that guy’s name. It’s Eugene Thompson, or Flash as he’s apparently better known. No idea if this will mean anything to you but hope it helps xxx’
“Him!” Peter immediately looked to Harry once reading the message and it was obvious to Harry that Pete had just found out. God dammit Eddie and dramatic timing. But Harry was dating, or a least kissing, their bully from high school? Forget that, it was MJ’s ex boyfriend too. Since when? When did they even start hanging out, they hated each other in school. “Just… okay, i’m not mad, i understand not telling me now.. But… why?”
“Wait a moment, who do you mean with ‘Him’ if you’d both be willing to allabirat…” Norman was definitely invested if he hadn’t been before, slightly hypocritical to his saying before that people shouldn’t really care too much on who his son is dating. Guess he was the only exception to this.
“Flash Thompson… That’s the guy I've been seeing the last few months.” Harry finally threw in the towel as he crossed his arms and looked to the floor, slightly dejected. “Pete, I honestly didn’t think i’d ever like the guy but… geez… whilst you and my father were talking at graduation i witnessed his and MJ’s break up and i kind of felt for the guy. It was weird. I kind of went up to him and at first he thought I'd come to gloat about MJ leaving him but somehow the conversation ended up as me offering to get coffee with him sometime to talk. Use the occasion of leaving school as a way to start over. Act like adults instead of a bunch of kids. After the first meet up we learned we surprisingly had a lot in common and then we just kept seeing each other more and more after that. He asks about you, you know? Keeps apologising for things that happened and honestly hoped you and MJ were doing better than he had with her. I think it might have been four or five months back that he may have came out to be, Bisexual. And if you’re going to keep insisting to know then yes… I’m gay, no big deal.. No need for a special dinner… I didn’t want to tell you cause I felt you’d flip… but also just because i felt i might be able to not tell people things for once. It’s usually ‘don't tell Harry this’ or ‘don't tell Harry that’ or something, isn’t it? Flash didn’t keep things from me...”
Silence filled the room, and unlike out on the streets it was actual silence this time. Just two men staring at the third. Peter felt a twinge of guilt in himself. Harry wasn’t wrong. On so many occasions things were being kept from Harry, and he really did deserve someone who wouldn’t keep anything from him. And the way he went about talking with Flash. ‘Act like adults’ as he put it. Peter should have tried that himself but even if he was smart, he also had the ability to be a complete dumbass. “Harry… I completely understand… and if Flash or Eugene or whatever he’s getting called nowadays makes you happy then i’m here for you… you’re like a brother to me, so i’ll be a brother to you…”
With this, Peter wrapped his arms around Harry and brought him into an embrace which the other man hadn’t expected. This didn’t stop him from returning the hug of course as his own arms came over Peter's shoulders and held him close. This was followed by a third pair of arms, of course having to be Norman, as he held onto his boys. He could keep his inner demons down for now. For his sons. The hug may have not lasted long but felt like hours before they separated, a smile finally coming to Harry’s face and a genuine one at that. “I know you said no special dinner… but please Harry, let me treat you. All of you. Invite over this Flash guy whilst Parker hears invite’s Brock.” Norman offered once more to which eventually Harry nodded his head with a small laugh.
“I’ve already said, me and Eddie aren’t a thing…” Peter was red as he defended himself, beginning a facepalm after an eye roll before feeling Harry put an arm around him.
“Even if you’re not I think he probably wants to see the truth he’s been helping you look for?” Harry raised an eyebrow to Peter before both boys ended up laughing whilst Norman excused himself from the room, moving out to the hallway. “Caused this mess as well so maybe he can see things come to an end. Both seemed to be getting along with our so called rivals lately, don’t we Pete?”
“Okay, okay... '' Peter finally agreed himself to the proposal at hand, shrugging Harry’s arm off of himself as his laughter still continued onwards. “Guess after this morning me and Eds have decided to act like adults… You better not say anything embarrassing about me though. It’s healthy but still a rivalry. We’re not you and Flash, but who knows what the future holds.”
