Jd Pardo became a producer and now EZ has this meteoric rise from Prospect in Season 1 to VP by season 4.

They’ve destroyed Bishop… not to mention Taza.

They’ve run Richy off the show and had to off Coco with no story and no respect.

It doesn’t feel like there is an actual storyline at all.

I miss Kurt Sutter, I miss his storyline’s and his version of these characters.

I feel like this is more than a headcanon, but not quite a full fic? I opened a word doc to write up a little somethin'-somethin' for Prospect!Nestor and this is what came out. Hope you enjoy!

Ficlet under the cut 🖤

Walking into the clubhouse, you immediately notice how empty it is. None of the Santo Padre guys are hanging around, but what’s more noticeable is the fact that there aren’t any of the men from the other charters, either. You were starting to wonder if Yuma was going to take up permanent residence in the clubhouse.

You were walking around the back of the bar when the door to the back room swung open. You stopped in your tracks, and when his eyes lifted from looking down at the box he was carrying, he stopped too. His expression was neutral, almost painfully so. You wondered what he was thinking. Not about you, necessarily, but about any of it. It was such a messy time to be brought into the fold of the club, and not for nothing, he didn’t seem like the type of man who would typically prospect for Santo Padre. The guys never took it easy on him, which was par for the course for a prospect, but this felt different to you. You watched the interactions between him and the men from the home charter, and something about the instigating felt a little more intense, more personal maybe? You weren’t sure how to explain it. But he took it all on the chin and just kept it moving.

You shifted, stepping to the side so that he could walk by you with the case of beer that was in his hands. He nodding in acknowledgment before setting it down and ripping the top open with ease. He didn’t spare another look in your direction as he started unpacking the beers inside, getting them all situated in the cooler.

Reaching in, he pulled out a bottle that had been in there for awhile already. Turning back to you, he didn’t say anything, but his eyebrows lifted slightly as he held the bottle out to you. You huffed out a quiet laugh as you nodded, taking the bottle from him.

“Thanks,” you plucked the bottle opener up and popped the top off, immediately tossing it into the garbage. He watched you, but he still didn’t say anything, just giving you another nod in acknowledgment of your thanks before getting back to work. You watched him silently for a couple minutes, not interrupting his flow. But eventually the silence was getting to you, “Nestor, right?”

He looked up at you, brows knitting slightly in confusion. You laughed, “Your name. I don’t…I’m not a fan of just calling the prospects ‘Prospect’. I’ve never liked it.”

Recognition flashed across his face as he nodded, and he finally spoke, “Yea. Nestor.”

“Hope you don’t mind me saying,” you toyed with the bottle in your hands, “but you don’t really seem like the kind of guy who would prospect here, Nestor.”

He shrugged, “Well, I am.”

You laughed, nodding, “Yea, I see that. Why, though?”

“Why?”

“Yea, why? A lot of these guys came here because they didn’t have anything else, or they were looking for something that they couldn’t find and ended up here. You just don’t seem to have that vibe going on, though. You don’t seem like the kind of guy who runs out of options.”

His eyes were focused back on the shelves behind the bar as he stacked glasses away, “Alvarez.”

“Marcus asked you to prospect?” you waited for his response, and were met with yet another nod as he dried and stacked another cup. He wasn’t looking at you, but it didn’t stop you from nodding your head slowly, “Alright. I guess that makes a little more sense. If Marcus asked me to do something, I wouldn’t want to say no either.”

You still couldn’t see his face, but the sound that he made almost sounded something like a chuckle. You smiled to yourself, taking it as a win. A win for what? You weren’t sure. Maybe just him seeming a little more human.

You were going to follow up with another question when the Templo door slid open and the guys all came flooding out. Their boots hardly hit the wood of the clubhouse floor before they were yelling at Nestor to start getting their drinks ready.

“Let’s fucking go, Prospect,” Angel walked up and leaned against the edge of the bar, “Get some fuckin’ beers ready. Jesus.”

You rolled your eyes, knowing that even if the guys saw it, they weren’t going to say anything to you. You didn’t feel like sticking around and listening to the bullshit, so you finished off your beer and promptly tossed the bottle into the garbage.

“Later, Nestor,” you said it quietly enough for him to hear, but not so loud that the rest of the guys would invite themselves into the conversation.

It got him to look over at you as he popped the caps off a few bottles, “Later.”

Okay, okay, so this isn't so much a headcanon as it is something I think would be hysterical if they did it in the show. But I was talking to @garbinge about it and I've been thinking about it ever since 😂

So we haven't gotten a ton of Nestor this season. And like, I get it because there's a lot of moving parts. But the selfish part of me wants him to be playing a much bigger role than he has been even though he's just a prospect at this point.

But I think it would be so fucking funny if at the end of the episodes, they just show him doing like, bullshit, menial prospect tasks. Like every time there's a brawl at the clubhouse at the end of the episode it shows him sweeping and cleaning up for the fortieth time that week. Or him finally getting the place in order and being relieved that it's done and then some other bullshit breaks out and he just drops his head and sighs because not this again I just fucking cleaned.

While all of us are trying to catch our breath from the chaos and the absolute insanity of all these other guys, we get to see Nestor fucking around in the yard tinkering around with everything. Honestly when the guys are off and running and leave him behind with a laundry list of things to do, it's the most peace that he ever has these days 😂
