a/n: hehe welcome to my first official post! i guess the other two were just timestamps to kinda get a feel for tumblr lol. let me know what you guys think! the comments/reblog tags are so cute and i keep rereading them <3

you had never expected that you would spend your friday night running away from daily mail.

quite frankly, you didn’t expect that you would be running at all on a friday night, much less from tabloids. you prided yourself on how lowkey you lived your life. you made few, but diehard, friends. you had no enemies. you had a well-paying, stable job and you were working towards buying your own apartment soon. but for all of your attempts to stay absolutely average, your superstar boyfriend had to go become famous and propel you to stardom with him.

“oh my god, jaemin, if i have to work out every time we go on a date, i’m literally never seeing you in person again,” you gasp as your boyfriend tugs on your arm to make you run faster - as if that would mean that you would lose your paparazzi trail.

you still don’t know how you ended up like this in the first place. pulling na jaemin, the center of nct dream, was a small miracle in itself. but regardless, you were well seasoned veterans of the dating scheme now. after dating for three years, the two of you were really good at hiding from the public about your relationship.

it definitely helped that you were a run of the mill citizen (as opposed to, say, a world renowned singer) and the fact that jaemin was a homebody until he died so being in this situation was a little foreign to you. you weren’t sure if you had gotten into a scare like this since the first two months that you and jaemin were dating.

“i thought we would be safe in fucking london!” jaemin hisses back as the two of you weave in and out of the stumbling bodies exiting suspicious looking clubs. “it’s two in the morning and people still recognized me wearing a sweatshirt, mask, and sunglasses.”

you stop in your tracks at that, gaping at jaemin’s ‘foolproof’ disguise. the sweatshirt he mentioned? neon green. you mentally face-palm as the two of you start running again, hearing the incoming mob of people.

they definitely had done this before, you think. you were way too tired and they looked like keep tailing the two of you for another couple hours for sure.

“you cannot tell me that the sweatshirt the color of a traffic suit was your way of escaping paparazzi,” you deadpan. looking back on it, the last couple years worth of dates were done where you were both wearing clothes that were almost at the level of national espionage.

you and jaemin would always wear varying shades of black and the two of you would always choose the most hole in the wall places you could find - or some of the industry safe places, such as the locations in itaewon, where you could easily blend with the foreigners. even some of the veterans of the industry were known for letting idols into their establishments in discrete ways so that everyone could act normally for a few hours.

the two of you had gotten careless this time. thinking you would be safe due to the far away location, as well as the late timing, you had grown lax and comfortable due to the lack of scandals for the past few years. rookie mistake.

“this way! if we get off of peter street, we should be able to dodge the tabloids,” you stage whisper, tugging your boyfriend so that he would be by your side as the two of you dash into the nearest adjacent street that you can.

you’re affectively pressed up against jaemin’s chest as you rest your head against the crook of his neck, trying to conceal both of your faces so that you look like any other drunk and enamored couple. you would tell jaemin to take off that stupid neon green sweatshirt but the space to move is a luxury you haven’t been awarded.

you and jaemin hold your breaths, hoping that the less noise you make, the less the gods are compelled to send the tabloids your way. it seems your vehement prayers (and perhaps the fact that the alleyway was so dark, it muted jaemin’s sweatshirt color) have paid off because the mob that was following you run right past the alleyway you’re hiding in in a cacophony of “this way!” and “we’re gonna make front page!” that lets you know that you’ve successfully escape them.

the two of you shimmy out of the alley when you’re positive there’s no one left and breathe in the air that was much too hard to breath in the cramped alleyway.

you look at jaemin, who’s already looking at you with a stupid grin on his face as he presses a kiss against your cheek.

“so much for lowkey, huh?”

“na jaemin, i swear to fucking god, if you don’t throw out that sweatshirt right now, i’m breaking up with you!”

“but...but it’s the nct dream sweatshirt.”

“...i’m gonna kill jeno.”

What halves of which couples from gen 1-3 would come back for an All-Stars season against the reboot contestants

Now this hypothetical new all-stars season would probably be season 3 of the reboot. And since season 1 of the reboot takes place 15 years after the original TDI, that would place the new all-stars season 17 years after TDI, so that would place the original Island Cast (plus Alejandro and Sierra) at age 33, the ROTI cast at age 31, and the PI cast at age 30, so I don't think it's a stretch to assume that most, if not all, of the TD alum couples would have a kid or 2. Thus if Chris were to invite the various TD alums back for another all-stars season, the various couples would each have a conversation that boils down to "Ok, one of us should stay home to reduce the risk of our kid(s) becoming an orphan." So I will now go over the couples that are still together (or in the case of Scottney, couples I can see getting back together after their canon break-up), and discuss who would compete and who would opt out.

Geoff and Bridgette- Geoff already had his time to shine in the Ridonculous race, so I would say Bridgette would be the one competing in All-Stars 2.

Noah and Emma- speaking of former Ridonculous Racers, I feel Noah being the 1 to compete in All-Stars 2 instead of Emma is a no-brainer for 2 reasons. 1 being that he's the only half of the couple to have competed in Total Drama while Emma only participated in a spin-off. The 2nd being their careers. Emma would probably be busy with her lawyer career while I picture Noah alternating continuing to compete in the reality show circuit and being a stay-at-home dad.

Tyler and Lindsay- The TDA special mentioned Tyler also being in the reality show circuit, and I can see him continuing that well into his 30s. And when Lindsay competed in the first all-stars, she gave up after 1 episode. So I can imagine Tyler being the 1 to compete in All-Stars 2.

Leshawna and Harold- I can see this couple being 1 of the couples who both compete, mainly because I can't decide between them.

Alejandro and Heather- I can see these 2 also being 1 of the exceptions to the "only 1 half of a couple competes in All-Stars 2) thing, but if they aren't, I say Heather who competes based on my headcanons regarding their post-TD careers. I picture Alejandro becoming a paleontologist (which admittedly is something he could probably put on hold for a few weeks while he competed on All-Stars 2). Similar to Noah, I see Heather alternating between being a stay-at-home mom and competing in the reality show circuit (and since her online interview for World Tour mentions her doing Karaoke, I can see her competing in TD universe's equivalent of the Masked Singer). Plus, I love the idea of Julia and Heather competing against each other or being on a team together.

Scottney- hear me out, but I think Scott would be one competing in All-Stars 2 (assuming the balloon incident in the first all-stars didn't traumatize the 2 into both opting out of All-Stars 2). Similar to Emma, I imagine that Courtney's lawyer career would keep too busy to compete in All-Stars 2. Plus from a Doylist standpoint, I imagine the writers would want to keep the ratio of Island and Roti contestants even.

Zoke- In the All-Stars finale, Mike expressed interest in competing in another season of TD to which Zoey (along with Gwen and Cameron) made it clear that she did not want to compete again. Based on that, Mike would probably be the 1 to return.

Shawn and Jasmine- This could potentially be another couple where both parties compete, but if I had to choose, I'd say Shawn is the 1 competing, with the in-universe explanation being that Jasmine's flowershop/cage-fighting school is very busy during the summer, and she didn't trust Shawn to run it for her. Alternatively, they could be one of the couples where both parties opt out of All-Stars 2.

Edit: I just realized I forgot to discuss Sam and Dakota. Sam already had a solo run in All-Stars (which was not well received), in the event of there being another All-Stars, I think they would bring back both or only bring Dakota. If Dakota comes back, my caveat would that she's figured out a way to switch between her human and mutant form at will, with Chris saying that she's only allowed to switch to a mutant form in emergencies.

Haunted Halloween

(Slight spoilers for the Purge, Scream, and Nightmare Before Christmas.)

"So what does everyone want to do tonight?" Pete asked with a bright smile on his face as he sat down next to the others on the couch. "We can go smell some of Jay's cooking, we can go watch trick-or-treaters from the boundary..."

Sasappis sighed. "We can listen to you ramble all night." He said with an annoyed tone in his voice.

"Shall we go watch a film?" Isaac inquired. "In the spirit of the season, we could watch something scary."

"Thor like that idea." Thorfinn bellowed. "Thor miss seeing gore on daily basis."

"I do not wish to watch anything with too much blood," Hetty said.

Flower stopped reaching for the 'butterfly' she saw in the air. "Me neither, man! I was always jumpy with horror movies. Too much needless violence!"

Trevor glanced at her. "Flower, you talk about people in the cult locking each other up in a room until one killed the other." She just shrugged in reply. "But I was never a fan of horror films either, I like the college comedy the best."

The jazz singer next to him hummed. "My movie tastes back when I was alive was very different from how it is now. You all know I like anything with Jason Momoa." She paused. "Why don't we watch Aquaman again?"

Sasappis ignored the suggestion from Alberta. "Look, we have two TV's, we can put a scary movie on one and a different movie on the other that more friendly for the kids."

Pete cringed at the name Sass has called the four youngest. "We aren't kids, we just don't want to watch something scary, especially not right now. You saw the story on Jay's phone, right?"

"What is this story you are talking about, Peter?" Isaac questioned.

"There's some psychopath on the loose right now. He could apparently be anywhere." Pete explained.

The Native American man scoffed in disbelief. "I'm sure we're fine. The mansion is in the middle of nowhere. Also, we're ghosts."

"Sasappis right. Not like people can hurt ghosts."

"What 'bout Sam and Jay though?" Trevor weighed in. "They can die or get hurt."

"What are the odds though? It's not like he's contained to one area, like us. He'll pass us by without a second thought."

"Sass is right." Alberta said. "Let's just go watch our movies. Trev, you gotta find something for us to watch and put on something for these four."

"Hetty?" Flower asked. "You're gonna watch a scary movie? For real?"

"Well, I normally will not tolerate gore scenes because of how grotesque they always become. But, I am an adult, I shall be mature and bear it for the sake of Halloween." She said grasping Isaac's arm.

"So it's settled, we will see you after our respective movies." Isaac concluded.

Trevor, after many minutes of struggle that both annoyed and amazed the older ghosts, had put on a movie that caught the eye of the four, entitled: The Purge.

Hetty was already skeptical about the title and the image that appeared on the screen, the mask with the eyes crossed out had freaked her out a bit.

She leaned into Isaac, seeking his comfort when somebody on screen was shot at. He, luckily, leaned to her too, grabbing her hand and rubbing it comfortingly. She noticed his breathing was also very abnormal, taking uneven breaths.

Sasappis wasn't exactly comfortable watching this either, no man was an actual man, instead they were all blood thirsty demons in search of carnage. It terrified him. He didn't even find the story too interesting to watch, he found it predictable which character was gonna die next. The gore scared him the most.

They all jumped at a scare on screen. Isaac gasping loud enough to wake up the dead, and Hetty jumping out of her seat. "This is too much! I tried to be mature but I am sorry, my female brain cannot handle this, Sasappis!" She cried. "It's too much for my eyes to bear! I'm going to make my way to bed. I wish you all a good night."

Isaac rubbed his eyes, trying to hide the tears of fear that were there. "Goodnight, Henrietta. Sleep well, my friend."

The other two murmured a goodnight too as she scurried out of the room as fast as she could in her dress.

Meanwhile, the others were having the time of their lives. The four has taken to singing all the musical numbers of the movie Trevor had chosen for the group, Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie seemed to have something for everyone, but they all enjoyed the music!

While singing 'Kidnap the Santa Clause', they heard loud screams from the other room. Trevor chuckled, as everyone in the group stopped belting out the lyrics but Flower, who kept singing and dancing on the couch.

"And that is why I hate horror movies." He said.

Pete grimaced. "I kinda feel bad, I mean, Hetty's in there. She can't handle gore. And Isaac's been in war for goodness sake, what if he has PTSD?!"

"If they decide they can't handle it, they'll either come join us, or stop the movie." Alberta reasoned over Flowers's slightly offkey singing. "And I'm sure they are fine anyways, they did want to watch a horror in the first place which meant they had to have known what they were stepping into."

"Fine," Pete said. "I just hope they're alright."

Trevor laughed. "Hetty's tougher than she seems, and Isaac knows it's all fake. I'm sure the gunshot wounds don't even look real."

"Why do the gunshot wounds look so real??!!" Isaac screamed. He was covering half his face with his coat in terror. Why, oh why did they decide to watch this?

Sasappis had his eyes wide open and his jaw on the floor. "This movie was made by evil people, pure, pure evil. Who could even imagine something like this?!"

Another person was shot on screen, causing the three men to jump. "No, no, no. That it. Thor not watch anymore. Too scary even for Thorfinn." Thorfinn shuddered.

Sasappis got off the couch. "Yeah, I'm not watching anymore either. The concept is just too horrifying, I come up with my own scary stories and none of them are like that." He looked at Isaac and reached out his hand. "Come on, that's it, we aren't gonna watch anymore, this is nightmare fuel."

Isaac shook his head with distinct hesitation. "I can finish it. I was a captain, I can do this."

Sasappis sighed. Isaac wasn't gonna leave, the man was too determined to finish what he started, even if it meant sacrificing his sleep. "Okay, we'll be in our rooms." He said subtly offering help if needed later.

Isaac awoke to a loud crash downstairs. He jolted up in surprise and looked at the clock Samantha kept on the wall.

Who in the world would be up at 3 a.m.? Sure, Hetty had insomnia often, but she couldn't touch things. So what had caused the sound?

Sasappis and Thorfinn peeked their head through the door. "What was that?" Sasappis had asked.

"I have no idea, why are you asking me?" Isaac said in reply. "It came from downstairs."

"What if it dangerous man Pete talking about. What if Purge is going on in world outside?"

Isaac paced through the door and looked at the two of his oldest friends. "I'm sure we are fine, maybe a pot or pan from the kitchen fell?"

Just then, Hetty came racing down the hall. "I was searching everywhere for you three!" She whisper-shouted. "A window is open in Flower and my room. I believe someone might have broken in!"

Isaacs's eyes went wide and the four dead souls glanced at each other in worry. "Alright troops," Isaac commanded, getting back into his old captain mindset. "We shall split up and search the house for anomalies."

"No, you idiot!" Sasappis objected. "Never split up! It's like a death wish!"

"Sass is right. We see movie Scream with Trevor last week. We learn all about the rules."

"There are rules?" Isaac inquired.

"Yeah, you also can't have sex," Hetty blushed and looked down. "You can't drink or do drugs, and you can't say: 'I'll be right back.' You won't be right back." Sasappis explained to the two twin like best friends. "Good thing I'm a virg-" He cut himself off, realizing what he had said. "N-nevermind."

"So it's settled, we shall storm the house together."

The quartet tiptoed down the stairs, being careful not to make a sound. Even Thor kept his feet light, so as to not alert the possible intruder.

Clangs of metal echoed throughout the house, originating from the kitchen. Isaac put his head as close to the door as possible without putting it through.

Another sound came from the study upstairs, making everyone jump. Isaac yelped and almost fell to the floor, but Hetty caught him before he fell flat on his back.

"What was that?!" Sasappis yelled.

Isaac scrambled up out of Hetty's grasp and turned to the stairs. "Someone must check that out too."

Hetty sighed. "Silly rules aside, this is not a movie. We shall be fine going to check it out by ourselves, Isaac. We shall go upstairs and check the library while Sasappis and Thorfinn check the kitchen."

"Alright, don't blame us when you've been gutted like a fish." Sasappis countered.

"We shall be right back," Isaac said before he could stop himself. "Damn my mouth." He muttered under his breath.

Sasappis and Thorfinn stepped toward the door, both glancing at each other uncertainly. "Thor, I want to be a good best friend and insist you go ahead."

Thorfinn laughed. "No, no, Sass. You go first."

"But I insist."

"Thor double insists."

Sasappis exhaled and looked at the door, pausing for just a moment before he stepped through. Thor lagged behind him.

It was dark, but through the dark, they could see a mess in the kitchen. Pots, pans, and ingredients were spilled throughout the room. A red liquid was dripping off the table, and Sass gasped. "Is that... blood?"

"Thor know blood. That is blood." He said, terror seeping through his voice

A man rose up from behind the island, he held a object in his raised hand. "I'm gonna kill you!"

Thor and Sasappis screamed in horror as they ran out of the kitchen, not looking back.

In the meanwhile, Hetty and Isaac climbed the stairs. Hetty was grasping onto Isaacs's arm so tightly, it would have stopped his circulation.

Another loud bang came from the room in question, causing them both to cower together. "You said: 'We'll be right back', Isaac. You have doomed us."

"I'm sorry, okay! It just slipped out!"

They fazed their heads through a wall to see what was going on. Inside the dark room, they saw the silhouette of a woman, she was hitting the safe with the sharp end of a hammer.

Hetty gasped and pulled Isaac out through the wall. "We are being robbed! I bet you tonight is a Purge night! We are all going to die!" Hetty hissed, overcome with hysteria.

Just then, Sasappis and Thorfinn came running up the stairs in a hurry. "There is a murderer in the kitchen! I think he killed Sam and Jay! There is blood all over the table!"

"Gadzooks!"

"They killed Sam and Jay?!"

Thor nodded. "Puny man and tiny woman stood no chance."

"Well, there is a robber in this room trying to break into the safe!" Hetty exclaimed.

Sasappis inhaled deeply, trying to calm himself down. "It can't be the Purge. Sam would have told us."

"Sam not tell us things in past cause she thought it would freak out us. What if the same tonight?"

"Whatever it is, what can we even do?" Hetty yelled.

Sasappis and Thor tensed. "You guys," Sasappis said. "Run. There are people right behind you. "

"Oh, very funny Sasappis." Hetty scoffed.

"I'm not kidding run!"

Isaac and Hetty both turned around, not expecting anything, only to be spooked by five shadows behind them.

The four ran down the hall and down the stairs, screaming and yelling out in horror.

"We're gonna die!"

"Let me into Valhalla, gods!"

"IT'S THE BLOODY PURGE!"

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!"

The ghosts stopped running about at the sound of Trevor yelling over their screams. They all turned and saw the four youngest ghosts staring at them like they were crazy. "What in petes sake is wrong with you four?" Alberta asked.

"Sam and Jay are dead!" Sasappis yelled.

"I think we are anything but dead, Sass." Sam said. The lights all flickered on, illuminating the once dark room. The four gazed up the stairs in incredulity, before quickly making their way closer to the woman they though was dead.

"Samantha! Thank goodness you are alive!" Hetty exclaimed. "We had thought the murderer in the kitchen had gotten you!"

Sam raised her eyebrows. "Murderer in the kitchen? Wait back up."

Just then, Jay strode out in kitchen door holding a spatchula. "Hey babe, I finally killed that bug in the kitchen."

"Bug?" Isaac said.

"Yeah, the power went out while Jay was in the middle of making us a late night snack so I went to the safe to grab a flashlight."

Thorfinn pointed upstairs. "Why you hitting safe like Thor used to hit Danes?"

"The lock got stuck again. This time I couldn't get it open." Sam explained.

"What about the blood on the kitchen table?" Sasappis asked, looking over at Jay.

Sam looked at Jay, who was cleaning off 'blood' from his hands. "Sass wants to know why there was 'blood' on the table."

The man laughed. "That wasn't blood!" He explained. "I spilled red food dye! When the power shut off, I started dropping pans and spilling things like crazy!"

"Wait." Isaac said. "You mean, there was no intruder?"

"But my window was open!"

Sam smiled. "I must have just forgot to shut it." She said. "Are you four alright? You look really scared."

Thorfinn laughed, embarrassed. "Thor wasn't scared, tears are from allergies."

"Yes, Sam we are right as rain." Isaac said confidently.

"BOO!" Flower screamed as she jumped out from behind the group.

The four flinched and yelped, Hetty and Isaac jumped into each others arms and Thorfinn hid behind Sasappis who was covering his face with his hands. "Oh my god, we are gonna die!" He yelled through his hands.

"You're already dead! We are already dead!" Trevor said with a wide grin.

Alberta tsked. "You poor babys, you should have come watched a movie with us! Instead of watching that blood-bath you did!"

Sam turned toward them in surprise. "You four watched a scary movie? What was it called?"

"I put on something called 'The Purge' for them."

She turned her head toward Trevor so quick, the ghosts were afraid she would break her neck. "The Purge!? That movie is intense!"

"I didn't know that! They were browsing and saw it, they wanted to watched it so I clicked start! It's not my fault!" Trevor defended himself.

"We really gotta put that childs lock on the TV, Jay." Sam said. "But are you four alright?"

"We shall be okay, Samantha. Just please, close that window in my room."

Sam grinned. "Of course, Hetty. Just remember, we are careful about making sure the house is locked up, we won't let anything happen."

"And The Purge isn't real!" Jay added.

Sam nodded. "Thank you, babe."

And so they all went back to sleep.

Sasappis woke up the next morning, eyesight blurry and clouded. He rubbed his eyes and positioned himself so he was sitting on the edge of his bed.

He smiled thinking of the night they had last night. Sure it was scary at the time, but now he looked back on it and laughed. Sasappis set his feet down on the ground and yawned.

He felt hands grab at his ankles from underneath the bed. The native gave a high pitched scream and jumped off the bed.

"Hahahahaha!!! Oh my god, dude that was awesome!" Trevor said, crawling out from underneath the bed. "I wish I could have seen the look on your face!"

"You suck." Sasappis spat. "You suck so hard, I'd slap you if it wouldn't land me in Ghost Court."

"You were so scared!"

Sasappis just rolled his eyes in response and walked out of the room before he did something he would regret.

Total Drama Next Generation Trailers Thoughts

So, 3 trailers were released for the new season. You probably want my thoughts on them. I will be honest, I don’t have too much to say. And I especially don’t have any predictions for elimination orders yet. Since these trailers came out, everyone’s saying Caleb is the first boot because of a lack of footage of him… No. From the posters, no. This is a red herring. At least I hope so, if you saw from my thoughts post on the posters, you know that I think Caleb is gonna be a bigger character. (A ‘reserve Justin’ in that he is a good guy but is only judged by looks, which he doesn’t want, kind of character. But I could be wrong)

Same goes for Axel, who is also not in these trailers very much.

But my argument is that unless you’re The Masked Singer and you waste money for good costumes to only be in one episode just because, WHY would you put so much detail into a character design that won’t be featured?

This is like if Gwen was the first boot in Island.

Caleb and Axel are barely in the trailers because their roles are spoiler heavy. Simple as that.

If they ARE early boots, I won’t be happy because they have potential we saw from the posters.

ANYWAY, this first trailer is only fifteen seconds and a different language. So here are parts I find interesting.

We also have Ripper without his shirt in this shot, which means the shirt ripping scene takes place before this.

This might be like the first episode of TDI, where we get introduced to characters one by one as they arrive at the docks.

Also a detail I noticed about TDI is the characters holding the posters.

Owen held the green poster, and he was the winner.

Harold held the red poster, and he was the last character eliminated before the merge.

Does this foreshadow Em and Zee’s fates?

I’m probably reading to much into this.

This is Trailer 2, which is the same length, but in English this time.

So this is a challenge. Which episode it is, I do not know. But we can tell this is a pirate fight with cabbage as cannonballs. We have multiple shots of this such as:

Zee is driving.

He’s clearly not good at it.

This makes me think he’s gonna be Diet Harold.

Is this that pancake challenge from All Stars?

Also Ripper has been the slapstick character a lot in these trailers. Idk if these are the only scenes where he’s the slapstick or not.

I did not expect this of his character, as from the posters I thought he was gonna be the dry cynical ‘Meh’ attitude. That could still be the case, and it’s why he’s the slapstick, (because kids find cynical characters boring, we gotta dumb our dark humor down so kids don’t get grossed out.)

Seriously, Total Drama is Shrek in TV format.

There’s also voice acting here. I LOVE Quinn’s voice. (I know her name is Scary Girl. I’m calling her Quinn.)

Whether or not this is the same episode, I do not know. Either this is a treasure hunting part, or it’s a different episode.

Everyone also looks so non-chalant of Quinn’s antics here. I thought they’d put ‘Scary Girl’ into a big deal, but no. They treat her normally.

Actually, I’m on board with that. Maybe that’s all Quinn wants, to be treated normally when she’s being herself. There could be more character depth with her than we thought. Also, Axel is not with her team here!

Yeah this is why I’m not calling Fresh TV bad marketers yet. You don’t know if they are early boots yet.

These other zombies look like Akali from League of Legends and a recolored Plants Vs Zombies.

This image is actually from Trailer 3, which is next. And it’s thirty seconds.

They have their phones confirmed. Also questioning Wayne and Ram’s relationship.

We also get to hear Julia and Nichelle’s voice acting. They both sound neat. Julia’s voice is a little hollow for me, but Nichelle’s is perfect. This is exactly how I imagine she’d sound like.

They both also point out that Julia and Nichelle are already famous. In that case, why are they competing if they already have fame? What do they gain from it?

There’s also a lot you can interpret from Nichelle’s “I’m famous. I have no idea who she is.”

Either she is actually famous and Julia is an arrogant wannabe. Or Julia looks up to Nichelle.

Or they’re both full of it. Either way, I’m sensing a bit of Heather from these two. But then again, for some reason, post WT Total Drama HATES Heather even though she’s the best and most important character in the franchise. So I think if Julia or Nichelle ARE villains, they’re getting redemption arcs. But if they ARE the new Heather, I will like that. TD has really gone off the rails with their villains since Heather and we NEED something more human.

Yes you could argue Scott, but that’s All Stars. And you could argue the Ice Dancers, but I was never intimidated by them nor did they make my blood boil. They’re just kinda petty cheaters and sometimes stupid.

But getting back on topic, I do like the idea of some characters being after fame specifically You know, THE SPOTLIGHT, THE GLORY, that most teenagers strive for.

A very HUMAN motive that has NOT been relevant to ANY character since Alejandro’s motive in WT.

I MISSED THAT.

Yes I know fame isn’t gonna be a motive for every character, but it’s been the driving force of most of the OG cast members playing the game that it’s hard to imagine anyone doing these games without that motive. This was a pretty big deal in Island and Action, so it was jarring to suddenly lose that motive.

Leshawna, you have competition.

Okay, NOW I see the hype around Quinn.

I have… no idea what’s happening here. So Priya is… trying to be friends with Chase, and is saying it aggressively for some reason?

I’ve heard rumors about her backstory, so maybe Priya is well meaning, she just doesn’t know how to talk to people.

Either this is a fight. Or this is about Caleb like we saw in the posters. Or, what I’m getting at…

Priya and Chase are gonna be a romantic pairing.

Chase and Priya are both so blandly designed that it’s hard for me to see them not being early boots, BUT IF THEY ARE STAYING, I think these two are gonna be the Gwen and Trent of this generation.

And hopefully Chase is more interesting than Trent. (Not sorry)

Everyone’s saying she’s gonna win. Even I said that was possible. But she’s BARELY been in these trailers.

But this could be a Caleb/Axel situation where she’s just having spoiler heavy moments. In fact, HALF of these characters are barely in the trailers. I don’t know why people are saying these are spoiler heavy.

Speaking of: I know what you’re thinking. “Oh come the f on, they spoiled the elimination ceremony?”

Well… we DON’T know this yet.

I don’t think this is actually an elimination ceremony. I think this is that zombie challenge, and it’s a team meeting. Kind of like in the slasher episode in TDI.

And they’re staring at MK cause she knows something.

Caleb isn’t there because he’s probably captured.

That might also be what Axel is doing in the shed in that one clip.

It might be like the TDI slasher challenge where campers get picked off one by one.

I think Axel is gonna be the Gwen of her team, where she’s more focused on herself. But she wins challenges for her team so she flies under the radar of elimination. But if she’s also the Duncan of the team in this challenge, she’s gonna be awesome.

What do I think of Chris’ new voice?

EVERYONE I know, and everyone I’ve seen online, HATES this voice.

…I don’t get the hate.

I think the voice is fine, if a little off sounding, but as long as this new VA captures Chris’s ego, I don’t care.

I think nostalgia is blinding people here.

Until I hear the VA in a full episode, I am not jumping on the hate train.

Why Chris’s original VA didn’t come back, I do not know. But there are a lot of reasons for why VAs don’t show up again. TD has kinda been bankrupt in the water for quite a few years now. Sure we had Ridonculous Race, which was decent, but nobody watched that or talked about that.

These are… rough trailers. But I feel legally required to watch this season regardless. So I’ll give more takes when it comes.

The Teen Wolf Movie, Scott McCall and regret

I suppose that I should start this meta with a disclaimer of sorts. I belong to a school of thought called the cauldron of story that presents the idea that every narrative you ever encounter in your life goes into a giant cauldron to make a sort of story stew, and with practise you can see the stories that inspired it. This isn't plagiarism because it's not the stories that are the meat and potatoes of the work but the mixture of them.

So for example Star Wars is Dune + Hidden Fortress + The hero with a hundred faces and through understanding those works allows you a peek into George Lucas' mind at the time.

Every creator is a giant melange of the narratives that they consumed, ones they liked and ones they didn't and ones they over heard of public transport.

So me shrieking about Jacob's Ladder does not imply Teen Wolf plagiarised it - it just stole from it, in the same way every creator has sticky fingers.

And to understand the teen wolf movie we need to talk about Silent Hill 2 - which creates a story cluster of it's own, if you crossed Jacob's Ladder with Blue Velvet and some other things, some of which are Japanese and I can't recognise [never having encountered them] you get Silent Hill 2.

Unfortunately Silent Hill 2 creates a sort of loop in that Blue Velvet and Jacob's Ladder also inspired Teen Wolf and so it's this sort of smear where we can say that the three of them are all inspirations but we can't say which is which. For example in 3b Scott and Allison hide in a wardrobe with louvre doors which is just like the scene in Blue Velvet where the main character sees the villain through the door of the wardrobe where he was hidden - but the same scene appears in Silent Hill 2 where James first encounters pyramid head. So which is the inspiration - I don't know. Which came first, the pyramid head or the oxygen mask?

Jacob's Ladder is incredibly intrinsic to Teen Wolf [props to weasley-detectives for the leg work on that one] and it defines bardo, and many of the monsters in Allison's narrative, for example, are lifted from that film entirely. Jacob's Ladder did not inspire Silent Hill [the first game] but it did inspire Silent Hill 2 and again they're all mashed together. In season 3, after the be a better Scott McCall program, Scott starts dressing like James Sunderland [the man character of SH2] who in turn is dressed like Jacob Singer in JL, but Scott's costuming is not the same as that of Jacob.

This blending of sources is normal and annoying, generally it is better to have sources that are distinct so you can dig better and explain one source and not two.

At first I thought the Teen Wolf movie was going to be inspired by Event Horizon because I knew it would be full of mindfuckery, and I was wrong in that it was Silent Hill2. It was a few days of picking at it before I realised that it wasn't inspired by Silent Hill2, it was what would you get if you rewrote Silent Hill 2 in Beacon Hills and then had to completely rewrite your script because you can't get the actors.

Scott's narrative is Silent Hill 2 - it's not "inspired by" it's an au but it also has a chronic misunderstanding of Silent Hill 2.

Remember how Gus Van Sant remade Psycho because he wanted to see how it worked and when he did it - it didn't work. It's like that.

In Silent Hill 2 [which is considered a masterwork and work of art in its own right, and is considered to be the very best video games have managed so far] James Sunderland recieves a letter from his dead wife asking him to meet her in Silent Hill. He finds the town abandoned and full of fog but there he meets an alternate of his wife, Mary, but sexy called Maria, a child called Laura [the sh2/twin peaks knot] a bully called Eddie, a girl called Angela who is seeking her mother, and twisted manifestations of James' own emotional turmoil - pyramid head, the sexiest version of nurses etc.

James was made impotent, both sexually and emotionally by Mary's long illness and death and the town forces him to face it. It is a purgatorial wasteland where water is seen as corrupting. This is the same as in Teen Wolf [and actually allowed us to unlock the symbolism and eventually colour theory]. The town is shrouded in fog to show how limited James' viewpoint is.

Now if we look at Scott's narrative, he returns to Beacon Hills to reunite with his dead girlfriend, finds the town almost completely abandoned, she is different and doesn't know him, and he is forced to face the one enemy that made him feel powerless and he gets the girl and the innocent child after someone else defeated the monster again.

Sound familiar.

We need to look at why Void, which the film specifically calls a nogitsune but then contradicts all the canon lore about kitsune we've ever had - but the same is true of Deputy Ishida. When Void possessed Stiles and Scott thought that the possession was quiescent he went with Stiles to Coach being shot, then the explosion at the Sheriff's station where Scott sucked up the pain of just about everyone he met, and Void revealed itself after stabbing Scott, and consumed all the pain that Scott had taken in, and he mocked Scott whilst doing it.

None of the other villains really cared about Scott, they might have paid lip service to the myth, and monologued about him doing things he hadn't, before someone else took them from the picture with Scott there posturing, but only Void made him feel small. Just like Mary's illness with James Scott was made impotent, both sexually and emotionally. Allison's death rid him of his determination that they were destined to be together - even though she had chosen someone else.

Just like Mary/Maria Allison is robbed of any autonomy. Mary is defined entirely by her illness, something she resents. Maria is Mary but sexy and resents James' fixation on Mary. Allison is the twisting of the knife to Scott, she is also the one who died on his watch and the one who he loved - and chose someone else. Brought back via the nemeton she is robbed of memory and vacillates between the image of her mother sending her after the wolves and Scott's image of her. She does not remember that she broke up with him, why she broke up with him, or any of the times he manipulated and used her. She is unaware, under the stadium, that he is still manipulating and using her. He is so set on his own affection for her - which after fifteen years will be a very different creature to what it was when he was sixteen and she was alive, that he steamrolls over her arguments and rather than bring her to her father, who she remembers and trusts, he maintains the isolation until she remembers what he wants her to remember.

Allison might as well be a ghost in the movie for all the autonomy and ability to choose that she retains. She is a weapon to be aimed, first by the nogitsune-creature that is manifested [which looks so much like the green eyed fox in The Lost Tomb (series 1, which is not the first series but is the first one chronologically] that I actually cursed out loud that I can't even watch weird Chinese tomb raiding shows without Davis having seen them too. I am actually tempted to call it the Green Eyed Fox because it even shares powers and the fly caught at the end of 3b was a housefly not a firefly - you can make a solid argument that it was Scott's view of the nogitsune, and had nothing to do with Void or an actual nogitsune and why Deputy Ishida was a 900 year old kitsune who didn't know because it allowed Scott an easy understanding of how it had oni - the weaons it used to kill Allison]

Or to simplify a lot of the details in the movie might have manifested because they were Scott's understanding of those things.

And this is where the overlap with Jacob's Ladder comes in.

In the chiropracter scene Louie explains to Jacob about Meister Eckhart, a christian theologian who explains bardo really well. To summarise after death figures appear and start to burn away the things that hold people to life, if you're nto ready to give these things up the figures seem to be demons and if you are they're benevolent angels.

Scott, and his entire plotline being about wish fulfilment and regret, feeds into this because Scott won't give these things up. He is still working for Deaton, he has done everything he can to not be a wolf except when it benefits him, but given the opportunity to bring Allison back from the dead he leaps at it without questioning anything about the plan - which Deaton does.

He fixates on Allison, not as she is, but as she was and leaps into danger convinced of his own ability to sway her to his side - because he believes he loves her.

But he doesn't love her - she's been dead for fifteen years = he LOVED her.

Silent Hill 2 is purgatorial which is a term you see thrown about a lot in media, oh this did make sense it was purgatorial, or the reason that these scenes don't gel is because it's purgatorial. Often those things aren't, they're just shitty writing. Lost for example, it being purgatory made no sense whatsoever.

Purgatory is an old Christian concept which is also called limbo. According to catholicism Purgatory is where you went when you should have gone to heaven but for some reason couldn't, for example a new born baby who wasn't baptised was tainted by original sin [you're born damned in catholicism] would go to Limbo, good people who weren't christian went to Limbo, the wives of sinners who could belonged to their husbands but didn't deserve hell went to limbo. Some catholic theologians suggested that it was possible to pass through purgatory and ascend to heaven.

It's this version of purgatory that Meister Eckhart put forward and Teen Wolf calls Bardo. It is a series of between states that allows the subject to cast aside those things that held them in place - like regret, to ascend to heaven.

Beacon Hills does seem to descend into a purgatorial wasteland, like Canaan in canon, as the show goes on and Scott re-enters it to the collapse of Oak Creek [which is weird that it went from standing proud to building graveyard in fifteen years when no one demolished it], and the first person he meets is Lydia- who has been shown to be able to travel between the worlds and has one foot in the afterlife by her nature.

Yet he cannot give up the triumphs and losses of high school. His worst enemy is one that didn't care for him when he was a kid. He gets to play lacrosse in the state championship. His teenage girlfriend comes back to life. He wants kids and how convenient the only werewolf with a kid dies saving Scott.

Scott chooses to remain trapped in the past. He cannot accept the figures stripping away those things that hold him back. Even the one thing that can lead him forward -his wolf - is denied. He is still the person he was in high school - he's just older and has a car now.

In many ways that's much more tragic than killing Derek.

The movie had some really great ideas - it's a pity that the movie ended up like that with Derek beating up the green eyed fox in a location they stole from Deadly Premonition and that is one piece of media Davis can keep to himself because life is far too short to play Deadly Premonition.

Hey! This is to show what's coming next as I edit the chapters I made years ago. When I do officially make it to the last chapter I stopped at, updates will be slow since I will be back writing again but I'm excited to continue the story.
