9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? I'd love to say it's my initial favourite of Marco/Law and I have been reading a great fanfic about them, but my writing for them was also drabbles/ficlets, and not so well developed, so I'll say LawZo, although that's a WIP and will be in the LawZo zine out next year. I had fun writing the (very) irregular limerick for LawBin for the polls this year, AND there is KidLaw in the works, AND, I tightened it this year, but didn't write it this year, but reuploaded a chapter to an AceLaw fic

Guess my answer is all of them. Also, plenty of platonic Trafalgar Law & the Heart Pirates. One Cora & Law fic for the Corazine too.

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

Maybe get some LawBin on paper. I've written it romantically a few times, but more often platonically, but usually in longfic. Wouldn't mind getting a one shot or two out.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? My current fave is in a WIP for the LawZo zine, so I can't share it for a while, so take the following from Bioluminescent Hearts. Not amazing, but I quite like the imagery. Spoilers for chapter 1081 (manga spoilers)

Orange and white striped tentacles rippled past Hakugan—the head of a sea anemone flexing its bright body backwards and forwards through the water. There was so much water, and the pressure. He couldn’t tell if he was cold, if he was uncomfortable. He tried to shake the vegetation from his hands, but to even budge a finger took effort.

I’ve never really considered them as a ship, and honestly I think this is the first time I’ve seen it mentioned, but I think they’d get along very well if they met (although maybe not at first, until they discover they’re both doctors with wild treatment techniques). I can see them being a very unhinged couple, which is cute in my book lol

LawBin: HOT DAMN / beyond flawless

I actually secretly LOVE this pairing, their combined personalities have led to some of my favorite interactions in one piece. I’d love if they ever opened up and discussed their pasts, because they have so much in common it’s kind of crazy. Also their aesthetics together, just 👌 I wouldn’t say they’re my OTP, but it’s always a joy to see them on my dash.

Franky/Sasaki (FraSasa?): cute / screaming and crying / beyond flawless

Hold on, is this an actual ship? If it is I’m completely on board with it now because that’s hilarious and I’d totally read a fic about them. It’s a shame their interactions were pretty limited (desperately hoping this next episode will expand on it at least a little) because I thought their fight was funny as hell. They should bond over drinks (sake for Sasaki and cola for Franky, or maybe they’d switch and make the other try it, that’d be fun to witness and holy hell I’m rambling on this one too much) and their funky techno equipment.

early bird gets the sleepy boyfriend

Law was a night owl. He worked late shifts at the hospital as often as he possibly could, treating patients and performing surgery all through the night.

Marco, on the other hand, was an early bird. His most productive hours were before lunchtime, and he got the best rest between dusk and dawn. A 9 to 5 job as a family physician suited him better than any sort of emergency service could.

While their schedules worked well for them individually, they also made it difficult to spend much time together. Most mornings, Law climbed into bed beside Marco, exhausted after a full night of work. He draped Marco’s arm around his waist and snuggled up against his chest— as they’d quickly learned, that was the best arrangement for them. Marco had to leave for work less than an hour later, and instead of moving a sleeping Law around to get out of bed, all he had to do was leave a body pillow in his place.

Sure, it wasn’t the perfect arrangement; they would have liked to spend more evenings together. But at the very least, Law fell asleep beside the man he loved, and Marco woke up the same.

Okay, you know I'm dying to know about the MarLaw for the WIP ask. And yeah, I don't really have WIP. More like unfinished projects? I tend to work on one thing at a time, but sometimes bits and pieces slip in :-) So glad to hear more about your work!

Ahah of course! The idea I was developing for this one was canon-verse, and it even had a summary/tag line: In a small island off Rocky Port, a falling star meets a rising one.

The idea is them meeting during the timeskip, when Marco is scrambling to ease the transition of islands formerly protected by Whitebeard to Blackbeard's hands, if only by helping them draft out surrender terms that don't fuck them over and avoid battle/ruin, but of course there's nothing big he can do about the situation and he's planning on going into hiding at the end of it all. This island he landed on is also having an epidemic so he's trying to help with that when another doctor (Law) shows up, who is of course a super rookie on his way to greatness. Nothing big was going to happen but I just wanted to contrast it all a bit and talk about Whitebeard's former territories because it never completely sat right with me that Whitebeard abandoned all his dependents by giving his life at Marineford lol. Could probably work at least a sex scene in there to spice it up though ahah.

It's super low priority on the list of one piece fics though so who knows if it'll ever get written!

OKAY! This was the 3rd one I got, and I thought of making it non-anon when I sent this out to other writers so that it didn't kinda circulate amongst the same circles continuously, but eh!

I'm a lot less tired than I was when I answered number 2, and here's a link to number 1, so

I've got a lot of fics, and I'm gonna do my next fave 5, because it's very hard to decide on faves. And @flyiing-giraffe left a fantastic review on

Taxi, which is very dear to my heart. It's meant to be AceLaw, but it's missing a chapter, and that was the most AceLaw part, but it's still there (the ship). The main idea is that Law drives a taxi and he meets people, and those people are your One Piece faves. Modern AU: summary:

Doflamingo's dementia, Ace's narcolepsy, Cora's death. Law collects vinyl with warps and scratches, and drives a taxi.

Chapters can mostly be read stand alone, and I wouldn't call it a ship fic.

Rated T, 14,392 words.

ZoLaw on the submarine, on the way to Wano. Rated a very soft M, I think, originally T.

Zoro and Law explore the unconformities of personal geography. Practice, distraction, quiet and unquiet minds.

This one is a ship fic on a ship.

4. Father Figure

Smoker and Law having that conversation in Punk Hazard! Platonic. The father figure ain't Smoker. (G5 regarded Vergo as a father figure. Law did not).

Only for the summary. The first story still makes me laugh. The second story is just a bit throwaway!

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)

Can’t think of anything I have very strong feelings about except the thing where people act like Robin has the mom role in the Strawhats, I really feel like people just pigeonhole her in that because of her age which, as someone her age, is weird lol. She’s sisterly at most! Zoro is also brotherly with Chopper and no one calls him a dad! There’s nothing particularly mom-ish about a calm and even personality!

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

Gonna be embarrassing again and say genderbending..... Tumblr’s over their genderbending-is-problematic phase right lol? Anyway when I first got into One Piece back in the day, Impel Down and Iva happened, and all the official SBS genderbends as a result and oh boy looking back my obsession was probably part of my sexual awakening lmao I had this huge folder full of pixiv fanart (wonder if it’s still on my old pc somewhere?) that are sadly unsourceable now due to their original posts long being deleted, and I remember uploading them to my livejournal. Crocodile was especially a big favourite of mine lol. Anyway I would die to see some sexy lady Crocodile again (and yes i still hold onto /that/ fan theory ahah)

Honestly on a meta level there’s probably a lot of other things, we always wish our fandoms were more complete, there’s never going to be a comprehensive list. I do wish there was less separation between the canon analysis people and the fic writing people, and I wish there were groups of writers who enjoy reading and hyping each other’s fics like I’ve seen in other fandoms where the writers are also big fic readers, it’d be nice to be part of a circle like that. Obviously you’re the exception to both these things ahah
