On July 6, I was lost and frustrated. Tired of sickness and guilt and just suffered an over all lack of direction. I was angry, as I have been for what seems my entire life, that things that most people could so easily was a struggle to me. I was frustrated because I felt unappreciated and honestly, worthless, as I often do when I have flairups with my mental health.

That night I had an amazing meditation session where I connected to my higher self. She said I would be healthy one day and living my dream life, but to do that, I had to understand that I inspire others, and I do that by enjoying my life to the fullest dispite my struggles.

This card reminds me of part of my vision. Apparently my shadow-self is a mermaid that needs nurturing 🧜‍♀️

The following days was one of the best I had in a long time. I felt productive, and thanks to one last dream, I understood what I wanted to do next--this blog.

But first I wanted to go outside into nature and journal a bit. This is a big deal for me because in my life I often struggled with agoraphobia. Some weeks I don't see the sun, and any day I can step out on my porch, especially alone, I consider it an accomplishment.

My intuition said to sit in the grass but instead I opted for the chair which promptly broke.

Instead of getting upset, I just laughed and laughed. Then I shimmied to figure out how to get up. Once I had thrown the chair out of my way, I noticed the falling had rustled up patches of mud.

I recalled a recent tarot reading suggest I ground myself by physically putting my hands in the dirt, and so I did. The mud was soft and squishy. I wondered if I could use it to build something. While I was rubbing the mud between my fingers, I noticed I had mud all over my notebook.

At that point I scraped a clump of mud all over my paper and realized it made the most beautiful shade of brown.

"What other shades could I find," I wondered

For anyone wondering, as an attempt to be more resourceful, I just disregard dates on planners.

This page might not seem like much but for me it's a hint of all the amazing things to come. It's amazing how something so small made my soul feel so deeply satisfied.

C R U S H One of my favourite parts of making my own paints is crushing up the rocks to form a fine pigment powder. It’s very mediative. This one is a chalk I foraged from Hampshire. Chalk is super soft and such a joy to grind. When it’s sieved the chalk clumps together creating tiny pearls of pigment. trying something new with a piece of yellow Moroccan ochre from Kremer pigments. Drawing directly onto the paper with the stone. The stone feels very greasy. It probably has clay in it. Therefore, the drawn lines can be activated with water. Then I use self made water/acrylic inks, made with earth pigments. I use iron ore (bean ore collected by myself), moraine stone powder, manganese black and a mix of various hematites from Kremer pigments. The inks are easy to make. Just put a bit of pigment into a small jar and add some water and a few drops of gloss acrylic varnish or painting medium (or watercolor medium),. Stir, and the ink is ready to use with a brush or a reed pen or for pouring directly onto a surface. Up to now I don't know how long these inks will be good, so I make only small amounts at once. They need to be stirred up every time you want to use them. first tests for making my own watercolors. I use earth pigments I collected from ice age moraines of southwest Germany. This one looks like yellow ochre. Because I don't have gum arabic binder at the moment, I used acrylic gel as a binder. Finally finished that Mayan Green paint I put to the side forever ago. Made so much more than I thought at first because of the pigment/vehicle ratio. Was totally off on my estimate. I'll be able to fit more in the pans when the first fill is dry. Didn't mean to put so much in for the first layer but there wasn't enough room in the syringe 😭. Making this really made me think how I wanted the paint to behave. One of only two reasons to make watercolor paint. Otherwise you're better off spending that time painting.
