🎄 HAPPY HOLIDAYS 🎄 . Wishing you all a very happy holiday time!! . I had a great week with my sister and her family, visiting the Christmas market, eating lots of good food and just spending time together. The kids had a lot of fun with their cousins even if there were also some stressful moments - I think, all in all we did a great job keeping five kids between the age of one and eight years occupied and tired around 8 pm, lol . The only thing I painted this week though are these Christmas ornaments inspired by @thepaintboxletters, trying out more galaxy color combinations from the Heavenly Bodies palette - I’m so in love with these colors, they are a joy to paint with!! . 🌈 LAST CIRCLE AND SKY 🌈 . This is the last spread in my little "Circles and Skies" series. In this one it was the circle, where the colors turned out a bit muddy, but I really love the sky . My inspiration was the view from my home office / studio window. I enjoy watching the sunset from there almost every day and every day there's something different to see . I'm making good progress on my Skillshare class and hope to be able to film it during my upcoming summer vacation. 🎨 JUST ME PLAYING TO PAINT 🎨 . No pressure, no reference, just me and three colors - and pure joy!! . Although I love to look for references and I have a ton saved for using sometime, it's special magic when I just take a few colors and "paint up a storm" . The tie dye as well as the skies are perfect for that. With some basic techniques and two or three colors you can just let go and watch your hand create something beautiful . 🌈 TIEDYE AND DRAMATIC SKY 🌈 . So, I saw this really nice tutorial by @jennarainey about tiedye designs and how to paint them with watercolor. I just had to try and combined it with another dramatic sky (reference from @lea_bicphotography) in my favorite sketchbook . This sky was super challenging and I'm not completely happy with it, there's too much green and some muddy places where the colors bleed together on the paper - which is quite funny because I'm currently developing my second Skillshare class where I will be teaching about how to avoid exactly that from happening 😂 . So yeah, I'll take it as good practice and I'm also thinking about trying to paint from the same reference again but with gouache. Don't know, I think it would be fun to see if it's easier to handle these color combinations when using gouache 😏 .
