Hi Inny. I'm procrastinating some work by asking for some Foster AU head canons, preferibly centered around the boys of SS.
Happy Tuesday!
Some headcanons from the Foster Care AU, where I am almost 50k in. Some will make it into the fic and some probably will not.
-Okay first Carlos 100% calls them Sunset Swerve to annoy them, as is his duty of being a little brother.
-Reggie and Willie's social worker is Maxine Gray from Judging Amy because that show is part of my DNA.
-Bobby goes to Los Feliz but isn't in the music program. He only knew Julie as 'that weirdo girl with the amazing voice who sometimes dances in the halls like she's the main character'. He likes her though, and always admired how she did shit like that without feeling self-conscious.
-Eventually, Bobby's grandparents get so sick that he can't keep being in the band. He actually flunks senior year and quits the band, telling them they'll do fine without him now that they have Julie, but he does have First Dibs on being their roadie once they make it big.
-After the lady selling tickets to Prom makes a big deal about how Alex can't take Willie (and Reggie is like: uh yeah he can, Luke got tickets for Julie just fine), they ditch prom. Because yeah, they could go to the principal, but the lady is threatening to tell everyone at Alex' parents' church about their sinner son and Alex just... can't. He's already scared about being kicked out the second he turns 18, he doesn't want to expedite the process.
-So of course Luke makes a giant speech about FUCK PROM and they all decide to ditch prom. Except Alex is sad because he really wanted the whole Prom Experience with Willie: the goofy pictures, the corsage, the slow dancing.
-And Reggie is all: um excuse we live with a photographer. We can make cliché prom pictures happen. Within like half an hour they have roped in Flynn and Julie and are planning the best Not Prom ever.
-Yes of course Tía and Ray help and probably even Emily because she was Sad to miss out on her baby going to prom and then so Proud when she learned why.
-Tía Victoria 100% took Alex and Willie shopping. (Separately, because she insists that seeing your date for the first time in their outfit on prom is A Thing.) She makes sure their outfits match.
-Luke kindly keeps his suit jacket and tie on until Bobby has picked him up and they're out of sight of his mom.
-Okay but do Ray and Emily maybe have a little text thread where they basically find creative ways to say 'fuck the Mercers' perhaps they do shhhh don't tell the kids.
-It might not make it into the fic but Reggie is studying to be a dog groomer until the band makes it big. Like, college isn't for him even with the Foster Kid Scholarship and Ray's support. And they promised No Record Contracts until Julie graduates high school so he needs something to do until they make it big.
-Bobby keeps saying he should practice on Luke because that's basically the same as a golden retriever, wriggles and bad breath and all.
-Alex does get kicked out of the house at 18 but the guys were on standby and basically came and picked him up, cheerfully barged their way inside by threatening to make a scene otherwise, cleared out everything that belonged to Alex (not much, they’d been quietly moving things out already over the past few weeks), stole all the toilet paper (thanks Bobby), and drove him straight to Ray’s house.
-Ray of course had already told Alex he was more than welcome to stay.

Police in Northern Virginia are investigating after a middle school librarian allegedly defended a pro-prostitution book by saying it belonged in the library because many of the school’s 11- to 13-year old students are sex workers, The Daily Wire has learned.
A shocked Loudoun County teacher went to the police after the librarian, Stefany Guido, allegedly made the comment to her. The teacher had asked Guido about a book a parent had flagged on Twitter called “Seeing Gender,” which included a chapter titled “‘Sex Work’ Is Not a Bad Term.” The Daily Wire is withholding the name of the teacher, who as a “mandatory reporter” felt compelled to tell police that students in her charge could be in danger.
Prostitution is “a job like being a store clerk, an architect, or a freelance writer. We all, unfortunately, have to do work to make a living. Some of us hate our jobs and some of us love them–the same goes for those who do sex work. Sadly, sex work is generally misunderstood,” the book states.
The Sterling Middle School teacher went to the school library after seeing the unidentified parent’s tweet about the book to find out if it was actually available to students. Guido retrieved the book and defended it, the teacher told police in a recorded conversation reviewed by The Daily Wire. In her interview with police, the teacher recounted her discussion with Guido.
“She started talking about how there’s kids who come to the library who do sex work, and this makes them feel validated,” the teacher told police. “As a teacher, if you get an individual student coming to you because you’re abused, you have to go the police immediately.”
The teacher said Guido did not name specific students, except one who had passed through the school about six years ago.
“I said, ‘what happens if a sixth grader checks it out?'” the teacher told police. “She said ‘I have a conversation with them about it.’”
“I said, ‘This is like a textbook for how to do this, including selling your body for hormone replacement therapy,'” the teacher said. “She said, ‘There’s no pornography in it so it doesn’t matter.’”
Guido did not return a request for comment from The Daily Wire on whether she had reported any knowledge she may have about child prostitution to the police.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office did not responded to a request for the police report, although the officer the teacher spoke to pledged to look into the matter.

Marrying Daemon was the dumbest thing she could have done. It solved no problems just made the existing ones more glaring.
First, if Laenor had been alive the Driftmark succession would not have been brought into question (Yet, it eventually would have always) as after Corlys, it goes to Laenor. It would’ve freed up some years or decades and Luke could’ve idk- actually gone to the fucking island he was set to eventually rule over or learn to sail. Maybe endear himself to some more people because as much as certain viewers like to pretend otherwise, Corlys was the only Velaryon happy to spit in the eyes of his ancestors sit that boy on the Driftwood throne.
Two, Viserys would not have had to use his last breath and final braincell to go to the throne room to help Rhaenyra usurp the Velaryons. He probably would’ve lived a little while longer and maybe this time he would’ve died quietly without uttering nonsense about a prophecy the Targaryens should not have even been involved with in the first place.
Rhaenyra could’ve maybe got her shit together and stopped living in a lalaland where she thought she would just be handed things because she’s *checks notes*
-A Targaryen
-She has a Dragon
-Daddy said so
But we know she wouldn’t, the entitlement runs deep. She would’ve stayed on Dragonstone where she’s ruling over a castle of employees sworn to her and a small merchant/fisher’s village. Rhaenyra lived in bliss on that island for a decade with no responsibilities.
Three, when you raise the Strong boys alongside their brothers and especially alongside Rhaena- who is literally a Targaryens/Velaryon child who is what the strong boys are actually supposed to look like, it becomes so obvious that the boys are bastards of non Valyrian parentage.
The only one who won in this arraignment was the Child groomer. He got the woman he spent years grooming as a child and he got a heir and a spare. Let’s pretend in a fairytale world where the Greens don’t crown Aegon and they slink off to whatever corner of the world TB think they deserve to after Viserys dies. The history books would write about the series of freak accidents that took Rhaenyra’s first 3 sons until Little Aegon was the heir.
Tumblr media
i honestly don't have anything to add anon. 100% agree with everything you've said.
rhaenyra is a horrible politician. her marriage to laenor kept the velaryon alliance and secured driftmark for her son. if laenor was alive, vaemond wouldn't have called for a petition, and rhaenyra wouldn't have to marry the strongs to the dragon twins. she could've arranged for marriages with other important houses like baratheon or lannister and win their support. also, by having legitimate sons with daemon she harmed jace, Joffrey and luke's legitimacy and position. especially jace.
your point about the strong boys parentage being even more obvious next to baela and rhaena is sooooo true. as if they didn't already stand out enough, raising them alongside the velaryons that they're usurping is ridiculous.
i really don't understand the people that are saying that rhaenyra is a good ruler because she managed dragonstone. dragonstone is a little island with a couple of villages surrounding it. you can't possibly compare it with ruling SEVEN KINGDOMS. (and even dragonstone turned against rhaenyra in the end, but i digress) rhaenyra thinking she's prepared to rule shows just how clueless she really is (she even says in ep 8 she doesn't know anything about ruling a kingdom lol)
i don't think that rhaenyra's decision to marry daemon was necessarily politic. i mean yeah he's a dragonrider and a soldier, but his loyalty was never an issue because he would never never never NEVER side with the greens (aka otto). the marriage def did more harm then good for rhaenyra, and the main benefactor was daemon.

Okay rant time
I’m so sick of team black stans in this fandom ( not all I wanna add) just the ones that seem to find me . I am sick of them acting like team black is perfect and team green is horrible . No ! It’s not that way read the book and you’ll see. That’s why I’m while very pumped to see team green naturally I’m kinda scared of they are gonna be if it’s gonna be more of the same or if they gonna give them their props too. I mean no daeron or mention , never any time spent getting to know Helaena’s kids …. It’s as if they writers were like no girl boss is perfect men suck …. Like no daemon is a god damn groomer , loved to deflower virgins and him and nettles . I mean come on . But let’s focus on how bad Aemond and aegon are …. Ummmm let’s not . Also I don’t wanna hear about how Aemond had no right to claim vhagar ! He absolutely did and they all attacked him for it … I know it’s different in the book , they are kids … words and such whatever but pushing and shoving while bad is nothing compared to a knife and taking someone’s eyes . Sorry . Luke didn’t deserve to die but I understand why Aemond wanted vengeance …. Anyway rant over …. Oh also I made this joke comment and this team black Stan just lit me up then why I say oh it’s a joke she’s like yeah well your pfp is aegon so I hate you by default , ummm wtf ? People mellow out

Actually Good PJO Fics
I've read 'em but I never see them rec'd anywhere on these blogs. There's no shortage of good PJO fics, but they can be hard to find since they're not just on Ao3 and many aren't Kudo'd or favorited as much as they should be.
Dark Percy Jackson - WIP
My Review - 7/10, Must read! Author really knows how to capture character dynamics and the writing is simply fantastic. Updates can range a few months but each new chapter is nice and long. Also! Percy's descent into darkness is just done so so well.
PJO Crossover - WIP (Might be perm hiatus)
My Review - 8/10, Bro this has got to be it. Just simply chef's kiss. It's actually crazy how good this is. Hunger Games x PJO. Unfinished.
PJO Crossover - WIP (Unfinished)
My Review - 9/10, Unfinished. Hunger Games x PJO. Mind the tags. BTW everything by this author is 10/10. Look at all PJO works. Off topic, but there's also a pretty good Marauder's one-shot somewhere in there.
Actually I'm gonna take a moment to just obsess over hanpersands (the author who wrote the fic above). Ok so, I think I've read all of their PJO fics. There's some very good love triangle Luke-Annabeth-Percy fics in there (10/10). Me personally? I don't like Luke. Big groomer vibes. But I don't think these fics necessarily portray the relationship as a healthy one at all. It's just kinda -- these kids are messed up, their feelings are messed up, there are no good role models around, and their hormones are whack. Let's see how this all comes together. Then there's a good dark Annabeth Chase fic and a good Nico/Percy fic and there's just a lot of gold hidden on this author's profile. Pls go check it out.
Famous throughout the PJO Fandom is the masterpiece fic Falling for You by 1967HogwartsGoddess
My Review - 10/10, probably the best PJO fic I've ever read and I'm very upset there aren't more. Like this is a terribly short list of good fics and now I'm upsetty spaghetti.

So annoying when someone goes “Well people forgive Silena and understand she was manipulated but when it comes to Luke-”
Miss Gurl they're remotely not the same. Like one of them is a fascist groomer pedophile and the other is Silena !!!!
Silena was not even a teen when Luke (!) charmed and manipulated her and made her believe she was helping the demigods and he was a whole ass adult and then when she realised his true plan and wanted to stop, HE BLACKMAILED HER ??? So sorry I don't feel any sympathy for him.
I cheered when he died fucking finally.

Wait i just realized something about the 'Percy and Luke are opposites' narrative. Both of them were abused by every adult in their life growing up.Percy responded by becoming a punk and a Team Parent who looks after younger people and treats them as a weird but logical and wholesome mix of close friends, little siblings and their pseudo-kids.Luke responded by becoming a ped0phile and serial groomer who almost exclusively showed interest in explicitly underaged girls and one who was probs intended as an adult but passes as a high schooler.Dam Don Riordan, you don't have to go that hard but at least you got your point across💀

LOOk I’m not saying that the dragon show is perfect, but I’m tired of reading these takes about how the show doesn’t understand the source material. That it has a pro-Targ stance. How people can say that even after a finale where two Targs lose control of their fire-breathing nukes and end up jump-starting the bloodiest civil war in Westerosi history?? I don’t know.
People seem to think that the show has portrayed Rhaenyra as perfect (questionable) and the good guy, and wouldn’t it be better if they’d stayed more faithful to the source material where Rhaenyra was kinda awful and a terrible leader?
Here’s the thing about the source material okay (and I’ve seen surprisingly little discussion of this): F&B is written from the perspective of a Maester living in a world steeped in violent misogyny. Maester Gyldayn’s prejudice against women colors his interpretations of events. I think Martin expects the reader to engage with this aspect of the text. That not only are we dealing with three unreliable sources, but the narrator himself has his own prejudices. Women who birth trueborn male children are spoken of much more charitably than women who refuse to marry or exhibit any sort of sexual agency. In fact, any woman exercising sexual agency has been characterized as fickle, manipulative, or vindictive (e.g. Saera Targaryen, Rhaenyra, Alys Rivers, etc.). So we can’t take any of the Maester’s impressions about women at face value. This shit is subtextual and it is frustratingly ignored by A LOT of book readers.
HotD is directly engaging with this latent theme in F&B. Which is GREAT and unexpected after the way GoT treated women. A lot of people seem to think that the show is pro-team black, but I think the show’s just pro-Rhaenyra (it’s also pro-Alicent, I’m sorry if you can’t accept this but Rhaenyra 👏and👏 Alicent👏 are👏 the 👏protagonists). Or at least it’s trying to portray her with more empathy and nuance. Book!Rhaenyra doesn’t have much agency. Daemon is the driving force behind everything she does. He teaches her how to have sex, he fights all the battles she wins; after Luke’s death she’s barely involved in the war. From the perspective of a misogynistic Maester this must be the truth. The show could’ve portrayed a more morally gray Rhaenyra but ultimately the writers decided to make this show about Rhaenyra and Alicent and their tragic, doomed love affair the disintegration of their relationship, as a commentary on how violent patriarchal systems ruin people even when they have generally good intentions. And show!Rhaenyra’s far from perfect, she’s arrogant, she (like her groomer uncle) has issues with consent, she absolutely takes advantage of her dumb dad’s callous treatment of everyone apart from her.
So the fucking white stag is the thing people bring up as an example of the the show picking Rhaenyra as the rightful ruler/ chosen one. But this ignores the context of the what happened before we see the white stag. Viseryss hunting party has caught a normal stag, and we see him unwilling to kill it but caving under the pressure because that’s who he is as a person and as a king. Viserys hates violence but when it is expected of him he will enact it (cutting open his first wife to get an heir, committing marital rape on his second wife). Rhaenyra sees the white stag but she shows restraint. Her claim to the throne is already threatened by Aegon’s birth, killing the stag would have been as symbolic gesture to show the lords present at the hunt that her father had made the right choice when naming her as heir. But unlike her father (and her uncle) Rhaenyra does not believe in using violence as a show of strength (something that becomes relevant again in the finale).
The stag can’t be a sign that Rhaenyra is the divinely appointed ruler of Westeros because we (and the writers) know how this all ends.
AND THEN there’s prophecy and the business with the dagger. Now we’ll have to see where they go with this (I think they have some coherent plan with this). But does the prophecy as the reason for Aegon’s conquest now cast Targaryen imperialism in a positive light? Well again, we know how the story ends. It was a dumb af ending but this is the prequel to GoT the show, so writers know how this ends. The Targs don’t do shit with this dagger. Their precious prophecy will be lost to time. The most they did was act as glorified couriers who brought the dagger from Valyria. All their ideas of grand destiny will amount to nothing. What do you call that? Dramatic irony?

Percy Jackson episode 8 ain't good either
Recently I got shouted at because I gave episode 8 of PJOTV a 4.5/10 when it’s the best episode”. Well the entire show was a 5/10 tbh but I’ll explain why it’s not good, not as a response thread.
Mainly the climactic battle between Ares and Percy isn’t good. The choreography is mid, the cinematography too. You don’t feel how much danger Percy is in (like the books), how he doesn’t even have a millisecond to lose focus, just how much power Ares; swings have, how much he has to rely on the sea. The show has it more like Ares throws Percy around for a bit then stands completely still for a minute as Walker says his cringy dialogue then gets splashed by a bad cgi wave that does not feel powerful. It doesn’t help that all the other fights and monsters in the show lacked tension so Percy rising up to his biggest challenge after previous difficulties is lost.
Lance Reddick as Zeus is fine, he has the ability to make a bad script sound good and is the only god to exude power. But the deadline already passed and nothing happened even when we were promised the most destructive war in history.
The deeply nuanced relationship that Percy and Poseidon had is gone. Poseidon makes a dramatic appearance to save Percy and gives up his pride to surrender. The gods are petty, blue and orange moralled freaks with a nuclear bomb yet all of that is gone. Poseidon is unambiguously a great guy. That Medusa victimhood stuff feels laughable now as the gods are whitewashed to an absurd degree. The show even has Percy tell Luke “the gods are trying their best”.
Speaking of Luke, the show has barely established him as a friend. His training of Percy is relegated to a poorly placed flashback in this episode. Despite Percy knowing all the tropes and plot of TLT, he still confronts Luke alone in a forest when Luke can easily kill him with no witnesses. Luke for some reason duels him when that is out of character for him being a son of Hemes. The book has Luke explicitly state that he’s not Ares. I’m not sure why they tried to have Luke recruit Percy when he tried to have him thrown into Tarturus just a while ago. Annabeth is there too and I mean, her entire relationship with Luke has been nothing. Just Luke simping about her to Percy and I mean, we know Luke is a canonical hebephile and groomer but even the books had the grace to reveal that when Annabeth had at least gotten her menses. It’s just telling us that all of Annabeth’s vulnerability in the future about Luke will be gone because they hate black girls.
We also get a fake out reunion between Percy and Sally despite the show fleshing out their relationship more. Like it’s the entire reason we’re even on this quest and they just don’t do it.
Despite lambasting the movies for 14 years, Rick Riordan rips off Gabe’s death from there. Brava!
I don’t get what people are saying, this episode has all the problems of the previous episodes, it is not a blueprint for going forward.

At "Camp Diversity" in California, CRT activists tortured children to convince them they're oppressed. Adults told Asian boys they had small penises, ordered Hispanics to clean up, and hit kids in the head “so they can feel how it is to be harassed."
‘This Is A Cult’: How Wealthy Santa Barbara Foreshadowed The Fight Against Crackpot Curriculum https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-is-a-cult-how-wealthy-santa-barbara-foreshadowed-the-fight-against-crackpot-curriculum
When parents sued a related group that was pushing CRT in Santa Barbara (& texting kids to become their new "family" without their parents' knowledge), it hired Democrat law firm Perkins Coie to fly in & crush them, treating the curriculum foisted on kids as top-secret to parents
The first parent to realize something was wrong in 2017--that this wasn't actually about "teaching slavery in history class"--was a woman who narrowly avoided the Jonestown massacre in the 70s. She recognized the rituals of those who ideologically groom children as cult-like.
“These are ideological predators,” she said. “People should be just as vigilant protecting their children from ideological predators as they are sexual predators.”
School districts steer money to unvetted, radical nonprofits, ushering wackos in.
For $129k, Santa Barbara hired an Ethnic Studies Coordinator who wants children to be “disrupters of the white supremacist, patriarchal, hetero-normative, imperialist hegemony.” Hispanics were told they were actually part of the extinct Mayan culture, which sacrificed children
As part of racial "education," kids chanted, pretended to be dead, endured hazing, bonded thru sharing secrets, were told to "act in a revolutionary fashion," and came to believe they found a new family. Their leaders consorted with felons who wanted to overthrow the government.
This is an important story because that's what parents need to understand. Of course every school teaches about slavery in history class, etc. When activists push for more race talk in school, they mean emotionally abusive, cult-like behavior.
Any loon can gain access to kids, if they wrap it in the right politics. For "social emotional learning," an "astrologer" who understands kids based on "cosmic DNA" talks to them about sex in Santa Barbara.
“I had great sexual experiences with guys in junior high and high school,” the expert said. “With the teens," we talk about misconceptions "like guys only want girls who have completely shaved pubes and find us disgusting unless we’re bare. We go ok, how’s that working for you?”
“We do an after-school group for young women called Sexual Wisdom," she said. "They bond to each other as educators and learners as they get a consciousness about their power of being sexual beings.” (On material that parents see, they call it “Relationship Wisdom.”)
Read the insane story of Santa Barbara as CRT's natural end point here:
