I FINALLY FOUND IT!! This place is AMAZING! #sawasantorini SAWA (Santorini Animal Welfare Association) was started by Christina and her husband Dave on the island of #santorini, where they take in and care for the animals of the island. #donkey #dogs #pig #horse #goat #chicken #puppies. You name it! These animals have been abused, or are injured, sick, or no longer wanted. Some of them, like Bella the pig, were saved from being someone’s meal. Donkeys are one of the hardest working animals on earth, many of which are overworked and not well taken of here on the island of Santorini. Sadly, they do not show their pain, therefore the instances of overworking, neglect and abuse will usually continue until it is too late for them. PLEASE DO NOT RIDE THE DONKEYS HERE! You may think it’s a fun Instagram moment, but they are being exploited for tourist dollars. They are so sweet and affectionate and curious. They rub up against you wanting love and pets. And those EARS! THOSE GLORIOUS EARS! Christina is such a passionate, hard-working woman, whose mission is to give love and care to these beautiful creatures. She has dedicated her life to giving these creatures the love, care, and respect they deserve. Fortunately, they were finally able to purchase their OWN land and are busy building new structures for the animals. She was so kind to spend time with me today, showing me around and giving me lots of history as to why this is so needed here. Cute Little Bird

This little guy flew into our glass screen door a few days ago & made such a loud bang , I just knew it would be dead. But it was just addled for about 20 minutes, chilling out in the yard, letting me look at it, talk to it & take pics. About 10 minutes later after the other birds started calling, it flew off into the trees! I was so grateful it was ok. I was trying to find a cage or something…

Gerbil rescue! When Spice’s cage mate passed away, their owner decided they didn’t want to get another gerbil to be friends with Spice, so they surrendered him to Hamilton Animal Services. We were happy to take Spice in, and we had him neutered shortly after his arrival. Gerbils need to be in pairs or groups, so our intention is to try to find him a home where there is another lone gerbil who needs a friend. Spice is doing great in his foster home so far. Run Run un zorro que fue traficado y vendido como un perro de cachorro

Fue capturado y trasladado por el Departamento de Fauna Silvestre de la Dirección de Medio Ambiente de la Policía Nacional del Perú junto con el Serfor al Parque de las Leyendas en San Miguel.

Lo compraron cuando era un cachorro pensando que era un perro.

Vivió lejos de su hábitat natural, tratado como si fuera un perro en los cerros de Comas, en Lima, Perú.
