[PMD Day] Explorers Camp Under the Cherry Tree

... under one full moon night.

This is my entry for PMD Day, happening at August the 2nd.

Looking back, whenever I do something this grand, (scenic BG, fancy style shading), it's usually in the form of commission. Thought of trying it for the PMD Day Art.

The scenery is partly inspired by Minecraft's Cherry Grove biome, hence the sakura tree acting as the feature piece of the scene. With my PMD AU cast from The Lucid Explorer, and Mountain Luxio, having a good time in the camp, whilst Iago (Floragato) tells stories and folklore of his home region.

Now to those who had followed TLE so far, you might be wondering why is it that Sylvir (Skitty)'s partner a Shinx, and not a Luxio (Mason). Well, that, I cannot answer for now, as this scene is not related to both AUs... This is just a fun little scenic drawing of mine to celebrate PMD Day. --- Team Avant-garde: > ??? I wanted to do the yokaitober challenge but it was too late by the time I wanted to haha so I decides to combine pokemon based on youkai and my ocs in one! After all, star rangers characters originally were pokemon ocs before (´◡`)

Lotad and it’s line are based on Kappa, while shuppet is based off a teru teru bozu. They’re not youkai, but based off a small handmade doll made of white paper or a cloth, used to bring nice weather, getting rid of rainy weather! 

Hoothoot isn't a youkai, but they have a creepy feel to them lol munna are like drowzee and hypno, based on the youkai called a Baku. Typically they watch over people and eat nightmares to protect humans! But munna seem to eat any dream haha

Just had this really cute thought of like. Ritsu being good with the kids in the village, and eventually being known for telling stories to them. Their favorite stories are actually his own adventures from his pmd days, although no one is aware of this. If anyone asks him if it really happened, or if there's really a giant pokemon that lives in the sky or under the ground, he'll just shrug and say 'who knows! But the world sure is a big place!' (If they're kids he might toss in an extra 'so you better be good or you might awaken Groudon, and he'll come get you!!' xD)

Honestly speaking, since he'd tell them to any kids he runs into in his downtime, and they'd surely be a big hit with them all, these stories might end up passed down from all three groups. I doubt they'd be treated as folklore or mythology given how modern Hisui is, but they might become commonplace children's stories in modern Sinnoh.

#ritsu probably likes kids a lot. they probably remind him of Caterpie :') #and possibly a little of his partner Avery who was. a little childlike at times sjfjsjfjdjfjsj #pla oc #ritsu #blablablah #pmd oc #god. I bet Lian ends up sitting in during one of these story sessions. wardens seem able to do multiple jobs #so maybe he had kidsitting duty and ritsu offered to help. Lian is 'too old' for these things and 'as a warden can't be fooled' but maybe. #maybe he gets drawn in anyways. just a little snfjsjfksjf #tbh a lot of the wardens probably enjoy listening if they're in earshot. iscan can't sleep that night terrified of unknown legendaries lol #a lot of them probably brush it off as ritsu just making things up even if his storytelling seems surprisingly consistent #well traveled adults like laventon however probably eye his stories with some measure of suspicion. #esp bc while ritsu claims to have no memories of other regions he seems to consistently describe mythology from others - namely hoenn #not sure if ritsu describes the pmd town villagers as the pokemon they truly are or not though #i bet unless its relevant ie diglett he superimposes equivalent pokemon from hisui. caterpie wurmple and lombre psyduck. things like that #*hoenn but Also Kanto. forgot about the legendary birds for a sec woops #I was focusing on the endgame plotline legendaries when thinking about this sjfjsjfjsjf #legendkeepers

i hope it's ok to respond to this publicly since u asked a q :-] thank u! i don't think it comes off as weird at all haha. i'm very used to it actually! (strangely? it just happens to me often for some reason)

my fav oc i've made for pmd specifically... varies. design-wise, i really like what i did with calamity (lombre), butcher (spidops), and violet (armarouge). i kinda like em all for different reasons, violet was a slight step out of my comfort zone haha. i actually like a lot of my pmd designs tbh. my number one fav oc ever would technically just be me! because that's me, and i like lookin like that. i rly like the design for my kerosona too bc he's kind of just a silly little guy.

for pmd specific favourites overall, my very silly unfortunate obvious answers are luwel (nuzleaf), keith (cacturne) and mike (breloom). even if they're pretty much just Guys With Clothes, they're very special to me, the last two specifically -- keith was my starter pokemon in a nuzlocke randomiser from ~2016-17 (not entirely sure) and i grew pretty attached to him. mike was the name of a competitive-ready breloom i was given during the gen 4 era, given to me by an old friend when i was maybe about 12 years old give or take (not entirely sure on the exact date, but pre-gen 5).

there's not anything overtly special about the two of them on the outside, but they're both just very important characters/pieces of my pokemon history personally. it's a little bit of being able to look back at two different eras of my interest in pokemon from when i was growing up, & being able to bring them "back" just has a Nice Feeling To It. i enjoy a lot of my ocs overall, i'm not really in the same boat as many other people who go "all of my ocs have a little bit of me in them" -- most of mine don't. i just make guys for fun, and sometimes i keep em and make stories with them. they're not all representative of me in some way, shape or form. some of them are! but most of them aren't. i just like messin around with funny guys. it's very difficult to give actual specific favourites haha

wanted to share my oc so here <3

this is Clementine, a mash up of a minecraft story mode-pokemon OC who ends up replacing Jesse in the original MCSM story (im trying to make sure she isnt just a repeat of Jesse/Jesse 2.0 tho)

specifically, this is her prior to her fighting the Wither Storm and has yet to fully comprehend whats happening, she has dual swords that a friend (or possible family member idk yet) gave her

and this is her team before they sadly passed due to the Wither Storm/subsequent Wither Sickness, she did nickname them but i havent decided on yet but either way she did care about them pretty deeply, also the only reason why Zweilous, Lombre and Quilladin arent fully evolved was cause, like i said, they passed during the Wither Storm/Wither Sickness so they never had the chance to fully evolve (also deino evolves at the stupid level of 50 into zweilous then zweilous evolves at the even dumber level of 64 so yea miss girl was never gonna get her hydreigon in the first place)

and this is her and her team after the Wither Storm, despite her seeing horrors previously unknown to mankind and her subsequent trauma from it, shes still gonna slay her days away while shes off to therapy, she also ended up using an old bag that a friend had before she passed due to Wither Sickness

she actually doesnt have two Mr Mimes n a Mr Rime, i just havent decided on whether or not to give her a Kantonian one or a Galarian one that eventually evolves into Mr Rime, the only one im sure about is her Hisuian Arcanine that she named Flamethrower

oh she is very pretty! very interesting story as well ^^ i had to ask my pokemon expert friend on the last paragraph but i understand now teehee

My laptop was gonna die so I think it's a good time to finish for today. I evolved three of my pokemon :D. I need to catch a lombre, so I can get a budew from a trade. Not sure if I'll use said budew, but roserade is really good. But so is ludicolo.
