actually all the alpha kids are some variant of aromantic to me as an aromantic person. its just that jake is the most obvious about it. jake is the one with canon justification the others are all just. im rotating them around in my brain. so. a list of how specifically the alpha kids are aromantic to me:

Jake: Aromantic because he's literally just written that way. He doesn't know the word aromantic and doesn't quite know that it's an option. He'll find out one day. I'm rooting for him.

Roxy: Lithromantic [Feels romantic attraction but doesn't like having romance reciprocated.] I think it just. fits her. I think she likes being romantic and entertaining romantic feelings and attraction but when someone reciprocates those feelings she feels weird and upset about it. She's got crushes on all her friends and it makes her happy and they all know about it and know they aren't expected to reciprocate. I think it's good for her.

Dirk: Cupioromantic [Likes the idea of a romantic relationship, doesn't actually enjoy a romantic relationship or necessarily feel romantic attraction after entering the relationship.] It's the way he interacts with Jake. He has a crush he has a huge fucking crush he is romantically interested and then they start dating and immediately Dirk is put off by it. Jake is still so important to him but its immediately different. They break up and he never gets in a romantic relationship again. It doesn't work for him. He doesn't like a romantic relationship he just chills with the romantic feelings and doesnt get invested in the relationship part. He does, though, I think, want those feelings to be reciprocated.

Jane: Aromantic [but under stupidly strong amatonormativity pressure]. I just think that she should be aromantic and it should be a chance to really hammer home the pressure of how she grew up. I think a narrative of Jane finding out through her friends that she's aromantic and refusing it and refusing it and refusing it until she finally breaks and starts unlearning all the amatonormativity balled up within her is. I think it would be so compelling. I also think it makes sense with how much she doubles down on romance because that's how she deals with all the things she doubts. Double down on the opinion she knows is at least a little bit wrong because she can't be wrong that can't be true. I think aromantic Jane is interesting ok.

you'll never guess what I've been thinking about crazily for the last week. Thank you so much for letting me talk about this. Putting this under readmore because it got. Ridiculously long. Im so sorry

if i think too hard about early highschool years joyce i get so sad and insane. theres just something so tragic about that space in between childhood and the loss of that innocence.

the kelly sisters are probably around half the age of joyce so i think their maturity hitting right as joyce was going into highschool was kind of the perfect storm in a really awful way. i dont think they were ever close with joyce, and its not like they had family dinners or anything but i dont think they were always quite so malicious? i think they messed with her but weren't quite so. much. before their tween/teenager years, mostly just leaving her out of activities and such.

i think middle school was Bad for joymac. realllll bad. it's always the worst for everyone but it's sort of that age in 7-8th grade when you're not supposed to be that close to people you arent dating, and romance becomes important. i think for a long time mac still protected her and stuck hip to hip with her, and she never really cared about what people thought but she still could tell people judged them and didnt like it, but didnt fully internalize it like mac did.

going into highschool i think was a turning point for their friendship, a kind of dynamic switch as mac tries to add being Cool into his personality separating himself from her in that way. he's hitting that point where he's really free falling into his internalized homophobia and it's affecting his relationships. he's still close and touchy and dependent with her in private but its much harder for him to do in public, which I'd think makes her pull away in turn because that hurts y'know? people being ashamed to be her friend when she's already dealing with straight up bullying in school just feels like punching down when she's already stuck.

dennis joining their friend group is Awkward at first. its weird. i think he first meets them awkwardly trying to get weed or running into them somehow, and slowly weaves his way into their lives and it's hard for all of them in different ways? mac is overjoyed theres a cooler person in their friend group but is still closed off in a way that kind of pisses dennis off, but joyce is so open and non judgemental that dennis doesnt know what to Do with it. i think undeniably joyce is jealous as hell because in his attempt to be badass he just switches his codependency from joyce to dennis and doesn't recognize it. slowly the three of them become less of joymac or macden and just the gang, ronnie the rat dirtgrug and the golden god smoking awful weed under the bleachers but it takes work to get there. where joymac are soulmates in some way whether they want to or not, macden are connected in some fucked up way with secret whispers and linked fingers in the dark, and joyden are purposeful connection - putting effort into being kind to one another in a way neither of them normally do.

i think joyce doesn't know what to do with herself in highschool, kind of floating aimlessly during the day, eating whatever spider adriano hands her, waiting til the sun sets to hold macs hand and have him help with the homework she can't figure out how to read. in that space i think she latches onto the reynolds twins in a weird way none of them know exactly what to do with. dee and him chat awkwardly while macden are in the room alone talking in hushed tones and blushing, they sit together a kind of weird girls connection neither of them ever particularly wanted, but a connection both of them needed if that makes sense? they arent Best Friends like the others but they have some sort of understanding of their mutual ostracization from the world. mac was always there for joyce no matter what but i dont think he particularly understood some of what was happening? he knew it was bad but they were little kids with terrible guardians, but i think dennis was the first person to recognize what was really happening with joyce and uncle jack and have a like. genuine connection over that trauma no one else fully Gets, mirrors of each other in an awful way.

i think over time long term mac gets over some of his hangups, especially after graduation when the twins leave for college and its just joymac against the world again but joyce never quite is as open as when they were kids until later on. i think it takes a while to build back up the comfort levels but no matter what mac is always joyces best friend, she's just not sure she's his for a long time in those growing years and she harbors, not resentment because she could never ever hate him, but a sort of deep sadness over it. in my mind especially post him coming out and Especially her coming out they're more comfortable holding hands in public and laying on one bed together again but for a long time i think theres a sort of mutual sadness of them not being able to have what they had as little kids with no one judging them

So kiki is a Jedi General in the GAR, but right before the war starts, she and her master were doing anti-slave work all throughout the republic and non-Republic. Thats what her entire padawanhood was dedicated to.

So teh war starts, and she still has contacts across the galaxy to all these anti-slave efforts. she recognizs imemdiately that the clones are in fact a slave army. she gets to work setting up ways for them to escape the GAR--contacts in the GAR, safe houses, escape routes, fake IDs, etc. most of them get sent to verocia

so this is all very stressful. there are successes, yes, but there are also close calls and some failures. she takes all of them kind of personally. she's not good at letting her emotions out so she tends to push through everything until she cracks.

its hard. she has her best friend and her cousin involved. at one point her sister gets involved, but there are things kiki cant reveal to them because its too sensitive and the risk is too high. she literally kills a Jedi to keep the network secret. the pressure of it is building on her every day.

her favorite Jedi master is a man named Bernie (created by @jaigeye mwah) and he's been an amazing mentor to her for her whole life, especially in areas where her own master failed. but she can't talk to him. she cant tell him anything. she needs someone to be able to confess everything to--how isolating this is, how sometimes it doesnt even feel right even if the clones thank her a million times, how sometimes she wishes she could stop, how terrified she is that the whole thing will be exposed and the political and social blowback will be greater than she anticipated, etc. sometimes she lays awake at night thinking of the close calls and thinking of the gaps in the machine of it all and she can't breathe.

so for Kiki, it's righteous work, its good work, but its isolating. her best friend and fwb Hahkin feels more fulfilled helping with the network than she does fighting in the war. kiki's cousin sunlaou is loyal to kiki to a fault, so he'd be following her regardless.

and yeah me using a million words to describe how kiki isnt big on romance and she kinda likes it but she hesitates and she sometimes feels it a lot and sometimes its like nothing but the love is still there but Different....when this whole time what I meant was Greyro (the other side of her sexuality coin is that she's bi). so when she's developing her relationship with Jax, she has to parse all of her feelings about relationships, especially the deep romantic ones, and figure out how much of it is residual Jedi Hang Ups, how much is her own fear of commitment (too used to isolating) and how much of it is literally her being Meh on romance 95% of the time.

Its possible but at the moment Sarada just seems genuinely focused on her dream of becoming Hokage and views romance as an after thought, this has been shown time and time again whenever the topic is brought up, shes just generally annoyed and uncomfortable with it and is always in a hurry to change subject.

Sarada even calls out Ada's obsession with romance as stupid, then awkwardly lies and says she gets it and that she thinks it happens to everyone when they find true love which is the opposite of what she really thinks.

But thats not to say Sarada isnt interested in romance at all, its just simply not a main focus for her because right now achieving her goal of becoming Hokage is her top priority, but theres still been times we see Sarada is totally interested in the concept of romance, starting with her own parents.

Gaiden was all about her struggling with the relationship between her parents and eventually beginning to understand it once she actually saw them interact and was overjoyed to hear her father say that their feelings are indeed connected and that SHE is the proof of that, for if they did not love eachother then she wouldnt exist which brought Sarada to tears.

She also likes watching romance movies as seen in the anime and is really invested in it, getting emotional the same as Chocho, and she got angry at Boruto afterwards when he was unable to understand the nuance of it and didnt think they [the movie couple] were inlove.

So Sarada is indeed interested in romance but it is not a top priority for her, its something shes very much aware of but isnt interested in actively pursuing right now in her life which is understandable especially since shes aiming for a high position like the Hokage.

So do I think she has hidden feelings for Kawaki? at this point in time no, there could be blossoming feelings sure but nothing concrete as of yet since unfortunately there hasnt been enough time [in the manga] to really build on their relationship for a while since unfortunately Sarada has been pushed to the background for most of the recent arcs, but I do believe the possibility is there just not at this very moment, which isnt a bad thing since I dont want her romance to be rushed and underdeveloped.

So for right now all I can say is that its a possibility, but currently I believe her feelings are still developing and that ppl who keep asking her how she feels are making it harder for her to even think about it for herself since she keeps being pressured into thinking she likes someone she doesnt, so even if she did like Kawaki already I doubt she'd be able to notice it right away because everyone keeps turning her off from the subject altogether and keep shoving her towards Boruto who she keeps rejecting, but nobodys asked her how she feels about Kawaki yet so she hasnt even had the chance to think about what her feelings might be for him in that regard.

That could be intentional or coincidental, who can say really, but its some food for thought.

Summary:

neural pruning is when neurons die, but like, intentionally.

no, i do not mean intentionally as in "i intentionally killed my brain cells by consuming substances such as alcohol." i mean it in a brain development context- when ur a little baby child, you have a shitton of neurons. you still have a shitton of neurons btw but you had a Bigger shitton when you were a baby (technically speaking you had the Biggest shitton before you were born due to prenatal brain development and apoptosis but whatever it doesnt matter)

so. lots of baby neurons doing their baby neuron thing. except this costs a lot of energy! so then you hit puberty and your brain's like "okay this is fucking untenable like look at how much energy we're wasting here" and cuts certain connections by getting rid of some neurons that weren't really getting used but WERE using energy. so then the remaining neurons shuffle around to increase efficiency in communication bc theyre closer together now

so. you finish puberty and you look back to when you were a child and youre like "man i was dumb." but you werent dumb. you had neural connections you didnt use then (and dont use now) that made things slower and less efficient in terms of the way you think now

Sasha takes his hand.

He stands up as he pulls her upright, moving just enough to free her a little at a time, probably to keep her aware of the fact that she's still at his mercy. They're still in Tim's apartment, and if anything happens, he can claim self-defense, legally speaking- of course, that's assuming that she'll try anything. She won't even breathe wrong right now, not with how tense this all is, not with how scared Tim clearly is, no matter how well he hides it. She knows him better than almost anyone, she can tell when he's afraid.

She loved him, once, in a way that she doesn't think most people would call love, in that classical fairytale way. Still does, sort of. She trusts him, less than she did before, but she still cares about him. He wanted her in that way, he once liked her in that way, and Sasha had tried to let him down easy instead of telling him she'd never reciprocate, but it turns out she failed in that too. She thinks that if she ever felt what everyone else calls "love," the real storybook romance stuff, she would feel it for Tim; but she doesn't, and she hasn't, and she doesn't think she ever will.

She thinks that might be part of the reason why she doesn't feel betrayed the moment he puts the knife against her wrist. It's lighter this time, there's less pressure on it, but the threat to her life is still very much present.

"I don't know what your game is. I don't know what the hell you think you're trying to pull, but if I find out you're exactly what I thought you were? I'll make your death as long and painful as I possibly can." Tim stares her dead in the eye, and says every single word with cold intent. There's nothing warm left in his voice, nothing of the man in the pub a few hours ago, only a man who is completely and totally willing to get blood on his hands.

Again, she nearly adds to that, but the first time doesn't count. It was in the future, after all, and Tim hasn't even met his murder victim yet. It's not right to hold it against him now, no matter how much she reflexively brings it up in the back of her mind.

Besides, he's justified- more so than he was the last time, anyway. He's justified in his fear and suspicion, all he knows about any of the real kinds of monsters is that there are things that pretend to be people but just a little off, and all of a sudden she shows up in the Archives and she's got different colored eyes? She's surprised he hasn't outright killed her yet. He's probably more impulsive with people he doesn't know as well.

"I'm not. I'm still- I'm still me, I promise. I promise." Her voice is shakier than she wants it to be, too quiet for her liking, but she doesn't look away from Tim's gaze, just holds the same stare as he is. She doesn't say that she's still human; in a technical sense, she's closer to human than a mannequin, which is what he's looking for, but she doesn't think she can call herself fully human anymore. She's done things that no human should do, a hundred thousand times over, for better or for worse, and now she can't rightfully consider herself one of them. A reflection of a refraction, maybe. A copy of a copy of herself as she should have been.

"Prove it." Tim doesn't hesitate to dismiss her word. Why shouldn't he? Why should he trust promises that are, as far as he knows, empty? His voice is quieter, but no less harsh than it was a moment ago. She doesn't know why it hurts more than the knife he's still holding to her wrist- maybe because the knife isn't cutting her, barely even touching her, and his grip on her hand is just firm, not overly tight.

The nerves around the cut on her throat send pain signals to her brain. She ignores them. The stinging isn't anything compared to the things that aren't scars anymore.

How can she prove it, though? How can she prove that she's still herself, beyond what she's already said? There's nothing she can think of as an argument. There's no concrete, golden proof that she can pull out, nothing that something else couldn't guess if it took her over. All there is is to prove that she's from the future, and that's easy and impossible at the same time. What would she tell him? Everything?

If only. No, she's alluded to future events enough that he knows what her story is. He knows she's going to claim she's from the future, and it's up to her to sell him on the truth.

"I'm from about three years in the future. Things... things have changed. A lot. My eyes are the least of it, if only you'd seen all the scars we both picked up- but that's beside the point, isn't it?" She waits for half a moment, waiting for an answer that she knows won't come, and then continues. "There's a Statement in one of the boxes near Jon's desk. It's by a man called Carlos Vittery, he was haunted by some sort of ghost spider. He's dead, so you can break and enter as you please, and in his old basement is where you'll find Jane Prentiss. You know who she is by now, right?" She shifts her tone easily to business. It's easy to Know where Vittery's Statement is, easier still to remember that as the place that Prentiss was hiding out before Martin found her.

"Yeah. Everyone does. You honestly expect me to believe all that?" He acts like he's caught her in a lie, but he doesn't so much as move anything other than his mouth. That's not enough to say he believes her, of course, but it is enough to say that he hasn't decided that she's lying.

"I'm not stopping you from going. What, do you think I'm secretly in contact with her, and friendly enough to give her a location that would be safe to hide out from police and everyone? We can go to the Institute right now and find the address if you'd like." She doesn't keep being all cooperative without at least a little bit of attitude. Does he really believe she can just manipulate things like that? He doesn't, of course not, not unless he's deluding himself.

He hesitates. He keeps hesitating, for longer than she thinks he should, before finally taking the knife away from her wrist and helping her actually stand. The knife doesn't leave his hand- he doesn't trust her, not yet, which is fine because she doesn't quite trust him either, not so much as to believe he wouldn't kill her under the right circumstances- and he backs away by a single step.

"We're leaving in the morning." He says, and she knows he's calling her bluff. She would do the same thing in his shoes, really, so she shouldn't feel it get under her skin the slightest little bit.

"Can I go home, or am I sleeping over?" She doesn't ask if she's being held captive; there are enough clothes of hers over here anyway, from various nights in his bed- without a hookup- that it would almost be like being held prisoner in her own home. She's not even going to word it like that if she can help it.

"The couch is comfortable enough." Tim says, and she really shouldn't have thought it would be any different.

(Re)writing Fruits Basket

Thanks for the ask, anon, this was something i would like to talk about before so i am glad you did :)).

There are things that definitely should’ve changed/never happenned in Fruits Basket. Also there are things that could’ve been better and the things i personally would like to change so here we go.

I think we should’ve seen more insight of Tohru. After all, she is the main character. I wish she take the control of her own story and become the narative of it, instead of hearing everything from other characters. We also should explore the side of her that she saw dirty, that she would do anything to feel secure because i think showing characters capable of being dark makes them more real and human. It should’ve happenned with Tohru too. This side of her should’ve been more explored.

Tohru should’ve treated more realistic, not everyone realize her pain and kindness and they shouldnt keep narrate her as if she is angel, its unrealistic. Because not everyone can love everyone, no matter how good you act, most people wont realize it and its okay. So basically that ‘main character’ and ‘shoujo’ power shouldnt happen. She is just a normal girl and she should’ve been treated that way. Tohru’s unhealthy behaours such as toxic positivity and people pleasure should’ve been adressed and she should learn to deal with her feelings better. That she stop smilling always and let her feelings be free.

And i think her parallels with Akito should be one of the biggest focus in story than romance.

Before continue, i would like to erase or at least adress every toxic and exist ideas in story. Just imagine that they all gone. Its a story about invidual’s importance than sacrificing their happiness for everyone, that its both important. Just imagine that they all adressed one by one and characters find the right ways. Because being ‘good’ person doesnt make you less toxic or justifiable. Its about challenging yourself every day so characters also should face consequences of their actions, not just one character.

Tohru’s besties Hana and Uo are still protective of her cause she make them worry but they are not overprotective or at least, later they should realize that they made Tohru more fragile by constantly trying to protect her.

The rivalry between Kyo and Yuki was more dramatic and brutal than comedy relief. Because the tension between them would be more than just comedy and simple fight.

I think Momiji is really cute little boy (kinda reminds me of Misha from Vnc). Foolish traveler story doesnt exist, he just mentions that Tohru’s kindness is not her being stupid to others and he wants them to realize her because in this story, not everyone realize her. He relates Tohru about this cause others dont realize him either in a way.

He is very fond of her and projects her mother issues on her, thats why he feels jeolous of Kyo, he doesnt want to loose his mother figure. He never view her as romantic interest. + Momiji doesnt really change when he become teenager like that.

Kana didnt loose her mind cause of what Akito said because thats ridicilous. Who would care random teenager’s words and loose their minds? Some maids blame on Kana for it, all the pressure around Kana made her give up and lead her to blame herself. Which is the side of story not many zodiac members know about.

Akito didnt try to kill Rin twice, the reason is its simply unnecessary. One time was enough for the plot. And it didnt happen with pushing from the window. (and its also pointless to get Rin hurt pyshically so its unnecessary). When Akito learnt Rin was going out with Haru, she put her to cat house and cut her hair. She put her there as punishment, later she let her go by thinking she understood her lesson. Its obviously traumatized Rin. Later, we met Rin with short hair at the first time. Later in story, we find out why her hair become like that even though it was shown as long in Haru and other zodiac members’s memories.

Kyo rejects Kagura and talk about how much uncomfortable he felt around her, that he doesnt love her cause she never give him a break, that she doesnt respect him as person, calling her out for her abuse. + Arisa never beats Kyo but just tease him as joke.

Ritsu was shown with his boy clothes when he was introcuded. He was seen as shy boy and at the end of story, he was shown in girl clothes as growth cause thats what who he really wants to be, that its okay to be himself, that he can enjoy with what he likes.

Haru had a love triangle type of relationship betwen Yuki and Rin and it actually adressed, instead of treating it as joke.

Rin and Haru never slept but they just kissed each others when they started going out. And actually they were more than just lovers, they were besties who supported each others. Also Rin never saw her body as something she can offer to others.

Ayame had a thing for Hatori and he is just besties with Mine.

Not every zodiac members like each others and they dont do that banquet meeting anymore cause they dont need it, they are free. Story also should’ve adressed other character’s flaws too, not just certain ones. And it shouldnt been treated as comedy relief.

Rin also gets friends outside of Tohru at school and after Tohru and Kyo talk, Rin and Kagura understand each others more and gets closed, like sisters.

And when Haru learnt that what Akito did, thats when he got mad. Also other zodiac members learn it later and feeling bad for not realizing sooner. Not just them, it even make Tohru uncomfortable so her lack of empathy towards Akito increase too.

Kureno always saw Akito as cute younger sister or even like his own daughter so naturally, he never had romantic or sexual desire for her. He witnessed her suffering and he decided that he had to protect her, even it means ignoring other people’s suffering. Because to him, his younger sister’s happiness was more important than anything. He also felt responsible for her.

And Kureno and Uo didnt have some kind of love story. Arisa had one sided crush/interest cause he was looking like male version of Tohru but Kureno never see her that way. Tohru wanted to see him cause she thought he needed to be saved too. The reason why Kureno decided to talk with Tohru because he saw her positive effect on zodiac members and decide to talk about his and Akito’s side of story. At the end, Kureno had a last talk with Akito at hospital. They talked about their feelings and suffering. And Kureno decided to leave for a while. They both wished happiness for each others.

Shigure, just like Kureno never really had romantic or sexual feelings for Akito but he was obsessive with her. At first, it was shown as he was obsessed with Akito, this is why he got jeolous of his secretive relationship with Kureno. He didnt sleep with Ren but he helped her in some authority cases, this is why Akito told him to leave from here. Then Shigure to decide to use zodiacs for his goal and after some time pass in story, we learn that what he was truly obsessive about was the connection between god and zodiac members.

Because of his neglective family and his position as zodiac in Sohma Place made him search a reason to live. He thought that he could achieve it by being the ‘special one’ for god so he used everyone for the sake of it. He is still the same jerk. But at the end, after the curse, he felt empty. At the end, he realized that what truly gave meaning to his life was his connection with zodiac members, not the ‘bond’ but it was too late because he used them as tool and in the end, most of them left him too. After all, actions have consequences. He also gets punched.

Katsuya was a few years older than Kyoko, they were in same high school. Katsuya’s father realized that Kyoko needed help so he let her live in their house to become family which lead Katsuya and Kyoko’s falling in love with each others. Then years later, they get married and have Tohru.

Akito never really fall in love with anyone, she was just really confused with her relationship with parents, maids and zodiac. She was acting flirty unconciously cause of Ren. She unciously imitate her mother’s seductive behavours sometimes.

Hana never had any interest on Kyo’s father even as joke but she casually tease him about Tohru. But when she randomly saw Akito at school, she found her hot without knowing who she is.

Kyo never witness Kyoko’s death. We dont need two death story to make it tragic. Its also cliche. Kyo met with Kyoko when he ws young but he never saw her death. When he found out that Tohru was her daughter and she id dead, she felt regret without ever telling her to goodbye.

(Honestly, maybe it would’ve been better if Tohru didnt end up with Kyo, instead they are just very close friends/they just became like that in the end).

EDIT; Ok, i think i would make AkiTohru canon, thats far better than this. Also, i would make KyoYuki canon too cause Tom and Jerry are belong to each others and should be together and Tohru would be the one of the biggest ship of it. Yep this way, its better. And the idea of ‘eternity’ with Akito should happen just like Ei’s story in Genshin Impact too. Yep, yep, this way better.

I also think there should be another character besides Tohru who can be actually parental figure for zodiac members. Tohru’s taking mother role at young age is unhealthy and it would be very limited so there should be one more character besides her to help them. Maybe Kazuma can be one or another person who can fulfill that role.

Rin should’ve meet with Akito after Akito’s change and Rin lash out and scream about her pain and how she will not forgive Akito. I think they both need this talking at least. Akito also cries too by hearing, it lead her to understand the suffering her actions caused to others. Akito’s crying made Rin surprised. She doesnt forgive her there but now, she understands her change and why others are open minded about Akito. And they both just leave.

Story was longer than it actually was. We saw about the Sohma place people more and Tohru met with them and it actualy broke her, even lead her to act angry sometimes. And actually seeing parents like that made her feel so sad and frustrated.

Also story focus on more actual villains of story, abusive parents and how much it hurts their children. This part of story should’ve been adressed more. And their children should realize this too, that they also dont have to forgive them and they can have life without them too.

We should get more side of Akito. Since she was a character who will eventualy get redemption and the real curse is not just zodiac’s, its also her side, it is important. We get backstory of how she was groomed since her young age, as the lead of that place, as god, as ‘special one’ and how maids take advantage of her. Even after her encounter with Tohru, we get see her struggling and suffering more. Story doesnt end there.

After reaching out to Akito, Tohru request Akito to end the curse and Akito says she doesnt know how. Eventually they all become free, when they let go including Akito herself. It happens later.

At the hospital scene, when Akito asks ‘Why they they help me? Why are they kind to me? Why are you kind to me?’ to Momiji and he answers with ‘Well, you needed help so....isnt it only natural?’ with a smile on his face.

We see how sohma people start blaming on Akito for not being ‘proper’ leader. Even Ren tried to kill her. Which eventually made zodiac members realized that curse wasnt just on them, it also hers too as ‘god’. Because of Ren attempting to kill Akito, they realize that Akito cant stay here cause she cant even protect herself cause of guilt. She stays in mental hospital, gets help and Tohru and Hanajima often visits her. Later, Akito having a normal life with her friends at outside.

Since Tohru meets with Akito a lot, Kyo and Akito see each others a lot, (since they are friends), they even become actually friends. Sometimes Kyo tease her by calling her god and her change. It also kinda make Akito embrass about it and smile. After all, cat and god was supposed to be close but Akito and Kyo only become friends after they stopped being cat and god so it was funny too.

Tohru and we audience learn more about the old zodiacs and how much brutal it was even in past. Past gods were even more cruel since it was old times. Tohru doesnt just stay in house and coincidently meeting with zodiacs, she also takes action to look for them and learn more about the curse and of course, she is really curious of them too.

Everyone eventually get to learn actual curse of story.

And maybe this is just me but i would like this story to happenned in fantasy world, idk i think it would be more interesting. With a little more magic, more drama and action, it would be really amazing, i think.

Well, i could write more and more but you get the point. This is my version of it. Its a lot more fun. I imagine something like this, its a lot better, i think. There might be things i forgot to say but for now thats it.

4 Anti LO Asks

1. like ok, a character doesnt need to be super specific in what they like, but its just weird persephone has nothing? like we saw her read what, three times? ad she played chess once? but thats it? but shes still not fleshed out. we dont know her actual likes, her dislikes, her interests and hobbies and the life. even bella swan had specific books and music she liked, meanwhile persephone has nothing? its odd its been going for nearly 4 years and she's still so undeveloped after all this time.

2. So, in regards to LO and 'purity culture' I feel like RS either doesn't understand the concept very well or just doesn't care?? At least in terms of how she presents her work.

So, RS said somewhere (I think) that she wants LO to be seen as progressive and feminist and that LO is supposed to be a commentary on modern society and how young women / girls face the pressures of purity culture - and yet...

From a storytelling pov - Persephone and Hades are both dressed as a bride and groom constantly (or are made to wear similar styles and colors that mimic this idea) - and perhaps the color white has a different signifiicance in Greek culture (if anyone knows, feel free to jump in) - but in American culture at least its a symbol of virginity, purity, goodness etc. (Lets just ignore the racial undertones for a second there).

Also storywise Persephone only seems allowed to be attracted to Hades (in a good light, in contrast to say, Ares and her interactions with him) because Hades is her future husband and vice versa she is his future wife.

So theres some implications there along with some undertones about how the only 'good' man that persephone is allowed to like, flirt with, have experience with is the man who will eventually become her husband.

Also, (I dont know how to explain this well) but the only other 'romantic' relationship / experience Persephone has is with Apollo (who is a rapist).

So with the purity culture commentary in mind it seems like RS wants to say that women should be allowed to explore their sexuality and dress how they want etc etc but the message then becomes rather flat because RS seems to be inadvertently leaning into those ideas - such as having Persephone dress as a bride (and have white - a symbol of purity - be her 'signature color' and only allowing Persephone to have positive interactions with the man who will become her husband. Every other male character serves to push her into the arms of 'the allowed / chosen / true one' for her. She doesnt get to have any other options in regards to partners. She has no other experience with dating or romance other than the guy she's supposed to / allowed to be with and the man who raped her.

So it seems like RS is trying to make a commentary on purity culture and how it can effect young women/girls and such but the message just seems to fall flat because the writing seems to state otherwise.

Persephone is good and pure (if not naive) and so she is cloaked in a sense of childish awe at 'the real world' and she grows up sheltered yet has everything nearly handed to her on a plate. She is a future queen and bride to be so she wears a virginal white.

The problem I see is that there's too many clashing ideals and visual metaphors trying to be turned on its head.

Sorry for not explaining this well, but Thoughts??

3. i dont like the idea hades and persephone should have kids (punderworld and theia mania comics avoid it, hxp ficlets and mythos redone did include kids as background) but if lo has them have kids when persephone is still basically a kid herself and tbh doenst seem to want any based off her nightmares of pregnancy thatll be so bad?? at least the above comics all made a point their persephones are many centuries old w/ lives before hades, not barely 20 who only left her mom's house a month ago 🙃

4. Wait, was the goddesses of eternal maidenhood plot supposed to be the anti- purity culture stuff? Cause like.... Isn't it pro-female sexuality for a bunch of goddesses to reject sex by their own choice? Isn't the point of it to be able to chose to be sexual if you want to? Is the message here really "YOU MUST BE SEXUALLY AVAILABLE TO A MAN OR YOU'RE NOT FEMINIST"??? Cause that message is very, VERY ace-exclusionary.

Watched a let's play of Purgatory and Purgatory 2 and MAN it was a wild ride. Like the change from game 1 to the second is HUGE.

Obviously, i enjoyed the second game more than the first one.

Kinda still hoping that Ebel becomes a demon somehow. I think he deserves it. Also while i liked Neun, i didnt like the sexual harassment jokes she just threw around and that her "romancing" route is the True Ending. I personally think that Enri is a way better match, because she and Ebel complement each other and he is able to understand her without pressuring to do something she doesnt like. He honestly respects her and it's shown that they both care for each other deeply. Im hoping that for the third game we get the true ending with them. And this is not against Neun, but she literally fits the trope of "im not human, teach me, coincidentally only dude in the room, how to be one and get close", even if she is shown to have a better understandtment of the human condition and that she was human before. I would have preferred for Ebel and Neun to just develop a good friendship, specially since in one of the dialogue options that are supposed to make you choose in going into her romance route or not, Ebel never implies with neither options that he feels something for her. The most is that he feels fondly of her.

So yeah, good game tbh, cant wait to see if our protags manage to fight the corruption of the kingdom....but i just really hope that the romance part is handled better.

From far away: thoughts

Welp I finished Kanata Kara. What a rollercoaster. I’d sum it up with;

Like ngl I got a little misty eyed. Yes its cheesy and fluffy and shojo but I think especially during these times, shojo is whats needed. Hell, I think the overall message of Kanata Kara is very important and relevant to 2020; about how everyone is connected and even small acts of kindness has a ripple effect. The way they defeated the villain could be considered disappointing for some, but I think it suited the series perfectly. It’s exactly how Noriko and Izark would act. It’s a perfect example of how an ending should suit the world you’ve crafted and you shouldn’t be pressured to take the standard path with storytelling if it doesnt suit your characters. Idk I thought it was neat.

Noriko:

It featured a really cute protag. I enjoyed her, even if I somewhat wanted her to learn how to fight she still contributed and was pivotal during the final fight. Noriko adapted to her situation and that’s something to commend, considering she’s thrust into another world like your usual isekai fantasy. It was refreshing that she didn’t know the language and I LOVED the fashion in the different world.

Izark:

Izark starts out as your typical cold male lead but DAYME this boy has so many emotions. It’s so friggin rewarding seeing him slowly learn how to trust and open up to Noriko but you can see his kindness shining through even in the first chapter. I love that he smiles and laughs more later on due to spending time with her. Like have you ever seen a warrior sink to his knees under the weight of how much he loves a girl? Peak romance, we stan.

This isn’t even getting into the side characters and like there’s so many memorable ones! They all contribute to the story. Like even the mayor from the first volume has a little backstory to let you understand where he’s coming from and how he acts. Each character is given just enough to flesh them out despite the simple adventure story structure. It makes the world feel very lived in.

Just overall dayme I wish this had an anime, but even with 25 episodes I’m not sure they could cram in everything. It’s a really sweet old manga that I hope more people check out, its been such a cute read for me during lockdown.

fiveya obvs i ship this since this is 90% of my tua drawings lol

1. ill wait ill wait (to be the one) by georgiestauffenberg made me ship it cause holy fuck dude. I dont know if i ship them romantically when i saw them onscreen cause first of all, age difference is kinda weird lmao. Second, they dont rlly interact much outside literally the first couple of eps. But he was so soft for her, and i felt like they had so much unexplored history.

so i looked at fanfics cause i was wondering if ppl still ship it, then i liked the description of this one so i gave it a go.

Basically the premise is that vanya dates a much older man who seems to know a lot about her. And it was amazingly in character and just provided their characters some depth that u wouldnt find outside of a romantic relationship between them. (The implication of five pining while she doesnt know who he is, their missed chances when he time travelled, fives missed chances of living and having a 'normal' life bec of his own hubris, vanyas insecurity and being able to open up bec shes with someone whos known her since childhood). Its so sweet and thats how i was like, oh yep i can do so much more with these two, and what has kept me interested in drawing them etc.

2. My favourite things are the shippers cause i made some friends in the fandom who are super cool and supportive! I dont get super involved in fandoms and usually just watch from afar so finding people to talk to and muck around with in this tiny fandom is super cool 😭

Though thats not to say I havent come across some bad apples in this fandom and things that I dont like. I think thats the importance of carving out a place for yourself and ur friends in fandom tho.

Another thing I like about the ship itself, i just like the grumpy person whos soft for one person trope. Its so cute. I like all the little clues in canon on how their relationship as kids is quite warm, which is interesting cause five is basically the star student and he can be quite cold vs vanya who is the black sheep of the family.

I also like how five likes her powers even when she caused the apocalypse he spent the majority of his life in lol. Like its a popular hc that five is just a wife guy and i love that.

I see vanya as the type who has a lot of love to give, and she sometimes has unrealistic expectations of what her partner can give. Betrayal and lies really angers her, but also when her partner cannot meet her expectations of love she gets very upset bec its also an indication of how shes not good enough, or not loveable enough to be able to have this in the relationship (her insecurity means every failing always comes back to her, even if its out of her control).

I feel like five would be a level-headed person enough in the relationship to not be afraid to say 'vanya ur being stupid' (ie. the s2 confrontation lmao). Also, five's personality means she will never have to doubt his actions bec she knows hes the type who will not give u the moment of the day if hes not interested.

Not to mention they also have the whole apocalypse vs. saviour, hero/villain thing. Theres just a lot to explore!

3. I probably have several. But mostly I dont mind five being a dick to vanya bec first, even if the appeal is hes soft to her hes already kind of a dick in canon lmao. Also, vanya isnt a child. Shes grown and she can handle petty af things like five telling her shes not good at cooking lol. I also dont mind it cause I feel like people are getting too afraid to write... conflict for fear or portraying an abusive relationship or smth. Like, chill. Conflict is fine, resolving it is how u get a story. However in saying that, nobody should be obligated to write any way unless you want to! Fanfic is for comfort so if what your doing is making u happy then its good enough!

horrance which i also ship but i love the platonic and romantic relationship equally:

1. I came in tua in general not shipping anything so Im honestly not sure. I do remember someone doing a meta before s2 came out that was basically how ben acted weird when klaus summoned dave in s1 that made me go 👀 Otherwise, tua s2 rlly made me like them cause tua FED horrance shippers. Like..... the fact that klaus didnt want ben to leave him, and ben knows thats why he stayed 😢 or the fact that klaus was all over him for some reason???? Somebody also mentioned gay ben once and I resonate with that deeply. Like i get that jill exists but i resonate with gay ben deeply.

2. I love their bickering, theyre so cute together. I just like ben being angry bec hes self aware that hes got both shit and amazing taste. Shit bec he cant believes he likes Klaus (and also amazing also bec Klaus). I think the idea of them being kind of underdogs, theyre not rlly leader types and dont want to be, helps them bond together even in platonic horrance. They're both down to earth, and even tho they can annoy each other, they also know if they want a space to feel comfortable its with each other. Theyre not pressured by rivalry over leadership, or any sort of competition.

I love the idea that even tho ben is like klaus's ''conscience'', hes also down for chaos and bitchy. I feel like klaus rlly enabled that side of him, its not exactly a good thing but its p funny lol

3. I know some people think their dynamic is unhealthy but i dont care lol

alluther. So id say i dont ship this, mostly due to the fact that im not invested? Just like all tua ships so far I rlly came out not wanting anything but platonic relationships cause I feel tua doesnt do romance very well. With alluther, theyre so cute but im not super invested in either of their chars so they havent stuck for me. I appreciate seeing them and talking about them tho, and I'm def open to exploring them further.

1. I think tua canon romances are just so lackluster 😔 Idk who writes the romances but I was just like 'nice' but afterwards I dont really think about them. I love their dance scene and the message behind it! Otherwise, theyre sweet like most of the tua romances but im not super invested, same with all the non canon ships.

2. I really feel like tua needs to decide on what their relationship is. Like, just say its incest or not and stick with it 👀 Or if you wanna support it or not, just make up ur mind. I think I would've liked it better if I found the characters more interesting. Allison especially I feel like suffers from the fact that tua just doesn't want to make her ''mean''. They want to make her supportive and are less interested in making her flawed (ie. she should've had a conflict with Vanya in s2, but the writers didnt want to write the girls fighting which is stupid imo and not what that conflict is about).

In regards to Alluther, the scene where Allison gets annoyed at Luther for sleeping with someone else felt out of line. Like, how are you marrying other people and moving on but Luther isn't allowed to? But honestly, I don't mind if they actually just acknowledge it and make it a deliberate part of Allison's trait that Allison can expect a certain loyalty automatically from other people (which can tie in to her childhood being a star, and the rumour).

Luther is a big simp for Allison, which is sweet, but at the same time it would be nice to have him explore himself for a bit, and who he is outside of the academy. Then maybe they can rekindle their relationship again as new people and see where they go from there.

3. I don't hate them, but they're ok. I'm not super invested in them, just like all the tua canon romance. But I wouldn't mind making content for them if I were a bit more invested in their characters. I love their dance scene in s1 and I feel like its super a underrated portrayal of what their relationship is meant to be. I know no one talks about it but it's just such a great scene, and I'm pretty sure the choreographer was into interpretive dance? The scene had a lot of meaning that I don't see people dig around with.

Essentially I'm pretty sure the fairy lights are obviously a throwback to their childhood together, spending time outside of Reggie. So the dance scene kind of symbolized that pocket of space they made for each other in their life (even if theyre far away, or with other people, they will always have that space for each other).

The way they danced was more like playfighting than dancing, which means their relationship isn't sensual. It's more ''pure'', and romantic. Its basically two kids rekindling their love as adults. I also think this is a response to the incest, cause in s1 tua klaus literally said that 'thank god Regg is not their real father' right before Allison and Luther meet lmao. So its kinda like saying Allison x Luther isnt supposed to be 'ohh step sibling hot' but two people who experienced the same trauma as kids and finding comfort with each other (and rekindling that love after many years).

I was gonna write the romo attraction thing today but honestly i dont feel like doing it bc im just rlly upset about smth that im sure a lot of ppl can relate to

So my irl friend groups are very... well they dont know much about these kinds of things, i had to be a walking encyclopaedia for them about my identities like nb stuff bc they didn't bother to just... look it up.

When i told them i was trans they would say "omg are you actually trans?? I have a trans best friend!!" Yikes

Instead they would ask me to explain it. Which is fine, i kinda hate having to explain for the 5th time that no, using the correct terms and pronouns is not a fucking burden, and that yes, dysphoria is awful and wont just magically go away.

and when i tell them to yk, not use pronouns for me and just use my name instead, not 1 person did that. They just... misgendered me and used she/her when i explicitly told them that it makes me dysphoric. I then told them to use coo/coos/cooself instead bc i quite like it, but they still didnt use it.

Then i gave up and told them to use they/them since it doesnt make me dysphoric even tho i lowkey hate it. They still misgender me but said "they'll try to get used to it". Its not that hard guys what the actual fuck???

Anyway, i was actually going to talk about aspec stuff. So i only told one of them that i was demiromantic demisexual, and they said "wtf is that" which yk is not a nice way to react to someone coming out, but i have thick skin so i just explained it bc again they couldnt bother to search it, and they said "ok ig" and changed the subject when i wanted to explain my attraction???? I've never had anyone that i could talk to about my complicated feelings with being aspec and just when i thought i could i was shut down.

I thought it was over and done with, until they started to... ignore my fucking identity??? Which i would say is way more important and personal to me than my bisexuality??? They never did any of that bs with my bisexuality probably bc they were pansexual themself, but jfc is it that hard to not make jokes about me being horny or having a crush or joking about setting me up on blind dates??? It legit made me so uncomfortable and i have no idea what to say.

Bc remember, they didnt exactly respect my pronouns and kept using gendered terms to refer to me even more after i came out??? I swear it feels like its on purpose every time they called me a girl but whatever

Istg they forgot that im demi bc they keep making these jokes and ignoring that i dont feel sexual or romantic attraction like that and keep acting as if i want to date ppl or fuck them when i say they look pretty??? I spent way too fucking long mistaking my aesthetic attraction for sexual for ppl to once again reinforce this idea and im done with it. Please for the love of god stop it.

I said i liked wilbur and thought he was rlly cute and they then proceeded to, you guessed it, act like im in love with him or that i want to fuck him. First of all, hes a real person on the internet that i do not know, 2nd of all, fucking eww, and 3rd of all, hes a whole ass adult and we r both in high school. Yikes again.

Ofc i didnt tell them these things and just said that i dont like him that way and just thought he was pretty and nothing else. They completely ignored this and thought i was just embarrassed or smth or that i was in denial. Yikes again again.

So yeah. The only lesson i learned is to never come out as aspec to anyone irl ever again. Tbh i kinda want to tell them that im not bi and that i dont feel any kind of attraction. It would be a lie but christ i wish they would stop. They can validate my bisexuality but not my nb or aspec identities? I knew that queer sexualities were more normalized now which is awesome but why cant they do that for trans ppl or aspecs? Why does it have to stop there?

Sorry for venting like this but i thought this might be relatable for yall. Ive never had the experience of feeling "broken" bc of any of my identities, im very confident in them. I just wish other ppl other than my online friends would feel the same.

Also sorry for delaying the romo attraction thingy i just rlly dont feel like it rn. Idk when i will write it but hopefully if i feel better i will finish it today

Yee I've never felt broken either! I think an element of that is that I thought I was allo for a very long time? But on the other hand I was bullied in my childhood for not having attraction so idk why that hasn't manifested into a phobia of romance but eh I'm better off this way whether it makes sense or not.

It makes me happy as well cuz a lot of ppl in the community seem very pessimistic abt how we're treated but it's nice to know that not all of us feel broken cuz the 2 of us are living examples of that :)

But unfortunately yeah, your experiences above are things many ppl can relate to. I'm sure almost everyone can remember a time where they came out to someone and weren't met with good responses,,

Let this be a reminder that this is not right and we deserve more support for something so personal. Even if you don't understand someone's identity that doesn't give you the right to dismiss or ignore them. Our identities are very important and personal to us and supporting them is basic respect.

my thoughts on the lorien legacies reborn series [spoilers]

i think it sucked

i loved most of the characters to bits and they all deserved better (in terms of characterisation, plot)

nigel. oh my god nigel i love him so much

ran takeda deserved SO MUCH BETTER im still mad

the way they hinted at a whole bunch of romances but only made the one i dont give a shit about canon

i really really hate white girl taylor cook

yes, having a white american girl as the main character IS diversity :))))))

isabela is cool as shit and i wish i was her

i love their fleshed out backstories but i wish i couldve heard more

THERE WAS LITERALLY NO DEVELOPMENT IN MOST OF THEM (personally i think the series was cut short bc they all had so much more room to grow)

(it gave off percy jackson movies energy)

it hurts me how the writing hinted that nigel would get his heroic moment but he literally never did

and then nigel was left with what? his only best friend dead, his parents corrupt assholes and him still not having healed from his trauma- still the underdog

ALSO: NIGEL WAS THE ONLY CANONICALLY GAY CHARACTER (except for maybe daunphen but still that doesnt really count bc its only implied) but they just like. didnt give him a love interest.

nic was literally right there- that homoerotic moment really hit me and i just read it over and over

ran’s death was really well done but also COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE

if isabela had just told einar to stfu and shoot lucas it wouldve all been over and ran and five would still be alive

speaking of which, ran and five were a super cute couple/friendship i cant tell but i like their dynamic a lot

five saying that he “actually likes” ran is essentially a confession of love in his terms

caleb. i liked him. but he was so boring and straight. i think his development wouldve been great if they just DID SOMETHING WITH HIM

also idk whether to ship isabela with caleb or daunphen but personally i like to think of daunphen as trixic which is unrelated

caleb literally. had potential. troubled home life. not as bad as the others but he never really stopped being an uptight little bitch

if he had, i think he wouldve been great

I LOVED EINAR’S GROUP’S DYNAMIC

do they have a name? i feel like they do but i cant remember

like... what a mix of characters, i love how they work together

personally i think theyre just the gay friend group

on the topic of einar,

i KNOW i shouldnt love him the way i do but if you didnt want me to love him you SHOULDNT HAVE GIVEN HIM REDEEMING QUALITIES

(same with five)

literally einar’s final monologue hurt me so much even though he nearly did drown nigel in gen 1 but still

“will you- will you finally listen?” yea kill me now

i really hated how they brought the villain in in the final book. the fuck. who even gives a shit about lucas. no one remembers him

also it feels slightly political to make the main villain a radical christian who wants to convert the earth garde by killing them

i think he and isabela were a great friendship... of sorts

i mean did einar ever really let anyone close enough to him to make friends

but hes just so... S O F T

kopano really deserved a better gf than taylor

i think it wouldve been fitting if einar just ended it all since he kinda started the whole fiasco

the john and marina thing shouldve been forgotten completely no one ships them pls

they had their one true loves just let them be without an s/o thanks

ella deserved to have more screen (? its a book) time bc she was my favourite character in the original series

also the part where lucas (in the body of john) rips off his cybernetic arm really hurt me

writing one line on john and nine reuniting was cruel when you know most of the fandom ships them

also i like einar’s softening up near the end, and treating the group like they were his actual friends

i wish we couldve seen more of them

i love myself a found family ragtag group situation

even though 2 of them died

and the other has an inhibitor in his head, gets shocked every 3 minutes and took the fall for everyone

AS HE SHOULD THOUGH, MOST OF IT IS HIS FAULT

but hes just a kid

my thoughts are so scattered

omg stop i think i relate to einar... no..... not the literal mass murderer “terrorist” psychopath

he’s uptight and always needing to be in control

but he feels the pressure of having to be perfect to everyone else, and thus falls apart on the inside

gosh i wish i didnt love einar the way i do
