Armchair Psychology Anon (not a real Psych just notice patterns)
I dunno if you've seen the new poster for Brandon's new show, Class Acts? It's actually pretty melancholic and depressing.
The tag line is "its never too late to dig up dead dreams".
"Announcing my next series: He's been teaching how to achieve the dreams he can't, since 2009"
But the tombstones on the poster all reflect his inner fears as an artist/actor.
"Be taken seriously" "act better" "teach theater" "be a star" "be respected" "win an oscar" "make money" "find fame" "inspire someone" "be on TV" "find love" "make a difference" and so on
He's talked about having these feelings when Seeing Stars came out. Blitz breaking down about being on a show and not taken seriously as an entertainer as a child and an adult are definitely derived from Brandon's real feelings. I think that's why he was uncomfortable with Stolas (didn't he say he based him off his ex at one point?) being in a relationship with his character.
I've also noticed his social media posts aren't very lively. I'm not sure if they used to be, but he just seems very drained/depressed. The only happy posts I've come across are about his dog or family.
Hell, he just wished his friend Trevor Wallace, a happy birthday online. And this is what he said:
"Trevor it is your birthday."
And under the post, someone was kind enough to say: "Still love that you two are buds makes me hope for Trevor to have a guest spot on Helluva Boss"
This made me cringe. I'm sure it makes Brandon cringe as well.
He can never get away from these shows now.
The low views on his og content vs. his HB content must be depressing for him. I don't think he's particularly excited to be voicing Katie either. I think he's just taking a paycheck for it and hopes he can continue to stay relevant.
Viv probably had him do it to get away with saying misogynistic things. I'm very worried about it.
I think he used to do comedy shows around the US, too. I don't think he's done them in awhile? I really think Viv is sucking the life out of him.
I don't know how to feel about Brandon as I obviously don't know him, but his socials do say a lot to me. I can't help but feel like he could also potentially be a bad person (as you never really know anyone through social media), but as an artist myself, I can relate to his struggles.
If his depression is Viv related, then I hope he can find the strength to cut ties with her.
Jesus...that's absolutely fucking heartbreaking.
Whatever's behind Brandon seeming so down lately, people need to let him -- let everyone associated with this show -- breathe and stop treating them like gumball machines that dispense content. I don't care if HH/HB is your favorite thing in life and you think Vivzie is the second coming, let Brandon have a life and a career outside of Helluva Boss.

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of the time LO stans will constaintly shift the goalposts as to why you can't criticize the comic?
"You can't criticize the comic, Smythe is an indie creator!"
No she's not, her comic's the face of webtoon, and she has both multiple books released and merch being sold.
"You're just jealous that she's a bigger creator than you! That she's an Eisner award winner and you're not!"
If anything I'm just frustrated that Lore Olympus of all the god damned webcomics is the one being chosen to represent the medium. Why not Homestuck? For as confusing and full of flaws as it may be, it unironically revolutionized how/what the webcomic could be. If you want me to take LO seriously, as both a webcomic and an award winning book, than both fans and Smythe have to start acting like it.
"Smythe doesn't like criticism" fucking so??? You know who else didn't take criticism well?
Tumblr media
Jim Henson.
Henson quite literally would not have gotten the fame that he did had he plugged his ears every time he got criticism. As funny as it is to imagine a world where Henson got famous off of one of his earlier specials "Muppets Sex and Violence", it ultimately wasn't what made him so beloved in the eyes of many. It was only through criticism that "Muppets Sex and Violence" became "The Muppet Show".
I get not taking criticism well, I really do. When I got my comic criticized in a youtube video, I was unironically Howl Pendragon for the next half hour.
Tumblr media
Yes I knew that my comic was going to be criticized. Yes I was still dramatic over someone saying that my coloring and shading needed to be improved. After I was done sulking, however, I was able to grow as an artist, and ultimately improve my comic. Getting criticism can be hard, I get it. It can be especially hard when the criticism isn't some made up problem. It is still something that everyone has to go through. Smythe is not above criticism, no one is, but constaintly making up excuses as to why your favorite webcomic can't be criticized isn't going to help anyone.

Hi!! I’m sorry this took a while to get out, but thank you for your request! Now that it’s Summer I’ll be able to write more and quickly, so even though this is a bit rushed, I hope you like it :)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Pro!Shoto Todoroki x Reader
Warnings: fluff; like it’s basically just fluff; so proud of myself for being able to do a single one-shot without writing smut
Word Count: 0.8k
Tumblr media
The vibration of your phone rumbled over your table, effectively grasping your attention.
A bookmark was quickly placed within your novel, some murder-mystery series that Mina had recommended. While the writing was pretty good, you were almost sure that she enjoyed it primarily for the charming antihero, a move that you both respected and related to.
You picked up your phone, waiting a few seconds for the facial recognition to pick up on your features.
Flitting through a few reminders, you read your most recent notification, eyes lighting up.
“Sho!” You called, voice echoing through your shared apartment.
It only took a few moments for the bathroom door to open, steam slipping through the growing crack to reveal your fiancé. Times like this only reminded you how unconsciously angelical he was, damp hair falling over the scar adorning his features.
“Is everything okay?” He asked, head tilting in a way that was oddly reminiscent of how a confused dog would question his owner. “Did you get scared by the drying going off again."
A towel lay low on his hips, an extra detail that only caused you to momentarily forget why you called him in the first place.
Regardless, you shook the thought off, playfully rolling your eyes and holding your phone up for him to see. “That happened once. And no, look.”
Shoto blinked, gaze traveling from the device back to you. “Twitter?”
“Yes, baby, it’s Twitter, but that’s not what I meant.” You pushed it into his hands. “Scroll.”
He complied, bi-colored eyes scanning for anything that would've caused you to need him.
It took a few seconds for him to recognize the reason for your excitement, gaze flitting back up to meet your smile and outstretched hand.
“Pay up.”
Last year, 'The People's Hero Billboard Chart' had been the last thing on your mind.
At least, that was until Ochako called, her laughter bubbling over the line.
It was mainly run by online voting and polls, awarding the Pro's trivial titles such as 'Best Hair' or, your personal favorite, 'Most Likely To Secretly Be Dating a Villain.'
You never would have expected that Shoto would have been receiving that of 'Best Looking.'
Obviously, you weren't blind.
It was quite apparent that your partner was extremely attractive. However, you weren't exactly one to keep track of social media that didn't include funny animal and/or panda-shaped bread making videos.
But this was just another opportunity to appreciate what you already knew was true.
He wouldn't say it out loud, but the whisper of a smile gracing his lips gave some hint as to how much he enjoyed your doting, a desire that you were more than happy to indulge in.
Your actions sizzled off as the months went by, but it only took the reminder lighting up your screen to resume them.
Despite receiving a nomination, Shoto had waved away your harmless teasing, only leading for it to escalate, something that he only should've expected.
"Can you even win something twice in a row?"
You shrugged, mindlessly sorting certain silverware into its rightful spot. "For most things, I guess."
"Like what?" He asked, handing you another spoon.
"Uh..." You thought about it for a second, all prior knowledge on sports or artistic awards that could have provided an instance suddenly vanishing. "Like, maybe when Gryffindor wins all the damn time in Harry Potter."
"What's that?"
The dislike of your deficient, and fictional, example completely evaded you, the feeling immediately replaced by one that could only be described by blunt shock. "You're joking."
"No." He blinked. "Should I?"
"Yes, I seriously cannot wait to see the giant rock you've been hiding under." You playfully quipped, earning a low chuckle from the man behind you. "But regardless, I'm ready to bet anything that you'll win again. I'll give you whatever you want."
"But I already have everything I want."
His words made your heart flutter, a giddy smile creeping over your features. "There's really nothing that you want from me?"
Tilting his head, he took a moment before giving you a smirk that he only ever put on when you were alone. "I mean-"
Laughing, you nudged his shoulder, trying to hide the slight warmth bleeding into your cheeks.
It didn't matter what he asked of you.
You won.
He smiled softly, blunt honesty doing nothing to hide the subtle excitement hiding in his actions.
Taking your still-outstretched hand, he tossed your phone onto a pillow and pulled himself onto the covers beside you. He gently took your arm and moved it over his torso, your head now resting on his chest.
Shoto would've given you anything that you asked, regardless of whether or not you had won some silly bet.
But time spent with him was really all you wanted.

Hello, just wanna start this off by saying that I love your art. I've decided to ask my favourite artists for art tips as I wanna get into it, but no matter what I do it never looks right. So, any tips?
WARNING YOU JUST OPENED THE FLOOD GATES GET READY FOR A LONG ASS POST
WOOOOO BOY, first off huge fucking compliment i honestly didn't think i was anyone's favorite artist (despite what my friends say) and i find it super cool of you to try and draw
Anddd nowww the cowards will run out as soon as you read more
okay so first things first, disclaimer! I AM NO PROFESSIONAL BY ANY STANDARDS, IM JUST SUPER INTERESTED IN ART, DO NOT TAKE MY WORDS AS GOSPEL AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE MY WORDS OF ADVICE (you didnt say i was but just to cover my ass)
I am still learning as an artist so this will just be advice that helped me, lets just hope i can remember what got me here, and this will be just me jotting down my thoughts as they come so maybe im not the best person to come to about this (i may repeat what other people say in terms of art so bare with me)
SO WITHOUT ANYMORE DISCLAIMER! YOU WANT ART TIPS FROM ME? WELL GET READY FOR SOME BULLSHIT FROM A PERSON WHO'S BEEN SO ARTSY FARTSY IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE AND HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT, WELL COME INTO THE SHIT TRAIN!!
Now i dont know if you are an intermediate artist, beginner, need help in specific areas or whatever the hell else but! here's the three main points i always wanted to scream at artists who are just starting out!
Your art WILL look like shit in the beginning
References and inspiration are YOUR FRIEND
DONT be afraid to trace
(I know I know this feels like regurgitated and it probably is BUT HEY STICK WITH ME)
does your art looks fucking trash? THATS GOOD!! KEEP DRAWING!! My art looked fucking ugly when i started and some might say (me) it still does, but thats okay!! You learn more and more from just drawing without any tips, art is a pure skill that builds up, do not be discouraged!! The point of art isn't to be the greatest in the world, it's to be at peace with what you create so if your art looks good to you and you are in a happy place in your progress, you are basically successful in my eyes at least (this doesn't mean to quit learning obviously but it'll come in time, be patient, do not push yourself! that's how you stop loving art and we don't want that happening!)
Ever find yourself asking "man why the fuck does (include art shit here) not look accurate??" well here's a tip, USE REFERENCES! DO NOT BE LIKE ME WHERE YOU JUST WING IT OR ELSE YOU'LL BE CRYING OVER YOUR DRAWING TABLET LIKE I DID AT SOME POINT!! Pay attention to the shapes of the reference, break it down and draw over it if you need to, shapes are very important in art and you need to be able to draw whatever you want in the most basic forms (im no good example of this, i really need to practice more aughhh). As well as references, inspiration is KEY!!! Everything is inspired off each other, nothing is original, so steal from your favorite artists!! Look at their speedpaints, look at how they use colors, analyze how they draw anatomy in their style, see how they use shapes, etc etc, learn from who you consider are the "greats of their times"!! USE ALL THE INSPIRATION YOU HAVE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS!!LITERALLY COPY THEM IF YOU WANT EVEN IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DID THAT, YOU'LL LEARN WITH TIME!! just whatever you do, don't compare yourself so heavily against other artists, i know its hard, i do it myself even! If there is an artist who has a style you so so want, don't crumble if you can't draw in their style perfectly, you'll never win against someone in their art style. I suggest taking inspiration from multiple artists and mashing them together until it looks good in your eyes!!
That actually leads me to my next point! TRACING IS OKAY!! Now obviously I do not mean directly tracing over like some lines, showing it off/posting it and calling it completely original. I mean tracing over the references i mentioned before, or like what i said before, i believe you should actually trace from your favs! (don't call it original like i said before), tracing can help build memory on how to draw certain things like how i took a photo of my hands before, traced them, and then put it to the side to redraw it, making me understand futher how hands work! OR like how i traced a piece of art that i liked to understand how the artist drew their bodies, tracing is used by total professionals in the industry so do not be afraid!! You have total permission from me to trace my art and learn how to draw my wack ass bodies
and for a little extra bit, little bit of a hot take (I'm actually not sure how much of a hot take this is), i don't think you HAVE to learn the fundamentals to get into art. NOW BEFORE YOU RUN OFF SCREAMING AND SHITTING, IM NOT SAYING YOU DON'T NEED THE FUNDAMENTALS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! I'm just saying that if you want to get into art as a complete hobbyist and just want to draw to yknow draw and be happy, you should just go for it! Again don't make art something you hate! I completely encourage learning the fundamentals but don't ever feel like you're failing just because you don't, get into it when you have the time! be patient with yourself, this goes for any hobby/skill but just sink some time into it, i promise you will get further in you hobby than if you push and rush yourself into complete burn out
OH AND HERES MY ULTIMATE TIP! THERE IS NO WRONG WAY TO DO ART!!
Uhhh i think that's everything? Im not exactly sure how comprehensible this is or how the spelling is since i am not beta reading this! But apologies if this wasn't what you were looking for! (if anybody even read this far) and i hope that if you asked your other favorite artists they answered with anything better than whatever this is! I wish you alot of luck in your art journey and thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about art! OH AND REMEMBER TO TAKE BREAKS

A/N: In celebration of everyone's favorite dilf, Toji Fushuiguro, and my friend asked me when's part two of Rent or Model. Also, I do apologize that it felt rushed, and this is something I want to get it out of my head.
This oneshot is inspired by my cousin's comment on a kpop idol's abs back when I was still a kpop fan almost a decade ago. She told me if she could, she would like to bite into idol's abs because they look like a pack of dinner rolls. So, thanks cuz if you stumble upon this fic! (^u^)>
Note: Aki isn't related to the one in CSM, but the name just popped up to my head.
Masterlist
---------------------------
"Dumbass," Your friend, Aki, looked at you. "Heh, you dislike called one, yet you respond to it."
Aki furrowed his brows, bringing the lid of his beer mug to his lips. "I hope you trip on your own shoelaces."
His threat caused you to chuckle. Almost a decade worth of friendship was enough to tell you that he didn't mean anything by it. If anything, you knew him so well that you have tales to tell that could make or break with his future partner.
"Anyways," Aki took the chance to talk in hopes of changing the subject. "What's with the sudden hang out? You barely went out unless you're shopping for groceries."
To be honest, your roommate, Toji Zen'in, was currently away on a mission. He didn't gave you an exact date he would be back as its been already a week. The only good side of his absence was the lack of noises you heard from his room throughout the nights of Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Why those specific days? You don't know as it's not your business who would be in Toji's bed.
Does Aki know you're living with someone who kills people for a living? No
Does your friend know you posted an roommate advertisement in some shady ass website? No
Does he know Toji's usual nightlife? No
If Aki knew about your roommate, he would turn his mothering and nagging up to its max settings. You appreciate his concern, but, honestly, his way of thinking was too normal for you. You needed something or someone that could spice up your mundane life.
Hence, the impulsive decision to get a roommate. So far, Toji was reliable enough when it comes to doing chores. But, you learned not to trust him shopping for groceries with your money.
Only for you to find out that he threw the money away on those horses and jockey. To be fair, he did win the highest bid on that day, treat you to dinner at a fancy restaurant in Aoyama.
"What can you say?" You swirled your glass of whiskey, the ice cubes clinked to one another. "I thought of changing my routine for once."
"Right…" Aki said, not believing you as he took a sip of his beer. "You didn't invite me because you're missing someone?"
Shit. Were you that obvious?!
"You kept looking at your phone at least ten times in thirty minutes." Aki added. "So? Who?"
An image of Toji's soft smile popped into your head. In response to both your friend's question, you shook your head.
"There's no one." You took another sip of your drink. "I'm content with being single for the rest of my life."
That's right. It would be better for you anyway. Yet, thinking about it left a bitter taste in your tongue.
And, that's the beauty of alcohol came in, to make you forget about it by drinking.
-------------------------------------------------
It's been 7 days since he left.
168 hours had passed since the last time his roommate saw him.
30 minutes he spent traveling from the airport to see you at your shared apartment.
Surely, nothing would change within a week, right?
"Who the fuck are you?"
The question left from Toji's lips upon seeing an unfamiliar man coming out of your room. He's average looking at its finest. It didn't helped that the black thick frames of his glasses sold the mundane look.
A new roommate? For fuck's sake, Toji knew you could and would be impulsive with your decisions, especially what happened last month from your request to be his model. But, seriously, it had to be a fuck buddy of yours?!
The bespectacled man sneered at him. "Who the fuck are you?"
"I asked you first."
"I asked you second."
Toji sighed, near the end of his patience. "I'm her roommate, Toji Zen'in."
He almost gagged on the spot after he said his last name.
"Aki Sakamoto, I'm a friend of the weirdo who's currently sleeping now." The bespectacled man crossed his arms, glancing at the door to your room. "How come she didn't tell me about having a roommate? I'll ask her the next time we meet."
"What? You're jealous?"
"Nope, that idiot is too weird for my type." Aki scrunched his face in disgust, sticking his tongue out afterwards. " I knew her long enough that if I date her, I feel like I'm committing incest."
Upon hearing the latter's words, Toji crossed out the possibility of you and Aki being fuck buddies. That's gre- Wait…Why did he felt a sense of relief from your roommate's words? That couldn't be right.
Maybe just maybe. Once you slept with him, the crush weird feelings he had on you would be gone within a snap of his fingers.
"Thanks for looking out on this weirdo in my behalf." Aki slightly bowed a little. "Despite how nonchalant she is, she does get a little lonely from time to time."
"No need for thanks." Toji waved his hand dismissively. "I enjoy the special company she brings."
Toji snorted at the sight of your friend's disgusted expression. "And, that's my cue to leave you with the drunk weirdo."
After your friend left the apartment, Toji chose to linger at your room. He began to think on the words that Aki told him earlier as he brushed off a stray strand of your hair from your face.
Honestly, it shouldn't surprised him, but it did. It's hard to tell especially with the eccentric outlook you had towards in life. Maybe, you did express it at some point throughout the months he lived with you. His job as an assassin prevented him from contacting you, or telling you when he would be back.
Because of it, you always ended up waiting for him.
He knew couldn't always be there for you, but heavens knew he would raise hell if something bad happens to you because of him.
His train of thoughts were derailed when he heard you groan from your sleep. He watched your eyes fluttered open as you try to sit up on your bed.
"Toji? Ish…zhat..you?" The alcohol in your system slurred your words. "I neeeeeed you…."
With a small smile and hands on his waist, Toji asked. "What is it that you need from me, doll?"
Without any word, you jumped onto him, throwing off Toji's balance. You both fell on the wooden floor with a heavy thud.
Fortunately for you, you landed on top of your roommate. As for Toji, he couldn't tell if it's a blessing or a curse to have you straddled on him. The disheveled look didn't help either. Your shirt was too big for you, showing the strap of your bra on one of your shoulder.
"Toji~" You sang his name, grasping the ends of his shirt. "I'll take a quick peek of it, okay?"
Winking at him, you pulled his shirt up, revealing his well toned muscles.
Your index finger lazily traced the outline of his defined abdominal muscles. Eliciting a groan from Toji much to his dismay. He bit his lip to prevent any more sounds coming from him as your lips became dangerously closer towards his stomach.
It took every ounce of his will to restrain the temptation to flipped you over and took you on the floor. His pants became tighter with frustration when your hand accidentally brushed against one of his thighs.
Fuck! Why was he acting like some horny teenager right now?!
"If I bite into this," You looked up, meeting his gaze while giving a quick lick to your lips. "Will it be firm?"
Before anything else could happen, whether it would escalate into sex or not, you passed out. Toji shook your body a couple times, only for him to confirm you're dead asleep from the soft snores he kept hearing.
Once he tucked you back in bed, Toji released probably the biggest sigh in his life. The frustration he felt knew he would have to spent a long time in the cold shower later.
'What the fuck did I do in my past life to experience this?'
-------------------------------------------------
The next day had arrived, and not so surprisingly, you woke up with a banging headache like someone ran you over with a truck.
Maybe you did, and by some miracle, you came out of the ER unscathed. Man, that would be one hell of a story to tell to Aki.
As you got out of your room, you gave your arms and legs a nice long stretch before noticing your roommate. He's currently sitting at the living room, but you noticed the slight dark circles underneath his eyes.
"Morning," You yawned loudly as you wiped the tears from your eyes before rubbing them. "You're back…how was the mission?"
Instead of an answer, he replied with a question of your own.
"Do you remember anything last night?"
"Let's see…I knew I went out drinking with Aki…" You closed your eyes, trying to recollect any memories that happened after your stupidity took over your senses. "My brain got fucked over by four full glasses of shochu, then I don't remember after that…"
Once you opened your eyes, it landed on a brown paper bag. It's sitting nicely on your dining table. Suddenly, you remembered what happened next.
"Oh!" You exclaimed, pulling out a a single piece of bread roll from the brown paper bag. "We went to a bakery for me to get something for today's breakfast, and then- Toji? What's the matter?"
"Nothing," Toji shook his head. "I'm a bit tired from yesterday's mission."
"Then, let me take care of today's breakfast…unless you want to get take out." You scratched your cheek. "I just remember I have a commission due next week."
'Out of all the people, it had to be this oblivious weirdo.' Toji thought.

hi! i love ur writing ☆ can i request ena shinonome cuddling hcs?<3 have a good day
{Cuddles with Ena!}
Heehee, thanks for the compliment! Also, first Ena ask WHOO! She's a character i honestly didn't expect to like, but she has grown on me pretty quickly, so i hope I can do her justice! Caw.
Tumblr media
As much as it ashamed her to admit it, Ena loves peaceful and gentle physical affection! It helps her wind down from the bad thoughts inside her head, be them directed towards others or herself. She can be pretty hard on herself, so she needs someone else to be soft on her!
It started slowly at first. Handholding, then heads leaning on shoulders, then hugs... You had to make sure that every step was small, and not in an aggressive or forward direction. This was her comfort activity, after all! You'd hate yourself if she were to grow uncomfortable from what was supposed to brighten up her day...
Cuddling was one of the steps that took more than a few weeks into the relationship, but it was one that Ena secretly dreamt about... Her dreams weren't exactly peaceful or calm; quite the opposite, actually! Her creative artist brain, combined with her insecurities and cravings for acceptance leads her resting brain to come up with wild visions! Of course, she never cared much about them, but they were still annoying from time to time.
And don't get her started when her brain was at it's worst, and the nightmares started seeping in... Combining the last two descriptives, turning her fully against herself, not to mention that she's a scaredy cat, and... Well, the result was obvious. Noise complaints from her brother!
The point is, even in her sleep, Ena's thoughts played dirty, and she needed something, or someone, to help her along with that. That was how her desire for cuddling began, and how you two turned it into a common occurrence!
She tends to cling to you almost possessively at times, yet she makes sure to never hold you or embrace you too hard... You suspect that her insecurities are a part of her constant need for affection, but you could never judge her for it. Instead, you let her hug and wrap around in whichever way she wanted, at whatever time! Unless you know that it's gonna ruin her night sleep, of course.
Sometimes, she gently nuzzles her head against you chest! At first it confused you, but as time passed, your knowledge of her nonverbal communications got better! She tended to do that whenever she wanted even more affection, so you would leave your hand on her head, patting it or simply caressing it until her eyes looked sleepy. It was a trick to get her to sleep that didn't seem to fail!
The bad thing is, that with these cuddle sessions, her waking up issues seem to be getting a bit worse... After all, she had your full attention and comfort in this one bed without needing to force herself to do something big in return! How could she just leave like that?? Sure, she's gonna feel it again at night, but...
"Mgh... Why, why?? Can't we just stay for a few more minutes? I lo-... I really enjoy this feeling, this warmth; it's like nothing I've ever felt in my life! So just let me have this!... Ugh, I don't even have to go to school right now, why do I need to leave this bed?? Please... Let's just stay instead... I know you enjoy it as much as me, so this is a win win, right?? Uhuh, I know you do!"
Sometimes, her words work, and you both nuzzle in for usually one more hour. (Or until Akito realizes what's up.) However, you've been getting better at deflecting the temptations and forcing her to do so as well! You feel bad for pulling her out of her heavenly peaceful moments, but you have to make sure that she lives out the rest of the day as well! Besides, it's not like you'll stop doing them anytime soon...
Heehee, I love Ena... I love 25-ji! They're all my favorites, honestly! ... I-I may have one above the rest though... Caw.

ah the bear!!!!! i love that show, ngl it was terrrible for my anxiety sometimes so i had to take breaks or knit while i was watching… i will say my favorite character to watch is definitely sydney and my favorite character to write/read about is probably…Mikey (i can appreciate a fine man when i see one, and the layer of tragedy really activates my “i-need-to-imagine-a-universe-where-everyone-wins” gene in my head)
enjoy the show !!! pls let us know what your feeling, i love when ppl share their thoughts in real time
Hey lovely Nonnie!
It's definitely intense, I can imagine it being particularly stressful for those who have been in/left the hospo industry. Breaks is valid! I had to do that with Succession a few times! Knitting while watching sounds like a clever way to work around that and also great multitasking! (I cannot knit sadly)
I'm on episode 4, the episodes are quite short and easy to get through I've found, it's very engaging and I'll finish the first season by Friday I think which is why I'm trying to go a bit slower as we don't get S2 until next week on Disney Plus!
Sydney is great! I'm really enjoying Marcus's character and the artistic/strife for perfection obsession we're getting there, I do see it having potential to go badly though...I know there's flashbacks with Jon Bernthal as Mikey in S2 but I'm not up to that yet. I've seen a couple of clips on tik tok which was before starting the show and I didn't realise that they were flashbacks at the time. It's definitely a tragic character and situation 😭
I'll definitely share thoughts as I continue to watch! I think I'll do the same with Studio Ghibili films as I've had quite a few asks about them since admitting I've never seen them!
Thank you so much Nonnie! Have a lovely day and I'll update you 💗

🎵💿 discography tag 💿🎵
Rules: pick an artist or a band and share your favorite song from each of their albums, then tag some mutuals!
Tagged by: @hiscrimsonangel (thanks for the tag, Scarlet ❤️)
My chosen artist: Metallica
Tagging: (no pressure, as always 😊) @musicmoviestv @live-love-be-unique @big-ope-vibes @jamdoughnutmagician @eddiemunsonwillbethedeathofme @princess-josephina @enchante-em @aftermidnightwriting
P.S.: It's really simple as that, pick an artist, and list the favorite song of each of their albums. It's just that. Please don't mind me here, I chose a band with many albums, and I was having so much fun doing this that I basically converted it to a personal journal post and have added a small comment, my favorite lines of each song, and the link to spotify, making it a way longer and complex post than it needed to be 😂
---
Album: Kill 'Em All - Song: Seek & Destroy
I love its mini-solos, and the feeling when you are in one of their concerts and James sings "Searching..." and you and everyone there shout in unison, "SEEK AND DESTROY!" is awesome!
🎶"Searching | Seek and Destroy"
Album: Ride the Lightning - Song: For Whom The Bell Tolls
Probably my favorite song intro, and one of the few songs of them that my mom listened to (and liked). The anti-war vibes of it are great too.
🎶"For a hill, men would kill — Why? They do not know"
Album: Master of Puppets - Song: Master of Puppets
A classic! Another great song in their concerts, the "MASTER! MASTER!" echoing always pumps me up! And Eddie Munson, my beloved, gave me more reasons to love this song ❤️
🎶"Come crawling faster | Obey your master | Your life burns faster | Obey your master, master"
Album: ...And Justice for All - Song: One
I love the different tunes/styles that you have during the song. I remember how impacted I was when I first heard/understood the lyrics. (And the pyrotechnics used when they are playing this live are so cool!) (It was also a hell of a song to beat when playing Guitar Hero)
🎶"Darkness imprisoning me | All that I see, absolute horror | I cannot live, I cannot die | Trapped in myself, body my holding cell"
Album: Metallica (The Black Album) - Song: The Unforgiven
I got this LP record as a gift when I was younger, it was the first one of their albums that I owned and I listened to it sooo many times - so most of its songs have a special place in my heart. But "The unforgiven" is special to me (the whole 'trilogy'), I have a connection with it that I cannot put in words.
🎶"This fight he cannot win | A tired man they see no longer cares | The old man then prepares to die regretfully | That old man here is me"
Album: Load - Song: King Nothing
Every time I was in a "satisfaction post-revenge" mode, this was the song of choice😂
🎶"But the castle crumbled and you're left with just a name | Where's your crown, King Nothing?"
Album: Reload - Song: The Unforgiven II
This was my go-to music when I was having trust issues or during a heartbreak when I was a teenager.
🎶"What I've felt, what I've known | Turn the pages, turn the stone | Behind the door, should I open it for you?"
Album: St. Anger - Song: Frantic
While this is my favorite song of this album, I don't listen to it much nowadays cuz it's too linked to some memories of times when I was struggling and didn't handle it too well.
🎶"Could I have my wasted days back | Would I use them to get back on track? | You live it or lie it! | My lifestyle determines my deathstyle"
Album: Death Magnetic - Song: The Unforgiven III
I love how this song 'concludes' the unforgiven storyline, I think it has a great melody and I love the lyrics touching the matter of self-forgiving
🎶"How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go? | (…) And how can I blame you when it's me I can't forgive?"
Album: Hardwired... to Self-Destruct - Song: Spit Out the Bone
Not only do I like the vibes of the melody, but the whole theme of wondering how much we are depending/putting ourselves into technology, if it's (or not) helping, and how far it will go always attract me, no matter the media type 😂
🎶"Plug into me I guarantee devotion | Plug into me and dedicate | Plug into me and I'll save you from emotion | Plug into me and terminate"

Hello Charity,
I have something that always bothered me and as it came up again yesterday I decided to write to you because I'm curious as to whether this is just a human thing, or tied to typology. I frequently see bloggers or "typologists" on Youtube trying to define the functions in only a keyword and in my opinion it hardly ever works, as no function has monopoly over values, and at times they are clearly very biased: C.S. Joseph claims Ti is logic in itself, that Ti users are the only ones who care about the truth, because Te/Fi users only care about beliefs and make things up etc. obviously that's false, but he has managed to convince many people of this.
That's the beauty of the internet. Anyone can make stuff up and find people who will believe them. ;) He is over-simplifying. Fi only cares about staying true to their individual values, but Te cares about facts. The facts sometimes ARE the truth, whereas subjective logical take on the situation (Ti) may not be the truth. Remember when Sherlock had a meltdown because the facts (what he saw) did not align with his personal logic (Ti) about the Hound of the Baskervilles?
There's also this Eric guy who insists Ti is objective because is detached from feelings, while Te is subjective since it's tied to Fi.
Again, wrong. Te is facts. Ti is "pure" subjective logic. If it makes sense to me, it's the truth.
Again obviously false as both of their ideas contradict Jung's definition of the functions. So you can see why I'm skeptical when it comes to attributing certain traits to functions. But I've seen meritocracy being attributed to high Te many times, and I like your opinion on the rationale behind it.
I have a channel on pop culture so I check out what other popular uploaders have to say on issues pertaining my interests so I can give my own takes later. Last morning there was an award show and a popular group who had a huge hit walked away empty handed. I soon saw a couple popular Youtubers posting about how the show was clearly rigged and unfair to that group, and disrespected then. The thing is, it wasn't: the criteria for each award is made public months prior, so you can accurately predict most of the winners beforehand because it's mostly based on sales and streaming numbers. Everybody knew the two artist who would bag most of the categories because they had superior numbers. And they did win. The "robbed" group in question had a huge hit yes, but couldn't compete in terms of chart longevity and album sales. Hence, they didn't get any major award.
One could argue sales should not have such a big weight in the decision but I disagree, numbers don't lie and are objective, if the judges had the most say they would base their choices on personal taste, and that is by nature super subjective.
Facts do not lie, it is true. But numbers can be manipulated if you know how to play the system. Let's say that a book needs to be a best-seller on the NY Times best seller list to qualify for a certain award, and the baseline limit is 10,000 copies. The book is written by a rich celebrity or politician, who has their lawyer or friend purchase 10,000 copies. Boom, they are on the best-seller list. (Some publishers even do this to get a book ON the best-seller list, which generates more sales because everyone assumes that book must be good if "everyone else is reading it." Most people don't know that the baseline for best-sellers is so low.) <- here's some Te thinking for you. Cause and effect. How do I change the numbers to benefit me?
Just something to think about as you reflect on this awards program.
My favorite group also left almost empty handed even though they are successful, and I didn't get mad or upset, because I know they lost fair and square. This is where the meritocracy plays in: if Te is concerned with it then wouldn't all Te users accept results when legitimate? Or has it no connection to Te or typolgy at all?
It depends on whether the Te users are being objective, or if their feelings are involved. Someone objective (like me in this instance, because I know nothing about it and don't care who wins -- I don't have a horse in this race) can assess something objectively, but if feelings are involved (this is my band, I love them so much, so clearly this isn't fair!), the game changes. TJs are more objective than FPs. Confronted by the facts, TJs tend to accept them -- or even at times, be over-reliant on them (without considering that they can be manipulated to fit an agenda), but the facts don't change how an FP feels about the situation.
I don't wanna be one of those people who create and feed prejudices against certain types or functions, so I wanted to get an outside opinion on whether it's a coincidence that at least when it comes to Youtubers, the ones who share this opinion are all xNFPs. This makes me wonder if they weren't joking when they said they wouldn't take any arguments against a view they stated as fact, or that if people didn't like something they did then they were stupid.
"You are stupid!" is a common low Te response. If you can't understand me or my argument or agree with it, you're an idiot! As to whether or not they were joking, I cannot say. If they are truly "all about this band" that lost and devastated by it for some reason, they are not going to be rational or detached enough to listen to a facts-based argument. What they feel, in their mind, is a fact TO THEM, and it takes priority over everything else.
Perhaps just like Ti can be super arrogant by claiming their theories as objective truth (like the 2 typology guys I talked about who are ENTPs), Fi can see their feelings as legitimate truth too ("I feel like this is unfair so it is")?
Yep. That's exactly correct.
I should also say that "I don't like how this turned out, they must have cheated!" is a rather 6y way to respond to a situation. It's very much how a 6 brain would work -- something is off about this, so I will leap to a suspicious conclusion (a conspiracy theory) and park there!

favorite moments from my first production
i got to be a stagehand + hair/makeup artist (and more) for a local production of Dial M for Murder, it was the first production i've had the privilege of working on, and of course i have many stories from backstage
spoilers for Dial M!! yes its a play from 1954 what's your point
synopsis: Margot Wendice had an affair with american tv writer Max Halliday. after discovering this Tony Wendice blackmails his old college schoolmate into murdering his wife. this goes wrong and he ends up dying instead. shes blamed for murder instead of self defence. Detective Hubbard ends up solving the case in the end, just before Margot meets her demise
for privacy i will be refering to the actors by their character names
Detective Williams
Williams' mic didnt work until the last 3 shows. he only has like 2 lines so it wasn't super noticeable. he did mic check, and then would shut his mic off until his scene, disconnecting it.
Williams forgot that our last performance was a sunday matinee, and only showed up like minutes before curtain (call time was 12:30, go at 2pm. he showed up at like 1:55) fortunately his character doesnt show up until late in act 2 but still. he def missed the cast picture
he was so excited to see what outfit id wear every day, it was so cute (i dress in vintage inspired clothes like every day)
he was watching youtube in the green room at full blast on preview night, which the audience heard
The Cops, O'Brian and Barkley
O'Brian (28) trying to hit on me (20) for my first week (ew?). but he apologized if he made me uncomfortable on closing day so thats chill of him
Barkley giving me a laugh report after any of his bits
Barkley giving everyone scripts he wrote for the sequel after closing (starring him as the lead, of course)
Barkley thanking me for fixing his jacket and tie everytime he went out on stage
me and O'Brian debating musical theater in the green room every show
Barkley forgetting he needs to take the body away with O'Brian during our one and only tryout show, which had O'Brian having to improvise how to get the body offstage by himself
Barkley and O'Brian unable to carry off the body during the final rehearsal, so instead the director came up with a magic disappearing act for the body that they had to learn opening night
(about the titanic (1997) musical) Me: it was horrible O'Brian: didn't it win the tony? Me: yes. it shouldn't have
Detective Hubbard
the Jacket Fiasco. ok so Hubbard, Halliday, and Tony Wendice all have nearly identical jackets (its a plot point). But, Hubbard's jacket had his key in it, which he needs for a scene. on opening night the stagehand on stage left accidentally gave his jacket to Tony. Hubbard became flustered after not being able to find his jacket, and started whisper yelling at me and the other stagehand on stage right (where the fuck is my jacket etc etc). he then went onstage and forgot most of his lines due to being flustered. he accidentally cut Williams lines in the process, which Williams was pissed about. the other SR stagehand didn't talk to Hubbard unless necessary after that.
i was in charge of personal props, so i would typically get the blackmail letters from Hubbard before the show (Margot needs them at the top of the show and they are given to Hubbard in act 2) so this conversation took place every show "do you have my blackmail" "yes i do, stop blackmailing me!! i refuse to pay"
him constantly being confused by the writers decisions "why does the script call for 6 dials? the actual number back then was 7 dials" "but my british dad said blah blah blah"
bonding at the afterparty over the SR stagehand (more on her later)
thinking im talking about the play instead of the musical, and then being surprised that a muscial verison exists (multiple times)
Captain Lesgate/C.A. Swann
Lesgate has 2 coats, one normal one, and one with a safety pack for the stabbing scene. the final act one rehearsal, lesgate enters the apartment, hangs up his normal jacket, continues the scene. he then leaves to get ready for the murder forgetting his normal jacket in the apartment. when i reminded him he was like "no my jacket is here :)" *points to murder jacket*
Lesgate having to reherse the murder and dying alone because Margot didnt show up to rehearsal because of a bomb threat in her area
Lesgate, O'brian and I bonding over the Lea Michelle + Johnathan Groff Desk Lamp Incident (iykyk)
discussing Trisha Paytas
shouting "SUCKING DICK AND COCK" during the 2 day show lunch and you did it at my birthday dinner!
discussing male porn stars at the 2 day show lunch
him rooting for me to shoot my shot with a boy that works in the box office
the director had a trip after opening, and didnt come back until closing. when she did, Lesgate had to tell her all of the box office boy tea. "ooh backstage + box office relationships?? Spicy" - the director
"if you dont date box office boy, i will. he is so fucking hot. i approve 😌"
discussing disney fast pass history
signing left over stabbing pads for each other on the last show
him almost forgetting the murder weapon before going on
him trying to "strangle" margot with the scarf, and missing, during the murder scene
the lighting team messing up a light que and having Lesgate and Tony both turing to me going "THEY FUCKED UP THE LIGHT QUE"
Max Halliday
us having mini dance parties in between his scenes
i made multiple doodles of him dancing while saying his most tragic lines. i gave him the best ones on closing
🎶✨🕺🏼🎶She's being Hanged Tomorrow!!🎶🕺🏼✨🎶
him being the only one in the show without an accent, and being the only one backstage who loves doing accents
him singing the WAP in his Christopher Walken voice
him saying a bunch of his lines in a jack sparrow voice
reciting shakespear in his Christopher Walken voice
i have a bunch of allergies and blood sugar issues, so i would bring homemade eggrolls and share them with him. closing night i gave him the recipe
never forgetting a line until the second to last performace, and then forgetting like 1/2 his lines in act 2. "ive never done that before... my soul left my body..."
bonding over being ancient theater history nerds
him being invested in the publix boy saga (you don't wanna know)
him never knowing where his hankerchief was and me bugging him about it every day? iconic. (he left it onstage one night)
me and Max changed our hair the same day, Tony remarked on Max's hair, and both Max and i said "oh thanks! oh you changed your hair too!"
Margot Wendice
i got very good at doing vintage styles on other people while helping Margot, who could not for the life of her figure out how to pin in a pincurl (no shade, its hard to learn initially)
babes had 2 quick changes, one of which i helped with. we got that one done so quick i should win an award
margot also approves of box office boy
the sound crew messed up a sound que for her. she went to turn off the raido and it didnt turn off until she had almost walked to the bar. oops.
at intermission i would do her hair again, in a bun this time, and i would bruise her neck where she was strangled. now i can add bruise makeup to my resume
she also got a signed stab pack at closing
a few times she completely chucked the prop scissors too far, and couldnt find them to stab Lesgate. he ended up dying without a stab wound a few times. the first time this happened poor baby almost had a panic attack :( she then changed to grabbing the scissors and dropping them closer to the floor during the struggle instead of swiping them off the desk, making the stab part less worrisome for her
one time she stabbed Lesgate so hard she almost went through the stab pack
her entire swim team came to surprise her during our closing weekend, as did most of her friends, family, and fiancé. 1/2 of this group also came to see her opening night! we stan a supportive squad
she took pictures of me in my lil black outfit onstage, and hyped me up which was super sweet
her zipper broke on one costume twice, both times the costumer was not in the building. first time i pinned her into that dress, second we ended up fixing the zipper in time
her fiance wanted her to steal the zipper dress (it was really cute, i dont blame her) so at the after party she said that and i was like "good luck getting it zipped up" and she was like "ikr"
one patron came backstage to ask where the bathroom was, margot then had to show her where right before we went into places
me and Lesgate had to explain to Margot what a twink is during the 2 show day lunch
Tony Wendice
Tony Wendice has the most lines (he has like 2 very long monolouges or something crazy like that), and he didnt have them memorized until our preview (3 days before opening). im so proud/impressed that he got all of that memorized in time
i drink rootbeer to help with my chronic breathing issues (idk why but it just works for me) so every time Tony would be like "0mG dRinKiNG 0n tHe J0b?!?" Max did it a few times too.
during the last scene Margots purse exits SR, goes to the phone loft on SR, and then needs to get to Tony on SL, so i was in charge of running the purse in da tunnel. opening night, another stagehand said he looked stressed that i hadnt delivered the purse yet (the phone call hadn't happened yet), so i asked him about if after, got it all worked out. after that he would always do an exagerated *phew* it was super funny. i gave him a cartoon of it one of the nights, and he had to show everyone backstage
during the second act he puts 50 1p notes in his pocket, which i need back in the morning. everyday i would pester him for 50p when returning his personal props. last performance i gave him an extra set of prop tickets with "you owe me 50p" written on the back
me and him bonded over our shared hatred for lil orphan annie
Tony lost a tie one night. Max said "oh i have a spare!" and then came back with Tony's lost tie
Tony lost a prop newspaper article during rehearsals. we got him backups, it was all good. after the last performace i found the lost article
Tony got hot mic'd!!! we were in a blackout about to go to intermission, most if not all actors were in the green room, but the booth forgot to shut off mics. so we just hear "Margot! how was the murder??"
closing night i told Tony "break a leg! i hope your wife dies tonight!" and he said "me too!"
various stories
i quickly became known as the vintage expert, since i dress retro. multiple times i was asked if i was in the show. once i was setting props and the sound tech and set designer were like "she looks like she could be in the show!! its so cool!!"
no one belived me when i said this was my first production. everyone thought i was a seasoned professional. this keeps happening. sorry guys, im not a professional, just autistic
i also started to gain a reputation for falling. basically i fall over a lot, health issue blah blah. anyways, my second day, i slipped and slammed into the side of the stage, knocking over a script stand. everyone then joked any time i got near anything "not to fall" for the rest of the week. it was a good lil goof
we took a break over one weekend, cuz of a street festival happening nearby, making access to the theater nearly impossible; over that weekend i had a skateboard accident, breaking my pinky finger and skinning my knee and elbow. i came back to the theater monday all bandaged up. this did not help my reputation of falling
the next week, box office boy came to admire the set, and me and him were talking and catching up (we met at guys and dolls, and he helped me avoid anaphylatic shock). anyways, while chatting i tripped and fell on stage. the rest of the day 3 people said "yeah we saw you fall onstage" this was also the start of the box office boy rumors backstage
the sound tech said "yeah i was like whos on stage? and then you fell and i was like, oh its just (my name)"
i got a physical migrane one of the days (a migraine in the nervous system, making the nerves hyperactive. it feels like youre on fire and everything you touch is itchy. basically living hell) and i did not have any of my fixes! and i couldnt fix it until i got home (which wouldve been like 2 hours later) the next day i brought my fixes, labeled them, and stuck them in the staff fridge. fortuantely didnt need them again.
me and the sound tech bonding over both wearing vintage + swapping brand recs
3 days before opening the set was not even close to being ready. like at all so i showed up at 12:30 to help. my call time was not until 6:30, but dammit this set is getting done so im here early. i was at the theater from 12:30pm-almost 11pm. i helped paint, upholster, decorate, stapled the stair carpet, clean out the box office, clean up/get the theater ready for that nights preview, mend costumes etc etc. i got to meet a lot of cool people, and i got a ton of street credit at the theater. the set designer said i was the most helpful person he's ever worked with. we got the set completed opening night.
our set is most likely to win best set of the season at the the theaters lil yearly award show!
because i was there early that day, i got in the opening night thank you speech twice!! once in crew, and once in carpenters. i was only credited once in the program, but that was because they were printed before i helped out lmao. but hey, im in a program!!
the theater was short on ushers 2 times, so they pulled me from SR and one of the light techs until 5 till. the stage manager was like "im going to regret this but heres the situation. who wants to be an usher" so i volunteered. she said "i knew you would. i already told the box office you would. i figured it would be best since they already know you" (since i helped that once day). at this point i should start packing the usher uniform in my go bag
the girl on SR. ok so we had 3 Stagehands total, one girl on SL and me and another girl on SR. she did not show up one of the shows (the first show i had to usher) she wanted to enter the film industry through being a stagehand, despite knowing nothung about theater...bold move but ok. her backup career was becoming a cop. she really did not fit in the theater. she was constantly stressed out about how much we had to do and how much everything changed. she was constantly was suprised how different film was to theater. she would also tell me im doing stuff wrong, despite not knowing how the theater works, and me doing the stuff i was instructed. i wanted to slap her so many times
SL girl was a snowbird. she normally lives in chicago, but lives here in florida for the winter. back in chicago shes a producer. i had to hear sooo many times "but thats not how we do it in Chicago" bitch, shut up. also she was practically forcing me to agree go to college for theater. nah fam im not dropping 40k for something i could learn/do for free. "but at my amature theater in chicago everyone has a degree" good for them. im not spending that much to be involved at an amature theater in chicago. her favorite musical is South Pacific so that should tell you everything you need to know.
we had lots of "liquor" on the bar (ice tea and water). every night we struck the tea to put in the fridge. no one drank the water so it didnt need to be struck. one night SL girl took the water down to the fridge anyways. i said "hey we dont do that" and she said "idc im doing it anyway" she got yelled at the next day. next week, SR girl does the same thing. i said "hey we dont do that". she said "idc im doing anyways". i said "ok, but dont get mad at me when you get yelled at". she got yelled at before she made it to the fridge. SR girl didn't talk to me for 2 days after.
i got to do sound check for the god mic!
since me and the set designer are friends he set up a lil light just for me so i could draw when i wasnt working backstage. i didnt ask him to so he just did it. what an icon
everyone signed a poster i made, and the director and the asst. director both wrote me notes about how much they loved my enthusiasm and that they think im going to have a successful career.
during the first few off book run throughs, when the stage manager had to leave, i was appointed as asst. to the stage manager. so i got to feed lines on like my first day
we're a hit!!! our show got a smashing review from a local art publication, so we had completly sold out shows for the entirety of our extremely limited run. the creative director thought about extending our run, but that would've interfered with the next production so we couldn't.
the stage manager let me keep a ton of paper props on the last day
the stage manager would always brag/advocate for me to the creative director. so he ended up asking me to come back for the next production! this time as an set artist, prop artist, and a stagehand! probably some more stuff, we're going to discuss it further at the staff meeting this week
starting this week, im starting work on Newsies. goodbye Dial M, hello Newsboys!

GOD SAVE OUR SPLENDOUR
The older I get, the more often I find myself reminiscing back upon my teenage years. Years that were spent learning to smoke stolen cigarettes, hacking into our hair with kitchen scissors, and pushing the line to see just how much you could get away with to any and all authority in your life. I had a great group of mates by my side; a motley crue soldered together by our mutual love of music.
So, naturally, one of the key moments for us always came around the easter holidays. A morning where we would set an alarm to get up in time to hear a very important announcement coming through the speakers of my shitty little Mazda 121. An announcement that would then transform into multiple persuasive powerpoints, begging Mum to let me go. When the persuasions worked, we would next save up every single dollar we made at whatever crappy part time job we could find, and make up an excuse as to why we had to have the morning off of school ( IE. Orthodontist apt, Nans birthday, lost the car keys.. )
We HAD to ensure that we were first in the virtual line, to nab up tickets to the hottest thing your little teenage brain could imagine. I am of course talking about Splendour in the Grass, the annual 3 day music festival that takes place in the hills of Byron Bay.
Tumblr media
( Facebook post from my 15 year old self & some pics of that time to sum it all up )
Tumblr media
Splendour to us was more important than any other pivotal high school moment - more effort and thought was put into festival outfits than Grad Formal attire. And we were not alone in this, even for people who weren't 16 and didn't yet grasp just how big and grand the world was.
When the time came for my third year at the festival, 2015, tickets sold out in record time - 35 minutes was all it took for ALL three day passes to be completely gone. It was the Golden ticket to wonkas factory, no matter if you were celebrating your win in a grade 10 math class, or a white-collar corporate office.
It's been about 10 years since these times I'm recalling oh so fondly; and in that period, there has seemed to be a definite decline in the hype surrounding ALL Australian Music festivals, not just our beloved Splendour. This year, 2023, has been the first that Splendour has failed to sell out their tickets.
There's no cushioning it; Australian music festivals are dying. They are becoming an endangered species, and if we don't act now, I fear they will meet the same maker as the poor Tasmainian Tiger... EXTINCTION. Imagine a society where we no longer roll around muddy fields, eating overpriced dagwood dogs with a pair of broken sunnies you found on the ground earlier adorning your face. A world where there is no crying happy tears while you stand arm to arm with strangers as your favorite artist takes to the stage, no fighting over set lists thrown into the crowd when its over and then spending 38 minutes trying to find your friend group at your ( failed) designated meeting spot since no one has reception anyway. Oh the horror! We only know what we got when it's gone.
Speaking of gone, let's just take a moment of silence as we take a walk through the Graveyard of Australian festivals since you're probably still thinking “no way, festivals are such a money maker! They'll never die! We need em!” Well, In the graveyard we first find well-memorialized legends like Big Day Out, Homebake, Sunbury pop and Soundwave, as well as those perhaps forgotten; Parklife, Future, and Good Vibrations. Lingering at the gates is Falls Fest, who have recently announced a Hiatus for 2023 ( which, not to scare anyone, but IS the same announcement that most of those now extinct festivals made…)
But - Why so much death and decay? How do we keep our favorites out of the boneyard?
There are a plethora of causes that could be speeding up the grim fate of our once beloved festivals. From cops, to promoters, to money, to punters themselves.
MONEY MONEY MONEY
Let's start with the elephant in the room, the reason why the world goes around... MONEY. To be frank, it costs a shit load of money to host a music festival. From land costs, staff, stages, artists, toilets, water, security, transportation, insurance.. The list goes on. In 2022, The financial times came out with a mini documentary to try and contextualize for us punters just how much of a risk is associated with hosting something of this scale.
Point being, there are big dollars being put into this from the get go. And it NEEDS to happen for a festival to be successful, safe and enjoyable. We all know what happens when you cut corners financially ( ala Fyre Festival…).  And those costs are only going up. According to the Australia Festival Association, the industry was hit with a whopping 30% rise in supplier costs at the start of 2023, with insurance premiums increased by as much as 300%.
So naturally, ticket prices gotta increase to adjust to the costs from the top end. And, also naturally, punters don't like this. The current cost of living crisis ( which at this point feels like a buzzword boogeyman), means that more people are struggling to make ends meet in their day to day life, let alone find left over dollars to splurge a few hundred bucks in one weekend. Live music feels like more of a luxury these days for rich folks and internet influencers, rather than an accessible, cultural experience.
Another problem lies in the fact that a lot of the time, Australians' favorite musicians hardly ever come to this side of the world at all.
When I put a call out to my instagram followers to tell me why they do or dont love festivals, I got “line ups are shit nowadays', a lot. As in, out of 20 people, 17 of them mentioned something along those lines. Personal tastes of my instagram followers aside, this is a sentiment that has been so long running that every year it gets turned into a meme. There is a definite opinion that line ups from festivals across the industry have been declining in value over the years.
Australia is a super scarce place for bands to tour. The remoteness between capital cities, a small population density, and a hefty distance from the rest of the anglosphere make it so that unless you are a big name like Harry Styles or Taylor Swift, bringing a tour down under can lead to a band hemorrhaging money. So, unless it's a financially viable move, and side shows will be a guaranteed success, artists are going to obviously be reluctant to say yes to begin with.
Funding from government bodies also play a monumental role, in everything to do with Australian music. Starting from the bottom up, less funding to LOCAL artists = less Australian artists getting exposure = not enough popularity to be billed on a line up to begin with. Hence the foreign artists being brought in, which again just fuels the vicious cycle and creates the expense of overseas talent to begin with.
Looking at the top level, government grants and funding can make or break a festival.
As a little contextualising exercise, post covid both the UK government and the AUS government had a designated covid fun to help get the arts, and specifically festivals back on their feet. The UK fund was 500 Million pounds - nearly 1 billion Australian dollars- with festivals each being allocated up to 6 million AUD. On our side of the pond, Australia's RISE fund was only 75 million AUD, with the top hand out being 1.5M.
It's no wonder how UK festivals continue to thrive with such a brilliant worldwide reputation. Our government needs to put more attention and money into the arts if they wish to keep it alive.
THE WAR ON MUSIC
Going back to my own personal experiences, I will never forget the first time I came face to face with a punter's most dreaded enemy.. Its not rain, nor low phone signal, not even fashion mishaps take the number one spot. A punters nightmare; the humble black lab, dressed up and trained to find your narcotics, get you kicked out of the festival before you can even SMELL a dagwood dog, and gift you with a court date as a little parting present.
To keep this from growing too broad, let's focus on the favorite festival drug, MDMA, perhaps wider known as Ecstasy. Typically taken either in a pressed pill, soluble capsule, or sniffed straight up the nose out of a plastic baggy. MDMA was huge in the 90’s and early 2000’s, which coincided with the flourish of Australian music festivals, but this sentiment was happening worldwide. UK rave culture was at its peak, as was the US. Its easy to look back on those days with fond eyes, and try to continue them on into today. But the fact of the matter is that drugs have changed a lot in the past 20 years.
Dangerously changed. Back in the 90’s, the amount of MDMA in a single capsule would sit at around 80mg per pill, retailing for $10-$15. Today, pills on the dark web drug exchange sites such as Dream Market claim to have strengths starting from 160mg to 250mg, with most averaging to around 220mg. One pill in todays market equals nearly 3 pills in the 90s, with little to no education happening around these huge increases in amounts, nor the culture that surrounds it.
And unfortunately the amount of drugs inside isn't even the most sinister part; in order to keep costs low, suppliers and dealers ‘cut’ party drugs with other substances.
A study published in International Journal of Drug Policy, where they tested various drugs at UK festival Garden Party, found that Pills were being laced with pharmaceuticals from painkillers to anti-malaria tablets, while being bulked up by concrete plaster. Drugs sold as MDMA actually turned out to be  n-ethylpentylone, a long lasting cathinone that causes psychosis, paranoia, insomnia, seizures, and even death.  It's undeniable that there is a drug problem in our country that goes hand in hand with live music and partying. There is no one right approach to stop the tragic and unnecessary deaths of young people from these drugs, but as is the truth in most cases, prevention is better than a cure. The NSW government seems to disagree.
Following two deaths at Sydney's Defqon 1 festival in 2018, premier Gladys Berejiklian had this to say. “I'll be doing everything I can to make sure it never happens again… this is an unsafe event.” Subsequently, the Australia media coined the term ‘the war on music’ to describe the crackdowns of live music and festivals by the NSW government.
The message was clear from the people up top. Instead of taking the lead from other countries like England, Europe and even our neighbors New Zealand, who all use drug education and safety as a means of prevention, they pushed harder to shut them down all together. Ms Berejiklian has reinstated that there is no such thing as safe drug use. “Anyone who advocates pill testing is giving the green light to drugs. That is absolutely unacceptable.”
Pill testing is a harm reduction strategy, which allows a person in possession of drugs to safely and discreetly find out what is actually in it. And by other countries' accounts, it works, with health care workers actually calling it life saving. During a trial of pill testing in New Zealand, 68% of those surveyed reported they changed their behavior after using a drug checking service, with 87% claiming their knowledge of harm reduction had improved.
Following this success, In 2021, New Zealand became the first country in the world to completely legalize pill testing at festivals, after health minister Andrew Little introduced a bill urging parliament to look at the reality of recreational drug use. Unlike Ms. Berejiklian’s view, Mr Little acknowledged the truth of the situation at hand:
“The reality is… we know that some people who attend those festivals partake of recreational drugs and substances. They purchase those substances and sometimes they do not know exactly what they are getting.. And there are risks associated with that.”
The sentiment rings the same within the Australian public. In a 2019 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, we found that 57% of Australians supported pill testing, while only 27% opposed. Furthermore, a 2016 survey found that 86.5% of respondents believed drug testing could help reduce harm by users, while a whopping 87.1% said they would likely use this service if it had been available.
Fortunately, Queensland isn't living in the 20th century ( surprising for a traditionally conservative hick state, I know ), and has taken the lead to set what is hopefully a triumphant precedent of drug safety within Australia. The Palaszczuk government has given the green light on pill testing within the state, following the success of trials done in Canberra. The time is still unannounced, but it seems to be a great step into the right direction, one that hopefully other states can follow with.
Queensland has already approved the introduction of these services and the NSW Government will examine the issue at their upcoming Drugs Summit. Hear from harm minimisation experts including a live demonstration of the scientific equipment at Pill-Testing Is Here.
Ok - so drugs, and testing, and governemnt, and etc.. why are the police a threat to the future of festivals?
Lets take popular doof Bohemian Beatfreaks experience as an example. In 2018, they were forced to move their location all together mere days before their 3 day festival was set to commence, after a huge spike in fees promoters are made to pay for mandatory police presence. Their new location was just north of the NSW/ QLD border, in attempt to out run the NSW cops all together.
The festival took to Facebook with the annoucement, adding “It is truly a sad state of affairs when we have government allowing gambling advertising on the Sydney Opera House, whilst music and arts events are shut down by excessive police compliances and User Pay Police requests that are out of step with the nature of these events.”
The fees in question rose to $200,000, a 1900% increase from the previous year, where the police were asking for $10,000 for their presence. Rabbits Eat Lettuce faced a similar problem, even after running 5 successful incident free years, the police wanted to push to shut them down all together.
PROMOTORS & FRIENDS
Australia has always had a complicated relationship with authority. We tend to make a person holding authority prove themselves to be worthy of the title before they gain respect. The authority of music festivals are pretty heavily put onto the event promoters - which in a nutshell means scouting a location, obtaining permits, booking artists, finding vendors, public relations, and most of all, getting people to come to their event.
At the end of the day, promoters obviously need to make a buck, and there certaining has been a feeling amongst punters that they infact arent happy with just a buck, they want multiple bucks, and that this isnt in the spirit of festivals, that they ‘dont do it for the music like they did back in the day’ blah blah blah.
It’s entirely possible that we are too quick to point our fingers at promoters when things go wrong, withdrawing respect and reveling in anarchy instead. With the pressure of finances and the government threatening to shut them down, we can't deny that their job is growing increasingly hard as time goes on. However, the people are only as good as its government, and maybe its time for a re-election.
Are promoters out of touch with what we want, instead focusing on self indulgence and the lining of their own pockets?
Maybe. Upon its death, the founder of Big Day Out Vivian Lees called promoter AJ Maddah a ‘magalomaniac’, accusing him of driving it into the ground to profit his own founded rival festival, Soundwave.
Peter Noble’s Bluesfest-Sticky-Fingers-Fiasco saw local radio stations scramble to give away tickets in an effort to boost attendance, even if that meant free entry.
Splendor in the Grass saw 2022 to be much of a disaster than they obviously would have hoped for. Being dubbed ‘Splendour in the Mud’, Byron Bay was hit with the most rain it had seen in 50 years- which led to a domino effect, each hit being more sinister than the other.
15 hour waits to get into the campsite, an entire third of the festival being canceled before it even began, workers and volunteers quitting at a rapid rate after their tents began floating away while on shift, and the infamous bus line hellscape. . . It was nothing short of a horrific nightmare for all of the event organizers.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what one thing was the biggest domino that has most likely led to low ticket sales this year. All I know is 2023 feels like a redemption year for Splendour, and they’ll have to do their best to win back the punters.
PUNTERS
The search for the scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions. What if we, the punters, are simply the reason why festivals are falling faster than we can count them?
When asking some people why live music was unappealing now, there was a massive sentiment that post covid, we have lost our sense of concert etiquette. People dont look out for one another like they used to in the mosh, instead feeling more entitled to be there, to have their own space, to push closer to the artist.
Festivals used to be just as much about community as it was the music, and if we truly have lost that community then we have lost festivals.
Ok. Maybe we aren’t entirely to blame - as a punter myself, I can’t lie and say I don’t feel disappointed by the state of line ups now when I compare them to what they were 10 and 20 years ago.  I thought maybe my lack of excitement over announcements was just a reflection of my growing age and loss of touch with what is hot and hip. But join any comment section of a festival related post and you’ll find solidarity from all ages.
Promoters will still try their best to sell their diamond studded turd, but without a festival culture that people can get so excited by they look past the lack of ‘good’ artists, it’s a fantasy to think it will sell out.
WHERE TO FROM HERE?
Even after all my research, I don’t really know what the solution is. All we can do is what we have always done, have hope and try to remember why we do this in the first place. Harness that rush of excitement you felt when you saw your first ever live gig, drinking your first ever vodka redbull, waking up hungover in a stinking, muddy tent for the first time. Think about the generations below you who should also have the right to all of these fantastic firsts, and to feel embraced by the power of live music in masses. GOD SAVE OUR SPLENDOUR!!

that’s true, that’s true :)) i still love both names though, they’re very cute. would you have any nicknames? like...app? kuro? wen? i don’t know!
oh geez, i know how you feel, balancing studies with other things...i’m commending you for looking out for your brother and cheering for things to get better for you personally as well too (and for things to get less stressful and all, and for you to get more rest). i also have bags under my eyes too...also, again, one liners with the designer bag thing! amazing. extraordinary.
oopsies, my bad ;))
yeah, me too. just like...oh well, no point in emailing staff about it cuz they’ll fix it whenever. tags, or i just wrote something most of my reader demographic doesn’t prefer (like my angst piece).
i think a lot of my drafts can count as very short blurbs and then i flesh them out. like i have a bullet list or i write a long sentence about the plot. hhhh you make my heart go dudududu cuz i love interacting and chatting with you! you make me feel so validated and seen on this platform. i love your ideas, so it’s a win win when we make a big story together. thank you though. i love reading your reblogs of my fics :,) my heart warms.
mmm, i see...i relate with the skin thing. really, only vaseline can help and i swear by how much of it i’ve used in my entire life, i think it’s safe to say my skin is made up of vaseline by now (it’s petroleum jelly). maybe you can try it, i hope it’ll help (unless by beauty products, you mean makeup, which i have no expertise in).
you should go next time (if you want) cuz it’s like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. i would totally want to go even if i was just a statue in front of them. just to say i did it and also to see them in person. but i understand your worries, i hope you can get the courage to meet up with them soon (and you’ll get the chance to and money too if those are needed).
omggggg, i’m ;_; thank you so much, it’s the biggest compliment to hear that kind of thing about my works. i’m on mobile so it’d be annoying to link stuff (i might go on a reblogging spree soon if i get the chance for my favorite blurbs of yours), but my faves that i can think of off the top of my head are shapeshifter! mingi, boxer! soobin, vampire! jaemin, and artist! niki.
hmm, i consider all my monikers as nicknames so i don't really seek one, if that even makes sense—
ajfgndjgn i didn't even mean to make that a memorable one-liner, it just came from the top of my head 🥴🥴 with him in face to face and me still stuck at home, i sometimes get worried about him but at the same time, i guess this can help him learn to stand up for himself
one day, one day we'll make this platform shake by having a collab—ofc it'll happen after i kick finals and school for being so hard on you. i always have plenty of fun when we interact so that's probably why i reply so quickly. istg i might break my keyboard one day from how hard i press the keys...
i think it's makeup that you have to buy in order to gain a ticket? idk, i was paying more attention to the stands they had on display rather than the products that the brand was selling sjsjejsjn
ooh we should go together so if one of us freezes, the other can gently guide them off the stage before security can get their hands on us—it's just annoying me a little because next month, skz is coming here for a fanmeet too, then in feb: enha concert, march: skz concert, so i'm yelling "SLOW DOWN WE'RE NOT AS RICH AS WE MAKE OURSELVES LOOK LIKE"
yay, yumi's not able to add links ~~ /j
actually... i'm thinking of doing a poll to see which concept(s) would readers like me to expand upon, but it feels like a risky move...

Meredith and making playlists ! <3
Morgannnnn! I’m embarrassed by how long this took me.
Tumblr media
I will take the judgement with grace tho.
You were at Meredith's flat, a place that had become dubbed as the villa of pleasure. Although you still didn't understand why. Despite the image that Meredith tried so desperately to keep up, you bet that no one would have guessed that she was –
"MC, would you be a dear and throw those pizza boxes in the trash? It's starting to stink the place up."
--a complete and utter slob. Old food containers were scattered in her kitchen, filling almost every counter space. Dirty dishes were piled so high in her sink that you feared the whole thing would come collapsing down by one bad breath.
Her living room wasn't any better, although living specimens were designated for the kitchen (you thank GOD for that). Shoes, random scraps of paper, and other miscellaneous items scattered the wooden floor. The couch was packed with what you hope is clean clothes.
"That is it!"
Your shout makes Meredith raise an eyebrow delicately. She's stretched out on the couch, like some plebian model in nothing but a sports bra and shorts, with a magazine in her hand. Her typically curled hair was damp and slick against her head as a Thin Mint dangles between her lips.
"Meredith, your house is on the borderline of needing to be condemned! There's nowhere to sit ---"
"I did offer my face."
"You have trash everywhere, and --" You stop as you think you see something skitter across the living room. "Was that a fucking rat?!"
Meredith looks to where you're pointing and rolls her eyes. "I don't have rats."
"How would you be able to even tell underneath all of this??" You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. "Look, Mers. Your house is a mess; inhabitable would be putting it loosely. What you need is a good deep cleaning and--"
"And who do you propose to do the cleaning?" She munches away on her cookies, barely looking up from her magazine.
It's your house! You want to yell but know that it's hard to reason with her when she gets into one of her moods. "Why don't we have a little competition? Whoever makes the better cleaning playlist will have to clean up."
"Cleaning playlist?"
"Yes! Pick songs that make you feel things, anything. It just has to help you keep moving." And hopefully clean.
She sits up now, a pile of cookie crumbs tumbling onto the floor. "Hmmm, interesting." She stretches, her muscles flexing as she twists her body. "Fine, and what does the winner get?"
You blink, "Uh, not having to clean your trash fill of an apartment?"
Meredith licks her lips, bringing her fingers up to her mouth as she sucks the remaining chocolate from them, "I want something else. How about the winner gets to request anything from the loser for a week?"
You frown, "On top of cleaning your mess?" You think about it and then agree, sure that you'll be able to edge her out with your superior choice of music.
You two separate to different parts of the apartment. You in her bathroom and her somewhere else. Looking at the mess in the toilet fills you with more vigor to win.
Twenty minutes pass by, and you two meet back up in the living room. You play your mini playlist, a selection from your favorite genre and artists—the moods ranging from sentimental to aggressive to moody and then happy. Meredith looks barely impressed when you're finally done but nods.
She goes onto her phone and plays her list. It’s nothing but love songs, singers crooning as they profess their eternal love. Some range from soulful and deep, others light and wispy, the only thing that was constant was the message. That their love was eternal. She’s watching you closely, as you try and look everywhere but her. Your ears-tinged red.  “’Cause I’m never gonna do anything to hurt you or mislead you, I love yooouuuu~”
The last song makes you feel… weird like you were witnessing something foreign and new before you. And you know she knows.
"Well?" She said expectedly, her eyebrows raised as a smirk grows on her face. "What did you think?"
You clear your throat, trying to find the words that were seemingly stuck in your throat. You cough, "Not bad." Your voice sounds hoarse, and you're mad at yourself for sounding so…Smitten. "What even was your inspiration for this?"
She shrugs. "You were. You said to pick songs that make me feel things, and these songs articulate my feelings for you.”
You hated to be called a sucker, but you suppose that’s what you are when it comes to Meredith. You end up cleaning the whole apartment, and by the time the week is over, your thighs have a familiar but pleasurable ache.

!!!List of papyrus things!!!
(Update 3! mini update.)
For anyone who needs more info on the guy! Since you usually dont see alot of info about him!
A list of stuff thats just papyrus's tid bits i've collected overtime!
(Disclaimer: some things can be taken off of memory, though I did search most of the stuff up, so you dont have to worry too much. But if your feeling unsure, search it up! And correct me while your at it.)
his room doesn't play/have music.
(If you have reunited playing at enter his room, it'll disappear forever. Untill you go back and let it play again. Even without reunited, a song that plays no matter what room your in, doesn't play any music.)
Never takes off his battle body.
(According to sans, he only takes it off if he has no other choice too. Otherwise he'll just put clothes ontop of it, or just repaints it if needed. He does how ever, change his pants but never takes off the top.)
the minute "royal gaurd " is out of the picture, he's got nothing.
(It was the one thing he worked up for. When the royal gaurd disbands He says he "working hard on doing absolutely nothing". Then again this can be interpreted as papyrus does say he is working on something, despite not being a royal gaurd yet.)
He lies. (And can manipulate)
(Though he is really bad at lying, he seems to manipulate just fine, though its usually not out of malice. He gets undyne to befreind you by mentioning "challenge", which is a weakness of hers, since she never can turn down a challenge. And has lied about floweys name to her to. Has lied to sans or atleast mislead him about the things he knows about. Pretended he didn't know what a lab was during a call in hotland, but if you call him when sans isn't there, papyrus mentions the lab as if it was common knowledge instead of saying "Labrador-y?" As if he had no idea.)
Changes up his attacks
( if you get captured a few times, you see variation in his attacks. If you do it right, you can get him too skip half of his entire attack.)
Calls his own puzzles "Awful"
(This happens after battling papyrus, he says "WHO KNEW THAT ALL I NEEDED TO MAKE PALS... WAS TO GIVE PEOPLE AWFUL PUZZLES AND THEN FIGHT THEM??" This could be interpreted in many ways.)
Spikes, fire, traps, fencless bridges: are all safe for children, according to papyrus.
("EACH AREA HAS TO HAVE A PRECARIOUS BRIDGE" -bridge likely to collapse, dangerous. "ITS MANDATED BY THE GOVERNMENT. OF COURSE KING FLUFFYBOY WANTS TO UNMANDATE IT SAFER." "WHY?! WONT HE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!)
Has "talked" with asgore before.
(Sadly, asgore and papyrus has crossed paths. Asgore advises him not to but dangerous puzzles around town, for the children. Papyrus wants to put dangerous puzzles around town, for the children. This results in them bickering over saftey laws, with papyrus usually winning.)
Tried to start a flowey fan club
(On multiple occasions calls flowey "his best freind" and shows genuine love for the little guy. He even gave flowey a little red scarf to match his, during the 5th anniversary winter alarm clock.)
Has photo-graphic memory for phone calls.
-call in the room where undyne chased you. He seems nervous, or atleast stressed out during this call. I'll leave any and all interpretation to you.)
(Ps: papyrus has bad memory, but good photographic memory?)
His disliking for grease
(Says this during a call with undyne in grillby's place. Undyne says she loves grease, and he quickly dismisses his opinion in favor of hers. Of course, papyrus HAS visited grillbys before, as the dogamy and doggeressa mention him with sans. )
Calls alphys "great"
(During the first tile puzzle, he praises alphys by calling her "THE GREAT DR. ALPHYS" )
Knows about undynes crush on alphus
(He teases undyne a few times on this, leading to the "hot voice" and "audible wink" papyrus lines. He's not oblivious to the things around him, unless he chooses to be.)
Put limes in his eyes!
(Conversation in hotland! The guy thought limes where cucumbers and stuck them in his eyes. When. He thought it wasn't working he put more limes. It burned like hell but he says it was all to have "mettaton's bishoning eyes")
Knows about mtt's eyes
(Nobody seems to know that mettaton has eyes?! Undyne confirms this fact. Papyrus is the only one who outright mentions it.)
He got mettaton to do the tile puzzle thing
(FOR SOME UNEXPLAINED REASON- mettaton was the tile puzzle robot alphys built. The puzzle robot papyrus had during his own tile puzzle. Infact, during mettaton's tile puzzle in hotland, he says that you'd is this a few hundred rooms ago. If you call papyrus, he starts rambling on all the instructions again. Hehe.)
he likes dinosaur oatmeal
(According to the undertale tumblr, flowey response to "whats papyrus's favorite food?" Is DINOSAUR OATMEAL!! YAY!)
really enjoys mtt's show and mtt in general.
(and mtt even helped him with a tile puzzle)
enjoys cars
Owns a car bed
(Want to drive one)
really freaking artistic!
(Paints a whole bridge, makes a snowpapyrus, made his own costume/battle body, built a okay replica of a sentry station)
The red book on the table in the skelebro's house is infact his!
(For specifics, the quantum mechanics book with infinite books inside of it. It isn't specified who reads it, but both brothers should be capable as jokes and puns are not out of papyrus wardrobe.)
has his own shed and tools.
(Also known as "the punishment shed, doghouse, cpature zone, guest room, a garage" or undyne's pun which was "the coolshed". Ah, to be enriched by shed puns... Wonderful.)
tried to learn the "horoscope"
(Got "stumped" according to sans)
thinks junior jumble is harder than crossword
wants a 6 pairs of hot pants and 6 pairs of legs to wear those pants
has a dream of owning a shop where he just sells flames
(Call near in waterfall, near the turtle man shop.)
He's very influential
(If he's the only one killed in a neutral run, even without undyne, a revolution will still occur. Look into it yourself if need be.)
Called himself a genius
(During the instance, where he talks to you after turning the light on in sans's room.)
Can't really tell when someones mad
(He couldn't tell when undyne was mad at him during a call. He asks us too.)
Doesn't watch anime.
(He thinks its like cartoons for babies. Jokes around with undyne for awhile before taking it all back once he knew she watched anime.-during one of the calls.)
Brutal kind of guy
(He says this himself, i don't exactly know WHY he thinks this of himself, but he does.)
Bookworm
Owns a bookshelf
(He has a book Its where his vast dictionary comes from.
Knows about the time and space manipulation tactics sans uses.
(HE KNOWS- HE MENTIONS IT WHEN HE TURNS ON THE LIGHT IN SANS'S ROOM!!)
believes you can be a better person, if you just try.
(And he's right. Even if you kill him he still believes this, beacuse well.. Its true. Undyne wont forgive you and try to kill you, sans won't fight you, bht he's still right either way)
Knows about river person
(He asks about how river person is doing. No body seems to know about river person, and its unsure if undyne knows about their prescence.)
The days in his date scene (Monday, Tuesday, weekday, Thursday,e.c.t ) changes depending on your computer. Even though the date in undertale is always Monday.
(River person has a scheduled thing that matches up to your computer date as well, but this is about papyrus, not river person.)
Weird abilities
(Flying and super speedy twirling, flying backwards. He doesn't even hide it.)
He's pretty freaking tough!
(According to undyne, the person who defeated asgore.)
His "absolutely normal attack" is a giant cluster of bones.
(In theory, his attack could be the size of the entire area, including the giant bone at the end.)
Papyrus can lower the giant bone at the end of his "absolutely normal attack"
Has Collection of bones (or was planning to make one.)
(The room behind the sink was made for.. His attacks/bones. Before toby(dog)came in and made a shrine instead.)
Is annoying dog's favorite target.
Has a cannon, spears, fire thingy, and a dog at his disposal.
(Displayed during the bridge scene)
One persistent dude.
Likes to say "NYEHEHE!"
Has alot of MTT items.
Owns makeup!
(Mtt brand of course!)
Never dated anyone before.
(He says it himself.)
owns a dating manual
Not much of a sleeper.
(To the point where he just calls sleeping "naps" which aren't that long. He outright says he's always working, so he doesn't sleep.)
Dislikes hotland
dislikes hotland x2
Dislikes hotlands puzzles
Dislikes hotlands ethics.
Doesnt know much about hotland
(Says he knows it like the back of his hand!)
Says he never taken off his gloves, so he has no idea how his hands look like.
(He wears gloves or mittens on top of his gloves. And refuses to take it off, like his "battle body")
Calls hotland's steam puzzles garbage.
Dislikes hotlands conveyors
Thinks L1 and R2 stand for left and right
( Of course, it takes him awhile. He starts making puns, and tries to compare the words to pasta, and THEN comes to the conclusion that its left and right. Its Trail and error.-)
Knows about death.
(Said he wanted to meet death one time during a waterfall call.)
He pauses when speaking as a lost soul.
("I MUST CAPTURE A HUMAN! THEN EVERYONE WILL. ...." This is unusual as he is the only one that pauses. This can be interpreted, but it is rather interesting nonetheless)
Alright this is a bit more interpretive. Things may not be 100% facts down here.
Disclaimer: i will be putting "Interpretive" in red coloring for things that have may my interpretation or opinions in! Please do be mindful in your search, and take it with a grain of salt. It doesn't make it comepelty wrong, it has facts! Just muddled with oppinions.
Ready?
self-worth problems.
( can be called interpretive: He always feels very unimportant, as if he doesn't actually matter. During a call in waterfall, with the puddle hallway, papyrus talks about not letting it "get to you" or something along the lines of that. Since undyne speaks from her experience with the puddles, then i'd assume papyrus would too.)
(I think its just a sign of self doubt or insecurity. Someone once said its dysphoria, which is a cool headcannon for paps or something. What ever it is, he has some demons that he doesn't want to let out.)
Forgetable.
( according to the genocide description)
( Interpretive: Other than that, he's not even noticable. Though, there are a few people that appreciate him, most dont really acknowledge him. Unless you kill him of course!)
Sad/depressed?
( interpreitive as well:Before the human showed up, sans explains how his brother was feeling quite down lately. We see a.. Happier side of papyrus through out our journey.. He vents out to us, the player/human, about things he dislikes, or troubles he faces. Hes like a froggit. Life is hard for a froggit.)
Smiles through things.
("This is where I tried to capture you! What a bad memory." -quote he says as he smiles through it all. He does have a sad emote, but so far i have only seen it during a call in hotland, where the CORE was shown. As your adventure is coming close.. To an end.)
Uses his playful "OUCH!" emote when you straight up kill him. Instead of his hurting/in pain emote when flowey catches him off guard before absorbing everyonesones souls.
(The reason is unkown, but that emote is normally associated with more of "light taps." Examples are, toriel's fireballs at asgore and flowey. Unless... Cutting off his head was considered a "light tap" then, but flowey wrapping him in painful vines is considered more painful than getting his head chopped off and still having enough consciousness to joke about it.)
He knows his cooking sucks and that nobody likes it.
(He's not naive. He knows. He even says it. "Nobody has like my cooking before!" - QUOTE. This isn't some hidden fact. He's trying his best, "mabye next year, he might even make something edible." -sans quote.)
That was all the stuff i gathered for now.

Well, yet another fic no one asked for😃
I wanted to write this because some time go, I was watching the fireworks when this song started to play↓↓↓
And I just thought how romantic it would be if I wasn't forever alone 🙃 so, I build a story around that. I hope you enjoy it!
P.s. This is a F!MC
--
I had been so excited for this day! In the human realm, my hometown this time of year had a huge festival ending with a huge firework show. I had asked to go a week in advance but due to being in the Devildom for the exchange program, I couldn't go. It definitely was a disappointment. However Diavolo, seeing me upset and now curious about the tradition, asked all about it and he thought it sounded fun. Thanks to him always wanting to do anything new, he immediately decided to do the same here in the Devildom.
So through the long week, he asked about everything we would do at the event to make it much more fun and quickly get everything ready to make this last second festival. It somehow all came together and it feels almost exactly like the festival from the human realm. The food, sweets and all! Now it was the time to enjoy the festival!
The brothers couldn't understand why I was so excited for this. Though we all went to festivals and saw fireworks, It was just something that I would always look forward to this time of the year and it's just more special this time around. It kinda feels as if I'm sharing something that I love with everyone I care about in a place where I like to call my new home. Hopefully they'll come to enjoy this as much as I do.
"So, this is called an Elephant ear?“ Beel asked, drooling at the large fried sweet in front of him.
I laugh, as I grab a piece before he can scarf the treat whole, "Yeah, it's just fried dough with powdered sugar on it. They usually sell these at any carnival or festival." I pop the elephant ear in my mouth, savoring the amazing taste.
The brothers each had something to eat as we took a break from all the festival games littered around. We all take two picnic benches for the 8 of us, well, us and Beel's giant pile of food he got. Everyone had won something from the games…well everyone but me and Mammon. Mammon was determined to win a game, yet his luck seemed to be the worse for wear today and all the games we'd gone to all ended up with one of the other brothers winning the game. My luck honestly wasn't any better due to playing the same games that the others had won.
"I'm telling ya! Those games are rigged! The people runnin 'em are just a bunch of con artists!“ Mammon yells, clearly frustrated that he hasn't gotten anything.
"Or maybe you just suck lol" Levi says, holding a Ruri-chan plush to his chest.
"Honestly, you really shouldn't be surprised, you were pretty terrible at all those games since you had no choice but to play fair." Satan adds on, which all the brothers nod in agreement.
Asmo laughs, "Well, what do you expect from a scumbag?"
I start to get annoyed as the brothers all start to bash on Mammon. He seems fine on the surface but I've been around him long enough, with him basically living in my room and all, to see all his little ticks. Like when he's excited, his hand gestures are more dramatic, to emphasize his point or how his eyes light up when something catches his attention, like something to make a quick buck. However, right now, with the way his mouth slightly twitches and his hand shoved into his pockets, he's upset. He really only does this when the brothers throw insult after insult at him, like right now.
I sigh as they continue their assault on him. But an idea comes to mind and it'll be easy enough to pull off.
"Does...that all that stuff apply to me too? Since I didn't win anything either, after all..." I say, putting on my best pouting face and looking down at the ground.
Immediately, the brothers started to panic, trying to reassure me that it wasn't true, successfully drawing their attention away from Mammon. I slightly looked up, passed the frantic brothers to lock eyes with Mammon. He stood there for a moment, a bit confused by my sudden comment. I flash him a quick smirk before looking up at the brothers, accepting their apologies. The brothers seemed to relax and drop the topic after that, returning to the food they have. Mammon, who had seemingly understood what my intentions really were, looked at me, with his face slightly flushed, then stared down at his food.
In Mammon's mind, he honestly doesn't know what force sent Y/N here but, she is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to him. At first, he hated the idea of being her guardian due to all of the extra work he was given. But, as days turned to weeks, her treatment towards him was nothing but sweet and loving. It honestly was a huge adjustment for him, since everyone treated him like scum or useless, having her place so much faith in him, even defending him and doing little gestures like this, it makes his head spin. He honestly couldn't pinpoint when it happened, but, his feelings for her drastically changed, he couldn't deny it now, how he longed for her, wanted her all to himself. How he loved her unconditionally.
I smile, quickly finish eating my food then stand up, "Ok! Time to get back to the games!“ I say, excitedly.
"Y/N, I'm glad you are excited but some of us still need to eat." Lucifer says, glancing at Beel and his mountain of food.
"Awww, come on Lucifer, I wanna try to win something before the fireworks start." I plop down again, putting my chin in my hands.
"Well, I'm sure we'll have plenty of time." Lucifer tries to cheer me up, eating some fries.
Mammon looks up at Y/N, upon seeing her upset. He honestly hated seeing Y/N upset, even if for something so small as to wait for everyone to finish eating. He wanted nothing more than to see her smile everyday, it honestly was one of his favorite parts of the day to see her smile so sweetly. He'll do anything to make her happy. He sits up and scarfs down his food before standing up. "Ok, how 'bout this,' ' Mammon gets up and walks over to me, ' ' since I haven't won anythin', I'm gonna go play some more games and I'll meet ya guys later. Y/N, ya can come if ya want to." Mammon starts to walk away, at a slower pace than he usually would.
"Yeah! Ok!" Before any of the other brothers could protest, I quickly got up and hurried over to Mammon. I can hear the brothers stumbling to get up to follow us.
"Hey! Mammon is stealing Y/N!"
"That's not fair!“
"That scumbag..."
I hear some of the things they're saying as they seem to be trying to catch up.
I grab Mammon's hand and start to make a run for it. "Come on!" I glanced back at Mammon, who seemed shocked. He looks back to see the brothers in hot pursuit of us. Getting the hint, Mammon picks up the pace. We high tail it out of there, laughing like a bunch of kids all the while.
--
Me and Mammon finally stop and I flop on the floor, trying to catch my breath as Mammon puts his hands on his knees.
"I…I think we lost 'em" Mammon pants, out of breath from running around.
"I…I think so…jeez, how…how do you always do this when you get in trouble?“ I wheeze out, my human body not used to running as much as a demon. Especially if that demon is Mammon.
Mammon straightens up, finally catching his breath, "Well, I'm not usually running from ALL of my brothers, just Lucifer mostly."
Mammon reaches his hand to me and after a moment, I let him help me up. He helps me to my feet and when I look up, his face is very close to mine. We stare at each other for a moment before both of our faces turn more flushed than we already were.
His bright blue eyes that have a hint of that golden yellow has me in a trance. When I first met Mammon, it was the first thing that drew my attention, it's honestly something that I always find myself staring at all of the time. They are very beautiful to me and never fail to make me feel relaxed when I see them. But not only that, he is a very handsome man. His rich caramel skin with his pure white hair makes his face stand out even more. He is just so captivating to look at, however his personality is what truly makes him shine. Even if he tries, and fails, to hide his true feelings, he always has his heart on his sleeve, rather if he realizes that or not. He tries so hard to help me or to even make my day brighter when I'm not feeling my best. He even tries to protect his brothers and is always there for them. He honestly is the most caring person I've ever met and I can't help but fall for him because of that.
Mammon looked down at her face, he honestly couldn't help but stare. In his mind, she was more beautiful than anyone he's ever seen. Her beauty not only stopped at her looks but the person she was. She was a true wonder to him, too good to be true yet, here she was, defying all logic. All he wanted to do was look at every detail of her face, her eyes as they shine, her soft skin as the blush covers her face, her parted lips as her breath finally slows down. Mammon was the first to turn away, catching himself now staring at nothing but her lips.
He clears his throat. "W-Well since we're here, let's get to some games!" Mammon says, his fangs flash with his grin.
We made our way to the nearest game booth, both of us looking at the various prizes. The booth in question is a simple ring toss, the bottles are organized by colors which show what size prize you can get. There are the ridiculously large stuffed bears that are taller than me to the very small animal plushies. Scanning all the prizes, one catches my attention, a black plush crow with a yellow tag on it. It was big enough to hold in your arms, it's wings dangled at its sides. It had its beak opened slightly to look like a smile. I glance over at Mammon, who is currently eyeing a plushie of a grimm, that also has a yellow tag hanging off of it. I laugh, thinking of how that plush crow reminded me of him.
Mammon looks at me, slightly confused, "What are ya laughing at?"
"Oh nothing, though I know what prize I want." I smile, looking back at the crow plush.
Mammon follows my eyes over to the plush, he tilts his head at my choice, "Ya sure that's what ya want? There are plenty of things better than that ol' crow."
I nod enthusiastically, "Yeah, I think it's cute, like someone else I know." I playfully push him.
His ears turn a dark red but he laughs, "Well, I know what I want so, let's go and win some prizes!“
We pay the demon running the game and start trying to make the rings reach its mark. However, as in most carnaval games, the rings in question are only slightly bigger than the top of the bottles, making it much harder to win. Not to mention the bottles for the better prizes are further back, making it much harder. As we try a couple times, we don't get much luck and we're running out of grimms to play. However as we reach our last game, even though I end up with nothing, Mammon manages to sink a ring on a yellow bottle.
"We have a winner!“ the demon behind the booth says, walking over to grab the ring.
"Yeah! This was nothin' for the Great Mammon!" Mammon threw his hands in the air, and I cheered with him, "You did it! You won!“
The demon walks back over to us, "Alrighty, you can pick a prize with a yellow tag. Which will it be?"
Mammon's eyes flick to the plush he was eyeing earlier and he goes to speak, but an announcement rings through the speakers all around the festival, "The firework show will be starting in 15 minutes, marking the end of the festival! So hurry and grab a seat to enjoy the show!“ a cheery voice says before the music from before starts to play again. Mammon looks down at me for a moment before a small smile appears on his face.
Mammon looks at the demon and points at the plush crow, "I'll take that one."
I look up at Mammon, "But, I thought you wanted-“ I get cut off by the demon swift return, "Here you go." The demon hands him the crow plush.
Mammon takes the plush from the demon with his usual bright smile and starts walking off, I quickly follow, still confused. Once I catch up, he looks at me with a blush on his face and holds out the crow to me.
"W-well, there wasn't really anythin' I wanted, so I figured I'd get this ol' crow since ya seemed to want it so bad." He says with his usual bravado, yet it was a bit more shy than normal.
"But, you said…" I start to say as I take the plush but, cut my thought short.
Even though I know he wanted something, that much he's been saying all day, he still got me this crow plush. Knowing how he struggles to do these things and becoming a stuttering mess when it's pointed out, I choose to not question him. Yet, I can't help but love him even more, him knowing that I wanted something as well and that he'll be going back home later with nothing. I'll have to repay him later but for now, I'll just enjoy the rest of the festival with him.
I shake my head and give him a smile, one that shows how much I truly appreciate and love him, "Thank you so much, Mammon." I hold the crow close to myself.
Mammon feels all the air in his lungs escape him. Y/N's smile, the sparkle of joy and something more…intimate in her eyes. Honestly, for a split second, he found himself jealous of that crow, seeing Y/N holding it so lovingly. He wanted, no, needed to show her how much he loves her. If not tonight, it'll drive him insane.
--
After looking a bit, me and Mammon found a perfect spot to watch the fireworks. We sat on a hill that was a bit further away from the festival and luckily, we could still hear the music playing from one of the speakers nearby. We sat in a comfortable silence, waiting for the fireworks to begin. Which based on the amount of time it took to find this isolated spot, it should start at any moment.
Mammon is resting his arms on his knees as I sit with my legs crossed, the plush crow close to my chest. I watch all the demons in the distance hurrying to find a spot to watch the show as well. Thankfully, none of them seem to look in this direction. So right now, it's just us, alone.
After a few moments, Mammon looks over at me and shyly starts to speak, "H-hey, Y/N?"
I look back at Mammon, noticing his face slowly forming a blush, "Yes?"
"I…I wanted to tell ya-" Mammon gets cut off by the first firework going off.
We slightly jump, but my eyes widen as the firework show starts, "It's starting!"
I watch as the firework starts to make the usual dark Devildom sky shine bright with many different colors. All the while, a familiar song starts to play on the speakers, making this a moment that I want to treasure always. It was a song from the human realm and it was a song that made this moment feel more intimate. I honestly couldn't ask for a better day, I got to go to the festival with all my favorite people and I even had, dare I say it, a wonderful date with Mammon. The thought of going on a date with Mammon makes my cheeks burn but I truly wish that this day would never end.
Mammon's heart starts to pound in his chest, his gaze never leaving Y/N. He watches as her eyes glow with wonder, watching the fireworks as if it were the first time. She never looked more beautiful, more perfect than right now. If he was ever gonna make his move, it had to be now. Mammon opened his mouth to speak but he couldn't find it in himself to break her trance. However, his greed for her attention, her voice, her touch, for nothing but her, was growing. So, he closes his mouth and takes a deep breath. He leans closer to her as his shaky hand gently touches her cheek to turn her face towards him.
When I suddenly feel a light touch on my face, I snap back to reality. Before I can react, I feel my face being turned and suddenly, Mammon leans in, his eyes close and gently presses his lips on mine, like he's afraid that I'll break. My eyes widen, taking a moment to realize what is happening. Mammon, feeling me not move, starts to move away, most likely worried he did something wrong. But, not wanting to lose the moment, I quickly filled in the space he left, pressing my lips a bit harder than he did. Mammon tenses at my sudden movement but quickly melts into the kiss, holding my face with his hands. I place the plush to the side, momentarily forgotten, I place my hands on his chest for support.
The air stills, the world around us starts to disappear. The only thing to keep us from forgetting the world completely is the sound of fireworks and the song playing so sweetly.
I snake my arms around Mammon's neck, then he takes the chance to pull me in closer by my waist, closing the gap between us. Even though he was nervous at first, he seems to have relaxed, even nips at my bottom lip, causing me to gasp. He swiftly slips his tongue in my mouth, tangling it with mine, deepening the kiss. We held each other close, like we were afraid that the other would vanish.
Needing to breathe, we lean away slightly. I'm not sure when it happened, but I managed to end up on Mammon's lap. Mammon seems to also realize the position we're in and his breath hitches.
His hand comes up and holds my face, "I love ya, Y/N."
My heart flutters and I lean into his touch, "I love you too, Mammon. I…I always have."
"Y/N, I care about ya so much and I…I don't want anyone else trying to steal my most precious treasure from me. The thought of it kills me, because I'm yer first man." Mammon stops, becoming more shy, "I w-want ya to be mine and…I'll be yers…if ya want me."
I feel as though all of the butterflies in my stomach would explode out of me. I can't stop the big smile that appears on my face, "Mammon," I hold his face in my hands, "no one could ever take me away. And not only that but…" I bite my lip, feeling a bit bashful, "You already have me. Now and forever."
If Mammon could, his eyes would have hearts in them. He looked at me with such lovestruck eyes, his face is probably the most peaceful expression I've ever seen. I look back at him in awe, honestly have never seen him so happy, like he's on cloud nine.
A smile is plastered on his face, "I promise that I will be with ya till the end of time. I gotta be the luckiest demon in the whole festival, no, the Devildom. But, I guess I did win something at the festival after all." His smile suddenly turns into a smirk, "What do ya say we go somewhere more private and we can continue…this?"
My face turns red, but I nod. We stand up, I grab my plushie so that we can leave when I suddenly hear someone, or rather, some people, running this way.
"MAMMON!"
We spin around, both of us knowing too well who that voice belongs to. Lucifer and the rest of the brothers are running at full sprint in our direction.
"Oh shit!" Mammon yells out, quickly sweeping me off my feet, making a run for it.
Startled, I grabbed on to Mammon's jacket, making sure to not drop my crow plush, "Ah! M-Mammon!“
He looks down at me, " Well, I might get strung up later, but I'm yer man now. I want ya all to myself and I don't know about ya, but I'm not ready for tonight to end." He flashes his signature smile.
I can't help but laugh, as we make yet another escape from the brothers. This is truly the best day I could have asked for.
