okay but I need to rant about all of my lore music for a second—
I wish you guys could see how much time I spend before every stream setting up songs. I have to set up the order of all the songs before stream and it’s honestly one of the best ways I get my thoughts in order going into a stream. I gotta think about all the changes of vibes and all the specific conversations I know I want to hit.
I have specific songs for specific people too- either for when I do lore with them or even just talk about them with someone else- the best example of this is Rae and “Infinite Amethyst” I exclusively use that song for Rae or talking about Rae (it’s simply the brothers vibes what can I say) but you won’t hear me playing that song without Rae being a part of it.
And then the other side of it is songs matching vibes. There’s specific songs for /pos or /neg conversations, and songs for panic times or solving science things times. And there’s a lot of songs for Icarus introspection times. I love associating songs with moments- like with Whisper Duo bad times + the little nightmares soundtrack- or Quixis and the wack + the Stanley parable soundtrack-
And the COOLEST THING is when I can use music to set the undertones. (Pavlov style babeyyyy)One of my favorite moments is in the first episode of season 2, when Sherbert “meets” Centross again. The conversation itself is completely harmless, happy, and fun but the music playing in the background? Ominous Bane. In literally 3 notes any of the audience who had watched season 1 recognizes that music as bad vibes and it’s MY FAVORITE THING.
Being able to tell a story and show relationships without even having to say any words is one of the coolest things I’ve been able to do with my audience in my opinion.
….and that’s why I’m a film major lmao

i present my stupidly long reactions/opinions post to all of natla. i wrote it all as i watched, and i got more and more words in my head as i went, so it gets long. no i will not be editing this. i am not a review blog, i just have opinions ajhgsfjkf
ep 1 good: -gyatso. i love him so much -overall this was a good enough intro, but not much really stood out to me as good?? it's. kind of a weak intro asjdhgsfh
bad: -fire nation helmets trying to look a little less dopey by adding angles to the eye sockets is stupid af. like i can understand why they might have thought the circle eyes looked dopey, but personally, it felt eery and othering to me, like there aren't people behind those masks. also it's closer to a skull motif than the weird angular half cirlce shape. -aang being able to basically superman fly?? and hover?? it looks really weird, and i also kinda breaks some potential future plots?? like, he can just. hover up into the air and fly away without his staff. and they seemed to have replaced aang's jumping with it. now he just starts hovering. -i dont like that katara doesn't bend aang out of the ice in rage. i dont really care about sokka dropping the blatant sexism, but i still think they should've been fighting about SOMETHING. even without the comparison of their jobs at home, they already had something to bicker about before losing the boat, they should've kept that up. katara's angry bending was such a good way to communicate her character as well as show viewers her raw power and that bending is effected by emotions, i really dont like that they dropped it. -there's a heavy lean into sokka's relationship with aang that's probaly a result of the writers knowing how much the fandom loves sokka lately, but also. it really feels like it's overshadowing katara's role in aang's new life. like, if i hadn't seen the original show, i would assume that the main relationship is aang and sokka from this episode.
overall a servicable intro i guess, but i was. boring. it was really boring asjhgsfh
ep 2 good: -zuko is an artist and they stole his fucking journal im screamin. this is so funny. he's so mad that he lost his fckin diary and aang is using it to figure out his next steps. im just. i love this -actually really liked that waterbending scroll as a gift from gran gran, it makes it a lot more personal and very smoothly sidesteps the original plot for the scroll, which you gotta admit is a lot of screentime that they dont have -sokka trying to impress and relate to suki and looking like a gotdamn fool while doing it. he's fucking smitten. i love this. AND SUKI STARING AT HIM WITH HIS SHIRT OFF LATER. yeah. yeah i like this better than the original episode actually -sokka's dialogue overall is amazing, mostly because he's funny. the funny dialogue is overall pretty good i my opinion. which leads into a bad point: most of the serious and heartfelt dialogue feels pretty unnatural. the actors are overall pretty inexperienced, but the script is doing them no favors
bad: -Lt. Jee has a topknot. how fukcing dare they -they just used "VIP" in a sentence. i dont like the acknowledgment of a latin alphabet. why do they have an acronym for an english phrase using the latin alphabet when we've seen no latin letters anywhere -aang meeting with kyoshi first was fun, but the weird filter they have over the spirit world (?)/the whole scene genuinely makes it hard to look at -NO UNAGI??????? NONE??? NOT A SINGLE GIANT EEL FISH???? -did momo just make a chimpanzee sound. im going. to lose it.
neutral: -zuko and iroh don't know zhao yet… that's fucking wack
a MUCH better episode than the first one, this actually got me excited for stuff
ep 3 good: -love this internal resistence. very cool aspect to explore that i think the main show was missing -CABBAGE MERCHANT -fire nation terrorists in omashu is kind of terrifying. i like it -ok the casting and costume design for the freedom fighters is actually spot on, i love it. also jet's weapon use is so faithful to the original, it's gorgeous -OOOOOOH, sokka's warrior vs engineer, hakoda vs machanist father figure is so good, i love this -THAT FUCKIN LADY WHO JUST STARTED SMACKING ZUKO. im fuckin choking -i did actually really like the fight scene between all the cloths and scaves and stuff, it was short but it was fun. honestly i love every zuko and aang in this episode, it's very good
bad: -did. did they say attitude control on the airship? …did they mean altitiude control…? is attitude a common problem with airships?? (maybe it is, idk shit about air travel terms. mybe attitiude means something else entirely. but i don't think so) -WHy. why are the fire nation spies wearing RED. wh
neutral: -putting teo and the mechanist ("sai" now) in omashu is a pretty decent way to combine plots, but im not sure if i like that it probably wont get aang's grief over his cultural home being changed and partially desstroyed. i always thought that was a super important to aang's character, but also the narrative does have other chances to lean into aang's cultural grief -putting JET in omashu. that's a choice. -Lt. Jee as an informant for zhao… that's wack
side note, this is the point where i really started to notice that the music is… boring. it's super boring. we go from what feels like basically background noise style western orchestral music which really isn't that notable to the credit role remaster, and it's jsut so jarring. have they not been using the og soundtrack?? i can remember hearing the fire nation motif, but like… not much else. might need to go back and listen. what's the point of remastering the soundtrack if you aren't gonna use it?
ep 4 good: -FLOPSY STATUES -im lovin zuko's infiltration thing, it's amusing to watch. but also, maybe a bad point, cuz he's not… very good at it. blue spirit who?? i suppose needinng to talk to people lowers his stealth exponentionally. there's a reason the blue spriit doesn't talk. im leaving this point here cuz im having fun, but it's still got problems -OOOOH they're using this as the iroh captured and zuko choosing to sasve him or find aang, that's clever. the whole "make a choice" thing from that guard was a bit on the nose though. -sokka and katara bonding and chatting about expectations is great. i really like them bonding a lot. HOWEVEER. there is a LOT of focus on sokka's burdens, we haven't once touched on what katara's been doing. this is. an unforseen consequence of removing sokka's (blatant) sexism, isn't it. they cant figure out how to give katara's role the same amount of value without someone to act like it isn't important.
bad: -the implication that sokka is scared of haunted tunnels. why would he be scared, this bitch does not believe in spirit nonsense. unless he does now. natla sokka is supersticious. -i really dont like the mad hatter's tea party vibe from bumi. like, bumi was always off his rocker, but this brand of kooky feels off. -while i like the conversation of soka not trusting katara, i really dont like the seeming personality reversal in the tunnel. it's minor, but it's just so weird to see sokka sasy stuff like "woo love leads the way" without mocking it, and katara beig the one who says that's stupid. -how did they manange to make zuko look older for his flashback. good lord. oh no. -bumi: "you vs me, to the death." im fucking. im so done. i hate this bumi i hate him. i understand him being upset that aang vanished, but he is so fucking mean in this. -ok i. do not like them giving the zhao v zuko agni kai ending to iroh. i really dont like that at all. we lose the point of zhao being a fuckin bastard, about zuko being the type to give mercy (which the show has already thrown out twice now from zuko almost blaasting fire in someone's face after they we on the ground and basically defeated. dont really like that change in character. they added all this awkwardness and these comments about what an honorable soldier shouldn't do, and yet they do this?? dumb), and having iroh defend him with ease. innstead it's replaced with "dont show mercy to earthbenders." ok. -the badgeermoles. sense feelings. and react to them. FEELINGS. im.
neutral: -THE SINGING NOMADS??? i thought this tunnel plto sounded like it could be similar to the cave of two lovers, but i really did not expect to see the singing nomads here. i do love them though -look, i dont care about shipping, but OOF. the poor kataang shippers. they're just throwing out all the kataang scenes but not building up an actual friendship in its place. i'm not a fan
bad episode. did not like this one. there were some goo parts, but overall it was just so disappointing compared to the original. on its own, i supposes it's a servicable episode, but so far, none of the others have really let me down this much in terms of expectations.
ep 5 good -ooooohh. i know this one is going to be controvertial, but i actually love the part where ozai corrects azula in the fact that zuko found the avatar, not zhao, and that he's displaying desireable traits in an heir that she seems to be lacking. like, i wish this came AFTER we had some blatant examples of ozai's favortism towards azula, but i do love the idea that ozai is driving their competition between each other. also that ozai is actually able to be proud of zuko IF he achieves those impossible goals he sets. but we still need more azula favoritism set up. -DID JUNE. FUCK ME, there was so much in two seconds hold on. the western whistle thing. june saying "your dad's kinda cute." she thinks iroh is cute, and she thinks iroh is zuko's dad. im. im fine. -WAN SHI TONG????? WHAT IS HE DOING HERE. my child. i did not expect to see my child in s1. overall, i'm relatively happy with him? wish his face was smaller or the resof him was bigger - he had a lot more poof to his head in the original, in imo a smaller face on the head would help make him look larger in solo shots. he looks pretty scrawny. also the voice is a bit too much old man for my tastes? but i'm picky about this bird. now im just super curious if there will be a library episode if s2 comes, and what that'll look like.
bad: -nothing has exemplified my problems with the changes in this show more than katara not throwing the acorn at aang's head. it's just. her attitude is gone, any whimsy that isn't sokka is gone, and they struggle to meld serious topics with humor. -actual gyatso in the spirit world?? maybe?? first of all, if it is actually gyatso, i dont think they did a good job of prooving that. second, why??? i'm really not a fan of aang actually getting that relief from grief and guilt. guilt is such a huge part of aang's character, i just.. idk, it feels less impactful when he gets actual gyatso telling him its ok instead of learning to manage his guilt on his own, nevere knowing really what gyatso would think og him now, like very other person who loses a loved one. it's just. it feels cheap
neutral -im not sure if i like koh as an actually malicious force in this story. like, it works fine for the narrative presented, but i really liked how koh was in the original, threatening and scary and trying to trick aang into making an expression for snack time, but not actually doing anything but helping aang when asked.
not the best episode, but not the worst. we just did that. it's kind of an in between, so idk if there's much to comment on. overall, im not a huge fan of the plot choices here, but i don't think they're actually bad choices, just not my style.
ep 6 good: -roku: im here to help you with anything you need aang: it has to do with koh roku: …anything but that roku has so much fuckin attitude, i kind of love it -zhao ignoring aang to correct the notetaker guys notes and make he gets his facts straight is both funny and an effective way to show off zhao's ego. also "what are you doing, dont write that down" is makin me think of that one kig who fell of his horse while hunting and said "dont let the historians write about this" and guess what fucking happened -the convo right after was really good imo. aang basically doing a lil test to prove that he and zuko could be friends with their boring old conversation was great. zuko getting mad about compassion is heartbreaking, woohoo. pretty much all around a fun scene, except that last line from aang was a little too on the nose. but at this point, im used to it in this show. -also the journal thing is still great. and i could be totally wrong, but i feel like zuko being super kowledgable about avatar stuff is a fanon thing?? well supported, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't actually come up often how much zuko knows about the past avatars, and fandom kind of took the idea that he MUST know a bunch given his search, and has freuently applied that to aus that turn zuko into this avatar specialist that actuallyhas a lot of info that aang needs. i swear that's a fanon concept, and i kind of love that it's happening here. -Ooohh. omg. the 41st as zuko's crew is DEFINITELY something i've only seen in fanon. the crew NOT KNOWING they were the 41st is completely new, and i honestly adore it.
bad: -not the fuckin mother of faces statue spinning around in his hand like a fuckin loading screen object -zhao yelling "cel - la - brate" like a fuckin party rock song, im. i cant. -blue spirit mask looks plastic. also why'd they make it angrier. i mean, i gujess it doesn't matter, but i dont think it adds anything either. that's a design you shouldn't touch in my opinion, it's too iconic. -the fucking music. the music is so fucking boring. you can't give me one fucking blue spirit motif?? wh. please. i need it -why. why did it take so long to do the whole "i need the avatar alive" and then swords to aang's throat. like. i could deal with that short moment of realization leadinng to a pause, but the actual action of zuko putting his swords to aang's throat feels like it takes forever. the whole shock from the animation was how fuckin immediate zuko's reaction was, how there seemed to be no hesitation from allies with the avatar to betting his life on escape. dont care if they have to speed up the footage, that whole sequence shouldn't have given us time to think. it was too slow from the second zhao told his soldiers to stop. -the agni kai. hm… ok. there's a lot here. at its most basic, i absolutely hate that zuko fought back here, because it feels so incredibly counter to the message of the animated show. like, there's a lot of fuckin weight to zuko's line of "i won't fight you." basically any fanfic can tell you a bunch of different ways this is important. it struck a chord for a reason. zuko fighting back just feels wrong. that said, i don't think it's a god awful scene. it's disappointing and abandons half of the origial meaning, but on its own in the context of the show as we've seen it, it works. we still get the trauma, zuko learns the idea that compassion is weakness, and it's still horrifying in the end. but compared to the original, it does feel like the writers here missed the point of zuko refusing to fight in the original, and that's the most frustrating part.
neutral: -torn on how i feel about zhao tagging along with zuko instead of them being phsycially separate. like, i guess it works, but zhao feels more slimey and less powerful this way. like, i'm not constantly reminded that zhao has more influence and more resources through this partnership. but then again, this episode also kind of solves that issue? i guess it doesn't matter, i just didn't like it. -zuko is a very vocal fighter, and he also makes a good amount of noise during his blue spirit fighting. i guess it doesn't really matter, especially cuz we dont have dante basco's crazy recognizable voice to deal with, but it still feels a bit disappointing for the blue spirit to make noise when we're used to dead silence
i might be going crazy, but i swear i heard some of the original guard grunts from the show when zuko's beating up the guards in front of his cell. i might be crazy, but fuck. ANYWAY. overall i did like this episode. going off the last episode, it still had a lot of plot bits i didn't care for, but overall it's good. yes there are issues, but im honestly more impressed by the things they introduced than i am annoyed with the things they changed. im still thinking about the 41st, like fuck
ep 7
good: -zuko's "ship" blew up!! that's an intersting change, but i think it's a clever one! though i do wonder what will become of zuko's actual ship considering it's fine. my favorite character, alive and well. have fun drowning, zuko. but also, this seems much more brutal to me?? cuz like. jee and iroh were trying to save zuko, and they ended up putting himself in danger in doing so. that's worse than just not being around when danger happened like in the animation, imo. -YUE HAS A FURSONA????????????? -i do love that whole scene of azula putting her foot down and refusing to do more of ozai's dumb little tests of strength. like, maybe not true to her animation arc, but i do like it -honestly the change where katara "wins" the fight with pakku not cuz pakku has a crush on her grandma but because everyone else who watched her figt thought she was badass was really nice. crowd vote says fuck pakku
bad: -OOF THAT FIRST SHOUT OF THE NORTHERN WATER TRIBE. oh that is not good. i haven't mentioned the cgi yet, but this is. oh dear. technically it's eas to miss, but still. -im so sorry, im sure she's lovely, but the first short of yue is so bad, she looks like she does not want to be here at all. i actually startedlaughing out loud wtf -oh i forgot momo existed. but now thtat he's here, he's ugly. i dont like him. -sokka and katara look so fucking pale next to hahn and arnook. i hate it
neutral: -im still neutral about azula and ozai's whole tough love thing. azula's lack of confdence and anger at not feeling good enough really feels like a zuko thing instead of an azula thing. she really doesn't come across in the original as worried at all about how she holds up next to zuko. in a vacuum, i don't think it's a bad choice, but compared to the original it is a jarring shift
overall pretty good. i dont like aang's protective behavior, but i do like that it's showing off some of aang's more negative qualities. we didn't get a bato episode or a intro to the storm episode here, so we haven't really encountered that yet. also im happy katara got to be sort of mad. a little.
ep 8 good: -i do like the early war balloons i think, it feels more reasonable that zhao snuck into the city vs got all the way back to the spirit oasis on komodo rhinnos withou being stopped or followed like they did in the original. -katara mastering waterbending literally without instruction is kind of badass. that whole exchange of "you've found a master haven't you" "yes, it's me" was pretty fun. idk how realistic it is, but like. in the original, she also masteredd waterbending in a matter of days, so. niether are that realistic -i kind of like how fuckin visceral the moon spirit getting stabbed is. like, minor change, doesn't matter, but still. that one shot of the bloody bag with a knife sticking out of it was lovely -ok that's spooky as fuck, the "there is no aang" thing with koizilla. like, the idea that this isn't just aang being possessed or lending his aide, this is him straight up giving up his life to la in that moment -that whole thing about zuko just beig a tool ozai uses to motivate azula was really well done actually. great acting, basically all that fanfic worthy revelation emotion, it was super good. like i was kinda thrown by ozai giving all control around hunter the avatar to zhao after seeming so impressed that zuko found the avatar in the first place, but really, i been played a fool. he doesn't care, he's manipulating azula. this is what the favoritism looks like. yikes. -also obsessed with the visual they talked about with aang/la wandering the world forever in search of a partner they wont find. this new context that koizilla really wasn't just a fuck you to the fire nation, it was meant to be permanent. like, fuck, i love that
bad: -OH THEY GOT RID OF ZHAO GOING TO THE SPIRIT LIBRARY i hate everything. what's the point. they're just gonna nix the library all together. wan shi tong is never coming back. sokka v wan shi tong will never happen. my entire career is over. -kuruk just appearing in a random doorway is wack -koizilla looks bad. baaaaaaaaaaad. where's the glowly lines -ok great yay we got zuko turning his back on zhao and getting attacked, but first of all that meant nothing cuz zuko DID ttry to kill him, zhao just dodge, and second, la should've taken zhao. i just. it's a more satisfying death for him, and also zuko's whole take my hand thing is super fuckin important too. but zuko in this show as a traumatic aversion to compassion, so whatever i guess.
pretty good finale, entertaining and got some good emotion stuff. better than most of the episode's emotions honestly
overall good: -before i speak i need you to look at my icon. scroll down the blog a bit. just take that in. ok? ok. i think zuko kind of carried the story here. overall i was very impressed by his acting, and yes, it was much more awkward and tear-ready than animated zuko, but also that's my fuckin jam. he's out of character in a lot of ways, but all the characters are, and like. lets be fucking real, this is fanon zuko. this is how the majority of fandom characterizes him. -set design was very nice in my opnion. casting choices (minus the water tribe sibs) were amaing visually, maybe no so much in terms of talent but we deal. while the costumes look too new and fee fake, it's not the worst. if you go into this expecting camp and trashy fun, you'll enjoy it. you can't set your standards high -once again, take a scroll through my blog. ok. i love how often aang is just like. clearly dissappointed with zuko's lack of desire to change, how much he wants to connect to zuko but zuko wont stop fuckin hissing and spitting. if aang got to have personality in this script, he'd basically be pointing at zuko like "that's my emotional support enemy," i swear to fuck. i might be pushing it on how much they were really like this in the narrative, but i dont care, im having fun asgjhdfh
bad: -momo and appa both look creepy. they give me realistic pokeon vibes, and not in the detective pikachu type of way. like, detective pikachu is what i was hoping for, something that preserved the cute and still felt semi real. this didn't do that. momo is weirdly top heavy and his eyes scare me, and appa has weird, ever present droopy lips, especially at the corners. it's just uncanny -i dont like how bending looks. it's okay i guess, but it's got so many extra busy particle effects that it feels uncontrolled. i always pictured masterful bending as being really smooth and pretty unnatural looking- smooth water bubbles, fire with weirdly contained flickers and not much smoke, earth without a bunch of crumbling pebblees, air without dust everywhere you dont want it. the wobbly water and earth bending with so many fuckin shards of debris and the firebening with so many sparks is disappointing cuz i would've worldbuilt that to be a lack of mastery thing. anyway. it's fine. -aang is not happy and excitable, and katara isn't angry or sassy. they have the personalities of cardboard boxes. rip.
i actually liked that a lot. lots of good and lots of bad, but overall i had fun and that's what matters. maybe not something i'd rewatch if i didn't have atla brainrot, but not fuckin god awful. the characters were pretty different from their animated counterparts, and that's very frustrating in its own way, and the script was full of poorly written dialogue, and the acting kinda of sucked in a lot of places, but. but. i had fun, and im probably gonna rewatch it, and im gonna enjoy applying these ideas to fanfic and fanart. overall, im glad it exists. it's not going to replace the original, it's not meant to, but it's just trashy fun. i love trashy fun.

Now I shall put some of my favorites of the unfinished art from the 100 Kayano Days challenge. [Rubs hands together]
These are all in order from old to new, from September 2022 to January 2023.
Tumblr media
It's a hot day. Karma: "I want cuddles, and I can't cuddle Akari (she'd kill me). So..." Nagisa: "You're too hot." Karma: "I know I am." Nagisa: "YOU KNOW THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!!" Karma: "Cuddle time." Nagisa: "IT'S 31 C!!! AKARI, HELP!!" Akari: "Sorry Nagisa! I have another love to attend to. You're on your own."
(Lol the dialogue is kinda off but I like what I was trying to go for.)
Tumblr media
Aguri lives AU but at what cost. Akari is this 🤏 close to losing it.
Tumblr media
Adults Kayano, Kanzaki, and Karma went to that one cafe that was doing that collaboration with a popular video game.
Tumblr media
GoM AU, with Akari slowly turning into an antimatter creature. It took a long time for her to transform, and there was no cure to stop this. It wasn't fun, but at least her friends were there for her.
Tumblr media
Kayano and Akari, Deemo AU, based on that one art for ANiMA from the game.
Tumblr media
Okay, THIS one I still like a lot. It takes place in the Okinawa arc, and the concept was that there'd be a montage where each student would use Korosensei's Ultimate Defense Form as a blunt weapon to knock out all of the guards. And then end with Karasuma taking out Takaoka the same way.
Tumblr media
GoM AU again. Nagisa excitedly shows off one of his partners. ...and yes I made antimatter Akari 10 feet tall. :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surprise Koro Q! Based on that one episode from the anime. Imagine if the transformation was permanent.
Tumblr media
Baby shark doo doo doodoodoodoo...onesie.
Tumblr media
Shirt reads: "I am completely normal and not insane I have no desire to harm anyone I am not carrying a weapon." I like the potential chaotic vibes in NagiKae. They're besties.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eldritch AU!!! Context: some of the 3E students are eldritch beings, and Kayano is the reincarnation of an ancient being that ruled a whole other dimension filled with other eldritch monstrosities, which she can summon. This AU gave me so many brain worms, yet not enough to help me finish any of them. 😩
Tumblr media
I have a bleak zombie apocalypse AU. Takes place after their high school graduation, probably after the events of Korotan D? Kayano's half-infected, Nagisa's a zombie, Karma has severe head trauma that he can't fix and it's making him go wack, and Gakushuu's trying to keep everything together.
Tumblr media
I wanted to draw more than one birthday art for Akari and this was one of them. Just her and her big sister...
Tumblr media
This one was gonna be a prank. Forgot about it though LOL.
Tumblr media
The concept was Kayano arriving in limbo, dazed, after getting killed. But Aguri tells her to go back. It's not time yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aberration AU. Takes place 4 years after canon, right around the time they're in college. The monster behind them is basically both of them. Their memories and DNAs make up the monster. Kayano and Nagisa are unhealthily codependent after being kidnapped and used as experiments for...3 years. 😐 But it's okay. They eventually get rescued and get therapy.
Tumblr media
Kayano twins AU. I was gonna draw a short comic about the twins but I had to give up because I was struggling for some reason. (Why is this pic so LONG???)
Tumblr media
One of the Christmas/Karma birthday ideas. It'd have Karushuu kissing under a mistletoe. Kayano's just here for the desserts, man.
Tumblr media
Eldritch AU. This would be a sequel to Day 88, featuring Kanzaki (she's a time god) instead, but I didn't have enough motivation to finish it.
Tumblr media
This is just Day 93, but Aguri and Korosensei were supposed to be there with her, along with the rest of group 4!! But I ran out of time.
Tumblr media
And finally, this is another limbo situation where the Yukimura sisters would hug each other one last time. But then I thought it was too sad and went for the "Aguri lives" ones.
If you made it all the way to the end, then WOW thanks for reading!! Hope y'all liked reading about my thoughts! There are actually more arts that are unfinished but those are like...really messy lol.

TNG UPDATE TIME. wednesday (i think?) we did "the loss" and "data's day" and thursday we did "the wounded."
the loss: GIRL GO OFF. deanna was INCREDIBLE in this episode. the way she immediately called out other people acting weird around her because now she's disabled...she was so angry and scared but also like weirdly assured at the same time. very much in a take-no-bullshit (except her own) mood we rarely see from her
also, her and riker this episode...a whole "imzadi" mention and everything. i DON'T like the way he called her aristocratic but she did tell him off about it in the end so i can live with it. sorry to say this but it's a very ben and claire dynamic they had going on in this episode. i was fascinated
the whole time i was thinking about her horrible mother, who always encouraged deanna to talk with her mind and not her mouth. i'm so glad she wasn't in this episode. she would have made deanna feel SO much worse.
i loved her little moment with guinan too wah...guinan the only person on that ship who got through to her because she WASN'T walking on eggshells. god!!! women.
data's day: I LOVE HIM SO MUUUUUCCCHHH
HIS CAT. I THOUGHT THERE WAS A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT THE CAT. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN...
also, data tapdancing <3 he did a great job. what a funny thing for beverly to know too.
finally some true o'brien content??? i hear jokes about his immense suffering constantly so im assuming poor keiko dies eventually. rip queen
btw, keiko was in mash. except in mash she was korean, not japanese. wild how that works. (rosalind chao is chinese.)
"geordi is my best friend" 🥺
the only truly wack thing about this ep is that the log was going to maddox. FUCK maddox. i'll kill him with my bare hands.
the wounded: HELLOOOOOO tng sometimes does pop off
first of all, SO thrilled to finally meet the famed cardassians. secondly, holy shit about the monster war makes out of people
like obrien isnt being racist bc he hates the enemy or whatever like that would be totally understandable (not at all acceptable, but understandable) given the circumstances but they went deeper. they literally went deeper. he was like actually i DONT hate cardassians i hate myself for killing one. KING.
his talk with that crazy ass captain at the end was so fucking good. them singing the war song together...my jaw was on the ground. like some people literally do fucking need the war.
i think the plot twist at the end was so good too. that he can be RIGHT about the supply ships but WRONG in what he chooses to do about it is so nuanced and important...i wish tng was good like this more often. what an ethical dilemma they presented here and like with so much compassion for people who are doing bad things for good reasons, and even for the innocent cardassians who that captain guy killed, because even if they're doing bad things for bad reasons it's not acceptable to like. just summarily execute hundreds of people. idk. it was great.
do you know the cold war was STILL GOING when they aired this episode. i think about that a lot
NEXT TIME which is hopefully tonight: "the devil's due" and "clues"

TDI23 Season 2 ep 5 and 6 thoughts and theories. Spoilers ahead.
*I have seen the character spoilers for eps 8-10 but I'll only mention the challenges in this post.*
Ep 5: Running around an ice berg doing either an obstacle course or a maze to collect keys that will open a safe to retrieve a coin and bring it back to the island. This challenge was alright and the angry baby seals were funny. And the Yeti showed up again but didn't do much.
Ep 6: Partner up with someone, grab a canoe, get it to the water, then joust against your partner with a dueling stick to win and advance in the bracket. This is the third reference to Squid Game and I'm a little disappointed with some of the duo's tbh. I would have loved to see Raj vs Wayne and Julia vs MK but at least there was Axel vs Ripper. The final part with the horses on water skis was wack but at least they didn't get hurt.
*Ep 7: cake baking and a special guest judge
*Ep 8: human pinball
*Ep 9: tearing apart large objects
*Ep 10: memory game
*Ep 11: hunted by attack dogs and a pug
*Ep 12: fishhook challenge involving their worst fears
*Ep 13: final episode of the season
Merging the teams with 11 people left is crazy to me but I guess Chris just wanted to make MK suffer right away after she stole his hairdryer. There is also an immunity idol hidden somewhere and I hope Zee finds it, I'm still rooting for him to win! 💪
Chris:
I enjoyed him suffering through a bad hair day and loved how Chef kept giving him funny styles. So he did know about the cheating but didn't do anything about it until MK crossed him personally which doesn't shock me at all tbh. I'm glad he made her suffer though but Julia still needs to get her own dose of karma too. 🙏
Chef:
Owned a hair salon in the 80s and it shows lol. I laughed at his medieval outfit and his small moment in the confessional.
Eliminated contestants:
16th: Lauren/Scary Girl - still no sightings but ep 12 is going to involve the contestants worst fears so maybe she'll show up then? 🤞
15th: Chase
14th: Millie
13th: Emma
12th: Nichelle - She did pretty well in the challenge and I loved her sass towards Julia at the beginning but then she gets hired for a movie trilogy and quits the show just like that??? I feel bad for her since the contract is fake but she did save Zee from probably being eliminated but damn, what a way to end a character arc if there isn't a season 3. Hopefully she'll get taken back by Hollywood anyway now that she's a badass.
11th: Bowie - He let the girls + Ripper cheat in the ice challenge but put his foot down when they went too far in front of Raj and Wayne which was great to see. He didn't have too much angst with his boyfriend and they are staying together. His elimination was complete crap and no one can convince me that the Rat Faces dislike him more than Julia or MK.
Merge
Priya:
I still don't like her crush on Caleb and now that the teams are merged it's only going to get more annoying I fear. Her kissing her pillow was weird and telling her secret to Zee was a bad move. They both have controlling/strict parents and are starting to bond more than they were before but drama is likely on the horizon.
Caleb:
He really is as dense as plywood. Of course he's started to develop feelings for Priya right after he told Zee that he's only spending time with her to make an alliance with her. 🙄 The drama is coming, I can smell it.
Damien:
I laughed at him sassing Chris about being a bad person. He picked up on Priya's and Caleb's closeness, plays DND and he won the jousting challenge somehow, good for him! Ep 12 is the fear challenge so I can see him sticking around to face off against Lauren which would be really great to see. 👀
Axel:
She's just making out with Ripper a lot and not much else, super disappointing to see. 😔
Zee:
He found out about Priya's crush but is terrible at keeping secrets. I thought it was funny how the soda cans kept multiplying every time he was in the confessional. Pee isn't strong enough to melt that much snow/ice at once. He barely avoided elimination thanks to Nichelle quitting but I'm really worried about him. He thinks that Caleb just wants an alliance with Priya and doesn't know that he's started developing feelings for her which will most definitely lead to him spilling the beans and possibly being targeted for elimination. I really hope he finds the immunity idol to stay in the game longer or wins immunity when he needs to. I'm not ready for him to go home yet! I also want to know what he was going to ask Priya when he walked in on her kissing her pillow. 👀👀👀
Raj:
It was great to see him angry about his team cheating again but I'm glad that he didn't break up with Bowie. I hope he gets back at Julia for getting him eliminated somehow.
Wayne:
He was angry about the cheating too but it came off as more comical than Raj's anger. Him looking in two different directions freaked me out and apparently he has a really thick skull that got him included in a medical journal. I laughed at him annoying Julia and I hope he helps Raj get back at her.
Julia:
She is an absolute savage and has no qualms about being as underhanded as she needs to as long as she gets what she wants. She also has mile-thick plot armor to not get eliminated in the first episode of the merge. I'm beginning to think that she'll be the one to betray MK first before the reverse can happen. I can't wait for her to get what's coming to her.
MK:
Cheating has consequences, especially when you screw over Chris. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her suffer for everything that she's done but she didn't get eliminated which means that there could be more karma to come her way.
Ripper:
He's just making out with Axel a lot and is apparently fine with cheating in challenges. Not sure when he'll get eliminated but hopefully soon. I think he's the pain magnet for the season.
Each week I get more stressed out about what will happen next and I think that is a pretty impressive feat for a cartoon show meant for a younger audience or I'm just weird like that. 🤪 Excited for tomorrow, thanks for reading!

for the choose violence ask meme i'm gonna ask for all the secret nice answers because i fundamentally misunderstand the point of the game, so for atla, #1, #12, #17, #18 and #22 please :3
HELLOOOO thank u for these !! i saw them on my commute to work so i've been thinking abt these... here we go........ (under the cut woohoo)
1: the character everyone gets wrong
i think the great thing abt atla fandom is people tend to enjoy rethinking characters and coming up with different motivations. so idt there are a lot of widely-held opinions about the characters that i really disagree with. so i guess i would say ursa and not in the everyone gets her wrong way but i do think the show did her kinda dirty. i've yelled abt most of this in replies to comments on in flammam flammas but the show kinda missing mum troped her and you have this woman with so much potential as a complex character who more or less gets co-opted into developing zuko's redemption arc. it's also just a bit agggghhhhh cos atla is full of interesting dads and so many of the mums are relegated to the backstory...
12: the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
idk if this counts LMFAOOOOO but let's be honest with ourselves. ozai is a major zaddy
17: there should be more of this type of fic/art
suki/azula?!?!?!? i read this 1 fic and it was so great so i went tramping through the tag and there's so little there. i actually do have an idea kicking around in my head but need to really pin it down... tried writing a bit of it but couldn't quite get the voice right. but i wanna make it happen
18: it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
HMMM i really racked my brains thinking of this one but i have landed on: the absolute potential of the southern water tribe being southern. other creators have approached the subtle northern vs southern cultural differences in really creative ways but as an antipodean i can't help but think: what about antipodean Indigenous cultures? surely we could have Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander influences (we already have a boomerang), or Māori influences (in terms of seafaring)???
22: your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
so this is by no means my actual favourite part of canon cos i can agree the episode is kinda wack but. i think the very interesting idea that the painted lady puts forward is the idea that ways of knowing/living in the landscape have been disrupted significantly by the fire nation's war machine, not only outside the nation but also within the nation itself. we see that with the school propaganda but the knowledge specifically tied to landscape is significantly disrupted (if not entirely destroyed) and the residents are alienated from the spirit of the river etc. i mean the episode could've explored all of that way better but my brain is full of destruction of knowledge systems ! and that episode really twigged something in my brain

Finished season two of osomatsu, wasn't as good as the first but i did like it, while there were bits that did have me gasping for air it wasn't as frequent as with S1, i loved the bits that where like mini stories! I love when u put guys into situations like taxi driver Kara, little spirit girl oso and president dekapan i think those may go on for a bit too long but i appreciate the kind of humor where run a joke into the ground, i still laughed! The vulgar humor felt somehow even more vulgar and yes i still laughed, i don't care that much for iyami but his episodes keep being either really funny or really sad and i appreciate it also also!! Oso n Kara !!!! I love the shitty eldest and how they got more bits i liked that also totty being the joke in S2 was good i think he can take it better his straight man act also gets called out it's fun this post somehow turned into a review whoops
The openings!!! The endings!!! I swear all the funds for this anime go into them and not enough into making the jokes funnier but I'm ok with that actually osomatsu San can be a little trashy,as a treat
Two last episodes where good, idk how else to say it the way the characters behave + how they have to return to status quo bc the nature of a gag anime is both heartbreaking and hilarious
I also watched the movie bc as i said earlier i feel kind of a completionist vibe here bc i actually just wanted to watch the movie bc i saw a karamatsu clip on yt n my love reawakened it was actually all sorts of embarrassing tbh, soil had to watch S2 but before that i had to get refamiliarized with the characters so i had to rewatch S1 but then i had to go watch clips on yt an Nico and it was whole thing u know, I've had a busy week.amyway the movie was good! Cried at the end i love nozomi lots and I'm upset she's movie exclusive the music was not bad but also not the best but also i was too busy laughing to NOTICE the score in this y'know, ALSO THE REUNION WAS PAINFUL TO WATCH AAA A y'know how when Kara says something cringe or painful like those hurt a certain way but I'm too endeared for it to actually matter THIS was next level cringe and maybe it's just bc I'm a twenty xxxxxxx year old or whatever but i actually felt physical pain during that which is estrange! We don't have school reunions here??! I may not have a job but I'm still studying and also doin internships so while the pain of being a useless fuck in society or whatever should hit to deep It did!! The power of anime it's strong dog i wanna get a job now? Wack! It was a good movie 10/10 would force my friends to watch it with me, karamatsu was real cute!!<3

AAAAAAHHRFR THE FIRST EPISODE?!??!
CHEWING, SCREAMING, SPINNING IN A CIRCLE
WOW. Okay,,,. can we please please PLEASE talk about the first episode because. AAAA
Tumblr media
SO. here are some of my like IMMEDIATE thoughts
WOWOWO Teeth!!!!! Oh my GOD (gods?!?!?!)!!!! obsessed. actually so fucking obsessed. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS
WHY IS TEETH'S HOUSE A MUSEUM?!??! clearly they aren't like a celebrity (well at least not a LIKED celebrity akjdshadj) but they're also like clearly VERY well known. Apparently they've committed every single crime ever?? I mean iconic tbh but why a museum?? DId people think they died?? were they EXILED?? so many questions hhrngnh
AS LONG AS WE'RE TLAKING ABOUT TEETH did anyone notice Olive exists as a STORYBOOK in Teeth's reality?? HUH?? THat can happen? AND MARIS LOOKED LIKE TEETH'S ""EXALTED" (spelling??) WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? How are the "realities" connected??? What connects them?
OKay also on that subject -- that biography Teeth picked up i -- aksdhasj WHO IS THAT ON THE FRONT COVER??? pic included for ref btw vv
Tumblr media
SO WHO IS THAT?? I mean that's clearly Teeth's hand??! It's clearly some sort of scandalous affair i mean but if Teeth is accused of EVERY CRIME then why is this one such a big deal?? Was the person their relative?? Friend?? LOVER?? A celebrity?? (i mean w those boots we can see outlined..,,,,, slay tbH??? in multiple ways??)
5. Teeth wrote SPECIFICALLY "they're lying to you"... THEY?? I assume that means Teeth isn't guilty of ALL of those crimes (hopefully??) but is they the govt?? A group of critics?? evil people?????!?! what the FUCK /pos
6. ALSO worth mentioning i mean this house clearly had a lot of people living in it... you can see the wedding clothes, childhood objects etc etc -- where is everyone else?? were they kicked out/??? did they leave willingly??????? AHSDJASDKSJADHKDHHHHHH I NEED TO KNOW MORE
7. OKAY SPEAKING OF OLIVE -- omg i'm so obsessed w her hhrnrhghr talking to snails is the gender of the day folx
8. so Teeth has Olive's storybook -- how far does it go???! do they know everything that's going to transpire?? stuff that's already happened?? frothing at the mouth /so so pos
9. OLIVE JUMPS THE WALL BAD BITCH but what's the deal with the wall?? WHERE IS SHE GOING WHY IS SHE GOING TOWARDS WATER WATER IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE HERE QUEEN STOP NOOO
10. WHY is grey green dude ("Scholar"??? i think i'm starting to get a hang of this) following her?? OLIVE WHAT DID U DO GET BACK HERE!!! I'm also starting to get the vibe each "reality" has v v v v different pantheon members bcz this dude is so crazy
11. OKAY NOW 42 -- omg. WOW. the vibes holy SHIT my smol bean <3 sinnamon roll <3 <3 <3
12. SEE IT'S GREY GREEN GUY AGAIN BUT HIS VIBES ARE SO DIFF?? okay so like. he's clearly 42's boss but their relationship is kinda wack bc WHY IS "BOATMAN" STEPPING IN?? does this mean 42 is like their warlock now or something?????
13. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH 53?? he did NOT look happy to see 42 omg omg does 42 have a reputation?? or is there just beef between them in particular????? AAAAaaa i can't evennnnnnfjsdj
14. 42 looked HAPPY to see signs of "traveler".... *eyes emoji* bc what is THEIR relationship???
15. DARLINGWHATISINTHATTRUNK??!?!
16. Okay Darling is aligned w BLUE GUY (exalted again!!) this is so interesting omg i wouldn't have expected that?? like pink person is beauty and high achieving stuff so that's super interesting
17. NOTABLE ABOUT THE DARLING STUFF -- so Darling is like WORKING with the pantheon??? she's also like the only non-pantheon person we see -- HOW DID SHE GET HERE WHAT DID SHE DO TO GET HERE??? like everyone else is either MEGA separated in power or they're all chill but she is like THE ONLY NON-GOD??! tf
18. why do I stan Donny tho I --
19. MARIS??! MILF ALERT????? LITERALLY CW: MILFS AAAAAAAAAAAAA I AM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH
20. MARIS IS ACTUALLY LIKE FIGHTING THE GODS. HOLY SHIT okay so clearly there's gonna be some ~conflict~ here bc WHAT!
21. maris is tatted too...... omg... ANYWAYS
22. okay so who tf is Maris afraid of??? like she squared up w stone guy and seems to have fought krackens so WHO SCARES MARIS??? I'm scared hold me,,,,,,
23. TUCKER HAS MY WHOLE HEART IMMEDAITELy
24. KYYYYYYYYYLE okay so this is SUPER interesting Tucker is literally just CHILL w the pantheon like?? they're not gods or anything they're just dudes??
25. ALSO tucker is like totally fucking w the pantheon!! why are there no consequences here??? it seems like this place like. doesn't have any laws?? okay why is this place so idyllic and perfect for everyone except for tucker??? NO OFFENSE QUEEN I LITERALLY LOVE U BUT PLS SEEK THERAPY
26. WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE GRAVE HEY UH WHAT
27. FOLLOW-UP QUESTION??? WHOSE GRAVE IS IT????? BC UHHHH TUCKER IS BRINGING THE GRAVE FLOWERS AND AHHH TUCKER MY SWEET PRECIOUS BLORBO ALSO WHY THE *FUCK* DOES THE GRAVE SAY "I'M SORRY"??? WHO'S SORRY????
28. all i can say after that is. omg. why did Telos take all of them????? why these people??
29. also shoutout TELOS bc omg <3 my sweet summer child ASLKJDjsdklja why is he so baby
30. WHY ARE THEY ALL AT TELOS' HOUSE WHERE IS TELOS' HOUSE WHAT'S GOING ON W ALL OF THEIR REALITIES
FUKCKJDJKSHC okay this is going to be my whole personality for LITERALLY forever now I'm screaming crying scratching
it also must be said... the shipping potential here is >>> heheheheee but that will have to be it's own post
okayokayokay i just needed to get that out of my system hrfshnasd LOVE YOU ALL KTHXBAI

I ignored Story A Day May this year, but I just listened to this episode of the podcast and it highlights why I love Story a Day so much more than Nanowrimo. It's kinder, gentler, calmer, more mature.
A lot of the tips in this episode kind of had me rolling my eyes like, "Yeah, this is the obvious baby stuff, please tell me something I don't know," but then it would just wack me upside the head with obvious baby stuff that I didn't know, or at least hadn't considered in that way before.
The two Obvious Things that had me reconsidering my entire writing life were:
Some writers require novelty, so switch up your routine if it stops working for you. I've usually seen this framed as, "Every writer and every project is different, so try different things until you figure out what works best for you." With the implication that once you found the right routine or used the right strategies, the project would be smooth sailing. So I'd try to figure out What Kind of Writer I Was, because I hate change, so clearly this lack of focus meant that I just hadn't found the right strategy yet. But it always felt like I'd find something that worked beautifully and would work forever, but then like, 2-3 days later, it wouldn't work anymore. Apparently I was too irresponsible to stick to a routine like a Good Writer. But this was the first time I'd seen this framed as a normal thing. That people can change their routine or their tactics multiple times in one month. That your routine can be switching it up to keep things exciting. I haven't been unfocused, I've just been chasing novelty because that makes writing exciting for me! Everything about my writing life suddenly makes sense and I can stop feeling guilty and instead work with it!
If you miss a day, don't try to catch up. Just ignore it and move on. This was mindboggling after having so much experience with the Nanowrimo school of writing challenges where they're like, "Make sure you stay on track cuz you don't want to have to catch up at the end of the month." The reason I've failed at previous Story A Day attempts was that, ten or so days into the month, I'd miss a couple of days and get so overwhelmed by the thought of playing catch up that I just dropped it. But this was such a gentle, sane approach of, "It doesn't matter if you miss a day. Just start fresh tomorrow." No implication that you've failed by only writing twenty-nine or fifteen or two stories. Just encouragement to keep showing up and not letting a sense of obligation and guilt crush you, and being grateful for the stories you did finish. (Frankly, this'll be good advice for a lot of areas in life.)

The Galaxy Garrison sucks ass and this is why I think so Part 3
This is my OWN interpretation, Voltron as a whole never gave enough context about the GG to ever show it in a purely positive or negative light. I'll be excluding VLD, Beastking Golion, Armored Fleet Dairugger XV and any comics here since that's a hard reboot, the original Japanese dubs have nothing to do with each other, and because the comics are their own beast to deal with.
This part will be focusing on Voltron Force and Voltron The Third Dimension
Parts: 1 2 3
Rant after the cut for dash reasons, feel free to add your own opinions and/or additions to the post, I really want to hear about other interpretations of the GG!
Starting off with Voltron The Third Dimension (V3D) as my thoughts on it are short Say what you want about the 3D rendering but the story absolutely hits, I'd listen to it as a podcast AT THE LEAST because it's so good V3D made some good points by having the Garrison be a villain to the newly reinstated team! I will cut them some slack and admit that Zarkon tampered with Amalgamous (a robot built to be the decision maker for the entire alliance with all their stances programmed into him) which made him a lot more crappy However that doesn't stop me from tearing into him! Amalgamous is supposed to be the love child of the alliance yet still got tricked by Zarkon when most if not all those planets were harmed by him in some way? I don't believe it He repeatedly caused issues for the force and at one point ORDERED THE DESTRUCTION OF THE LIONS because "it's what the leaders would've voted for!" Not to mention he held a vote to permanently disband the force because THEY WERE DOING THEIR JOB, and it almost worked too if the actual alliance leaders weren't actively voting Now he did get a lot nicer after the tampering done to him was reversed, but he was still an asshole, and it also irks me that NOBODY THOUGHT TO TAKE IT TO DEBATE ABOUT SERIOUS THINGS LIKE THIS INSTEAD OF LETTING A FUCKING AI DO IT
Next is Voltron Force! Don't come to me trashing the bad 2d art and 3d rendering mix, I will make you cease to exist from my blog. Obv I love this show a lot so I have many things to say as I focus heavily on the story One of the main antagonists once again IS the Garrison, except this time it's not an AI, it's some wack politician! The show made an amazing choice with that, because the GG BREEDS those kinds of people, will cut some slack as it's Wade specifically causing ruckus but with the power of a multi-planetary military under Wade, the villain, only held the top seat of the military division, the division that is absolutely the most funded of them. Not only did he have full control over the raw firepower but he eventually took over the GG ENTIRELY It shows that the GG is either weak willed as hell or the rest of the leaders were only a little less bad than him if he could take over so easily Episode after episode shows that Wade is power hungry and will do anything to take Voltron down. We learn that Wade sabotaged Voltron and basically outlawed it only to steal black for himself in order to experiment in making himself stronger Nobody besides the planets allied with Voltron chooses to stand up to Wade, except the planets we do hear attempt to do so never have it end well for them For example, he forcibly mines a precious resource from a planet called Arial even after its spiritual leader forbids him too and causes the area and presumably the PLANET to go wack as it's thrown off balance Planet Ebb (a planet that's sustained on trade) is placed under blockade, its people are starved to the point where it's ruler works with Wade in order to get any food he can to them, and even when he does his part Wade still says he won't lift it causing the leader to switch sides and worth with voltron In the same episode, he takes a page out of the 9th kingdom's book and PRACTICALLY ENSLAVED PRINCESS ALLURA, HER NIECE DUCHESS LARMINA , AND CORAN, THROWS ALLURA AND CORAN INTO A GLADIATOR RING AS HE LIVE STREAMS IT TO THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE WHILE FORCING LARMINA TO WATCH Another side character mentions that his home planet was invaded with the cloaking technology he made because Wade forced him into manufacturing it on a military level, only for Wade to turn on him in the end. With what he says, we can only assume his planet was wiped out, and he is one of if not THE sole survivor. This guy works in a secret prison btw, housing both the worst criminals and political prisoners of Wade, especially those who go against him Only after the gladiator incident is Wade taken down, but not before WADE TAKES OVER VOLTRON AND ACTIVELY DESTROYS THE CITY AROUND GG HQ JUST TO PROVE HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE ROBOT BEING DANGEROUS And the force themselves (minus allura but plus their three cadets) have to take him down because nobody else in the alliance WOULD DO ANYTHING TO STOP HIM OR EVEN VOICE THEIR CONCERN
I should point out that both V3D and VF are pseudo-sequels of dotu, meaning both shows happen with dotu already in its timeline! So these points of interest are just layers on top of layers of issues that the Garrison has
TLDR: I hate the GG with a passion because they're useless and the only time they ever do anything is when they're backed into a wall. The only good to come out of the GG was the LV and VV teams as they were misfits that were gotten rid of but somehow all came back as saviors of the universe and to an ENTIRE RACE OF PEOPLE WHO'S PLANET ALSO EXPLODED respectively

hello I was the anon who left you the (4/4) messages about dreading Conrad slander haha anyways just wanted to say I love your response! Especially the part about how the different loves belly has with the boys is like art/you’re supposed to feel something!! that’s how I felt reading the books :) anyways just wanted to come back and ask how you felt about this love at the end of s1 to me it’s THEE belly Conrad song but more so for book three? For me I feel like wildest dreams playing there would’ve been so fitting especially knowing what happens in the very next book and it fits with the misunderstood side of Conrad that everyone has!! (Although Tbh I feel like JH mixed a lot of the entire series esp book 3 into the first season) nonetheless I hope they can reuse this love for s3 (if we get book3 in s3) bc it’s just so perfect for them 🥹 side note: I wish the BC ending had better build up bc they didn’t really address when (or even “if” I suppose since they could go that route) she left jere it was just kinda sudden that she was with Conrad lol I mean I’m happy as a BC shipper but the pacing was whack in that last episode I felt like the show just needed like one more or maybe just an extra 10 mins to give us a bit more build up to the final scene of them
hi! I'm so glad you checked back in! 😊
um yes, I loved that This Love played over that final scene for them! Especially the part of the song that starts playing- "tossing, turning struggled through the night with someone new, and I could go on and on...lantern burning flickered in my mind, only you, but you were still gone...been losing grip on sinking ships, you showed up just in time" can we take a moment to appreciate how that last line about losing grip and you showed up just in time is perfect for Conrad in that moment??? And "struggled through the night with someone new" flawless song choice. But I also love how it works with the entire relationship and journey through all of the books! The way they each let the other go but always find their way back to each other...I love it. Also the lyrics "when you're young you just run but you come back to what you need" and "this love is glowing in the dark" I just love for Belly and Conrad. I think it was the perfect song for that moment! Although I was still recovering from The Way I Loved You and everyone crying a scene prior so the first watch through of it I was going through it by the time This Love came on lol. I agree it would be so nice to see that song or Lover be used again later on. Like a reprise.
In regards to the last scene pacing-wise...I agree. It was wack af. I loved it, I loved how similar it was to that moment in the book and I was thrilled they ended up together but it was weird. Like they just slapped it on. We went from crying and the dinner scene to the next morning on the beach. I at least wanted to see her walking out there, or being asked to go look for him, and some kind of conversation or knowing shared look between her and Jeremiah. something to wrap it and make it make more sense. In the book she goes out there looking for him because after spending the night with Jere and THAT scene with Conrad as she leaves Jere's room, they don't know where Conrad is and she immediately knows where to find him, and I would have loved to see that on screen. I think she wasn't officially dating Jere (she told Steven something about deciding who she dates, but she and Jeremiah never used that word. and there was a huge emphasis on Steven and Shayla having a big convo about being exclusive and how the "cheating" wasn't really cheating bc of that, I'm convinced the point of that was to show they're the only ones who are *actually* dating). And the final scene was definitely the morning after the ball, the sun was out and Conrad was still in his suit although Belly had changed, it reminded me of the scene at the end of the first episode when she talked to him on the beach in the morning and told him he can't smoke if she can't smoke (and then she missed Cam's boat bc of that!!!). I really liked that parallel. The idea that they both know to find each other on the beach.
Idk how a conversation between Belly and Jeremiah would have looked after the ball and all of THAT though..."hey jere, thanks for being my escort, I appreciate and had a great time even though you only did the escort dance you (apparently) choreographed and then disappeared at the part that was most important to me, leaving me feeling humiliated in front of everyone and thankfully Conrad stepped in to save the day but then you reappeared and punched your brother humiliating the entire family in front of everyone at the ball so...yeah it was great and all but I will always be in love with Conrad" it's gonna be sooo awkward whenever it does happen in s2 and I am here for the drama.
ALSO ALSO- I have always loved the idea of Wildest Dreams for them and when Jenny first teased Taylor Swift songs in the show I was convinced it was that one! "He's so tall and handsome as hell, he's so bad but he does it so well" are you kidding me??? that was written for Conrad. It would so perfectly heartbreaking if they play Wildest Dreams over the scene at the end of the third book where Conrad is giving her the necklace and saying goodbye, as he kisses her on the cheek and leaves...it would really be beautiful for that moment as the audience is left to wonder for a few minutes if this is it between them, if they'll see each other again. @ Jenny Han are you taking notes????

Sk8 the Infinity & trauma
i think Sk8 the Infinity did a good job in portraying their characters with trauma. each person has their unique case that’s interlink with one another. they each dealt with trauma in their own way & it sucks how the fandom handles that. from being fucking infantilized to being treated like a demon, it’s apparent that the fandom just wants a bunch of boys/men to treat like their next yaoi obsession. alas, i must continue to infodump about the show, with or without the fandom’s approval
MatchaBlossom: their trauma was during all 3′s (them + Ainosuke) teenage years and when Cherry got wacked with a skateboard. They still care about Ainosuke, but they hate being left in the dark.
How the Fandom deal with MatchaBlossom: Joe- i haven’t forgotten the time when fans were trying to cancel Joe for liking caring about Ainosuke. embarrassing. Cherry- they treat Cherry as a victim that helplessly fell in love with Ainosuke in the past and can’t escape now. thus they think Cherry is dealing with Stockholm syndrome. same with Joe, for those who haven’t canceled him.
Miya: all of Miya’s friends left him while he was in middle school, if I’m not mistaken. Ainosuke introduced himself to him, don’t remember the details. but yeah, trauma.
How the Fandom deal with Miya: not really sure. i think that they see him as a child (which he is) that needs help from Ainosuke or something. that’s like the most accurate depiction of the cast.
Regna: Reki- Reki’s pain mostly comes from low self esteem. and with Langa gone, it only doubled. not to mention the fact that people at school don’t like him & his past old friend gave up on something that Reki put his soul into skateboarding. Langa- Langa’s trauma is linked to his father’s passing. he mostly internalize his pain, but it ends up affecting Reki. even though he doesn’t want it to. instead of hanging out with his lover friend, he goes & bond with another depressed character, Ainosuke.
How the Fandom deal with Regna: Langa- a boy who can do no harm and needs savior from Ainosuke. even though Langa hurt Reki’s feelings and never apologize for it. it’s like it went over most American Sk8 fans’ heads. Reki- a soft boy that got hurt because of Ainosuke. Not Langa himself, it’s always somehow Ainosuke’s fault that a promise was broken, a promise that he didn’t even know existed. at least from my knowledge Ainosuke didn’t know.
TadaAi: Tadashi’s trauma is the Shindo family. From the father to the 3 aunts, and later Ainosuke himself, he has internally dealt with his trauma. i’m not sure how to properly label this, because what i thought was abuse was really some kinky play. yay fandom deception /s. Ainosuke- this lovely mf has this mask labeled Adam and that’s how he has dealt with all his trauma. His trauma being homophobia, child abuse, controlling family, work, etc. With Adam, he has a way in dealing with all of it. He also does a lot of projection, which translate to trauma for others. It wasn’t until the last episode that he realize this.
How the Fandom deal with TadaAi: Tadashi- a sweet boy that did nothing wrong and needs to be saved from Ainosuke. i don’t have the spoons to go over how anti kink u people sound.  Ainosuke- like the worst creature on earth. that’s all i have to say w/o getting mad.

thoughts on bungou stray dogs season 5
woo, that was a fun binge-watch! ok, my (not spoiler free) thoughts:
this was a good season, really really good. i'm really impressed by asagiri's ability to keep us guessing and to play off old story patterns while also developing new ones—characterization's very consistent but also keeps developing in fresh and interesting directions. pacing's less wack than s3 (where fyodor appeared in like 3 episodes), the plot develops at a solid pace, the themes are really interesting
this was the gayest season i have seen so far and i've been letting this stupid show queerbait me for 6 years now, so that's saying something. fukichi and fukuzawa simultaneously have the energy of messily divorced exes, pining repressed best friends, and happily married couple all at once. if i was mori i'd be jealous (but it's mori so he's not, though i do appreciate mori/fukuzawa as a foil to fukichi/fukuzawa).
i'm not really the biggest fan of raising the stakes continuously overall, like i really don't think media needs to go like season 1. save my friend season 2. save my home season 3. save the world or some shit, it's fine to have similar magnitude of stakes throughout. but it's cool that asagiri's got the ambition to tackle some lofty questions—in particular i think nikolai's own struggle to determine his free will compared to fukichi's desire to strip free will from humanity in exchange for world peace is interesting.
i have never been particularly taken by fyodor, or fyodor's relationship with dazai, or fyodor's relationship with nikolai. but this season has finally caused me to cave and admit he's great. he's hilarious, he's a great foil to dazai (their weird 4D chess frenemyship is excellent, i understand why people ship them now), his dialogue is top tier and i fucking lost it when he faked having a split personality to the character with split hair because he (rightly) figured sigma would fall for it. like yes DRAG HIM
speaking of split haired characters, i miss Q, who had a lot of potential to add some more chaos to the mix and who i generally want to see more of (his fucked up gender energy and his being a lovehatechild of dazai and chuuya is so entertaining)
i'm...actually a bit disappointed that dazai did not actually let chuuya die, although i do like the direction asagiri took—in "double black," we saw chuuya place his trust in dazai, and it paid off. this time around, dazai placed his trust in chuuya—literally let him put a loaded gun to his head!!—and it paid off (and also chuuya got his revenge for dazai taking too long to nullify corruption last time, you know he had fun with those extra bullets).
i really enjoy that asagiri shows time and time again just how much these two trust each other, but at the same time, i think their relationship could actually be stress tested more—like, i genuinely wanted to see dazai placed into a real "pick chuuya or the ADA" situation! i want to see dazai and chuuya actually on opposite sides, not in truces or working together or whatnot, and i suspect that this will happen in the show's last arc—it's eventually going to circle back to ADA vs. PM, just like the beginning. TL:DR; i'm an insane dazai/chuuya shipper and the chokehold they have on me is so humiliating that i just don't talk about it 99% of the time. if i loved you less i would be able to talk about it more.
although i did 100% call him being OK with killing chuuya as BS, because there is no goddamn way dazai's last words to chuuya would ever be as mild and cliche as "we didn't really get along, but sometimes we understood each other." that man has been practicing dramatic monologues in his head daily for the last seven years. when he does deliver that monologue it's going to fucking SERVE
speaking of being taken in by fyodor: fine fine I GET THE DAZAI/CHUUYA X FYODOR/NIKOLAI PARALLELS NOW OKAY. not that i denied them before but we were really getting bashed over the head with it in the prison break episodes. being queerbaited by this show is better than a lot of actual media gay couples but it still hurts like a bitch.
i continue to want to wring atsushi's neck lol. akutagawa has never really been my fave or anything, but his character development is clearly progressing much faster (and i really really respect it) and our narrator still can't fucking form an opinion without one of his friends to guide him!! kyouka and lucy please ditch him and date each other instead. the lack of kyouka in this season was CRIMINAL.
i kind of ship kenji and tetchou now...i know the show is pushing tetchou and jouno but jouno is just so fucking MEAN and tetchou deserves someone who doesn't judge him for his quirks okay :(
tachihara biggest glow up of any character since the beginning of this show. the character development i didnt know i wanted
this season did a lot more work to humanize the hunting dogs (esp. the non-tachihara ones) and i enjoyed that a lot. teruko's role in the finale, killing the man she loved most because fukuzawa couldn't, absolutely murdered me. i think it's such a good step in her character arc as she has to figure out who she wants to be without him. also i appreciate that she's a badass female character who isn't a weirdly sexualized girlboss and is also a weirdo
aya and bram is truly one of the most bizarre pairs in this show and there are a lot of bizarre pairs, so that's saying something. i legitimately feel like asagiri picked some names out of a hat or spun a wheel for this or something. but i am excited for bram to figure out what he wants after spending forever being enslaved to others, and hope that this involves listening to the radio all day with a 10-year-old girl. the way children are portrayed in BSD as these incredibly vulnerable and impressionable people worthy of love and protection sincerely fucks me up so bad
loose ends: where is the help me note from? i assumed dazai wrote it, but i doubt it, and i also doubt he just left sigma to die. we still don't know what fyodor's ability is, which makes me nervous, since he is ALLEGEDLY dead. i wonder if it's nikolai's (frankly he does legitimately seem like the type to have split personality issues). i'm worried the antidote isn't an actual antidote, and we obviously haven't seen the end of nikolai. there's an actually comical amount of power in bram's hands now. mori's been fairly quiet this season, and there's no way he didn't plan a way for himself to benefit from the carnage. that man is a vulture, he exploits starving orphans off the street! and he sent in chuuya to save the ADA's ass twice and let akutagawa disappear for 2+ weeks! this man was just negotiating to have yosano join the mafia, you can't tell me he didn't get something for himself out of this.
honestly i kind of just want this shit with the hunting dogs and the decay of angels to end and to stop worrying about world domination so we can go back to the ADA battling yokohama's villain of the week, like man the tension has just been building nonstop. give the ADA a coffee break. 😭😭
ranpo fans are truly getting their time lately huh. we are winninggggg

Where Blue Lock Season 1 Will End...
Okay, so I was looking through the chapters still left in the second selection and i THINK i have an idea of where it will end, with near certainty. This is also mostly me rambling and trying to soothe my nerves about seeing certain characters in the anime *cough cough*
*obvious manga spoilers for any anime onlys :)
(Putting it under the read more cause this got somewhat long lmao)
I know that a lot of people want the season to end on chapter 93 or 94 (mostly 93), me included, and I actually think that's the only possible ending they'll do.
For one, episode 22 ended off on chapter 84. With Bachira's awakening and Isagi jumping in at the last second.
From there, there are 5 more chapters before the world five match.
Chapter 85: Rin's goal, Isagi gets chosen.
Chapter 86: Isagi's depature from Nagi, Chigiri, and Barou, and he goes up ahead with Rin, Bachira, and the others.
Chapter 87: Ego's whole ass speech about luck - introduction to world five
Chapter 88: We spend time with this team of five, then it switches to Reo and Kunigami at the 2v2. Shidous introduction (!!)
Chapter 89: 2v2 match up w/ Shidou & Igaguri vs Reo & Kunigami
After this, they jump straight into the 5v5 with the world five. I absolutely do not see the anime ending in the middle of the match. It just makes no sense to end off a season right there, and then make the anime onlys wait possibly a couple of years to see how it ends.
So that means that either A. they end the season BEFORE the 5v5 or B. they end the season AFTER the 5v5.
And either way, the anime only has 2 episodes left.
In option A, that would mean stretching out the 5 chapters across 2 episodes, which would mean 1 episode with 3 chapters and 1 episode with 2 chapters, or 2 episodes with 2.5 chapters each.
The anime has not done episodes with less than 3 episodes since the very first 2 episodes, and those were because they were very long chapters and it was the beginning of the anime (specifically for episode 1).
Chapter 85 is fairly short, and Chapter 89 is mostly the 2v2 match and full of action, so it goes by quickly in movement.
With the pace so fair, it would feel really dragged out if they stretched out these 5 chapters into 2 episodes. Their pace rn is average 4 episodes per episode, with an occasional 5 chapter or 3 chapter episode. It just wouldn't make much sense.
That leaves option B. The world five match ends on chapter 92. The anime has no other choice but to continue the season to include the 5v5, and with how chapter 92 ends off, that is DEFINITELY not a place to end off a season.
(It ends with Isagi saying something about needing to catch up to Rin to compete with the world's best, so yeah not an ideal scene to cut the anime off)
On the contrary, chapter 93 is where the second selection fully ends and the teams are brought forward. And to be honest, while rereading it, I could practically hear the end credits playing in my head as they introduce the teams. How could it NOT be the perfect place to end an amazing season off?
Shidou's dramatic entrance that shows Kunigami is not there doesn't happen until chapter 94, but its like the very first scene. It is completely possible to show that too.
So basically, chapter 93 is their only bet on a satisfactory conclusion.
However there are a couple of issues to take into account:
1. that's 9 whole chapters, compressed into 2 episodes. Either the pacing is going to be wack or they need to figure out how the hell to fit it so that it makes sense. The way I see it, its either going to be:
Episode 23: Ch. 85-88
Episode 24: Ch. 89-93
OR
Episode 23: 85-89
Episode 24: Ch. 90-93
Story wise it would make the most sense to do the second option. You finish the 4v4, have ego's speech, then include all of the 2v2 towards the end. That way, ep 24 can be solely the 5v5 that was built up in the previous episode and it can end with the epic ending of ch. 93.
However, I don't think they'll have enough time to do that, (egos speech is veryy long), so in that case first option is more realistic. And while it would feel awkward to end ep 23 on shidous introduction and have ep 24, the very last episode of the season, be the ending to that 2v2, have the ALLL of the 5v5 and THEN have the teams finish the second selection (pacing's gonna be real weird), it sadly is the more probable option.
2. while chapter 93 is the first good point to end off the season, it definitely isn't the best one. Ideally, the ending of chapter 94 finishes things off more cleanly, with Ego announcing the U-20 match, the third selection kicking off, and Kunigami entering the wild card. However, to say the anime will have enough to time to reach the ending of chapter 94 is a huge stretch.
(That's 10 chapters in 2 episodes, probably 5 chapters each, and with the length of these chapters, it sadly isn't possible).
So even with this cleaner ending of reaching chapter 93, it would still be a cliffhanger for anime onlys, (unless they somehow do kunigami entering the wildcard at the very end which would be SICK but thats still stretching it :/)
and finally 3. all of this is assuming the anime sticks to the manga as closely as they have been doing. Other than moving a few scenes around here and there (looking at you naruhayas backstory), the anime stays very true to the manga. I think that its POSSIBLE that they may cut out a few scenes to make time, but not likely.
And even so, i'm still so nervous they'll cut shidou's introduction out or something. they probably wont but STILL.
In conclusion: dw guys we'll get our satisfying ending at chapter 93, I BELIEVE. shidou's introduction, the other teams with karasu, otoya, hiori, yukimiya, etc, coming in, "thats all folks" is REAL. WE'LL SEE IT, PLS ANIME LET ME BE RIGHT FOR ONCE 😭😭

tell me about sally
SALLY IS ACTUALLY UNFORTUNATELY A BIT OF A BLIND SPOT FOR ME cuz i haven't watched a lot of AoStH or SatAM and haven't read a lot of the Archie comics... at her best, she's super cool though! she was used uhhhhh Poorly for most of archie's run, just acting as A Girl for sonic (and sometimes other male characters) to "win" or "lose" (rugh.) and... generally being misunderstood and mistreated by the men writing her (the team that came after the "original batch" of writers had their own problems writing characters esp women too but that's a whole other thing i again don't have too much authority on since i've read a series of VERY random archie issues over the past 12 years, mostly from the Tracy Yardley era and Sonic Universe actually lol)
at her core though, sally has always been that kind of "kick-ass royalty" type you get out of girls in media from the time period. active member of the cast, smart, funny, cool, realistic when needed, kindhearted but not foolish, a little exasperated by Oh You Boys. she's also always been sonic's girlfriend/love interest, which i feel like some people aren't aware of and think sonally is just from archie? they're if not outright dating just very comfortable and flirtatious with each other (they're childhood friends!) in SatAM. i actually had a couple episodes on again while doing dishes recently and there was a scene where sonic and sally kiss and their friends are just like standing around waiting for them to stop LMFAO
uhh i put images in here and they made the post really long so i'm gonna put a break
i know even Less about AoStH sally... apparently they're officially dating according to the SNN? also, she's pink, and i hate it
Tumblr media
SHE LOOKS SO MUCH MORE GIRLNAKED IN PINK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i do love that she's naked though. pave the way for clothesless female animal chracters girl... a legend... an icon.... unfortunately an icon who was slowly given clothes to hide her Heinous Female Form (i'm joking) over time
for the longest time she just had this little vest though still chest out. go girl go. the little vest was sooo Gender to me as a kid. also her archie eyebrows!!
Tumblr media
as sad as i am that they covered her up, i do think her post-reset archie outfit is super cool!!!
Tumblr media
i take a lot of cues from this sally as well as the Sonic Riders design ethos when dressing my own sonic ocs actually! she's so sporty and fun, i love her. her bright red hair is really nice too, imo. she lost her eyebrows though :(
her archie designs.... oooo she is suuuuuuuch a little gender envy sapphic to me LMFAO. bi legend...
i feel like moooost people know this by now but sallicole... it is Real... they couldn't make it real real for real for real but god these girls...
Tumblr media
their designs look good together i feel... <3
Tumblr media
mmmm i forget what the point was. but yeah, unfortunately i don't know much about sally's use in canon/spinoff material... but what i've seen of her i really like (other than the royalty thing though, i don't like sonic(the character)'s world having a rigid political system especially one based on royalty sorry LMFAO. it's weird!! and also enabled a lot of wack writing for sally in archie!!!) she's a really fun character when written well and given a proper role, and i think she's a really neat companion for sonic (not necessarily romantic... their dynamic is really fun when it isn't bogged down by boring love triangles, they bounce off each other well). i think the idea of sonic having a childhood friend like sally is really neat, especially when you add tails to that history. weird little misfit friendfamily
unfortunately, sally probably won't ever be used officially again. i know the IDW team especially Ian Flynn really want to... but if they did, they wouldn't ever be the same as they were before due to the agonies sadly, and IDW does have a good amount of characters similar to sally now (though i will NEVER say no to more cool girls. in fact give me more. outnumber the cool boys, i demand it). but still! it'd be neat to see her in action in official material again. for now though, she and the rest of the freedom fighters are at narrative rest
but sally still remains a beloved part of the fandom! i still see fanart of her, and i see fans remixing current storylines and putting her and the other freedom fighters back into the cast. i'm glad that at least she hasn't been forgotten
